Speaker 1 (00:01):
Robin and Kidd now with Correos the podcast. But tomorrow
is International Women's Day, and if the cyclone hadn't been
causing all the havoc, there would be far more celebrations,
and there were lots of lunches and stuff that had
to be postponed. But for the first time ever in
my life, I've become a cover girl. So myself, Sam Frost,
(00:24):
Shanna Jack's, Sharon Cadella, and Laura Geites are on the
front cover of Q Weekend Cool for the creaml As
part of International Women's Day, we were asked to write
a letter and so we could write it to whoever
we wanted, like our mother's, our children, any inspirational women.
It was interesting the sports people. Shana Jacks wrote hers
(00:46):
to her mum saying thank you so much. Sam Frost
wrote to her sister, who is an incredible inspiration Sam Froster, No,
she's the ex bachelorette, and then went to Home and
Away and Laura Gits wrote it to her two daughters. Yeah,
and I read it to my sons. Oh yeah. So
it was so hard to do. I felt that, like,
it's such a huge thing to try and put into
(01:09):
a couple of words. I will say that I wrote
a full letter that is available on the Career Mail website,
and I think we're putting it up on our website,
but of course the editors of the paper cut it
right down, so if you want to read all of it.
But basically, I just asked my boys what International Women's
Day meant to them, and I was kind of a
bit scared because I didn't know what their answer would be.
(01:29):
And then once I had the boys answer, I asked
their girlfriends. Because my experience over thirty six years in
this industry has not been great, like in terms of
sexism and stuff. I mean I'm talking a long time, like,
you know, twenty years ago when I was having kids.
But the Career mal have pulled the headline Robin Bailey
opens up about shocking sexism in her career. Yeah, right,
(01:51):
which is actually true. I do, and there is some
appalling examples that I gave from back in the day.
Within no female bosses in radio and very few people
on there. So right now is probably not the best
time to ask you to go and make us some brownies. No,
actually you can cook, mate, he would you go? Mate? Ever?
(02:14):
And think you'd leave now? That's a great breakdown. Can
you go and make us some brownie? Now, do you
know who's the most member of this team is? Ok,
it's you? What about what? Just general? Just gend on.
I want you to clarify what the question is? General
(02:36):
uselessness and all general everything just general use Okay, let's
let's just work through this. Okay. Yeah, So in parenting
you require ten people you take care. I've got two kids,
two kids alive and well, thank you. Yeah, but not
true when it comes to Christis management. You choose to
(02:57):
do gardening of a bampoo well I was cleaning up.
Doesn't make sense. When it comes to this radio show,
you are extraordinary at the button, but thank you, but
anything else is dis organized unhelpful. Is that the voice
of king we got from the group to our producer. No,
(03:21):
we are going to send Corey to make us some brownies.
They very soon, because you've brought in a packet mix.
We've got everything ready. So you're going to go to
our kitchen because I got to push the buttons. You've
got to make us brownie. All to be fair, the
reason why you're doing this is when I suggested that
you do it with your son Hawks and record it
for us. You went no, and I'm like, okay, we'll
do it here. Then well, if you said that, said yeah, okay,
(03:44):
So Cory is making us brownies. Will keep you updated
on how they go. Yeah, we'll have a great video
yesterday with sandbagging. Today it's cooking. I mean, where we
are reflecting the city possibility. You'll have blue e
