Speaker 1 (00:12):
I heard podcasts, year more, kiss podcasts, playlists and listen
live on the Freeheart, Rotten Kid and Coyo.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
And we have a very special guest in the studio, Alexis,
who contacted us via the website because you would like
to do something special for your son. Yes, that's right,
but before we talk about what you want to do,
let's talk about your son.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
So Carter, Yes, Carter, Well, to see, he's eight years.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Old and why is it that you want to do
something nice for him? What's going on in your life?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
So me and my ex husband are separated, so we
co parent and we do week on, week off, which
is a lot for a lot for him. So we've
made the best out of a very awful situation. But
it is a lot for him to go, you know,
from one home to the next every single week, like
it's bouncing back. And the older he is getting, you know,

(01:13):
he's struggling missing both of us. You know, he always
talks about wanting all of us in the one the
one home together and it's just that's never going to happen.
So it's been now three years, but obviously he was
a lot younger when we first started doing this, so
the older he's getting, the more the more emotionally it's
like affecting him and Carter is. I want to say,

(01:37):
I might be a bit biased, but he's very special
because he's so sensitive, he's so like just emotionally away.
He's very kind. He's you know, if ever I'm feeling down,
he'll you know, write me a note to you know,
lift me back up. And he gives so much to me,
and I want to give, you know, a little bit
back to him.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
But can I ask, And this is a question because
I want to know, probably this question's come in my way.
What do you say to him when he says, why
why aren't we all in one house?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah, that's been a tricky question because now that he's
this age, he does he has asked me that. And
but I just like we were two people, we were married,
and we love each other very much still, but we
work better as a family this way. We both have
our own partners now as well. So he said, so
he's only ever known like us with our partners now.

(02:25):
So we say to him, like, we just didn't work
well together. It was affecting all of us in the
one household. And I said, you don't remember this because
you were so little at the time. But it wasn't nice.
So we work better as a family and all he's
known now is us being the best of friends.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
Yeah. To create us.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
We did not get along well in the beginning. And
I don't know what my ex husband's turning point was,
but I know my turning point was. We were dropping
him off at school one morning and we were both
there and Card was so uncomfortable. He could feel that
we did not want to be there together, but we
were both there because it was his first day of

(03:07):
I think it was year two, and he asked us
and I'm masically want to cry, but he asked us
both to leave because he's like, can you can you
both go? And that like wrecked me and I just
thought we need to do better.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
So what is it you want to do for Karda?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Oh it sounds crazy. I want to give him the world.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Do you want to do things as a family?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah? Yeah, So that was my big thing is because
we haven't done we haven't crossed that line yet during
a family holiday with all of us, but he's asked
us to do that like we asked us.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
And you're ready to do that?

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah, we've spoken about it, and we think it would
be amazing for Kada, for him to experience like all
of us, like you know, even on bus.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
I don't know that. I mean you're shaking your head.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
I mean for those who don't listen to the show
regularly from a similar situation. Y.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Yeah, we're not ready to holiday together better.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yeah, I think we've even just this last month, we've
got to this point where we're saying goodbye to each other,
which is.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
A really it's a big step.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
It used to be mate, love you, I'd say to
Raffie when I left him with his mum, but I'd
never say goodbye to her. But that's just okay bye,
just niceties, you know, just being polite.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
We started, we started like moving forward with like Carter's
soccer games and stuff like that. So he does soccer
on Saturday, so we would all go to his games
and we would all sit there and we could feel
very uncomfortable. I feel like, like, oh god, how do
you make the conversation? It is really hard, but that's
where we started.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
It'd be uncomfortable.

Speaker 7 (04:41):
Yeah, position you put yourselves in has now been worth it.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
And the obviously sounds like it's getting a lot better.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
So yeah, well we want to help.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, and we want to meet Carda. Let's getting harder, animals.
We've got something, We've got an idea. It was time
to meet the little man himself. Hey, going, Carter? And
how old are you?

Speaker 6 (05:02):
Carter?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Eight years old?

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Okay, Hey Carter, your mom's been telling us a lot
about you. Can you tell us about your mom and dad?
Do you spend time with both of them?

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (05:15):
How do you do that? They go bowling and fishing fish?

Speaker 4 (05:19):
And do you sleep at different houses?

Speaker 5 (05:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
And do you do you like having to like two
houses or how do you feel about it?

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Mate?

Speaker 4 (05:26):
I like having two houses, your mom and your dad.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (05:32):
And is there one thing you would love to do?
Would you?

Speaker 7 (05:35):
Would you want to go somewhere together with your mom
and your dad?

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Why would you like to do that? Because I spend
time with both of them?

Speaker 6 (05:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Ok. Do you want them to spend time together with you?

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (05:49):
Well, I think we might be able to help you out.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
