Speaker 1 (00:12):
I heard podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists and listen live.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
On the freeheart app.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Now the podcast.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
We're obviously on the podcast after the shade and I
got talking about have you got a what is that?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
A quiet place?

Speaker 4 (00:32):
It was a quiet place, you know, where it's your
own time, and.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Not surprisingly, Cory's was in the shed and kIPS was
under the house. No, we need any of the children.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Right, but there's a reason for that.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
And when we obviously got talking about why we needed it,
there was something that you that Robin picked up on
when I was explaining why I'm watching a new show
and they're getting ready for bed and I'm like, ei
the city or go to your toy room and play yes,
because it's a way.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
He brings his toy and it's loud, and I said,
don't make a noise.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
You know what he does.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
He looks at me, pushes the button and he's looking contact.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
I said, do you push it again? And he goes this,
push it again.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I'm arguing, break that thing and half and then he
goes boom boom, boom boom, and break it. I get
up and he just grabs and just bolted in the
mumth so.

Speaker 6 (01:26):
You made the threat one more time and it's getting broken.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Oh it was just.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Kid, did you break it?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
No, because I didn't catch him. But then whatever Tigan's there,
you want to eventually come ahead and do anything.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Okay, this is the.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Point, right, Like all of us, we make these threats
because you get more and more angry and you think
what is the worst thing that's going to get them?
And then you think, yeah, I paid for that PlayStation
and you might throw that in the bin. Yeah, my
life is going to be so much worse.

Speaker 6 (01:56):
Yes, I snapped Lego in half once and it cut me.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
This is going to make a point.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
It was like, ah, I got so sharp.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
There was the time you've done it and actually straight
away and then it.

Speaker 6 (02:10):
Was also it was the same as like I spent
so much money on this damn Lego and now I broken.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Well this is why I said Tom, stop buying them toys.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I don't really buy the toys. Hey, so my thing
is I hide them.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
And when Thagan found out, atually you got a bit
annoyed because I'll hide it.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
And then after like three or four weeks if the
kids don't ask.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
But that situation, it disappears for good.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
You throw it out.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
That situation you gave us, you did not follow through
because he.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Took off and all I wanted him was out of
my room.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Okay, this is my point. But what point do you
follow through on a threat?

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Yeah, when when it actually is deserving of it, I
reckon when they actually do not listen.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I I'm that parent. I do follow through with things.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
And if they don't ask that toy for a while,
I just like, well, you.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Don't miss it, you don't need it. It's gone.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Okay. So how many of the threats you make, how
many times do you follow through?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I'm going to say probably half or at least.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
I mostly hide them from the kids, and then one
day it and and actually couldn't reach them when.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
She really needed them, And then.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
I've got a lot of trouble for that.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
She need to get them.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
The thing you followed through one.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
I think it was.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
It was Monty's, one of Monty's babies, because she has
like a hundred and she doesn't pack them up or
she like makes a massive mess and then wins and
Argus has a fight.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
And I'm like, mate, this is going to be gone.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
And then I hid like two of them, and then
after a couple of weeks, I remember she hasn't asked
for them, she's still playing for the other one.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
So I throw them out.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
And then was like, where's this baby?

Speaker 2 (03:49):
It's probably dump.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
And she's like you really was like yeah, She's like
that was a.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Little bit expensive that one could have thrown any of
the other ones.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yeah, a little bit of trouble for one.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
Of them I've thrown because I've like, monster trucks is
rafts currency, so the little wise ones. So it'll be like, mate,
if you you know, I'll give them a couple of
threats to go otherwise monster trucks are going in the bin.
And then he'll keep going and go and I'll actually
go go and pick the two that I'm throwing out,
which he can't do because they're like's they're all my favorites.

(04:24):
And so I'll grab two.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
No, that's a new one, and.

Speaker 6 (04:27):
I'll grab two and I'll put him in the bin
and he'll like, you know, he loses his mind for
a bit, and then do you get them out of
take them out?

Speaker 5 (04:35):
Wash them?

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Thirteen six mine. You know that there are people who
actually do follow through.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
Yeah, people that have actually said, you know what, I
am turning the car around and we're going back.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I want to hear about the times because clearly you
two need a bit of a lesson in this. So
if you have actually yes, and maybe the bigger the better.

Speaker 6 (04:59):
Yeah, have you actually canceled Christmas thirteen six?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Have you adopted your job?

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yes? I did it with some designer clothes that because
the boys had an allowance for their their clothes wardrobe.
And one of my boys used to love polo, Ralph
Lauren and so would like save and save and save,
but he would never put the tails up in the
laundry like in the bathroom. So I said, right, all
those polo things are going out onto the lawn and
we'll stay there until you can keep your room clean

(05:29):
and get your tails up. He didn't do it. Didn't
also check that there was a hailstorm coming?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Oh man, so bad?

Speaker 5 (05:42):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (05:44):
Did he remember from then on?

Speaker 7 (05:45):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (05:45):
And it wasn't my money even better?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Hailey out of Eaton's Hill? And did you follow through?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Haley?

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Absolutely care absolutely what happened. I got sick of my
little man shooting the freaking nerth bullets at my head. Oh, yeah, mate,
you do it one more time. And it was like
as soon as I said that, that was like apparently
a signal to like line me up, and he shot
it at me and he hit my forehead and I

(06:14):
was like right, And because I'm a bit everything has
its own place in the house, I went straight to
the arsonry that I'd actually built for it, picked every
single one up by the handles, put him into my
husband's vieud, which was ready to go to the tip.
The next day they went to the tip and to
this day we've only got like I think two that
we've replaced because I am jack of it, like, no,
just no, mate.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
He lost all of his nerf guns.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Yeah, my husband's got a better one though. To be honest,
he used to threaten our sosshole of a five year
old daughter. He's got to put you in the bin.

Speaker 8 (06:45):
Yeah, break it down.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
She's say she's you know the other word. Sometimes it's
just the other word, he said to her. And I'm
going to put you in the bin if you don't
stop doing this. Well you know where she ended up.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
I love it so much, this Zach of Caloundra. What happened?
When did you follow through?

Speaker 7 (07:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (07:04):
Oh well, it's not my proudest moment, but yeah, my
four year old was just nagging all day and annoying
his mom and my wife and his little brother, just
all day going at it. He's just having one of
those days. And I promised him, if you keep going,
you see these toys, they're going anyway. He just kept
on going. I'm getting screamed at his point by my wife.
So I got to a point where I've just filled

(07:27):
the boot. I stood him out the front. I filled
the boot with all his toys, or not all of them,
but a fair chunk. I took them down to the
local park, gave them to all the kids that were
just there for free. I came back and I thought
I was I thought I was a hero like calming
the situation, but not. The wife ended up turning on me,
and I ended up them three hating on me, kidding me.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yeah, it saves the headaches later on you you deal
with the issues.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I reckon yeah for nine nine seven three. This is
from Anita on our text line high. I remember when
my daughter was about twelve years old, she kept playing
on her phone while eating dinner. I threatened that if
she played with it, again, I would throw it on
the lawn, which I did, the only problem was that
I threw too hard. It kept on rolling, went out
onto the road and a car drove past.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
All over it was Lisa, what'd you do?

Speaker 10 (08:26):
I am that one parent that follows through. One hundred percent.
Family of blended family, six boys saving up to go
on our first holiday to the snow. The boys had
never seen snow before. The twelve year old stole money
from our savings tin of the money kings. We put
coins and notes in. He took some notes out, quite
a lot. We discovered it found out he admitted it,

(08:50):
and I limited, you're not coming on the holiday. You'll
learn from this, you'll never steal again. And it was
about three weeks out from our holiday and he was
like begging, and I never back down, never one hundred percent.
You've got to follow through. He thought that we would
back out. No Grandpa came and the bell for him.
He could not believe. We all went to the snow

(09:11):
and we showed him all our long photos no man
and slate like sledging and skiing, and he missed out
big time.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Now do you reflect back on that, do you still
think you made the right decision.

Speaker 10 (09:27):
I do because he's now twenty four and I'm not
with his dad any not that we have a great
relationship and we laugh about it now. He still says,
I can't believe you didn't hate me. I said, but
have you ever stolen anything again? He goes, no, never.

Speaker 7 (09:45):
Let you go.

Speaker 10 (09:47):
I always know if I say something, they know I
mean business.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
Wow, well you are tougher than me, Michelle out of hill, Chris,
do you follow through?

Speaker 11 (09:59):
Probably about ten or fifteen years ago now, when I
had four kids, their dad worked away from home and
they one night they wouldn't do their chores. They wouldn't
do their homework, would not listen to a word.

Speaker 10 (10:11):
I said.

Speaker 11 (10:12):
They were impact in front of the TV and wouldn't
So I told him I'll cut the plug off.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
He didn't cut it.

Speaker 11 (10:20):
Oh yeah I did. I cut it off with a
butter knife. It took me fifteen minutes to cut through.
I've never felt so much satisfaction.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
But what about the TV?

Speaker 11 (10:40):
Well, my husband is only two days. He could fix it.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
I knew he was coming home.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
You can put new plugs on.

Speaker 11 (10:45):
I knew he could do that. Kids didn't know.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
What about that satisfaction in the fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Kids telling it, I love it, well, Charis the Wellington point,
when did you follow through?

Speaker 7 (11:02):
Yeah, look, Corey's going to hate me for this, but look,
my kids had one job and it was to pick
up the dog poop. And I'm out there one weekend
and I'm mowing and sure enough I run over a
little landmine and gets caught up in the wheels in
boot and I'm just like, that's it. I've lost it.

(11:23):
And I said, right, the dog's going. So I caught
up a shelter the relocation center. They came out and
they picked up the dog, and the kids were distraught.
They were absolutely losing it. And anyways, a couple of
days went by, totally forgot about it, but I was distraught.
I was like, what have I done? I missing my dog.

(11:45):
So I caught up the center. I'm like, look, look,
you know, I think I made a big mistake here
and they're like, look, sorry, the dog. The dog's gone
with family. And I was like, oh crap, what have
I done? And yeah, yeah, lesson learned. We just did
last Christmas. That that was four years I had a

(12:08):
cocker Spaniel. It was a chock boy.

Speaker 6 (12:11):
Oh yeah, very break at a shelter as you now know.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
Yeah, that's pretty bad.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
It's pretty bad.

Speaker 12 (12:23):
That is that is when Chris says it it happened,
that's oh.

Speaker 8 (12:35):
I mean I always follow up on what what I do.
But the funniest one I had was my now th
eighteen year old daughter. She's got a gobin on her
and always asked to have the last thing to say,
and she wound me up one Sunday morning. She had
this treasured bike. She's about nine years of age. Loved
this bike, love going out on bike, rides on it.
So come on, got me two kous. We're going to

(12:58):
dismantle your bike. You're not having your bike anymore. And
she was absolutely distraught and she's she thought I was playing.
I was like, Noah, started taking the wheels off, so
come on, you're going to help me out. So she
got involved and she was like, you can't be doing this,
and I'm like, yeah, you're going to give me this,
You're going to do this, You're going to push me.
Then this is what we're going to do. And we

(13:18):
literally stripped that bike apart. Seats, off handles, off wheels,
off chain, off, you name it. And it went into
a bundle, shoved it in a big black bag and
threw it in my boots and I said, right, that's
going the tip and yeah, as long. But I did
not take it the tip. I actually took it to
Wak forgot about it and it was for about two

(13:39):
years remembered I had it.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Did she what happened to her life after she lost
your bike? Did she carry on? What happened?

Speaker 8 (13:49):
She still had it. She's one of these that I
don't know whether she takes after me or the mother,
but she's like she has to have the last thing
to say, so even when you're in an argument with her, Budy,
I've done all sorts were because a bit like Corey
was saying before, I don't buy the presents, so I've
chucked stuff away and then the wife's gone to me,
I can't believe your phone Christmas time. That's a fafty time.

(14:14):
And I'm like, I don't care if they give me lip.
I'm going to follow through whatever exactly.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Right, even Englishman, even if it doesn't work.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Yep, but maybe I'll stop buying the present.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
You're stubborn about her stubborn as thanks John, cheers by
keeping coming on the text line for nine ninety seven

your parenting threats. It's Robin Kip now with Correot's on
