Canberra's National Zoo has a brand new addition to its pride a lion cub!

At just three months old, little Nyra weighs in at just under 14 kilos and is already exploring her surroundings. She is the first lion cub born at the zoo in 23 years!

Rod, Gabi and newsreader Ash chat all things cub-related and even sized up how Nyra would go against Gabi’s chihuahua, Bear.

grass and coming in behind him, and then at the
last second, the guy will turn around, the line will
launch and they'll hug and they'll roll on the ground
and you learn that that's the person that rescued that
line coaches and you know, and it's all it's beautiful,
