Speaker 1 (00:00):
They came bounding over.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
What's a procedure, This is Roden Gabby versus the world?
This is your life. We haven't had that on the
TV for a long time. And McGuire right, I don't know, No,
I think it was no, No, Andrew Mike Munroe.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Mike Monroe is.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
A sixty minutes in New Zealand growing up. Did you
have this is your life?

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Actually?

Speaker 5 (00:38):
I don't think so. I think I kind of know
what it is?

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Is it where they go through your life, what happened?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
If it what happened to you, and generally it'll happen
in your latter years. Mike Monroe in this case, would
just turn up here and he'd.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Walk in and you'd be confused as to what Mike
Munroe is doing here with cameras and then he'd pull
out a big leather bound ball and he'd go, Ashley Nolan,
this is your life, and you go are.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
And then they'd whisk you off to the TV station
where they organized a lot of people from your life
to just, you know, recount stories. You didn't seen them
for a long time and they're paying tribute to you.
There would be a number of videos as well, because
not everyone can be there obviously, and as Australians, we
haven't seen this on Australian TV for a long time.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
To be honest, I forgot that whole format right.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, they love it in America.

Speaker 6 (01:29):
Oh it's happening there.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Oh yeah, but they just love doing this anytime.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
And so it's just random people or is it special people?

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Special people? Well, they find that the drawing power with
the ratings is lower on someone no one knows, random
guard on the street.

Speaker 6 (01:45):
But interesting story.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
There's shorter stories too because they don't know. Is it's
like your life, tell us about it? Get off. We
learned the Big yu And is relocated to America to
support Robert in Dan with the Stars, And that was
your news yesterday, Gabby.

Speaker 7 (02:02):
Yeah three months they're going over there. I wouldn't do
that for my sibling. Now up my life for three months?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, Billbill, I'd be expensive. But if you're good for it,
and it's an excuse to go on a three month holiday,
I'm there. Why not anyway? In spite of moving over there,
he wasn't available for some reason and has had to
do the video message. Robert was on Good Morning America
over there and they said We've got someone with a

(02:30):
very special message for you in the countdown to your
Dancing with the Stars appearance.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
After being on the show ten years ago.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
My best advice is to just lean into the experience.

Speaker 7 (02:41):
This is going to change your entire life and you
are going to remember this forever.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I am so proud of you.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Let your personality shine. You've got this hold on. Why
are you laughing?

Speaker 6 (02:54):
Sorry?

Speaker 7 (02:55):
So when you said Bindy had a message for Robert, yes,
I said, is it going to be like this?

Speaker 6 (03:00):
I am so proud of you.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yabby was doing what I felt was a mildly offense.
He've been on impersonation, I expected to say, and look
at her, go well, it turns out you know her. Well.
I think I love I love this family.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
You got this and I can't wait to cheer you
on every week.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
The Americans love it and they love them.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
They do love it.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
It reminded me how different we are as Australians. When
we were doing the speed dating on Friday night. If
you've been with us over the journey, the couples that
produce a Chelsea paired up were led to the car
as we took them through the car wash on the
speed day. They were blindfolded, however, and Baby Werez was obviously,
you know, one of the people guiding the participants to

(03:47):
the car. Now, I only heard this this morning because
I was in the car waiting for them to be
guided over. But everyone had an isolated microphone on and
so when Baby Wres was taking Talia, one of the participants,
over to the car, here is what I heard on
the audio, and it just reminded me when I heard
Bindi saying, you've got this. Okay, you've got this. Baby

(04:10):
Weres was giving her a pep talk as he was
guiding her to the car because she was nervous.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
Your hands out, Okay, okay, thank.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
You guys, you got this. This is the love of
your life.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
You know what.

Speaker 7 (04:28):
This is a really ship pep talk. No, well, I
feel like the same goes to Bindy Well that you
were comparing.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Bindy, listen, you can't compare and Baby Wheres. We love
them both. That's differently. Good luck to Rob. It great.
That's the point of the whole story. Sister's one, though.
You don't want your sister having bragging rights.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
A Christmas Rod and Gabby versus the World.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Hudson Young from the canber Raiders, your lady Gargo fan.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
No, not really.

Speaker 6 (05:05):
Pump up songs before the game.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
I can't say that. I'll listen too often.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
What do you do you put the yearbuds in before
a game?

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (05:12):
Yeah, sometimes I'm not a massive music guy.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Some of the I think historically and I don't know
with the current group. You'll know, there used to be
a few rows over the over the boombox as to
what was going to play, you know, in the rooms
if there wasn't just earbuds. But everyone has had the
one song. Yeah, do you still have the boom box.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
On?

Speaker 8 (05:33):
A fan of the boom Box said, are pretty quiet
before the game? Okay, yeah, okay, everyone's locked in.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
So if there was a fire up song even I
guess you don't want to pump up in the car
like a couple of hours out.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
You've got to pay yourself, yeah, time and build into
the game.

Speaker 8 (05:50):
But yeah, I just normally just listen to the radio
on the way and trying.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
That's right, going, That's enough that I'll tell you. Is
there any better build for any club in the competition
than running out to this? And they're saying this was
the biggest and the best one in the history of
the game. You hear that, how do you feel to

(06:39):
their hairs up on the back of the neck when
you hear that.

Speaker 8 (06:41):
Yeah, it gives you goosebumps every time you run out
to it. It never gets old. And to see it packed
the out stadium like that, it's incredible.

Speaker 7 (06:48):
Did you notice when you're on the field that they
did it right like maybe five minutes before the end
of the game as well, because it looked like you
guys were going to win.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
It's just a bit of a pump up, let's go again.

Speaker 8 (06:56):
Yeah, No, that was pretty surreal as well, Like it
gives you goosebumps, and yeah, to hear you fans celebrating
like that and being able to do that before full
time is pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah, crikey.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
All right, So now we get ready for a home final.
The thing is, there's still a game left in the
regular season. Are you going to play this weekend?

Speaker 4 (07:16):
No?

Speaker 8 (07:17):
I'm not playing on one of ten that it arrested
and so that's But how.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Exciting is it around the club for guys that have
been part of that squad all season that are going
to have their debut game. We've got four debutantes.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Yeah, it's really exciting.

Speaker 8 (07:29):
I feel like this year we've been really healthy, so
we haven't changed the team too much and we've been
winning as well, so that always helps. But then boys
that get their shot this year this week. Sorry, I've
been tremendous training against us all year and they've had
really good, strong seasons in New South Wales Cup and
I'm really excited to see them play.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Would you be nervous for the Dolphins? So they need
to play to keep their finals types a lot coming
out football, but a team full of young guys and
other players that have maybe only had one or two
looks in for the season, they're going to show up too.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yeah they are.

Speaker 8 (08:03):
And we've got the best young kids in the country
I feel and not only just the competition, but yeah,
I feel like they'll come out and put a great
show on.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
They trained really well all week and yeah, can't wait soon.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
And we've got a new captain, Big Ready is going
to be captaining this weekend, which is exciting for everyone involved.
But we mentioned off air, he is going to have
to make sure he contains himself, right, You can't be
fiery if you're a captain.

Speaker 8 (08:25):
Yeah, No, he's absolutely thriving. Anytime you give Red a
role like that, he thrives. And he's come such a
long way this year and I'm so happy for him.
And yeah, he's really happy on and off the field,
and he's shown in his footy.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Rod's disappointed.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
You love to see him get fired. I love sing.
That's why I'm not the coat. That's right when we're
out there for a home final, which is so when
you had to buy a few weeks ago, you went
up to mum and Dad's it's going to be different
this weekend in spite of the fact that you're not playing,
what do you do for the weekend off?

Speaker 8 (08:56):
Yeah, so sick. He's made it pretty clear and we
feel that as well. It's not a rest week for us.
We're just having a week off in terms of not playing,
training and that all stays the same, and our bodies
and that holding up well. It's more just about not
getting injured or suspended and no one exactly who who
we're going to be playing Smart Point the finals.

Speaker 6 (09:15):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
I mentioned last week my nephew came down from North Queensland.
He's been watching you guys and seeing that bike and
clap for the last decade and wanted to be part
of it. And after he met you and he got
a photo, we were so pumped and you'd left and
he said, he's my only raider in the Super Coach
team that I have.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Must be the cheapest.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Said, did you tell Hard already goes? No, I didn't
want to be that guy, I said. He would have
loved it. Do you have people reach out to you
ever and report to you how you are traveling in
the Super Coach as far as your value and your
points return and all these sorts of things.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
It's something of the players.

Speaker 8 (09:50):
We don't really sort of look into that or care
about that stuff, but you always get people messaging it about.
It's become a pretty big thing, especially on Instagram that.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
With all the pages stuff. Oh yeah, it's reports back
on it if you haven't got the right score for them.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Something that's completely off the topic of footy.

Speaker 7 (10:09):
It is Father's Day this weekend and you do swish
videos so people can pay for a video of you
saying Happy Father's Day or whatnot to anyone that asks,
where are your boundaries when it comes to people asking
for a video like will you sing?

Speaker 6 (10:21):
Will you dance?

Speaker 8 (10:22):
Muddy Muffin singing. But no, I don't really have many boundaries.
I won't I won't dance on single there though, boundaries.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
We need to find a higher price, right, We'll work
on that, mate. Enjoy this this week. We can't wait
to share this finals campaign with you, and we'll talk
about that when we get a little bit closer. But
Minor Premiu is one of the great achievements in the
history of the club and the competition. Well done. Thanks
again for the time, and we can't wait to see

(10:55):
the team minus you, I guess in a weird way
this weekend.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Yeah, jeez, guys, thanks for having up.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Your daughter. Olivia is just about to happy twenty second
month versary.

Speaker 7 (11:06):
Yesterday I got an email from something I signed up
to when she was an embryo, telling me like what
happens at every stage of pregnancy.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
And how big they are and all of that pancy.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
Yeah, like it started way back where it was like
she's the size of a grape, and now she's and
then after.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
She was born it was all the leaps and stuff.

Speaker 7 (11:26):
I got this random email from them saying happy twenty
two month birthday.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Well, happy twenty two month. A day whatever it's called for. Yesterday,
she's made a surprising choice of her favorite music genre.
I understand, is it this?

Speaker 7 (11:43):
You know it's not that, okay, but I wouldn't say
it's no, it's not that, but a similar surprise.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
So I do have an example for you of what
we heard.

Speaker 7 (11:53):
But it was a real mistake as to how it
came about. And we have talked about this music in
the past, but I didn't think Olivia would be into it.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
But she's really into wheels on the bus.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
At the moment.

Speaker 7 (12:05):
And I got home the other day from I was
at a lunch with my sisters and I got home
and she was sitting on her rocking horse doing wheels
on the bus with all of the movements.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
And we always get Alexa to play the music.

Speaker 7 (12:17):
Fantastic, you know, don't need all the screen time all
the time, so Alexa holds her hand when the TV's
on on. And the next day she wanted wheels on
the bus again, and I was like, sure, let's do
wiels on the bus. What a fun time, And so
I went Alexa, Sorry, if anyone's near their Alexa right now,
can you please play wheels on the bus. And normally

(12:38):
she would automatically go to a Wiggles tune or a
Coca Melon tune because that's our common song choice, and
this is kind of Wiggles, but it's a little bit different.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Up and down, up and down, up and down. Alright.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
This is Lenny, who was the hot Wiggles brother and
he does tech no versions of kids songs. So this
just randomly came out Alexa and I was like, oh no,
because Olivia is very fragile.

Speaker 6 (13:17):
She's going through the getting.

Speaker 7 (13:18):
Towards her two years kind of stage where just the
tiniest thing.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Consider off it can make her very upset.

Speaker 7 (13:26):
So when this starts playing and she'd ask feels on
the bus, I was like, oh no, here we go.
She's gonna have tandy and she looked at me and
just does.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Throwing her head around, children out of the room.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
That's that's that's you know where she got from from?

Speaker 7 (13:41):
Never record You're well, you're more into dance music than
I am. So as she gets older, I think he'll
be the one that has to take her out.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
If this is the kind of music she is in two,
it's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
We're gonna be listening out for that for the next couple.

Speaker 6 (14:04):
Of hours, Rod and Gabby versus the world.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
All Right, this is so hard and we're married. It's
so hard to find love, and we're so lucky. A
lot of people are searching for that for the first,
for the second, for the tenth, for the twentieth time, whatever,
just trying to find that person, and we keep hearing
what torture it is, and we keep saying we're here
to help, we know what we're doing. Yeah, yet here

(14:27):
we are.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
We don't know what we're doing.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
We have failed at every turn. We're not good. But
I will say that as far as giving couples that
have been unlucky in love, I think the best chance
Producer Chelsea, let's cross to her now. Your matchmaking experience
and your appreciation for the craft has got us so
close on a number of occasions, to the extent that
after the speed dates that we conducted last Friday night,

(14:51):
we had a number of people say, we're going to
go on a second day now for whatever reason, Why
do you think it's not materialized, you know, over the
coming days.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
I don't know. I think that people are too nice, right,
and they just say yes off the back of it.
But after some thought, because obviously the speed date was
only a three minute very quick.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Yeah, it was very quick.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
So I think initially they say yes, and then after
a bit of thought, they say, oh, we'll just be friends.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
That's why I think the problem with the messaging is
people find out too much about one another.

Speaker 6 (15:28):
Yes, don't get to know each other.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
No, no, no, don't do that. My point is we
would have a highest strike rate of success with second
dates if people didn't to know the other person wasn't
for them.

Speaker 7 (15:42):
Maybe we should have taken that out of the equation
and made the message through us.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Oh, Chelsea would have loved that.

Speaker 5 (15:47):
I would have.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
So on Friday night you paired up Sammy and Talia
and it has proven to be one of the funner parts.
We didn't see this coming of doing a speed date
through a wash tunnel at Waves car wash, being blindfolded
and getting into the car. We didn't. We didn't think

(16:10):
for a second in all the planning and all the
organizing that act would be so challenging. But I was
a fan of Sammy when he was being led to
the car and he's got in before he'd even taken
the blindfold off. Because of this moment.

Speaker 8 (16:24):
Yep, that's the roof, yep, and take a fix.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Then there. Let's let's not do a burnout. Let's not
do a mad skid. As much as I'd liked him,
keep the blindfold on as much as I liked you know,
we all go, well, we've all gotten into a car.
But if it's a different car, and by the way,
and you're blindfolded like you're you're in the dead of

(16:48):
night and you've been sat into a thing, yeah, you
can accidentally go on. Which was hilarious.

Speaker 6 (16:55):
It was a good start.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
So it was a good we were we were in
love with Sammy before Tari you had actually got into
the car. All right, Let's go to to the moment
that they actually take the blindfolds off. Here we got
so much, so many things happened here, and here it
is as they meet one another for the first time. Beautiful,

(17:17):
And you guys can remove your blindfolds in three You
can leave it on you want to make it more exciting,
you can, but you have the option to remove blindfolds
in three. Two.

Speaker 6 (17:31):
I'm nice to meet you.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Have you left that? So what do you do for work?

Speaker 5 (17:39):
I'm a plumber?

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Oh cool work.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yeah, becausumptuous. Okay, all right, all right. I work in education.
I've been in education for about nine nearly nine years,
and so was I helpful in the background in trying
to create some laughs? Or did I point out that
summing here skipped ahead, he'd put a cart before a
horse and can't I've just meant you, I've got some

(18:04):
work for you today.

Speaker 7 (18:05):
I feel like Talia took it in jest. I think
you did, okay, but it could have gone the other way.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
We at the end of that couldn't believe our luck.
This date. They were in sync, They were laughing, they
had fun. They are my favorite couple.

Speaker 6 (18:21):
Yeah, me too.

Speaker 7 (18:22):
They were really just lovely people and they seem to
get along so well.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Yes, now I am so nervous to find out, given
our strike rate is zero and three at this stage.
That's right, Producer, Chelsea. Have you heard from either of
Sammy and Talia? But I guess before we say that.
After they left us and we brought the car around
for the next day, they spoke with you. Yes, and

(18:48):
you said, hey, listen, is there a future here? And
what did they say?

Speaker 1 (18:53):
They said yes straight off the back, Yes, both of them.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
And they haven't messaged each other, so they can't mess
it up. Is that what's happened?

Speaker 1 (19:04):
So Sammy did ask for Talia's number, and a lot
of the other dates had messaged me saying it hasn't
worked out, we're just friends. I haven't got a message
from them, which I think is a good sign because
they are not denying that. They they didn't say that,
Oh thank you so much for the opportunity, but we're

(19:25):
going to part way.

Speaker 6 (19:25):
They just haven't. Maybe they're angry at us.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
No, No, they were lovely.

Speaker 7 (19:30):
They were too nice, way too nice, and maybe they're
just you know, potentially going on another date this weekend,
and so they don't want to.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
I honestly wouldn't put it past them.

Speaker 6 (19:39):
This could be it.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Follow up to you. How I know that Talia was fun?
I had a is there any secuterari board thing?

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
I find the term secutary board potential. A box of food.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
He had some Deli bits and Bobs.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Had a box. It was fantastic, a great one, very good.
It was to share. But no one understandably given you
on a date once to anything to end up in
their teeth.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
They got three minutes. You don't have time to eat.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
That's a great point.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Well I did.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I was just sitting back there anyway. Uh, and so
Talia when she turned around at the end of the day,
it saw that I had the box of food, reached
back and grabbed a dorito, and she was the only
one that took advantage of that.

Speaker 6 (20:15):
Yeah, She's like, oh what you got there?

Speaker 2 (20:17):
So I think they're a beautiful couple.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
G this.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
So we we haven't. We haven't got a and I
don't have a sound effect for it. So with the
moment we have it and we'll just have to wait.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
We'll have to report back, all right, the sound of.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Our whole of You know, if.

Speaker 7 (20:35):
This was the first date that we played this week,
we would be so cocky about it. We like, it's
haven't because there's been so much unsuccess.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
I know, we're just so nervous and you can hear
the desperation of our voice. Come on,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
