Speaker 1 (00:00):
We've had a ball since Pink Pony Club was released
a month or two ago, finding all the cover versions.
Everyone's done a different version.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Well the Wiggles Lucky Wiggle had one changed. Club has
a pony called Pons exactly.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Elton John had to go the TikTok Grandpa was fantastic,
and then these boys had a crack Our favorites human
nature and we got Hay in a second, how is
this gonna go? You know? And they're just what they
(00:36):
do with their voices. I said yesterday, can your ears
ever be mesmerized? And the answer is, I think so.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Phony Club. I'm going to keep bon dancing at the
Pink Pony Club. I'm going to keep Pon dancing at
the Pink Pony Club.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
That was enough for me. It was awesome, and they went, no, no,
wait for more.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Keeping that's a Pink Pony Club, want to keep.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
In a second, Andrew joins to.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Keep Phony Club, to keep Pink Pony Club.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I can't believe how good it is. I can't believe
how lucky we are to actually cross to Las Vegas. Andrew,
you do you in the middle of doing the school run,
your little girls ready to be picked up and you're
chatting to us, mate, congratulations on everything, and that song
has that blown up for you.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Oh it's funny, funny, Am I just about to go
into my own Pink Pony Club here back in Las Vegas.
So perfect timing, you know. It's we had no idea
that so many people would love our fun version of
Pink Pony Club. It's gone. We just it's been crazy.
So it's kind of such a fun song and we
just thought we'd have fun with it like that. So
(01:53):
I'm glad you like it.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
We love it, We love it, and we love that
you are coming back to Cambery in October.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
We can't wait for that.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
But before we talk about the tour, I did see
on your Instagram that you're practicing ice skating at the moment,
because you did promise your daughter that you're going to
get really, really good for when you go ice skating
in France. Are you up to doing some jump spins yet?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Well though they call it a double axel and I
haven't quite nailed it yet, but I did. I did
get there. It was we went to France for Christmas,
and so I promised her that I was skating with
her and I made it. We got on the ice
and I didn't fall over and break my legs.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
So I was very proud of that human nature on ice.
You know, well it would be fantastic. We know it
works for Disney. I mean, you're in Las Vegas. If
you say this too loud, someone's going to put.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
It on human nature on ice on Pink Ponies. There
you go doing motown.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
The Pink Ponies have ice skates side. I've got so
many images.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
The brainstorm has just begun. This Las Vegas life sounds extraordinary.
Much like a lot of Australians they think Canberra is
one thing, and a lot of people around the world
think Las Vegas is one thing. But that suburban Las
Vegas life you're they're doing the school run. I mean,
is it normal enough living over there day to day?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Well, I've been here for now fifteen years and so
we've really my life is very normal during the day,
like I take my little girl to school and then
go to the gym and go to the grocery store,
and you know, there's sometimes there's amazing things like we'll
go down to the strip and be part of incredible environment.
But yeah, there is this normal suburban life outside of
the kind of hustle and bustle of the Strip, and
(03:28):
it's it's it's a great city. I love living here.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
What's the biggest culture shock from leaving Australia moving to
the States and living there, because you've got your brother there,
so it's not like you're there isolated and also Toby
from human nature. But what was the biggest difference that
you had to kind of get used to.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
I guess the biggest one of the major things, and
it's actually more of a shock coming back home to
Australia is how Vegas and most of America's open twenty
four to seven, you know, so there's really you know,
when you get back to Sydney, it's like the shops
close at five o'clock. It's like, what's going on? So
there was that it's almost like a reverse culture shop.
(04:08):
But you know, it's fine, but that that's a really
big change for me.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
You mentioned going to the gym a second there ago,
and I remember I can hear myself coming back. I'm
gonna turned the down for a second and ask the question,
then I'll turn you back up. As a young man,
I remember interviewing you a number of times, and I
remember markedly there was during the nineties and you come
on the show, and then a year or two later
you turn up and I said, hang on a second,
(04:33):
your blokes have been to the gym. And was there
a moment there in your career where all of a
sudden you started focusing on health and fitness. Because I
noticed a visible change. All of a sudden your muscles
were much bigger.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
I think it was just more that I finally, you know,
I'd always like the gym. I've always liked staying in shape,
but it's it's probably what you eat and you know,
and just taking a bit more seriously and you know,
probably wearing less you would see more. There was a
time there where we didn't wear sleeves. All our shirts
had their sleeves removed from about two thousand to two
thousand and six. So it was just like it was
(05:11):
a human, actual culture change.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Living in Las Vegas, I assume everyone if you're doing
the school pickup, you'll be surrounded by other mums and dads.
Are they all in entertainment or do they all just
do normal jobs as well? Do you bump into any
other famous people when you're doing the school run.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I am not at my daughter's school. I haven't seen
anyone else in the industry. It's still it's still fascinates
people when you have to tell them what you do
for a living and you say, oh, I'm in a band,
and go what kind of band? I used to be
in a band, and then I kind of hesitate, I
hesitate to say what I do. I said, well, we're
a band called Human Age. Oh are you famous? Well,
if you google it, you probably see who we are,
(05:46):
and then they you know. Although the other day I
did meet a World Series Poker champ and he lives
here in Las Vegas, and so he was telling me
about his Wikipedia page and I kind of I didn't
want to kind of one up him, but I said,
we've got one too, so you can check that out.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
But that is wild to me that you say that
are from Human Nature in Las Vegas and people don't
know who you are, because if you said human Nature
in Australia ever, like, oh have court, like we all
know you. You're practically royalty here in Australia. I went and
saw you guys last time you were here, and it
was such a phenomenal show going through all of your
eras of boy band to motown and everything in between.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
So you're coming back to Canberra.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Is it that kind of vibe still or is it
all more motown, more old school?
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Like, what are we expecting?
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Well, and he said, this too, is a celebration. It
was twenty years ago we did that first Motown record,
which was a real game changer for us. It really
took us by surprise. You know, we'd always loved that music,
but it was such a huge success and really then
led us to Las Vegas. So we're celebrating that record
and we do a couple of our original songs as well,
but mostly it's a celebration of the Motown music and
(06:55):
what they start for our career is that's a super
fun show.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
We'll pick Pony Club make an appearance.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Maybe in the sound check, but it hadn't yet made
it to the main setlist, but you know, you never know,
it might gain momentum.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Especially for Camber. You can just slip that one in there.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Why not.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
That was a promise.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
You commit to it now, or we'll start chanting the
middle of the show and it'll be a thing. Gabby,
how do we get tickets by the way. If there
are any left.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
You can't go to ticket tech dot com, dot a youu.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
It's happening Friday the seventeenth of October at Llewellyn Hall.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Andrew, thank you for bringing the Boys back. We love
you here, you know that, and in the meantime letting
us interrupt school pick up. It is a really important time,
so we're very grateful for that and we look forward
to seeing you back in the Capitol my pleasure.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
I appreciate you letting us talk about the show and
we look forward to come to Canberra for sure.
