Speaker 1 (00:00):
They came bounding over.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
What's a procedure?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
God, this is Roden Gabby versus the world.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
We are getting calls from people Bunged doorway to say
that Sarge the camp the camera cavalry mascot when we
had a baseball team, one of our most famous mascots
obviously hasn't had a lot of work to do since
the comp was called off.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
He's been spotted.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Walking along the roadside down your way in bungendor And
so we have called through two Sarje who is on
the line now, Sarje, are you on the side of
the road.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
At the moment?

Speaker 5 (00:45):
Morning? Rod and Gabby? How are we?

Speaker 4 (00:47):
We're very well, what road do you want made?

Speaker 5 (00:50):
I'm on the King's Highway. We'll just come past that
canter site. Actually we just pulled up for a little
bit of a break. How good are those cant sites?
Actually absolutely a part of what.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Make the capital of the greatest city in the world.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
We're about maybe five k's out of Bungham.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
Door so far, yeah, three three k's yeah, so we
just cagulated. Three k's not too bad. So we've got
twenty two to go and so on.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Are you okay?

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Day you're actually doing the walk from bungendor to Queen
Beean partly to raise awareness but also to raise a buck.
There are a few more important days on the calendar,
are there.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
Yeah. Look, it's one of those times. Like I said
earlier in an interview earlier a couple of weeks ago,
and I just said to him, you know, it's this
time of year is very difficult for a lot of people.
You know, we come out of winner, we hibernate for
a little bit, and you know, we sort of lock
ourselves up for a while, and when it comes into
this warmer months, we you know, we come sometimes a

(01:50):
little rattled and people are doing it tough. You know,
the messages that I've received this morning alone have just
been so humbling and overwhelming. At a bit of a
peer Amie as we left Lay George today, because I
think this walk means so much to a lot of people,
just not only myself.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
It's a really important day to be spreading that message
today around Are you ok day? I just want to
make sure you are okay for this walk because walking
along that highway it's a busy one. There's no sidewalk,
You're in a huge sarge head with the peripheral vision.
You've got people with you.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Right, well, that makes you more noticeable, easier to spot.
That's true.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Yes, I've got an awesome little crew with me. And
in fact, one of those crew members is the most
famous Johnny Lang, which you guys are going to be
there tomorrow at his Lang's Auto said with the Raiders sausages.
So yeah, he's part of the crew. And I've got
two guys, Graham and then Graham and the boys Cliff

(02:49):
Darryl wil Was who walked with me for the ten
k's that we used to do a couple of years
back in the sarg suit. So you know, we've got
a good little tight crew. But as I said, I'm
encouraging everyone, if everyone, to come and join to get
us at kmpz Oval at five pm in queen In
there to do the last leg. You know, it's if
you're up for it and you want to be a
part of it and you just want to sort of

(03:12):
take it the time to reflect on your own mental
health or someone else's mental health. You know, by all
means join us there at five or you know, bear
the finish line at Hotel queen In.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
We love it, Sarge. Good on you for getting out
the creating talk straight away. I people are going, hey, why.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Is Sarg walking on the side of the road, And
that's the question we want to ask. And the next
question we want to ask is are you okay?

Speaker 4 (03:33):
And today's the day in Australia's annual mental health Awareness
initiative Are you okada? Just to check it on your mates?
I mean I encourage us to do it, you know,
every week or every month or whatever it is. If
you haven't done it this year, just look around to
the people in your life or the person you haven't
called for too long. You I must catch up with
old mate, give them a buzz even you send them

(03:55):
a message today hey mate.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
Yeah, that's right mate. It's really important. And as you said, Rod,
you nailed it on the head. And you know today
we shouldn't be checking in on our mates just this day.
We should be doing it every day, you know, and
making sure that this today is about just ensuring that
you know, we're looking after ourselves and taking a bit
of a reflection. But at the same time, you know,

(04:18):
it's just making sure that that message is clear that
you know we're going to be checking in on everyone.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Good man, keep up that walk, stay safe out there,
and it'll be a great reward when you hit the
finish line. We appreciate you creating more awareness around are
you okay day today?

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Thank you? Looking forward to that beer when I get back.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
You're about to say, there's no mistake as to why
you chose Hotel Queen Yen the vital destination.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
Well, and the only reason I chose like George Hotel
to start off with at the start of the morning
was because I knew they were going to be closed.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yeah all right, Brotherwise, I.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Was starting at the bakery and then we're in trouble
there a couple of prises.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
It's not your first rodeo. Well done your mates, Stay
safe out there.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Yeah, I love you guys. Thank you very much for
the support.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Producer Chelsea joining us now and as a West Australian,
you are representing a part of Australia that were you
aware because you grew up, you lived your whole life
there and then you came over here for the reality
TV show Farmer Want's Wife and then.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
You joined our show. That's a very very synopsized.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Version, but that's pretty much the what happened.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Whilst living in w A. Did you know did you
know that you thought you're better than everyone else as
a state?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
No?

Speaker 3 (05:35):
No, no, But did you know that w A wants
to leave Australia?

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Do they?

Speaker 5 (05:39):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, absolutely, especially during COVID.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
We actually during COVID, we we did think we were
better than everyone.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, imagine being over there here.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
It is us right.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
When you travel around Australia, we're becoming too much the same.
And it's great when you land somewhere and you go,
I am somewhere different and w A is that because
And it's not just because of this, but I was
really pleased to see something that I thought, what the
hell's happening here?

Speaker 3 (06:13):
There's a Canadian TikToker has posted.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
A video and just as a caption on it and
so there's no point in me playing it for you.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Could you go here?

Speaker 4 (06:21):
And it reads someone help? Is this just a Western
Australia thing. I've never seen this before? And it's just
a video in the fruit and vegg department at the
Woolies over there in w A in Perth, and all
the red onions are peeled.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
We that's so normal to me.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
What so when you came here and you saw out.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
The peeled red onions.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Because that job is that, just to peel all the onions.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
There's a guy that's terrible.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
I didn't cry.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
About his job, but that's just his job.

Speaker 6 (06:59):
Always avoid buying white onions because you'd have to. They're
just crumble everywhere, but the skin off, Yeah, like the
top layer of the skins, very crumbly.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Why do West Australians not peel the white onions?

Speaker 3 (07:13):
No one wants to do that job. That's even worse
than the red onion.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
I don't know right whoa This is so crazy and.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
So yes, the rest of Australia was thoroughly confused by
because this Canadian had been to the East Coast and
being to different cities and then.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Got over there and went, this is unusual. But you
guys don't know another world without no peeled onions.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah? Is that why Tony abbitt ate the onion? Because
he was in w A and it was already peeled,
So why not?

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Maybe finally that moment of insanity in Australian politics.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
And it makes perfect sense.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Didn't have to peel it.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
I think he was at an onion farm. I think
he was trying to just be supportive of the local
onion farmers.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
He was trying to be supportive of that poor guy.
There's to peel all the onions.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
This is yeah, And he thought he was upset, but
he was fine. It was just his job. So this
is done though.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
This is one of two examples on the national stage today.
The WA is a bit different and I love it.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Yeah, because I found one as well where it was like,
the Bunnings in Wa does things differently. You know how
every single Bunnings when you go to the sausage sizzle,
they're exactly the same. It's always the same sausages, the
same bread, everything else. Even though the charity changes, the
sausage sang is the same. You get to w A
and they use hot dog buns, is it?

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Do you do that?

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (08:27):
And that's normal because when I got here, No, when.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
I got here, I we were going to Bunnings pretty
regularly on the weekends and we'd.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Be like, oh, we'll just grab a sausage sizzle and
I was like, God, none of these Bunnings have buns.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
They're all bread. I was like, popo, but who it
comes a WA attitude.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
This is where I'm with producer Chelsea.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
No, it's too much bread ratio.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
It's you've got a beautiful soft bun or you've just
got a piece of bread just flapping around.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I have an opinion, mister vegoe w.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
I can have a.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Source in there, Rodin Gabby versus.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
The world controversy controversy. I found myself saying controversy. Weird
did but it was to tap now and there is
a high profile controversy coming out of The Amazing Race,
which that's got.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
A new season that started a week or two ago.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Now we only just recently started. This weekend passed so
it is the Amazing Race Celebrity Edition again. So we've
had a few of these renditions and there's a bunch
of Celebrits that are part of it. There was a
big controversy because we knew that Ed Middleton and his
brother were asked to leave the show and we didn't
know how that was going to play out on TV.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Is his brother homophone? Is that the story?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Well, that's the story. Yeah, So last night they were
asked to leave and it was a very kind of
glossed over part of the show where they didn't go
into any details, just said that I think it was
like a voice over. They just said and they've been disqualified.
But it has been revealed that there was some intimidation

(10:10):
and some homophobic comments made and it was actually Fev
Brendan for Vola that stood up for Sassi Scott and said,
if this continues, I'm out of here, Like you've got
to get rid of them or I'm out, And so
that's why they were asked to leave.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Well done Brendan for Vola. Yes, Sas Scott been on
the show a bunch of times.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
I love him.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Fantastic bloke, v A leader. Yes, and so.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
It's very easy stood up for what was right.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
And you hear people talk about having the courage of
their convictions, but it's very easy to stand by and go, well,
it's not me, it's not affecting me else, someone else
will sort it out. Brendan for Vola, Bearnikom hero, well
done and you've set a great example for Australia.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
So Sassy Scott has said the majority of people were
just as uncomfortable as him as the cast when all
of these things were happening, So he doesn't think anyone
was standing by idly. But Fev was the one who
stood up. So that was but that's like the big
news today, that's what everyone's talking about. And there was
a quick little Byeline that caught my attention because I'm like, wow, wow, wow,

(11:13):
why aren't we talking about this as well? So the
first eliminated on The Amazing Race last night was Tiff
Hall and Ed Cavally hit couple in the history of Australia.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
If you're thinking where do we know Tiff from?

Speaker 4 (11:27):
She was she's in a black belt, she's a martial artist,
she's a physical trainer and she I think appeared on
the last season or two of Biggest Losers.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
That right, that is correct, and she also has her
wonderful program called Tfexo and she does some incredible work
in the fitness field. Ed Cavaly obviously a comedian on
have You Been Paying Attention and a few other bits
and bobs, and he's on all those ads at the moment.
For I think it's a yui.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
What people don't know about Ed? You're sending me your
shirt off? He's so so fit is a malleyball.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
So the fact that they were the first eliminated and
I was like, would they they were favorites and people
are so disappointed because we wanted to see more of them. Yep,
and it turns out they didn't get to They didn't
finish one of the challenges they needed to finish in
order to complete that leg of the amazing race, and
so that was well, No, there was a time that

(12:18):
what do you call it, like a they had to
sit down for twenty minutes. They couldn't finish the leg
for twenty minutes, like a penalty, So they had to
sit there for twenty minutes and they watched all the
other teams come through and finish that leg.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Oh, like a stopgo penalty in f one.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Yeah, and it turned out seventeen seconds left of their penalty.
In the last couple it was, the Clims came through
and so their penalty meant that they were disqualified and
they were out.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
First couple out the Clims. Michael a clim in it.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
I don't think it's Michael.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
I don't think he can move because he's obviously suffered this.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Clym and her daughter Stella, good for them, Blanese Princess
Lindy Klem.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
So he's excellence, okay, good, good, Okay, Well there's a show.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
That now we know is on, but you won't see
twofer ned but I'm into it. But Scott still.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
The Chelsea Hillary Duff we know her from?

Speaker 3 (13:23):
I don't think this is Gabby's making the face of no,
we don't know her from?

Speaker 5 (13:27):
This?

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Is there another one in the system called Clean Queen
Clean Clean? That was probably the more popular song. I
read him.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
I don't know, I know Lizzie maguire from I know,
I've just called her Lizzie maguire.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
She was, Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
I know her as Liz mc from Liz McGuire.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, clean, there we go.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Yeah, this is it?

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Intro?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Where's it's all?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
I think this is one of the reality TV shows
to what do You? Laguna Beach? Maybe this was the
theme song.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
This is the second time you've been saying things And
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
The Hills. You know the Hills, Yes, the prequel to
that Laguna Bees the original and yeah, they're at high
school and then the heels is when they went to
they moved to Hollywood to do college and whatnot?

Speaker 3 (14:24):
I know the Hills?

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yes, before that listener you go? And why am I
calling her?

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Turns out the only thing people actually.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
Know, she looks so young, like she would be quite
young because she's only thirty seven.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Now, she's so young still.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
I think it's what you're saying, very Yes, that is young.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
My goodness, No said she still looks very young.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Myself.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
You're young, saying like that makes Gabby older.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
But hills are just forming in front of your eyes anyway.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
No, you're great. I've been somewhere.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
No.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
Hillary Duff has made an announcement that she is releasing
new music and a dock series.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Okay, bring it up.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
It's been ten years since her last album.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
That's okay, So this is a big, a big thing. Okay.
So she has she been doing any acting?

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Oh? No, she had. She was in Young Younger Sorry
on stand So that was She was.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Also in the sequel of How I Met Your Mother?

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Right, Oh yeah, okay, And so she's gone, but I
want to go back to the music.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Well, I think she got a little bit burnt because
they were going to be redoing a Lizzie McGuire TV show.
They were going to bring it back, but her and
Dizzy could not agree on how it was going to
play out because she wanted it to be Lizzie Maguire now,
which would make it an adult TV show because it
would have to be adult aimed at adults, not necessarily

(16:00):
adult theme to be you know, aimed at at But
Disney like, no, it's was in Maguire. We still want
it to have the same feel and whatnot of what
it used to have, and they disagreed wholeheartedly on that.
So it was in the works. It was actually happening,
and then it all fell apart because Hillary Duff was like,
I'm just not going to do that. That's disservice to
my fans who have grown up with me.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
And that's the thing that's it seems like Disney and
you don't sort of think about this ever because everything
that touch turns to gold. But they're missing a tricky
if you keep it, Yeah, you know you're.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Young, you're not getting the audience you had.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Correct, you have to start from scratch, you're building a
new audience. Yeah, and they don't know the brand.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
That's not the point. It's meant to be nostalgia in
a remake or you know, a sequel or whatnot. So
it all fell apart and that's not happening anymore. And
everyone was very disappointed. So I think this is her
way of being like, well, I'll bring you something, but
I guess that is done, So let's go back to music.
I don't know. I don't think think she's the strongest singer.

(17:01):
I think that's.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Maybe why it's like coinciding with this docu series.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
You needs something else to back it up. Yeah, well
maybe yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Well let's have the docu series Glosses in the last
ten years, because it's a real snooze.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Rod and Gabby versus the world.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Why we're all gonna love this new Jonas Brothers movie,
And by we all, Gabby means you rock.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
I think you will love it purely for the byeline.
But I'll get to that in a minute. Because this
was really exciting stuff. Everyone was expecting a Camp Roc
three announcement from Jonas Brothers because they did have Demi
Levado do a guest appearance during their tour. They've had
so many guest appearances though, it has been insane. So
they've had Demi Levado, They've had Hansoen, they've had five Sauce,

(17:46):
there was someone else that was really cool. Anyways, they've
had a different cameo for every show, and when Demi
Levado got up and sang with them. Everyone was like,
that's it. We know Camp Rock three is coming.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
So what's the word you're saying?

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Camp Rock?

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Camp Rock three?

Speaker 2 (18:03):
So the Disney movie was camp Rock and then there
was camp Rock two, Camp Rock three? What people were hoping.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Camp camp Rock three? You were saying, like I knew
what it was.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
You should know what it is.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Fine, and we're all in that. We're all up to speed.
Camp Rock three.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
It's where the Jonas brothers and Demi Levado really got famous.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
I guess that's right, isn't it. No, that's right.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
I've seen camp Well, I've watched Camp Rock walking past
with my daughter's been watching right, I'm across.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Camp Rock Well, it's not happening. Sorry to disappoint you
after getting you to that high note.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
Ah, Can I apologize to everyone that I spent so
much time delving into camp Rock three. Daddy was glossing
over it for a reason I didn't understand, and I
went to stop everything, tell us more about this camp
Rock three.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
It's not happening. No, it's not on However, there is
a movie coming out. They've just anown.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
It is on.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Disney, and it is called a very Jonas Christmas movie.
So the brothers are trying to make it home to
New York from London in time for Christmas with their families,
and things don't quite go to plan. The trip back
from the UK to the US becomes a snowfield adventure,
and there's going to be Nick's wife, Prianca Chopra, as

(19:23):
well as Jesse Tuller Ferguson that are going to be
coming owing. But the bit that I think you will
love the most is the tagline of the movie, go on,
let it brow, Let it brow, Let it brow.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
I was hoping that there was going to be something
about the bonus Jonas, that Frankie was going to be
in there, the fourth Jonas brother.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
No, that the other.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
Boys don't let in the band of Frankie yet, so
he needs to be in it.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
There be no confusion there, but get.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Back to the family, so he should be there.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Yet, Let it bro Let it bro Well, gone, boys

Speaker 4 (19:59):
I knew I who wouldn't I think My original statement
of why we're all gonna love the New Jonas Brothers
movie stamps

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
