Speaker 1 (00:00):
The great thing about this region is there's one degree
of separation. You chat to someone you got talking to,
old mate, and the person you're talking to goes, yeah, no,
old mate. I went to school with them. I packed
shelves with them at the Dixon Woolworths. I used to
hang out at a bung indoor skateboard. And that's just
Gabby talking about our next guest, who, by the way,
has just gone to number one on the trending fifty.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Of Clouds and Fools. Can I say your in a crowded.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
And he is one of the local success story. He's
one of the great music producers in the world coming
from our neck of the woods. Adam from Peaking Duck
and I made congratulations, by the way, on the Kelly
Holiday success.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Once again, thank you, thank you so much for having
me camera represent what an intro.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Do you get nervous when you speak with locals though,
because you know they know too much?
Speaker 4 (00:59):
No, I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
I think the deeper we go, the better. I think
Camera's got many a character and both Ruben and myself
are very proud to be from that funky bunch Mercy.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Before we get into the fact that Peaking Duck is
coming back to camera very soon. I do want to
have a quick chat about Kelly Holiday, purely for the
fact that back in the day when boy bands were
a thing and one of the members would go off
to do a solo career, it was always a disaster
in terms of the breakup. It was always the group
dynamic crumbled because of it. We're talking justin Timberlake. We're
(01:37):
talking Robbie Williams, like the band didn't survive when one
of them would leave to go solo. But you and
Ruben are still going strong despite your Kelly Holiday success.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Oh yeah, yeah, Wes Stemen were you know, we've worked
on more music and better music than we ever have recently.
We come went to share it or we've been playing
a lot of the new music in the shows and
it's been connecting incredibly well.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Is Reuben. Are you guys traveling at the.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Moment where right now?
Speaker 4 (02:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:03):
On the Frog and Toad to Early Beach from Mackay
via Townsville via cans this morning since since about four am.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Oh that's a drive.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Yeah, I don't know. I think soon I'll pull out.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
I spy fabulous, but I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
We just talk about life and love. Guys, we're all
about union.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Well, I was going to say, speaking of union and love,
your other half Canbra's favorite daughter in law. We had
her on the show when the campaign was going on
to you know, get U two a Buntings. We lobbied
hard for gun Gaal and she said she'd represent we're
talking Abby Chatfield of course. Of course, where did you
end up landing for that gig? By the way, because
captured the attention of the country.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
I really like that. By the way, Camera's daughter in law.
I'm going to tell her that I think that's a
beautiful sentiment. We told her, Yeah, I think she loves it.
I mean she loves camera. We did it in Melbourne
at the Impressed.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
In their Rolin Bunnings in the Running the Gungallan Bunnings.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Wasn't the Runnings?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Will it always be?
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Magnet mart to you?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah, dude, Magnet mart Yes, even screaming yes in the
front seat. I remember we partied with the Magnet mart
Man one night. And let me tell you this much
for free, that man can dance.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
We don't really quickly need to talk about some of outs.
That's what you're coming back to. Canberra for at the
start of the year. Did you grow up going to
some of that's Was that one of the things you
went to each year?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
No, it wasn't something that really went to, but I
think it was inescapable.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
You know, once someone thatts is on, someone ats fever
takes over the town.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
A lot of crazy things happened during that time, and
I mean we look forward to playing out.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
It's it's quite an honor, to be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
So we're keen.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Have you heard about the curse of Jimmy Barnes at
someone out?
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Oh? Please tell me.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Well, he's been lined up to go two years in
a row, not including this year, and both times had
to pull out for more and more extreme ailments.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah, we're worrying. If they booked him this year, that'll
be the end of him. So I think he gave
it a wide bird.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Damn.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
That's I mean, yeah, that's that sucks. I mean, we
love Jimmy, Ruben's works with Jimmy. Jimmy's a legend.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Well, you stay in the old bedroom, is it still
set up when you get here or you stay you know,
at the hotel?
Speaker 3 (04:25):
It is it is still set up funnily enough, there's
a spare room and my mom's I'll probably stay there.
But you know how it is, you go home and
you see a mother and then after like you know,
twenty four hours, it's coming like, okay, maybe we need
some space in a beautiful way.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
If you so you go, you put your bags in
your old room, you go, mum, I'm going to work,
and so you go out, you do some of that?
Is there the danger of you hearing about it if
you get home too late?
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Oh yeah, I think she's well beyond that. Now she's
seen me. She's seen me in.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
All sorts, at all our hours of the morning, and
for that I love her. I would love to say
she lacks judgment. She has judgment in space and I'll
wear it, you know.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Thank goodness, mums are the greatest. And look at even
one of the biggest music producers in the world knows.
Don't come home late or don't bother staying there because
you know what's going to happen. Mate, how you make
sure the rest of you and the team travel safe
because that's a wild part of the world to be
on the roads. And we can't wait to see you
here for the New Year for the celebrations.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
For some of that, thanks so much, guys, you're awesome.
We'll see that for a beer.
