Speaker 1 (00:00):
So I've been thinking about doing this idea for years.
Because I talk so much every day, there's enough of
me out there. This idea had to be something different
for me and also for you, and I think this
is it. I think the objects contain so much meaning,
they literally hum with meaning. On my left hand, I'm
looking at my wedding ring. I've just been married for

(00:23):
twenty one years. When I proposed to my wife, I
was broke. I'd actually borrow money from her to afford
a wedding suit. It was embarrassing. Our wedding rings together
there were one hundred and fifty dollars. Now over the
last few years, I have offered to upgrade our wedding rings,
but we've kept them because it reminds me of a
time when I didn't have a lot of money. I
had a job I hated, and I was just kind

(00:43):
of sleep walking through my life. And that's what this
podcast is really all about. I've invited some of the
world's funniest and best storytellers to share three treasured objects
from their lives and tell us the stories behind them,
stories they rarely told and ones you've never heard before.
When you said the idea, I thought, that's a really
good idea.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
It is difficult to distill it down into three objects
without just trying to like trick the game to be
like whom birth certificod.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
It actually reveals something, not just to you or to
the people listening, but it revealed things to myself.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I wanted to be Janet Jackson's backup dancer. Whenever Janet
did an emotional song, I may have had tears. I
got to VHS and I was hot, and I could roll.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
A leg, no doubt about it. The guitar and I
think I know the same chords now as I did
when I was.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Fourteen, you know what I mean. I'm Christian O'Connell, and
that's coming up on the stuff of legends.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
