Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back. Prince Andrew has reportedly agreed to move out
of the Royal Lodge so long as he and Fergie
are both given separate houses on the Windsor estate. It's
believed Andrew has his eye on Harry and Meghan's former residence,
Frogmore Cottage. His ex wife is opting for life at
Adelaide Cottage. She's put a bit in for that, currently
(00:21):
the home of Prince and Princess of Wales.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
This comes just days after it was revealed the Prince
has only been paying peppercorn rent at the lodge for
the past twenty years, despite the growing scandals surrounding him.
For more, Russell Meyer's Daily Mirror, Royal editor joins us,
now there's a lot to unpack. You do you think
the King will approve these demands?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
First off, well, morning expective. Well, it's hard to know
where this story lands next. Is it the beginning of
the end or the end of the beginning. I'm not
too sure because you know, there are certain demands being
made by Andrew and Fergie. Of course, there's demands from
the people as such as the public sense of revulsion
about this scandal on the King. So what decision will
(01:05):
he have to make in terms of getting Prince Andrew
and Fergie out of Royal Lodge. And that's certainly seems
to be the order of the day because you've got
members of Parliament discussing this, You've got pressure from inside
the family and of course pressure from Fergie and Andrew
demanding places to live. I mean, it's an absolute beggars belief.
So listen, this scandal is not over yet. I mean
(01:28):
we've had days and days of headlines and it's very,
very uncomfortable for the Royal family right now.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah, there are horrific allegations against Andrew. Fergie is not
even in the family. What position do they have to
make demands do you think?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Well, they shouldn't have any position. I mean, Andrew has
always veheminently denied the allegations in front of him, but
certainly he has been proved to have been a liar.
And the details from his email correspondents with Jeffrey Epstein
after he said that he had stopped all contact with
him of very plain to see. And Sarah Ferguson is
(02:02):
very guilty of maintaining that contact with Jeffrey Epstein as well.
And you know Sarah and Ferguson left the royal family
decades ago, and she is now demanding somewhere to live
on the royal estate when she has millions of pounds
at her disposal after a very successful literary career, and
why on earth should she be given anywhere to live,
whether that's at the grace of the king or at
(02:24):
the grace of the British tax payer. I think most
people will find it absolutely revolting behavior.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
And aside to this, the King was heckled after coming
out of a cathedral. Do you think this is going
to be a trend. Do you think people feel empowered
enough now to continue to do this to the king
And how quickly will his patients wear thin?
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Well, it tells you something about this story that it's
not going away, that people do feel very very strongly about.
It reminds me when Harry and Meghan that did the
interview with Oprah Winfrey that people started shouting out about
the king, you know, and Prince William is the Royal
family of racist family. Well, this tells you the sort
of sensible feeling about this scandal with Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein.
(03:08):
The people are bringing to task the King and the
rest of the royal family. So it's very very uncomfortable
for all of them, I'm.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Sure, yeah, exactly for them to be calling out how
long did you know about Andrew and Ebstein to the king?
That is another level, isn't it. Thank you very much
for talking to us today. We'll talk soon about this pleasure.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Thanks guys,
