Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the canber region's most affordable land per square meter
in the heart of Muraen Bateman. Find out more at
Sunningdale Estate dot com dot au. The Super Serious Sports
Show with Chris Coleman at Adam Janssen.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Okay, Adam Jannsen. We didn't get a show last week.
We're back this week, which means potentially we've got a
couple of things that may have caught your eye in
the world of sport in the last fourteen days.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yeah, a lot of cricket. Australia's cricket season is almost here.
After there are their World Cup victory.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Where's our November Test match? I want my November Test match?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Oh it's okay, it's almost December.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
No, no, no, it's November. I want Test cricket.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
No, it's fine. The NBA In season tournament is well
and truly underway, and there was some some results out
of the English Premier League caught may I too.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, I still think we're a week early for it,
but you're going to make me do it today. We
will get into Softer than Totenham a little bit later
on and discuss whether the bubble as well and truly
burst or whether.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
It's softer than Totenham and fitter than Fulham.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Is there an open for fitter than Fulham? No, they
can be there's no opening for it. Then there's no
such thing. There's no such segment. This is, however, the
super serious sports show. First things first, because we haven't
had a chance to do it yet. Congratulations to the
Australian cricket team for winning the World Cup.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yes, AJ, so you're gonna say first things first? Do
we want to address the elephant the room?
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Which elephant? Would that be?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
The George Costanza mustache's had We had a photo shoot today.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, I'm aware of this. I'm aware of this. The
mustache was in place before the photo shoot was I
was notified at the photo shoot. When you have raised
more than one thousand dollars in November, you are contractually
obliged to, I think, keep the mustache for the extra
day and a half after the photo shoot. So the
price I pay is that on all publicity shots from
(01:44):
the station for the next year, I'm gonna have a mustache.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
If Johnny Cash and an out of work adult performer
came together, That's what we have for you today.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Thank you. We'll move right at congratulations to the australick team. Yes,
when you salute them. Look, I think I think a
sixth World Cup out of I think eight finals appearances
off the top of my head, and defeating India in
a tournament that the BCCI basically set everything up for
India to win, I think they deserve one. So Australian
one Day International cricket team, we salute you. What people
(02:20):
probably don't realize is that when we actually say that,
we actually do salute as well.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
We do. Yeah, I know who's not saluting? Who's not
saluting some former Indian cricket players.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Oh, isn't the sooking going on?
Speaker 3 (02:32):
It should be best of three? The best team didn't
win the tournament.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Got news for you? The best team on the day one,
The best team was Australia, My friends, a Green and
Gold all the way.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
You were known on this show for two quotes, am
I one is was there that day and the other
one I.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Was there in nineteen ninety two the World Cup final
played at the MCG and Australia wasn't.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
It's not how you start to finish, And how true
is that they started with two losses? And would they
win It was at nine or ten. Straight from there
they won nine.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
They won seven round robin games plus a semi final
plus final. They won nine and erwo how many in
e roaded India win at the end of the tournament. None,
that's right. They lost the final.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
It's not how you start, it's how you finish.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, they lost by a mile too. Australia started their
innings quite poorly too.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
And then it was a bizarre game. It was a
bizarre game at cricket. Speaking about bizarre, you' know it's
even more bizarre is that half of the Australian team
is still over there for a meaningless twenty twenty international
series of five games.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Did you see the Australian team that took the field
in the first game?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
I didn't recognize most of the Australian team that took
the field in the first game. I didn't know even
played state cricket.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
You know how much how much sport I consume as
a as a just a basically as a single.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Sent you were text saying you want to go for
a bit, and you say no, I'm watching the Orlandic
hockey underwater drowning competition or something. You never leave home.
You're watching television, sport or at work.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, yeah, there's the Australia lineup and I went, who
is that?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
So when you get back to Travis said Joes Englis,
Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Juin, is Tim David Matthew Wade in
the side which is what they had overnight? Plus some
blow called Aaron Hardy.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Plays for scorches. He's got very good He.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Scored sixteen off twelve, so I'm not talking about him.
Glenn Maxwell one hundred and four or forty eight in
a twenty twenty international matches is third hundred of the tour.
The Big Show is finally being the Big Show on
a much more reliable basis.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Do you think and I've been wanting this for years,
do you think they'll give Glenn Maxwell given he's in
the absolute form of his going his powers.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Don't talk about five day cricket. Come on, don't talk
about five day cricket.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Get him in there plaining Pakistan and the West Indies
this summer. It's an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Well, they're going to need something to light the like
the fires on the spectators because I can go it
being huge crowds. Speaking of of schedules, did you see
there's going to be a Sesqui Centenary Test in twenty
twenty seven. The Pom's going to come out Seski centenary,
one hundred and fifty years one Sesqui Sesqui Centenary. I've
(05:18):
never heard the word Sesqui before. You were in Victoria
in nineteen eighty five when they were celebrating their Sesqui centenary.
You heard it all the time. One hundred and fifty years,
but one hundred and fifty years of Test cricket comes
up in March twenty twenty seven, mcg will host one
hundred and fifty years to the day a Test match
between Australia and England.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Now, speaking of Australia versus England, yes, we've all seen
the footage of the cameraman casually taking the catch. What's
got the mullet?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Why has it become huge again? All of a sudden,
just click.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
So of its time. It's for anyone hasn't seen it,
It's everywhere. It's a cameraman taking a catch with his mullet,
casually sitting back into his chair, falls out of dart continues.
He smoked double dragons the smoke light, and then his
mate comes over and goes and he's just like it's
just like, oh yeah, it's just how it goes.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
February eight and February eighth, nineteen eighty seven at the MCG, and.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Guess who was there?
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I was there.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Do you remember it in person?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I remember the catch. I do remember the catch because
we were sitting on the southwestern corner at the MCG.
We were also scratching our heads trying to work out
why is this being played as a day as a
day game when they were a flood lights owl because
the floodlights open at the MCG. I think it was
nine eighty five because I was there for the first
game under lights as well. But we're trying to work
(06:37):
out what was a day game. Anyway, it was a
day game and there both of them came in and
both of them is a player who still gives me
nightmares after the nineteen eight hit. The shot that was
a hit.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
The shot, yeah, because the little thing you miss up
it's like the it's one of those things where it's
like peak nineteen eighties cricket. But then you look at
the scorecard and it's like Australia one hundred and seventy
one for forty odd.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Australia got belted that day, lost the he lost the
best of three Wells Series Cricket Final to England to ZIP.
But yeah, that was that was a monster shot. And
the great thing about the white ball is you could
see it all the way and you thought, yeah, that's gone,
that's gone, that's gone. Oh that's a decent catch. Our
nice play from the from the because the big puffer
smoke came up as well, because you get your smoke
inside the mcg It's great. It was great and if
(07:21):
you haven't seen very of its time, but yes, it
was a very special moment. And let's hope we get
some special moments this summer in cricket.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
I hope. So, Glenn Maxwell Test Team.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
In the absence of Test cricket in November, let's talk
about rugby league, which also isn't on in November. The Raiders,
and we haven't really done a deep dive on the
Raiders yet. This might be terribly deep. It'll be deeper
than a waiting pool, but that's about it.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Oh, I'm ready for the deep dive when you want
to do one.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, well, let's let's talk a little bit about it,
because there has been some news in there. Probably the
biggest news is, especially with all the conjecture about half
backs and five eighths for the Raiders, is that Jamal
foger he has said no, I'm going to stick around.
He signed an extent that sees him locked into camera
until the end of twenty five and a mutual option
for twenty six, which means, I guess if he says
he wants to stay, then he stays. At the club
(08:09):
say we want you to stay, then he stays. They
don't both have to agree, but if one of them
wants to pull the trigger, they can stay in twenty
twenty six.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, it's interesting, but I'm really glad that Jamal Fogerty
has extended his career at the Raiders. I believe he
will most likely be the Raiders captain for season twenty
twenty five. I think Elliott well, I think Elliot Whitehead
has already. If he hasn't officially announced his retirement at
the end of the twenty twenty four season, it is happening.
It's been out there. So Elliot Whitehead obviously will be
(08:39):
the raiderst captain next season, so you would have to
think for season twenty twenty five, or would be Jamal
Fogs or maybe talking twenty five, yeah that's twenty Yeah,
it'll be foguty or you would think maybe Joe Tartaney
who's also up for a Golden Boot award too, by
the way, And I'm me Nichols exactly.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah, and best of luck to both of them. I
reckon Tarpan he's going to be the skipper for a
couple of years. I reckon, I'll get a couple of years.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
He's that guy though.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Yeah, but he's also captain internationally, he's and it seems
that in those games where he's been the skipper, and
I think he's captained a couple of club games as well.
I think he's it seems to lift his performance.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
So can't let the half backs on the field the
whole time, though they're true anyway.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
What do you It could be like West Tigers and
have seventeen captains.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Don't get me started. It went well for a minute,
So the Raiders rosters. So the thirty man squad's got
released for every club or the thirty ish mans I
think summer twenty nine, so the Raiders back down the
twenty eight Brad more Coss has stepped away from rugby league.
It was more Coss on that he was in the
thirty man squad. Yes, he's been upgraded. He had been
one hundred percent. So I'm I'm going to.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Argue with you at this point because I've got the
Raiders thirty man squad according to raiders dot com dot
are you here from the ninth of November, and I
don't see Brad Morcoss there, And I think that was
possibly the factor that led him to in the end
say no, I'm done, because that's why apparently he's been grouded.
The early release was because he said he'd had enough
and had lost the desire to play footy. And I
guess another year of playing news up by was cup
(10:01):
wasn't going to excite him greatly.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Well, you sound like you know more about it than
I do. But I'm looking at the Raiders' website now
and you go to the player profiles and there were
twenty eight profiles. So no Harley Smith Shields and no
Brad Morcos.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Six ten, twelve fourteen Stick with Me sixteen eighteen.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Twelve backs, sixteen forwards.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Twenty two, twenty four, twenty.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Six, Riving Few counting.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Yeah, well that's ninth. That's the list they put up
on the ninth and Morcos's name isn't on there, so
maybe he was going to be and didn't get in there.
Harley Smith Shields as the one I'm a little bit
more intrigued about.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Yeah, I think Harley had probably found himself down the
pecking order a little bit, given that he he had
that knee knee injury, and I don't think he really
looked the same after it. There was talk that he
was going to be going to Parramatta last season that
didn't eventuate, and.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
That game after he came back with a knee injury,
and if I'm thinking of the right game, and it
may have even men you that said it that he
just didn't look confident out there.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
He just didn't seem to be moving freely. But it
didn't seem to be a knee that was hampering him.
It seemed to be a bit of a hip growing issue.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, it just didn't look right. Yeah, anyway, maybe it
may be a relocational doing the world a good anyway.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
So the Raiders two roster spots YEP so we agree
that there are twenty eight players.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
There are twenty eight, Yeah, regardless of who may or
may not have been there in the first place.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing them maybe sign another five
eight option if someone's out there. I think the forwards,
I think they look okay. If an edge forward became available,
you know who would have been really good. Scott Sorenson
from the Penrith Panthers. Do you know where he spent
a season or two about five years ago?
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Was it in the Raiders' lower grades? By any sense?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
It was in the Raiders' top thirty squad?
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Okay, did he actually play for them?
Speaker 3 (11:44):
He played, I think it was two games. It was
about twenty seventeen, and then he went before we were
calling games then surely yeah. Then he went to Yeah,
I think it was the year before. So then he
went to Cronulla. Then he ended up at the Penrith
Panthers and he did already won himself three comps. Backrower
would have been handy. It could be handy sack anyway,
These are my thoughts. But yeah, I wouldn't I think
(12:04):
with those two roster spots, I think we've got enough
outside backs. Despite the fact, we've just lost two centers,
or they've lost two centers, I should say the I
think that another option in the halves would be great,
and I think a certainly an edge back rower would
come in very handy.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Ethan Strange will get I think the first crack at
the six I think.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
To be Ko Weeks.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Do you reckon it'd be Weeks there or do you
reckon Weeks? Now that there's John my theory, Okay, yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Sure, Xavier Savage will start the season at fullback. Ko
Weeks will start the season at five eight. If it
starts to go a little bit pear shaped, I think
Ethan Strange will then come into the halves in five eight,
and either Ko Weeks or Xavier Savage will go out
of the town.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
I think they've got an embarrassment of riches in the backs.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
They've got options, So Simisasagi might get a chance. He
could be with a with a big off season, big preseason,
he could be the smoky that could steal that five
eight position. But I think at the moment, I think
it'll be Savage at full back, and which is interesting
given Savage barely played last year, but I think that's
where they'll I think that's where Ricky's head would be
(13:07):
for now.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I really want to see Ethan Strange get a crack
because geez, how many times have we heard the Raiders
say in pre season press conference and so on, We've
got a lot of depth in this club. We've got
so many kids who are coming through, and so many
of those kids don't make it through. I want to
say a few or them start to make it through.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
We're going to get an opportunity now. No Jack Whiton,
no Jared Croker.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
The Super Serious Sports Show.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Still plenty to get through on this edition of The
Super Serious Sports Show. And not yet. Okay, you can't
do that yet. Tried, No, not going to do that yet.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
I gave it a crack. George Costanza, I'm hoping we can.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
We talked one.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
We're going to talk there for one last week.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yeah, we were going to talk get one last week.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Can do it softer than top we'd have to do
soft and the topen and before the show ends.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Up, see the season has finished for Formula one.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
A stapen one by a doesn't matter if you win
by an inch or a mile. I'll tell you what
he won by a mile. In his case, forget, it's
not how you start, it's how you finish. It's how
you start, it's how you go, you how you get
the fastest lap, how you win the race.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Nineteen wins, wasn't it nineteen?
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Yeah? I think there was three races he didn't win.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
That's that's insane.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Did you did you watch the Vegas Grand Prix?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
I did.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
I enjoyed it more than I have enjoyed a Grand
Prix in a long time. And that is despite the
many flaws and faults with the race and with the
meeting that was.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
With the manholes.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
I mean, everyone who knows anything about high speed car racing,
especially ground effect cars, knows that you've got a weld
shut the manhole covers. If you're on a street circuit,
you can't just leave them there and say, oh no,
they weigh sixty five kilos. They'll be okay, because suddenly
(14:48):
someone will go over the top of one and what
do you know, it'll rip the bottom out of their car.
It was ridiculous that you got to.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
You see in action movies, you like car chases where
someone goes over and the man.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
It sort of jumps up. Yeah, it pops up. Yeah,
and that's with not with Formula one vacuum force under
the car. That was his How do you get a
ten point a ten place penalty on the grid for
what is quite literally a track failure that is no
fault of your own which rips three quarters of your
car apart and then your mechanics managed to somehow get
(15:18):
the car back together so you can qualify at the
front of the grid, and that get told no, You've
still going to start in the middle. That is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
It was certainly questionable. But yeah, max for Stappen one,
he's one. I think he's second championship in a row. No,
it's more than that. What am I thinking of?
Speaker 2 (15:33):
He's one too many?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
He's one, he's one plane, he's one too many, he's
one plenty. We went through the Lewis Hamilton era and
the max for Stappen era. Is there an Oscar Piastre
era coming? Well from all the young guys.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
I saw this on I think it was Twitter this
morning that he performed the best of all the rookies,
pulled in ninety seven points or something for the season,
which is good. My question is, what are the team
tactics become because he's still the number two drive the team.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Make him number one. You know when he won me
over when when he rocked up in the Australian Cricket Jersey.
Do you see that?
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yeah, that'll do it.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Yeah, he turned up turned out to a practice or
something wearing that just across closer to home. The V
eight Supercars also wrapped up over the weekend after the
racing Adelaide, with Brodie Costecki winning his first ever title
and became the first Australian Chris Coleman to win our
V eight Supercar championships since twenty seventeen?
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Has it been KeyWe dominated for that Lon.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Shane van Gisbergen two in a row, who I think
ended up coming second and he's gone now he's off
to the Nascars. Yeah, he's off to Nascars. And speaking
of the States, Scotty McLoughlin won the three before that,
so it's the yeah. Twenty seventeen. Jamie win Cup was
the last Australian to win the V eight Supercars. That
was in twenty seventeen, So well done to Brodie Castecki.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
And a relatively speaking lower profile name Costecki.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Yea, he is for now. He's only a young guy.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
You know.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Ways you know why I haven't heard of him from Perth?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Well that always helps, you know. It's a long way
to Perth, a long way away. It is, been there
a couple of times recent times. It's a long, long
long way. Takes forever to get back from there too.
Are you going to be interested in the US racing
now with a couple of more, with a couple of
ass's taking their places in NASCAR races, et cetera.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Yeah, I'll take a bit more interest in it, I think,
especially if they do more street races in NASCAR. They
just look really cool. It looks really cool getting around
the streets. That that one that Van Gisbergen won in Chicago,
just the footage of that. Just go and watch the
highlights package of it for like five minutes. It's really cool.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
I like seeing the NASCAR on circuits where they have
to actually do something other than turn left.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yeah, yeah, I think that's why I liked it. Yeah
it was. It was good, but hey, Days of Thunder
it's one of my favorite movies ever. There's a lot
of Robin in a lot of Robin in in NASCAR
and Robinson is racing.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
A couple of weeks ago, you were explolling the virtues
of this new in season tournament in the NBA AJ
I've read a couple of negative comments about it. People say, Oh,
we don't need it, it's nothing extra, and you're making
teams look nothing like the teams that we support, etc.
I'm still kind of enjoying it. I won't say I'm
completely sucked in by it, but certainly when I see it,
(18:20):
I do watch it.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Now, well, we're still in the period of time where
the games have double meeting, so it still counts towards
the regular season. We're not at the knockout stage yet,
but we are very close. And when we're in the
knockout stage, I think that's when it gets really exciting
because it's one and done basketball.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
We've seen in and you've seen it for one hundred
and other years, the FA Cup knockout in soccer. It
really does have something extra to it, and it'll bring
that element to basketball.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
It will. And yeah, because most basketball knockout scenarios they
go down a series like baseball, but quite a few
of the top sides of qualified for the knockout stage,
the Lakers, unfortunately, they've got through. The Phoenix Suns are through,
the Celtics are through, the Bucks are through. There hasn't
really been a huge, i guess, surprise packet yet, other
(19:08):
than the fact that the Denver Nuggets, who are the
NBA champions and still going well in the regular season
this year, they've actually misqualification for the knockout stage. So
New Orleans and the Houston Rockets both got through in
that division.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
How are the Dallas Mavericks going.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
The Dallas Mavericks have been eliminated.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Okay, do you know why I'm asking about the Dallas.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Mavericks Because Mark Cuban sold well.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
He's put him up for sale or he's agreed to
a sale. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
See how much money he's made of it.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Three and a half billion American dollars selling.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah, but will still be in charge of basketball operations.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Smart man.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
He's a smart man.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
And you see him if you ever up late at night. Occasionally,
Shark Tank, the American version of Shark Tank, pops up
on one of the TV channels. Don't ask me which one.
He's one of the ones on that. Yeah, he's one
of the Sharks yeah, so he's not dumb. Oh yeah,
he's a switch done guy. Dallas are actually they're going
better than people expected this season. I know they've misqualification
(20:05):
for the for the in season tournament, but in terms
of the overall season, they're actually going really well with
Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic in their back court and
two Ossies in the team too, by the way, Josh
Green and Dante exam. So if you if you're an
Aussie looking for a team to go for, maybe the
Mavericks could be that team. Will someone buy them and
move them to Vegas?
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Now, no Vegas. Will they'll have a team when they're
going to expand to two more teams and I can
tell you now spoiler alert, it'll be Las Vegas and Seattle.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
Okay, do you know how much Mark Cuban paid for the.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Dallas Maverick I read this earlier today to eighty five millions.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
In the year two thousand.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
So what did he sell them for or what is
he selling them?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Three point five billion Americans? So yeah, he's making three
point one billion and change and still in charge of operation.
That's that's not bad. That's not bad.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Now, speaking of basketball, a little bit closer to home.
I had a look at the schedule yesterday just seeing
if I get to a Perth Wildcats game. There's a
guy playing for them, a centa seven foot one Alexa
playing in the NBL this season has become the new
favorite to be the number one pick in the NBA
draft for twenty twenty four.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
See that's a great advertisement for Australian basketball.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Isn't that? Just So it's not these rookies that are
coming out So he's a Frenchman. So these rookies that
are coming out here, or not even rookies yet, we're
not getting the leftovers. We're getting the absolute stars. I
just found that really exciting. I read that the other
day that he's, yeah, he's going to be the number
one pick, So you could potentially go to an NBL game.
So I was looking to see closest to home, probably
(21:38):
the Illaw Hawks or the Sydney Kings. I was looking
to see when the Wildcats were comeing town so I
can go and get a look at this guy. But
unfortunately scheduling doesn't work out for me just yet. But
I might move things around anyway.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Take a few days off.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah, well Christmas period coming up. We've got a break
from a super seriousports show coming up too. Maybe I'll
go and do it in there somewhere before.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
We move on to anything else. When we were talking
about caketball, then.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
I forgot, aw we're doing softer than Tottenham.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Before we talk about anything else. Something that I did
mean to mention while we were talking about basketball and
Titenamaseft suddenly remembers that's not basketball. Every year Forms magazine
publishes a list of the world's fifty most valuable sports teams.
Now there will the new list coming out in January
for twenty twenty four, so we can only go off
the twenty twenty three version of the list. At the moment.
(22:22):
The Dallas Mavericks didn't make it.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
To the top fifty most valuable sports teams in the world.
So in the world, in the world, how high are
the Golden State Warriors.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
The Golden State Warriors are number three.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Yeah, I was gonna say, because they're they're the biggest
of Thank Steph Curry for.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
That seven billion. This was in January. Seven billion was
what they valued the Golden State Warriors out the New
York Gangau is at seven point one billion of the Dallas
Cowboys at nine billion dollars. How Boys the number one?
Who's four and five? New England Patriots tied with the
Golden State Warriors. I'll make a bold prediction here. The
New England Patriots will plummet in value after a small season.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
They might have it. They might have They're not going
to get the number one pick because Carolina aren't going
to win another game, but they might get the number
two pick. I just quickly before we move on to Tottenham.
Frank Reich in the NFL became the first coast in
history to get sacked mid season and consecutive seasons. Was
the Colts coach last year, got sacked ACKed. I had
been the coach there for five years. Became the new
(23:20):
Carolina Panthers coach this year and he's already been sacked.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
La Rams a number five. By the way, it's six
point nine games. Yeah, I'm trying to find there are three?
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Are they known for? If you go to a Rams game,
there's more of support for the other team than there is.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Yeah, but they're in Los Angeles. Raal Madrid is at
number eleven six six point oh seven, the most expensive
soccer team the most expensive Premier League team is Manchester
United at six billion, although again.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
The Alaura Hawks on the list.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
No, they're not to make the list. Last year and
this was the point to the list in January, you
had to be three point five billion dollars just to
make the list, to make number fifty, and with inflation
this year it'll probably be three point nine billion. So
even selling for three point five means that the the
Dallas Mavericks probably won't make a list. And I know
(24:03):
you're desperate to do it. I know you're desperate to
do it.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Softer than Tottenham.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Okay, having said that, having said that, I am I've
got soft spot for Tottenham, is it? And that was
no pun intended?
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Gee?
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Thanks, but because Andre's the coach. Yeah, but they've lost
three in a row.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
They have lost three in a row after starting the
season with eight wins and two losses. They've then lost
three in a row and arguably, you know how I
know that we're almost back into typical Tottenham softness. I
was away on the weekend, I got late, got back
late on Sunday, went to bed, woke up and it
was about forty minutes gone in the Spurs Easton Villa game.
(24:48):
Spurs were up one nil, and I thought I should
get onto sports bed or the tab right now and
put fifty bucks on Spurs losing to one. I didn't,
but I should have because but that's where my that's
where my head that now, and I don't know whether
full Tottenham softness has returned yet. The big test, though,
is this weekend. Who are they playing this week? It
is Manchester City, It's the last game of the round.
(25:09):
It's three thirty Australian Eastern time, Monday morning.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Now, sorry, I'm just trying to try to bring this up.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
It's unusual.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
I don't normally have a screen in front of you,
but a screen from you.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
You've actually got a computer that works.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
This is this is fun.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Someone's been spending money here.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Yeah, good lord, Okay, yeah, I'm just seeing who they've
lost to. Oh well, my theory is about to go
because I was like, they've only lost to good teams
and then I notice the eleventh of November Chris Coleman.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Yeah they lost the Wolves.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Now, yeah, who did the Wolves play this week? Oh?
Speaker 2 (25:43):
The Wolves played played Fulham this week and what was
the score. The score was three two to.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Fulham, so therefore.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Don't you're not going to get away with it.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
The Wolves beat Tottenham, Fullham beat the Wolves, clearly, full
of them are better.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Let's see, I'm got a litle at the ladder. Let's see.
Oh look my screen and he shows the top eleven.
I'll have to scroll down twelve or thirteen.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Not how you start, how you finished. Chris Coleman and
Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
They're not done. It started well, it's only a quarter
all the way through the season. Then it's still on
the top.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
You did say they would fall away before Christmas.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
I did say what happened, but cheese to be nice
if they could beat Manchester City? But will I be
putting money on it nowhere in the world and you
can hold me to that. I'll catch up with the
next week.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
A ja, yeah, I kind of hope Tottenhall win that
you hope.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
I have everyone except man City fans and there's only
three at the industragious. That doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
You have a good weekend.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
