Another day, another Regretcation disaster story.

All week we’re celebrating the trips that went so wrong they became iconic.
Each morning, one “holiday from hell” wins $500, and on Friday one of those heroic disasters scores a $10,000 dream getaway, thanks to RACV Travel & Experiences.

It’s pure chaos, pure comedy, and pure catharsis.
If you’ve ever had a trip implode in spectacular fashion… this is your moment.

Oh my god, Like, what's that is?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
It, Tom Hanks, Yes, the terminal just lives there. We
should do. It's a time before phones, because stuff like
this used to happen where then wasn't there. When we
finally arrived late at night, all we had was her
street name, which turned out to be four miles long
a freeway. After driving up and down aimlessly, we gave

(01:46):
up and went into a dodgy hotel where the bathroom
door hung off one and the staff bang on our
door all night, depending demanding payment we couldn't make until
the bank opened in the morning. My boyfriend went for
cash when I was stuck behind reception with the luggage.
I was like held hostage there as a deposit.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
That's a human deposit.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
We spent the day knocking about fifty doors along her
street until someone finally recognized the name and pointed us
down the road to the right house. Once we found her,
she cooked every meal for us, all very spicy curries,
and because I can't handle spice while you're Australian, I
basically livedoti in bananas. Then I developed a tooth absence,

(02:30):
and a cousin the pharmacist slipped me antibiotic so strong
I fainted in the heat.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
No, I would never go on a holiday again. Oh
my god, we must do it was a time before
mobile phones. We've got Scott now, Scott, welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Hi, how are you?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I'm good Scott, so tell us his story mate, what
happened to you?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Well? I saved up everything I could to for a
business class trip to London and Italy. I get to London,
having a great time for.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
The first few days, and then walked out of a
pub one night and I had my phone stolen by
a group of youths.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Oh unlocked. They got into my cards, my.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Crypto sold off about fifty k worth of crypto and
transported to a card fifty thousand. It took me, of course,
be in the middle of the night. I couldn't do anything.
I couldn't get an access anything. The next day I
bought another phone and had trouble getting on so getting
on to everything point because of two fa and twofa

(03:32):
was linked to my card.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
This is the female, because everything lives on our phones. Yes,
time with home card. This is nightmare.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
It got worse when they arrived in Italy ten thirty
at night in Verona, only to find the baggage carrousel
stopped without my.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Bags coming out.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Oh you're kidding.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
So I have three days in Italy with no cards,
no cash, no clothes. What did you do?

Speaker 4 (03:56):
I stayed in the hotel and contacted a friend who
TRANSFERREDY let the hotel know his credit cards details.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
I could eat and drink while I was while I
was in Italy. Wow, oh God, couldn't wait to get home.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Yeah, I can't help. But thinking about that, you're losing
fifty thousand dollars. What happened then? Could you recover it?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Or no?

Speaker 4 (04:19):
That the hard look cut a long story short Visa,
because I had the physical card and use that to
buy the phone the next day, Visa said, no, you can't.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
You can't claim any of the transactions. Oh the whole
what was gone?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
That's just that's all I have to deal with it.
That's so much money to lose.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I'm sorry you went through.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, I already sort to hear that. Mate, that is
just horrendous. The least we can do is give you
five hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Mate, you're a legend.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Wish I could give you the forty nine thousand and
find more, but don't have it to start and have
it to hand to start. Every month, we'll call you
back and just give you a bit more and a
bit more. In the next couple of years. We'll get
it down there. We're getting through this, Scott, and listen,
I really hope that you win the holiday on Friday
and you're going back to London that pub. No, no,
you're only five hundred dollars, and then you could be

(05:11):
winning a ten thousand dollars holiday this Friday on the show. Scott,
an incredible story. I'm glad you can kind of laugh
about it or not. I have to. I've got no choice,
all right, Scott, good on you. Thank you very much
for calling in.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Thanks guys.
