Okay, so, why were you in your local paper? Barbara? Hi,
Hello Barbara, welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
So why were you in your local paper?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
So mine hearted Rekoll was called steamed up about a baby.
When I had my first son, it was about a
twenty nine and a half hour labor and I spent
quite a long time in a hot shower in the hospital,
the steam on my back that had actually set off
the alarms and caused an evacuation.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
You're kidding.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
No, And the best part was my dad was a
volunteer firefighter and it was his station that turned up
and burst into my room.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Hey, Barbara, Oh it's you. So you made it into
the local Times. What the weerribe Times.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yeah, the Weary Times.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Amazing photo as well.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
No, actually in the birthing section. I did get with
the announcements, I did get a photo, so technically I
got it twice for the same birth.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
BARBERA great story. Thank you very much for sharing with us.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
No, thank you, Tony, Good morning, good morning guys. Not
to talk to you again, Tony.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Tony. Tony was a winner a while ago on the
show sing for the serenade for the upgrade the Singing Butcher.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I need enough.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
This is that voice.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
And my car, my.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Home living room, Tony the Singing Butcher. Lovely to talk
to you again. So why were you in the paper singing.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Good morning guys, I wants to talk to you again. Yes,
and I was back in twenty ten when my media
name at the Singing Butchers started to take off. So
I was off to Italy through some master classes in
Sicily and Rome, and the heading was it's time job
for operatunity of a lifetime genius.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Local newspaper headlight. That's so good, that's great.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
So were you going to Italy as a butcher as
an opera singer?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Confused?

Speaker 4 (02:15):
If I would to a butcher, I wouldn't probably come back,
but anyway, No, I was for the opera. Yeah, so
I was doing master classes in Sicily and Rome.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Wow, I didn't know you'd had lessons. I just thought
you could sing like that.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Yes, well, yeah, that was in the heyday, so yeah,
basically I was then with the company for a little
while that was short lived, and then yeah, just continued.
Myself had a maestroe as well at the time.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
So yeah, do you know what, they should hire you
to sing at the Grand Final this year. I'd enjoyed that.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Well, Christian, you always asked the great questions. Gilan McLaughlin
and his lovely wife is to shop at our butcher's.
And I asked him one day because he asked me
how I'm going with the AFL. I said, what, you're
doing a great job, but you get work flock meatloafs
God bless him, resty soul. But I said, you can
give me one hundred thousand dollars over six years and

(03:10):
I'll blasting him to your part, and.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Here's your jobs for the Grand Finals every year we
take the singing.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Butcher Well, yeah, that was my offering to him, but
he didn't there to be so anyway, Well.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
They've got a new guy coming at the end of
the season. Maybe you should try and picture to him.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Yeah, Andrew, Yeah, what I should maybe have a chat
with mister Dylan.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah, Tony, lovely speech, you mate, Take care all right,
Let's go to Sam now, Good morning.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
Sam, Good morning Sam.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Why were you in your local paper?

Speaker 5 (03:45):
I was in my local paper back in twoy seventeen.
I was actually having a stroke while driving my son
to daycare.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Wow, what will happened? Do you have to pull over?

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Or yeah?

Speaker 5 (03:58):
I pulled over because I thought I was just feeling
unwealth so I thought i'd been my boss at the
time to say that I wouldn't be coming in. And
by that time I had lost the use of my
right arm.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
And couldn't get into my phone.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
Eventually I did and got in contact with her. I
lost my speech as well, so I couldn't tell her
or she couldn't understand me.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
And at that time, there was a gentleman walking.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
Past, and he must have known something was wrong.

Speaker 7 (04:30):
And he helped my boss and himself find the location
to organize an ambulance.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
What an incredible story. That must have been terrifying for you.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
It was, and I had my three and a half
year old in the back seat, so it was rather
scary at the time.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Is amazing the kindness of a stranger to occurred to
come to your aid there as well.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
Sam Oh, definitely definitely, and the that he was on
his morning walk.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
He had my phone then up to the end of
the street because he didn't know what the street name
was either, and come back and stayed with me until
the ambulance arrived.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
What a lovely guy. I loved those stories when you
know someone just comes at the right time, it's almost
like it was meant to be.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Yeah, I just hadn't been able to find him. I'd
done the local radio station and the local newspaper to
try and locate him, and I just put it down
to it like everyone just said that it was just
my guardian angel at that time.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
He was there at the right time.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
And yeah, didn't want to be notified to, you know,
to have the thing because it was just amazing.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
So when was this then?

Speaker 6 (05:40):
Back in or was actually probably eight years ago on
the tenth of June.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
And whereabouts were you? I was in Packingham and where
exactly Impacingham because you never know, now, you never know
who might be listening. He might be listening or someone
who knows that.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Guy, Yeah he was.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
We were in the state, So June about eight years ago.
What time of the day is it? Early in the morning,
take it to day care?

Speaker 7 (06:06):
It was about seven thirty, seven o'clock seven thirty.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Unbelievable story, isn't it? And how are you now?

Speaker 5 (06:14):
I've got a full bell of health. The neurologist discharged
me a few years ago.

Speaker 6 (06:21):
He did say, if I hadn't had a court in time,
I would have been at a nursing home.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
So it's sad.

Speaker 7 (06:27):
I thank my lucky stars for that guardian angel of mine.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Only she got goosebumps. Listen to this. I want to
try and find him. So, Sam, do you mind if
we picked this up to see if we can find him?
Would you like that or not you feel like you've
moved on.

Speaker 6 (06:40):
I'd love to find him and say thank you.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
Even my family and friends would love to be able
to thank him and say thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
How old your boy now? So what three at the time,
eight years ago? What is he eleven? Twelve?

Speaker 7 (06:51):
Well, he's probably it was actually.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Thirteen, so turning fourteen. And my eldest was is now
toward turning twenty one. He was in year seven year
eight at the time as well, So I had two
very young boys that I had to you know, get
well for as well.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Incredible though that when you said that if it hadn't
been for the kindness of the stranger, that you know,
you would have been in a nursing home. It just
a very very different life for you.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
It would have been a very different life. So I
wouldn't have been able to talk and probably even walk.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Wow, do you think about it a lot? Sort of
him saving it?

Speaker 7 (07:28):
I do often think about it, especially around the anniversary time.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, this has coming up in a couple of days time,
isn't it. Did you say eighth of June, tenth of June,
tenth of June, So that's not like in a week's time?
Is that next week? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Yeah, this weekend? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah, yeah, all.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Right, So Sam, if you'd so you're happy for us
to try and sort of see if we can locate him,
see if we can find him.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
Oh, that would be fantastic. I'd love to take you.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
So I hope you don't mind then, and ask quite
the question. So it was the tenth of June. Yes,
and it was eight years ago, so this would be
two thousand and fifteen yew fifteen, at about seven thirty
in the morning in Packingham. Yes, And what was the
name of the area again?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Hen to estate.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
And so do you even know his name?

Speaker 5 (08:17):
No?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
I don't have been in what was going on with
you that you wouldn't have been to remember his name
or anything.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
He I don't even think he gave my boss at
the time his name either, so yeah, he.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Was just was he a local person so he must
have been nearby if he was going for a walk
that time of.

Speaker 7 (08:35):
The morning, Yes, definitely.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Did he have a dog or anything, No, he.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
Was just walking on his own.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Old guy. What kind of age would you put them?

Speaker 7 (08:46):
They probably would have been in his sixties possibly at
the time.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
I feel like we're playing guests who right now and
I'm ticking off. Did he have a beret?

Speaker 5 (08:55):
He didn't, but I do remember he did have a beard.
That's as much as I can really remember at the time.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
So all right, Sam, we'll see what we can do.
But honestly, thank you so much. It'd kind of been
easy to call us up today and share that it's
an amazing story, but I must imagine it's all quite
a scary one too to share again as well, Sam, it.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
Is good, although it's good to actually talk about as well.
So it's good. It's a good recovery process as well
to try and yeah, deal with with the fear at
the time.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yeah, well, I'm in all your courage. Kind of an
easy thing to call us today and go back through that,
So thank you very much for trusting us with it.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Sam, no, thank you for letting me put it out
there again.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
It's an incredible story. I love that it really was
a guardian angel, all right, So a sixty ish your
old man it is with a bit.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
That's all I can remember, all right.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
But you never know, you never know. I hope we
can find this guardian angel, all right, Sam, for now,
thank you very much, take care, I have a good.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
Day you too, Thank you.
