Speaker 1 (00:00):
Bag fir fry okay ry rough game.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Well, it was a week of crunch, rivalries and divisional
deciding games across Week eleven of the National Football League.
It's all wrapped up. Maybe five or six hours ago,
we saw Monday Night football as Houston steamroll the hapless
and woeful Dallas Cowboys. My name is JJ. Thanks for
(00:40):
joining me. Mostly NFL, but a little bit of NBA
as well. We're going to capture both in the pod.
Starting with the NFL again, we saw a kicker, a
field goal kicker stare down a walk off game winner,
(01:01):
only for said kick till again be blocked at the line.
Caleb Williams, Chicago rookie number one pick. He made three
consecutive lasers to drive his Bears to what looked to
be an unlikely home win against the Packers, and as
(01:24):
Cairo Santos stood ready to deliver, to deliver victory, this
is what happened. Oh my goodness, the Packers bucking and
they're gonna win twenty to nineteen. Kevin and Tom Brady
(01:50):
on the call for Fox twenty nineteen. The Packers win it.
It was a forty six yard attempt blocked at the line.
We've seen it twice in two weeks. Unbelievable. It was
a good game of football. The Packers keep finding themselves
on the right side of these type of games. What
(02:11):
about these Aaron Rodgers has now got He possesses a
worse winning percentage than Zack Wilson and Sam Darnald. Well,
we let that sink in. Aaron Rodgers has a worse
winning percentage than Zack Wilson, who was laughed out of town.
(02:33):
You wouldn't even know where he's a backup at the
moment because I don't. And Sam Donald, who we famously
recall the audio of him saying he was seeing ghosts, Well,
I'll tell you what he's seeing, championships hats and T
shirts in his dreams. At the moment, it has been unbelievably,
(02:56):
certainly unthinkably bad in New York. The Big Apple has
to be on fire. Thank god. The Knicks look like
they're a good team. And to quote my man Pat McAfee,
the New Jersey Jets stink, They stink. He's another percentage
(03:21):
for you. The New Jersey Jets, now halfway through the
season a bit more than have a three percent chance
to make the playoffs. A three percent chance. They quite
Aaron Rodgers, They drafted bres Hall and Garrett Wilson. They
go and make a big splash move for DeVante Adams,
(03:43):
and they are cooked. And their future is probably as
bad as anyone's in the NFL, because Rogers is perhaps
six games from retirement. Maybe he goes one more year.
But things are not things are grim in the Big Apple.
(04:07):
Things aren't grim if you're a Pittsburgh Steeler. They are
just good. They are just good. You don't need to
be a genius to realize that now, considering they're eight
and two. But again they found a way to win
when A they were the underdog. B they didn't get
much of anything from the offense. Again, they won a
(04:28):
game with without scoring a touchdown, whilst the opposition scored
a couple. Russell Wilson made a couple of total bonehead players.
The interception he threw in the end zone was complete
out of madness. But six field goals gets it done.
Six field goals. Great defense, Try and limit the mistakes
(04:51):
the offense makes. Aka Russell Wilson. They've got an epic defense. TJ.
Watt leads the way. Don't talk to me about TJ.
Watt been the defensive Player of the Year because we're
on him last year when he should have won it
and he was rubbed. But the coach man, the coach
is a superstar, and he's coaching as good as he
(05:12):
airs that as he ever has in his life. Russell
Wilson was discarded in Denver, given a whole boatload of
cash to go away. He is four and oh as
the starter in Pittsburgh, four and oh, unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
You're within indiffe.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Elsewhere around the NFL. Minnesota got the job done twenty
three thirteen against Tennessee. The Vikings are eight and two
New England. They wanted to bring the pressure to Matthew
Stafford will He said, bring it, because I'll make you pay.
Against the Blitz, Stafford went twelve of seventeen for two
hundred and eighteen yards and three touchdowns. I'm not sure
(05:58):
that would have happened on Bill Belichick's watch back in
the day, defensive guru. How about the Lions. Of course,
we expected them to hammer Jacksonville, but they left at
home the handhammer, the old school hammer, and they brought
along the nail gun. Fifty two to six. James and
Williams went four catches for one twenty four in a score.
(06:21):
Amon Ra Saint Brown had eleven catches, one sixty one
and two scores. Montgomery scored twice on the ground. Gibbs
scored on the ground. Jared Goff again. This offense scored
more touchdowns than the quarterback had incomplete passes twenty four
of twenty nine through the air four hundred and twelve
(06:41):
yards four scores, barely raised the sweat. Detroit are nine
to one. I said a few weeks ago they were
the best team in football, and I stand by it. Yes,
Aiden Hutchinson is a big loss and will be felt
badly at some st age, but this team is not
(07:04):
built to be a defensive juggernaut. They are built to
be an offensive onslaught. They are a freight train on offense.
They'll give it to you any kind of way you
want it. They've got the deep threat with Jamison Williams.
They've got the genuine number one receiver with amon Ra
(07:24):
Saint Brown. They've got two running backs who are both beasts.
They've got the uber accurate quarterback, the confident quarterback. They've
got tight ends. They've got a dominant a truly dominant
offensive line. Pennae sul is a machine. They are the
real deal. And I'm all in. I'm all in as
(07:47):
my Bengals, and we'll get to them continue to fall.
I'm all in on the Lions Miami. They snuck past
lost Vegas. Las Vegas take the tea off, although Vegas
are a little lost thirty four to nineteen. But this
game was not that interesting except for the performance from
(08:07):
rookie tight end Brock Bowers. I was listening to a
podcast in the offseason. In the preseason, they talked about
how Bowers would be this type of beast, and he is.
He broke an NFL record for most catches in a
game by a rookie tight end. He had one hundred
and twenty four yards a touchdown on thirteen catches. Thirteen
(08:29):
catches by rookie tight end, the most ever in a
single game. Denver, they hammered Atlanta thirty eight to six.
They eclipsed their five and a half win total for
the season. I know that because I was on that
bo Nicks went big twenty eight to thirty three, three
h seven and four touchdowns and he must now throw
(08:51):
himself into the offensive Rookie of the Year conversation. He's
not in front of Jaden Daniels. In fact, he's got
some ground to make up, but he is coming at
the right time of year. What about Geno Smith and
the Seahawks and what a Geno performance it was. The
(09:13):
Seahawks had coughed and spluttered in Santa Clara in California
against the Niners the NFC West Divisional Showdown. He made
some blunders, He done some things right, he done some
things wrong. But when the game was on the line,
our man, Gino, he didn't drop back and throw a
(09:37):
bomb up to DK Metcalf. He said, I'm gonna take this.
I'm gonna put the ball in my hands and go
get us a win.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Hunder twenty swift or throw swift tuxa tuxdown Santa.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
What time seconds?
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Geno Smith again, he touched the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
On his PA and Seattle's got the lead. Indeed, I'll
finish a sentence for you. Twenty to seventeen would be
your final. And Gino with the scramble, He's one of
those dudes. He's a little more athletic than you think.
And it came in a very, very handy, excuse me
on that occasion. The big boy clash of the weekend
(10:21):
was Kansas City in Buffalo, mahomes for a pick on
the second play of the game. James Cook scored a
couple of touchdowns in the first half, and there were
some serious plays made all over high Mark Stadium in
Orchard Park, Western New York. Both quarterbacks made some remarkable players.
(10:42):
Of course they did, because that's what they do. But
no one made a bigger play than this on fourth down,
Superman super Josh, thanks Lap now taking off, Gonna run
for any gun and there it goes and second time.
The player of the year in the NFL, says Jim Nanson,
(11:12):
Who are we? Who are we to challenge that? Because
he is a beast, he is a machine. Fourth down,
almost all the marbles on the table, Josh Allen said,
I ain't throwing the ball to anyone, I ain't handing
the ball off to anyone. Ain't trusting anyone else. I'm
(11:35):
tucking it. I'm running twenty six yards later, touchdown. Game over.
Chiefs now have a loss and the Bills have a big,
big win. My Bengals got some Sunday night football action
against the LA Chargers. I believe this game was flexed
into Sunday night football, and the first half was ugly
(11:56):
for a Bengals fan, but it wasn't overly competitive. Bengals
offense couldn't get going, the defense was poor, but the
second half was explosive. Herbert was totally sensational in the
first half and then couldn't couldn't, couldn't hit water falling
from a boat in the second half. From a Bengals
(12:20):
point of view, they were down twenty four to six
at halftime, then twenty seven to six early in the
third quarter, but Burrow, Chase, and t Higgins went nuts.
Borrow threw for two hundred and fifty yards and three
touchdowns in the second half. Higgins ended the game with
one hundred and forty eight yards and a touchdown in
(12:42):
the game, and Jamar Chase had seventy two yards and
two touchdowns. But whatever's happening happening in Cincinnati, I've got
no idea what's going on there? They are a complete
and not a mess. Jamar Chase is number one in
(13:02):
the NFL for catches, for yards and for touchdowns. After
no offseason at all, he turned up for practice on
the Wednesday, before the first game of the season. Borrow's
number one for pass yards and pass touchdowns, despite the
fact it seems like he can barely feel his wrist.
(13:23):
It is totally and utterly unacceptable what he's going on
in Cincinnati. Borrow is putting up some historic numbers, historical numbers,
and the Bengals keep losing in losses. This year, Borrow
(13:43):
is one hundred and sixty three from two to eighty five,
passing at sixty seven percent. He's thrown for two one
hundred and fifty six passing yards and has thrown eighteen
touchdowns two picks. He's basically been perfect. It is. It
is completely natterly mind blowing what is going on in Cincinnati.
(14:10):
Totally mind blowing what is going on in Cincinnati. And
I'll give you this one before we move along from
Joe Burrow. There have only been two instances in NFL
history where a quarterback has had thirty plus completions, more
than three hundred plus pass yards, four or more touchdown passes,
(14:34):
multiple forty yard touchdown passes, and one or zero interceptions
and still lost the game. Only twice. Ever, both of
those occasions that player has been Joe Burrow in Week
five against the Ravens and last week against the Ravens.
(14:58):
It is completely particularly for a Bengals fan, it is
just it sends you sideways trying to work out what's
going on in Cincinnati and I'm dead sat petrify. Jamar
Chase says, I'm out, I'm done. I ain't playing here
next year. I'll sit the year out and I'll get
a gigantic contract elsewhere because he deserves it. I understand
(15:19):
they're paying Joe Burrow fifty something mill. He's worth that,
and Jamar Chase is worth that too. Well, he's worth
whatever he gets, whatever the highest paid receiver gets. Chuck
ten percent on it. Monday Night Football, Houston thirty four,
Dallas ten. Dallas had the chance to keep this competitive,
(15:39):
but in the end it was all Joe Mixon. He
had a hat trick of touchdowns, twenty two touches in total,
one hundred and forty eight scrimming yards and three scores.
Cooper Rush passed the ball fifty five times. That's a
bad recipe for Dallas. There three and seven on the season. Staggeringly,
there's zip and five at home. Have not won a
(15:59):
ball game at home this year. I'm going to Dallas
in a few weeks to see Cincinnati at Dallas. About
two months ago, those tickets were a decent seat in
the house was one thousand bucks. I haven't looked, but
I'm tipping those ticket prices have fallen through the floor.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
You're within.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
All right, Let's move along just a little bit. There's
some big, big games in the NFL this week. Of course,
we're up to week twelve. The Steelers should get the
job done against the Browns on Thursday Night football. The
totals thirty five and a half. So if you're looking
for points, perhaps pretend this game's not on. The Chief
(16:45):
should bounce back going to Carolina. They're a big favorite there.
If you're looking for some good games, you're going to
be hard pressed this week. There are some real lopsided games,
but some real interesting games. San Francisco at Green Bay
that'll be hup as State Monday morning. Perfect time slot
for those commuting to work or sitting on the couch
(17:07):
not working on a Monday. That's what I'll be doing.
The Eagles Philadelphia eight and two at the Rams at
so far that's Sunday night football. That'll be a good game,
and then Baltimore and the LA Chargers Monday Night football.
So we go back to back at SOFI Stadium, Eagles
at Rams, Ravens at Chargers. A couple of good games there,
(17:30):
but we're gonna have to endure some stinkers are unfortunately
next week, because we've got a heap of games where
it doesn't look like the game will be all that fantastic.
But what we do know about the NFL is it
can throw up absolute doozies from nowhere from left field.
We just watch them.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
You're with Intel. Here we go.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
What's a week, ladies and gents? I'd say boys and girls,
but you need to be over eighteen to have a bet?
Five and zero in week eleven, five wins, zero losses,
thirty three and twenty two in the season. My Simple
Mathematics aka Google tells me that is sixty six percent
on the season. We need to be getting a job
(18:26):
in Vegas. And those plays that got it done Detroit
and Jacksonville plus forty seven and a half will guess
what the line's called? Fifty two points. Thanks for coming.
If you had a told me Jacksonville were going to
score six, I would have been petrified, but thank Evans
for that offensive juggernaut. In Detroit, the Bears covered the
six and a half against Green Bay at Soldier Field.
(18:50):
They probably should have won the game. We didn't care
about the block kick because we were on them six
and a half. Cleveland and New Orleans plus forty four
and a half, I was a bit This was the
one we probably sweat the most, but in the end
they go north of forty four and a half. Derek
car through a couple of big bombs. Jameis Winston did
(19:11):
similar Miami minus six and a half against Vegas. We
got the best of the number. It went out to
seven and a half, but in the end it didn't matter.
So that's four and zero. And finally I was super
keen on this. This was probably my favorite bet for
the week, alongside the Bears plus six and a half
against the Packers, Baltimore and Pittsburgh under forty seven and
(19:32):
a half. Now forty seven and a half is it's
just above an average number. It's not super high, but
it's certainly not a low number. It's not a number
i'd expect for an AFC North showdown. I know the
weather's okay, still in the States. But when you look
at what Pittsburgh and Baltimore were going to serve up,
(19:55):
Pittsburgh were always going to be able to stifle the
running attack from Baltimore. We know the Stealers are anything
but an offensive jugger. Or only thirty four points put
up in that contest. So that's bang bang bang bang
bang five and oho thirty three and twenty two on
the season. He's hoping we can go perfect again in
(20:18):
week twelve. But I tell you, I've had a look
at the lines early in the week, and I'll tell
you what she's going to be difficult. So here are
probably seven or eight I'm sifting through and I'll do
some work on before we settle on the Fab five.
It's the stay tuned across the socials for the official
Fab five at video. Feel free to get involved too.
(20:40):
We're going quite nicely, not that anyone would be aware. Okay,
the Bears plus th and a half points at home
against Minnesota gain team to lean into divisional underdogs at home,
So that's what the Bears are. We're not getting six
and a half lot we got last week against the Packers.
Anything more than a field goal is an attractive number.
(21:03):
So we'll see whether this number moves in favor of
US here and the home underdog. I'm pretty keen on
minus forty five and a half total points Miami in
New England. I watched a fair bit of Miami in
Week eleven. They don't look anything like that explosive passing attack,
that aerial attack that they were last year tour. Tagova
(21:27):
Looa is clearly playing the game less recklessly. They're not
setting up too many deep shots. He's getting the ball
out of his hands a lot quicker, which is giving
Waddle and Hill and others less time to get downfield
for these big splash plays. So under forty five and
a half looks okay. And remembering even though the Patriots
(21:48):
aren't much good, this is a divisional clash the Lions
and Indianapolis over fifty and a half. Anytime the lines
are involved, you've got a chance. And the thing I
love about them, and this is what I was worried
about last week when we took them over against Jacksonville.
They got up big and you thought, okay, they're going
to run the ball. We're going to settle for fear goals.
(22:10):
They're not going to try and put points up in
the book. They just keep trucking. They just keep it rolling,
and they don't care about the old We're not going
to embarrass our opposition. They'll put up forty fifty fifty five.
They don't care. So that looks a good number. Fifty
and a half Indianapolis and Detroit. Vegas plus five and
a half at home against Denver. I know Denver have
(22:33):
got something good going on, but Vegas need to show
something at home getting almost a touchdown. If we see
six and a half, we might get involved there with
Vegas and Denver. That's one where you need to hold
your nose and bet ugly. But it is a divisional
underdog at home. The Packers minus one at home against
(22:56):
San Francisco. Look, McCaffrey's had a couple of games back,
but I'm just not sure the Niners are where they
need to be to be winning anything. They're in a
dogfight to win the division, let alone thinking about home
field and championship games and Super Bowls, and that's where
(23:16):
they expect to be. So the Packers minus one at
home feels okay. Philly and the Rams plus fifty and
a half in La at so fight on Sunday Night football.
That feels a good number. Stafford's got Cooper Cup and
Pokin Nakua to air it out too. We know Karen
(23:36):
Williams can find the end zone. Saquon Barkley does it
for fun. Jalen Hurts his top five in the NFL
for rushing touchdowns as well. Aj Brown ready to explode.
So that feels a good number. The Charges plus two
and a half at home against Baltimore feels a game.
If I could get a three and a half, I
think I'd snap that up and throw that in the
(23:58):
in the fab five. But we'll just sit on it.
We'll just wait. And equally, the Chargers in Baltimore under
fifty and a half in LA. Yes, the game's at
so far stadium, perfect conditions, but the Chargers defense is
certainly a ben don't break, so they'll give up yards
on the ground to Jackson and to Henry. But equally
(24:21):
they might sit back and say, okay, Lamar, throw the
ball against us, drop back, throw it. We're not going
to buy it on the play action. We want you
to try and throw it against us, throw us out
of the stadium. So maybe the under fifty and a
half is a play there. So they are the games
and the lines and the titles and the spreads. I'm
(24:44):
having a look at. As I said, stay tuned later
in the week four the FAB five. Officially, you're rising,
all right, from the NFL to the NBA. I'll speed
it up because that was twenty five minutes. I want
to keep talking about Dyson Daniels because what he is doing,
the boy from Bendigate is remarkable. I was doing some
(25:05):
reading on X and I saw Zach Lowe via at
Zach low Underscore NBA on X and he's one of
the better NBA writers and journalists whatever he calls himself.
He had some data, some numbers for US. Daniels is
averaging three point seven steels per game. The all time
(25:27):
record is held by Alvin Robertson in nineteen eighty six
with three point seven, so he's right there. He's right
there at the time of record, eight o'clock on a
Tuesday night, the nineteenth of November. Daniels also leads the
NBA in deflections. He's got seventy six. Now, he did
(25:50):
play today and I didn't see or record how many
deflections he had. But next in line was Alex Caruso
and Nikola Jokic tie on forty four. He is that
far ahead. It's not funny. He's thirty two ahead second place.
It's insane. He's on pace to surpass six hundred deflections,
(26:15):
which would obliterate the previous record set by Robert Covington
in twenty seventeen Slash eighteen. Covington managed three hundred and fifteen.
Daniels is on pace for six hundred or more. Here's
a little bit more for you. The most ever blocks
plus steals, So the total of how many blocks you
(26:37):
have per game plus the total of how many steals
you have per game From a guard was you know who,
Michael Jordan in nineteen eighty eight. Daniels is averaging four
and a half blocks and steals per game. When you
combine the steals and the swats, Jordan was four point
(27:00):
eight and in ninety eight, Michael Jordan was the defensive
Player of the Year. Daniels genuinely must be a Defensive
Player of the Year candidate. I can see that he's
trimmed up enormously in the market thirty six into about
(27:21):
nine dollars from memory, and he's also shortened up massively
in most improved markets, which is also accurate. Now, these
awards can be popularity contests, and he doesn't play for
a big market team, so that all probably goes against
him and you're better off to do this stuff at
the end of the year versus the start of the year.
(27:42):
But he is balling and today as his Hawks played
against the Sacramento Kings, the very talented Sacramento Kings, Daniels
didn't manage a steal in the game, but what he
did do was win the game on defense. D Aaron
Fox tighter sorry down one on wait one O nine
(28:05):
Darren Fox went to try and take and make a
game winner against the Hawks. Dyson Daniels wasn't the primary defender, strangely,
but he came over and made the only play that mattered.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
Fox, get Don Fodge, try to win to take away
Daniels going to steal and the hearts of the game,
the hearts and what the game?
Speaker 2 (28:33):
What a nine to one away? There you go, Dyson
Daniels does it again. It wasn't a steel, It was
close enough too. He took the ball straight away from
d'arn Fox with only seconds remaining on the clock. In fact,
the clock ran out as Daniels passed the ball to
a teammate. It was a remarkable play from a remarkable
(28:56):
young player. They're calling him the great Barrier Thief, and
that's exactly what it was. On that occasion, he had
four blocks in the game. He's fifteen points per game,
four and a half boards, three assist, three points, seven steals,
and he has been a truly dominant perimeter defender through
fifteen games. Another crazy stat. The numbers just continue to
(29:19):
baffle in the NBA. The Joker Nicola Jokich. He's missed
a couple of games this week, but his stats through
at the early part of the season are phenomenal. He's
averaging twenty nine point eight points per game, thirteen point
seven boards, and eleven point seven assists. Now I saw
on Instagram. Shaquille O'Neill's career best scoring season was twenty
(29:43):
nine point seven. Jokich has him covered this year. Tim
Duncan's career best rebounding season was twelve point nine. Jokisch
has comfortably got him there. And Chris Paul's career best
as SISS season was eleven point six. Yokich's got him covered.
Yo Kitches above Shack for points, Duncan for rebounds, and
(30:04):
Chris Paul for assists. He's better than the best they
ever did. And he's doing it all in the same season.
Oh and he's also shooting the ball at fifty six
percent from the field and fifty six percent from deep.
He also picks up one block per game and one
point seven steals per game. The man is as dominant
(30:28):
on a basketball court as you could ever hope to imagine,
ever hope to imagine. And if he keeps this up,
he even keeps it close throughout the regular season, then
you can label him a full time MVP. It is
as simple as that. And if the writers don't vote
for him and he averages close to thirty thirteen and
twelve on the season and Denver keep winning and he
(30:52):
doesn't win it, that can dead set give it up.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
You're Risen, all right.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
The last one I want to talk at, and probably
because I've been watching Dyson Daniels a fair bit is
one of his teammates, former Duke Blue Devil Jalen Johnson.
He is another reason to watch the Hawks. He's a
versatile scorer, he can pass, he's a decent defender, He's
got great size. He's listed at six point eighty looks
(31:20):
six ' ten. He's a great rebounder. He's nineteen points,
ten and a half boards, five and half for sis
per game. He's also remarkably picking up one point four
steels per game. Not sure whether one point four are
available because Daniels is grabbing Nellie four himself, but he
is a talent. I'm not sure what Atlanta do with
(31:42):
Trey Young. I wonder I know it landed them Dyson Daniels,
but I wonder whether they would have liked to have
kept de Jonte Murray, perhaps built around at Murray and Johnson.
But anyway, we shall see. And even though they're not
winning a heap of game, watching Atlanta is worthwhile because
(32:03):
Dyson Daniels and Jalen Johnson make it worthwhile Cleveland remain
unbeaten fifteen and zip at time of recording. Then you
can start to see some of the best teams in
the NBA separating themselves.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
You're within indeffe.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
All right, that'll do thirty two minutes. That's way too long.
The NFL, we're starting the stretch run week twelve. Of course,
there are eighteen weeks these days. The Chiefs have finally lost.
Now everyone wants a piece of them in the run in.
The NBA is a monthly, and the superstars are doing
their thing. The Aussies are balling, and we are loving
(32:41):
the lot. The NBA and the NFL. We love both.
We'll chat again soon
