Speaker 1 (00:00):
Five f fe Okay run.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Rough protection at the M zone. Hopkins cut him there
and cut him.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
In, they say, The saying goes.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
The rich get richer. Well, the Kansas City Chiefs moved
to eight no. And whether you think they're richer or poorer,
or better or worse, what they are is und fee ted.
DeAndre Hopkins comes to town, scores two touchdowns and his
first ever game as a Chief, the three time All Pro,

(00:56):
the five time Pro bawler. He quickly he did him
to Arrowheads Stadium, catching those two touchdowns from Patrick Mahomes.
And what about the celebration from Nuke from d hot
little bit of I'm no movie buff, a little bit
of remember the Titans action if you don't mind. And

(01:18):
he won't be remembering them for long because he's up
and out of there and he's onto greener pastures. So
the Chiefs get to eight and zip, and the NFL
keeps rolling along. It's Cup week and I've literally just
got home from the Melbourne Cup. So I'll sit here
and rip through what happened in week number nine. The

(01:39):
season is just flying along. Some teams are falling by
the wayside. Hello, Paging New Orleans paging Dallas. Others are
starting to get very, very busy. The Atlanta Falcons are
one of those teams. They sent Dallas reeling. Dallas are
three and five. The quarterback's potentially out for a period

(02:00):
of time, and the Falcons don't look now. The Falcons
are improving rapidly. I really like what they're doing. Kirk Cousins,
it was always going to get better and better.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
He was always going to improve on the back of
that Achilles surgery.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Aaron Rodgers has been the focus and he's coming back
off Achille surgery, of course, but Kirk Cousins continues to
get better and better and better, as do the Atlanta Falcons. Buffalo,
they escaped in overtime. It was a good game against
the Miami Dolphins. But in the end, Tyler Bass a

(02:43):
very reliable kicker in front of Bills Mafia. He was
able to stand, he was able to kick, and he
was able to deliver.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Sixty one yard trade for the lead. It is.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Sixty one yards from T. Bass if you don't mind,
he kicked the ball from the Buffalo Bill's logo. Talk
about Steph Curry and his logo shots. Well, T Bass,
what about that bomb? And yes, anytime I can squeeze
Kevin Harlan into this podcast, I am happy. I am

(03:32):
very very happy. Buffalo seven and two. They might have
the MVP. Josh Allen. I'll get to that shortly. What
about Smoking Joey Burrow? I know the Bengals get some
love on this show because I'm a Bengals man, But Smoking.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Joey Burrow five past.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Tds and finally the Bengals got to win at home
and Joe Burrow is not interested in celebrating the win.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
He wants his boys to get right traveling on Wednesday,
Today's Sunday. Get your party's right, get your minds rate.
It's a big one on Thursday. Get your bodies right,
get your minds right. Let's rock and roll. The Bengals
are in touch.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
They're four and five and they've got a massive date
with the Ravens on Thursday Night Football.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
And with Joe Burrow, you've got a chance.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Justin Herbert, Herbie and JK Dobbins carried the Charges to
five and three.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Herbert had two eighty two and two scores.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
JK Dobbins has to be a contender for Comeback Player
of the Year eighty five rushing yards to rushing touchdowns
if you don't mind Washington, they rolled to seven and two.
They beat the g men Jade and Daniels. You can
go ahead and give him the Offensive Rookie of the
Year trophy right here, right now there.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
We were semi keen on.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
This put them in the Fab five as a seven
and a half point home underdog Carolina. They scrape level
with Newell Means at two and seven in the cellar
of the NFC South. The Saints players decided to take
to Twitter to discuss it. The head coach is Cyon Ahret,

(05:13):
and she's all bad in New Orleans. Philadelphia did enough
to stave off a pretty courageous Jacksonville Jaguars one hundred
and fifty nine yards in a score for Saquon. He
also had a receiving touchdown. He has been sensational, sensational.
He's a contender for Offensive Player of the Year. Make

(05:34):
no mistake about it. I said this a couple of
weeks ago. I stand by it. The Lions, the Detroit
Lions are the best team in football. Jared Goff has
been so accurate seventy five percent completion percentage that's historically great,
and he was good again in the win over Green
Bay at Lambeau in the rain. The Lions are seven

(05:54):
and one and their fourn zip on the road, if
you don't mind. In an unbelief beievably competitive division Minnesota,
they overcame a very gritty Indianapolis squad led by Joe
Flacco on Sunday Night football. Justin Jefferson did his thing
one hundred and thirty seven receiving yards and Sammy Darnold

(06:15):
three touchdowns through the air. If you don't mind, the
Vikings one game behind the Lions in the NFC North.
And then, as mentioned off the top, it's all about
Kansas City. It's always all about Kansas City. They just
know how to win. They are so much like Belichick
and Brady's Patriots at the moment, it's not funny. Great defense,

(06:38):
know what it takes to win, great coaching, make fewer
mistakes in the opposition and come up with a dub.
And although this one went to overtime in the rain
against the depleted Buccaneers, they found a way to win.
Caliendo comes in, he's eligible, here is hunt for the touchdown.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Kansas City remains unbeaten.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Oh yes, they do, my man Joe Buck, Yes, they do.
Unbeaten Kansas City, the best team in football. They've got
the best player in football, and they just picked up
a new shiny toy.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
You're within indiffeir.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
I mentioned it is roughly loosely speaking, the halfway point
of the NFL season. So MVP ranks at the moment,
I've got six names, I'll go from six to one.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
At six, Saquon.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles nine and twenty five rushing yards.
He's had six touchdowns on the ground and another two
through the air. He has really changed the complexion of
the offense for Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
He's at six.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
At five, a running back buddy Derek King Henry already
surpassed one thousand rush yards. He has one thousand and
fifty two rushing yards, eleven touchdowns. He has a Pro
Bowl season numbers wise already. He also has caught two touchdowns,

(08:17):
so one thousand plus yards thirteen total touchdowns already. Unbelievable
from Derrick Henry at four, and I feel dirty listing
him at four. But Patrick Mahomes nineteen hundred and forty
two passyards, eleven tuds, nine interceptions, but they're unbeaten, and

(08:38):
he truly is the most valuable player in the NFL.
He's playing on a team that's far less talented offensively
than a lot of others, but yet they are the
unbeaten team. At three, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills
two thousand and one passing yards, seventeen touchdowns, only two interceptions,

(09:02):
and he's also got three rushing touchdowns if you don't mind.
At two, Action Jackson Lamar Jackson twenty three hundred and
seventy nine pass yards, twenty touchdowns, only two picks, also
five hundred and five rushing yards and two more touchdowns

(09:25):
on the ground.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
An amazing season so far. He is on pace to
be freaky.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
But in a team sport, I understand the quarterback has
a big say on proceedings, more so than any other sport.
But at one Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions, I'm
pushing this barrow all the way home eighteen hundred and
forty yards. I understand others have got better and more
fourteen touchdowns, others have got more four interceptions, others have

(09:56):
thrown less, but seventy five percent completion rate incredibly accurate.
It has barely made a mistake in the past month
or so.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
His team. His team is seven and one, including four
and zero on the road.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
So at the moment, I've got Goff at one, Jackson
at two, Josh Allen at three, and Mahomes at four.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
You're within in.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
A frustrating week in the Fab five last week as
we played the Stinger, here we go. So what I

(10:43):
eventually did, and those who listened last week will know
I was a bit torn on the Fab five had
some basically had seven games.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
I was trying to squeeze into five.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
I pivoted in the Roden direction on a couple the
games I got right New England plus three and a
half at Tennessee tennis. They have no right to be
favorites against anyone. We've got that right. The Patriots won
out right, and then Carolina at Carolina as a touchdown
underdog at home in a divisional contest. That's what we

(11:15):
feast on. So we got those two right. But we
went two and three on the weekend because the Rams
and Hawks played a very very dowur game for three quarters,
got going late, but not enough to cover the forty
eight and a half points. Even though we went to
overtime Denver the Bed. They've had a great season, but

(11:35):
this day were terrible, hammered by Baltimore in Baltimore, and
the Bills look like covering all the way through that
game against Miami ultimately to only win by three points
and for us to not cover. So twenty four and
twenty one on the season. Now, as I said, I've

(11:56):
just got home from the Melbourne Cup. Week nine has
only finished six or seven hours ago, so nothing yet.
When it comes to the Fab five for Week ten,
make sure you stay tuned to the Socials for where
I'm going to head. We start on Friday lunchtime with
Cincinnati at Baltimore. I don't think this will be involved.

(12:21):
Baltimore are a six and a half point favorite in
this game. I am tempted to get involved with Cincinnati
plus six and a half, I don't think I will
because I've got so much other stuff to do before
I lock in on the NFL Oaks Day's coming up
in thirty six hours. Other games I could be interested in.

(12:44):
I'm keen to see what a bounce back looks like
from the Bears at home against the Patriots. The Patriots
off a big win on the road again. The Bears
six and a half point favorites at home. They've been
good at home and they'll be looking to bounce back strong,
so i'd expect them to be in the mix somewhere.
I'm keen to have a look at the Colts at

(13:05):
home as a four and a half point underdog to
the Bill, so we'll give that some consideration. Jacksonville were
good against Philadelphia. Can they keep it close against Minnesota.
They're getting four and a half points as an underdog
at home hosting Minnesota, so that'll be of some consideration.

(13:26):
I think I'll stay away from Denver at Kansas City,
the new look Chiefs, Atlanta and New Orleans. Now this
is fascinating. What can New Orleans dish up? We know
it's been a tumultuous week or will be a tumultuous week.
Some players who need to put up or shut up
because they've been busy on Twitter and not busy on

(13:48):
the football field. So the Saints plus three and a
half at home in a divisional showdown against the Falcons
is of some interest. And then as you roll down
the page, we've got the Steelers at the Commanders. The
Steelers underdogs again as always, the Jets travel out to
the desert to face the Cardinals. That game is a

(14:11):
coin flip as we sit here, And how about this baby,
Philadelphia at Dallas. At one stage you lock this in
as the game of the week. It will be America's
game of the week, I'd imagine, but perhaps not when
the market says one dollar twenty five Philadelphia four dollars
fifteen Dallas, Dallas as a home dog of seven and

(14:35):
a half points. I'm interested in the Eagles. I am
really interested in the Eagles. Do Dallas throw the toys
out of the cot? And Sunday Night football is going
to be a rip of Detroit on the road to Houston.
What do we make if Houston? Is there something left?
You're getting more than a field goal for the Texans

(14:56):
at home against the Lions. I think the Lions are
a buzzle, so this will be a fascinating contest. And
you're getting better than a field goal about the Texans
at home. And we wrap it up Monday Night football
Miami at the Rams. That does not feel like a
game I'll be getting too involved in, so just quickly,
these are the players that I'll be considering Cincinnati plus

(15:19):
six and a half at Baltimore, Chicago minus six and
a half hosting the Patriots, Indianapolis plus four and a
half hosting the Bills, Jacksonville plus four and a half
hosting Minnesota, New Orleans plus three and a half hosting
the Falcons, Philadelphia minus seven and a half at Dallas

(15:39):
and Houston plus three and a half hosting the Lions.
That's a little look at things. As I said, make
sure you stay tuned to the socials. I'll drop that
Fab five later in the week when more information is
available to me and I've had some time.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
To do so. Thanks for listening. I hope you're enjoying
Cup week. We've been finding a few winners.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Melbourne Cup Day was more difficult and certainly Derby Day
and what we found at Corefield. But Oaks Day Thursday,
Champions Day Saturday, and then we lock in for the
back half of the NFL season.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
My name is JJ.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Thanks for listening along, keep enjoying the NFL, keep engaging,
keep sending messages, keep leaving comments, and keep having fun.
