Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, all thanks the sports bet. Then the thrill
of a loft tom. I haven't met this man before,
Rough Gronkowsky.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
We go way back twenty fourteen, Thursday night football first
in New York Jets at Gillette Stadion in the r
in Foxboro, Massachusetts in the rain. We won on a
block field. Go that game, and if we won, you
got to meet the players.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Yes, met yourself, met Drell, Raves, met Tom As will
say that was set up before the interview.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
But it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Now, firstly, I'm just gonna ask you a few quick ones.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Do you love the shit? I love the shirt man,
the gronk spike. It's iconic. And that's actually my two
years that I spent in Tampa Bay. And you got
the Tampa Bay jersey on which is iconic as well.
You know, I got the arm sleeve right there to
cover up the you know, broken forearm, just to protect it,
you know, throughout the years. But iconic shirt man. I

(00:51):
appreciate the love.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
How many people did you badly injure with that big
shield you have?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
You know, I didn't really use it as a weapon.
It was more it was hating you though. Yeah, it
was handy whenever I got hit there. It actually truly
did protect my forearm because it did take some serious beings.
You know, you can see the scar from here to here.
I broke it two times. It was infected as well,
and it was a process to come back from it.
But it was really cool because there was like a
carbon fiber plate over it. So every time I block someone,

(01:18):
I got to go like that. And I just never felt,
you know, any of that hits, any of the hitting,
because I was just so protected by that carbon fiber play.
So I used it as a weapon when I needed.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
You knew that I felt it. You didn't feel it,
but I felt it.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Roll through a few of these. It was the top
three greatest tight ends ever. You can include yourself if
you want, right, you can exclude.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I'm going to exclude myself. I'm going to go with
you know, Tony Gonzalez h unbelievable tight end. I loved
watching him as a child. You know, he was definitely
one of my heroes at that position. Travis Kelsey, you
can never count him out. What he has done, you know,
in his play in the you know, in the postseason,

(02:00):
along with his regular season performances as well. He's a
clutch player and on top of that, I'm gonna go
with this guy was actually one of my true favorites,
Antonio Gates. I just loved his athleticism out in the
field and just how smooth of a player he was
and just how reliable his hands were. And congratulations to

(02:21):
Antonio Gates. He was actually just inducted into the Pro
Football Hall of Fame this year, and I'm really pumped
for him. He deserves it.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Well, you might be behond him many many American athletes,
and we hear about the I guess the bad stories
struggle off the pro sports, whether it's possible football, We
have the same struggles out of him. Heck, come, you've
been able to flourish so well. It seems like you
enjoy your post NFL career as much as you did
you playing career.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah, no doubt about that, man. I mean, I'm one
of the lucky ones. Man. I had a lot of
opportunities presented to me when I was done playing the
game of football once I retired. You know, many guys
don't really have those opportunities just get get presented to
them like I have. And I've been taking advantage of it.
And I was doing a couple of things while I

(03:07):
was playing as well, which kind of prepared me for
after life, you know, after the game of football. But
you know, I'm loving what I'm doing, love shooting commercials.
I'm out here in Australia with sports Bet, you know,
here at the Blue Diamond Stakes day, just you know,
representing sports Bet and I represent Fan Duel in the
United States of America, which you know is the best company,

(03:28):
you know in the United States, the best you know,
sports betting company out there, no doubt about that. So
you know, it's just fun, you know. I just love
to bring the energy to the table and I feel
like that's kind of what has helped me is that
I'm just being myself. I was myself out on the
football field. I'm just being myself after my post career
as well, and it's just you know, keeps taking off
for me, which is unbelievable. I'm very blessed to be

(03:50):
in this situation. And I always have great teammates around me. Man,
I had great teammates around me when I was on
the New England Patriots, when I was on the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, actually had the great teammates of all time,
the greatest players of all time. And now I do
as well with my new family, the Fox Family. You know,
I got you know, the greatest broadcasters around me with
Michael Strahan, you know, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Jamie Johnson,

(04:13):
Kurt Menefie. I mean, those guys are just so bright,
you know, they're so witty, and they're just so on
top of their game. So just to have greats around
you elevates your game. It makes you look that much
better too. So I always have people that are smarter
and more qualified around you that it makes you look good.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I'm going to take that advice on Nada now Rice too. Today.
Of course, we've heard a lot about Gronkowski the Horse,
but you've got a competitor in a horse named beast Mode. Oh,
Sewan Lynch, are you wired about basement man?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I did hear about best Mode, and I heard about
him yesterday because you know, Gronkowski the horse took you know,
you know, not Gronkowski Horse, but Gronkowski took down beast
Mode in the Super Bowl, in the twenty fifteen Super Bowl.
It was actually ten years ago, Super Bowl forty nine,
and I've I feel like that struggle is going to
happen to beast Moode once again coming up here in

(05:04):
a few hours right here, you know, at the call field,
you know, race racehorse racetrack right here, and Besmo, he's
basically he's a competitor. It's hard to take him down.
But Gronkowski, that guy's fierce. He's relentless, and I think
Gronkowski is gonna, you know, the horse is going to
take down Beastmode the horse here today at the races.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I lock it.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
What's the greatest thing you've ever been Asta Spock? I
saw you doing some uh some examples before. What's the
strangest thing?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
I would say a watermelon? So it was really strange
at first, but then it actually turned into one of
the coolest things I've ever spiked, because it explodes all
over the place. Uh and and it's just cool to
see all the bits and pieces of it as well.
And the more pieces that are flown all over the place,
that are flung everywhere, well guess what that means. There
was more power to that grink spike, So it was awesome.

(05:53):
And then you get to eat a little bit of
a watermelon as well. If you're thirsty and you're pretty strong. Good,
you're very strong, dude.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
I feel like you are three reps at the combine,
which is one hundred kilos for us. All right, twenty
five pounds? How many could you do today?

Speaker 2 (06:06):
All right? Man? You know it kind of sucks getting older, man,
like you lose your speed, you lose your strength a
little bit. Uh. You know, I could do about eight
to ten right now.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Nice, I haven't got it. I haven't got I'm not
going to ask you to do it.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
I'm glad. I'm glad because I would have to. I
would actually have to, you know, prepare myself for a
week or two, and then I would be able to
get eat the ton of them. Nice. Yeah, so you
can do about two?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Yeah, maybe three, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
I feel like you can do more, like look at
those alright? Six or seven? All right? There we go.
That last question is being too humble.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Last question. So sports bet puners today are going to
share in a million dollars. Those who back the winner
of the Blue Diamond are going to share in a
million dollars.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
But what is it like?

Speaker 1 (06:49):
We've seen the video online. It's gone viral a million, two, five,
ten million times. What's it like to catch a pass
for one million dollars like you did in Tampa Bay.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Oh? Yes, it's special. I mean it is really special,
no doubt about that. Uh, you know, I wasn't I
wasn't really thinking about it at all. It kind of
just happened naturally, and I needed one more catch to
hit an incentive to make an extra million dollars, which
was special. I actually want to give thanks to the
Buccaneers organization for allowing me to hit the incentives as well,

(07:22):
because we were crushing them that game and it was
the last game of the year and all the starters
got pulled, but they kept me in for one extra
play and designed me to run a to run a
flat route which is an easy route to run. Had
a nice little catch, you know from top bread. Yes,
I sure did. You know. I just can't help myself, man,
I just love to run over defenders. It's just what

(07:42):
I do. I don't like to go down, I don't
like to get tackled. And it was just a really
cool moment. And then what made it so special is
I couldn't have done that without my teammates. You know,
and without the coaches giving me that opportunity. So I
brought the whole entire offense out the dinner and paid
for the whole entire dinner tab, which was really cool.
It was it was boy, it wasn't as expensive as
an incentive.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
That well, thanks to sports Bet. Thanks to you for
coming down. Appreciate it, my man.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Good to see you eleven years after the fact. It
was good to meet you the first time and great
to meet you. Don't get out of the sun.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
It's been a pleasure man. Thank you, Appreciate it.
