Speaker 1 (00:01):
It has been two decades in the making, but Oasis
has finally arrived back in Australia and fans cannot get enough.

(00:21):
But if you've missed out on the hottest ticket in town,
we might just have the next best thing, a tribute
act called No Oasis.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Although this is no ordinary cover band, the group has
dedicated their career to the Gallagher Brothers, replicating their sound
and energy with definitive authenticity, from buying the same guitars
and gear all the way down to the iconic haircuts
the Parkers, of course those famous bucket hats. To tell
us more, No Oasis frontman Darren Spyby and his son

(00:52):
Tom live out of Adelaide. Good morning, guys, Good morning.
Nice to see hey Darren. This must be like Christmas
for you having Liam al right here in the Southern Hemisphere.
Now you didn't get to see them in Melbourne. You
had the full you did the full VIP experience, right,
tell us about.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
That now, Yeah we did.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Yeah, we had a great time and it took a
few days to kind of process.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
What we kind of you know, taken in.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
But yeah, what a fantastic weekend and just lovely to
see so many people together and families and everybody in
their merch trolling the streets of Melbourne was pretty impressive.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Oh it went off, as they say, Tom, you would
have had much of a choice but to love Oasis
growing up. Right Where did it turn from you know,
dad's old people music into realizing just how great the
band is.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Well, I'd always listened to it.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
I think it was always on in the background, so
I knew all the songs. But one day he sort
of called me up for not an audition, but sort
of to help out the band. And that's sort of
when I really fell in love with the music properly,
was once I started playing it myself.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
So, yeah, there's magic.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Okay, Hey Darren, it's not just Tom as part of
the band. Your other son is also involved, right, Dan
also plays. It must be a heck of a lot
of fun play with the family.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah, I definitely is. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
You'd be amazed how kind of emotional people get when
they come to the show and they have the chat
after the gig.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
And kind of say, you know, what a great share
we loved it, blah blah blah. Oh this is my
son Tom and this is my son Dare.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Yeah, people get really kind of engaged with that and
just find it kind of magical.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
You know which it is. It is, it's magical.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
So you're this tribute band called no Oasis. You've dedicated
a lot of time and money to make sure you
look and sound like them, right, So what a fans
I do as they walk away from your show? It's
like almost as good as the real thing.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah. Look, I call it an immersion show.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
So people come in and you know, people have got
their reservations about tribute bands, and that's fine and that
will never go away. But I think, yeah, you know
a lot of people leave our shows just really positively,
and you know, they let themselves go. They get into
the real concert mode the Oasis deliver and.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Hanging out pretty close, hanging out with like minded people, right,
that's always.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Absolutely saving money on real.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Is a true? Is a true?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Got them sort of this standing order for tambourines because
you do something kind of special with them at each show.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
I do, yeah, buy them in dozens and I generally
give one hour every show.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
We placed somewhere, so I have this collection of people
around Australia in the.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
World that have their tambourine on their.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Mental peace or sometimes you know, and they take their photographs.
So we've got this whole collage of people that get
engaged and take on the tambourine well as.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
You are father and son. Like the Gallagher Boys are
famous for not getting along, but you don't sort of
let life imitate or art imitate life or life imitate art.
Do you like? You must be happy they're back together,
because that makes am for a much happier family experience.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah, we're very happy that they're back together. Definitely.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
I think there's always there's always things that go on
in families, so we definitely enjoy the experience.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
It is.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
It is a family affair, but I also think that
that is what keeps us so tightly knit as well.
We sort of hold each other accountable with the music
and performing a great show. So it's really it's a yeah,
it's a privilege.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
You know, when I first announced this to no one
thought that it would last as long without them breaking
up again. You guys know him pretty well. You do
a deep dive all the time. Did you think that
that make it hit?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
I didn't.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
I didn't think they'd come back, But then when it
kept when it happened it kind of made sense, but
I think it's probably more personal and family orientated that
that decision. And of course the money is fantastic, but
I do think that Leam and Knowle's mom, Peggy, probably
had a great deal to do with them coming back together.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Yeah, mum's got back together. But how well do you
know the boys? Like you've met them? I take it
you've we say you had a VIP experience. What do
they think of your tribute band?

Speaker 4 (05:10):
They don't comment, they're not allowed to. You've got to
understand that there's probably over two hundred tribute brands to
Oasis around the world, so I suppose if they give
edge to one that everybody be all over them for
some kind of endorsement. So yeah, it's a tricky you on.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
That actually, Okay, it's a final lift.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone's the big endorsement. Okay,
very few tickets left for the Oasis shows, but there
are some tickets left opportunities to go and see no Oasis,
you've got some shows.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Coming on, we do.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Yeah, we're in Sydney the same night as Oasis actually,
so we're at the Lane Cove in Sydney. There it's
kind of a picnic affairs, a big, open, open.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Sort of spaced area is.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Going to be lovely, good evening and hopefully we'll whisk
ourselves off and get to see most of the Oasis
show once we're off stage.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
So that's pretty exciting.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I love that you're making some coin being no Oasis
enough to go and buy a ticket and then watch
the real thing.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Happy days. You're living a life you two circle. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
By the way, No Oasis, great name. Did you get
first jips on that? Or there other tricky bands with
that name?

Speaker 4 (06:21):
There is another Oasis, but that's a long story and
the lawyers told me not to discuss it.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
And we don't endorse them.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
If you'd like to see the original Noasis performing live,
we're going to pop the details over on the morning
show dot com dot you. Thank you guys.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Good fun.
