Speaker 1 (00:10):
Iihart podcasts, Heem More, Kiss podcast playlist, and listen live
on the Free iHeart app. Now, Britt, there is something
I have to talk to you about. I watched possibly
my favorite documentary that I've seen in a long time
last night on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Does concern me that this is your favorite documentary?

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Shocking? Yes, surprising? Yes, Sticky could not turn it off.
It is called The Poop Cruise and now it's on Netflix.
It's been made by I think the overarching series is
called train Wreck. This is absolutely not sponsored. I just
cannot get over what happened in that documentary. So if
anyone who hasn't seen it yet, The Poop Cruise is

(00:50):
all about a carnival cruise called the Triumph. Now it's
quite a few I mean, how many years ago was it,
Producer Grace, it was twenty thirteen. It happened, so twenty thirteen.
Imagine this. A cruise ship goes out into the middle
of the ocean. There's a fire on board, right, and
so all of the passengers start hearing this code out
repeated over and over and over. And the reason why

(01:11):
this is important is because none of the passengers know
what code alpha means. Of course, not, and so apparently
cruise ships have all these different codes for different situations
so that crew know what's happening, but the passengers aren't alarmed.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, of course, like there's something to look at, but
we don't want you to get scared.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah, so now we all know that code alpha actually
means that there's a fire on board, and that fire
ripped through the engine rooms. They managed to put it out,
but in doing so, it took out all the electricity.
Now there was no lights, there was no refrigeration, there
was nothing on this on this boat. How they had
to see how they like days. It's like literally the
middle of the ocean. But the thing that was the
most problematic is that all of the toilets also work

(01:50):
off the electricity from the boat, so there was no
flashing toilets. Oh no, which meant that they had to
come up with a solution. Have a listen to this.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
It was immediately crisis mood.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
The toilets were working, Well, we can do a number
one in the shower and then.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I'm telling you a gap bad fash. I would never
expect having a poop and a red bag. Oh no,
oh no, no, Suddenly everyone's out for themselves. You could
hear the panic.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
We were starting to smell urine.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Oh oh my god. It was terrifying.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Guys. Imagine being on a cruise ship, which I love cruising.
Imagine getting stuck in the middle of the ocean in
the dark and being given a red bag to do
a pooh in.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
So that's okay if it's like, hey, if you guys
got a poof for the rest of the day. But
how long are they stuck out there for?

Speaker 1 (02:40):
So it ended up being about three and a half
or four days that they were actually stuck out there
until what happened is these tugboats came and they collected them,
and the tugboats pulled them into the nearest port. The
problem is is that when the tugboats started pulling the ship,
the ship lent sideways and all of the contents of
the toilets and everything else that had been building up
just sloshed over the walls and onto the roof, and

(03:03):
it was raining down the walls, I feel like it,
and it was all over the floor. So they were
just way I don't know why I got to the why.
It was a fascinating documentary, but also I really liked
this idea. And I know that some of the codes
are secret. Don't go and look them all up. We
did it for you. And I just want to share
a few funny ones. Gon cruisers have these different codes.

(03:24):
Some of them are very serious and some of them
are really funny. There's also a bit of a secret
hidden language on cruise ships. So have you guys heard
of like the pineapple thing? So the pineapple thing is
if you're a patron on a cruise ship and you're
either wearing a pineapple paraphernalia or you stick a sticker
of a pineapple on your door, it means that you're
a swinger. And so apparently like a lot of people

(03:45):
go on these cruise ships so that they can spot partners.
And I know the pineapple.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I have heard of the pineapple. I know friends that
have used the pineapple in fact.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Really yeah, how to go down for them? Well, what
do you do? Do? You just knock on the door
because they've got a pineapple out the front, and you
just know that it's kind of like free entry.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
No, it's a free entry. You just come in and
out when you're.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Coming pee in my shower. I also want to know
if this is like specific cruise ships that this happens
on or is it just like you can go on
the Disney cruise and like mom and Dad might have
a pineapple on the door.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, I think it overflows into like the supermarkets. Men
we used to talk about the supermarket dating where they
have like bananas or pine different codes in your shopping
trolley that signal to other people if you're like available.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Or looking for stuff. Or well, if you're ever on
a cruise and you hear code winning, he's one to
look out for. Code Winnie means that a passenger has
just done a poo in the pool, but they don't
want anyone to know about it because they can't pump
a pool on a cruise ship. Where does the water go?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I think you're doing a disservice to the cruise ships
here by out in their secrets.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Well, hopefully you're on a cruise that doesn't have any
of these problems. That would be a real worry.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Well, like people with pooing pools all the time, These
pools are full of kids, Like there are turds floating
in pools.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Okay. Another one was code road Cone and that means
that there's a passenger using walkers who is moving extremely slowly.
Why would you ever need to give a call out?
Why do you need to announce that? Okay, another one
code oscar man overboard you probab, shouldn't that one? That's
really serious. Guys cruise ships, they're a will to their
own and no one ever wants to get stuck on
the poop cruise. But if you do want something to watch,

(05:15):
this evening fantastic doc.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Oh okay, well, I don't know if I'm going to
add it to my list tonight. I am.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I do genuinely love cruising. It has not changed anything
for me. I would love to go back and do another.
I think we went on a p and O cruise
last year, loved it.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
If you got stuck on a poop cruise you would
feel differently. But thank you Laura for bringing that high recommendation. Hey,
we're gonna get out of here.
