Are you ready, Ali's Welcome to the Rise and Conquer Podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Thank you so much for having me.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Are you so excited to be here?
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah, very excited.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
I haven't been to the Gold Ghost yet this year,
so also excuse to come up and do it in person.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
So thanks having me.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
No, thank you so much for coming in person. I
am so excited because you have been part of the
community for a very long time. We actually met when
we went on the Beautiful Rise retreat together and honestly,
I fell in love with your personality. Like even before
we were talking off air, I was like, how's Roy,
how's the boat going? Because I really remember your energy
(01:36):
and I was so excited that you won our competition
to come on the podcast to share yourself your beautiful
purpose in life. So should we get straight into it?
And do you want to tell the R and C
community who you are and what you do your magic? Sure?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah? So thanks again.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
So my name's Elise and I'm from South Australia and
I have a business called Live and Outdoor Adventures, which
is a women's outdoor adventure business and all with the
purpose of helping to inspire and lower the barriers and
to create more opportunities for women and girls to get
outdoors because I believe and we all know that it's
(02:15):
really beneficial for our body, our mind, and our soul,
but also the planet and getting people to connect with
nature so that they then care about nature as well.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
That's so beautiful and incredible and so unique. I feel
like when you told me, I was like, I, first
of all never heard like women's only adventures, and I
feel like the girls kind of get left out of adventures.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Do you agree, Yeah, I'm in Historically that's definitely been
the case, and I'm excited to see that there is
quite a lot of ground as well with other women's
adventure businesses. I just want an article about a Queensland
group this week. And back in Adelaide, when I started
the business, I discovered they actually were already to women's
outdoor adventure businesses. So it's been really beautiful to say, hey,
(02:59):
I come in peace. I want to you know, collaborate,
not compete, and that has happened. We have worked together
to put on bigger events. And I really think that
while there is still a lot of gender disparity in
the outdoors and that men still are probably overrepresented in
terms of like being instructors, but also in their own personal.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Time doing outdoor adventures.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
So it's really beautiful to see that that is shifting
and more girls are sort of getting involved at all levels,
whether it's running the business, becoming qualified as an instructor
in an outdoor space, or as a participant as well.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
That is so amazing, And yes, I agree, I feel
like me personally when I think of like my downtime
or having me time, I'm like, oh, I want to
get a massage, I want to read my book. But
I'm like, how much of that is just programmed.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
In me because I'm a woman.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Because my husband, you know, he'll go golfing, he'll you know,
want to go surfing, He'll want to do those things.
And so I'm like almost like very much looking into
the conditioning. Whereas this come from when you were telling
me about your business, So how did it kind of
come to be? And also how did you almost get
(04:14):
the confidence and the like not the idea, but maybe
the idea also, but like the idea and the confidence
and like, I'm going to create something that's so unique
in a space that is predominantly you know, male focused.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yeah. Well, I studied teaching and I was going to
be a pe teacher, and fortunately through my degree there
was like one subject that was outdoor education. So doing that,
I kind of really realized that that was where my
talents slide and where my passion led in not just
teaching kids sport and movement, just from the sport context
(04:49):
where it's competitive and it's usually you know inside, if
it's in a gym or something, and being more out
in nature where there was less competition. It's more just
about being present and enjoying, and so I really felt
like that was my drive to be more involved in
helping people move outdoors. So after graduating, I didn't end
up becoming a teacher. Much like you decided, we all
(05:11):
do it. It's never a waste, as you know. You know,
you bring all of your law degree into this business.
The same with me and my education degree. So I
shifted into the outdoor tourism space, and through the different
jobs that I had, whether it was snorkell guiding or
kayak instructing, I just noticed that the women tended to
(05:32):
take a back seat and that I had to prove
myself as a female staff member, even especially on boats.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
It was still quite old.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
School and the masculine and the old jokes are still
around of oh, go back to the galley and make
me a sandwich, and I just thought that we'd come
past that. And so over these different experiences working with
other businesses, I just found well, I was thinking, what
would I want, you know, if this whole tour was
(05:59):
set up for me, what would it look like and
how would I want to have this experience? And if
I'm wanting that, then I can't be the only one.
So I felt like if there was a place where
women could come and see a female role model as
their kayaking instructor, for example, or they could openly tell
the group like, oh, I've got my period, I'm a
bit crampy. Can someone else deer the kayak or whatever
(06:22):
it may be, just have open conversation the life jackets
a bit tighter in my boobs and not be self
conscious in front of men. Then that would really help
those women to flourish. And they can learn to reverse
the trailer, they can learn to tie the surfboards on
the car roof if they're shown and they're tour in
a calm and safe way. So I was like, well,
I could be that person. So COVID, you know, did
(06:45):
a lot of harm, but a lot of good in
the fact that it gave me the space and time
when i'd lost my work to think, well, this is
my opportunity that I could create that space. And an
old mentor an employer called me, Matt Waller. He's very
dear to me, and he called me and said, how
are you going with COVID? And I explained that lost
(07:05):
my work and he said, well, just start your own.
And I thought, I can't start my own business. I
don't have a business degree. I literally thought it was
illegal to start your own business.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I don't have a business license.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah, yeah, that's what I thought. And who knew it's
not illegal.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
You can get an ab in and maybe and it's
free and yeah, and it really blew my mind. It
was just he gave me that permission slip that I
needed to say, No, you could start it on your own,
just start small. And he was like, I would invest
in your business, but I don't need to just start small.
So I literally bought two stand up paddle boards and
got an ABN and then step by step got a
website and got insurance and then on and on it
(07:42):
went to gradually grow this women's outdoor adventure business that
it is today.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
That's amazing.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
And so I remember when we were at the Rise Retreat,
which was it was August last year, wasn't it. So
we were sitting by the pool and you were kind
of talking to me and you were saying, you know,
I'm implementing a lot of the because you've done the
project and you've done the Abundance Academy, and you're saying,
I'm implementing like a lot of the steps and the
(08:12):
you know, attracting people in and I feel like I'm
not quite there yet.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
And I remember at that.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Point in time you were like, you know, I've made
a start and like some people are coming, but I'm
not selling them out. And so it's so incredible to
hear you say we have sold out retreats now adventure. Sorry,
I would love to know kind of even the identity
switch from and kind of what you had to process
and maybe the blocks that.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Came up from then to now.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
And first of all, congratulations, I'm so proud of you.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, even on that retreat, which was such an amazing
space and such a beautiful experience, But even then, I
remember telling you that, you know, I'm a projector and
human design and I feel like I need to wait
the invitations. And then that put me in a bit
of a victim lie instead of woes me, I've got
to sit back and wait to be invited to the party,
Like this is so tough, and yeah, you just reminded
(09:07):
me to just like stay in my power and life.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Was like, what did I say?
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah, just saying that, don't use that as like an
excuse of like you can still sell out your experiences
and be seen just by stay in your lane, stay
in your power, do what you're good at. And that
helped a lot, because you know, to be seen and
to be invited, you just have to be doing what.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
You love doing rather than you know, sitting on a computer.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
And yeah, so I've found that I've even since we spoke,
shifted the business location down to the Flurio Peninsula, which
is south of Adelaide. So that area it's like Narrjerry
Country and Ghana Country, and there's beautiful coastal areas, there's
amazing bushwalking places, and it's pretty untapped commercially. And even
(09:52):
though I was thinking I need to set up shop
here and be really pushing myself out there, but thanks
to the retreat, and thanks to that mindset shift that
you reminded me of and that I'm constantly getting reconfirmed
every time I listen to the Rise and Conker podcast,
is to just like focus on you because no one
is you and that is your power, of course, and
(10:14):
just keep doing what I love doing. So if I
love powderboarding, I might not have any customers booked in,
but if I go for a sunsets down at powderboard session.
My trailers there people see me living that lifestyle, feeling abundant,
feeling excited about being outdoors, seeing a dolphin, and then sure,
I might put things on social media and then that's
what attracts people in and creates those invitations. And only
(10:37):
last week the town where I have been doing powderboarding,
it's a little town called Normanville, and they won the
small tourist town of the state, so and they invited
me to be part of a video and that they're
going to promote.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Through like the Maoris and Commission, And.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Those invitations only come if you're there and just yeah,
really just sticking in your own lane rather than worrying
about what's not coming or what's not there, shifting the
mindset to look at, well, what do I have, What
power do I have?
Speaker 2 (11:04):
What's within my control?
Speaker 4 (11:05):
And so I'm constantly having to remind myself rather than
looking at the lack, focus on the abundance it's.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Already around me.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
And it always, it always works out, like even this podcasts, well, it's.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
So magnetizing, Like I think, when you're in your own
energy and you're doing things because like I truly.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Believe, you know, reality, you know, the three D.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
What we're seeing is just reflection of our internal So
it's like any time we want things to pop up
and you know, reflect to us success, you know, contentness, happiness,
you know, et cetera, et cetera. It's about how can
I cultivate that within myself? And I knew when I
(11:49):
met you, when we were talking and when you're like, oh,
you know, like I'm I'm trying to start I'm trying
to get more people, I was like, you have such
a magnetizing energy, Like I was instantly attracted to you
at the retreat and I could feel that, and I
was like, but you need to believe it, Like you
need to feel your own energy and be like yeah,
I am me and I know people are going to
(12:11):
meet me and be like wow, that was an incredible experience.
And it's hard because we often need evidence. We're like, well,
I need the retreat to sell out first, and then
I'll be in that energy. But it's not how it works.
You have to show up first, which why so many
people kind of you know, fall into the victim mentality,
they kind.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Of miss the mark there.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
So I even love that, even you being like, well
if I want people to come and enjoy paddle boarding
like I'm going to go out and enjoy it. I'm
going to be the energy first, and that's what's going
to you know, attract people to me. So you've just
done exactly what you should. So that just makes complete sense.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Yeah, And I think a lot of that mindset shift
came through the Abundance Academy as well, because I remember
in the follow up video that I sent into you guys,
because I'd had such a shift in such a short
space of time. And even though I've listened to the
podcast for five years now, there was still new content
and new concepts that I hadn't really embodied before. And
(13:13):
so going through that process, it was teaching me or
reminding me that even if my bank account is low,
even if I'm scared that bookings aren't coming in, if
I yeah, shift into that mindset and imagine, well, how
would I act today if this trip and retreats we
do actually run retreats too, If this retreat was sold out?
(13:33):
How would I behave today? What is that CEO energy
that I need to embody today and act as if
that's how the business is already running?
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Because if the account is already looking low.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
Then it's easy to say, oh, it doesn't matter if
I sleep in, or it doesn't matter if I don't
go on socials today. But when you step up and think, no, well,
what would I be doing today if this trip coming
up was sold out? And act in that way and
it always works. I don't know how I can forget
because it always works or and it's so funny that
I can still sometimes doubt, but it always works out.
(14:03):
And even when it doesn't work out, so sometimes we
have had to cancel trips that haven't sold out, but
then there's always another reason, something bigger or better comes
in and I just keep being shown that time and
time again. And last year in November, after the Abundance Academy,
I came up to the Gold Coast for the Paddle
(14:25):
Australia Conference and I was invited to join the Paddle
Australia Advisory Panel.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
And two weeks earlier during.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
The Abundance Academy, when I got this invitation, my immediate
response was I can't go. I'm already booked in for
a school camp, so I was gonna say no to
that opportunity of meeting all these paddling Olympians, being an
advocate for my industry and having a trip to the
Gold Coast because of a couple of days of work
on a camp. I'm thinking, I can't let people down.
(14:54):
I can't miss this opportunity. I need the income. And
through the Abundance Academy, it made me realize, oh no,
actually I say no to this.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
This bigger opportunity will lead something better and greater.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
And so yeah, I made the decision from that abundant
mindset rather.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Than the scarcity mindset.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yeah, and of course the school was able to find
another instructor to replace me really easily. Parer Australia covered
my transport and accommodation and everything fell into place, and
I had this incredible trip and met some idols of
mine and I just yeah, it was that reminder of
when you lean in and just trust that everything's going
to work out, that life happens for you, and yeah,
(15:29):
it just keeps being affirmed to me.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
That's amazing and I love too. Like again, also, I'm
the exact same like, I will get in these kind
of ruts and these like you know, whether it's victim
mentality or like, oh well, things aren't working out, etc.
And then you do notice like the more you focus
on that, the more you get of that, and so
it is often hard to like switch, but once you do,
(15:53):
and then you start gaining momentum, like that's when you
it's like a remembering. It's like, oh, yeah, I remember,
and I truly believe, like that's our life. Life's work
is we need to It's not like you do it
once and then it's easy and then it happens for
the rest of your life. You need to constantly switch.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
You need to constantly show up.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
And the reason why I call it the work, because
you know work, is it's not easy in regards to well,
it is easy because we're just talking about energy, but
it's still work in regards to You have to look within.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
You have to be curious.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
You're like, why do I think I'm you know, I'm
not capable of this thing, or it should be this way,
or I just yeah, I think that's if we can
constantly focus on the internal and be curious of why
our reality isn't reflecting and then never blame the reality,
never blame the other person, and be like, well, what's
(16:54):
the belief that's currently running the show ye what's the
old Georgie that's currently running the show? Like, what's the
conditioning that is creating my reality to.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Look like this?
Speaker 1 (17:05):
And also knowing at any time it can shift so fast. Yeah,
And like I've even been like leaning into this term,
which is take it as you will kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
But it's like, I know when I reaffirm and.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
I lock back into my truth, reality bends to me.
And that's a weird concept to like, you know, think
about in a logical way, but I'm like, no reality
can shift in a moment. It can bend to me
like that is it's just a reflection, and it just
feel it feels so good to take control. And I
(17:39):
think it's funny because a lot of people are like,
but it doesn't feel good because they may be in
that victim mentality of like life so hard or et cetera.
But it feels so good because you can take responsibility
and you can be really like, all right, well, what
needs to shift. I've if I was a lease you
know at the end with the sold out retreats, you know,
with going to these conference says with being someone who
(18:02):
was an authority in the industry, like how would she
be and of course she's going to do exactly what
you did.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
So that's so incredible.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yeah, and it's an interesting point because that's something I
have to teach my clients because I set up the
business to, as I said, inspire, lower barriers and create
opportunities for these women who don't typically go and have
outdoor adventures in their downtime. Yeah, so it's already a
hard sell. So I'm already trying to pitch to women
who it's not their default. They don't already go on
(18:31):
an annual retreat, they don't already go for a bushwalk
on their weekends. It's the ones that are hesitant to
do that or don't feel capable or confident to do that.
So I'm really having to be their mindset coach in
just my marketing even to say that one, you're worthy
of spending money on this yep to You're going to
feel the results tenfold because when you're out in nature
(18:54):
and connecting back to yourself, connecting with other women and
connecting with nature and the environment, feel better and that
automatically raises your energy. You're going to go back to
your families or your workplaces or your partners feeling better
and lighter. And on the weekend I ran a women's
kayaking expedition in the beautiful Crong National Park. It was
(19:14):
just a one night trip on there and Jerry Country,
And I had a woman in the morning come up
as I'm preparing breakfast, cooking some pancakes and berries in
the sand dunes, and she came up after she'd just
been for a walk and a swim. She just said, Alice,
I knew that I wanted this weekend, but I didn't
know how much I needed it, And she just burst
into tears and gave me a hug, and it was
just so yeah, reaffirming of we can't even quantify how
(19:39):
much benefit comes to us from having that time in nature.
And I think as women having that women's circle space
where they're sharing their struggles, they're sharing their apprehension about
the trip, their doubts, and their life experiences, all in
this container of being in beautiful, remote wilderness. And it
doesn't have to take long, it doesn't have to be
(20:00):
it doesn't have to be expensive, but the benefits are
so huge and so yeah, I'm really having to encourage
my audience to understand that message that you're giving that
you just have to shift internally first, and then it's
reflected in the outer world. And if these women can
say yes to having an outdoor adventure experience for themselves.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
It's bushwalking, kayaking, powderboarding, surfing.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
They will just feel the ripple effects in the rest
of their life.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
We're just pausing this episode for a second to tell
you about the Abundance Academy. This is our signature thirty

If you're ready to step into the energy of real,
effortless abundance, check out the link and the show notes
(21:57):
for all the details. All right, let's get back into
the ap. So and so, like the women coming on
your adventures, what are some common kind of mindset shifts
or you know, things they struggle with that you're kind
of seeing, you know, repeat and you can really see
like women are stuck in these certain areas.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I think often a lot of my customers are either
busy with full time work, so women in their thirties
that are stressed in the career.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
Sometimes it's people that are new to motherhood. It's the
first time they've taken out time for themselves away from
the kids. Sometimes it's also women who are older and
maybe they've just had a divorce or they've left work
and they've something got all this space and time they're thinking, well,
what actually do I love when I'm not with my kids?
What are my passions on my hobbies or my interests.
Who am I exactly outside of yeah, who am I
(22:51):
in relation to my husband? Or who am I in
relation to my kids? Who are you in relation to yourself?
And typically, when they finally come and experience one of
these retreats or adventures, because some of them it's even
a microadventure, a two hour powder boarding lesson can still
show a huge amount of growth in a woman because
she's put down her guard, She's felt safe and seen
(23:14):
and supported. She's got out of her comfort zone, and
I've given her some helpful, encouraging, kind tips to get
her standing up. And then she leaves feeling empowered, She
feels capable, she feels confident, She feels that she can
trust strangers because at the start of the session as
a stranger, and also, I hope believes in the capabilities
(23:36):
of women too, because she wasn't relying on her husband
to create the experience. She sees a female instructor as
a safe space and knows that even if she falls off,
if I can help rescue her back on the board,
she feels safe and supported by another woman. And on
the weekend, we did have a capsized kayak and being
able to successfully rescue them and get them both back
(23:56):
in their boat. They were so surprised, and I was like,
course I can rescue. I'm a kayaking instructor. But that also,
I hope helps change the perceptions and in society at
large of what women are capable of and what we
can do. And that's not to diminish everything that men
bring to society and everything that men do for us
(24:17):
as women as well. And I wouldn't be in business
without the support and mentorship from some amazing man in
my life. But to show women that they can do
it is just so powerful.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
That's incredible, and I think that is that's quite game changing,
especially for when a woman when she has her own back,
you know, Like I feel like me and Tim went
through a very you know, it's coming up thirteen years
together and literally next week, and we went through an
interesting time even last year, and it was really about
(24:51):
again I had to go through this process of like, well,
who am I without Tim? Not that we were separated
or anything, but like who am I without him? Who
am I not being a mom? Who am I not
in business? And I really had to kind of like
build that self concept and have this really beautiful relationship
with myself where he compliments me and he empowers me,
(25:15):
and you know, being a mum empowers me.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
But it's like that's not the end all be all,
it's just it's.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Me first and having my own back, and so I
think that's like that's really important.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
Definitely, and then it just makes the relationship so much
stronger when you have that mutual respect and mutual adoration,
and there's the cohabitating and the convenience of being able
to assist one another and support one another, but it's
not codependent to the point that you can't live without them.
You've got your own life and your own passions and
your own hobbies and skills, and then when you come together,
(25:49):
it just elevates both of you and you can support
and make everything easier. And yeah, I feel that that's
been the same in my relationship because we're planning to
move on too. My partner's sailboat. It's a huge adventure.
It's way out of my comfort zone. So I'm going
to have to practice what I preach to my clients
in you know, getting out of your comfort zone and
trying new outdoor experiences and backing yourself, and I really
(26:12):
believe that all of my other experiences outdoors are going
to assist that. But just knowing that I'm not going
to be solely dependent on Roy to sail the boat,
I'm going to learn so that I can feel confident
that should anything happen, I've got that. And then having
that mutual trust and the way that we can then
lean on each other makes her so much stronger together too.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
I love that, And you know what, I have such
a good role model for that. My mum is like,
you know, she was apprehensive too, because my dad wanted
to buy a boat live in the boat.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
They retired when they were fifty, and.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
She was like, I don't want to live in a boat,
Like I don't want to do this.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
And then they did it.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
And I have seen her like she's so adventurous. She
knows how to sail the boat. She'll be up you
know the mask, like pulling all the ropes. I don't
know what they do, but she knows everything. She knows
how to do it. She's so capable. She's always the
one to jump in first and go snorkeling. They have
like this fun little machine that's like.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
A motor in the water.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Yeah that like they can be underwater motorized like a
handheld thing, they go snorkeling, and she has just absolutely
like she's always kind of been like that growing up,
always been so capable. But I've loved to see her
thriving on the boat and yeah she does it, like
she gets in and she does it, and yeah, she's
(27:32):
such a great role model for me for that, because
it's so true, like we shouldn't just be sun tanning
on the side. We can get in, we can have
fun and you know, of course we can do both.
But I think that's such an incredible message.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
Yeah, the sunsetting on the side reminds me of when
I was growing up. We had family in Crescent Head
and we'd travel to the East Coast from South Australia
to visit my family. And I can distinctly remember being
fourteen years old and looking out into the surf brain
and only seeing men, and.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I was already a bit nervous.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
I was self conscious of my body, being an adolescent girl,
and I thought, well, I can't actually see any girls
out there. Maybe it's a heavy break, maybe girls don't
surf here, Like I'm not meant to be here anyway,
and so I was able to talk myself out of
getting in. And then on the flip side of that,
just two weeks ago running a women's surf camp and
just looking out and seeing an all female lineup, And
(28:28):
when I ran a surf camp last year, that was
the first time I'd seen a whole surf break where
it's just women, and I was like, this is really
powerful and I've helped create that. So yeah, I think
that and then the more that young girls are then
seeing other women out in the surf like I saw
this morning, that helps them see that their life can
be so much more than traditional gender roles, and their
(28:51):
life can be so much more than And of course
they can still ten on the beach and they can
still want to have massages in their downtime.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
But absolutely to not feel boxed into a.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Like there are other opportunities. And I really believe that,
you know, we're animals. We've evolved and we now spend
a lot of our time in buildings in artificial light,
but we're meant to be in nature, and so just
it's that it's not really teaching, it's just that reminding
people that that's still within them. That of course, they
feel better when they're outdoors in fresh air, in sunlight,
(29:22):
jumping into the ocean, because that's we're designed to be outdoors.
And so it's just that remembering that often comes through
with clients as well. And so that's so beautiful that
your mum is remembering and she's found all that in
her retirement.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
That's amazing.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
I know, it is amazing, and I love where things
are going with that because that's like, you know, with
my daughter Ivy, that's something I'm really going to encourage her, like, yeah,
play sport, like go and do the adventuress stuff. And
she I can really see it, like she wants to
do everything that I'd wants to do and what I
want to do, Like she's so adventurous.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
But at the same time she wants to come put
make up on with Mum when she's getting ready.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
So I think, like we can be whoever we want
to be and really instilling that in everyone and being like, well,
go figure out who you.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Want to be.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Let's finish off the potty with some rapid fire questions.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
What is your go to mantra?
Speaker 4 (30:13):
Well, of course at the top of my mind is
life happens for me, and that couldn't have mine anytime.
I have to keep reminding myself of that and no
one is you, and that is your power. And it
sounds so cliche, but it really does help me remember
that the outdoor adventure space might look a certain way typically,
but my space can be different. So no one else
in my space might be running kayaking tools that look
(30:36):
like mine, where you can do yoga and meditation at
the experience and have berries on your pancake because it's
a bit different to maybe what you typically think of
and see. But remembering that that's my strength and not
thinking that you might put people off. If my career
experiences around what I enjoy, that's going to attract the
right people, know what you mean?
Speaker 2 (30:54):
That's my power.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
I love that so much. What's a current book you're reading?
Speaker 4 (31:00):
I just got your land. Well I've only just starting.
Is it There to Lead by Brene Brown?
Speaker 3 (31:06):
And I haven't read it.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Yeah, I know it's not in you. I've heard a
lot of her quotes before.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
But that book was given to me by my sea
kayaking mentor, Malcolm Hamilton, who was training up a group
of US women to paddle across baths straight over a
decade ago.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
So I really trust.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
Him and he saw a lot in me, a lot
of potentially me back then, and now I have a
career as a kayaking instructor thanks to him. So the
fact that he lent that book to me, I was like,
all right, I trust him.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
I better read this.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
So I've only just started, but the first chapter already
about you know, feeling nervous and excited at the same time,
feeling like doubt and confidence at the same time, just
being able to hold that duality that helping me love that.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
I do love that book. And last question, what are
you currently calling in manifesting?
Speaker 4 (31:52):
So I'm manifesting my dream lifestyle, which looks like selling
out experiences for women into Australia from spring through to
autumn and then having winters off to just sail the boat.
And a lot of people, you know, say that you
can't do that. You have to work full time to
afford that lifestyle. Boats, you're expensive, and I hear lots
(32:13):
of naysayers, but I'm really just leaning into that that
can happen for us, and that with the right tours
and the right energy that I will be able to
make that lifestyle work for us, and I'm really excited
for Roy to hopefully come and work in the business too,
and to just create more expensive experiences on the Flurio,
combining wellness, nature, aboriginal culture, great food, and then having
(32:39):
winters off, because why not.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
I love that so much, because what's the point of
life otherwise. Yeah, oh my gosh, that is so incredible.
And I see that like it's already happened. It's done.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Yeah, it's done, It's done.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Yeah, Oh my gosh, Alice, it has been such a
pleasure to have you on the podcast.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
I just want to say thank you so much for
making the trip and being a longtime community member. And
like I said, the first time I met you, I
could just like tell that you were so special and
you had such beautiful energy. So it's so it's been
just amazing to have you here and have you talk
about what you love. And you can feel the energy
and the purpose and the passion in when you're talking
(33:20):
about your business, when you're talking about this, so I
just know it's going to be better than you could
have imagined.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
No doubt.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Thank you so much for having me, and that's definitely mutual. Yeah,
I've been listening to the podcast for so many years
now and seeing your evolution has just constantly been an expander.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
For me and my business. So thank you so much.
