Speaker 1 (00:08):
You're listening to Amma Mia podcast. Good Morning Angels. Demara's
Treasure here jumping onto your morning tea, supplying the voice

(00:28):
of Ash London, who has received the early Christmas present
of laryngitis. Her fingers have been whirling and tapping up
a storm across the entire Internet to bring you all
the biggest entertainment stories from around the globe today. James
Cameron pretty much calls Matt Damon a liar, Chrissy Teagan
does herself a mischief just before Christmas, and the stars
of Emily and Paris Show is just how close they

(00:49):
are in real life. So we chatted on yesterday's show
about the fact that Brooklyn Beckham has blockt his siblings
and parents on Instagram, and now it seems like we
know the reason. It all started with some spon con
Brooklyn uploading a video about cooking a Christmas chicken while
advertising a white tea. Right, so it has been beer

(01:09):
brining for the last twenty four hours.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
I'm just finishing putting some Rosemarie butter around.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
But yeah, I mean the Holidays is basically an excuse
to dress up all she all smart. So I'm where
my favorite express look really cozy bottoms, my plastic.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
White T shirt from Express, which is the best white
T shirt because it's heavyweight, you really feel that quality.
And of course a flannel.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
So I'll see you guys when it's done.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Right, this beautiful chicken.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
We'll see you guys in around forty five minutes to
an hour. Well, Victoria simply liked the post, right, She's
proud of us on making those dollars, But the liking
spawned a flurry of comments from fans urging them to reconcile.
The comments obviously proved too much and before they knew it,
boom locked. For years, we've been hearing the anecdote about

(01:59):
the hundreds of millions of dollars Matt Damon missed out
on by turning down the lead role in Avatar, which
eventually went to Sam Worthington. Matt's told it a couple.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Of times I turned down, and I will go down
in history as the person because Jim Cameron called me.
He offered me ten percent of Avatar. You will never
meet an actor who turned down more money than me. So,
but I was in the middle of shooting the Bourne
Ultimatum and he wanted to shoot during our post production,

(02:27):
and we always needed more work in our post production,
and I needed to be around. I needed to be
available to do more work in our post production. He
was really lovely and he said, you know if you don't,
because this movie doesn't need you, It doesn't need a
movie star at all. He goes, the movie's the star,
the idea is the star, and it's going to work.
But if you do it, I'll give you ten percent

(02:48):
of the movie.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Well. Update, James Cameron is now sensationally claiming it never
bloody happened, instead claiming an initial discussion was hat but
it was very clear, very early on, there was a
scheduling conflict. Though it's true the pair have discussed the
blockbucks to hit, The Titanic director wanted to make it
clear that Matt's involvement was never a done deal, adding

(03:11):
there never was a deal. We never talked about the character.
We never got to that level. It was simply an
availability issue. I'm choosing to believe Matt's version of events
because they're far more dramatic. Stick around the Christmas injury
no one saw coming for Chrissy Teagan and our favorite
Emily in Paris, characters dish the dirt on just how
close they are. Irl, Let's get back into it. Christmas

(03:34):
can be a minefield for personal injuries, indigestion from too
much turkey, a headache from too many shampoos, perhaps an
electrocution from dodgy Christmas lights. But Chrissy Teagan has thrown
a new one into the mix. She was planting candy
canes in pots with her kids and decided to have
a chomp on one, which resulted in an emergency trip

(03:55):
to the dentist. When you fell off.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
From Venier, I have the whole piece business. Let mombs
deal for their kids so you can. I you grew.
I'm clearly ky.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
I was trying to create magic now I have not.
The best part was her having to attend her kid's
Christmas school performance, missing her front tooth. Stuff of nightmares
for every month. First of all, we're all loving having you,
Emily and Paris to enjoy just before Christmas, and in
a recently published interview, lead star Lily Collins has revealed

(04:31):
just how close her and her co star Ashley Park are,
with Lily revealing that Ashley sang at her twenty twenty
one wedding, adding that her voice was absolutely stunning. It
was for a really meaningful part of the ceremony, as
she told the outlet in a separate interview, and that
was probably the most nervous and honored I've ever been.
Lily has since gone on to become a mother to
daughter Tove, who is now eleven months old. That's your

(04:54):
morning tea for this morning, Spillers. Hopefully we'll have a
Christmas miracle on our hands tomorrow with a miraculous return
of Ash's voice. In the meantime, make sure you follow
this fill podcast on Instagram and TikTok to stay up
to date with all the latest entertainment, and we'll be
back in the morning. Mamma Mia acknowledges the traditional owners

(05:16):
of the land. We have recorded this podcast on the
Gadigal people of the Oronation. We pay our respects to
their elders past and present, and extend that respect to
all Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander cultures.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
