Speaker 1 (00:11):
So much.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
You're listening to a Muma Mia podcast.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Mamma Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and borders
that this podcast is recorded on.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
From Mamma Maya. Welcome to the Spill your daily pop
culture fix. I'm Cassanu lu Giz and I'm Laura Brudnick.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
On today's show, we are talking about a vow renewal
that has sparks some thoughts in my brain. And also
Harry Styles's brand new sex toy. Which is it a
good thing or a bad thing or We've got some thoughts.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
We've got some thoughts.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
But first I just want to give a quick shout
out to the bravest one in the world right now,
a woman called Denise Welch. Now if you don't know
that name, first of all, she's a famous woe in
her own right. She's an actress, she's a talk show host,
but I think she's more well known now as the
mother of Mattie Healy, the lead singer of the nineteen
seventy five. So Denise does a lot of talk show
(01:09):
guesting and hosting, and recently she went on and watched
What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and she got asked
a question that I feel like anyone else would have
shied away from, but instead she kind of went all in.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Miss Swift wrote a whole album about their relationship, Tortured
Poets Department. What was your reaction to that album?
Speaker 5 (01:29):
Obviously on Pain of Death can I talk about that episode?
But not being her mother in law is a role
that I I am glad that I lost, not that
I have anything against her at all. It was just,
you know, it was tricky, but she listen, you're not
allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole
(01:50):
album you know about it. Mattie has taken it.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
All in completely good grace.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
He's very happy with him, his amazing fiance, Gabriella Gabriete,
who is gorgeous, and so we've moved on.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Okay, I completely understand where she's coming from, because there
are certain stars who have fan bases that are so
all hands in that you cannot say a single word negative,
like on Pain of Death, like you will be crucified.
(02:23):
So what understand where she's coming from there. Unfortunately, what's
happened is it's been clipped and people are going, oh,
she's so glad to not be Taylor Swift ye mother
in law, and so then we get these very click
baity articles about how it makes it sound so much
more nefarious than it actually is.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
It would have been so much worse if she hadn't
say anything or she shied away from it. But I
think she also just wanted to get like a little
not a dig in, but a little just comment on
the unfairness of it, because I feel like when Taylor
Swift and Manny Heal you were together and how much
you were like following the fandoms of the time, but
there were those photos of them that came out like
paparazzi shots and then the idea they were like mouthing
(03:05):
I love you to each other, like back and forth
in their concerts, but her fans were like pretty upset
about the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Taylor is, I think one of those people that loves
hard and loves very fully any relationship that she's been in,
and she's had criticisms about this, which I think sometimes
is rooted in misogyny, But she loves fully, She loves
her PDA, she loves her men, and she really does
pour that, whether it's a breakup or love into her music,
(03:32):
which she has every right to do. But I think, yes,
there is a bit of a double standard because.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Sometimes when people do talk about her, all they get
is the Taylor backlash. And I can tell you right
now I'm shaking in my boots here because I don't
want to say anything too negative, not that I have
anything negative to say about Taylor. I think she's like,
I don't want to be involved in the drama of that,
rather than Taylor Swift is a terrible person.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I don't want to be her mother in law.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I think it's more that I think Denise does want
to be involved in the drama.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
I'll just say that.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
But here's again, Manny Healin said a few things like
there was a time on stage where he was like,
I'm the best singer of myne generation. You would call
me a poet And that was like obviously a nod
to Tortured Poets Department, because that is the most relatable
thing that Taylor Swif has ever done, is that she
was in that relationship with Joe Alwen for like over
six years. People think they were secretly married. I feel
like maybe the thing about them maybe having a ceremony
(04:26):
is true. I feel if they were secretly married. There
would be a certificate somewhere. And that's the only thing
Tree Paint, her very famous publicist, has really gone hard
on is that they weren't married. But I think that's
the most relatable thing is that she made this whole
album and there's like a little bit about Joe in there,
but mostly it was about this situationship that she had
with Matti Heely.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Think about like Pete Davidsonain when he did that whole
stand up routine.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
He's like a roan.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
I can say whatever she wants about May and I
say something and I'm a complete asshole. Like it's I
think it's a really challenging thing, particularly when you're both
in the public eye and correct me if I'm wrong.
But Matti Heally is a significantly smaller star than Taylor Swift,
who is going to have a lot more feedback, you know.
I don't think she was out of line here. I
(05:10):
think I think that it probably was taken out of context.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
It was the bit where she said like that's a race,
I'm glad I'm lost, or like she said that's kind
of phrasing because it was just like she's like, I'm
taking my hat out of the ring. I just love
how much she always takes the opportunity to talk about
how much she loves Gabriette, which is Maddie Healy's new fiance,
which I would say I love Gabriette as well, Like
she is the girl of my moment. She's like the
ultimate cool girl. She's moved into acting now. And it
was actually Denise that Let's slip. Did you see this
(05:37):
one happened? Denise Let's slip that they are engaged. She
just said it on her talk show and just put
it out into the world talking about the black Diamond
engagement ring. And then I think interesting thing is like
in that moment Andy Commen, she brought it back to
Gabriette and how much she loves her.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
So she's just a Gabriette fangirl.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
But this is also the thing. It's the mother in
law trope.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
I mean the amount of things that I've seen about
like mother in law's hating their daughter in laws and
you know, estrangements of parents and things like that, Like
the mother in law daughter in law relationship can be
really really challenging, particularly if the son and I'm talking
about a like heterosexual relationship here between a matter woman
(06:15):
like mother in law has a son, it can be
very hard, especially if the mother is like really obsessed
with their son. You know, we get that kind of
very uncomfortable relationship. So you want your mother in law
to like you, and clearly Gabriette has one that at all.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah, she really has.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
It's kind of funny because people think that Donna Kelcey
doesn't like Taylor Swift, or at least they used.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
To, because there was a while there.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Every time Donna Kelsey went on a talk show, which
I guess she's got two famous sons. She was already
doing the talk show round, but I feel like there
was an increased demanded her when Taylor and Travis satted dating,
and every time they asked about Taylor, she was like
that it was fine.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
I don't have any memory of it. It was fine.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Just to sum this up, I don't feel bad at
all for Mattie Healy that he feels he couldn't express
his side of the breakoup.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
He's fine.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Also, as soon as this.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Andy Collin clip came out, an anonymous source was like
in the weeds of the tabloids, whether it's a real
source or not. But going to us weekly and saying
things like, you know, Maddie wishes Taylor all the best,
but he doesn't want to speak on this anymore. And
Denise feels that her son, if it was real, someone
was doing extra damage control in the background. So again,
I don't feel bad for Mattie Healy, but I kind
(07:22):
of feel a bit bad for Denise because I feel
like she was silenced at the moment where she wanted
to jump into the fray and she's only having her
moment now.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
I just want to finish this by saying that I
love my mother in law, so one.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Clip that put it out into the world so that
we don't have any trouble in this house. And I
would like to say I love Denise Welsh.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
So this past weekend, one of my favorite couples, g
Flip and Krischelle were newe. I'm just gonna call her
Crischelle because I feel like she's just a one name.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Yeah, well, someone else in the world called Kroschelle. You
know how she got the name Kroschelle?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Right?
Speaker 1 (07:56):
No, so it's her middle name, I think, But it's
because her mother went into labor behind a shell service station.
This is a true story. I mean, I wasn't there,
but this is what Michelle says. And the man with
service station was Chris, and he came out and helped
deliver the baby behind the service station. So Chris and
Michelle Rochelle Okay, it was her middle name, but now
(08:19):
she goes by Kroschelle.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
It's like my friend that was born in May and
her name's May.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
That is not the.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
It's not even close to being the same unless she
was born behind a McDonald's and a Sarah delivered her
and her name is like mcdonald'sar Like, it's not ending.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
So j Flip and Rochelle renewed their vowels in this
very over the top medieval themed wedding. Now, the two
of them got married back in twenty twenty three, so
it wasn't that long ago. And you know, Chrischelle's in
this beautiful like white horseted gown and g Flip is
the night and shining armor.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
It looked like a really fun party.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
But it got me thinking about the curse of the
vowel renewal. So g Flip says, I think it's really
healthy and it's good to update your vows every year.
They said, I think it makes you stronger, looking your
person in the eyes and promising them new things every year.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
So they're going to do this every year? That did
they not plan? I did not get that vibe from
their first wedding.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
So they've already had four different ceremonies.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I mean, were the first few around their first wedding. R.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Yeah, so they've been married two years, so it'd be
two vowl renewals and then two I think probably around
when they initially got married. I understand what they're saying,
I really do. I appreciate the desire to share your
love for your partner and share it with friends, but
there is a curse.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I love a curse by it beware. I was doing
some research on this. There were divorce attorneys who were
writing articles on beware doing the vowel renewal. Psychologists talking
about just be careful about the vow renewal, and it
kind of really got me thinking about what is it
(10:13):
about it? And let's talk about some of the other
couples that have gone through this. Heidi Klomb and Seal
also did it every year.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
And theirs were like quite opulent and over the top.
I feel like Heidi Klomb has potentially like taken the
creativity and the kind of showmanship that she put into
her vowur remunles, and she's moved that over to her
Halloween costumes. Because I feel like that for a while there,
it was like, what's the theme of their new wedding
going to be and their vow renual because it would
be like on the side of a cliff that it'd
be an ocean, that'd be a flower guarded.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
They had a white trash shamed one, and they.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Did the ice one like in an igloot. I think
that was my favorite one.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
I mean, it looks like a lot of fun, and
I appreciate the spectacle of it, like it looks like
a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
They did that every single year.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Then in twenty fourteen, up to nine years they divorced,
and Seal actually says that the public vower renewals was
actually more Heidi Clomb's idea than I think. That's clear,
but you're probably right. Probably did go into the Halloween parties,
but she's been doing these Halloween parties all the time.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
But I feel like the just some of the pent
up creativity that she had is now gone fully into
the Halloween stuff. And the woman likes to put on
a show, and I love that for her.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Honestly, it's like one of my bucket list items is
to go to a Halloween. Yeah, and just when I
interviewed her, it actually asked and she did invite me,
but I never really got it in the mail.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
So it feels like.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
A real still waiting Heidi.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
If I would have followed that up for sure, because
I remember when Heidi, Clem and Seel were doing those
big because remember it wasn't just the vowur in your
but there was always all the photos they often had
like a.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Mag deal with it. I just remember thinking that was
the most romantic thing ever until now I'm looking at
it with more mature, dead in the heart eyes.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Nick Lache Jessica Simpson renewed their vows in two thousand
and four during the whole newlywed thing.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
They just split one year later in two thousand and five.
I've got more for you.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
And there were more factors at play in for Nick
and jess I'm just gonna say, I watch newly Weds,
I know what's going on.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
I'm not just saying that this is the reason that
people get divorced, but I'm just saying there is a
bit of a pattern here Chris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner.
Now again, obviously there are more issues with this. They
got married in nineteen ninety one, they had a hour
renewal in twenty eleven on keeping up with the Kardashians,
and then after twenty years of marriage, which actually I
(12:34):
think is kind of one of the only times where
I'm like, maybe that's okay after twenty years.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Oh yeah, after twenty years, that doesn't count. They've done
the leg work.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Then, But then they divorced three years later. But obviously,
again we know there are a lot more deep reasons.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
They also had to pump out quite a lot of
storylines for that show. It's why they were always like
doing pranks and doing all these bits and pieces. They
needed to fill those time slots.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
So and then we've got Madonna and Guy Ritchie.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Again, I feel like other existing problems that they kind
of hated each other.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
And one hundred percent there are existing problems.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
But I think what my point is here that the
outward spectacle can sometimes be seen as a way to
maybe put a band aid on pre existing problems. If
we do this, if we do this big public spectacle,
then maybe those problems won't seem so big. And again,
maybe I'm projecting here and I'm not saying all people
(13:25):
who do val renewals are going to end up. But
there's so many articles on it, and it was like
one after another after another, Tory Spelling and Dean McDermott,
come an Electra and Dave Nafarro. Again, there are definitely.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Issues beyond that.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Yeah, but I think it's the.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Public display of affection.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
And maybe it's just because I'm not like a big
public display of affection personal.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
The thing that people isn't the whole thing of like
the experts say as well, is like the more you
see a couple posts on social media and the longer
their captions are and the more photos they post each other,
the worse shape their relationship is.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
In well, the amount of times I've seen people being like,
I love this person so much and then like a
month later the divorced. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
I always if like the constant vowl renewals and opulent
weddings just came for celebrities because you have so much
money to throw around, so you're kind of always thinking like, oh,
we could just throw money at this, we could throw
money at that and everything's a lot easier. And then
for the real life people like their version of that
was like I could post twenty photos to Instagram, but
they're coming from the same place.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Why not do just like a huge anniversary party, Like,
why do we have to call it a vow renewal?
Why don't we just do like an anniversary party. Also,
let's take the celebrity out of it. Imagine one of
your friends who got married, and every year they invited
you to avour renewal ceremony.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
When they had better be paying and I better not
have to wear a costume or a color. You know
what's the worst thing we want your friends to getting married?
They're like, we're all wearing pink to this one, and
then we're wearing yellow skirts and green tops and blue
shoes to this one and then this And I was like,
you know what, So happy for you, but also don't
make me go to weird places and buy weird outfits.
I feel like, if you're throwing a dinner to celebrate
(15:07):
your love, it definitely invite me.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Yeah, and maybe don't expect to get Wow.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Everyone's bringing a gift to these vow I feel like
just in defensive Heidi Clone and seals vow renewals, which
I never knew I knew so much about, but I
feel like I could write a thesis on this. I
feel like, especially as the kids got older, it was
just them and the kids, so at least someone was
being put out. But you don't your theory of like
the vour renual curse reminds me of have you seen
the Vogue to Divorce?
Speaker 2 (15:31):
I love that, Oh my god, I love And that's
actually what reminded me of it. I absolutely love the
Vogue to Quickie Divorce time. I can't remember her name.
I wish I remember her name. She's on TikTok. She's amazing,
and she knows all the deep dives.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
So she's traced every big Vogue fancy wedding to all
the ones that end in Quickie divorces.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
And it's a staggering amount of this.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
A staggering amount. That's actually where I got the inspiration
for the.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Really okay love that I just feel really bad. So
the amount of people that we know listen to this
show on their cars on the way home. The amount
of like mostly women, I'm assuming, sitting their cars right
now clenching their steering wheels because they have to have
a call with their vow renual planner after this, or
they've just posted a dump of photos they instrum at
their partner, just like with the fear of God.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Into their hearts. And I just want to say, guys,
you might be fine. It's fine.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
And this is absolutely nothing against Kroshelle and g Flip.
I love them. I think they they look really happy.
I love g Flip.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Their cover of Cruel Summer is one of my all
time favorites. I think they're an amazing performer. I love Kroschelle,
I love their relationship. I wish them all the best.
It just when it was like every single year we're
going to do it, I was like, maybe don't.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Because you don't want to like piss the marriage.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
God's off and we're just saying like sometimes you will
get history and we don't have to change our lives
or just pick up a few hints. Yes, so I'm saying,
but if anyone is having Igloo vowel renewal, I can't
stress this enough.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Please invite me. I just really want to see someone
get married in Igloo.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
I want to go to a Medieva one.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Yeah, oh my god, invite us to that too. I
feel like we've got ourselves off the guess but we
can't stress enough. If you're having a really wild themed
our renual, please invite us.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
So now we need to move on to the business
side of this podcast.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
And talk about a young, scrappy entrepreneur who's just trying
to make his way in the world, and that is
one Harry Styles and.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
His brand new business venture which is not new music.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
No.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
When our ip Georgie dropped this link in our channel,
she was like, well, Harry Styles do anything but release
new music, and the answer is potentially yes. In santasy
to him. He's had this lifestyle brand called Pleasing for
quite a few years. It started with nail polishers, which
I thought was quite and that is how they say it.
I feel my Harry Style, this just became a very
(17:47):
different podcast. Mom. We have to put when one put
him behind a paywall and you have to show idea
to get in. So he came out with Pleasing. He
started with nail polishes, which I think is actually like
a good business deal for him because he wears now
polishes and you won't believe how many celebrities launch products
that they have no business launching because they've never touched them.
I'm not naming names, but Brad Pitt in his skincare
(18:08):
line no business doing that.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
So yeah, actually don't. I'm not gonna say, well, we're.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Gonna say his skin doesn't look good.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
He's skin isn't Like I wouldn't look at his skin
and be like, yeah right, Petfield skin girl's been.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Using Repino Like I don't. I don't look at redspitskin
and I love your skin.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
I maybe do.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
He's like, he's so hot.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
He's so hot, but I was only sixteen. He's still hot.
But can I say he's not because he's using skincare.
He's just been.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
It's just because he's like in his path life, like
sacrificed a baby or something to get those genes. Anyway,
Harry Styles then his company moved on to launch and
lots of other lifestyle things, and his latest thing is
a new sex toy. So it's called the Pleasing Double
Sided Vibrator. It's gonna be priced at one hundred and
ten US dollars in case anyone is just budgeting for
(18:56):
the next few months and wants to allocate their fun money.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Look at us like giggling like school girls. We can
talk about sex toys. Guys, we're all adult women in here.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
No, no, this sex toy thing isn't funny. It's just
something about Harry Styles because he's just like a little
imp of a man like I don't think he's real.
He's like Leprecorn who broke free and accidentally.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Became a musician. That's why I just find this really funny.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Can I say he hasn't made the vibrator alone, because
there's been some people saying that he's dipping into an
area he doesn't know about and he should have got
a professional in. But he did.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
He did get a professional in, so sex educator and
founder of Sex Positive Spectrum boutique Zoey Ligon. Yeah, so
look he's done this in go hoes and the vibrator
also comes with some lubricant.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Yes, And we should say Zoe's professional nickname is the
Dildo Dutchess, So I feel like we can trust her
because I feel like she's earned that nickname. We have
a few details about the vibrator. It's going to be
a double sided vibrator and in the words of the
Pleasing company, it's designed with exploration in mind, which is nice.
It's double ended. It's to encourage users to use like
(19:59):
the insertible bribe beta part. And then it comes with lube,
which comes in a sleek burgundy bottle. I don't know
why that's important to point out. I guess burgundy was
like the last big color of the summer and they're
trying to show that irrelevant.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
You are a big Burgundy fan too.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
I love Burkeerdy, so maybe I'll be super interested.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
You know what, Laura, this would go perfectly with your wardrobe,
really would.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Can I tell you something so sad? Pleasing ships to Australia,
but this particular vibrator at the moment is not shipping
to Australia.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Okay, can I just tell you something as well? Because
of the voltage. There's a voltage.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
The sounds so important for people to know there is.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
A voltage issue.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
So a lot of the times when you have like
electrical products in Australia, the voltage doesn't quite work in
the US.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
I don't know what the exact details are. I'm sure
someone will tell me. Okay, I'm going to describe it.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
I feel like, if there's anything you want, like a
safety restriction around, it's the voltage of a vibrator because
it's not like a lamp.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
You don't want this to be some man, Sir Jones
would say that thing will burn your flit off.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah, and I feel like, yeah, again, we don't want
this is a bit of a naughty but fine at
the end of the show.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
So it kind of looks like your classic.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Yeah, please describe it. Paint.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Paint is a word picture. I feel, well, again, here's
the thing I want to know. I'm not asking because
I'm like, oh, how vibrates are hilarious, because they're not.
I'm more thinking like there's so many on the market,
and there's so many like different ones out there, Like
what is this man doing to his vibrator besides whacking
his name on it?
Speaker 3 (21:25):
So look, I said, I took a couple.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
Of girls in the office and I did office hr before.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
You went around and ask people about vibrators.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
So this is Mom and Maya.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
We're right to talk abounch vibrators.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
And it doesn't look like anything too sort of out there.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
If you think about like your classic Hitachi vibrator, which
kind of los a microphone.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
I would say, like a classic microphone. It kind of
looks like that. It looks nice, it looks compact.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
I wouldn't say there's anything particularly like revolutionary about it.
Zoe says, I love this one because it's rumbling motions
are powerful and deep, yet it's compact enough and use
easily with a partner or alongside other toys.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Plus it's just dang cute.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
I feel like I'm getting really read and I'm not
like a very I'm not like a like a big prude,
but I think z is just like going everywhere.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
I'm getting all right, And again we're charging eighteen ninety
five to listen to the rest of this episode Lustered.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
But I think that this guy knows his audience.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Oh yeah, or someone on his team has thought about.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
This, yeah, and like you don't think about Harry's styles.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
And I really do love the way that he has
kind of taken masculinity and shifted it. And you know,
when he did the whole shoot with the dresses and
things and people like, that's not a real moan, it's
like hyper masculine men and he just doesn't care. But
I feel like he knows his audience, he knows his women,
and he's not afraid to I don't know many other
(22:54):
men that would be like, I'm going to launch a
vibrators specifically for women. I mean, he could have launched
something for men, but to put at the forefront female
pleasure and femininity in that sense, I think really works
within his brand, Like he's not afraid to express a
different way of masculinity.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
It's not this hyper I'm a big dude, Like I
could do it myself. I don't need to go or
use a vibrator and all.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
You know, it's none of that, which I think can
sometimes that really hypo machismo vibe can be really toxic.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
But he has really leant into this is look at
me dissecting a vibrator.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Oh I'm literally but I do think that, And that's
kind of why this particular story spoke to me, because
twenty years.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Ago you never would have seen that. You know, we
say this is not what a real man is.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
But yeah, I can tell you the women in.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
The office were like, bravo, Harry Styles.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Yeah. I think it's a clever thing for him to
touch his name too. I also feel like he did
the legwork.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Like any other male celebrity just putting out a vibrator,
it would be kind of seen as maybe like a
bit cheesy, a bit of a money grab, But I
think Harry Styles has done the legwork with like even
like everything he's about, like watermelon sugar and like the
mere being behind that song and the importance to him.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
But also it's part of his age persona.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Like out of all the musicians who have like toured
those big stadium shows recently, he's the one who does
the most crowd work, like it's built into his show,
and so much of that is him, like reading signs
and like doing a little eyebrow twitch or making like
little jokes and like kind of playing with all that
sort of stuff. So a vibrator is like a little
non to his audience that go to see him just
for the crowd work.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
I would much rather him do that than like a
cast of his anatomy and selling that.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
I mean, I didn't even think of that. I thought
that would have been a better seller.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
Right.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Likely porn starles and stuff used to do that and
still do.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
I'm not sure a lot what the market is like,
but I know that used to be a thing that
different vibrators would be from different people. This is the
first time I really thought about like sex toy, market chair, yeah,
and like overexposure in saturation. But I guess it's it's
an interesting topic. But that used to be big thing,
and I wonder if someone on his team was like,
let's just pull.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
That back a little bit.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Lad he would do anything like that.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
He loves to kind of play in that space, I
think releasing the sex toy. And also remember when he
was doing the sleep meta citations and Harry Styles could
talk you to sleep? That went gangbusters. And again, I
know a lot of people use sleep apps. What was
the idea that Harry Styles would talk.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
You to sleep? I have friends who, like years on
now can only fall asleep to the sound of Harry Styles.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
And now they can fall asleep to Harry Styles in.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
A very different way, or wake up to Harry Styles,
or take a lunch break with Harry Styles. Just it
writes himself. I should say too, he's donating some of
the proceeds to I think it's planned parents.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Planned parenthood, and that is actually very so He's done
the work into this.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Now we feel about obviously, no It's not like he's.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Just whipped out something and gone chicks dig this will.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
He's worked with a sex therapist, he's donating portions to
Planned Parenthood.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
And apparently the next thing they're going to do is condoms,
which are going to have also a portion of the money.
It's what you're trying to be, like, real serious, to
be like, oh, it's so nice the charity element. But
also now he's just gone the full sex toy realm.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
But look, I love that for him.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
I actually just think he's tapped into his brand, he's
tapped into his audience.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Bravos And again we can't get in Australia, so if
