Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Wiggles acknowledge the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia
and their connections to land, see and community. We pay
our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Ho Ho ho, everybody.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Welcome to Wiggle Talk, a Christmas edition. It's a podcast
for parents. My name is Lockie and I am in
my slightly tight Christmas shirt from a few years ago.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Hello Simon, Hello Locky. Yeah, my name's Simon and I'm
in the standard red T shirt. I'm not up to
the this is Christmas? Is it the shirt of your well?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
I always like to go to Maya every Christmas.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Really No, maybe not so much. My look at the windows.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
No, just no, that too. But just get a party
shirt for the season. It's a seasonal I haven't done
it yet. This is specific to Christmas. It's just holiday
seasonal party shirt.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yeah, this was in their shop. I should have shamed
and get the memo.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I should have told you. I think it's quite good
and you look excellent. Doesn't match my silver Christmas hat,
but you're looking very good in red red tinsel.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Thank you. You've got your gold tinsel too much? Yeah,
we've got the piano here too. We've got a piano.
We've got you brought in some wonderful mince pies.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Do you like a fruit mince pie?
Speaker 2 (01:22):
You I do. I'm relieved you've brought them in there.
We get that memo either.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
We want to surprise you. We won't eat into the microphone,
but we will have to have one.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I'm going to have to Oh yeah, absolutely quite hungry.
Yeah yeah, we've got crackers Christmas crackers. What do you
call them? A bond? Should we save that for?
Speaker 3 (01:39):
We got Elf on the shelf, helf on the neon.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yes, Elf on the neon is. And we've got a
very special guest. We do it's well plays in lok.
We've got a keyboard, Police Navy done, Police Navvy done.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Johnny and nips Yeah, hey John wiggle, Hey, Hey, what
an interview Mary?
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Christmas? Merry Christmas. You know why we sing Felice Navy
Dad for John is Last year John did a video
for socials of Felice Navy Dad before Christmas, and no
one really cared about it before Christmas at all. Nothing happened.
But on the fourteenth of January, yes, the video went viral.
Tral we don't know hundreds of millions of views. Yeah, yeah, can.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
We just say this was in a hallway in Townsville
Entertainment Center.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Wasn't it.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
We filmed it as a bit of content. But so
something something in my throat? Would you like some water
from the throat?
Speaker 2 (02:40):
I just turned into Darren Locke.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
You.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
I just want to say, so fourteenth of January, what
happens in the fourteenth of January? Because that song did
go super viral and it was clocking like ten million
views a day on YouTube shorts and we filmed it,
you know, the backstage it was Townsville I Entertainment Center
and it was just something fun that we shot I
think actually sent through you know, can you just quickly
film this song just for grabs, a high grab tours
(03:04):
around it never just popped in with scooters and a
whole bunch of fun And yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
I don't know why, you're very good hips out.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Now we don't know why, but it could be something
to do with the hips. Yeah, basically dance. Have you
seen it?
Speaker 4 (03:19):
But yeah, so if you'll look it up, just hopefully
list the first clip that pops up will just be
me doing this nice and wholesome with my arms and
then just a bit of rhythm with the hips.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
But Johnny, we'll marry Christmas. Johnny, thanks for coming in
chatting with us today. Nice is good. Yeah, we've brought
the Christmas cheer lock. He's got his party shirt on
and so Johnny, we got you in today. Because I
know Henry was born on the sixteenth of December, so
technically he has had a first Christmas, but he's now
one year old and this is maybe his first Christmas
(03:52):
where he starts to become a little bit more aware
of what's going on. Have you been chatting to Henry
like it's Christmas is coming and all that kind of thing,
sort of keeping under wrap.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Still, Well, we're really excited, first of all, because you know,
Henry can see color this Christmas, and he does like
lights and shiny things, and he's really responding to music
now and starting to dance. So that's something I really
excited to celebrate with him. Dress him up and put
him in his little Santa hat, dress him up like
a little elf, and you know, we're super excited for that.
(04:21):
But we're really not anxious about putting up the Christmas
tree because he's really grabby. He's grabbing a lot of
things and putting things down with a sandbag. How we're
going to do this one?
Speaker 2 (04:31):
But yeah, I was trying to think Asher was the same.
He used to grab everything. I think we had a
smallest tree, so if it all came tumbling down, which
I'm sure it did, it wasn't too bad. But all
the the grabby things at the bottom were kind of
just papery things and stuff that it didn't really matter.
All the weren't the glass bables and things and like, ho.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Do you stop them from opening gifts if you've got
gifts under the tree and things like that.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
This year, we've just got a puppy, so we're going
to have to do the white puppy gate around the
whole tree. Yeah, you could do it again. Eight for
a crawl safegate.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Nice little fence, little fence, ticket fence.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Maybe we had a whole fence in our apartment when
Ash started moving around, and we called it because it
looked like a prison, we called it the castle, just
to be more you know, more uplifting about going on.
And to this day Ash's playroom, he still calls it
a castle. That's great, yea, But it really was a prison.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Better than a prison, a prison around your Christmas under tree.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Just for those audience members who might not know we're
talking about Henry.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Or one year old the Octopus. No, no, not the octopus.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Yes, yes, Henry's yeah, one year old son, because he
was born this time last year, just before we did Carols.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah, so last year we did have a first Christmas
with Henry, but you know, he was like a blob,
like you know, the first week, but you know, they're
just looking around, their eyes are kind of googling. It
was fun for us, we remember, but he definitely doesn't remember.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Will there be presents for Henry? Like, are you talking
about Santa? You're talking about those kind of things with
regards to Christmas Henry. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
I think it's probably still early too for him to
understand what Sanda is and things like that. He does
watch a lot of the Wiggles Christmas episodes and he
does respond to Santa. But my dad is quite old,
he's nearly ninety four, and he's really scared of him.
So every time I bring Henry to go visit him,
he starts crying. So I'm really worried that if we
do take him to actually go see Santa, you know,
the shopping center, and you take photos that he's going
(06:21):
to either cry or he'll laugh.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
I don't know the response from my dad, I don't know.
I'm the same cry or laugh one or the other.
So do you think you do the Santa photo? I
think so. I think we will. People still put their
children on Sander's lap. We haven't. We just sat as
the family next to Santa. I think some photos still
still do. If you, I think we would like it's
(06:43):
actually quite frightening.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Yeah, yeah, you can understand.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
It for you bear to hand you over to a y. Yeah,
it's scary. It is scary, but we'll try. We'll try
the lap first, otherwise I'll sit on the lap.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
As a family, growing up, did you have many Christmas traditions?
Speaker 4 (07:08):
We had a simple Christmas, Like we grew up with
not much like circumstance and things like that. Me and
my brother and younger brother and sister. We really believed
in Santa Claus and that was kind of like the
magic beyond Christmas because we didn't have much. We didn't
have much toys or whatever, and that was like our
one hope of like, oh we might get what we
want this time. So that was Christmas for us in
a nutshell, you know, watching the carols and domain and
(07:29):
staying up late on Christmas Eve and putting up the
Christmas lights. So that was kind of the tradition. I
always wanted to decorate our whole house with Christmas lights
like in the Grinch, Like you always wanted to be
that house that everyone would go and take photos in
front of. But yeah, we never did.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
That could be a tradition that you could start.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Already knows where we live. Everyone was already plenty at
our house.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
That is the thing.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
But there are some I remember in Brisbane there are
some amazing it's next level the organization, but they would
set up yeah, the Christmas for there lights everywhere.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
But it's quite a thing.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
But it's beautiful the community it made, but also just
the feeling you had walking around this particular house.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
But you could do that later. And I've got horrified
recently because we moved house recently and I saw a
friend of mine who also lives in the same suburb,
and I said, oh, we've moved. We moved to this
street and she goes, that's the street that does go
Halloween I'm like, oh, no, that street where they shut
(08:30):
the street down the police are there cream. But it wasn't.
Thankfully it didn't. It was the street street street. But
I panicked. That's a good question to ask the real estate.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Agent if you're the only house in the street that
doesn't do that, humbug.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yeah, you got to get into it, because I wouldn't
be not a Christmas lights guy inside or put up
a tree, but I'm not.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Just keep it subtle inside not the ladder.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, you know at the front, Paul Paddock is Captain
Featherswood gets them. Does he do that? Does he do that?
He puts him out? Yeah, he's he's on the roof,
on the hedge everywhere. Ye that. I think he does
it in March because he's such a time fascist. Make
sure he doesn't miss out he gets Johnny. Would you
(09:19):
would you pull my bond? Bob?
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Yeah, don't please, don't take it all.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Excuse me? Oh you give enough group you have that.
I think you pull that.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
You're still snapper.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
There we go, Simon, would you would you like to
do I'll give you a bond.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
And I'll pull maybe a big stroll lockie. There you go.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
What's We've already got our hats on. We can't wait?
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Hat? Are you winning every time? Lucky? That's okay. We've
got a joke. I've got a hat.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Yes, I've got a joke, A proper dad joke.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
I reckon. This is the worst gift ever. What did
you get? That's quite good?
Speaker 3 (09:59):
It's a there's a couple of the pages.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
What is that.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Notebook for you? It's a notebook. It's it's Christmas messages?
Is there a joke? I've got a joke. That's the joke,
isn't it there? There is no joke.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
You've got to dig deeper.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
All right. Let me start this off.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
What did Cinderella say when her photos didn't arrive on time?
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Not again? I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Hold on a minute, where's the answer?
Speaker 2 (10:33):
I don't know What did cinder E say when her
photos didn't arrive on time? One day?
Speaker 4 (10:37):
My prince will come.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Oh, prince, how did you not see the air? There's two? Oh,
there's two answers. I think there's what is risky? I've
got one. What happened when the snow girl fell out
with the snow boy?
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Snow girl fell out with the snow boy?
Speaker 2 (11:01):
She gave him the cold shoulder.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
That's too serious, all deep, All right, mum, this is
a comment. Mum, can I have a dog for Christmas?
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Are you asking for question?
Speaker 4 (11:13):
No?
Speaker 2 (11:14):
You can have a turkey like everyone else. What does
a mouse, a mole, and a shark have in common?
A mouse, not a fin. This isn't funny at all.
All of their babies are called pups. So that's actually
reading's a joke at a factor? Get it?
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Explain it the question, your fact? You want to hear
the fact? In the Christmas Carol, what line follows hark
the Herald's angels sing.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Angel singing glory to the new born King? Yes, thank you?
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Speaking of speaking of Carol's, what about this one? Everybody,
simo please?
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Dreaming of white Christmas? Trying to go the other bit
with every Christmas card I write, mayor ds be merry
and bru and may all your Christmases be white? Barry White?
(12:36):
Who was talking about before? Oh? Yeah, so if I
think of a Christmas song, that's the first song that
comes in my head. When I grew up, the first
album I ever bought when I was young was a
singer called burl Ives exactly Burl Eyes was well, and
that song was on the album. I think my grandparents
(12:58):
used to play Burleye and I was obsessed with it.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
More of a classical voice, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Kind of croonery, classical kind of voice. Old school, very
old school obviously. And yeah, Burl Eyves was the first
album I got. The second album I got was Suzi
Quatro's devil Gate Drive. Who's that? Did burl Ives do it?
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Because Anto for our last album asked you to do
like a Barry White spoken bit and White Christmas?
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Did burl Lives do a spoken Yeah? I'm pretty sure
he did the breakdown. I'm pretty sure he did. Yeah,
that's very good, Simon, thank you for that. Was what
about you Christmas Christmas moves?
Speaker 4 (13:39):
Felicia Navidad was yeah yeah, no, like you know, jingle bells,
all the traditional kids stuff.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Have you got Christmas music playing in the house now? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (13:49):
I actually play the Wiggles Christmas album.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
So we're just actually quite a good alb it is.
It is eisting, and.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
For me it feels like Christmas because when I joined
the Wiggles, We're do being that reminds me of Christmas
time and when I was singing that song and we're
dancing for carols and domain for the first time.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
It is a great song. So that's it. I was
about to say boys to men, but that's not Did
Justice Crew do Christmas?
Speaker 4 (14:12):
No, we did the carols, we did Santa Claus Coming
to Town. But yeah, we didn't do any Christmas albums
or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
No, we didn't really think like albums. We were doing
singles and singles and things like that.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
So you put them all together half an album. Your
dad would have been playing Deep Purple. Did they ever
do a Christmas? Deep Purple did a Christmas album?
Speaker 3 (14:33):
But we had you know those Donald was talking about
the other day, like the classic easy for piano Christmas
books that I would just play kind of leading up
to Christmas. So there was there was music in the house.
But this is when I was living with my dad
and my brothers. But now I remember every Christmas and
it's a great memory. My granddad had an old organ
(14:54):
at his place that only.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
At Christmas time when you play that, you know the.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
And I would see it right next to him on
the seat, and he played every Christmas. I only just
remembered that and it was so I think, so I
love piano so much, but he would play it every
year and he played the same tune, but it just
had that amazing sound because it was an organ. But Christmas,
I love Christmas music, I think, I mean you can't.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
I don't think you can get a better song than Go.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
To Go and here Come the Reindeer, especially when you
see everyone up at Carol's. This just ignites the crowd.
And when do we do them every year? Fun to
perform too, but yeah, Christmas music is beautiful.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Have you got one you love to sing? Maybe you
could give us a little rendition now.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Or having kids, they every time we listen to this one. Now,
I won't give the hint away, but it goes to
something like this, you know, Dasher and Dancer, Hotel, Christmas
Done and Blitzen and hang on. You know, Dash, you
(15:58):
threw me so sorry, you know, Dasher and Dancer and
Prancer and Vixen, Calmet and Cupid and Dinner and blitz
and now the kids to think I sing Dinna.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yeah, this has got to do with your addiction. Well no,
I see, we talk about this with the Gray and
the Red Elephant. This is the same. But that's that's common.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
And Cupid and what is Donna Donner and Blitz and
dinner and it's the exit, so Dona's in one of
the Reindeers.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
But I love that song.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Rude after Red Nose had a very shiny Yeah, that's nice.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Are you going away at all, Johnny? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:46):
So this year will be we leave in three days time. Yeah,
well yeah days just after Christmas, will be spending a
week in Fiji, so we'll go. Yeah, we'll go back
to the same place we went to when we went
on our moon.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
So what they Henry?
Speaker 4 (17:01):
Then?
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Oh wow, have the same fun outside the stumming. Yeah,
Christmas for you, You've got a big family, all different ages,
and Lenny's your twin who lives in Melbourne. Do you
get to catch up with Christmas or you kind of
do it sporadically over that.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Yeah, it's a bit scattered, like everyone does their own thing.
And my brother lives in Melbourne now and they kind
of have their own family going on too, so and
on my side, Jess, my wife has two sides of
her family that both have events as well as our
own family. So we kind of skip around, like we'll
do lunch on Christmas Eve and we'll have lunch on
Christmas Day and then dinner on Christmas Day, and yeah,
(17:38):
I'm not sure if I'll see my brother this Christmas,
but we talk every day, so it's it'd be great.
If it was in Sydney, we'd probably be joining one
of the lunches. But yeah, we just try to catch
up where we can. But it's a bit scattered. Lenny's
partner family in Melbourne, Yeah, they're.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
All down there. They're all Melbourne based, so yeah, it
gets tricky. I mean it's tricky the traveling around Sydney
or any state that you live in and going from
place to place. And thankfully my family very accommodating in
however it works. I'll catch up with my parents probably
maybe Christmas Eve because Christmas Day will be with more
Lauren's family, so we kind of just mix it up.
(18:11):
But it must be tricky if you've got families who
are kind of you must be with us on Christmas.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Yeah, yeah, and ess as family, they get together Christmas
Eve and they've got a big extended family, so they've
been doing that since they were kids, and all the
aunties and uncles and they host Christmas Eve and you
almost get when you start your own family you've got
to kind of break away and start doing your own
family traditions. And it's a bit hard to obviously, that's
what they remember, and that's nostalgic for them, and that's
something they do. But when you choose the right time
(18:35):
to start, you know, you've got to start building your
own family.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
And we start getting together. Yeah, that's right. Hard, but
you'll spend Christmas Eve with them. Yeah, we always stay. Yeah,
and then as Henry gets a bit older and everything
will start to change.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Hopefully gets brothers and sisters and then you know, my
brother moves back up and we can get together and
start our own little Yeah Christmas.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Do you think you move back to Sydney and something?
Speaker 4 (18:55):
I hope so it would be nice.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
What are you doing you our kids to grow up together?
What are you doing? I had great? He's Letny got
with DJ Lenny. You've been turning the US. It's unbelievable.
How well.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Yeah, he's doing so well. I'm super proud of him.
And it's been doing it for a long time and
I think it's long time coming and just stuck to it.
And yeah, he sold out across Americans.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Just got back. It's good. Two months over there. But
he's so talented. I mean, you both are. Isn't it
funny how if we've moved on for Christmas for a second,
but both Injustice Crew in the boy band, How even
both ended up in children's music. You would never have
ever predicted that one. No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
I think we're just open to opportunities and we don't
kind of put roadblocks in place. And we think if
things happen naturally and organically, you just got to kind
of go with it and trust the process. And you know,
I think the universe is a plan for everybody, and
you just got to something happens naturally, just follow it
and just follow your instincts. And I think we both
ended up doing children's music fantastic.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Is Santa coming for Henry?
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Santa Claus. Yeah, of course he's coming for Henry.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Yes, just for Henry.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
I'm to grab him. It's coming for you, Henry.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Ma'am your chimney.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
That's something I like chimneys too. We don't have a chimney,
no a fireplan.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
You just have to leave the door locked.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
You'll come through. Yeah, but we'll leave a present fan.
He might not understand. Now, he might understand next year
or the year after. When did they start understanding?
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Three? Four? Yeah, even too, Yeah, a bit more understand
the celebration and more. Each year Sander will come for
Asher and then we will give Asher some presents as well.
The other day he said to me, because we I've
mentioned this a million times now, we've just moved house
and in doing that we decided for the first time
ever to cull before we moved, and with the curl came.
(20:39):
There's a lot of toys, and so we went through
with Ash. You're saying, all right, it's time. Now there's
baby toys. There's toys you don't play with. They haven't
played with them for a year. We're going to pack
them up, put them in tubs. And then yesterday I said,
so what do you want to do with those toys?
And he said, I think we should go and give
them to Santa can deliver them to all all the
(21:00):
other children who need them. I said, oh, that's what
that's that's that's a beautiful thing to do. Actually, we
will definitely do that, and he said, yeah, because I've
never been to the North Pole before. When are we going?
I wasn't anticipating that. Yeah, physically, take the presence to Sander.
But so as his expectation is that we're going to
(21:21):
the North Pole to deliver the present. So you've got
a few days. Yeah, quote know how we'll get around
that one. But I thought that was a lovely, lovely thing.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Lapland is a nice place. So have you been to
Lapland the North Pole? No, we've been, and there's a
Santa's village that it's really cool. Wow, should actually take
him there? Yeah, the toys up quietly, somethee just brought
in your house? Yeah, and Lockie do the Lulu, Lottie
and Jasper? Do they give you presents that.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
I don't I think we just give ourselves. If no,
they don't, do they? I don't know. No, I'm not
sure they did it last year. Maybe they maybe they
might this year. Yeah. I mean they're not going to
go to the shops on their own, They're not.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
No, no, there, Yeah, there might be a few little
sneaky presents. Yeah, for mom and dad.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Yeah, gets me a present, rightne normally a transformer or
it's always something that he wants, right, But he gets
it for me. For Chris's right. He always tells me beforehand,
as he does with all of his friends. Whenever go
to a birthday party, he always tells them what he's
(22:27):
got them before he gives it to them, because he's excited.
Oh that's cute. It's better than socks and jocks. Well
it is. I mean, you know you have many bumblebees
or Optimist primes. We are going through a massive transformer stage. Optimist.
You'll go through all this with I can't wait. Henry
is he?
Speaker 4 (22:47):
I think he'll be into all that sort of garbage.
He actually started saying car and he be with a
little car. But he's into all that stuff, the action
figures and cars and things that rolling balls.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
He loves balls.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Oh the other day, bouncing balls that vegure might we
did Henry was watching sound check with Jess and his
face as soon as you did the.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Did you just run there?
Speaker 3 (23:08):
And as soon as you start, but before you even
get to the chorus, he was.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Like his arms flapping love every time, every time I
put it on on the TV. It's just that first bite.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Yeah, like he knows what's coming already. It's amazing. I
love it. A few years ago, when we were about
to do We're about to announce our Christmas show, End
of the year, big show that we do every year.
We're on one of the morning shows, and Anthony decided
to announce, which no one knew about, that there was
going to be snow at the show. He just decided
(23:46):
on them at that moment to say, what's going to
what's the point of difference, There's going to be snow.
There will be snow at the Wiggle Show. We'll look
at him going okay, And the Wiggle Show always starts
at the beginning of November, and so it felt too
soon to be doing Christmas songs and snow. But the
amount of complaints we got the first couple of shows
you did because there was no Christmas songs and no snow.
(24:09):
Yes and snow, just so you know, is detergent. That's right.
Then we get our snow for the next show, which
basically comes down in moist clumps. It's a bubble by
bubble bath onto the floor and so it doesn't actually
(24:30):
dissolve on your head or your hair, just kind of
sits there and then the floor. It was like a
basketball game where everyone had to come out with the
towels wiping on the floor because it was like an
ice skating rink. We didn't do that this year. No,
there was no mention of snow this year yet. Yeah,
no one, thankfully, But yeah, that was it was like
(24:54):
it was so so slippery.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
I remember going all over the keyboard too.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
It was everywhere, it went everywhere. And and also because
we we hadn't thought there were no fans, you should
have the snow coming down then fans blowing, yes, but
literally just poured down on top of us like we're
in the soap cycle and.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Just get white confetti. Is that messier?
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Well no, that would have well no, that would have been.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Been slippery too, But that's a good idea white little specks, yeah,
a little.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Glitter, white hair. The other thing that I always laugh
I think we have mentioned this before. What we definitely
have was Anthony it Carrol's and the domain being asked
to spell out Santa and he spelt out Satan. He
almost yeah, he stopped himself. Give give me dear. That's hilarious.
(25:52):
It's Christmas change for you now that you have had
a child.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
I like, obviously everything now is your focus is on
your child. Like everything we do, everything we think about
is just for Henry and whether he's going to enjoy
it or so we don't really think of ourselves as much.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Really, the priority has kind of changed.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
But now it's all about, you know, we want to
take him to go to the Christmas lights and make
sure he's having fun and playing bouncing balls and repeat,
just to get that response again. But yeah, that's kind
of the focus.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yeah, you go to the window, will you? On Instagram?
Probably if it looks good. Yeah, it does change. Years
ago I did. I don't know if they still do
it the Lights of Christmas. It's a Mary's Cathedral and
I wrote that story for the Lights of Christmas and
they do that whole light show on if they still
(26:38):
do it. It is a beautiful thing to go and
Seeah wow, okay, yeah, such a such a lovely, lovely
thing to do as a family to go there, and
there's always quiet singing, there's music playing.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
The Christmas eve or is that leading up?
Speaker 2 (26:50):
It's probably about ten days prior to Christmas, including a
couple of weeks prior. It's a really really lovely thing
to do.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Ye nice, Yeah, I all love that sort of stuff.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
A few Christmases ago, yes, it happened quite a few actually,
I made a festive Christmas drink really yes, rhymes with
sagrony the Christmas spirit. I thought, I'm going to make
one for my whole family, including grandparents. None of them
(27:19):
are drinkers, really, and I thought, this is easy. It's
just one one one.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Yeah, what what is? What isn't it is that? The
ratio of the ratio? And I did it?
Speaker 3 (27:32):
But the mistake shrum, No, no, what is it?
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Think it's that? Yes, it's quite, they're quite bitter. I
saw a jb.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Oliver Actually he made a spiced one. I think that's
because it had cinnamon, all these beautiful things and it
his looked great. But I made it and almost in
a beautiful family setting, almost instantaneously everyone had a sip
and like kind of spat it did?
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Was it? Was it a punch bowl scenario? Or you did?
Speaker 3 (28:11):
I did nice glasses with the round They last a
long laster.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Tried no one. Maybe you try a saparole ritz, try
a different way. I've got to go again, spiced, but yeah,
the spice that that did you, You've got to come back.
It's like we talk about resilience with children.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
I'm not going to give up. I might not offer
my whole family, whole family.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
A little test, do a little tester, a couple of
nights beforehand, separole rits. I should have done it. See,
we're hosting Christmas, right, and we got to the realization
that that meant that we had to provide the food.
(29:03):
And I never haven't cooked a turkey before. You're going hot? Well, yeah,
so that my family tradition was always just a tarp
over the hills, hoist and a couple of little decorations
and the salad, salad, potato cold, potato salad, everything cold.
But loss of family is more the hot lunch. So
I've had to order it all, yes, and I've ordered
(29:26):
way too much. I know that, right, But one turkey.
There's a fear. Yeah, when you're hosting that you don't
have enough food. There's a few turkeys coming. Have you
got a big enough oven? Well, this is the wonderful
thing about our new house. I think I've mentioned with
there's a couple of ovens. Do you really yeah, I
didn't know turkey in each one. Potato. Well, there is
(29:49):
a butler's pantry, which weirdly doesn't have an oven in it.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Does it have a butler for Christmas service?
Speaker 4 (29:55):
Well?
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Yeah, maybe No, there's no butler. But we've ordered a
it all in but there. I know there's way too
much for it, but you can get people. I'll get
a little takeaway containers and people can take it home.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Can I share a tip? I saw that I haven't
tried the turkey. Put it on a I mean you
might get a messy ice there, but put it on
a rack like with holes in it. Yeah, and then
underneath that put the potatoes.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Oh so it gets just over the potato. Yeah, that's
very cristy, it is. Okay, we can try that. Well no, no,
well I'll recommend the chef cooked. Oh yeah, well I left.
We left it too late to get someone to do
(30:40):
it for us. But I'm a bit nervous. I'm a
good cook when it's just your staples, yes, but entertaining
for like twenty people and doing it all yourself, that
completely freaks me out. Have you got an electric carving knife? No,
I'm going to the shops. Yeah, because it won't he won't. Yeah,
(31:01):
so I've got to heat the things up. Look, I've
got to put the turk in the oven when it comes,
but it will be cooked then I can't leave it
in there for too long because Turkey is it'll be
very dry. So anyway, so I do have a fear
of entertaining. Yes, hosting. Do you want me to come
(31:22):
and play pian I love you too. It might be
in Brisbane, but I know you will be. Yeah, you
should spend time with your own family Christmas, I absolutely
will be. Do you want to do a song? Yeah? Absolutely,
jump up at once? What song should we do?
Speaker 4 (31:36):
It?
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Go Santa go oh lovely? Yeah, this wouldn't. This doesn't
suit in the hotel and it's a bit too tempo.
Can I tell you my story quickly?
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (31:44):
Years ago after Whopper, I have lived in Melbourne. I
was working at Baker's Delight and Roast kitchen shop, actually roast.
I think we did Turkey and then I thought I'm
going to put myself out there use my skill. So
I you know the cinema now I'm gonna forget the name.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
It's in Melbourne.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Palace, the palace at the Chapel Street. Yeah, one very
nice little palace there. They had a piano. So I'm like, okay,
I've got this. I don't know many songs, but I'm
going to go and give a cv to play lobby
piano music. Really, I never got the confidence too. I
(32:25):
never gave my CV, I never did it. I thought
you're going to put the old Santa head down, and.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
I got I got too nervous. But I would have
loved to.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
That's nice when you're sitting waiting for a movie to hear.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
I've got more song. Now, maybe I could go back
and you could do it and then try again that
lovely attitude piano. What are we doing? Go Santa go
do do You've got such a long way to go?
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Go Santa, go go go go.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Go call the rain Din go get ready, go an
awhay you go go Santa, go go go go go
Santa go Weekly Christmas, Yeah, that is one of the
great Wiggles songs. Look, I'm excited for Christmas. I'm always
(33:26):
excited for Christmas. Lauren loves Christmas. Yes, Asher, he's incredibly
excited about Christmas. And he's happy because everyone's going to
come over, all his friends and cousins and everything will
come over and we'll have it. But I think more
than that, it's more about the whole holiday. The whole
season is not for us so much about Christmas Day.
(33:47):
It's about you know the year is a big year.
We were away a lot and this is our moment
of downtime, and I think it's a time that we
as a family can all get together and kind of reconnect.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
It's aboulia, a real moment to settle and to spread
some Christmas chair. I would like to think, and I
said this last year, but Johnny, you're a wonderful purple
wiggle and we've had a wonderful year together. So thank you.
Thank you for your fun energy and relaxed vibes. Oh,
thank you, and Simo, thank you for wiggle Talk and
(34:20):

we hope you have a very happy and safe Christmas.

around the world, and thank you for listening to Wiggle Talk.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Johnny, can I tempt you? Are you? Are you? Straight? Everything?
Speaker 3 (34:45):
And it is well, that's a fruit mince part.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Heart a shrewd This is John's in incredible We know
is in great shape. And John, but John eats a
bit of everything. You'll be snacking on little tart, some
chippies and things. And I see John doing I think
John can do it. But it's not the case. It's
not I think that, Simon.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Then accidentally, I've accidentally picked up some pairs of your
wiggle pants before and chuck, Holy dully, Well no, I
couldn't get over one leg. It's very were they tight, yes,
they would be. I have small hips, small ways.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Is that what it is? Okay, Yeah, that's probably I
think that's what we're talking about. You don't have to
hold the you know, maybe maybe you have a Christmas
John let himself go. Yeah Christmas cheer. I might give
it a go. Have you wonderful Christmas, Johnny, thank you,
and you're and your beautiful family have a great time together.
And yeah, everyone stay safe, look after each other.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Yes we've got fruit mind supies for everybody. A big,
very big thank you, wiggly Christmas. Thank you to our
wonderful producer Madeline, Thank you Madeline for all the work
you've done. And to behind the camera there, thank you Nick.
