Speaker 1 (00:10):
My Heart podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists, and listen
live on the Free. I heard Dave Hughes is back
in hospital. He was in this studio what two weeks ago?
I'd say a week and a half ago, if you're
not across it. He did an exhibition match this is
back in August, where he broke a couple of rig ribs.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Excuse me, punctured along.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
But now the news is that he is back in hospital,
he joins us on the phone. Right now, Hughesy, mate,
you're back in hospital. What's going on?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
No, there's even breaking news, not breaking rib news, but breakings.
I've just got out of hospital and free again.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Guys, great to have you back on the streets.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Excusey. We all feel safe for knowing that you're back
on the streets. It sounds like a criminal.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
He hasn't got out of jail.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Osbon taken hostage though. I just wanted to leave the hospital,
and they said he goes stay man, he goes day.
I'm like, come on, there was no The window didn't
open and I M have to know and I was
going to throw jump out the window. So there was
only one floor up. I thought I would have flanned entree.
I could have just wandered off. But yeah, so I
welled under the health professional too. You know, I did

(01:24):
the right thing by, you know, give me one end
dome at a time. I don't know if you ever
had an endome, but when the cup comes and you
think there's going to be three in there and there's one,
it's really disappointing, really disappointing.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
It sounds like you've had a couple of those indomes
right now. Now, mate, tell us, so why did you
go back into hospital. We're all across the fact that
you broke the ribs and you punctured the lung, But
why returning to hospital?

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Use he yeah, look, it's not just to get lights
on my Instagram, even though it is really good for
my Instagram. I'm gonna like, but no, I I had
a heart like scan because my doctor was worried about
my heart, and then my heart was perfect. But the
person who on the scan said, you know, you're right,
lung has just got heaps. And I'm like, well, that's cool.

(02:10):
It's good to keep hydrated guys, But no, apparently it's not,
so they had to suck it out. I thought I
was only going to be a day procedure, but then
there's like, oh no, you've got to stay, and then
you got to stay the next day. And it was
it was you know, what can I say? I had
a hose in a hose in my lung to get
the fluid out. It was meant to stay overnight, but
it fell out. Not my bob, it fell out, and

(02:32):
there was no doctors around to put it back in,
and so I'm like, can I just put it back in?
And they said no, So I had to stay two days,
which is a night.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Okay, well you kind of touched on it just just
before they're in your answer there about it being good
for your Instagram, because last time you were in here,
my friend you said this.

Speaker 6 (02:51):
You told us this, five broken ribs and a punctured lung,
cherry on top. And my first thought was not for
my own safety. My first thought was let's get the
media involved here and interview. Because I did about seven
radio interviews and Channel seven were on their way in.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
It was just going to be great morning for me.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
I was chock a block full of more fame, having
the best time of my life. And then the bosses
of the hospital they said you've got to stop doing
interviews in ICU.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
I said, you don't know what heals me?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Do you take that away?

Speaker 6 (03:23):
And I'm right, we'll kill me now.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
So Hughsey to get attention.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Heals you, my friends, So right now I want to
make all your dreams come true.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Thirteen one oh sixty five is our number. Guys. If
you want to give us.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
A call right now and just help heal Hughsy by
giving him some words of support and effectively just giving
him some attention, then give us a call on thirteen
one oh sixty five.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
How do you feel about that, Hughsy?

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Mate? Not everyone is going to give words of healing.
Some people are like all right. It was a lot
of people were saying a rip husy and they're really
they kill me off. I'm there's no people I was dead,
but they were jumping the gun. So yeah, there was
quite a bit of that. You can go the way, guys,
the way.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Okay, well accept that, would accept that as well.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
As it's gonna be a lot of love for you.
Got to get around the big fella. Yeah, absolutely, guys,
now's the time. This man I don't want to I
don't want to put him back in hospital. He's an
Australian treasure, he's an icon.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, let's keep him out of hospital, let's heal him,
give him some attention.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I've had a good life, guy, so I've got let's
just calibrate that it happened. Not cry.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
That's just welcome back to Hesy's funeral. Here, just still
hanging on. I love that.

Speaker 7 (04:46):
Song?

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Would you like?

Speaker 7 (04:47):
Is he?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
What song would you like?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Look? I just I think Breathed by George or the
band George and that song Breeze has breathe. I don't
want to breathe.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
It's on the kids playlist that one, Yeah, might not
be the line.

Speaker 7 (05:02):
There's a Sean there's a Sean Paul song called Breathe,
which I reckon might be in the system.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Which would you would you take?

Speaker 3 (05:08):
That? Might take anything, honestly right now, I'd take whatever
you've done, you know. I mean, I do love Jung Williamson.
I know that kids love Jungle Limson. You know.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
Okay, I think we have got Breathed by Sean Paul.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
I mean this just screams you, Husy, what.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
A great system you've got in there?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Now you are back in hospital for people across it
was talking about it.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Before the song. You were sent into hospital.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
You broke some ribs and punction a lung during an
exhibition AFL Magic.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, a couple before.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
It's like a couple of guys. Sorry, sorry, handful of
ribs broken.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
And then months later you're back in hospital draining a lung.
But when you came in the studio, Hughesy, you told
us that the thing that heals you is attention. And
last time you're in hospital, you had the radio interviews
coming out your bum. You had Channel seven coming down,
people wanting to interview you. So we just thought right
now with our radio audience, we'd get you some attention

(06:15):
made to help heal you from.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
This most recent journey to the hospital. Again, it is
sounding like a funeral, but let's go to Liz here. Liz,
what do you got for Hughesy?

Speaker 8 (06:25):
Oh mate, that's terrible. You probably shouldn't be talking to
these two and laughing so much. That's probably going to
make things worse and you can't breathe any better. I
hope you get better soon, mate, appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
But laughter is the best medicine, isn't it? Absolutely?

Speaker 8 (06:39):
And as for a song. You want to do that
golden song.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
It makes everyone happy, the golden Golden song, a golden song.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
I've got no idea what thanks, thanks for the message.
Oh the K pop demon Hunter's song.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Will become his funeral. God, let's go to Kelly in now. Kelly,
I mean, welcome to what is feeling like Dave Hughse's funeral.
You've got some words to say to him.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah, Look, your poor thing, you've been through the ring
of lately. Look all the best and speedy recovery to you. Look,
I really appreciate that. I really do, and I believe
I am recovering. I mean, I'm doing a gig in
Tamworth on Saturday night, so that's still think it's available
there basically. But I'm so you know what, that soon

(07:32):
we got on stage, I forget about all my troubles.
Gods too soon. You're rushing, You're Russia. No no, no,
you never know, you never know your last day, so
why not enjoy it? You know?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Just quickly? You're in Balana this Saturday, mate.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
I think that was last night, that was last surday
that I was hanging out with a big prawn. I
don't know if you've seen the big prawn, but it's
massive right next to the right, next to Bunning's. Actually,
go get a big barbecue and throw the prawn on it.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
You're selling tickets and doing gear at your own funeral.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
This is what room arkable for a man who's about
to die.

Speaker 7 (08:11):
Sip the cat, do not go quietly into that dark
knight music. Carry on, what do you think actual funeral?

Speaker 5 (08:19):
He will still trying to be selling tickets to show
the you know what.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
I'm going to make people watch watch an our stand
up my funerals and locked the doors. Actually every joke
I've ever done.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
The first funeral ever, that will be a ticketed event
which will go straight
