Angela Bishop Shares Update On Liam Payne's Tragic Death

Obviously the biggest story of today sending all sorts of
awful feelings throughout the world. Is that Form One Direction band.
Remember Liam Payne has died in Argentina aged thirty one,
and Bishop, the entertainment editor from Network ten joins us
right now, welcome back to the shows.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Great to have you here.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Yeah, I'm sad that it's under these circumstances. What was
that the most shocking news when it came through? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
You've interviewed them a couple of times doing exclusives chowns
with them, so you had a connection with them as
well right at.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
That peak, and it was quite incredible to watch. So
you think they got together in twenty ten, you know,
you know the story, Simon caw put them together after
they all auditioned to The X Factor and so forth.
Suddenly they explode around the world. They're absolutely huge, the
biggest span in the world. They came to Australia at
the first time, right at the peak in twenty twelve,
and I sat down with them and they literally could

not move without screaming girls every single place they went.
They knew where they were. There's the biggest band in
the world. They knew where they were at all times,
and I was talking to Lea about it in that interview,
and I said, do you ever want to jump out
and actually get to talk to those fans? And he says, well,
it's now too dangerous for the fans if we get
out and go to them, because they'll be crushed, and

so we have to stay in the cars or stay
with the security guards, and then they basically lock us
in our hotel rooms. Now I've now looked at the
interviews he's done subsequently, you know, many years later, and
saying it was when they were locked in those hotel
rooms that he started to have his problems with drugs
and alcohol, because he said, he's in a hotel room
and what's there a mini bar, and so to escape

(01:34):
from it all because they were basically going concerts, airport,
concert hotel room. So you go from one hundred thousand
people screaming at you to an empty hotel room on
your own.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
And you're super young as well, ready in yourself for that,
especially when you're at such a young age.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
He was actually trying to organize a course through a
record company for musicians who come to fame through reality
TV to give them a guidance system to get through
so that it didn't happen. So what happened to him
didn't happen to other people.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah right, I did not know that.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
So what do we know about the fall from the
balcony today?

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yeah, it's awful. So he was in Buonazar in Argentina.
He was originally there to see fellow One Direction bandmate
Nile Horn and go and see him at a gig,
which he did. He was there with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
He's posted plenty of stuff to Snapchat. Oddly enough, some
videos from a few days ago. He seemed to post
earlier today, but he seemed to be having a good

(02:37):
time and enjoying life and so forth. But then the
hotel where he's staying out the Casa ser Palermo, the
stuff there, called police in the afternoon and said, we
have a guest too. This is actually the wording of
the nine one one call which we've just retrieved. We
have a guest who was over indulged on drugs and alcohol.

(02:57):
He's breaking things everywhere in the room and we need
you to send someone over. We need to send someone
urgently because well, I don't know if there is a
risk to the life of the guest, so that was
the call that went through. Witnesses report that they'd seen
a man behaving erratically in the foyer earlier in the day,
so it's just devastating on every level, absolutely devastating. Oh wow,

only thirty one. He's a dad. He's a dad. Of course.
He and his former partner Cheryl Cole, who was one
of those judges when he first auditioned on X Factor
when he was fourteen and she was in Girls Allot.
Of course they dated for three years and they have
a seven year old son Bear. He posted a video
to his YouTube channel about a year ago after he
did a bit of a disastrous podcast with some logan

Paul I think it was explaining that it had to
go to rehab and saying how he wanted to be
a better dad for bed, you know, to have something
to teach him, and that he was feeling he was
in a better place now and so forth, and a
better place that could be a great dad and to
write more music and so forth. He seemed to be
looking up and of course one direction. Fans all around

the world were of course hoping a reunion one day
because they when they split, they never said they split,
they said they were going on hiatus. So you know,
it's always been, always been the dream.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah. Wow, that is a sad day. Incredible intel bish
with that call on nine one one. I've got to
