Speaker 1 (00:00):
The news here is that two bodies have been found
in and around the Golden area by the detectives looking
for that Sydney couple Luke Davies and Jesse Baird. Obviously,
this is the crime which the new South Balest Police
alleged that a senior constable committed. He has been charged
with their murder, but the bodies were found before. In
(00:20):
two surfbags, we're going across to Zara James from nine
years whose freshman press conference with the new South Bass Police.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Hizara, Hey, how are you? Ah?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, well, this is all pretty tragic. It just continues
to get more and more tragic and the police are
sure that there are no other police involved with this.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Police have said that they are just focusing on one
person who has been charged with murder at this stage,
but obviously comes after the announcement just a short time
ago that the bodies of TV presenter Jesse Baird and
his boyfriend Blue Davis have been found. They've also said
done they've managed to inform the families of the true
men about this discovery. There's been obviously a painstaking investigation
(01:02):
at this point. They have been at this Bungonia property
for the past two days with investigators and divers, but
it was late this afternoon where they have since located
another area about twenty minutes away from the original search site,
where they've now confirmed that the body has been found.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Guys, why were the police looking in that area? Has
any information come out about that?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Well, this has been a huge investigation and it's spanned
over quite a significant timeline from here in Sydney in Paddington,
the timeline stretches up to Newcastle and down to Bungonia.
There had been a white van allegedly spotted in the
Bungonia area, but it wasn't until today when a senior
homicide detective was due to speak with the accused at
(01:47):
silver Water Jail, and it is understood police alleged that
he told this detective where these bodies would be.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Right, So the guy that they have charged with murderers
is the one who is leading them to the bodies.
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, that's what police were alleging at this stage.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Okay, Wow, that's a huge development. Obviously. Marty grad this
weekend as well as Zarah. Was there any mention about that.
I know there's been some discussion about the people running
Marti Gras, saying that they want to ban police officers
from marching in uniform.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah. So last night the board of the Marty Grass
said that they had revoked the invitation to the New
South Wales Police who were supposed to be marching in
uniform at the Marti Gras. This is a tradition that
had been running for twenty years. They stated some reasons
why this invitation had been reposed, you know, the general
feeling and the general feeling ability for people to grieve.
(02:41):
And since then last night the newse Off Police Commissioner,
she released a statement saying that she was disappointed by
this and we understand that her along with the board
had been meeting later today and we are soon to
receive some updates on that.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Cool. Wow, that is an absolute melting pot ahead of
Marti Gras. Tragic as well, obviously this whole thing, there's
just so much sadness. So thank you so much for
joining us. Love to hear from you. From Channel nine.
There Zara James with an update. Those two bodies are yeah,
found by the detective searching for Sydney couple of Luke
(03:16):
Davies and Jesse Baird in Bongonia, a couple of hours
south of Sydney, as you just heard there. We're going
to have an update on that a bit later on,
particularly in and around the Marti Grash factor and whether
or not police will be allowed to march. So obviously,
as I said, a bit of a melting pot in
terms of opinions, history and now the personal factor as well,
So a whole lot to talk about in and around
what should be a very proud celebration for a lot
(03:38):
of people lumped in with a really tragic event. So yeah,
we'll cover that as the show goes on. I hope
you're having a great drive home. It's with money
