Speaker 1 (00:10):
My Heart podcasts, hear more kids podcasts, playlists, and listen
live on the Free I had and that.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
In the studio right now, Luke, Callum, Michael and Ashton, guys,
here are you going. Thanks for having us, Thanks for
coming in.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
It was a great intro.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
I appreciate it. I appreciate You're actually right next to
me as well, so you can see it written down
on my sheet for me, I'm looking.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's got me in the top left. That's nice. How
Mike Ash's got the photos or all different errors. It's funny.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Actually the first question guys, you.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Guys can ask the questions yourself if you lie, if
that's if that's what you want to do. So the
last record was twenty twenty two. Is that right? I
was trying to like quantify it in terms of relationships
I've had. Was it like a break or was it
a breakup like you were you like banning each other
from your social media and kind.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Of like this narrative that's going around that we like
reunited a.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Sort of so we're not doing that, not that it?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, yeah, is it okay? Yeah, it was terrible breakup. Yeah,
it's good for hype. Actually, lot of like really drama. Yeah,
and then we got back together.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
Yeah, this is the tour that we're doing is actually
a reunion tour but also a breakup tour getting back
together the.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Last one as well. I'm pretty sure the Eagles did
a reunion tour called Health Freezes Over because John McLean
got asked when the Eagles get back together, and he said,
when hell Freezer is over.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
That's good.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Well you can you can rebrand now if you want to.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
That's actually that was a good idea.
Speaker 6 (01:43):
It's funny because people kept saying, like when we started
put out music, like you guys reunited and more like
we hung out like every every week. Yeah, I saw
these boys were just film mates. Took some minute to
make the right album. We wrote a couple of really
good songs a few years ago, and then it took
a minute to get ten other songs on the level
of those ones. So it was like we set the
(02:05):
bar too high, So I just took a minute to
get it together. We all did some solo stuff and
we wanted to make sure we were stoked in it.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yea, when we were over in Perth, we spoke to
you guys really early on. I think we introduced you. You
did the show over there just to like for this
old radio station we used to work for, and we
kind of dug back through the archives. I was reading
a chat with you guys in like twenty fifteen with
Rolling Stone, and you were kind of like just gushing
on all these stories from the industry where you were like,
oh my god, we were at you know, this party
(02:32):
with Nick Jonas and then at Justin Bieber after party
and now like two of you are dads. I mean
that's pretty wild. Like how how do you reflect on
that initial time to where you are now?
Speaker 4 (02:43):
I think we've just we've come a long way, and
we've done a lot in the years that we've been
doing this, you know, and we've been doing it for
like fifteen years, but we're still considered kind of like
a new band. So I think for us, it's just
like you know, with each album, we just like to
not stay complacent and just try different things and do
new stuff. And I think like for this album, we're
just are having some fun and.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Because they've all been really different sonically, Yeah, it's a
super different.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Yeah, And I think that's part of the phone of
like what we get to do as a band is
like we just get to make different things every single
time and make it. You know, we never get bored.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Is to a life a bit more boring though, now
that you're a little bit older, or do you still
like to get out.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
Of there and have a good time insane? The recent
tour it's very high energy and like there's you know,
we're doing like almost gags on stage. Oh yeah, and
so it's we got got to be really locked in,
gotta be happy.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Really, I'm gonna start using that now. Yeah, I've been
locked in. We're gonna get locked in.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
We're always locked in. Really, We've got we've got to
sit here very high edgy talking to the.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Only next time I go on a date with my
partner and let's lock in.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
In the other thing.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
I want to ask you guy, So when you were
coming up through all of this, you were really like
like culty in a sense, like the fans, like there's
there's a there's a real what do we call five
seconds of summer fans? Is there is there a some
of them? Or are they like you know, I don't know,
is there you never you don't mind that you can?
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah? What is that?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (04:14):
No, it's thanks.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
What's sort of the wildest thing you've seen from the
fans side of things? Like, have you read any of
the fan fiction or anything like that.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
All the time?
Speaker 5 (04:22):
Yeah, look, not doing too much fan fiction reading these days.
One time there was a person who's snuck in were
playing in Vegas. They snuck in the events and they
got stuck in the air vents. No way, Yeah they yeah,
never did it out.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
They carry their name with us.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I love to know.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
And then they had to call the police and then
they got them out, and yeah, I don't think they.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
How did you know they were in the events like you?
I was in the events.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Of it all? Is that they didn't even get to
see the show.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
I hate that you're talking about them, which is kind
of cool.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I reckon.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Last time you guys are in this studio, actually there
were like cars waiting for you at the front that
you had to get away from.
Speaker 7 (05:14):
Is that it's a sobering reality.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Trying to keep on the download.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
We can organize some guys to come if you look
to edit this part out.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
We're going to get you guys to play. Can you
hear it now?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Callum?
Speaker 1 (05:35):
You've you've heard us play this game before.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
I've seen it on TikTok and I think i'd I'd
nail it. Every time that I've watched it, I go, yeah,
this is a game for me.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
There's a number of musicians that have played this game before.
You guys have spent some time with Joe Jonas before,
Is that right? Yeah, we've spent a little time with Joe.
How what's what's Joe like? Because a go absolute legend.
I mean, what do we see him last?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
At the show?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
We actually played the Jonas Brothers show in La We
did sill looks so perfect with them.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
Joseph Sweetheart actually, well he trew sweetheart.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I think he's a sweetheart and I think after he
split up from his partner, a very very bored sweetheart
because he was just watching our socials and he was like, Hey,
can I come in and play that game? So he
was once he broke the record, he got six in
a row.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Wait, who's Renee?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
So Renee is from Hopper's Crossing and she just came
in here and got fifteen in a row. So Joe
Jonas and Gary Barlow is from Take.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
That GB came to my birthday party once.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Do you really really did well, hell in Vegas. He
seems like a nice guy.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, we bowled together.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Yeah, there you go, and you're better at listening to
cans than old GB.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Let's say yes, yes, Okay, so we're gonna need a
like you guys, just to come to a consensus if
that's cool as to whether you think it's beer or
soft drink? Honesty policy obviously, eyes closed. I don't know
do we get in the face the other way? What
do we trust them?
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I trust the boy? Well, I'm not going to like
coming to a consensus. Isn't our strongest?
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Oh yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Okay. Album took three years ago.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
So so.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Just to confirm, I'm going to be cracking a can
for here you boys, based on the stand of it
at a siding, beer or soft drink?
Speaker 5 (07:13):
Okay, can you choose a different can? Because I'm looking
at the camera. You can do a different can? Part
of the mental al right, guys has over eyes.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Okay, five seconds of summer playing.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Can you hear it? Here's can one?
Speaker 7 (07:40):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (07:43):
I know exactly what that is.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
Okay, Ashly you think you know what it is?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Can we open?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (07:50):
You can open, you can open.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I can hear the size bubbles.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
It was a quick, a quick snap.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Yeah, but usually I don't know. I feel like, well,
what's more carbonated beer or soda? Soda? There's not not
that many bubbles happening, not that much carbonation happening.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
With you in here.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
It was of about froth actually wasn't.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
What do you think? You're pretty confident off the beat? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Actually, what did you? What do you think is a
bit like a frothy you reckon said a bit like.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
A Okay, I vote for you.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
You're voting beer, voting beer.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
They sound disappointed, you can hear it in their voices.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
No, I'm just I'm just intrigued whether where this is going.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Should we go with beer boys? Yeah, let's go beer?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Yeah, that's a beer incorrect. The funny thing is you
guys give it away.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
We were so disappointed.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Only you and Jason Derulo have got zero. We love Jason.
He just didn't know what he was doing.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Are we still going to get the TikTok page?
Speaker 6 (08:49):
There?
Speaker 3 (08:49):
We're going to get the TikTok pages?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Is this making our TikTok?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Do they have to be in a row?
Speaker 6 (08:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yeah, you need to give us one more?
Speaker 2 (08:59):
You want another?
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Going to go around to let me go.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Clear the day. This game is too hard.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
Tell me Beatrice from Oopska got opps crossing opps crossing,
Renee from hopping across fifteen in.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
A row on her phone in the car.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Yeah, a lifer, Renee.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Sorry, jeez, Renee, Sorry, I'm just upset.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
I heard no carbonation. Then, yeah, I think.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Respectfully, Callum, I know you might have to go.
Speaker 8 (09:48):
Just listen to the group. So the last one, Calum
has been sacked. It's more of a mental game. Is
he gonna is he gonna throw another another soft thing.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
I'm just thinking about what he's what he's thinking of.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
I'm thinking nothing about the actual sound you're reading me.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
If we go beer again, we get it wrong. I
mean just it's I.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Think he's done to I think he's done to Coca
Colas in a row.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
That's what I think.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
Yeah, I think I think to save face, we've got
to go soft.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
No, I'm not calling.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Sit down, Callum.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Shut up.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
The first one clicked real quick, and the second one
clicked a bit slower.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Well, I feel like we're in the studio with you guys.
Speaker 6 (10:31):
The first one was the second one was let's just
look him be let's let's pleasure.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Here we go, here we go, right now, let's keep
eyes closed for the chat. Okay, so he doesn't have
to keep hiding them. Okay, sounds like.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
What's that? That's coke? For sure?
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Really, that felt like a coke? Alright, what are we
looking in Coca cola?
Speaker 7 (10:56):
Yeah, I think cokes are a little bit higher in pitch.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
That one sounded like a beer to me. That sounded
like number two.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Okay, yeah, I agree, Okay, I'd.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Be happy to look it. But but then I'm also thinking.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Now it's Michael, you just said before you ship the game,
and you're happy it's beer for sure. Let's all right,
all right, Renee? Wow, okay, wow.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
If at any point we just want Luke to play,
let us know.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
It just feels like he's the only one we can
hear different.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
That's coke. That's that's different. That was different, Yeah for sure? Yeah, yeah,
I agree. I can hear it now, I can hear it, righty.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Wow, it's game over, Renee, We're coming for you.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Clear the day. Let's coke?
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah, wow, wow, it is.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
He's got it a game.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
Mum hmmm, that was a tricky one to Oh, that's tough.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
I mean, I want to say beer off the bat.
I want to say you're off the bat. But I
went to go beer.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
But then I've realized I've gotten every single one wrong. Therefore, no, no, no,
I think it's beer.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
You've tied.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
A bit of swagger about the boys. Now look at this.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
They got the tails up.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
Let's coming to your name for sure, coming for your name.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Okay, tied up with Gary, but the team is static.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
They've clear the afternoons go right to twenty, so.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Equal with Gary Barlow on seven cans? Right now is
the eighth can five seconds of summer playing? Can you
hear it?
Speaker 5 (13:22):
No, that's gotta be a sound like I think that
sounds like a.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Beer if I ever heard one.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Lock it in umber right?
Speaker 9 (13:32):
Well wait, well wait, we might need some more cans,
thank you?
Speaker 7 (13:43):
Oh no, no oh, Luke, Oh.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
No, you're going we go?
Speaker 1 (13:51):
I thought that was coke, dude, So am I right
in saying everyone thinks coke apart from you, Luke?
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Is I?
Speaker 2 (13:56):
I have no thoughts, but we've established that. We have
established to make that clear.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
I mean I probably would go be here, but now
I'm a bit scared, a bit scared. Let's lock in
beer scared.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
I trust you be okay here, we number nine know what's.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Wrong with the build up already know what's wrong with
the build up.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
And you have read it correctly.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
That was a soft drink.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
No no, no, that's not cool. But that's not I
think there's a lesson to be learned here.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
What's that?
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Sometimes you gotta trust your boys, and you know what
typical lead singer stuff.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
You are? Well wait five seconds of summer Luke Callum,
Michael Ashton, boys, thanks so much for coming in. Thank you,
it's been a trait to have you
