Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hey guys, so a very special behind the scenes podcast here.
We just think that everybody needs to hear this because
this is probably one of our favorite moments on air
in the last year.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Comfortably can't pass.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
So if you're a fan of our podcast, you would
know Harry who tries to solve tech issues with me
in World's Worst Tech Support. This time round, we made
it interactive. I don't want to say too much.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Here, but again I just don't think we can.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
We just think this was worth putting in as a
separate podcast because if you missed the full show, you
just have to get this.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
So enjoy Joe Computer starting the World's Worst Tech Support.
Alrighty would? I am very excited about today.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
So before we get our player on today, which is
going to be Harry.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Love Harry.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
We love Harry.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
He's brilliant, he's great. Before we get him on today,
I need to explain to you and to everybody else
listening what he's going to be doing today. So he's
going to be merging a call.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
That's too much.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Now the reasons come on now.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
The reason we're getting in to do this, the reason
we're getting to do this was is because a few
days ago. We had a whole bunch of guys on
and they weren't over eighty. They were, you know, like
largely young men I'm going to say, between the age
of thirty and forty, and each of them was asked
to merge a call live on air. Now, this idea,
seeing I thought, was so simple that I actually had
(01:40):
to go at you're going to hear this at the
start of the audio, because I thought you were patronizing
the first caller.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
You're like, oh, you're okay with that? Are you going
to be okay with that? Have a listen? Are you
right to do that? Scott? Are you right to connect?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Awesome, mate?
Speaker 4 (01:56):
You are you right? Are you right to do that?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Scott?
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Do you need me to walk through this guy?
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Did you get that?
Speaker 4 (02:02):
No, you didn't merge the cause you said you had.
Actually you merge the calls? Okay, so that we.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Can hear what's going on?
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Where am I take your time? We've lost him?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Why don't we go to finn?
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Okay? Okay?
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Thanks mate?
Speaker 3 (02:22):
All right?
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Getting men to do one job with their phones?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Did you guys get any of that?
Speaker 4 (02:33):
It was? It was agonizing. So today, for the world's
worth tech support. We're going to get Harry to try
and do that. I think we need to. We need to.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Let's let's bring him into the fold. Harry, welcome back
to Will and body.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Yay, well and Wardy, how are you?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
We're so good mate. My mood lifts when I hear
your voice.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Mate.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
But let's get down to business here.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Though, Harry.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Have you ever merged a call?
Speaker 5 (03:00):
I've never heard of emerging. This is gonna go there.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Well, Harry, have you have you have you ever been
on a conference call before?
Speaker 5 (03:14):
Yeah? I've been on conference halls in business many times.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Yes, okay, so similar concept. Yeah no, but he wasn't.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Imagine, Harry, I got my secondary the hook all that up.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
I imagine he would have just he just would have
picked up the handset back in the day.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Get me a conference hall with America, England wherever.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
What did you used to do, Harry? What business were
you in here?
Speaker 5 (03:37):
I used I used to run chemical companies. Wow, yeah,
there you go.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Brilliant, Harry.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
It sounds like, you know, if you're running chemical companies,
like this should be explainable.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Harry.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
I feel like your scientific brain's going to be up
to this, okay.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
Yes, with chemicals, not telet communica.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, okay, Well, look Harry, what we're going to do.
There's a bit to explain here. So we're going to
go to a song. I think it's a good idea
that you grab a note pad and pen. Yeah, because
once once we yeah, because once we launch you here,
it's a bit like the dark side of the moon.
We're not going to have any contact with you while
you're trying to do it.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Let me go to okay, oh yeah, I got to
get a pad, all right.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
We'll let you. Yeah, you've got a song about it.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
I got a pan pad, right, mate?
Speaker 4 (04:25):
And who are you gonna call well on that and
or your wife?
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Okay, great, lovely, all right, Well we'll do next. That's right.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
It is the World's Worst Text Support here on Will
and Woody. Ordinarily I ask Woody and somebody over the
age of eighty tech questions they try and answer them together.
But today Woods, we're doing a live and interactive version
of World's Worst Tech Support. I'm very, very excited to
say that Harry is back.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Welcome back, Harry.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
How are you guys?
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Mate? Where sychs mate? So so Harry.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
What you are going to try and conquer today, will
Woody is you're going to try and merge a call. Okay,
all right.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Now, and you've never done it before, Harry.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
No, okay, okay, So Harry, if this, if this works,
your wife and yeah, will be on the radio with
us at the same time as you. So there'll be
her phone line, your phone line, and us all talking
at the same time. Okay, okay, So that's that's the
(05:36):
end goal here. Okay, okay, all right now, before the song,
we asked to get a note and Penny read it.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I was going to say, would do you want me
to explain this, but there would be like the vision
in bed Bleeding the blind iView did is the.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Man Harry tried to do this and I've done it before. Harry,
I'm will you in the merging of the calls?
Speaker 2 (06:01):
This this is the bit.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Okay, great, okay, great, Harry.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Step step one right down one dot one.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Yeah. Okay. So looking at.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Your phone, looking at the face of your of your iPhone, yeah,
you should be able to see a button that says
ad call.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Don't do it yet, mate, don't do it, but you
will you will first press that button.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Do you want me to press it now?
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Just down at one at call.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Then you then then your your contacts list will come
up and you scroll down to Ann or WiFi or
whatever you've got her saved in your phone as yeah, okay.
You then you then click her on your contact list. Yeah,
and that will start calling her. Okay, dial dial she
(06:50):
picks up. Okay, as soon as she picks up. Then
then look back at your phone and press the button
that says merge.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
Call, Oh, merge call. Shure, Okay, I've got a.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Call, not merging.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
On once you're speaking to and that button changes to
merge call, it's the same button.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
It will change to merge call.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, and there'll be two arrows. It'll be like an
arrow that's yeah. There'll be like two arrows joining that
the merge call symbol because right now it's this ad
call and it's a plus symbol.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
That symbol will.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Change and it'll be two arrows coming together and it
will say merge call. Don't you want to add now
a second, Harry, As I said to you before, once
you start the process, you'll be on the dark side
of the moon, so we'll be uncontactable.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
So from our so from our end.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
I mean, it's godspeed and and if this works, we'll
be speaking to you and and in about thirty seconds.
If it doesn't work, well then you know, I have
a great log, long weekend, brother, and it's been it's
been a trip.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Thanks for nothing.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (07:59):

Speaker 5 (08:01):

one that's all.
Speaker 4 (08:08):

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Has he done it?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
He now needs to dial and as soon as he dials,
and we'll go on hold. Have you have you hit it?
Speaker 1 (08:22):

Speaker 2 (08:23):

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Let's just see what happened.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
I don't know why, I mean, we knew. I don't
have to try again.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
He's obviously talking to his what I reckon, He's going
to try and merge back in. You imagine the conversations
right now, he's going to be like and hold the
one the boys on the other end. I'm about to
put Harry.
Speaker 5 (09:08):

Speaker 4 (09:15):
On hold, but get with the whole merge merge merged, Yes, no, no.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
As you said, will Happy long weekend, Harry.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
If you're just joining us, Look, we can't put this down.
I'm gonna be honest. We're gonna do something else here,
but but we cannot put this down.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
We've been talking all week about the fact that men
are useless with their phones, and it was proved when
we had about five guys in a row who couldn't
merge a call. Now today, in world's worst tech support,
often I bring it an eighty year old on woods
to join you and I ask your tech questions. Then
only just answering questions. But today we put Harry up
to the mergerical task, a live merging of a phone
(10:04):
call by our beautiful friend Harry. He's eighty three years old,
and I've got to say this was so entertaining. He's
back for another crack at it.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Harry. Welcome back to Willan.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
What do you make thang you? Willem morney. Thank you
very much, Harry.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Quick question now not yet old fire.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Quick quick question. What do you think went wrong?
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Well? I got Ann on the phone and then we
lost you. I hit the merged button, but nothing seemed
to happen.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
I think so, Harry. So you you definitely saw on
your screen the icon merge call.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Yes, wow, and.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
You hit that and then we lost you. Well, yeah,
all right, look, Harry, let's go to a song. We're
going to give you a second attempt.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
After the song. You up for it?
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Yes? Yes?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Is an up for it? Is Anne up for it?
Is she doing anything?
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Course, he's up for it.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah, Okay, I just thought you guys might have something on.
All right, mate, let's give.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
It a let's do it up next, alright, he would
so today the challenge, as I said, normally you and
Harry you're just answering questions. The world's worth tech support.
But today, can Harry merge a call? Was the was
the question that was posed.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Harry's back.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
He's already had a crack at this about twenty minutes ago,
two cracks, but he's had two dip.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
We've got to give him a third shot.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Give everybody here in the airlot. We're an upheovle like
he deserves. He deserves a couple of mulligans. Harry's never
merged a call before in his life, never even heard
of merging a call. But he's back putting his ass
on the line on the radio. Harry, Yeah, Harry, So
I need to ask you. So the person you're trying
to merge the call with is your wife Anne? Yes?
Speaker 4 (11:49):
Where is Anne?
Speaker 5 (11:51):
And the next room in the kitchen? I thought? So? Okay,
in the kitchen we're told to go to separate rooms.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Yeah, that's good. We want you in se rooms.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Does she so?
Speaker 1 (12:08):
She and all she's doing is just answering the call here.
She's not doing anything else there, No.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
I start doing anything else?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Okay, do we want to run through again what you're
gonna have a crack out here?
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Harry?
Speaker 5 (12:17):
Are you will go that ad call which then I'll
scrolled down to An's number, hit that, and then I
hit the merge button. It should work, I think.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Just make sure you only hit the merge button after
you've had a little bit of a chat with Anne.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
Okay, we'll do.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
So, wait till Anne's on the phone and you're talking
to her, and then just you know, just you know,
I don't know what what what are you going to ask? Anne? What? What?
Speaker 4 (12:41):
What question are you going to ask you?
Speaker 5 (12:43):
Well? Me, yeah, yeah, What's what's she going to have
for dinner? When we go out to the club tonight?
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Chat? Have that chat, have that chat and then merge
the call.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Okay, okay again again you you're we're going to wish
you on your way here, mate, because we oviously won't
be able to hear all this. But I'll tell you
what if she if you manage to get and back on,
I'll send you another to spinal as pillows pleasure, just
a house of pillows at this absolute pillow kingdom over
at your house.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
We go, okay, good luck, Okay, Okay, Harry, good luck.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Oh my god, Okay, sounds like I hit the button.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
No, what's impressed gone?
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I heard him say?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
And what can we call him back? I don't.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
I think we've got to get back on. I think
we're going to get and on as well.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Obviously, maybe should we try and see if Anne can merge?
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Oh my god, that's a great idea. We're going to
get his voicemail first, though. I think aren't we Harry.
Harry is gone to call and I don't know if
we've got time a little bits.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
They're calling you guys are calling An, so we're calling
his wife. Let's let's flip this, Let's see if Ann
can merge with Harry.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Let's just change the roles. I think that's probably what
we need to do.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah, okay, we've never met Anne, but no offense to
Harry and seems more what.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Do you think he's pressing? Because I'm just trying to think, like,
if if you go, if you go merge and I reckon.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
They're on the phone right now talking about what they're
going to eat at the club tonight.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
No, we can't imagine definitely what
