Speaker 1 (00:10):
My Heart podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists, and listen
live on the Free hard Woods.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
You've had the baby five weeks of build up more
than a Harry Potter movie. You mean really, we were
in here talking about it as r as it wasn't
a sponsored bit, we could have made some money off.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
It, but you had the sales team have really missed five.
I don't know why we got in our heads that.
So Remy came at that's my first dorder. She came
at thirty eight and a half weeks, and we were
just like, oh, if Remy came, then second baby will
come earlier than that.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Hence why five weeks ago I came.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
On here and was like, oh, any money, I could
be dragged out of the studio, and I think this.
I mean this really mentally played with my wife and
I where we were like every night we went to bed,
we were like, we do this joke.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
We'll be like, could be tonight, Yeah, could be tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Five weeks every night we go could be tonight, And
then I had a little thing.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
I would wake up and then go no baby funny for.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Three nights like five weeks of like you would roll
live and by the end, it was just it was
almost like quite a sad, dejected no baby.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Well, it was funny for three days on air.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I mean I got home the other night and said
was like, if I have to hear that drop Zone
song one more time, I will, do.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
You want to hear it?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
We're out of there.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Let's because we're in the love zone.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Baby, got a baby, got a baby. So I start
with the gender, the name.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
It's a girl.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
So we've had our second little girl. I've got a
I've got a just a three of the most wonderful,
lovely women at home now.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Which is extraordinary.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
That's so nice.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Her name is Murphy, Yeah, beautiful, which is nice.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
That was funny. So I was telling the team that.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
So for the whole pregnancy, we were we didn't know
what gender we were having for the whole pregnancy, and
we love the name Murphy, so we were calling the
baby and the worm Murphy for the whole time. It
was only I'm going to say within the last five
weeks where the baby was a bit late, where I
was like.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Maybe it's a boy. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
It was the first time that I was like, there
is a chance this is a boy. And then especially
when it was overdue, I was like, it's a prick,
it's a boy. He's making this way. It's definitely a boy.
So we actually we had a different name for a boy. Yeah,
but then obviously it's a girl. So we got to
call herm Murphy Beautiful, which was really really nice.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
And how to go? How did it all go?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Like in the birth suite, like the lead up, because
I mean, I just got a message from you just
saying we're on.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, sorry I didn't. Yeah, I had no time to run.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
No, no, I knew exactly what you were talking about. I
assumed you weren't talking about a game of tennis.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
That I'd missed something. No, no, no, I knew that
that was going on. So what happened?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
So wild?
Speaker 1 (02:56):
It was, It was totally wild. Yeah, went into labor
at home and so in the morning. Yes, and so
we knew from our first birth. And this is conversations
we've had with our ob and the midwives. Is that
because MIM's labor last time was quite fast? Yeah, they
were like, don't labor at home, Like as soon as
(03:17):
you think you're in labor.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Oh yeah that's right, Yeah, come in straight away.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
So we drove in straight away, and thankfully we did
because in the car things started amping up very similar
to last time, where it was like, okay, we're in
pretty decent contractions out yeah, and then so got straight
into the birth suite, which was great. And then I
think this time round, just because we've done it once,
we just had a few more.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Ways of dealing with the labor pains. So it was
like flash cards.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
Did you get the flash cards out? So that what
you're talking about?
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Thank you for bringing up, because I mean, I didn't
want to bring it up.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
We've been talking about it for ages on the show.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
We've been talking about you taking these buddy lemonaded flash cards.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
On the most cards. So caught a bit of blue tag.
So blue tacked up the flash cards.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Are you actually so you were just saying, before the
contractions are ramping up substantially in the car, you still
spent the time in the birth suite to blue tack
up each flash card.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
So I respect the hell out of that man.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Under under the guard no no, no, under the guards
of my wife because she also got friends of hers
to write down motivational things to her. Oh nice, so
she was them on the wall really badly. So she
kept looking at them, so I blue tacked them. Then
blue tacked the flash cards there, and these were little
offerings that I was providing tom of like trying to
get in the shower. Let's change position, you get in
(04:30):
the birth swing, going to roll over? Do you want
to massage here?
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Kind of thing?
Speaker 1 (04:34):
So had them up, but to be honest, things ramped up.
I didn't look at the flash cards once. So good,
so good say this. And also I think I argued
myself though, because I loved the flash card. I just
knew I just the things to offer. Yeah, so weirdful.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
We hitch ower early, which was good because we have
mims in pain.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
How much to give me here?
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Well, how much do you want? I think people like
birth stories.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
But that's fine, I mean explain at this point, I
had a cup of tea.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
So she's in the shower.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, so hitch out.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
So the other thing, which is very different to the
first birth, is that so first birth we hit the gas.
We were totally fine with drugs effectively, so to deal
with the pain, MIM this time around was like I
want to go drug free nice, which was like, awesome,
let's do that. And I think part of that was
to not have the drugs as an option. As soon
as like an epidural or something was an option, she
(05:28):
would have taken it because the pain just ramps up
so quickly.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
So we were in shower.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Which meant I was I was down to my jocks
pretty quick as well.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
So I'm.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Details in the shower, you're in the jock, the flash
cards are up.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
I don't know much more about the berth.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Here because Mims nude in the shower, and that's like,
I think it's fine when it's the pregnant woman. Mem
and I have discussed this recently or like since the birth.
It's like it's no one was prepared for you in
your jocks though in the shower with me, and then
also when we made the move to the bed, there's
no time to do anything.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I'm just I wrapped it how around my waist?
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Why did you get in the shower?
Speaker 3 (06:11):
So I wanted to provide to her pelvis.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
But why couldn't you just take your shirt off or
just get your t shirt a bit damp?
Speaker 1 (06:17):
So I was and then then was like take that
off because I didn't wanted her face on my chest.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Okay, so it was like, I'm gonna, I'm going to
d rod.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
So yeah, so we hadnecessary It is actually strange.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
It is a bit strange.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
And then these three midwives that the exceptional job that
are just dealing with man in jocks now.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
So moved to the bed. I'm getting So.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
The producers ay more up next. I'm sorry, I'm I'm
giving every I'm a.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Little bit sleep little bit slip deprived as well. Obviously
let's let's we're going to go to.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
I do want to talk about I think the main highlight,
I mean again birth, get to the main the main
highlight my first daughter meeting Murphy was yeah, it's pretty yeah,
it's pretty hard to find the words to describe that moment.
I apologize, my filter is gone. I'm a bit sleep deprived.
So I just spent seven minutes telling the birth story
(07:17):
and I didn't really get anywhere.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
And we only got half an hour in.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah yeah, yeah, so I'm.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Gonna, I mean, how long was the labor overall?
Speaker 3 (07:24):
About six hours?
Speaker 4 (07:25):
So you know you can get the podcast there.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah yeah, yeah, I'll actually go blood.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
It'll be like a director's commentary on the DVD's on.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Australian Australia's birth stories, mate, and just jump on there
to the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
I'm sure they'll tell I'm sure I have you if
they'll take me.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
I think for the sake of the commercial radio, we
should maybe fast forward to yeah, absolutely, the actual birth.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, absolutely, so if you're just join us.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
So mim did want to go for a drug free
birth this time around, which.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Just I mean she was.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
We're back in it, mate, take me to the extrawdinary.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Sorry, sorry, sorry, I think it's just worth mentioning it
because it was very it was very different to the
first time. And you're in the shower, yeah, I was cards,
I've got a towel on nearly well, it got to push, yes,
beautiful here we are, big moment when you transition from
labor to push. And so she was feeling all of
it and it god, brime off will screaming. So I
(08:16):
started screaming as well. Interesting, and so in my I
started grunting.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I was going like this, like next to her and
the bed.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
And then I was moving between that and oxytosin seated
in oxytocin seated in, which is that thing that we
do when we cuddle. But then but then my growling,
I started yelling, and so in my head I was like,
I don't want you to feel self conscious.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
About yelling, like get it out. I'm yelling as well.
I'm bloody going for it.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
So it was just the two of us yelling and
so then so then baby starts coming. We're push and
then so that was the moment though, where Baby's head
was just starting to come out, and Mim went nuts,
stop everything.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
I can't do this, and well, like legs down was
just like we're.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Done here and I was like, no, we're not doing
it because it was hurting so much.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
She was like nope, nope, nope, and so legs went down,
shut it down. And then obviously midwives and Bob were
like no, no, no, no, no, like baby is coming.
It was like head is coming out. So then legs
were back up and so so baby.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
I just love. Mim just tried to shut down the shot.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
No not doing it, No, go back up, go back
We'll come back tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
So the draw bridge, no one else, no one else is.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
I don't want to scare people off, obviously like the
last wanted. But she was like it felt like I
was being like I was ripping in half. She was
like the pain.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Was excruciat right.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
So but anyway, healthy baby came out. So it was
funny though Mim wanted to sorry, I'm sorry if scared.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Three women outside who haven't given birth.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Yeah, old, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
I just pushed it.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
I don't want to do that, but like, I want
to give credit to my like incredibly brave and strong
wife who got through all of that. So then it
got to the point as well where it was like
Mim had said she wants to pull the baby out,
which an option, and so the midwife said like okay,
then reach forward pulled them and was.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
Like, nah, I just want to do it anymore.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
And then the midwife was like no, no, you want this,
you want this, and then Mim did lean forward, pulled
the baby out, and it was the quickest check of
the downstairs.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Yep, it's a girl. And it's so funny how like
it's like we knew it was a girl as well.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
So how did you how did she transfer from I've
got a lot of questions for you, my god, So
you took a long.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Time talking about the bloody showering, your jocks.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
I know, I know it was a big moment for me. Obviously,
watch your question.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
How did she go from getting the the legs down
and closed to back up? Like did you have a
word or did someone else? Who do you snd in there?
Did you have a little power wow? And you're like, right,
who's going to convince that the baby's still coming or
no choice of contraction games.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Three midwives and ob and me. The legs started going
down and it was just a Greek chorus of just
grab everyone. Everyone grabbed because the baby's head was coming. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, and I suppose that's the things she can't control
at that stage, that just happens.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
I wanted to happen.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
No action, baby was coming.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
So we legs went back up and it was just
a it was it was a We were filled with
beautiful midwives. We had Pip in there, we had aerin
in there, we had Lisen there, extraordinary Linel was in
the vaginal Linel. Everyone was playing their part. So then yeah,
baby baby came out. I so then Mim had some
beautiful time with the baby. I had my first hold
of Murphy, which was like, as you know, it's just
(11:40):
the first hold of the baby. It's obviously a very
special moment. My first daughter, Remy, took a wing on
me first time I held her. That was like her thing.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
What do you mean, Oh sorry, oh sorry, I thought
you meant this time around.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Oh no, no, no no, no, no, no no. When my first
daughter was born, the first thing she did was take
a piss on me, and Murph, obviously just wanting to
see that and raise.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Her, took a pool on me.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Oh wow.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
So within twenty seconds, Murphy had taken a big pool
on my chest, which was, you know, also confirmed that
she's mine.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
I reckon taking a pooh, it's just very me.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
You know, like if that's her going for her first joke,
big pool on dad's chest, that's definitely my. So that
was that was a really nice it was a nice moment,
nice moment.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
But then I'd say the biggest, the biggest.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Moment this time round, which was so we didn't experience
the first time round, was then
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Oh yeah, Remy meeting Murphy
