You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Thank you' all know
the drill by now. Whenever I get a chance to
sit in for Big Ben Mallard here on Fox Sports Radio,
there's well.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Actually I probably need to put it in the cooler.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
There is a four pack of tonight's beer of choice,
but Ice three ninety nine for a four pack not.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
A bad deal.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Or or or there is this wonderfully brewed k cup
of Colombian dark coffee. Depending on how the first couple
of segments go, we either try our best to stay
up and party all night long, or we just dole
the pain and live through the misery of four hours

(01:16):
with you.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
He says, Boo's getting wild tonight. It might be us
talking about baby.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
It might be us as we come to your life.

rack dot com The way tire buying should be now.
The typical order of operation on the Ben Malors Show.
As a longtime listener, zero time winner of a Binnie,

(01:48):
it typically goes like this. Ben gives you his monologue
and then introduces the crew. Allow me to work a
little backwards here because I want to say hello to
Ethan Miller, who is in producing tonight. Chris Purfet, whom
I love to chop it up with, including some big
news on bets coming in on your Detroit Lions, per Fet.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
But we all know and love the.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Man who anchors our updates all night long, Eddie Garcia,
though I might consider it to be kind of Judas,
like after that chair shot to the back that he
took to his friends once they made it to the
Women's College World series, Eddie, Eddie, I have a question
for you, though, is anywhar off the top just out
of curious? I don't know if it's like, as soon
as you do the update, you hit the coffee break

(02:35):
or not.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Is that I in I'm here. What's up, buddy? How
are you good?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
How are you dare you turn on the Sooners like
that when he got to the Championship series.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Here's my question.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Is it better to host in your eyes on a
night like tonight when the Mallard militia has got out
all of its anger from Ben being on vacation and
being out this week? Or is it all pinned up
up over the last Monday to Sunday, Monday to four
days and they just let it all out tonight? So

(03:06):
in your mind, better to be in this slot? Are
better to be an opening night whenever everyone realizes that
Ben is out?

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Much much better to be in this spot? I thought,
so so much better. Yeah, the first night everyone's cast off. Yeah,
it's like, how dare Ben take a day off? Pretty much?

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (03:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:24):
But you're good, everything good, Everything's good. All right, man.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Well, I'll let you get to your thing. But I
just wanted to make sure that you and I were
on this same wavelength. Tis better to be on today
than it would be to start the week out.

Speaker 7 (03:37):
You just wanted to rask him about the Sooners.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
He has a friend on the team, and he turned
to be a fair friend, friend friend of Oh wait,
I thought you guys were tight. So all the name
dropping I've done to her she had in her family.
She has no idea what I'm talking about now my
name Yeah, Oh no.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
No, it's it's it's a family member's very good friend.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Not they just they just must really humor me. It's like,
oh yeah, Eddie, great guy. Oh wow, I'm kidding. Well
that's Eddie Garcia.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
And by the way, we're talking about Eddie's got a
family friend that's tight with the Jennings tra Jennings. Who's
whose dad? By the way, Nacio Eddie big listener to
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Well, very nice, there you go.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I we're just making friends all over the place. All right, Well,
let's get after it.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
We come to you live from the tyrack dot com
studios tyrack dot com. We'll help you get there on
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers tire rack dot com. The
way tire buying should be. As always, if you know

Fox eight seven seven nine nine six six three six ' nine. Yass,
We still take calls around here, especially if you're up

you are too hopefully sober.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Hit us up. Twitter is a very easy way to
get in touch with everybody.

communication during the Big mallor show tonight.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Now, there is a lot going on.

Speaker 8 (05:22):
Now.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
This isn't me trying to sell you on the excitement
of ESPN cramming WNBA highlights down your throat. No, no,
that's not it, And I'm not being ANTIWNBA, but I'm
just thinking there's something a little bit more exciting in
the world than the Minnesota Seattle showdown tonight because the NBA,
on the other side of things, is full tilt right
now with information and the battle is what's legit and

(05:46):
what isn't. The battle is what matters, what does it?
And maybe you know, to kind of dovetail off the
what's legit and what isn't. What's real and what isn't.
I mean, these Twitter streets can be mean whenever it
comes to well, the malor militia, but whenever it comes
to fake news, and with the lack of accountability anymore

(06:09):
at all, when it comes to knowing who's legit and
who isn't on Twitter dot com, you don't know whether
or not you're getting real information.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
You gotta dig, you gotta dive. It's not as easy
as it once was.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
But tonight, tonight we have some fairly I don't want
to say fairly, we have some legit information about the
James Harden divorce in Philadelphia. Moments ago, Sam Ammick dropped
a story on The Athletic about what I guess is
turning into a bit of a messy divorce between the

(06:44):
Sixers and James Harden. And I'm again, I'm not an
anti James Harden guy. I felt like he's just it's
he's getting older. He's not a dude that is post
workout videos. He's not a guy that during his off

(07:04):
season you see him necessarily grinding in the gym. Now
he might be doing that. I'm not doubting that he
works out. I'm not doubting that he prepares his body.
But that's not really the image of James R. And
that we get off the field. We get the guy
that likes his time, that likes to party, that likes
the club. So you've seen him, I don't want to

(07:27):
say breakdown, but you've seen his moments, minutes and moments
deteriorate over the last three to four years. I mean,
Harden was elite, I mean an elite scorer during his
final couple of seasons with Houston. Not breaking any news,
the guy won the damn MVP. But you're talking about
as early and recent as eighteen and nineteen, averaging thirty

(07:49):
six points per game, twenty nineteen, twenty twenty thirty four
points per game.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
And here's the shocking part. The dude would play. He
would play.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
He wasn't a load management guy. He wasn't someone who
would sit out or miss games. He would play.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
In.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Since the trade to Brooklyn followed by the move to Philadelphia,
and I know there's been some health issues there, he
hasn't been a guy that has played enough or produced
enough to justify thirty five point six million dollars per

(08:30):
year or a MAX deal. He's just he hasn't been
that dude since leaving Houston, and apparently, according to this
Sam Emmick article, the reason for this most recent twist
in turn in the James Harden saga is because of
frustration with Daryl Morey in the Philadelphia seventy six Ers.

(08:53):
I've got to be honest with you, the moment the
story broke that James Harden was interested in going back
to Houston around what Christmas. And I don't think Woes
is just making stuff up. But when that story broke,
I kind of felt like the Sixers were pretty much done.

(09:13):
It's like, ah, the hell, I don't blame him. According
to sources close to James Harden, he is extremely upset
at the way in which the Sixers handled as possible
free agency and made his dissatisfaction clear to the organization.
Apparently he was frustrated with the delay dragging out negotiations.

(09:40):
Apparently he was frustrated because he decided to take a
pay cut about a year ago, declined his forty seven
point four million dollar player option, signed a one plus
one deal in which you know that thirty three mil
this season and then.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
That player option for this year, and the BLI was, Hey,
the Sixers.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Would go out and use that money in order to
help build around Harden.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
And embiid Well.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
I mean, let's just face it, it was kind of
an abjunct failure didn't work. I mean, he got a
coach fired. It's led to now James Harden leaving rumors
about the future of Tobias Harris.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
But the most.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Intriguing part I think in all of this tonight from
Sam amic Off the athletic.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Is Harden a guy that you're targeting.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
I mean, if you're the rumor is the Clippers, and
I'm sorry, Jason Smith, that other team is, indeed the
New York Knicks. Is that a move as a fan
that you look at and say, it's what we need,
It's what we need to do. We need to go
get this guy and really help to solidify the roster.

(10:54):
I mean, I'm watching right now and Bobby Marx is
laying out a trade that would send but Tom Covington, Morris, Marky.
Is that Mark, Keith Morris and Marcus Morris to the
Clippers in exchange for Harden and Tucker And there would
be some draft pick compensation too. I mean, I again,

(11:15):
I know it's a mess in Los Angeles right now,
and I know that it is without a doubt.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Kind of a tenuous off season with the Clippers.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
I mean, what if both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard
walk into that front office and say, we want max deals.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (11:36):
So a potential move of James Harden to the Clippers
or a potential move of James Harden to the Knicks
is a big story tonight. But to be honest, the
Sixers don't have to honor his trade request to any
of those teams, unless I guess Daryl Morey and the

(11:58):
Sixers do feel bad about the way that things played out.
Here's one more quick little note from Sam Emick's story,
then we'll move on to a couple of other NBA notes.
The Los Angeles native wants to play for the Clippers.
The Sixers are in the process of discussing his desired move.
He is extremely upset with the way the Sixers handled

(12:18):
as possible free agency, made his dissatisfaction clear of the organization.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
And feels as if he was lied to.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
So you put all that together, you got two entities
that seem to be ready to move on from each other. Now,
the question becomes, if you're the Clippers, are you are
you more aligned with the opportunity to go out and
get James Harden to add to your core or are
you potentially looking at man, this isn't working, Kawhi Leonard

(12:52):
and Paul George, it's not working. Last year John Wallace
going to the Clippers. Look at that's going to make
all the difference.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
No, it didn't.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Right, It's just every year I feel like we find
another player that's supposed to come in and save.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
This thing, and it just hasn't happened yet.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
I'm telling you right now, if I'm the Clippers, there's
almost a part of me that starts to think about
re investigating, reinvesting in a potential Paul George Strait, maybe
seeing if there's interesting Kuilinard, because you don't have any
future resources draft wise and honestly right now, are you
building a team to win a championship? Are you building

(13:29):
a team to consistently be a first round exit in
the NBA Playoffs? And I'll add to it, are you
building a team that just consistently adds to the frustration
year and and year out in LA It all circles
back to whether or not you believe you've got a
title contending team, and if you're the Clippers, and if
you feel that, go get James Harden. If you don't,

(13:53):
time to blow the thing up, blow the thing up,
all right. We got a busy four hour show tonight.
If you're a Clipper fan tonight, both of you, I'd
love to hear your thoughts on hard Philly. I know
this didn't work, but what do you gain out of
this to continue to build around Joe el embiid and

(14:15):
show the one thing that seems to be missing in Philly,
which is the ability to take that next step, kind
of like that bride'smaid. Even making it to the finals
right now, I know you want to go back. It
took a wild shot from Kawhi Leonard to knock you out.
You showed some heart and bouncing back and forcing a
series against the Celtics, but you ended up sitting at

(14:35):
home watching the finals again.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
What's the move that can change things in Philly?

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Eight seven seven ninety nine one fox eight seven seven
nine ninety six six three six nine when we come back.
Obviously there's tons of NBA to get you. We could
spend all four hours tonight talking about potential moves, talking
about teams that could be sneaky aggressive, talking about teams
that might sit this out, talking about players who are
going to get paid. But something happened in the NFL

(15:05):
that was talked about and rumored and built up and
it ended up being a big.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Massive DoD We'll dive into that next.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Where is everybody?

Speaker 7 (16:21):
Now?

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I'm not complaining because I like Ethan and obviously I
love prefet But did everyone just say planks in tonight
so we're out? Were you the only person that stepped
up and said I'll hang with you?

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Well, I you know, I could lie and say yes
and make myself look good, but I won't do that.
Justin Cooper is leaving for Las Vegas, or maybe he
has already left for He's gonna compete in the World
Series of Poker, right competition there, And uh, well, Roberto
has has left the company. I don't know if you
knew that or not.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
I did not know that.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Yeah, he's he's taken a day job. He's decided to
get a real gig. What he's outside of the he's
left the radio business.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
So who's been doing like perfets, roles have been a rotating.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
It has been a rotating cast of characters.

Speaker 7 (17:04):
Yeah, so I think. I think the way it goes
is like Mark and Sam get like two days and
then I get whatever's left over.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Oh okay, all right, you're like me on filling in.
It's like whatever.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
There's the winners of the Bennie like Brian, No and Bernie,
and then there's me. I finally get the scraps whenever
they can't work.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Well, I hate to hear that. Does that mean fun
House is back.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Or no?

Speaker 7 (17:26):
I think I remember seeing a tweet that he was back,
but I ended up not working the day he was
supposed to come back.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Okay, there we go. It's one of my favorites. One
of my favorites. I think steady uh who all right?
Uh eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine ninety six six three sixth nine.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
I want to get your.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Calls if you're on hold, hanging there, We're gonna do
it for the back half of hour one. So if
you're not on hold, you better be. If you are,
let me quickly hit the other big story of the day.
So James Harden has opted into his contract, but it
also means that he wants to be dealt making make sense, right.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Oh you're in all right? Well, I drought.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
He's frustrated with the Sixers the way they've handled his
free agency. So it looks like he's on his way
to the Clippers or potentially the Knicks. So we'll get
to that coming up more in depth as the show
goes on. Plus, we're a little bit I don't know
it would it be twenty four hours less than that
from the start of NFL free NBA free agency?

Speaker 3 (18:30):
Excuse me?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
So we'll get to some of the news and notes
and the ins and outs and who we think could
be on the move and who won't be on the move.
But the NFL, the NFL today drop the hammer, drop
the absolute hammer, a leegendly on Isaiah Rodgers, Rashad Berry,
Demetrius Taylor, and others. After Isaiah Rodgers basically came out

(18:56):
and said, Yeah, I did something stupid and I'm gonna
be out of the league for a while. I apologize
to everyone that had affected I mean literally, Isaiah Rodgers
threw himself under the bus about I don't know two
weeks ago, and the story went somewhat quiet, But there's
a part I've got a horrible confession to make. I

(19:19):
do think the NFL has to work through maybe adjusting
its rules a bit, But I don't have a problem
with the tent pole kind of rules of it. You
can't bet on the NFL, you can't bet on props,
you can't be involved in daily fantasy. The stuff from

(19:41):
the facility I find to be a little bit goofy.
But if you can't wait until you're two hundred yards
away from the facility to actually place a wager, then okay.
But I have a real big problem with this, And
I don't know if I'm alone in this or not,
but I'll just I'll call myself out before you have to.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
These aren't big enough names yet for it to really
register with me.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Sorry, no fist, Isaiah Rodgers. Maybe listening tonight. It has
seemed kind of ridiculous that you've risked your career over
bets that I think your biggest bet you made was
a thousand dollars and a majority of the wagers were
twenty five to thirty bucks, And the thousand dollars prop
bet wasn't over under on a rushing yardage for a teammate, which,

(20:28):
by the way, pretty good bet because he woned. But
his bets ranged from twenty five to fifty dollars. The
thousand dollars wager was his largest. I just the NFL
has an issue with this, but I don't think it
registers with a majority of us when we're talking about

(20:49):
guys like Rashad Perry, when we're talking about guys like
Isaiah Rodgers. I mean, the closest thing we had was
what the Lions had to deal with Jamison Williams. But
from I mean even that, that's a rookie wide receiver.
I just, you know, Mike Florio. I like Mike a lot.
I think I think he will find though every so

(21:11):
often a he'll that he's ready to die on that's
already been like imploded, and he kept tweeting, oh my gosh,
so wait till you see and hear the name and
the amount of money that was wagered. And I'm sorry
it might sound shortsighted or even somewhat you know, non

(21:32):
caring or arrogant, but I see a thousand dollars bet
from Isaiah Rogers as his biggest bet, and it's not
something to where I'm like, oh, the integrity of the game.
I mean, Isaiah Rogers, what he can affect the outcome
of a game.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
I know, I get it. That's not the premise of it.
I get it.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Nicholas petite Frere six Game four betting on non in
a foul related events, right, you can bet, you can
bet on other games, but you just can't. You can't
get involved in doing it in your team facility, and
you can't get involved in doing anything that's near gambling

(22:14):
on the NFL. But do I think there is an
issue right now?

Speaker 4 (22:18):
You bet?

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Absolutely, there is the prefet you said it before we
started the show. The numbers are starting.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
To mount.

Speaker 7 (22:27):
This is now player number seven. I believe we're up
to correct.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Yeah, I think in the.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
NFL, the NFL was very insistent, very insistent. They made
this clear. If you're up to seven players, I don't
think it's that clear. And other players that haven't come
out yet have already said that they violated this as well.
So like, yeah, I'd agree with you though in that
I don't think at any point the integrity. It's not
like we're going to get the scene out of the
Last Cowboy, right.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Are the scene out of any of those. What's the
Adam Sandler Netflix movie that everyone lost their their mind about.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Oh, we're not near like a thirty for thirty on.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
The gambling issues in the National Football League or even
in any other sport or in college or I mean
college had this massive story on Iowa and Iowa stayed
and hundreds of athletes and then nothing came of it.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
Right, It's just it's we're dealing with it across culture
right now. We went overnight from you can't gamble on
sports anywhere except for a back alley bookie and in
Vegas too, Oh yeah, it's on your phone now. And
even the NFL very recently changes rules from no gambling
whatsoever to actually it's fine to do it in other sports.
But here's a bunch of league lee stuff that we're

(23:40):
just not going to tell you about.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
I want to go through the NFL rules for gambling
coming up in just a bit and see if we're
buying or selling them. But the NFL tonight announced a
handful of this afternoon and asked a handful of suspensions.
And I still don't think anyone looks at it and goes, yeah,
they've got a major issue. Maybe they do, maybe it
continues to grow, but once you get that big name,
I think everybody is going to freak out. And let's

(24:04):
let's be honest. Everyone, and I mean everyone has a
tie in some way, shape or form to an entity
that takes bats, barstool, DraftKings FanDuel I.

Speaker 7 (24:17):
Will say Lions fans are kind of freaking out.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Of bed, but I could understand why they would.

Speaker 7 (24:22):
But they also they are also like whining too and
saying this is very unfair that like because they they're
they're sure believe that at some point the NFL is
gonna have such a much enough of a problem that
it's not everyone gonna be getting six games, but Jamison
Williams is gonna get hit hardest.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Well, and it's not just to me, you know, it's
the reporting entities everyone.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
So now even the stories when they're maybe concerning it's ah,
you know, they might minimize that story just a little bit.
I think it's gonna be fascinating to see how this
is handled. But you know, one man whose news of
updates can't be affected, one man who can't be bought,
Eddie Garcia, who gets this caught up on everything that's
going on in the world of sports. What's going on, Eddie?

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Well, you covered James Harden and you talked about the NFL,
So let's go with Major League Baseball games. Of note,
you had the Arrays knocking off the Diamondbacks six to
one in a battle of division leaders. The AL East
leaders took two of three in the series from the
NL West leaders. Guardians lose to the Royals four to
three in ten so Cleveland drops into a tie for
first place in the AL Central with idle Minnesota. The

(25:25):
Brewers beat the Mets three two. Milwaukee moves into a
first place tie with idle Cincinnati for the top spot
in the NL Central. Rangers lose to the Tigers eight
to five. That's the AL West leaders splitting a four
game series with Detroit White Sox over the Angels nine
to seven. Despite Shoheo Tani for the Halos hitting is
majorly leading twenty ninth home run of the season, Pirates

(25:45):
beat the Padres five to four. Pittsburgh with a three
game series sweep. San Diego's dropped five in a row.
Marlin shut out the Red Sox too nothing Miami with
a three game series sweep. Boston's lost five in a row.
Phillies beat the Cubs three to one. Philadelphia with a
three game series sweep. Astro Is Hammer the Cardinals fourteen
and nothing. Alex Bregman hit a grand slam, Kyle Tucker
a homer, drove in five for Houston, and the Dodgers

(26:07):
had no trouble beating the Rockies fourteen to three. J D.
Martinez a home run and drove in four as well.
And Chris you talked about the suspensions for the gambling
in the NFL, there was another suspension. Jaguar Is starting
left tackle Cam Robinson a four game suspension for violating
the league's performance enancing drug policy.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Eddie, I have a question for you on this am.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
I off base in saying that no one really is
going to look at this gambling issue and lose their
mind until it's a bigger name or maybe no offense
to Jamison Williams profet, but maybe more known of a
skill player or somebody that's not you know, you're digging
through a roster to fake a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Yeah, a quarterback, right.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
I mean a quarterback would be huge, But I think
any known skill position play will get everyone's attention. These
these guys not at all, Not at all.

Speaker 7 (27:05):
Was Calvin Ridley that bar because that happened to Calvin
Ridley and there was some true But maybe it's because
Calvin Ridley was gambling on NFL games versus these guys
just you know, a training facility.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
I think people looked at Calvin Ridley as an anomaly,
but now obviously that's not the case. So I think
another player similar to him would be would get people's attention.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I think another part of it on Ridley too, guys,
was that he was already having some issues. Right, he
had missed a couple of games with the Falcons, and
I'm not, by the way, I'm not questioning his issues,
but he wasn't necessarily producing like he had been his
first season.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
So in other words, there were already issues around him.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
And then all of a sudden it's like, oh, okay,
so a gambling problem, and that's how people viewed it,
right Whenever in the end, he's like, I don't really
have a gambling problem.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
I broke a role. So it's maybe forgotten in that sense.
But does the NFL have a problem. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
If these numbers continue to rack up, maybe I wonder
too Eddie, is there an adjustment in the rules coming
to where these betting at the facility isn't frowned upon?
I just like the Wi Fi there it works quicker.
Or our facility is actually in an area where it's legal,
and I live in an area where I go across
the state line where it's now. I'm trying to come

(28:25):
up with any excuse to make it make sense. But
I wonder if they'll adjust some of their rules eventually,
because right now the ten pool rules are pretty simple.
Don't bet on the NFL, don't get involved in daily fantasy,
and of that, I think the six to eight rules
that they have, don't.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Bet from the team facility.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
We'll lay those out in a bit, I promise I'll
get to your calls eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven ninety nine six six three six nine,
as we come to you from the ti rack dot
com studios. You know what, I don't think I've ever
talked to Emmett. I think I've seen them on on Twitter.
But let's get em it from Olympia and to kick
off the phone tonight on the Ben Malors Show, Good Evening,

(29:07):
what's going on, man.

Speaker 6 (29:09):
Chris flank. Good to talk to you. Now, I actually
did talk to you. It was during the pandemic sometime
you were in this show. Uh, And it was like
my second ever call to the Ben Maller show, like
in like history now I.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
Call a lot and you know doing that.

Speaker 6 (29:23):
But I think we talked about like sea Hawks or
like the Commanders or something like. It was something like that.
One of my telling one of my friends that you're
in the night, like who I met through the show
and he's like, I'm in the call and I didn't
ye know it was here sea Hawks and Commanders. That's
that we talked about.

Speaker 8 (29:37):
But there you go.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
What's on tonight?

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Oh I'm going to call up with James Harnsing and
tell you guys brought the full gambling. And my thing
is if you're betting on NBA or you know, any
other said the NFL, I have no issue, and I think,
you know, these guys shouldn't be punished for it. You
see all these weird rules like, oh, they're betting in
the facility, like you're on your phone, like it's so easy. Now,
I Perfette was saying, and you guys are saying about

(30:04):
the steel players and I think that's huge. It's like
a top defensive guy like for example, like a Aaron
Donald or Jalen Ramsey or you know, one of those
twos where it's to get like Popps for that, I
think it would be a lot more of a big deal.
And I think the quarterback, like I think if any
like above average quarterback it's you know, caught gambling, it's.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
Going to be over for the league, Like the media is.

Speaker 6 (30:27):
Going to have a fit and the fans are going
to have a fit, and like we are, Like I'm
sure a lot of these stars now, like these big
name players are betting on games like you guys think
Travis Belt even thrown down money onto games like I
don't think NFL, but like NBA or MLB, he's definitely
throwing some money. Now, I mean, well, these guys have.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
To be well.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
And I also think Emmett that it's it's whether or
not the league views it as a problem right now.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
I mean, I don't know if they do. I feel
like what we're learning is the the fail.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Safe is that the proper term here, that the ferst
that they've put in to make sure that you know,
integrity is strong and the buffers that they put in
to make sure that they know if anything could be wry.
We're seeing that they're working. We're seeing that, hey, location,
it's working. We're seeing that even I could go back
to college and think about the Bohan and the Alabama coach,
we see that it's working. So maybe the NFL looks

(31:20):
at this and says, sure, we've got to do all
a couple of suspensions now, but in the end, what
we're doing to enforce this is working.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (31:29):
I guess you may may people a thought. But then again,
it's like gambling is so easy to do, and you
know that's kind of loob these people's points. And it's
so I can I can log onto an app right now?
You can, you know bet something like while I'm on
hold with you, I really wanted to think it's like
very easy to access. I think there could be some
changes being done. I think like the facility rules. I

(31:51):
don't know, they're probably seeing technical, but like I can
see him, you know, maybe taken out the like.

Speaker 7 (31:57):
Like other rules.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
There's all this.

Speaker 6 (32:00):
It's just all these guys are getting like a full year.
And then I thought this is interesting. Rogers, I'm the
other guy over I'm like what I was saying, that's
my that's the interesting part over.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Yeah, exactly, And I appreciate you call him, and it's
great to hear your voice.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Man, call call more often whenever I'm in for Ben
mallor the next time I'm in in twenty twenty four,
I don't find you know, the NFL and the NCAA
would tell you that these suspensions are proof. And I
say the NCAA because again we're still waiting for that
hammer to fall on the I n Iowa State Athletic Department.

(32:38):
When I say athletic department, I mean athletes, student athletes.
But in the in the end, what's happened is everything
that they have in place to ensure here's an overused phrase,
the integrity of the game.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
It's working.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
It's working because they're getting guys and gals before you
know it gets it's too carried away. Or when they
break the laws of the of the league period. I
mean there's no laws, there's no state laws, but the
laws of the league's the rules.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
Of the league.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
They would tell you their fail safes are working, their
rules are working, their bumpers are working. It's just not
a big enough name for any of us to be like,
oh my gosh. Someone on Twitter at Fox Sports Radio
at Plank show said, We've already had our big name.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
It's Ridley. I mean, fair enough.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
But even in the Ridley saga, like Eddie brought up,
like Profed brought up, you know, it wasn't as if the.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Whole world stopped.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
It's like, oh my gosh, all right, quick break when
we come back back to the phones eighty seven seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six
sixty three six ' nine.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
It's Chris Plank. That's me in from Ben Mallet right
here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (33:51):

millions of fans do the talkin Yeah, play the tape.

Speaker 3 (34:18):

Speaker 3 (34:51):
It's Chris Plank you big Fourth of July Guy, Eddie Garcia.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
Yes, me too.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
It's like number one, number one on my debt. Oh,
I know right, Yeah, it's always too hot. Though.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
I'm hosting people in my house, so that's never a
good thing. It means you gotta clean and do all
that fun stuff.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
Yeah, we usually do that, but my wife was indicating
that we're we may not do that this year, and
I'm like, well, I don't care who. I don't hear
who comes, but I'm going to be barbecuing.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
I'm going to be grilling, barbecuing.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
So whether it's whether it's a group of people or
it's you and me, or it's just me, I will
be barbecuing.

Speaker 7 (35:31):
I I like the barbecuing part of Fourth of July.
But at this point with my pets, oh, firework is
not hellpful, so I'm and then at that point it's
like we take away the fireworks. It's just basically, I
don't know. Memorial Day, yes.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Right, so you're just having a cookout.

Speaker 7 (35:47):
No, but cookouts are great. You have more, have more
holidays to have cookouts.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
It's it's probably my favorite holiday and there's no reason
why except I get to grill and drank a beer.
I mean, it's it's the one day where my my
kid don't count the number of beers I've had, and
it's the one day where it's just like you can go.

Speaker 7 (36:04):
Crazy and favorite Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
But Thanksgiving is like one a on that list. And
also here's the other thing. There's nothing expected of you
gift wise. Most holidays, you're expected to get a gift
for someone. Right on the fourth of July. I on Thanksgiving,
No Christmas, gotta have a gift. Eastern Night gotta have
a gift for the kids. Mother's Day, Mother's Day gift five, Well,

(36:29):
Father's Day, I don't get you any gifts, but yeah,
it's exactly New Year's Eve gifts for the kids.

Speaker 7 (36:34):
Celebrate the New Year. Wait gifts on New Year's Eve
for kids.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
There's some that do.

Speaker 7 (36:39):
Okay, no, no, I've just never done that.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
New Years the day.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
You know they're supposed to have like a big meal
and stuff like that or what is it the black
eyed peas or whatever You're supposed to eat something like that.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
It's supposed to bring you good luck.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
But yeah, I'm big Fourth of July guy, So I
am counting down to a celebration where I will eat.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Everything I possibly can. In the meantime, we're talking sports.
Yes I will not. I will not be smirched.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Ben Malors show by asking for everyone's favorite Fourth of
July side dish. I know Ben's a big fan of
those kind of segments. But what I will do is
hit the number one. At eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox, Andre from Massachusetts has been waiting patiently.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Andre. Good morning, Yes, good.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
Morning, and thanks for taking the call. Listen. You started
off talking about this this James Harden situation. And for
the Clippers. Look, if I'm the Clippers, and also my
New York next Contagoto is my favorite coach. But back
to the Clippers. I don't want anything to do with
James Harden. Listen, they got the richest owner in team
sports with Steve Balmer. They're moving into a brand new arena.

(37:43):
They've had these years of expectations and lack of fulfillment.
So what are you gonna do bring in somebody who,
in crunch time over the course of his career, has
never been present, not really interested in winning, more concerned
about igen mentioned. Absolutely not. If I'm the Clippers, it
sounds good, it's a nice storyline. Oh, James Harden is
from Los Angeles. Now he wants to come home. A

(38:05):
couple of seconds ago, we wanted to go back to
the Houston, where many establishments are referred to him as
the real MVP. Now all of a sudden he wants
to go to the Clippers, who are a serious contender.
Absolutely not. And by the way I mentioned this, I
was born in the great State of New Jersey. I
live in the Commonwealth. But Tom Thibodeau, the prior to
Salem state, that's my favorite coach the Knicks or my team.
We don't want anything to do with James Harden. We
got Jalen Brunston, a star that shows up, that believes

(38:28):
in working. So James Harden Houston I think might have
to be. I'm feeling like Houston doesn't even want James Harden.
That's where I think this is coming down to, because
m A and that organization is saying, we got young guys,
We're gonna build with what we have. It might be
that he doesn't have a landing place, but for a
winning organization Clippers, Knicks, James Harden, you gotta get your

(38:48):
back together. You're great for the regular season stats. You're wonderful.
Even though he killed my fantasy team this year. He
did do that because ged even he didn't want to
play with Joel mb that's a different story. But you
know you're not You're a regular see in you know, uh, exacts,
that's not the right word. Inflated stat type of a guy.
I can't have you on an organization that's committed to winning.

(39:08):
Thanks taking my call.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
Done good stuff. There's a no vote for Harden to
the Knicks. See I am, there is decision time to
be made for a lot of teams. I think I've
heard the term kind of fork in the road. Are
you going to be a team that is going for it?
Are you going to be a team that is just
consistently trying to rebuild? And I think that the Clippers

(39:33):
are reaching that point if they if they say they're
going to go for it, I think they'll be all
over James Harden. Boy, wen't Big Ben have to do
a one to eighty on James Harden when he ends
up with the Clippers, Right, That'll be a fantastic show
to listen to when that deal is finalized.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
But if you're the Knicks, is that move to try to.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Get past the Celtics and to try to a healthy
Milwaukee Bucks team? Or I mean it was the heat
that took him out of the playoffs? Is that move, Harden?
Or is that move you know, committing to more of
a couple role players? Is that move trying to go
make a splash and get in the Kyrie Irving conversation?

Speaker 7 (40:11):
Or is that move?

Speaker 2 (40:12):
Hey, let's let's be a little bit smarter about this.
Maybe we'll see if Hashimora is a guy that we
can end up making a play for don't know, but
I do know this, Go ahead and chalk Andre up
as a guy that wants nothing to do with James
Harden in New York. When we come back, more of
your calls, your tweets, and what's going on in the
NFL beyond just the gambling story on Fox
