I'm in a rare form tonight, Eddie. I just cracked
open a mountain dew.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
It's gonna be a lively show.

Speaker 6 (01:00):
Yourselves.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
Try to dial it back just a little bit. But
when the dew is flowing, I.

Speaker 6 (01:06):
Think different though, right, I mean, that's your drink of choice,
as far as I know it is.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I just don't crack it open every time, you know,
I just figure overnight hours need a little pick me up,
you know. So the de is uh, it's already flowing,

You a fan of going to movies? You a movie guy?

Speaker 6 (01:40):
I am. I do enjoy going in the movies. I
have not gone nearly as often as I would like
of late, for whatever reason. But yeah, I do enjoy
going to the movies.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Can you remember the last movie you saw?

Speaker 6 (01:52):
No, not all the time, not off the top of
my head.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
No, I don't think I can either. I'm not sure
about that. But how about this, how about going to
a movie theater to watch college football games.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
That sound like a great idea, Eddie.

Speaker 6 (02:08):
I mean, if you enjoy like a sports bar experience,
I guess then yeah, NFL games, college football games amongst
your fellow you know, fill in the blank fans. I
understand the appeal of it. I don't know if it
would be for me necessarily, but I could understand the

(02:29):
appeal of it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Apparently ESPN they're going to broadcast seventy five college football
games in movie theaters this fall. That includes some of
the New Year six Bowl games, so we're talking some
of the higher tier bowl games. You could go to
a movie theater. Now, I've never heard of this. Have
you heard of the Theater Sports Network? I've never heard

(02:50):
of this. Apparently that's where it's at.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
I've never heard the name of it, I'll put it
that way, but I've heard of the idea of it before.
I have a good friend who has always thought this,
this would be a great idea, and I think he
even thinks he may have come up with this idea
at one point, but I don't. I don't know that
it's for me, you know what I think it would
be good for. And I know they've had something like

(03:14):
this in many forms, but a big boxing match, although
you don't really hut a lot of big boxing matches anymore,
but remember they used to have like that closed circuit
thing that you could go and watch a big fight
in certain places. Maybe that was I'm kind of really
dating myself here, but the idea of it has been
around for a while, so I would be curious. I

(03:35):
think I'd probably enjoy it more though, if it was
just a quote unquote big game rather than my favorite team,
because I'm you know, I just don't want to be
bothered by other people when I'm trying to concentrate on
my team. But let's just say, for example, you know
USC Notre Dame is going to be a huge game
this year. Right, I'm not I'm not necessarily a fan

(03:56):
of either team, but I definitely will watch that game,
and that might be something I might be interested and
I could be talked into it. Let's put it that way.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah, maybe you'd go to the theater Sports Network to
check that bad boy out, because yeah, I could just
picture you if the Steelers are playing like the Ravens
or something, and you go to the theater and it's
just swarming with Raven fans.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
You're like, well, I'll be honest with you, even you know,
obnoxious Steeler fans. I don't want to be around. You know,
some of the guys that are like pissed off at
every little thing and overreacting. You know that, Like I
have a I have a buddy who's that and I
can't watch games with him. He'll just text me and
I can just ignore my phone if he gets too
out of control. Because he just flies off the handle

(04:38):
at every little thing, and we suck and we got
to fire this guy and trade this guy. And I'm
just like, I don't want to hear this, so I
just put my phone aside and ignore him until maybe
after the game.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
You know, it's funny you bring up that point. I'd
never even thought about that. Would you make the argument
that your own fans could be more annoying?

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Will Yeah?

Speaker 6 (04:57):
Some cases? Yeah, I mean, look I Steeler Nation, but
we're an incredibly spoiled fan base, and so I mean,
you know, it's one It's one of those things, Brian.
You know, most of the other fans are gonna be cool,
most of the other fans are going to be good,
But it only takes a couple to, you know, make
you just want to walk out or leave or say

(05:18):
I'm never doing this again. That's why I don't go
to sports bars anymore to watch games.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Hey, man, I hear you on that. Well, maybe the theater,
Maybe that's the way you want to go. I saw
a couple of quotes here I want to share with you.
So this is the theater. Sports Network President in COO
Scott daw He said in a statement we believe movie
theaters are the next great frontier for live sporting events,

(05:43):
and then he went as far as to say these
events will replicate the feel of a football stadium experience
as fans gather and phil theaters to watch the games
on the big screen.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
I don't know, Hey, maybe this will take off. I
don't think it's going to be huge.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
How does how do is alcohol sales? How's that gonna work?

Speaker 5 (06:02):
I don't know, but that's definitely has to be part
of it.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
We're gonna be parking lot of the movie theater.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Well, you got you gotta have everything that the sports
bar has at the movie theater. You gotta be able
to drink, you gotta have food, you gotta have service,
you gotta have all that stuff to replicate what you
have where you're just gonna go to the sports bar.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
You're gonna say, screw the theater. I'd rather go get
my drink on at.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
The sports bar, eat at the sports bar, all that
type of stuff. Week one, Eddie, you could go see
LSU Florida State, could see Clemson Duke so acc heavy
there you go games at the movie theater.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
I would maybe try. I would dabble, but I'm skeptical.
I'm skeptical it's gonna work.

Speaker 6 (06:45):
Yeah, and plus you know, I'm not not to try
and sound all bougie. But I don't think you have
to be rich to have an enormous TV. I have
a seventy inch TV. It's like a mini movie theater.
I mean it really is. I mean I have my
couch is five feet away from it. I feel like
I'm sometimes at the movies when I'm watching movies on TV.
So that's it really has. It really has taken away

(07:07):
from my theater experience. Now, if there's some big blockbuster
that's gonna look great on a gigantic screen, I still
want to go to the theater, but it's getting less
and less now.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Hey, man, I hear you on all that. Absolutely hear
you on that. If I go and check this out,
I'll report back to you. I'll let you know if
I'm like, yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:27):
Let me ask you this, I'll put you on the
spot a little bit. Is there a website or what's
the name of it again that I can go and
see where's my local theater that raises because I actually
have a theater that's not far from my house that
I love to go to, mostly because not a lot
of people go there. So if I could go there
and probably not be bothered because there's not going to

(07:49):
be a ton of people in there, that would be
even more of an appeal for me.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Yeah. I was just looking up Theater Sports Network.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
I just on my maps, you know, and it says
no results found on Google Maps. Try searching for something
else or in a different area.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
I don't know where they're at.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
I'm not sure where they're located exactly, but yeah, if
I stumble onto a website, I'll let you know about that.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
How about this too.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
I'm skeptical, Eddie, as I know you are, as the
football world is of the Arizona Cardinals having any shred
of success. They are getting their Philadelphia seventy six ers on.
They are channeling their inner seventy six ers. Remember the
old Hinky expression, trust the process. They're old GM there, Eddie,

(08:37):
That's what the Arizona Cardinals are doing. Yeah, yeah, this
is the NFL version.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
Now. They have released Colt McCoy.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Cult McCoy was not going to be among the top
five quarterbacks in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
We understand that.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
But they're either gonna start Eddie Joshua Dobbs or rookie
Clayton Tune those will be one of those guys is
gonna be your Week one starter at Washington. And so
while we don't expect huge things from Colt, it's not
like he's been killing it the last few years. At least,
it's experienced in that system or with that team at least.

(09:11):
But they pick up Joshua Dobbs and he's got a
legitimate shot to start in Week one. It's wild as
they are strategically positioning themselves for a potential run at
USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
I mean, there's no doubt that's exactly what they're doing.
I mean, and as much as I hate this as
a sports fan, I get it. I understand it. It's
not a terrible idea. Are the Cardinals going to be
very good with Kyler Murray this year? A healthy Kyler Murray?
They're going to be very good? No? No, probably not.

(09:46):
But it also does, you know, raise the question, and
we've seen the Cardinals do this before, how the hell
quickly they hit the eject button on Josh Rosen right there?
They seem very content with the idea. Of saying goodbye
to Kyler Murray. I suppose. I mean, I know that
on this show, Ben Maller is not the biggest Kyler
Murray fan. I'm a little hot. I'm a little hot

(10:07):
and cold on him. To be honest with you, I
don't know that he's a superstar ever gonna be one.
But I also don't think he's the worst quarterback in
the NFL as well. You can do some things occasionally,
but uh, I mean that's clearly what they're doing. They're
they're they're they're losing, and uh they're they're saying they're
not losing, but but they're going to lose. They're they're
obviously that's a strategy.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Oh they're gonna be brutal and by design. It's not
just Colt McCoy. They let Isaiah Simmons go, he was
a former first round pick. They got I think, like
a couple of footballs for the guy, you know, like
a like the gatorade mixture type that you want to
make your own sports stream. They didn't get anything for
Isaiah Simmons, former top ten pick.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
And uh, yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
The question is now, is Kyler Murray is this just
basically a red shirt season for him. Is he gonna
play at all? He's still on the pup, so he's
guaranteed to miss at least the first four games. We
don't know what he's gonna be ready after that ACL
injury Eddie. So let's say he's ready midway through the season.

(11:11):
If they're like one in seven or something like that,
why bother, why even have Kyler Murray play at all?
I don't know if he's gonna play at all this season.

Speaker 6 (11:20):
I think it's certainly possible, and they're certainly not going
to rush him back. I mean even let's just just
just assume for the sake argument that they want to win,
which we know they don't. But even if they did
want to win, he's not coming back like week week five, right,
He's has no practice time in this offense with a
new head coach, So it's gonna take I would think
a couple of weeks at least if you want to
be fair to him and just not throw him out there.

(11:42):
But yeah, I can absolutely see them just pretty much
shutting him down. Why and when if you're him, why
do you want to go out there to risk injury
for a team that's right tanking? To bring in your
replacement unless you want to audition for another team. I
guess next year, do you.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
I forget what it was called, but it was a
game on the Price is Right Rest in piece. Bob
Barker huge fan of that guy. That's when Price is
Right was at its peak. But there was this game
I think it was called punch Out, and so the
concept was you would punch four holes and inside there
would be a dollar amount on like a piece of paper.

(12:24):
And so I think the top prize at the time
was ten thousand dollars.

Speaker 6 (12:27):
A Bengole search says, punch a bunch? Does that sound right?

Speaker 3 (12:32):
I thought it was punch out, but something with punch
in it. If it's punching four holes, that's the game.
I'm talking about punch a bunch. But whatever. But there
there's this big like wall and you can punch four holes.
And so Bob Barker he would reach in and he
would get the first envelope right, and he'd be like, oh,

(12:52):
what one thousand dollars? Would you like to keep the
one thousand dollars or would you like to try to
get something better? So think about that as it relates
to the Cardinals. If it's Kyler Murray and Caleb Williams.
If you pull out that first envelope, what would it be?
If it's the top prize is ten thousand dollars, what

(13:15):
do you think Kyler Murray would be in terms of
quarterback quality relating to the game punch out or whatever,
punch something, whatever it's called.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
What do you think he would be? Like two thousand bucks?

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Maybe? So it's not like he's fifty dollars, right, We're
not making him out to be this scrub or something.
But I would try to get something better if I
know I've got a legitimate chance to land Caleb Williams.
That's exactly what I'm going to try to do. And
that's what the Cardinals are doing. They're making these strategic
tanking moves to try to put themselves in the best

(13:51):
possible position to get Caleb Williams. And it's not set
in stone. He's going to be a stud Eddie. No
one's saying that. But he's got a chance, and I would.
I would absolutely go down the Caleb Williams Boulevard.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
If they can't, they'd be crazy not to.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
And I I'm trying to put myself in the position
of a Cardinal fan, it's kind of hard to do.
Just like, honestly, I don't want to know this ump
that doesn't sound arrogant, but I would. I can't see
the Pittsburgh Steelers doing this, you know what I mean.
I just don't. It would be weird for them to
be in this position to intentionally tank it. Just it's
kind of not in their DNA to me. But if

(14:28):
I'm a Cardinal fan, I don't know that I'm necessarily
against this.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Now.

Speaker 6 (14:31):
If I'm a Cardinal season ticket holder, that's a different
that's a different response because I'm paying harder and money
to see garbage. Even if the future is going to
be bright, that money's gone and I'm never gonna see
it again. It's not like you can say, well, let
me put my season tickets on a hold till next year.
That doesn't It doesn't work that way. So I certainly
could see it from that perspective, because I am a

(14:53):
NFL season ticket holder, so I do think about those things.
But otherwise, though, if I'm just a regular Cardinal fan,
and I'm kind of you, I take a game to game,
maybe I go to a few games, or maybe I
just watch them on TV. It's hard for me to
be totally against this.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yeah, I mean, you're dancing with the football devil a
little bit here, There's no doubt about it.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
But as you mentioned with the seventy six ers, how
many NBA titles they won, Well, they have a guarantee
it's gonna work though, right.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
It doesn't know, it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
But man, when you've got a chance, look at all
the NBA teams that tanked for Wemby and the Spurs
won the Wembin Yama sweepstakes.

Speaker 6 (15:28):
And we'll see how that plays out.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
That could be a major asset going forward. And so
could Caleb Williams. Joel Embiid's been fantastic, just won an MVP,
but they haven't sniffed the title. I say for the Cardinals,
embrace the tank. I think you got it. I think
the Raiders would be smart to do that. I think
a lot of tea think about the Raiders in that
same division with Mahomes, but you got to have a

(15:50):
top flight quarterback, you know.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
So I think the Cardinals are smart. I think it's
the right thing to do.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Maler
Show weekdays at two am turn eleven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
How about Trey Lance?

Speaker 3 (16:07):
SETI Trey Lance, former forty nine Ers quarterback, now a
Dallas Cowboy.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
How about it?

Speaker 3 (16:14):
He is with the Dallas Cowboys and he says the
trade is a breath of fresh air. Breath of fresh air.
Let's let's hear a little bit from him. Here's Trey Lance,
not how I expect him to go.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
And now I think, you know a lot of people
expected it to go. But you know, I believe that
everything happens for a reason. I think I'm here for
a reason and regardless of what it is, just want
us trying to find a way to help the team.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
The thing, though, Eddie is how how is he going
to help the team Because he's still QB three right Like,
he's still behind not only Dak Prescott, he's behind Cooper Rush.
He's got to learn a brand new offense that's a
lot different than the one in San Francisco with Kyle Shanahan.
So there's gonna be a process. And it's just crazy.

(17:02):
This is where we are, two years from him being
the third overall pick and the Niners trading a boat load,
but what he calls a breath of fresh air, I
don't know, maybe a couple of years from now, probably
not ever, because he's gotta get on the field, and
he's got to play, and he's got to get those reps.
And as QB three, you're not gonna get those reps.

(17:23):
I don't see how this is going to be any better.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
No, and don't forget he didn't play much in college either, right,
I mean, this is a guy who desperately needs to
be on the field as much as possible. And you're right,
he goes from I think he goes to a worse
situation because in San Francisco, I mean, they're optimistic that
brock Purdy is going to be okay. But after the
way things went last year with all the quarterback issues,

(17:49):
maybe he would have a theoretically a better chance. I know,
Dak gets hurt too sometimes, but maybe he'd have a
better chance of actually getting on the field or at
least getting more reps if he stayed in San Francis.
So and plus, as you said, he doesn't have to
learn new system. He's comfortable there, you know, with learning
that offense. So I think he's actually in a worse
spot in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Yeah, because you got to start completely new. You have
to learn a brand new offense. So anything that he
had been building, you're basically like, okay, just kind of
put that to the side and focus on this whole
new system.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
Now that that is not easy.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
And I don't know how you get it down when
you're not getting reps. It'd be bad enough if he's
QB three in San Francisco not getting reps, but he
knows the system a lot better. Now he's QB three
with Dallas and he doesn't know the system. I don't
know how you get it down. Like, you can study
all you want, but until you're actually doing it, it's

(18:50):
not gonna sink in the same way.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
So it's just wild.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
And I go back to man Eddie, this is gonna
sound like crusty white guy logic. I don't mean it
like this at all. But if you rewind back to
the draft two years ago and I heard it left
and right, Oh, you gotta have mobility. Gotta have mobility.
Can't have a stationary quarterback like mac Jones. Mac Jones

(19:14):
was the better draft pick for San Francisco, as it
turns out you like Mac Jones has put up respectable
numbers with no weapons around him in New England. If
he's got Debo and Brandon, I, Yuke and George Kittle,
and I guarantee you that Mac Jones would be putting
up better numbers than he is in New England. And listen,
Mobility is great, but I think in the NFL, your

(19:37):
true bread and butter has to be throwing the ball, yep,
making quick decisions, accuracy, the whole thing. I'm not against mobility,
but I wouldn't make mobility out to be top of
the list when it's secondary. The rules are set up
for it to be a passing league, and a lot
of injuries occur when you're running around.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
We'd start off the show talking about Kyler Murray.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
It coming off of torn acl non contact injury running
the ball. It happens. So look, I just look at
think of a car. The engine of your football quarterback
car is throwing ability. All the bells and whistles, which
great sound system, you know, heated seats, whatever, all the

(20:20):
bells and whistles, that's mobility. It can absolutely accentuate your
throwing ability. But I think it's secondary. As far as
importance goes Eddie, I don't think it's a prerequisite.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
You've gotta have mobility.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
You've got to have a guy that's a precise passer,
makes good decisions, throws darts consistently, and that's not Trey Lance.

Speaker 6 (20:41):
No. I agree, And I know, for whatever reason, there's
been some debate, I guess about who's the second best
quarterback in the NFL. And we even talked about this
a couple of weeks ago, talking about Joe Burrow or
Jalen Hurts, And I think, you know, we're all pretty
much on the same page as that we would take
Burrow because of what you're talking about. He's a better

(21:02):
passer and it's a passing league. That said, I mean,
if you're going to be there is something to be
said for being mobile. And look, this era of the
NFL is more welcoming to having mobile quarterbacks and that
style of quarterback than it's ever been before. So there's
certainly a place in the league for those guys, which
is great, and there's certainly an extra element. I think

(21:25):
if you can run that, you do put pressure on
defensive coordinators. But when it's all said and done, when
it comes down to the fourth quarter and you got
to have a drive to get a field goal or
to get a touchdown. It's about what you can do
through with your arm through the air every time. So,
like you said, I agree with you. It's great to
have that option if you can have it, but in

(21:45):
the end, when it comes down to it, you've got
to be able to get those big plays with your arm.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah, man, And think about guys. Some of the top
five quarterbacks in the league. Mahomes is the number one guy,
Josh Allen of the Bills, he's somewhere in the top three,
top five. Those guys can put a lot of pressure
on you running the ball, extending plays. But they're great passers.
That's the thing. If they were just okay passers, you

(22:13):
can run around all you want. But the reason they
are top five guys is because they are outstanding passers.
And that's the thing with take a guy like justin
Fields with the Bears. For him to take a big
step forward, it's got to be passing. And we'll see
he's got DJ Moore, he's got a real weapon. Now
he wasn't surrounded by a whole lot, So we'll see

(22:33):
when they upgrade the talent around him if he can
get it done. But man, to take that leap forward,
you got to have that passing ability. That's the thing
with Russell Wilson. That's the main reason he's regressed so much.
He's not running around like he used to, and now
you're seeing the flaws in his game while he's trying
to be more of a pocket guy, and that's not

(22:55):
when he was truly special. So we'll see if he
goes back to running russ a little bit more, or
at least extending plays, because pocket russ leaves a lot
to be desired.

Speaker 6 (23:07):
Yeah, and I think there is a good distinction, though,
to be made between what a Patrick Mahomes does and
other you know, just running quarterbacks. I mean Mahomes runs
to throw right and right mean yeah. Occasionally, yes, he
will pick up a big first down if he can
with his legs, but mostly it's to stay alive in
the pocket or to extend a play and give one

(23:28):
of his receivers that extra couple of seconds to get opened,
so that it's a different kind of weapon as far
as his legs and what he does with it.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
By the way, this is what Jimmy Garoppolo had to say,
obviously now with the Raiders, but former Niners quarterback. He
was on with the Sports illustrateds Robin Lundberg. Here's Jimmy G.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
What did you make of the trade Lance? Trade to
doubt weird situations?

Speaker 2 (23:52):
That a lot of weird situations over there in San Francisco,
Just to leave it at that, but you know, I'm
happy to trade.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
Got another shot, man.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
How do you think San Francisco's handled those quarterback situations?

Speaker 5 (24:03):
How do you think they panel them? O? I think
it's been messy, I'll put it that way.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
That's a nice way took a Jimmy. That's a veteran
move there, turning the tables on the question he doesn't
want to answer.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Man, uh, this's got to be a trip from Jimmy
G's perspective, right.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Eddie or he's the guy.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
And it is amazing the success the forty Niners have
had with all of this trauma going on with Jimmy
G and with Trey Lance, and they still keep finding
away and finding another quarterback and getting it done. But
it has been messy. I think that's a pretty good,
pretty good term for what it's been there in San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
It is pretty good, and it's got to be a
trip for Jimmy G. Where he's the guy and they
trade a boatload to get Trey Lance and yet still
Jimmy G is the QB one. Then it gets hurt.
Then it's trade answers to no, he gets hurt. Now
it's brock Purty and he's with the Raiders.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
Now, Jimmy G. He's got to be looking at that.
That whole thing, like wow.

Speaker 6 (25:09):
Is forty nine ers have had success despite themselves, right
with what they've done at the quarterback position. I mean
they've They've screwed it up as bad as you can,
and yet they're still we think, okay with with brock perty.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
It seems like it, but I'm not convinced. I gotta
see more.

Speaker 6 (25:30):
I think that's fair. I am convinced. I don't think
he does what he does last year without being legit.
I'm not saying he is, you know, obviously a top
five quarterback or anything like that, but I'm I saw
enough that I'm a believer. But I think it is
fair for people like you to say I still want
to see a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
Yeah, I just I gotta see more, he had five starts,
and I'm looking at the quality of these opponents, Eddie.
So they beat Tampa, they went and beat Seattle. Then
it was the Commanders, the Raiders, and the Cardinals, you
know what I mean. And then we get to the

(26:11):
playoffs and okay, they beat Seattle, and then they survived
against the Cowboys, didn't put up many points at all,
and they got hurt against the Eagles. So it's like,
how can we be convinced he might end up being
an alright quarterback, But to be convinced that he's this
franchise guy, I'm just not there.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Man.

Speaker 6 (26:32):
Yeah, I think franchise guy is a little much, but
I think above average starting quarterback and frankly, I think
he can be as good as Jimmy Garoppolo. And they
went to a Super Bowl with Jimmy Garoppolo.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
So.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
Yeah, yeah, that's the thing is I think he's a
less good looking Jimmy G. Right, Like, they won a
lot of games with Jimmy G. But when it came
down to it and it's like, hey, we need you
to be special and make a play, Daniel Sanders is open,
get him the ball. We can win a Super Bowl
and he overthrew him, you know what I mean, Like,
I don't know why we'd be convinced that Trey Lance.

(27:09):
I'm sorry that Brock Purdy is better than Jimmy G.
He's gonna come through in a situation like that. Just
because he's mister Irrelevant and he exceeded expectations doesn't mean
he's ultimately gonna be better than Jimmy G. So time
will tell.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Man.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
I'm really excited to see what the Niners do this
year because it could really I think it could go
either way. People are convinced like they're set in stone,
they're gonna be a playoff team, They're gonna do major damage.
I don't know, Eddie, if you're not set at the
quarterback position, it's definitely not set in stone, and they
might not be.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
Would I would agree, And that's probably part of the
reason why they decided to keep Sam Darnold right over
over Trey Lance. If they were convinced that Purdy was,
without question, the guy and the future, then maybe they decide,
you know what, let's keep Trey Lance and continue to,
you know, because of what we paid for him, continue

(28:07):
to work on him, have him be the number two guy.
Have him get more reps. But they were like, no,
I think, you know, Sam Darno might we might need
him so and plus pretty we don't know that he
is definitely one hundred percent healthy right that that's going
to work out. I'm still concerned about his throwing arm.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
That's the thing, man Eddie is Perdy helps. It was
a huge swing in a miss with the whole Trey
Lance thing, but Purdy softens the blow as of now,
like he filled.

Speaker 5 (28:38):
In admirably last season. He softens that blow.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
But just imagine what the Niners might have been able
to do with all those draft picks, you know, with
all that compensation, Like the Dolphins, they turn those picks
into what Tyreek Hill, Jalen Waddle they traded into, like
in Bradley Chubb, legitimate players, like top players. It wasn't

(29:06):
all just those picks. They needed a little bit more,
but they used those first rounders primarily for those guys.
The twelfth overall pick which the Niners originally had, that
turned out to be Micah Parsons. Yeah, that's crazy. If
the Niners just hit on one guy like a difference maker,
imagine they hit on two where they would be with

(29:28):
a stacked roster, so that's still a gigantic swing in
a miss.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
No, there's no doubt. And if it's not for Brock Purdy,
there's some people losing their jobs right now right he
has uh, he's kept some people employed there in San
Francisco by lucking out on hitting on.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
Him man big time. Absolutely no doubt about that.

Speaker 6 (30:57):
So, there was apparently some sort of shooting incident at
a White Sox game the other day. Have you guys
seen the details on what happened with this? Yeah, for
those who don't know, there's a report that it was
an accidental discharge of the firearm. There were two women

(31:18):
that were injured in this incident, and apparently one of
the women snuck the gun into the ballpark. And how
she did it is the jaw dropping part.

Speaker 8 (31:34):
Sorry, I don't know the I don't know what happens here.
I'm on the edge of my seat, Coop.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
According to reports, she snuck in the gun past the
metal detectors, hiding it in the folds of her fat
Not what I thought you were gonna say. I still no,
it isn't exactly where you were going with it. But still, okay,
so many questions here?

Speaker 9 (32:01):
All right, okay, My first question is the metal detector
would have still gone off, wouldn't you think?

Speaker 4 (32:05):
So?

Speaker 9 (32:06):
They're like Oh, it's something in her, like a something
like a screw in her knee or something.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
Right, I don't know. I get well, my wife had
a recent replacement, and when she goes to the metal
detector at Disneyland, she does, you know, say I have
a knee replacement, and they're like, go.

Speaker 8 (32:21):
On, well, and then also, let me ask you this
though they're they're wanding her down right? How many how
many security employees of the ballpark do you know that
are gonna like reach under.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
The folds and they ain't paying me enough for that.

Speaker 5 (32:40):
We gotta check those folds from now on.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Though, or do you?

Speaker 6 (32:45):
I mean, I guess it's kind of going to be
like the airport. Now, are you got to take her
into a into a room and have another female employee?
Good god, I mean him jump up and down?

Speaker 5 (33:03):
What falls out? We can't have guns being stuck in
the games though.

Speaker 6 (33:09):
We cannot, No, we cannot. Yeah, why did why why
do you not want guns? Why does why does she
sneak my gun into the game? I don't a good question.
I mean, you know, insert your joke about Chicago violence here.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
I guess you know, yeah, that is crazy side, it's wild.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
What happened in the Braves game too on Monday night
against the Rockies, where those two fans, it's like they
were they're just basically space invaders with Ronald Acuna Junior.
They ran up to the guy. One was just hugging him,
the other guy wanted a selfie. He's just in right field,
he's ready to start another inning, right and uh, they

(33:54):
just knocked him over.

Speaker 6 (33:56):
Well, the security kind of he did. He just I'm
just gonna stand here. I'm not gonna do anything, you guys.
I'm just gonna let security take take this. And then
the security they were trying to grab the guy and
then and then he knocked over. So you might want
to just I don't know, it doesn't look very manly
to run away, right, But when you're being approached by

(34:18):
someone you don't know what they want, I think that's
probably probably the best move, just avoid them.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Yeah, it's a little bit like it was a grade
school eddie. Did you ever have that where the friend
would like be behind and you justly like shove your
friend like past the guy underneath. Does that make any sense?
I don't know if I'm describing it exactly. Well, but
that's a little bit how it was there was just
someone behind a Kunya Junior and he just barely got tapped.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
And because of that, he's.

Speaker 8 (34:50):
Just all the and all the headlines say fan tackles
right Kuna Jr.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
No, that didn't happen, but still they were that was
just yard.

Speaker 6 (35:00):
What's wrong with people? I just want to go Viral
selfies are very important, sam as you.

Speaker 9 (35:06):
I just feel like the last few years, people are
like fans and people are just have they they're not
thinking clearly, well.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
Yeah it's or they or they just care so much
about their five minutes of fame that they're willing to
do just about anything to get it.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
Yeah, social media does drive something.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Yeah, that's the thing is because your your five minutes
is more like five hours now.

Speaker 9 (35:28):
You know, five hours incarcerated, Well you're gonna pay for it.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
They're facing a trespassing and disturbing the peace charges. Those
two fans I love MLB MLBPA. They're like, we got
to review these safety protocols. After the gun incident at
the White Sox game and Ronald Kunyer Junior being approached
and confronted by two fans, like yeah, we we should

(35:53):
probably check into these safety protocols. I would say it's
probably a good uh good time for a review over
the yeah,
