We're gonna bring one of my time on or traditions
that we do every Saturday night at midnight. Check that
two am Pacific, five am Eastern on the Saturday night
edition of the Bernie Frattle Show. You see, because I'm
sure folks can relate to this. You observe things, you

(01:12):
watch the news, you hear, you watch, you observe that's
the Department of redundancy department. And what am I getting?
Where am I going at? Where am I going with this? Well,
every day in this fine land of ours and around
the world, people do things. They engage in activities. Sometimes
they are odd, weird. Sometimes they are just you know,

(01:34):
very very innocuous, very innocent, but they're stupid. Other times
they're very serious, and they can even land folks in jail.
But anyway, it slice it any way, you describe it,
any way you characterize it. Well, these events they always
leave you scratching your head and asking yourself.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
What kind of brand new fool of you? So, what
kind of brand new fool are you?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Oh? Yeah, it's the creepiness of the night continues after
Patrick mahomes underwear and people drinking urine and Okay, can
I get weird? Or well, I think it can. Actually,
Let's take you to Baxter County, Arkansas and introduced you
to a fifty five year old Theodore Morgarvan. Well, the

(02:22):
night started out normal enough, unless it didn't. Somewhere around
twelve forty five am, a Baxter County deputy noticed that
there was a car at a commercial storage facility in
Midway wherever the hell that is. Well, the deputy approached
the car. It was walking back and forth. Well, they

(02:45):
saw mister Morgavan in the car, getting busy with a
stuffed animal. Can't make this stuff off, folks. The deputy
was able to arrest mister Morgarvan and search his car.
And that's where it gets interesting, if it already wasn't interesting.

(03:06):
According to investigators, the deputy found a purse, a purse
it had drug paraphernalia in it. Then, after going to jail,
investigators continued to search the purse found three grams of meth.
The moorga Van appeared in court, entered a not guilty plea.
He scheduled to appear again in about three weeks. Imagine

(03:28):
that he was charged with two constant possession of a
controlled substance, public sexual indecency, possession of drug paraphernalia, and
bringing drug paraphernialia into a government facility. I'm not going
to sleep tonight. The part I can't get out of
my mind. The officer approached a rocking car because he

(03:49):
was getting busy with a stuffed animal, Mister Theodore Morgavan
of Baxter County, Arkansas, what kind of brand new what
a fool of you? All right, Jeff Kevin Wire, you're
up next.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Well, we all know that flying this time of year
is incredibly stressful with the holidays and the crowds, and
it gets even.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Worse when you've got unruly passengers.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
Well, this was on a Frontier Airlines flight from Florida
to Philadelphia involving an unidentified woman who was irate, had
been confrontational with several passengers, threatening to kill them. And
it was all because she wouldn't sit in her assigned
seat or she was told to sit in her assigned seat.
So what did she do? And apparently she was told

(04:34):
she couldn't use the bathroom, so she decided to pull
her pants down squat in the middle of the aisle.
And it wasn't until that all the other passengers protests
that she decided to pull them back up. No word
on whether or not she intended to drink that year.
And so, unidentified woman from Florida, what kind of brand
new fool are you?

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Is this? Just recently? Like this? Thanksgiving me a weekend?

Speaker 5 (04:55):
I didn't say exactly the date, what it is in
the story that I'm reading.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
So because I've been wondering what my ex wife was
doing this weekend. Good night, folks, Just kidding, just kidding.
I've only been married once and I'm still married. All right,
nicely done, nicely done, although I don't know how the
Frontier Airlines people feel about that, you know, especially that
got to interfere with that cart coming down the aisle.
I hopefully didn't have during drink service. Can you imagine

(05:19):
what did you have? Suro? I had a Oh my god,
with this lady' squen you had a year and no
or not that not not tonight? Okay, all right there,
say you've got some good something good for us.

Speaker 6 (05:30):
I bet, I hope, I hope. So we're gonna stay
with the Thanksgiving theme. There was this family. They were
eating Thanksgiving dinner and Grandpa decided, hey, I want to
fix the dishwasher because the dishwasher was broken.

Speaker 7 (05:44):
So Grandpa goes, grabs.

Speaker 6 (05:46):
His tools super glue, and it's a knob that's a
little fallen off. Grandpa ends up super gluing his hand
to the dishwasher. So now the entire family is trying
to figure out how are we gonna get Grandpa's hand
disconnected from the dishwasher. So Grandpa goes, I'll just take
it apart and we'll go to the hospital. So what
they do is they take apart the door, the front door,

(06:06):
and piece by piece and carry him with the door
still attached to him into their into their car, into
the back of their car because he didn't fit in
the front of their car, drive them all the way
to the hospital, and they went. They wait several hours
just because it is Thanksgiving. There isn't a lot of
nurses as well, there's a lot of people. Three hours
goes by, and then a nurse comes by and she's like, oh,

(06:28):
what can I help you guys with?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Three hours?

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Three hours goes by. The nurse comes up, She's like,
what can I help you with? They're like, oh, this
is my grandfather. His hand is stuck to the dishwasher.
She's like, Oh, what all you need is some nail polish.
You'll come right off. So they get the nail paulush
and it comes right off. And what I'm thinking is,
why would you take a part a dishwasher when you

(06:53):
could just look it up? I mean, Google's a thing, right,
So when I'm thinking here, Grandpa really just want to
take something apart and put something back together. So Grandpa,
what kind of fool are you?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
And why are you use some super glue and a dishwasher?
What's this thing?

Speaker 6 (07:08):
So I guess the knobs, you know how like one
of the knobs like to like turn it in all
that like that fell off. So the grandpa was trying
to super back on and he's super glued his left
hand to the to the door like the door handle.
So then he had to take off the entire door
from the dishwasher and carry that for hours on end,

(07:29):
just for a nurse to be like all you need
is they didn't even go into a room. The nurse
literally just got some nail polisher and then just put
remover and put it on.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
I gotta tell you, I think Grandpa was sniffing that glue.
But that's just that's just my opinion, you know, all right.
And what part of the country was Eddian?

Speaker 7 (07:49):
It just said Middle America?

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Middle America.

Speaker 7 (07:53):
Well, how to love Middle America?

Speaker 3 (07:55):
You gotta love Grandpa.

Speaker 7 (07:56):
Gotta love Grandpa.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
I mean, that's why I call handyman. I got time.
I ain't. Maybe I'll call Grandpa, but just don't bring
your damn super glue. All right. Fortunately, fortunately my ditchwasher
appears to be working. Best. I can tell another rousing
edition of what kind of brand new fool is in
the books? Hope you enjoyed it, which leads us to

(08:19):
our second favorite bid every Saturday Night, that we lovingly
refer to as what my name? So, all guy, all
three guys will participate tonight. Now, this first one's tough,
but it's one of those trivia ones. If you know it,
you know it. If you don't, you don't, but you
might actually know it. I am the since we have

(08:42):
the Michigan O House State coming up game coming up Saturday,
and we've been talking about a lot tonight, I am
the original designer of the famous winged helmet, winged helmet
that Michigan wears, the yellow winged helmet. I'm the designer
of that, and also one of the greatest college football
coaches of all time, Kevin Wyatt.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
What my name, I'm guessing Bochemblecker.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
No, he's a good coach, but they had the wing
helmet well before that. All right, I'm the original designer
of the famous yellow winged helmet that the Michigan Wolverines
wear it. And one of the greatest coaches of all time,
Mark Ramsey. What my name?

Speaker 2 (09:20):
All I have is Bosha and Beckler too.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
That's it, all right, you guys, all right, I'm the
original designer of the famous Michigan winged helmet and one
of the greatest Michigan coaches of all time, Shay.

Speaker 7 (09:32):
What my name Ted Lasso?

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I love it? I love it like Patrick Sweeker with
Trevor Bauer. It's actually Fritz Chrysler. And if you google
Fritz Chrysler. And by the way, the basketball arena at
Michigan is Chrysler Arena, not spelled like the car Chrysler.
It's c R I s l e R. Okay, that
was a tough one. Let's dial it down just a bit.
I recently became the first player in NBA history to

(09:58):
score thirty nine thousand points. Kevin Wyrett, the chef, what my.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Name Lebron jans Boh, there we go back on track.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
So he says, all right, these are a little tougher,
but if you well, I'll tell you what. Let's just
let her rip because it's trivia. Barry Sanders made his
NFL debut in nineteen eighty nine, and he took his
first ever NFL handoff from me as I was the

(10:32):
starting quarterback that day, Mark Ramsey, what my name?

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I can only think of Kramer.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Oh, you're not too far off. He was a couple
of years later. This guy started by the way. On
Thanksgaming Day in nineteen eighty nine, Barry Sanders took his
first ever NFL handoff for me as I was his
quarterback Berry's rookie year Shae mogenbar What my name?

Speaker 7 (10:56):
Patrick Mahons in his underwear?

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Nowur cooking? Barry Sanders took his first ever NFL handoff
for me. I was his quarterback during his rookie year
back in nineteen eighty nine, Kevin Wire What my name?

Speaker 5 (11:09):
Well, I'm not two versed on Lion's quarterbacks and I
can't remember the name. So I'm gonna go with the
guy that you mentioned. Was upset about the documentary.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Oh, Scott Mitchell, No, he got there. He got there
five years later. Actually, a guy by the name of
Bob Gagliano. Bob Gagliano and Lions fans would remember that.
But all right, this will be a little easier one.
Well maybe not. So. Let's fast forward to Barry's final game.
Barry's final game they lost to the Ravens nineteen to ten.
Never played in the NFL again. I was the starting

(11:40):
quarterback and Barry Sanders. I was the starting quarterback for
the Lions and Barry Sanders' final NFL game. Mark Ramsey
wasn't my name.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
I'm gonna say. The answer is Mark Ramsey, not bad.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
I think there was a quarterback you can only make
up the named Mark Ramsey would maybe maybe it was
Jeff Rams Anyway, regardless, I'm gonna get you guys a
I'm gonna give you guys a clue. And I should
have probably given Mark this clue. He's currently a head
coach in the NBA in the NFL, excuse me. I
was the Lions starting quarterback in Barry Sanders' final NFL
game versus the Baltimore Ravens. Shay, what my name? Oh man,

(12:25):
current head coach? Currents taken gig, I don't know. I
was the Lions starting quarterback for the Lions. That's the
department of redundancy department in Barry Sanders' final NFL game
versus the Ravens. Kevin Wyrett, the chef, What my name?

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I'm gonna guess. Frank Reich.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
You got it, Frank Reich, I do Frank Reich. Now,
you guys get a kick out of this one. Okay,
So remember the Lions lost to the Ravens that day.
Nineteen to ten. I was the starting quarterback for the
Ravens versus Barry Sanders in his final NFL game, Mark Ramsey,

(13:08):
what my.

Speaker 7 (13:08):
Name is it?

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Flacco?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Not Joe Flacco, but he did play for Baltimore a
few years later. I was the Ravens starting quarterback for
versus Barry Sanders in my final in Barry Sanders final
NFL game. Kevin Wyer, what my name?

Speaker 5 (13:31):
I'm just gonna guess. Trent Dilford, You're not too far off.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
But that's not that vintage came a little bit later. Okay,
we'll see if Shay can saved the day. I was
the Ravens starting quarterback versus Barry Sanders in his final
NFL game. Seam Ogngar, what my name?

Speaker 2 (13:52):
I cannot save the day.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Believe it or not, guys, it's Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harball
was the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens December twenty seventh,
nineteen ninety eight, and Barry Sanders played his final game
in the NFL. All right, let's fast forward. We are
now going to do college basketball, and you might want
to get you guys might get this one because it's

(14:17):
a little bit more contemporary. I, as a college basketball coach,
have won more games in my first two years than
any other college basketball coach in history at their new school.
Mark Ramsey, What my name?

Speaker 2 (14:37):
I'm gonna guess, Larry Brown.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Not Larry Brown. Give you a clue. He's a current coach.
I've won more games in my first two years with
the school than any other college coach had done so
in history. Sean Mogangard, What my name? Mike Krazuski, Oh,
you're thinking of Makryzewski for me, no memory, he's a

(15:00):
current coach. Krzyzewski's not a current coach, but a for
effort we'll give you. All right, Let's see if Kevin
Wire at the chef can save the day. I've won
more games in my first two years as a head
coach at their new school than any of their college
basketball coach in history.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
Kevin Wired, I know he is because he got off
to a great star.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Brian Dutcher, ooh, good one. San Diego State, not him.
This guy won sixty six games his first two years.
He beat the Michigan State Spartans today is the head
coach of Arizona. Arnie's Arney's favorite school. Tommy Lloyd. Tommy
Lloyd the former assistant at at Gonzaga. And I don't
know if you saw Arizona today. They handled Michigan. Michigan

(15:43):
State made a competitive but Arizona, Arizona was never in
trouble and beat him. Okay, last one. Let's go back
to football, guys, and I think you guys are gonna
get this one, all right. I'm the only player in
NFL history. I'm a linebacker, the only player in NFL
history to court a hundred or more tackles every season

(16:04):
in my first twelve seasons in the league. Mark Ramsey,
what my name?

Speaker 2 (16:11):
I'm gonna go with LT.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Oh, good one. Not Lawrence Taylor, but that's a good one.
I'm the only player. I'm gonna give you guys a
clue he's still playing. I'm the only player in National
Football League history to record more than a hundred tackles
or hundred more tackles every season for my first twelve
seasons in the league. Kevin Wyrett, what my name?

Speaker 5 (16:31):
Thinking it's probably gotta be a linebacker. I'm gonna guess
Bobby Wagner.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
You got it's Bobby Wagner.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Yeah, pull that one out of the blue.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
Yeah, that was good the minute the minute he said
he's still in the league too, is Bobby. I thought
it was Ray Lewis at first, but then when he
said he's still in the league, I was like, oh, yeah,
Bobby Wagner, and.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
I do believe I did mention it was linebacker. Regardless.
It's a pretty good effort there, guys. A good good job.

can't think of the name of that player, Shaye, what's
his naming? I think he played in the Mount West
Conference here, played against.

Speaker 7 (19:27):
Schools like sorry say that again.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
There was a day trial with the name of the
gentleman who's gotten all those interceptions for Dallas Play of
the Day. I believe he played in the Mount West
Conference here. If I'm not mistaken, Don Bland, Doron Bland,
thank you? Does it Shore he went to college because
he anyway, I'm pretty sure again, I'm pretty sure he
played in the U in the Mount West Conference, and

(19:52):
I I was kind of make note of that because
you don't think of he.

Speaker 7 (19:54):
Look he went to Sacramento State and Fresno State.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Fresno State, so he did play and wow, look now
he's he's in the uh in in the National Football League.
By the way, guys, all the three games, look, they
were all divisional games. They were all uh you know,
divisional leaders. Uh. Two of the three, Well they took
care of business, right, but one did not. And you

(20:20):
heard me back on the Lions earlier and for good reason.
So just curious to shay any takeaways you had from
the games today.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Yeah, So, I mean, I had the overnight last night,
so I decided to wake up a little bit early
to turn it on, and it I was really expecting
the Lions put on a performance against Jordan Love. Yes
they did lose against seven, like just seven, I guess,
but it's still like it just.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
But they were they were seven and a half point favorite,
they'd been in Green Bay four times in a row.
They were coming off a game where they they came
you know, they had turned the ball over four times
against the Bears and still won, and so I thought
they'd come back with Maxiff for anyway, can he I
didn't mean to.

Speaker 6 (21:01):
Jump, No, no, you you basically just took the words out
of my mouth. Like I It was just insane to me.
I was like, is this is this for real? And
then it's funny because I had Thanksgiving and like Thanksgiving,
they're they're from Detroit and they're visiting and he he
knows that I work in sports as well, and this
guy was just distraught. He it it seemed like he
didn't want to talk to anyone, and I knew why,

(21:22):
but I just it's I Lines fans should honestly be ashamed,
and like, this is a very important day for Lions fans.
It used to be the biggest day for them when
the lines weren't doing too hot, and now that they're
doing hot and they're doing well, and they don't show up,
especially against Jordan Love. Is I mean, yeah, Jordan Love's
not horrible, but it's like, come on, like, are you serious?

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Well, you know, I probably you know Jordan Love a
bit of an apology. I've been on him. I've wrote
him like a rented mule because he's never really shown, frankly,
that he could consistently be a major league quarterback. But
he's done it three games in a row. Now and
the truth of the matter is he looked very comfortable today.
He looked very confident. He's the big reason why that

(22:05):
offense clicked the way it did, and they did whatever
they want whenever they did. So it's not, you know,
so much that the Lions lost, it's how they lost. Frankly,
they were pushed around the field. That's a fact.

Speaker 7 (22:17):
I completely agree. I completely agree.

Speaker 6 (22:19):
And then the Seahawks Niners game, that was something also
that I wasn't expecting. I mean, yeah, I was expecting
the Niners to win, but honestly not by that much.
And yes, Kenneth Walker is out, but Sharvada did a
great job. I mean he yeah, he didn't get like
the numbers or the fantasy points that everyone wanted. But
as a rookie quarterback coming straight out UCLA, I mean
that quarterbacks are running back coming straight out UCLA. I

(22:41):
mean I lucked what I saw. And that was probably
one of my favorite parts of today was just watching
Zach Sharboney like be a featured back, especially after hearing
everything about him. That was probably my greatest take from today.
But again, the Niners were the Niners. I mean, like
brock Party had that interception and he looked like Brock Party.
But I don't know, like after today, I don't think
rock Party should still I mean, maybe he should still

(23:04):
be in the MVP, but I don't know.

Speaker 7 (23:05):
I really don't know.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Well, let's let it play out. I mean, he's done
a hell of a job and I'll tell you what.
Speaking of quarterbacks, there was a quarterback who played forty
five games in wake Forest, transferred to Notre Dame and
played twelve and he played against his old team in
wake Forest's final game of the season and wake Forest
and their coach, a highly respected guy named Dave Clawson,

(23:29):
had some very pointed comments to make. Shay's going to
share that with us coming up, but first let's go
back to our guy, the chef, Kevin Wyatt with the latest.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Yeah for me.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
Actually, these games went largely as expected, except for that
Packers and Lions game to open up the day and
really kind of took the luster off the Lions season
they've had so far, because they entered eight and two
when we're looking like they were one of the top
teams in the NFC, maybe behind the Eagles. But today
against the Packers, Jordan Love who it really hasn't shown

(24:01):
himself to be an elite quarterback by any means, had
himself a really pretty good game. He threw four two
hundred and sixty eight yards and three touchdowns as green
Bay jumped out to a huge lead. It was twenty
to six after one quarter, twenty three to six at halftime,
and I mean give credit to the Detroit defense for
making their adjustments at the break to hold green Bay

(24:22):
to just six points in the third quarter and scoreless
in the fourth, but too little, too late, as it
was just eight points each in the third and fourth quarters.
The Lions come back and stept, falling just short twenty
nine to twenty two.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Cowboys Commanders.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
That game really wasn't a surprise, just because there's been
a lot of speculation regarding Ron Rivera's future as head coach,
and it's because the Commanders just haven't been performing well
this season, and it's really it really was punctuateed on
Thanksgiving with a forty five ten beatdown by the Dallas Cowboys,
Dak Prescott carving up that Washington defense for three hundred
and thirty one yards and four touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
And of course we were talking about Deron Blair.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
And getting that pick six the fifth of the season
for him. That is a new single season NFL record.
The Cowboys now eight and three on the year, and
then the forty nine Ers and Seahawks, and this one
actually kind of did go a little more as expected
because Gino Smith did play in that game, but he
had been questionable on his availability for this game because

(25:22):
of the hit he took by Aaron Donnell to cause
him to miss most of the fourth quarter last week,
and he played today didn't really look like himself, however,
he only had one hundred and six one hundred and
eighty passing yards and an interception a quarterback rating of seventy.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Brock Perty played adequately. He did have that pick six.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
Otherwise, he did have two hundred and nine passing yards
and a touchdown Christian McCaffery doing what he does otherwise
one hundred and fourteen rushing yards and to a touchdowns.
Also had twenty five receiving yards to add on to it.
But the forty nine Ers do win it thirty one thirteen.
They moved to eight and three and they have just
have a firm grap on that NFC West. The Seattle

(25:59):
Seahawks now now clinging for a wildcard spot. They're currently
in the playoff field, but they are Their lead over
the Rams has a shrunk as for call it or
for football injury news in the NFL Athletic reporting that
Justin Jefferson will not play against the Bears. He's been
still been on injury reserve and they're not going to

(26:21):
activate him yet. This week, Rams wide receiver Cooper Cup
he has a sprained ankle. He returned to practice on
a Thursday. Ravens wide receivers A Flowers was limited to
practice Wednesday. He did not practice at all Thursday. And
in college basketball, we had a few ranked teams in
action on Thanksgiving. Number fourteen North Carolina falls in overtime
to Villanova eighty three eighty one. Number three Arizona outscores

(26:42):
number twenty one Michigan State seventy four to sixty eight.
Number nineteen Florida Atlantic over Butler ninety one eighty six.
Twelveth rank Texas A and M tops Penn State eighty
nine to seventy seven in Colorado State upsetting number eight
Creighton sixty nine to forty eight.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Back to you, Bernie, all right, good stuff, chef, great performance, tonight.
As always for some schools, the college football season is
now over and for some that won't be going to
bowl games. Well, if you followed Wake Forest football over
the last several years, they hired a coach they named
Dave Clawson, and my buddy, Larry Sorenson is part of

(27:17):
the broadcast team for Wake Forest and he does color commentary.
And Dave Clawson is not only one of the most
successful coaches in Wake Forest football history, he's a really bright, interesting,
thoughtful guy, very quotable, and I genuinely think he has
some very serious thoughts about the current state of college

(27:40):
football with the NIL and the transfer portal and the
way things have changed because it cost him a quarterback.
And before I go any further, we have our commentary
and I'll bring in the crew. I want you folks
to hear what Dave Clawston had to say following his
loss to Notre Dame last week.

Speaker 10 (27:55):
Give it a listen, reality, and there's no point in
complaining about it.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
You know, we saw it last week in South.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Bend, right.

Speaker 10 (28:04):
I mean it's you know, here's a guy that we
recruited and we developed, and you know they're putting a
video on him. Saying we will always love you, and
I'm like, you only dated him for a couple of months.
It can't be love. We're the ones that love him.
We had five years with them. You rented them for
a season, so you know, and they bought him and

(28:26):
rented him for a year and now they love him.
So it's uh, you know that that when that video played,
it's just like, holy cow, this is where college football
is so about to go off everywhere whatever. I'm past
the point. I mean, it is what it is, right
And again, you know, Sam and I had a great

(28:47):
discussion before the game and after the game, and you know,
I love the young man, I really do. And I
don't blame him at all for what he did. I mean,
you can't have that's the system now, and for him
to have the opportunity, you know, to have that experience
and make that type of money in one year, who
can fault him?

Speaker 3 (29:08):
So let's unpack this for just a second, because Dave
Clauson is a highly respected guy, and I get it
this is coming off as sour grapes with some folks,
but you have a guy, Sam Hartman and you've all
heard of him. They bring him in at wake Forest.
They did develop him. He started forty five games over
four years through for twelve thousand yards plays one year

(29:31):
at Notre Dame. Went there to you know, elevate his
draft profile. Whether or not it did that remains to
be seen. They beat Wake Forest in their final game.
And how cheesy is this? I Will Always Love You
by Whitney Houston for the movie Bodyguard thirty one years ago,
blaring over the loudspeaker. I guess I wasn't there. You know,

(29:52):
we have a guy on our network, Brady Quinn. He
was a quarterback for Notre Dame. I believe he's one
of the all time leading passers at Notre Dame. Do
you think they played that song for him in his
final season at Notre Dame? I mean, seriously, shay your thoughts.
You have usually some deep thoughts on stuff like this.
Imagine your favorite school had an outstanding quarterback and because

(30:14):
of the way the system is, you can just come
and go whenever he wants. And that's just too damn bad.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
I mean, at this point, it's a part of It's
a part of the game, you know what I mean.
It's I mean, I'm an ASU fan and we after
everything happened at ASU, like everyone left. And don't get
me wrong, we were in the top twenty before. We
were a good team, but just because of an il
and everything else going on, like everyone left.

Speaker 7 (30:34):
So it's a part of the game.

Speaker 6 (30:35):
I mean, I'm not gonna it's it's his life. He
wants to get better, he wants a better draft, draft
a grade. It's all on him. I'm not gonna take
it away from him. You gotta do what you gotta do.
This it's his life. But think about.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
This for just a second. I'm not gonna be and
Dave Classon said that, I'm not going to bag on
the kid. This is the system we're in fair. But
if your Notre Dame, we will always love you. And
you were there. I mean the analogy is good. Hell,
they did for a year, they had him for four years.
Isn't it a little bit presumptuous on Notre Dame's part
to act that way? Or am I wrong?

Speaker 6 (31:06):
I mean, yeah, I definitely do think it is a
little a little too much. But at the same time,
I mean, I don't think Notre Dame was thinking anything
of it. I think they just wanted to do something fun.
It's a quarterback that has a lot of name to him,
and yeah, like I don't know, Like as a coach,
I would be very upset. As someone that developed him
and actually has true love for him, I would be upset.

(31:28):
But I mean, don't take it too seriously. They're just
it's a fun little video, like he had fun with
the program, Like he's playing for them.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
Why not you know it's it's it. Don't take it
too seriously. That's what I think.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
All right, fair enough, Kevin, you want to weigh in
on this or mark your thoughts.

Speaker 5 (31:43):
Yeah, I think it's a sour grapes from what it's
sounding like to me, because that is the system we
have and regardless of whether or not that's how you
like it, that's the way things are. And knowing that
that's how it is, I think, yeah, it just seems
very salty for him to kind of say that all
what he did at Notre Dame doesn't matter just because
he's only been there a year now. Maybe Notre Dame

(32:05):
might have been a little over the top with that,
but I do think, as Shay said, that it was
kind of all in good fun and just trying to
kind of send him off on a good note, but
with the way the system is now, you just got
to expect that the highest bidder or the best chance
to play and build your draft stock to make it
to the NFL is gonna be what matters now, and
it's mattered for a bit now it hasn't. This is

(32:27):
nothing brand new, but the reality is is that it's
out in the open, and if you want to compete
at the highest level of college football, you gonna be
willing to play that game. That reminds me in college
basketball coach k finally embracing the one and dons after
he had resisted it for so long, and that's because
the game had changed. Even if we didn't like the
fact that there were one and dons, that was the

(32:47):
reality of the sport and that's how he was able
to get to a Final four.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
If you're Duke, if you're Duke, you're you're not wrong.
But if you're Duke, you get those guys. If you're
wake Forest, you don't. It's not a level playing field,
but both of you guys bring up great points. Market anything
to add to that.

Speaker 11 (33:03):
The only thing I can think of is just the
overall idea of sports is turning into I guess either
college or basketball. You have your one and done kind
of people. It reminds me of a story of Billy
Crystal saying about, you know, players come and go, so
why don't we just pull for the uniforms and not
the players anymore?

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Jerry Seinfeld said the same thing too, So anyway, good stuff, guys.
I think it's all well thought out and interesting how
this show is really flown by Tonight. Coming up, we
wrap up the Ben Mallor Show and I will give
you my thoughts and prediction on Michigan Ohio State Coming

They're wrapping it up on The Ben Maller Show. Bernie
Fradle sitting in for Ben Mahller. Comingy live from the
Fox Sports Radio Tirerach dot Com Studios. Before I go
any further, I want to thank my broadcast team. They've
been with me since eleven pm Pacific time on Thursday night, Thanksgiving.

(34:24):
Ben took the night off well deserved. Mark Ramsey doing
a great job as our technical producer, Say Morgan guard
all the great input guys, turning all the dills, keeping
our glued together, and of course Kevin Wire at the chef,
the chef handling all the updates tonight and the chef
will be performing again well Saturday night on The Bernie

(34:45):
Frattle Show one point thirty am heading into Sunday. Great job, guys, outstanding.
Ben Maller is not only a good friend of mine,
he's one of the legendary radio personalities in the history
of radio. And I mean that he's all around good
guy too, So we want to do him proud. That
this is unfortunate. This is the tenth time I've got

(35:07):
to sit in and do the Ben Mallor Show, third
straight Thanksgiving, but the first time with this crew guys,
and so a great job. I certainly appreciate all your efforts.
All right, I know that the Michigan Ohio State game
is drawing one hell of a lot of interest, because
it always does. It's one of the greatest rivalries going

(35:29):
back in the history of college sports and the history
of college football. We talked about all that at length
a couple hours ago, but of course, you know, certainly
for the implication it's going to have this year for
the college football playoff, and if you win, you've got
bragging rights for a year, you're going to win the
Big Ten, you're going to advance to the College Football
play If it hadn't always been that way, so even

(35:50):
if there was no college football playoffs, this rivalry is
so intense, so important that people want their you know,
they want the bragging rights. You don't want to lose.
It's just three hund sixty five years in misery if
you lose. And of course there's added drama this time
because you've got the Jim Harbaugh suspension and he will

(36:10):
not be on the sidelines. So how's that gonna affect
the game? How's it gonna affect the betting line? Well,
the betting line now is down to Michigan minus three
and a half. Weeks ago it was as high as
Michigan minus five and a half. And you know, you
got a situation now where the dynamic has changed because

(36:32):
we now see that without Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines,
JJ McCarthy, the starting quarterback, has not really been the same.
The numbers show that he's throwing for less yards per game,
He's throwing less yards per pass. They're you know, they're
scoring less points with Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines. Michigan
was averaging about forty four points a game. With Harbaugh

(36:54):
not there, they're averaging thirty one points a game. JJ
McCarthy through four interceptions out Jim Harball. He hadn't thrown
a single interception all year with Jim Harball. And look,
Michigan ran, you know, they're they're proud of the fact
that they ran the ball thirty two times straight against
Penn State against you know, two weeks ago. And part

(37:18):
of that, we got to be honest, Part of that
was because they had real issues and real trouble protecting
him on the offensive line. Penn State had two elite
pass rushers. And not only that, you got a situation
where Michigan State has or excuse me, Michigan, Michigan has
a couple of linemen that are banged up. That's just

(37:40):
a fact. So how does it all add up? And
and by the way, there are technical factors too. Those
are fundamental factors I just gave you in terms of
you know, numbers and such. There are technical factors. What
do I mean by that? Well, Ohio State as an
underdog and there are three and a half point underdog
currently there's seventeen to three. Is an un dogs since

(38:00):
two thousand and eight, they're nine to zero double revenge games.
And the last time Ohio State was an underdog was
against Michigan in twenty eighteen and Ohio State beat them
sixty two to thirty nine. I think you're going to
see a very composed, intense, ready to roll Ohio State

(38:23):
team who's kind of on the upswing and Michigan is
a little bit on a downturn if I'm being honest
with how they've played the last two games. Now, they do,
of course continue to win, right they don't ask Kyle
just how many What does this game really come down to?
I think it's going to come down to quarterbacks. And
by the way, Ohio State's got the number four total defense,

(38:43):
the number two pass defense, two elite pass rushers and JT.
Timololo and Jack Sawyer, so Michigan. You know, they may
have trouble protecting JJ McCarthy as well. But one of
the guys you gotta watch Kyle McCord. He's Ohio State's
starting quarterback. He's really genuinely come into his However, this
would be the biggest game he's ever played in and

(39:03):
you just don't know how he's going to react until
he doesn't. And so if he plays clean, if he
doesn't turn the ball over, well I think Ohio State
can win. And you've got Marvin Harrison, who's the best
player in the country to throw to that matters. That
matters a lot. So if he plays clean, doesn't turn

(39:24):
the ball over, I think you'll see Ohio State win.
On the other hand, JJ McCarthy, they're going to have
to protect him. That offensive line is going to have
to protect him, and they're going to have to prove
that they can re establish some semilarch of a passing
attack much more than they've had because they're stepping way
up in competition against Ohio State. And you know, let's
face it, you know Maryland moved the ball, they had

(39:47):
five point three yards of carry. They could have won
that game. Maybe if they hadn't turned the ball over
three times. But we shall see. You're gonna get Max
eff Fort out of both teams. Yes, I think it's
the greatest rivalry in college football. Jim Harball will not
be on the sideline. It only adds to the drama.
And let's face it, the winner of this game will
advance well the advance of the Big Ten Championship game.

(40:07):
Most likely expect him to beat Iowa, but you expect
him to also advance to the College Football Playoff while
the other will probably go home and it won't be fun.
This game should be one for the ages and it's
gonna come down to a lot of the factors I
just mentioned, most notably Ohio States quarterback Kyle McCord. And

(40:27):
if you can step up in the moment and find
Marvin Harrison, it's gonna do it. For the Ben Malor
Show back on these zir waves Friday night, eleven PM
with the Bernie Frattle Show. We'll see it in. Keep
it locked up Next Anthony Gargano
