Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, Eddie, if you were negotiating with someone, would
you honor their wishes? Because I think it would make
sense to do that, right. I take you to show
Hey Otani, biggest name in free agency in Major League Baseball.
All these teams are trying to woo show Hey, trying

(00:21):
to get him to join their organization, and meanwhile, Dave Roberts,
he says, yeah, show Hey wants to keep everything private.
He doesn't want any details to be shared. But I'm
just gonna let it be known that, yeah, we met
with the guy for two to three hours. And I
don't understand why you would do that. Why if you're

(00:43):
trying to get show Hey to join the Dodgers, would
you do something that you know he doesn't want. He
doesn't want anything publicized, and Dave Roberts publicized it. It
makes no sense.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, but I mean, look, I would err on the
side of caution if I were any team talking to him,
I wouldn't you know, I would not do anything close to,
you know, upsetting him. So I get that, But you know,
does that include not even saying we met with the guy?
I mean, can you not? I mean, isn't that It
isn't kind of well known the teams he's meeting with. Yeah,

(01:18):
you think you know what I mean. I understand what
you're saying. And like I said, if it was me,
I wouldn't take any chance on saying anything. If any
of us asked the question, I'd be like, I can't
comment on it, just in case. But I mean, is
it that is? Is is Otani that you know strict
or you know, as far as not wanting anything out
that that teams can't even say they met with him.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, well this is from Ken Rosenthal, who was mentioning
Otani's agent, and the agent has warned all these teams
that leaking any details of the process would be held
against them.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Okay, details like I don't I don't know that anybody
would will leave the detail anyway. But is that, like
I said, it is just mentioning that we talked to him.
Is that too much of the detail that he's gonna
be upset about that?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
It could be because here's another Oh, this is a
great little tidbit for you. I know you're a big
fan of tidbits there, Eddie, Well, this is great. Who
is exactly Buster Olney does a great job at ESPN
and he shared a story that goes in line with
what you're getting at here, Eddie. So, a couple of

(02:29):
weeks ago, when O'tani was awarded the most Valuable Player,
he was sitting with a cute dog, and so everyone's like, Oh,
what's the dog's name? And so there were calls made.
The response through channels was Otani's camp was not prepared
to release the dog's name. That's how buttoned up this

(02:55):
guy is, Eddie. So Dave Roberts saying, yeah, we met.
We met two to three hours. I don't want to
go into great detail. Even that could be something that
Otani does not like whatsoever. Why would you do that?
Why would you even open yourself up to the possibility
that he has bent because you shared any details? Makes

(03:17):
no sense to do that.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah, I guess so. I mean, I mean, like I
already said, I wouldn't. I would have done it just
because I'm you know, why take the chance. But it
seems very petty, absolutely, I mean definitely. And Ben had
had a monologue on this. New was one of those
rare things that actually agreed with them on this is
good for baseball. Come on, shoe, he get it out there.
Make this a big let's let's let's see you walking

(03:43):
into the offices of whatever, the Blue Jays and the
Dodgers and the Angel's see it. But this is this
is this is big for baseball. Yes, what's the big deal?
What's the problem?

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Yeah? I look, it's just how he is. Man.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Doesn't this make you think though, he's going back to
the Angels because there's because there's no media attention there. Sorry? Cool,
Like if he just wants to be left alone and
doesn't want any spotlight, which it kind of seems like
he doesn't, then it makes me think he'll go back
if they're offering anywhere close of course, right right, I
mean the money always is going to talk in the end.

(04:19):
But if it's all even money on the table, this
makes me thinks he's gonna stay at Anaheim.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, but he wants to win. That's the other thing
that we know he wants to win.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Well, there's no guarantee you're gonna win. By going to
how many World Series of the Dodgers won in the
last twenty years.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Well, they've been way more relevant.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Okay, But if it's about a championship, they got one.
They got the same numbers in Texas Rangers.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Yeah, but that's pretty recent and they've been way better
over the course of the time that Otani's been with
the Angels, wait, leaps and bounds better. One title, okay,
one title, but a lot more success. About the Braves.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Is it just about winning more regular season games? Or
is winning a championship?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
You would have win a champion. Okay, then there's you know, okay,
but who's crushed it? How long has Otani been with
the Angels? Coop? What is it like? Six years? I
don't think it's been that long. How's it it's a
round there close.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, it's missed a lot of time, which makes it maybe.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, that's a good point. All right. Internet is unbelievably
slow the last week. Well, okay, let's just call it
six seven years. You've got one repeat champion in that time.
It's been the act year. Yeah, six years. Okay, in
six years, you don't have one repeat champion. You have
six different champions over the last six years. You know,

(05:44):
you'd have much more success with pick your team of choice,
the Dodgers, the Braves, the Astros, the Rangers, the Red Sox.
Back in twenty eighteen, like, you'd have more success with
any of those teams. So if the goal is to win,
I can't imagine he runs it back with the Angels.

(06:04):
I get what you're saying, Eddie about if he's trying
to stay private, and okay, I get that, but bro,
if you're trying to win, that's not the place.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I mean, that's fair. But they're certainly closer to winning,
you know, and the Dodgers than the Angels. But I mean,
let's not act like he's going to someplace that just
wins titles every year.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
No, I'm not, But man, year by year, what they've done.
They've won a lot of games, man a lot, and
they've had like good runs in the playoffs. They haven't
had embarrassing like what are they doing type stuff. So
I like, but here's the other thing I was telling
Coop off the air. I don't know that this destroys

(06:47):
the Dodgers' chances to land show. Hey, but let's just
say they don't land him. There's a good possibility they don't.
Why would you want to have that floating in the
minds of baseball fans, especially Dodger fans, that Dave Roberts,
that rat bastard. He might have screwed this up? Why

(07:07):
would you want that out there? It's not that difficult.
Just play the game. If he doesn't want details shared,
why share him? What's the game that bastard? Yeah? Do
you think this is some reverse psychology where it's like
he says he doesn't want us to do this, but
we're gonna do it and somehow it's gonna give us
a leg up. I just don't get that.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
How many people feel that Dave Roberts has photos of
someone to keep his job for this long? Anyway, maybe
he feels like he's bulletproof. I could say whatever I want,
You're not gonna fire me. I liked him in that spot,
I really did.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
What percentage would you give the Angels Brian to land
show Hey? Yeah? Well, that's the thing is, if I'm
being completely honest, none of us really know how show
Hay is wired. You know what I mean? Like we get,
we get a little bit, but you don't hear interviews,

(07:59):
you know what I mean? Like you hear enough Lebron
James interviews where you have a decent sense of what
he's about. What sense do you have of what sho
hey Otani is about? Like rights? But though he doesn't
want his dog's name revealed, you know, like you just

(08:20):
don't hear from him. You don't know how he rolls.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
So look, he doesn't want to be walking down the
street and then somebody just causes dog's name.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
You know. Yeah, I'm sure he's just going to the
local dog park right now. Yeah, that dog has his
own private dog park.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
I think it's low. I mean, with that being said,
I don't know how he's wired. This is just a guess,
but there have been multiple less than less than ten.
I think it's less than ten.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Nah nah, nah, I do.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
I do. It's I think it's low, very very low.
It's like, if you want to win, why would you
run it back with an organization you've been with for
six years and haven't won. I mean, it not even happens.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
There's ways, there's ways to convince guys, you know about
that part. I don't think you can like underestimate the
importance of familiarity and you know, routine and whatnot. But
and you can always like tell a guy, you know,
like with you know, with you around, like you know,
we can do this and this and we're you know,
on a new path.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
With Ron Washington, like this and that.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
And I'm not saying it would you know it would work,
but I feel like you can. I don't know when
when it's guys that you know telling you this, you know,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
I'm just saying, So, what do you think the percentage
is twenty percent? Okay?

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Why are you laughing when you say that?

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Because it's not that much more than I would.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
I agree. I think it's about twenty percent.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Twenty okay. What do you think the Dodgers percent chances.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Forty?

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah? I think that's that's about right.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Maybe I wish I would not be shocked if he
goes back to the Angels. I would not be shocked.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
I would be stunned. I'd be stunned. It slack, dude.
They've made it clear he wants to win. That's the
one thing we know.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
He's been everybody wants to win.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
No, no, But I got to dig up the exact quest.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
If that was true, he would like take less money
to go to the I don't know, the Rangers or
something like that.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
It's not Oh, it's different with sho Hey.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
How do you know you just said yourself. We have
no idea what this guy's all about no.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
The winning part. That's the one thing we do know about.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Yeah, Mike Trout has said that. He said it right
before he signed his extension with The Angels.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
I gotta find the show Hey tany quote, because it's different.
It's different with Otani the way that is it different.
Maybe it was a sound bite. I think it was.
Maybe it's a sound bite. The way that he said it,
it was like, it wasn't your standard. I want to win.
I want to be part of a winning organization. It
wasn't like that. It was just like losing is like

(11:15):
a little piece of me dies every time, or something
like that. Like it was way more. I don't think
he said that it was it was.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
It wasn't exact translation, Brian.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
No, it was through a translator, that's what I'm saying.
Maybe he screwed it up. Oh here it is here.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
It is.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
My goodness, I thought it was. I was looking for
a written No, this is audio right here here. Check
this out. This is through his interpreter show, Hey o Tani.
Needing to win. Now, those feelings get stronger year by year.
It sucks to lose, he wants to win, so it
gets stronger every year. Stronger every year. What a powerful this? No, no,

(12:01):
this is what you have to think about. It's true.
It's absolutely true.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Because you're talking about it like that is not anywhere
near a piece of him dies.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
That was the short version.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Let's hear the My soul has been sucked from my
body every time we lose.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Maybe I cut something down.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
A thousand knives are sticking in me.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
I don't believe. So I think I cut out the
loose fat. You know, I trimmed the fat year. But
let's hear the full thing from the interpreter, just to
make sure almost you're not stand him a sheet. Oh
that show, those films get stronger year by year. It

(12:50):
sucks to lose. He wants to win, so gets stronger
every year. It gets stronger. Yeah, that for good.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
I had to hear directly from shoes mouth himself to
get the full weight of that. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
No, no, no. Here's the thing that you guys, you'll
have fun with this is this is insightful though. Here's
the thing. You have to think about it year by year.
Look at the angels through the years of show. Hey
o Tani, okay, you start off eighty and eighty two Okay,
not bad. We're around five hundred. Let's see what we
do next year seventy two and ninety than the shortened

(13:30):
year twenty six and thirty four, followed by seventy seven
and eighty five, seventy three and eighty nine, seventy three
and eighty nine. He's had sub five hundred years for
the last five seasons, so it gets stronger every year.
That feeling that it sucks to lose. There's no way

(13:52):
he's running it back after that. If that's what he
truly feels like, it makes no sense to run it
back with an organization. And that's been sub five hundred five.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Everybody says that if that was like really the case,
then you would never have anybody resigning, like anybody with
any sort of you know, super talent resigning with their
crappy team, But they.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Don't say it like show hey just did Cooper, Oh jeez.
Gets stronger every year. Every year it intensifies that feeling
of how much it sucks to lose. He's gotta be
going elsewhere, has to be, has to be. But the
question is the teams that are in the running, they

(14:35):
haven't had great success outside of the Dodgers. It's like
the Blue Jays, the Cubs, the Giants. We're talking like
right here, right now. I know the Giants have won
three World Series in the twenty tens, I get that, right,
But right here, right now, the Giants were bad last year.
There's a sub five hundred team. So it's like, if

(14:56):
you go from the Angels to the Giants, that's just
the angel of the North in California. Like, why if
it's all about winning, go to the Dodgers. Man, You've
been in southern California. Familiarity is there makes all the
sense in the world. I just I don't know how
much damage Dave Roberts did by revealing the smallest detail.

(15:19):
He doesn't want his dog's name to be publicized, you know,
not taking kindly to Dave given details you don't want that. Well, okay,
final guesses I'm saying he goes to the Dodgers might
be tied to the fact I have a bet on show.
Hey going to the Dodgers, you, Eddie, what do you think?

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Angels?

Speaker 1 (15:38):
You just want him to you you want them to?
How crazy he's gonna do it? One of these days?
What if I wake up to the new show, Hey
run running it back with the Angels. That would be
my luck with the timing of that, Coop, what put
your angel's allegiance to the side. Oh, I don't, I
don't want to play this game.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Well, I don't know if you know this, Brian, but
Coop has said if you sign with the Dodgers, he
is in baseball is dead to him.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Man, there's a lot on the line here.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
I believe it. Man, he skis during the NFL playoffs
when the Broncos have been eliminated. I don't know what
he's gonna do, like eight years ago. Where does he
end up? Coop?

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Huh, I'm I'm I'm serious. I'm not I'm not playing
this game. I'm not throwing that juju out there. Really,
I'm just I don't want to. I don't want to speculate.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Okay, I translation Dodgers, Dodgers, I go to Dodgers. Okay,
all right, see how it unfolds? Good stuff.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Early next week, they're saying, right, we're gonna find out.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
I thought there was a chance would be this week,
but I think it's next week by the latest. Gotta
be soon, gotta be soon. See if Dave Roberts. Do
you see this, Eddie? Right after the press conference, he
got a a text message, a stern text message. This
is according to Bob Nightingale of USA Today, but about

(17:08):
not revealing too many details and the Dodgers GM said
he was quote surprised. Roberts revealed the meeting and declined
to comment from there. They were not happy about that
because show has been He's told us don't give details,
and Roberts did as stupid.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Does he feel stronger about no details or winning? Which
ones might intensify every year?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
The lack of no details, Eddie, that feeling gets stronger
every year. So I don't know at this at this
point right here, Okay, we got a lot to do.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Yeah, yeah, but it was It sounded like de Niro. Yeah,
exactly like de Niro.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Are you a pothead? Yeah, it's definitely yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Yeah. Do you know I know the movie though, No,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Is it Meet the Meet the Fokers?

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Now Meet the Parents? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Oh first one?

Speaker 7 (19:55):
Yeah, man, that's yeah, that's where he he's interrogating him
at the end of the end of the movie at
the airport. Just given given Ben Stiller the old rundown
there you'll shake down.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Are you a pothead? Yeah? Because he's like he throughout
the film, he gets this idea that like.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
Ben Stiller's character, like, I don't know, for whatever reason,
is a you know puff the magic dragon.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
That whole thing. By the way, is this music from
a movie?

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Which one? Do you know? Can anyone else guess you
are a little longer?

Speaker 8 (20:29):
Come on, seriously, Coop, I wasn't really paying much attention
till till you like about how about this part?

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Okay, well it sounds so familiar, Coli Culkin, Oh home alone? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (20:42):
Great, John Williams. Great theme, so memorable. What part of
the movie, Well, this is the main this is like
this song plays throughout the at different times throughout the film.
The beginning of it especially makes you think of like, uh,
Joe Peshi and Daniel Stern just kind of prowling around
trying to find stuff to burglarized.

Speaker 8 (21:00):
You see, For a second, I thought it sounded like
Harry Potter, which was also John Williamson.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
I mean, there you go, Hemelo, it's a Christmas trivia
right there. All right, let's go out to the phones
here real fast. Serious. Sean is with a Sean, what's
going on? Man? You're on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Eddie Hi, Sean.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Hi, Eddie.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Hi. Sean, how are you yes, Sean, Yes, What do
you think.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
About Otania coming over to the Pirates? Why don't you
think that would be right?

Speaker 2 (21:35):
I think that's actually gonna happen. Yes, Brian did not
ask me my percentage on showy Otani going to the Pirates,
But if he wants to win that, he definitely needs
to go to Pittsburgh. That's a good call on your part, Shawn.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Yeah. I kept saying every time I received on the media,
I say, come to Pittsburgh, man, we need help.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Well, that is certainly true, that is very true. We
need a lot of help. Yeah, you're going to Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Oh, I was saying, I heard you guys were doing
the ask Questions segment today and I had I had
a question for you everybody.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Okay, okay, do you need to tell us now or
do you want to put it on Twitter or.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
I can tell you now?

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Okay, well, sure we will answer it later.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Okay, Okay, that's fine. The one thing I was going
to ask was how many siblings do you have? If
you have any?

Speaker 2 (22:31):
All right?

Speaker 1 (22:32):
How many?

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Okay, just how many siblings?

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Interesting? He wants to get to know us a little bit. Yeah,
differently behind the scenes there. You're going to a lot
of movies, Sean. Are you enjoying all these movies are
going to?

Speaker 4 (22:43):
Yeah, because I'm an a list member at AMC, I
go every weekend. I've been going to see different things
and yeah, I've been talking to Coop about it too.
When we would talk on the phone, I'll kind of
just say, hey, did you see this to that? And
you say yea or no or he's never heard of it.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
You saw a Christmas movie right Silent Night? I heard?
How was that?

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Oh? Yeah, that one was a good one. It didn't
have any dialogue in it. It was kind of like
the whole I don't know if you saw the movie Taken,
but it was kind of like the same idea, like,
you know, go after the criminals, stuff like that. You know,
there was no dialogue in this though.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Wow, a lot of action no dialogue. Sounds like a
great Christmas movie, Sean.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Have you seen Napoleon? Have you checked that one out?

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Yes? I went to see that one, I think last Monday.
I saw it in Zolby. That was a good one.
That was like it was like Assassin's Creed three, but
with no Assassin it.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
That would be a good review on the movie poster. Yeah,
all right, Sean, Well, thanks for checking in, and we'll
answer you. We'll try to remember to answer your question
during ask.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
No, we'll remember that that next hour. We're going to
do that. Yeah, we'll do it next time. Yeah, that's
a Ridley Scott movie. It is.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
I'm a big Ridley Scott fan.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
So he's had some great movies. Man. Every now and
then I get nervous if it's like from the director
of and it's movies that I like, I'm like a man.
A lot of times it doesn't work out for the
newest one, but it sounds like this one could. What
else is he He's done Gladiator, Blackhawk Down. Is there
anything else that you really like from Ridley?

Speaker 2 (24:25):
I'm blade Runner. It's one of my all time favorite movies.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
You know, never seen blad Runner The.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Martian I thought was really good. He did that.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Huh, Coop, there's a movie that you haven't seen? Did
you say that? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (24:37):
Yeah, I haven't. I haven't seen Blade Runner. Interesting, but
he also did I don't know if Alien, Yeah, and Prometheus,
and you know he did American gangster.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Film. Yeah. By the way, I'm looking at the men Hannibal. Wow, okay,
I'm looking at the Pirates year by year. Yeah, yeah,
it's not that much different than the Angels.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
No, that's you know, that's a really it's really not
that much. That's really not that's not nice.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
I mean, they're at least in the ballpark of the
Angels wins and losses year by year. Angels are worse
now the Pirates are worse.

Speaker 8 (25:17):
But yeah, but the Pirates don't have the best players
and all of baseball on their team.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
I disagree, though, could but at least your owner is
for was trying to win. Yeah, our owner just now
decided to wake up and spend a little bit of
money because he was getting so eviscerated, uh publicly and
in the media and in Pittsburgh. I think he finally

(25:45):
had enough of being a laughing stock. So we'll see.
But I mean, for years and years and years he
didn't even care, didn't tried it and spend any money. Nothing.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
Did the Pirates have more wins than the Angels last year?
I believe they did. How crazy is that?

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Oh? That's bad. I'm sorry Coop that.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
He's gonna run it back with that. He can't run
it back with that man.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Hell, maybe serious shows onto something. Maybe you should go
to the Pirates.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Let's see what the odds are on that, EDNYW we
can bet there right now.

Speaker 5 (26:17):

Speaker 1 (26:23):
So Jamal Adams Eddie's safety with the Seahawks. He had
a Twitter exchange with a reporter after last week's game,
but he was answering questions about it on Wednesday. Okay,
so what happened last week? Remember when the Seahawks lost

(26:43):
to the Cowboys. It was on Thursday Night Football and
Jamal Adams gave up a go ahead touchdown to the
Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson. So there was a reporter
for SNYTV, Connor Hughes. He used to cover Jamal Adams
with the Jets, and so he posted the highlight of

(27:07):
that play of Jamal Adams getting burned and he just
wrote yikes. Okay. So Adams responded by posting a picture
of the reporter's wife along with the same comment yikes,
That's what Jamal Adams did. And so that was the
last week he was asked about it. On Wednesday, and

(27:31):
so the question was, hey, did you cross the line
with that? And so Adams jumps in and says, oh,
it's always the athlete crossed the line when he responds.
But at the end of the day, disrespect is disrespect.
What do you think about this? Is this fighting fire
with fire? Is this going a little bit lower?

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Well, it's definitely going lower. I don't think there's any
question on that.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
My wife you're talking about, man, I mean.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
I get that pride in his play, and I guess
if you criticize that, he takes that personally. I guess
I understand that. But I mean, this woman had nothing
to do with what her husband did.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Come on, he's a bitch. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (28:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
He later added, I hate that I had to bring
her into the situation, but at the end of the day,
the ultimate goal was to get at him, and this.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
I'm too kind as a professional athlete. I mean, you've
gotta have a little bit thicker skin than that. My god. Yeah,
you're gonna be criticized, and it's part of the territory. Dude.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Yeah, this was the other quote that I loved from football.
When others go low, I went lower.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Well, that's true, that is true. Definitely not something to
be proud of though.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
I mean, listen, fighting fire with fire would be calling
out that reporter for the job he does, right, that's
what the reporter was doing with Jamal, But he took
it to the wife's That's a different realm right there,
you know. But I'm with you, man, Listen, I get it.
I can understand how you get these like negative comments,

(29:17):
negative comments if it's the same source. I get how
it would wear on you after a while. I totally
understand that. But at the end of the day, this
is just some Joe Schmoe reporter and you're an NFL
multi millionaire safety you know.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Just yeah, And I do think you know that with
Connor Hughes, I think he kind of went out of
his lane, right, He's not covering the Seahawks, right, he
did go out of his way to take a bit
of a shot. But at the same time, like I said,
there's no there's no call for bringing in his wife
into this.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
You're right, right, right, And look, it wasn't personal the
first part of it, right, It was critiquing the play.
How many times have we done that with somebody that
gives up a touchdown that throws an interception or what
have you. That's not a personal attack.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
It comes with the territory when you're on that stage.
That's just something you have to accept. Sorry if you
think it's unfair, it's just the way it is.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Yeah, I mean, I think sometimes when KD. It's very
similar with Kevin Durant, where he'll go at some of
the Twitter trolls. I'll be lying to you if I
said sometimes it's pretty entertaining, right, But you're absolutely punching down,
there's no doubt about that. But hey man, Jamal and

(30:36):
KD get down with that every now and then. Punching down,
punching down, all right, we got a lot to do
coming up next. A couple of stories, Eddie that I
think will appeal to you. One of them is a
fellow alum that's got a strong stance over here. So
we'll throw that your way right around the corner. I'm Brian, No,
he's Eddie Garcia. We're in for Big Ben Mallard tonight.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
Thanks Eddie. We'll do ask Ben slash ask no, which
is really asked the crew next hour through the bottom
of the next hour right there, So get your questions
in Twitter. Have you transitioned to saying it's X Eddie?
Will you ever say that? Uh?

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Ever's a long time. Yeah, I'm I'm I'm not there yet.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
I'm not there either. It's just not easy to say.
Like the story with Jamal Adams right the Seahawks safety
Like technically that was on X.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
But there's even a quote from him where he talks
about tweeting because it's just common to say that. You
know what I mean, that's it's just not I don't know,
gets confusing. I got a couple of stories here with
ties to you. Eddie. Okay, so you are a Fresno
State grad, right, that's correct. Fellow Fresno State grad David Carr, Okay,

(32:35):
he's a member of NFL Network and he says, get this,
the Eagles they should bench Jalen Hurts, Bench him for
Marcus Mariota is what he says, And you're like, whoa what?
And his rationale is until Hurts is healthy again, play Mariota.
What do you think about that?

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Well, I understand where he's coming from. Uh, you know,
the Eagles are looking to win a super Bowl, right
that they're They're not in this just to be a
good team. That's you know, they've had the type of
record so far this year that certainly puts them in
that conversation. They're legitimate super Bowl contenders. I don't know

(33:17):
what I mean, is Jalen Hurts that banged up, that
he needs to sit out, that he's not at full strength,
that they're being limited by his abilities. I mean, every
you know, the argument is that nobody's one hundred percent
at you know, at this point of the season, I
was unaware if it is the case that he's dealing
with something that's so debilitating that it's affecting his play.

(33:42):
If that's the case, then that certainly makes his point
a little bit more. But I don't know that that
is the case. I didn't, I mean, right, uh, And
they're sorry as hell not gonna sit him against the Cowboys.
That's that's There's no way in hell that's gonna happen. Now.
Maybe they maybe they would do it, you know, later
in the year if there's nothing to be gained, sure,
or why not. But you know, what is he saying

(34:03):
doing it now? Yeah, he's saying now he's healthy, that's
that's not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
Yeah. No, Now, I'm with you. I think you hit
on it. Where Look, man, everybody's banged up to some degree,
and Jalen Hurt has been dealing with a knee issue,
But I don't see it hurting his place so much
that you're like bro put in Mariota, you know what
I mean, Like, Yeah, I don't think it's gotten to
that degree yet, So I wouldn't agree with that. But

(34:32):
I mean, I get what he's saying. I definitely understand that.
You think about he used by the way, did he
use the specific term bench? Yeah, Yeah, that's that's that's
a little that seems to me like that word was
intentionally used to get some attention.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Yeah, because you say bench someone that's yeah. To me,
maybe I'm you know, yeah, that's that's to me, is
like his performance isn't yeah good enough? Rest them resting?
Rest would be a better word.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
There you go. How about this also? No, you love
the puck? The twenty twenty four NHL Draft, Yeah, take
place in the Las Vegas Sphere. Hell yeah, the first
sports event at the Sphere.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
I'm already looking into media credentials.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Okay, there you go.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
They'll probably say no because I'm guessing everyone is going
to want to go to this, and it's also the
final draft where they're going to actually have all the
people in attendance. The following year, they're going to go
kind of NFL like where all the teams stay in
their war rooms, they don't come to the actual location,
which is what they've done in the NHL for years,

(35:39):
so kind of the last of it's kind they're going
out with a bang. So yeah, absolutely, I'd love to go.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
It was a little odd last year. You'd be proud
of me. I watched some of the NHL draft Eddie
and everybody that got on stage shouted out the same guy, right.
I can't remember what the context was, you probably remember it,
but it was some like former general manager or something
like that was retiring and sis. Everybody was just wax

(36:06):
and poetic about that guy before their draft pick. It
got to the point where it was like, this is
a little overkill.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Man. Yeah. I was in Nashville and David Poyle was
the GM and he'd been been the GM since they
were created, So, you know, shout out to the local guy.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
There, that's what it was, gotcha. Yeah, but first sports
event at the sphere. Have you gone to any draft ever?
Any I have?

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Yeah, I've been to multiple drafts actually, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, obviously here.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
In LA at all NHL. Yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Did go to the NFL Draft in Vegas too.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
I was there for that also.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Yeah, I know, we we were two ships passing in
the night. Didn't even know we were there.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Didn't even know. Oh man, I'll tell you what, I
think the sphere will be way better than the NFL
Draft was in Vegas because unless you were spending thousands
of dollars for like the Sea to Day area, you're
just standing and baking in the sun.

Speaker 5 (37:04):
Man.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
It was I know this is first world problems here,
but it was. It was uncomfortable, man. But I was
there for the first round in uh in Vegas. It's fun,
it's worth doing, it's worth going at some point. And
the NFL, they've done a great job with different setups.
I think the Nashville setup was really cool. They've had

(37:25):
some really cool setups over the years. But man, just
baking in the Vegas sun. Not the greatest, not the
greatest arrangement right there. I think the sphere will be
way better. They got to honor you with the credential, Eddie.
If you're really trying to go.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
We'll see. It's been a while since I've gone, so
I don't know how that process works, but it's it's
it's gonna be, it's gonna happen. I'm definitely gonna put
in for it. We'll see if they think granted or not.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
How much do you think it would cost if they
don't give you a pass?

Speaker 2 (37:55):
Don't know. I've never had. I've never gone paying my
own moolaw there, so I'm not sure I like that
all right?

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Coming up next it's a popularity contest, but very surprised
this guy is the most popular. That's on the way.
