Speaker 1 (00:00):
Which star has shined the brightest? We'll get to that
here momentarily. We are broadcasting live from the tirack dot
Com studios. Tirack dot Com will help get you there,
an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot com the
way tire buying should be. Okay, Eddie, So a simple

(00:23):
question here. We saw a couple of stars shine on
Monday night and thus far in the playoffs. Jalen Brunson
doing his thing for the New York Knicks. They take
a one to ozho series lead against the Pacers. Anthony
Edwards has been spectacular, did his thing in the first
round against the Suns, played well on Monday Night, dropped

(00:48):
what forty three in Game one? He's twenty two years old.
He dropped forty three points in Game one against Denver.
T Wolves lead that series two games to not. Yeah,
which star has has shined brighter thus far? Is it
Jalen Brunson or is it Anthony Edwards?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Eddie?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I'm going team Brunson here because he did something that's unprecedented.
He did something that nobody else has done. Jalen Brunson.
He becomes the first NBA player with at least forty
points and five assists in four straight playoff games. Nobody
else has done that. No one think about that. MJ. Wilt,

(01:30):
anybody who's played in the NBA, no one's done it.
Jalen Brunson has done it.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I mean, that's fine, but the four assist thing is
kind of lame.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Five assists.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
I mean, when they got a stretch to find something
unique like that, it's like, Okay, so he's been great,
He's been great.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeh.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I would go Anthony Edwards just because I think he's like,
he's got more flair. Oh yes, he's fun to watch.
His dunks are amazing and brings a lot of energy.
But there's no wrong answer to me with those two guys.
They've both been amazing.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah. I think that's an interesting way to look at it, Eddie.
If you go with impact versus it's just entertainment value
or super stardom. There's a superstar quality with Anthony Edwards.
It's undeniable. Like they did a little piece on Sports
Center on Monday where they did it really a side

(02:27):
by side with Michael Jordan and Anthony Edwards. And we're
not saying Anthony Edwards is Michael Jordan two point zero.
We're not saying that. It's just some of the movements,
the dunking ability, like the fadeaway shots, the creativity. There
are some things Anthony Edwards does that reminds you of

(02:49):
Michael Jordan. It's just there. And he's kind of backing
off of those comparisons, like it's like, don't compare me
to that guy. He's the goat, you know, like, let's smart.
Move on his It was very smart.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
But I agree with what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, it reminds you of mj and that's such a compliment.
But I think if you go impact, I think Jalen
Brunson's impact has been a bit better because when you're
dropping forty points in four straight games, that's an insane
amount of production. And like the Knicks are banged up,

(03:24):
they don't have Julius Randall, they don't have other great
scoring options. I'm not telling you nobody else can score.
They're just not great scoring options. They know he's their
first choice, their second choice, their third choice, and they
still can't stop them. And he does just this herky
jerky motion. He's sort of like a He's like a

(03:48):
mini yokichit Away where he just uses his body really well.
He's really crafty. He's kind of like start stop, a
little a little luka ish, but undersized, is not nearly
as big as those dudes. He's he's unstoppable. In the playoffs, man,
he's been sensational. I go, I go, Jalen Brunton having

(04:10):
the bigger impact thus far.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
But like, I think that's fair. Yeah, no, I think
that's fair. I will say. I hope we've seen things
maybe turn you know, like when Kevin Durant was in
Oklahoma City, everyone was like, Okay, where's he really gonna go? Right,
and you kind of saw that. But we've seen Yannis
stay in Milwaukee. I mean, maybe Jahn Morant could be

(04:34):
in that conversation a little bit when he's actually playing
staying in Memphis, you know what I mean. Like, he
doesn't he doesn't need to go somewhere else to be
a star. I hope that's his choice. If you know,
when he ends up becoming a free agent and wants
to go somewhere else, that's up to him. But I
hope that you know, these guys realize that I think
in today's age, you don't have to go to New

(04:55):
York or LA or Chicago. You can be where you
are and still be a huge star. And so, you know,
hopefully for Minnesota's sake, he can stay there for a
while and be kind of the face of that team.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yeah, and I think he's still going to have a
lot of endorsement opportunities. Just his game. He just has
so much style, so much flair. He's just an insane athlete. Man,
Like the dunk earlier against Utah where it was insane
what he did. He just you know, skied over the

(05:31):
forward there, John Collins, and is crazy what he's been
able to do. Like literally, when someone can legitimately say
that dunk or that shot or that move was Jordan esque,
it was just like Michael Jordan, that's insane to say
just that alone. And it was one of these contrived

(05:54):
stats here, Eddie, but it was it was something about
he joined Kobe as a player that was, you know,
twenty two years old, that dropped forty three points in
a playoff game, right Like, he joined Kobe as the
youngest player to put up a point total like that.
That's the type of company that Anthony Edwards is in

(06:15):
right now. Those guys you talk about young stars in
the NBA, Anthony Edwards is freaking outstanding, man. He's sensational.
You'll see SGA on Tuesday night. NBA is in a
good spot because isn't not that long from now, Eddie,
Lebron's gonna be gone. Steph Curry eventually is gonna be
gone some of these goliaths in basketball, Like we're seeing

(06:39):
that in the NFL. Some of the quarterback goliaths have
retired and moved on with Brady and Peyton, Manning and
those guys. But a lot of good young quarterbacks in
the NFL as well. So it's just the next crop
of stars. They keep popping up in both leagues.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
And I will say, you know, there's there's too many
times people will go bend over backwards to talk about
the next Jordan and that you roll your eyes, right,
you think there is no next Jordan, you know, for
those of us that saw him play his whole career,
I don't. I mean, there can be other big stars
and Lebron, certainly, I know people will have him in
the conversation and all that. That's fine, but everybody's so

(07:17):
quick to want to know label somebody like that. And
I think in this case, though, I understand where they're
coming from. Just right, just some of the things he does.
He's not going to be Michael Jordan, but some of
the things he does are very reminiscent of Michael Jordan.
Get I don't feel like this is as forced as
maybe some of the other comparisons we've seen in the past,

(07:37):
where they want to try and label another guy the
next Michael Jordan.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Yeah. No, it doesn't seem forced. It doesn't seem like
this desperate attempt or this hope. Think about Harold Minor
a long time ago with the Miami Heat and he
was labeled Baby Jordan and that did not did not
come anywhere close to being Jordan esque, you know. But
I think Anthony Edwards has a legitimate shot to be

(08:04):
a legitimate superstar, right, Like, this isn't forced, This isn't
something like we're overreacting. This isn't like lynsanity.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Right.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Remember when Jeremy Lynn burst onto the scene and he's
just playing out of his mind. It wasn't built to last.
I think Anthony Edwards is built to last. He's legit man,
and the other part is Minnesota's defense, Eddie. When you
hold Denver to eighty points in a game you didn't
even have Rudy Gobert, Denver loses Game one, they have

(08:37):
to win Game two at home, and Minnesota holds him
to eighty points. That's the other thing. That's where Anthony
Edwards can separate himself from Jalen Brunson. It's not just
the offensive end. What Anthony Edwards brings defensively is obviously
way better than what Jalen Brunson does. So that's a
check mark in Anthony Edwards' favor, but that Minnesota defense collectively.

(09:01):
Reggie Miller said that numerous times on Monday. He was like,
it looks like there are seven timber Wolves out there.
That's how they played defense against the Denver team that
has a lot of scoring options, a lot of creativity
in a game they had to have and Denver scored
eighty points. That was really impressive from Minnesota there. Man,

(09:22):
I don't think that you know, and you're getting wolves
in four chants. That's about as bad of an evening
for Denver as you could get, Eddie. You only score
eighty points, you lose a second straight game. In the
series and there are Wolves in four chants raining down
on you from the t Wolves fans in Denver. That's

(09:44):
pretty crazy right there, man, But that's what happened.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
I'm still not quite understanding how that happened.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
I think you just have to start booing at that
stage right when you listen to this on the TNT
broadcas as in the background, wolves in four right, if
you're a Denver fan, Eddie. Nuggets fans leave some of them,
but there are enough where just boom, just start yelling, ah,

(10:16):
just make any noise to try to drown that out.
You can't let that happen.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Did the did the Timberwolves fans started and the Nuggets
fans decided to join them? That doesn't make I can't.
I mean no disrespect to our Minnesota fans, but were
there that many Minnesota fans in Denver to watch this game?

Speaker 1 (10:34):
They were enough. Man, It's been a long drought, Eddie.
You know they're starving for playoff success. They're decent amount.
It's kind of like the Lions fans right Detroit was
struggling forever and they showed out.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
NFL a little different than than the NBA, though, to me,
I mean.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
As far is it from Minnesota to Denver, How big
of a trip is that?

Speaker 3 (10:58):
I think it's yeah, it's not just at a few hours, it's.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
What would you ballpark it at good ten? We got
to be in double digit.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
I wouldn't be surprised if that was it.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Thirteen hours thirteen Is that the gas or the official there?
Because thirteen hours and fifteen minutes officially on the I eighty.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
You know, we can drive a little bit faster. We
can get that down to like eleven and a half.
I feel like, and.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Uh, probably I don't know about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I think so.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
You know, I went to randomly because I was living
in Champagne, Illinois last year, and so we went to
an Illinois football game. They're playing Nebraska, and we sat
next to a bunch of people they drove from Lincoln,
Nebraska to Champagne, which has got to be somewhat comparable.

(11:49):
That's a decent drive. I'd say it's at least eight hours,
just guessing. And they were there to watch Nebraska, who
was like a five and seven football team. Man, shout
out to the Nebraska fans. If you're that much of
a diehard, you're gonna drive to see Nebraska take on Illinois.
My hat's off to you. Seriously, I think that's legitimate fandom,

(12:12):
right there, Eddie. That's strong. They're not just like tepidly invested.
You are straight up invested at that point. And it
was cold, they ain't care.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Yeah, speaking of traveling to see your team. Yeah, So
Eddie did mention earlier that I have a trip to
Wrigley Field plan and it's because the Angels are there
this year, and it's kind of weird. I'm not sure
how I feel about it, and I'm trying to kind
of change my mindset because I've stopped watching the Angels.

(12:50):
It's like it's so embarrassing and it's such garbage that
I just I don't even bother to turn it on.
I don't check the scores anymore. I just assume that
it's a lot, and I've already have, right, And so
now I'm just like I've got the hotel book I've
got the flight booked. Do I just try to go

(13:12):
into it like I'm going for the stadium, not to
see my team play there, but just for the stadium, right.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
But once you're there and you see your team. There
have to be a couple of current Angels that you like.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Sure, but I mean, you know, like, yeah, Logan o'hoppy
is is pretty great.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
I had no idea who that is.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
He's the catcher, he's he's doing pretty good, he's but
uh no, I mean, and then this was all booked
and then Mike Trout goes and gets hurt.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
That sucks.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yeah, so so not even Trout. Otani is leading the
league and the home runs. Now Baseball is just paying Baseball.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Is paying rough for an Angels fan. That's certainly rough.
But dude, you know what the what's the catcher's name.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Again, Logan o'hoppy.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Logan o'hoppy. Yeah, see, like you know that that shows
that you're still a fan, You're still invested. How could
you know that name and not be invested?

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Well, because last year he was he was his rookie,
he was off to a really promising start. He looked
really good. That he got hurt, he was out for
most of the year, and then he was back this
year and he's doing well again. But the whole team
sucks and Otani's gone, and so it's like, okay, cool.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Me, they cost me money A couple of nights ago, Kooper.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Why would why would you bet on the Angel I didn't.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
I bet against them, and they showed up in Game
one and smacked around the Guardians. I was like, where
did this come from? But I got it back. I
just kept fading the Angels and you know, there you go.
It'll eventually work out, no doubt. All right, coming up,
I want to circle back to this. We'll pay it off.
Could this team be the Mavericks of the NFL. I'll

(15:09):
throw it your way. I'll see if you buy any
of what I'm selling here. He's Eddie Garcia, I'm Brian No.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
You know, Eddie, I see some similarities between two teams
in two different sports here. I want to see if
you think I'm crazy or if you think there's something
to this or not. Okay, I think the Dallas Mavericks
could very well have a lot in common with the
New York Jets. Okay, so think of it like this.

(16:44):
When the Dallas Mavericks last season, when they got Kyrie Irving,
it was like, oh wow, this is big. Dallas is
going to be one of the big players in the
West and it didn't work out. They were in eleventh place.
They didn't even qualify for the tournament, and we're just like, well,
that didn't work And now look at them. They beat

(17:05):
the Clippers. They're moving on to the second round showdown
with OKC. So now all of a sudden, we're looking
at Dallas and we're like, whoa, they're players now in
this playoff race. I think the same could happen for
the Jets. Where Aaron Rodgers got there and there was Eddie,
there was a lot of fanfare right there were big

(17:27):
expectations Aaron Rodgers with a real defense, they could make
some noise. He got hurt right away. It didn't happen.
No One is talking about the Jets heading into this
next season as like, well, if Aaron Rodgers is healthy,
you look out from It's like a lot of people
bought in last year and it didn't work out and
they're like, eh, I'm not going down that road again.

(17:49):
But I think it could be similar to the Dallas Mavericks.
When you just start sleeping on them, that's when they
start performing well, that's when they start making some noise.
Do you see a similarity. There, am I off my rocker?
I do see some common ground between the MAVs and
the Jets, and I think the Jets could have a

(18:10):
MAVs like resurgence this next season.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
I don't think you're off your rocker. I see your
logic in this, and I understand the comparison.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
There you go, that was very nicely laid out by you, Ddie.
Would you go as far as to say, wow, that.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Was I don't know if I I mean, I know
that Kyrie and Aaron Rodgers both have some interesting theories
about things. There you go, Yeah, so I guess there
could be a connection there as well.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah they're a bit wacky, you know, but yeah, a
look crazy perhaps, Yeah, And yeah, so that could tie
in as well. But look, man, I'm a Dolphins fan.
I hope the Jets are freaking brutal, but I'll put
the fandom to the side. I think the Jets could
be pretty good. I think season win totals at nine

(19:01):
and a half, I could see them getting to double
digit wins, Eddie, they were they were seven and ten
with who at quarterback last season? You don't think Aaron
Rodgers is good for at least three more wins for
the Jets. I was like, you would think, so right,
let me throw it this at you. I couldn't believe this.
The Jets quarterbacks collectively last season touchdowns and interceptions eleven

(19:28):
and fifteen. He threw eleven touchdown passes all the quarterbacks
combined the whole season, and fifteen interceptions did get That
is freaking awful. That was, by the way, that's what
I had to work with, Zach Wilson, Trevor sime and
Tim Boyle. That's what you're working with right there. Eleven touchdowns,

(19:50):
fifteen interceptions. You think Aaron Rodgers is gonna do a
little bit better than eleven touchdowns and fifteen picks in
twenty twenty four? Absolutely well, ten and seven.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
That's yeah, there's no doubt. They were the worst team
I saw in person.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Oh realist year.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Yes. I mentioned earlier earlier in the show that I
went to Madison Square Garden. That was the also the
trip to see the Chargers play the Jets on Monday
Night Football, and uh yeah, they were awful. They were
they were terrible. Yeah, it wasn't even close. And the
Chargers were not great last season, So to have the

(20:30):
Chargers roll over them without much and they're offensively.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
It was just brutal, it really was. Yeah, that was
one of the most insane catches from Keenan Allen. You
remember that where it was like an overthrown ball. It
didn't gain many yards, but Keenan Allen made this insane catch.
You remember that, Eddie, you were in the stadium. I remember, Yeah.
I think it was it was to get to some

(20:55):
milestone where it was, I don't know whatever, catching his career.
It helped him get to some type of milestone, I believe.
But it was an insane catch. But you're right. The
Jets offense absolutely brutal that game. Was that a Zach
Wilson game?

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Yes? It was?

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Well, yeah, yeah, I could see why that would you know?

Speaker 3 (21:20):
That was somewhat similar to possibly the uh the chant
in Denver because at the end of that game, they
were nothing but Charger fans left in that stadium just
having a good old time.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Oh I get it.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Yeah, all the New York fans that had cleared out,
they were like, I'm done with this. Uh. They had
worked in you on the next day and all that.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
So yeah, so were the you're saying that the Chargers
fans were channing stuff or just you know.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
I mean they were they were. I mean, I'm I'm
being a little bit sarcastic, but I mean they were
the only ones making any.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Noise right right in that game.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Oh yeah, and uh, you know, wearing the powder blues there,
they all stood out in the in the in the
stadium and there was a decent amount of of fans
there for that. So yeah, and then the Jets fans
that were there, they'd either left or they were just
staying there being silent, nothing to say. I still can't
believe by the way that the Chargers let keenan Allen go.

(22:17):
I don't get that at all.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Oh really, yeah, you're not You're not happy with that.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
No, he's good. He's I mean, I know he's winding
down his career, but he's a good player.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
He is he is, And Bears are going to be
interesting this year. What do you think real fast about
your h well, your wife's Chargers.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
That your Chargers, my my adopted child by marriage.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Yeah, yeah, what do you think about it was a
five win team last.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Season, you know, Yeah, I mean they definitely need someone
to come in and give them a sort of some
sort of identity, right, and that's what Harbaugh's known for.
And uh, I'm an old school football fan, so I'm
I'm all about, you know, ground and pound. I actually
liked that kind of stuff. And I mean the Chargers
were fun to watch, even when they were losing. They'd

(23:04):
usually do some entertaining things. But you know, I hope
my wife can see some good times here in the
near future because you know, we talked about teams winning
a championship. We were talking about Minnesota and their drought
and whatnot, and you know, teams that have had long droughts,
and obviously the Chargers have never won a Super Bowl. Yeah,

(23:25):
and I'd love to tell my wife that'll happen one
of these days. But you never know, I mean, has
never happened for the Lions, It's never happened for the
Brownsy'd been around a lot longer. So use dads sports.
You know, you attach yourself to these teams, and you'd
love to think at some point it's gonna happen. And she's,
you know, every time I mentioned the Steelers have won
you know, a few Super Bowls, She's like, why couldn't

(23:46):
I have just one of those? So I'm like, I
don't know, it doesn't work that way. Sorry.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
By the way, I love this SoundBite from Jim Harbaugh.
So the Chargers number five overall picked.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Yeah, is this I think I know what this is.
If this is the web. Yeah, that is awesome.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
It's so good. They took Joe alt out of Notre
Dame fifth overall pick offensive tackle. This is what Jim
Harbaugh had to say about it.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
I know the question's gonna come up and you're gonna say, like,
you know, what about what about a weapon? What about
a offensive lineman? We look at his weapons that group
when we talk about attacking, and we talk about attacking
on offense, offensive line is the tip of the spear.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
How damn right.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
That's an awesome SoundBite, Eddie. I'm just looking at season
win totals just in case you're into that every day. Yeah,
the Chargers are set at eight and a half and
it's juice to the over. The over is minus one
fifty five, So that means you have to risk one
hundred and fifty five dollars to win one hundred. I'm

(24:47):
just saying for anybody out there, and I know you're
big into gambling, Eddie, I know you're all over this,
but think about that. You could it's plus one thirty
to the under eight and a half man. That's that's
such a stinky line. That's almost like, wow, what does
Vegas know that we might not know. It's almost like
they're saying, yeah, charges are good for at least nine wins.

(25:09):
It's like, really they are. That seems kind of bold,
doesn't it. There's no Keenan Allen, there's no Mike Williams.
It's like, I don't know, nine wins. You think nine wins, Eddie?

Speaker 3 (25:24):
I hope so. For my wife's sake, she'll be very
happy with that.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
I think, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
That's be sure to catch live editions of The Ben
Meller Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
It's alos looking for another story to kind of end
the report here. And I could have told you that
Victor Winbayama was the unanimous rookie of the Year, but eh, eh,
shout out to Rick Bonus. Do you know Rick Bonus
is Brian No. Rick Bonus just retired as the head
coach of the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL, wrapping up
a forty year coaching career. He was the last coach

(26:02):
still working that had coached in the eighties sixty nine
years old. Was a head coach of the Bruins, Jets, Senators, Islanders,
Coyotes and Stars. Been an assistant with a bunch of
teams as well. Yeah, two thousand and seven and twenty
six games as a head coach or assistant coach in

(26:24):
the NHL, which is the most all time. So wow,
props to Rip Bonus for calling a career after forty
years coaching in hockey.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Shout out, by the way, if it's not the Kings,
would you like to see a Canadian team win it all?

Speaker 3 (26:40):
No?

Speaker 1 (26:40):
No, no, not really screw Canada.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Well that's that's a little much.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
So you know, I don't want forwards in your mouth.
It's und me.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
I appreciate our neighbors to the north for bringing us
the great game of hockey, But will I root for
any of their teams to win?

Speaker 1 (26:57):
No?

Speaker 3 (26:57):
I will not. No, No, it's.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
Been a long time. Have a heart the.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Last time it happened. Guess who they beat?

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Oh that's what it is? Yeah, goodness, sour grapes.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Huh, King should definitely want that series?

Speaker 1 (27:13):
How long ago is that. What year was that.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
I was nineteen ninety three, I believe ninety three.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Goodness, we got what Edmonton and Vancouver one of those
teams is moving on.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Yeah, they're playing each other, so yes, that is definitely
going to happen.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Yeah, we can we get a Canadian Dave in the finals,
the conference finals. One step closer.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Yeah, I'll be rooting against whoever survives that matchup.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Would you root for a Canadian NHL team or Poppy
from San Diego?

Speaker 2 (27:48):
More?

Speaker 3 (27:50):
What is Poppy doing? I mean what am I rooting
for him? For?

Speaker 7 (27:53):
What?

Speaker 1 (27:53):
I mean just I don't know.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
I would I would Well, that's you know, that's a
terrible choice. But I'll go with Poppy.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
You go Poppy. Yeah, I'll go Poppy because I know
your feelings something. He voiced your your feelings every now
and then. We got Poppy from San Diego on with
us right here?

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Eddie, Wow, Hey, thank you, Brian, thank you, Ny Garcia.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Absolutely Poppy. What's going on? Bud?

Speaker 5 (28:18):
Yeah, you know I was hearing you talking basketball. I'm
the perfect guy to talk earlier the NBA guru. You know,
I love basketball and I saw Victor Wambiyamba last year
in the summer league and he got Rookie of the Year.
And I was telling Victor Wamayama when he was in
the free throw line because he's playing a little bit
of time. I'm like, Victor wom Byama, take deep breaths.

(28:39):
And he started doing that, and I kept on sharing
and cheering them. And when I found in the regular
season doing that in the free throw line, I felt
the connection because I was the first one to say
that in the summer league.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
You looked him up, Poppy, you gave him the blueprint
right there.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Yeah, it's why he's Rookie of the Year. It's right exactly,
deep breaths.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Deep breads exactly. And then some of course there was
people Brian and the chat saying are us closure. I'm like, yes,
I'm the coaching. Great Papovich was right there and I
shook hands with them, met Popovitch to the back.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Did Pop call you the coach? That's the true test
right there.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
No, you know, Papa Vic didn't even want to You
didn't even want to take no pictures. He was just
giving autographs to fans. You don't want to take no pictures.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Really, So Pop's anti picture, but he's pro autograph.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
Yeah, exact exactly, and I saw run in front of
my eyes. It was very interesting and just for a
little kid went up there got Papavich autograph and there
was a fan right there, and that little kid hustled
that fan and he sold that. I don't know, I'm
getting over one hundred bucks. He is a fan. Game
for the pop up a autograph.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
You got stories for days, Bobby. Do you have any
picks for us?

Speaker 5 (29:47):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (29:47):
I do.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
But actually NBA grew, you know on basketball, I said
Ben Mallard last night. I know you're a big fan
of the betting. I'm going to give you guys a
pick on basketball. The Celtics and the Cats. I told
Ben Maller yesterday, Scott boss are my favorite red on
the NBA. I have a film that's gonna be there.
The lines that minus eleven and a half fine, I
think for the whole game and last game the Sixers, uh,

(30:10):
they lost with Scott Foster. So this one's a bounce
back game. We're gonna take the Boston Celtics. It's eleven
and a half. We're gonna take the first half minus
five and a half. Well, I don't care. We're gonna
do the track picked up. We're gonna do a whole
game minus eleven and a half. And if you guys
want to do a Monday nine, it doesn't pay a lot,
I think, Brian, Right, So those are my two picks
with the spread. What are you thinking, Brian Scott Foster

(30:31):
with the Celtics. You'll find out at six a m.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Today.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
Yeah, you did. It's kind of like the Miami Heat thing, right,
take them to cover the first half, the Celtics, take
the cover, the Celtics to cover the full game spread.
Yeah maybe, yeah, I can. That happened to Like the
Calves are just so small their backcourt, right, the back
court is so small. That's that's gonna be rough. It's
gonna be hard to see.

Speaker 5 (30:54):
Yeah, Brian. And then Jared Allen he's out of the lineup.
And I know twoot take poor z gives out for
the Celtics. They don't matter. The Celtics are saving them
for the final stretch when they're going to make their
conference finals in the East and the NBA Finals. So
spake porzing is gonna come later on the Celtics. Donadom right, MoU.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Okay, Poppy, hey man, we appreciate that good stuff by you.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
For sure.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
I like it. So it's uh wembin Yama's secret sauce
right with Poppy deep breaths, and we got winning selections
for Tuesday NBA Action.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
Eddie, are you gonna you're gonna place some money on
Poppy's advice?

Speaker 4 (31:33):
There?

Speaker 1 (31:34):
You know, I might have to.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
I might have to if that's a mistake.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
I mean, Eddie to say go with the Celtics over
the Calves. That's not crazy logic, right there, Eddie.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
You know, well, I'll just say this. When Poppy makes
a pick, it usually doesn't come true.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
You want to, you want a friendly way you're tomorrow, Eddie. Okay,
the two picks he had, he had Celtics first half
minus five and a half. He had Celtics for the
game minus eleven and a half. What do you think?

Speaker 3 (32:12):
So keep myself again? Uh huh. Usually when he makes
a pick, it's not it does not happen.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Are we looking at a split or zero in two? Eddie?
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Probably split. I'll give him split.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Give him a split on that. Okay, all right, we're
gonna get to the militia here in just a second
before we get on out of here. Also, did this
team just get jinxed? We have to throw that your
way as well. He's Eddie Garcia. I'm Brian No in

Speaker 1 (33:24):
You know, Eddie, do you believe in jinxes at all?
Especially in sports?

Speaker 3 (33:30):
I might dabble a little bit in superstitious stuff.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Yeah, okay, I don't know if.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
I really really believe it in my heart, but I
play along.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Okay, let's put you in the shoes of a Minnesota
sports fan. Okay, so they swept the Suns. They have
a two ohero series lead on the defending champion Nuggets.
Things are looking good. But it's been a tortured history
being a Minnesota fan. Right, no championships since ninety one.

(34:04):
Been a long time. And Charles Barkley, who's been known
to get a prediction wrong from time to time, Eddie,
he was waxing poetic about the t Wolves. Here's a
brief portion of what he had to say on Monday night.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
The Minnesota timlewalls off for real.

Speaker 8 (34:20):
They're gonna sweep the Devin Nuggets period.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
M Okay again, you're a die hard Minnesota fan. You
worried about this at all?

Speaker 3 (34:32):
Well, you are right. The chuck Wagon there is not
known for his correct predictions in different sports. He also
predicted the Toronto Maple Leafs would beat the Boston Bruins
in Game seven of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That did
not go his way as well. So I would if
I were a Minnesota sports fan, Yes, I would be

(34:52):
worried that people are jumping on the bandwagon like me
and predicting that they're gonna win it all.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
But yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's fair. I think that's fair. Hey,
let's work in the militia as much as we can here.
Kelly is in Nashville. Shout out in Nashville. What's going on, Kelly,
You're on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
Hi, Brian, How are you good?

Speaker 1 (35:14):
How are you doing? I'm doing all right, all right.

Speaker 5 (35:18):
I'm excited to be back.

Speaker 7 (35:19):
I spent last week. I'm normally here every morning with
the team, but spent last week having to closed my
store and said, so, I missed the whole week of
the show, and so I'm very excited to be back
this morning.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Yeah, I'm glad you're back. That's good.

Speaker 7 (35:34):
So, yeah, what's cool, run Ran.

Speaker 8 (35:36):
What have we been talking about this morning?

Speaker 7 (35:37):
I know I've heard. I know the Minnesota guy was
talking about being a suffering fan, and as a lifelong
Seattle fan since the early eighties, I know about suffering.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yeah, yeah, there's been some of that going on. Tonight.
We had an extensive conversation about how Mustard is basically
the devil.

Speaker 8 (35:58):
We got it amazing.

Speaker 7 (36:00):
I'm I'm a true believer that Ketchup should be bands
from the planet.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
Oh, Kelly, I know I'm sorry.

Speaker 7 (36:07):
It's a hot take, I know, and.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
We started off so well, you know, there was a
lot of positivity.

Speaker 5 (36:13):
I know, it's it's a very polarizing.

Speaker 7 (36:16):
It's a very polarizing stance that I take very often
with many people. But I am very anti.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Yeah, man, that's wow. You know, I know we can
only go up from here, Kelly. It's how I look
at this. I want to look at this positively. Yeah,
we can only get better from here. But good stuff.
Let's get to Frank in Iowa wants to check in. Frank,
you're a Fox Sports radio. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (36:42):
How's going?

Speaker 1 (36:42):
But you know, everything's good, Bud. How about you?

Speaker 8 (36:46):
I'm doing fine, doing fine. I won't want to say
what's your what's your observation of about Sam Donald coming
to the Vikings.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Uh, you might get a start, maybe two starts. That's
probably about it, right, just keeping a seat.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
You know.

Speaker 8 (37:03):
I had the same observation when and that's the first
thing I thought of when I heard the news that
he was going to be traded to the Vikings. And
what do you think about the Vikings draft picks for
twenty twenty four, especially the quarterback? And then they only
had but two selections on offense and then the rest

(37:23):
of it is shored up on defense.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Yeah, man, well you know as well as I do.
It's all about j. J. McCarthy and he's got a
lot mo with He's got a lot to work with.
But we'll see if he's the real deal or not.
It's really that right, Is that easy?

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Right? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (37:40):
But I like it. They were aggressive, you know, they
didn't trade up Uber Hiding and Jay McCarthy. You get
Dallas Turner, you know the reason for oper right, and even.

Speaker 8 (37:48):
Though even though they didn't have no second and third
round picks, but they they've done pretty good as far
as my perception of it.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
Yeah, no doubt, Frank, Thanks for checking in, man, We
got a good stuff. Hey, Eddie, did you see this
last thing from the roast Bill Belichick? He said, it's
an honor to be at the roast of Tom Brady
on Netflix tonight. It's not not to be confused with
the ten part Bill Belichick roast during the Apple TV documentary.

(38:20):
You crush, that's funny. It's funny line, man. All right, Uh,
we'll be back a little bit later to dissect n
b A NHL. Have a good day
