be absolute jam packed wacky show. Tonight, We're going to
dive into some subject matter that everybody can relate to,
and of course, a little later in the hour, I'm
(00:44):
going to get into the two NBA playoff games that
took place on Sunday. I've got some keen observations, but first,
please allow me to get something off my chest. You know, really, basically,
I'm a simple guy. Hell, I had a chibles for
dinner last night, right, But I hate to come on
(01:04):
like a vegetarian beef inspector in a British slaughterhouse. But
this stupid Laker coaching search is gonna end up having
all the drama of a Gilligan's Island rerun. They're gonna
draw it out. It's gonna be one of those situations
where they milk it three, four or five weeks, suck
the airt of the room, like I got Dan Byer
likes to say. And in the end, it's not gonna
(01:27):
matter why they're not gonna win with this group. They're
not gonna win with this roster. What makes you think
they're gonna win with this group no matter who they are?
And by the way, if they do well, hell, Lebron's
just gonna take all the credit, and if they don't well,
the coach will get all the blame. How the hell
(01:47):
do you think Lebron's on his fourth coach now? He
just got there a few minutes ago. So let's just
get it over with. Okay. As far as the Laker
coaching hire, it's gonna be all about optics, image, selling
the press conference. So where am I going with this?
Just be done with it, hire JJ Reddick now, gap
(02:10):
you heard me say it, Just do it now, don't megas? Wait,
knock it off? Okay, you say he has no experience,
Well I got news for you. Pat Riley ate walking
through that door, but he did in nineteen eighty one,
made the transition from the announcer booth. Pat Riley never
had any head coaching experience. How'd that work out? Steve
(02:30):
Kerr was hired in twenty fourteen and Golden State no
coaching experience, not even any assistant experience. Four championship later,
how's that working out? You ever heard of a guy
named Don Shula the all time winning his NFL coach
of all time? Well, that's the redundancy department. Department of
redundancy department. I know. I just did that again with
(02:51):
the three Super Bowls, two different teams, done it pretty well.
So can we can we vacate the drama? Can we
stop at Laka? Please? Please? Again? All the drama of
a Gilligan's Island rerun, And I know you're going to
you know you're gonna milk it for all it's worth.
By by the way, I digress, Gilligan's Island is the
(03:13):
dumbest show of all time period. You don't believe me?
Come on, the professor. He can build a radio out
of a coconut, but he can't get him off the island.
Thurston b Howe's got more money than Lebron, but they
don't even bother to send a search party. Meanwhile, Ginger
and Marianne running around. They haven't had their ticket, Punch
in site carried his own golf clubs yet, the Skipper
and Gilligan, they're asleep at the wheel. Every episode ended
(03:36):
the same. You did a little buddy, Okay, just like
the Lakers, you bore me. But I will say this,
JJ Reddick for reals is one of the names that
the Lakers have been drilling down on and they're very
intrigued with and the front office apparently has been making
calls around the league to try to learn more about
(03:57):
him because they are continuing the coaching search. Now, he
hasn't been explicably named as the favorite or you know,
the odds on favorite. I'm saying that I think they should.
They should hire him and do it now, and I
believe he's gonna be the favorite, Okay. And the Lakers
can search far and wide all they want, but the
(04:21):
reality of it is, when they let Darvin ham go,
they all talked about, you know, getting an experienced coach,
which you know, Darvin Ham wasn't. What are you gonna do? Budenholzer,
He's already taken over the Phoenix Suns, even though Tyloo
Lebron James Buddy is still the current Clippers's coach, and
(04:43):
they're gonna re up and they haven't done yet, but
they will. They talked about maybe Jason Kidd jumping in there,
what experience coach, maybe Terry Stotts. That might actually work,
but you know what, that might not win the press conference.
So I get that you are maybe he scratching your
head saying, what's up with this JJ Reddick stuff? Well, look,
(05:05):
he is a former fifteen year NBA player, a sharpshooter,
and his name's gonna come up. You watch, you watch,
They're gonna milk it.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Now.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I realize Reddick has no coaching experience unless you count
working with nine year olds. And he went straight from
his career, which again fifteen years, into a media role
with ESPN, and he's drawn a lot of praise for
his work as a commentator and an analyst, and he
also hosts a podcast called The Old Man in three podcast.
(05:33):
It's on studio shows broadcast games, and he kind of
makes a point of really pointing out various strategic, granular
details in a way that really most talking heads don't
do such a great job of, at least as well
as he does. And even just in the last couple months,
I understand I don't listen to it, but I understand.
(05:54):
In March that JJ Redick and Lebron James launched the
podcast together to call Mind the Game, in which they
discuss basketball primarily from an ex's and o's perspective. So
the relationship with Lebron James is one of the things
I want to hone in on here because you really
(06:15):
can't you really can't deny that that could be a
huge selling point. Lebron's only been around the NBA twenty
one years, He's only had eight head coaches. Tried to
get Eric Spolster fired. How'd that work out? This hire
will be his ninth, the seventh since Phil Jackson left,
and again the fourth in his Laker career. Now, coaching
(06:35):
Lebron James is a pain in the ass, high pressure
position because actually Lebron's the coach. You get to carry
the clipboard. And I know Byron Scott the other day
said maybe they should hire Lebron. You can't do that.
You can't do that. Thanks to the new CBA, which
has been out about thirty years now and this little
thing called the salary cap, there can no longer be
a player coach. Last time that was done with Dave
(06:56):
Collins in Boston back in nineteen seventy eight. I know,
maybe some correct me, but that's about that's about right.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Now.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
The other thing about this is that I believe if
Lebron gives his stamp of approval, that's going to go
a long way in watching JJ Reddick slick his hair,
back wear cool suits, have a sharp, you know, silver tongue,
devil wit, not afraid to speak his mind, and I
think it should happen. And by the way, it's not
(07:26):
just the Lakers. The lack of experience that JJ Reddick
pass as it were, isn't necessarily, you know, scaring away
the rest of the NBA. JJ Reddick interviewed with the
Toronto Raptors last year for their head coaching job. In
the offseason. He was actually a finest finalist, excuse me,
for the Charlotte Hornets job this offseason. Charles Lee, the
(07:51):
Boston Celtics assistant just got it. And by the way,
speaking of the Celtics, their head coach Joe Missoula, he
attempted to hire JJ Reddick and put him on his
staff last season. So jj Reddick, I don't think he
wants to be an assistant, but he in many circles
is viewed as a fairly hot commodity in the coaching world,
and he's got the look that would fit the Lakers' sideline.
And like I said, it's not gonna matter, not gonna win.
(08:11):
Bring in Red klots for all that matters. You don't
know who Red Klotz is. Google them. His record against
the Harlem Gloketrotters are like two in eight hundred ninety eight.
But he kept his job because he's cool. Look, it's
only a matter time. If the Lakers don't hire him,
someone else is going to. And it doesn't matter who
the Lakers hire, because they're not gonna win. Did I
mention that now? There aren't many hires in recent NBA
(08:32):
history that have come with no prior head coaching experience.
There are few, and the ranges, you know, from very
successful to colossal failure. You know, you would hope that
if he walks through the door, he becomes like Steve Kerr,
who took also took the path from the broadcasting booth
into the coaching sideline, although in fairness he did work
(08:54):
in the front office for the Phoenix Suns for a while.
There's also a chance Reddick could be the next Derek
Fisher Steve Nash. That would be a massive train wreck,
which is likely not because of him, but because of
this Lakers roster. They talk a lot. Don't tell me,
show me. They're not gonna win anything. Come on, you
look at the level, all right, You've heard me say that. Now,
(09:16):
the wide range of possible outcomes obviously makes this a significant,
high risk reward potential that is just gonna be too
good to pass up. They can sell that press trumpets.
I believe, I really believe they can't. Now. They took
a similar risk with Darbnham two summers ago because he
need to have any experience. So maybe they're just a
(09:36):
little bit gun shy. But the truth of the matter is,
I think they're willing to take that risk and go
back second bite at the apple again and bring in
a guy like JJ Redick. But like I said, anyway,
slice it. They're not gonna win and any way slice it.
The Lakers are gonna draw this out and it's gonna
(09:57):
have the same stupid ending, just like eight Gilligan's Island
episode coming off. The Legend Bill Krackman Krackenberger. You hear
him all over the network. One of the legendaries sports
vetters in the history of Vegas and an all around
great guy. You're gonna love his stories. By the way,
he was at the Rolling Stones concert last night. Eighty
one year old. Actually, Mint Jagger turns eighty one in July.

And for Ben Maller, it's Bernie Fratto.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Oh my god, Lorna Peterson, you are such an undercover badass.
So those are the dulals and tones of a twenty
two year old Mick Jagger. That song was so provocative.
In nineteen sixty five, Lo was banned from over one
hundred radio stations, and who better to have on to
talk about what an eighty year old Mick Jaggers sounds like?
The legend you hear them on Fox Sports Contown to
(12:02):
kick off during football as well as around the network
and all around Vegas and the planet. My good buddy,
Bill Crackman Krackenberger, crack How you doing, buddy?
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Hey, Bernie, thanks for having me on, Buddy.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Zoe's a pleasure. Before we get to your casino story,
which I know people are waiting to hear because they're
telling us that what does an eight year old Mick
Jagger look like up close and personal?
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Well, you know, the song Satisfaction was the last song
they sang last night. And I've been saying this for years,
but I think this is really it. I think this
is the final time I've seen him about twenty times.
And you know, get really good seats last night. I
was right there past the standing only pits. I was
(12:47):
in the first row, a two rows row, one seat one.
Got a really good deal so on tickets last minute,
because you know, they were asking ridiculous amounts of money.
But if you hold out, you can usually get good
seats to most shoes most shows in the last couple hours.
So being so up and close, and you know, I
(13:09):
kind of just think it's their last show. But then again,
it came literally when they sung there like fourteen or
fifteen song. Here comes Jagger and he goes from the
stage down the runway, comes back up the runway and
decides to start an all out job. Literally a sprint
towards band. Eighty years old sprinting down the runway. Unbelievable,
(13:33):
him and Keith both eighty years old. I watched the
first two shows on YouTube from Houston, and then I
watched the second show from Arizona, and I thought they
were okay, but you know, they're eighty years old. Got
to give in the past. They don't sound as good,
they don't lose good. Last night's show blew me away.
I had no idea these guys still had this kind
(13:55):
of energy, live up in personal and gave myself a
bit of a sort show as you could hear, well, he.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Comes from Royalty and so the dude has had quite
quite the life. And you know, you saw a history
crack and I got to tell you irrespective. I saw
a Sinatra at the end. He couldn't sing anymore. He
was like talk singing through his songs. But you're looking
at Frank Sinatra. Okay, So anyway, I'm just curious. One
last question about that. What song did they open up with?
(14:24):
You recall the Rolling.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Stones to start me up? They opened up, Oh really,
and they shocked everyone by playing like a Rolling Stone,
the song that was written for them. They did not
play at this tour yet A Bob Dylan and of
course song uh you know that's he got like the
most popular version of that, but they played that shocked me.
(14:46):
I'm not one that I like. I don't like change.
I'm a creature of habit. I don't want to hear
nothing new now. The new song Angry is pretty good,
but I want to hear old stuff. And I was
kind of upset with their set list for the first
two shows. But last night setlist I had no problem with.
Fantastic brought you back to the old days, and it just,
you know, it made me really feel, you know, like wow,
(15:08):
maybe they aren't going to retire. But listen. Keith came out.
He took five steps from the drums, eight steps from
the drums and never moved from that spot. I mean,
the guy's eighty years old, gets plunged bloods transisions every year.
How can we, you know, doubt them, or how can
we even talk bad about them? But I just think
this is the last time I've probably seen him, So
(15:30):
I hope and the eighty years old comblems both of them,
of all.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
The hits, of all of their hits. They opened up
with start Me Up, which wasn't released till the eighties.
That was it. Huh you know that story Bill Gates
And they came out with a new computer in the
mid eighties and they did the commercial well you can
start me Up? And he wanted the rights to that
song for the commercial. Legend has it. He called up
Mick Jagger and says, I want the rights to that
(15:54):
song for a sixty second commercial. How much you want?
Jagger goes five million? He was done. Hold up, Jay
goes damn it. I should ask for ten. That's how
fast that wait? Anyway? All right, crack.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
You you you you are a man about town, a
man about the planet.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
And anytime you share with the world that you've got
a story. As you and I both know Vegas is
not run the same way as it used to be,
and causiners are different. We're in a different world. I
know a lot of people are dying to hear the
story because they're they're tweeting at us.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Buddy of mine comes in town, flies in and uh,
you know from from South Carolina, money guy, good guy,
throws money around, takes care of everybody, takes care of them.
You know, from the bellman to the butlers to the
four people. You know, everybody takes care of everybody. Goes in,
comes in and it plays dice. You know, he comes
(16:48):
coming in for the rolling stones, comes in for every show,
comes in and opens up for a regular bets. You
know that's five hundred and number, So twenty five hundred
across the dice table, and you know, I don't. And
literally fifteen minutes later, he's got the whole board pulled up,
about twenty thousand across the board. I'm watching it now.
(17:09):
I'm just watching twenty thousand across the board. And they
made the shooter makes their third pass, shooting the same
way every single time happened. The dice throwing them across
the table hit in the back wall like he's posting
dare enough you get one of these antiques floor people
that come in. Here's the commotion of everyone clapping, and
much happier than he's ever been in his whole empire.
(17:31):
Burned out Life comes up to the table, just wants
to start disruption and says, hey, hey, hey, no tapping
the dice. Pick them up and shoot him, just to
try to change the role, do things over. And sure
enough a couple of players were starting to get on
him and yelling at him, and you know, here comes
here comes the seven out. Of course, my friend made
(17:53):
some money, he made about thirty thousand dollars in my role.
But I just can't take these people and that that
they're miserable in life. They wish it was then gambling.
They have misplaced rage. They come to work. They just
should have the heart and the and the balls to
go out and steal yourself then and do something, you know, seriously,
(18:13):
have the heart to do it if you're if you
think you want to, you want to? How hard is
he know? How hard it is to gamble in a
game that's such a negative ev game.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
It's one of the worst guys.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
I just can't take these people who are still in existence,
and it shows the opposite. You know, I have a friend,
another friend of mine that came in town and he won.
I guess he won about twenty five for the trip.
Not nothing crazy. But here's a guy that comes in
and he's by the way, he's at the Stratosphere and
they won't fronting him at all at the strat two
three down, which is a lot by the way, two
(18:45):
three thousand a hand, not even a four personal out
is this other guy was in one of the one
of the one of the big strip properties, one of
the Seizers properties, pirates it was, and and they're just
I couldn't if I didn't see my own eyes, I
would not believe it. For today, I'm going to take
him to the airport. So listen to let me take
you to the airport. I go to pick him up
and he's taken so long, I'm like, wow, the five
(19:07):
and he told me eleven am. It's eleven to fifteen.
He sent me at fast crack. I'll be right out
at SAP trying to cast chips. So he's trying to
cast thirty nine hundred ships he just took. And of
course guy find out why he just took a ten
thousand dollars shot before he left the craft David, and
he loses sixty one hundred and they wouldn't give him
(19:27):
his thirty one thirty. They wouldn't give him his thirty
nine hundred chips because he didn't have his ID was
put away. He was an ex fetcher going through his bag.
Look at first passport. I mean, he says, I cannot
believe what this place just did to meet it with
third I lost money. Then when they finally said where'd
you get the chips from? I mean, meanwhile, you know,
(19:47):
for the trip he broke even after being up like
thirty five thousand, he broke about it even and they're
asking him where he got the thirty thirty nine hundred chips.
I mean, it's just such a difference than what it
was even a decade ago or two decade to go. Everyone,
it's like what we can see now, you know. It's
like when when you come in, it's like everyone knew
your name. Would you drank who you were?
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Mister ceons Listen, Russ Bennett used to get me real
at the Maxim back in the day. We've talked about
that those days are our long gone. Crack. We just
got about a minute. I always appreciate having you way
overdue for lunch. We're kind of heading into the filler
sport area now. In terms of finding value, where you
are you finding any value in the markets right now,
whether it be in the NBA or baseball or anything else.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Listen, I do bet NBA props, UH player props over under.
We are betting baseball holding our own baseball, and we're
actually doing really good at NBA player props or you know,
points rebounds assistant, I still say the same thing, Bern,
It's really hard to beat NBA sides. It's really hard
(20:48):
to beat NFL sides. I don't know too many people
I can count on one hand that can beat these things.
But get to the most popular things to bet on
NBA sides, and now during the playoff, that gets tougher
and tougher. Lots of eyes on the NBA lot, the
networks covering the NBA, you know, stick to the secondary
markets things they pay little or you know, less attention to.
(21:11):
I think we should go with that, and that's an
easier thing to beat. Like I said, I've been around
the biggest gambling syndicates in the world. The last thirty years.
They do not mess with NBA side. So I'll just
sell you that. No, that's right, MBA just sick. Stick
to the stuff. That's smaller market guys.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Crack get some rest of my man. You take care
all right, Thank you, buddy, Thanks for having me on.
Take care of that is the legend. Bill Crackman Krackenberger.
You can follow me at Bill Crackman on Twitter. Everybody
loves crack and you'll hear them all fall on countdown
to kick off here on Fox Sports Radio Sunday Mornings.
I want to correct myself a Rick Friedman corrected me.
(21:51):
He says, Don Shulo went to five Super Bowls with
two teams. He said three. Correct I did. I blurted
that out and I knew that, but you know, every
now and then kind of dot a couple of holes
in my game. Thanks Rick, appreciate you listening.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Mallor
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
By the way, a little later in the show, might
you have an update for us regarding Ben Mahler's trek
to Charleston, South Carolina. No, okay, good enough? My man next.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
I know he's coming back tomorrow and then he will
give us the full details on the mule greed and
all that.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
I know he went to waffle House. I know he
went to We talked about it last week. He went
to a Piggy Wiggly. He went to all these establishments
there we don't have out here in California. So I'm
sure he'll give it. He's likes to save these things
and make people listen to the show to get the
four one one on those.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Well, fair enough. We talked about a Thursday night at
Google the place. It looks spectacular and I texted Ben.
I said, did you try the fish and chips? It's
a British pub, right And he says no, but I
did have a pretzel. So anyway, we'll get to I
guess you guys get the update on Monday.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
That I know Bernie. He also went to a Bucky.
I don't know if you're familiar with.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
This very much. So they're in tech. Those are huge
in Texas.
Speaker 5 (23:06):
Yeah, we've We've had people send us a lot of goodies.
Lorena has a blank places that she has all the
time from BUCkies. She wraps herself in.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
It, shout out to the blanket and.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
Yeah, so he visited a Bucky so we'll get an
update on that as well.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
And it's spelled like b U C C yesterd.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
How did he pronounce it, Lorena BUCkies?
Speaker 1 (23:28):
No, it's I think you're right, Eddie. And by the way,
happy Mother's Day, Lorena.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Oh, thank you.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Correct on Mother's Day. Uh but uh, the first time
I went there, I was driving from Houston to San Antonio.
It was about ten years ago, and I pulled off
because I don't know what it was. It's like this massive,
glorified truck stop. It's opulent. There is literally everything there.
I mean, I don't know what you couldn't buy there.
And it's really nice and clean and cool and it's
(23:55):
very unique. It's actually it's actually a touristy stop type
of a deal. If you are so inclined, by the way,
folks ready for a new job, let Express employment professionals
help express his hiring for jobs in a variety of
industries and job seekers never pay a feed Express check
out express pros dot com to find your location. That's
expresspros dot com. All right, did the Denver Nuggets smith
(24:19):
Is shot on Sunday. Every time I turned around, I
don't care if it was half court shots, fadeaways, layups,
three pointers, post offs. I mean, I was scratching my head.
And I got to tell you, I had Darren McKee
on from what our affiliates in Denver Altitude Sports Friday.
He predicted Denver was going to come back and ta
(24:39):
the series the way they did, and he was very emphatic,
and he kind of gave us a peek behind the
curtain that when Shaquille O'Neal interviewed Nikola Jokic after winning
the UNVP the other night and saying it was very
clunky and everybody loves shock, but this is one of
those times where you know he might have stepped it
a little bit, say oh, I love you, but I
think Shay Gill just should have won the MVP. It
(25:03):
went over like a fart in church. And I will
tell you that the Denver I guess they were all
watching in the locker room and they were pissed and
they kind of bounded a band together, like a band
of thieves. And let me tell you some Denver's playing angry.
They are playing like they are you know, their pants
on fire and it's raining gasoline. And if you watch Denver,
(25:27):
I don't want to use the old cliche, Well they
woke up on sleeping giant, but they did. This is
what the chance look like. And you knew Denver wouldn't
lie down. But you talk about a comeback. Whatever went
wrong in the first two games of the series clearly
seems to have been rectified. And that's taking nothing away.
You know from Minnesota. I love Anthony Edwards. He had
(25:51):
forty four points, but Denver's got this Batman and Robin tandem.
That's if you don't respect him by now, you need
to lie down, you know, with a cold compress, get
yourself some warm milk and soft music because you're out
of your mind. Okay, you need to pour yourself a
big glass of shut up juice. If you don't are
not respecting the Denver Nuggets. You got Jokic and you've
(26:13):
got Jamal Murray. Obviously, when one stops, the other one
picks up. And then Aaron Gordon was basically perfect first
ten shots and then he missed the last one with
you know, a couple of minutes to go in the game,
when basically it was decided it wasn't just dunks. He
had his fair share of those two, but he also
went two of two from behind the arc. And when
(26:36):
Aaron Gordon's doing that, you're gonna have a problem. And
when when Gordon's making threes, the Nuggets offense is completely unstoppable,
especially when you consider the way the Wolves are playing him.
And look, you know, you get a guy like Rudy Gobert,
he'll sag off of Gordon to provide help because he
has no interest in guarding him on the perimeter. So
you give Gordon a free shot and he hits it. Well,
(26:57):
you saw what happened. I mean, the bottom line, that
twenty six to four run really sealed it. And Minnesota
gave an effort. Okay, you know, maybe they say youth
is wasted on the young one. Not in the NBA,
they're getting a bit of a comuppets, But this is
still a very very good Minnesota Timberwolves team and they're
not done, but they are in trouble. And I'm concerned
(27:20):
because they tease the Minnesota faithful once again and here
we go. It's it's just it's a bummer, all right,
as far as Minnesota, and I say only good things
about Karl Anthony Towns because he's so talented and he's
you come to expect him to be this prolific offensive
(27:42):
player night in, night out, no matter what. But when
he has a stinker, he has one, and they're few
and far between, but when he has his stinker, it really,
it really stands out. It's really bad. And unfortunately, that's
exactly what happened on Sunday one to ten from the
field in the first half, only five of eighteen for
the game missed three or four shots from behind the arc.
With you know, his line score was a very quiet
(28:04):
thirteen points twelve rebounds. That's really not good enough for
a guy that Ann Edwards calls the team's best offensive player.
It just wasn't that Carl Towns had an offensive or
you know, had an off night. Everybody has an off night. Okay,
everybody has an off day. There's a story once you know,
George Clooney walked around the mall, well, this fly open.
(28:25):
No one told him. That doesn't define George Clooney. That
was one day. But Carl Towns had one of those
flies open moments. Because it wasn't just that he was
missing shots he was forcing some bad shots. He took
some horrendous shots because he looked like he was desperate
to get on track. And there was one in the
(28:48):
second quarter the Wolves were starting to try to cut
into that big Denver lead. Toms catches the ball. His
footwork was all Caddy wampus. He was in a very
bad position. He got into his shooting motion, he wasn't
even looking at the basket, forces up a long two
pointer there were still fifteen seconds left on the shot clock.
(29:10):
Those are the types of things that drive coaches crazy,
and you don't expect that kind of stuff from Karl
Anthony Towns. That prevented him from reaching him What will
people you want to label him as a superstar level.
He's been awesome. Okay, he's been awesome all year. He's
actually been pretty damn good the first three games of
the series, averaging over twenty blah blah blah blah. You know,
(29:31):
I don't want to give a bunch of numbers. But
so maybe this is just a anomally, but and Edwards
did everything he could. You gotta love that guy. They
just ran into the champs. Like I said, Mike Tyson
said it best everybody's got a plane. They get hit. Well,
they've been hit. The t Wolves have been hit. Let's
see what happens. There's only been six teams in history,
(29:53):
by the way, in the NBA that started out owing
to at home in a series and came back and
won the series. So the t Woolves aren't dead. But
it's the proverbio. Is it possible? They got one foot
in the grave and the other round of banana peel.
We shall see. Keep the faith folks there in the
Mendota Springs. It's not dead yet, but you know, you
(30:15):
better get out that rosary. You might have burns from
your rosary by the time this series is over coming. Up,
What the hell happened to the Knicks? Well, you know
what happened to the Knicks. You can see it heading
into the game. It's it's been coming for a while,
and let's just call it like we see it. I'm

(31:39):
dot Com. All right, Well, maybe the New York Knicks
can do the safety dads five men without hats on
the way back to New York, Because I got to
tell you, if that had been a fight earlier today
in Indiana, they would have stopped it pretty quickly. Let's
suffice it to say, I don't know. Maybe that's to
(32:00):
seventy eight complaints by the venerable Rick Carlisle work. But
anyway you slice it, Indiana's showed up and showed out,
opened up a tremendous can of whip ass on the
New York Micks one to eighty nine, eighty nine. So
if you had the Knicks plus thirty one and a
half right now, you are probably lighting your hair on
(32:23):
fire and putting out with attack hammer. You're not happy.
So all of a sudden, now, just like that, after
game four, the series is tied up a two a piece.
Now let's be be honest here, let's keep it one
hundred injuries have left the Knicks shorthanded. They were short
handed entering the game, but once Indiana opened up that
(32:45):
cut over the eye, they got worse from there. You
suffice it to say the Knicks started slow and then fading.
They got blitzed by the Pacers right from the start.
It was thirty one to fourteen in the first quarter
before the seats were even warm. By the fourth quarter,
the Pacers lineup was resting out of the bench. I'm guessing.
(33:09):
The parents of the bench players called the coach and said,
can my son play out? Well they did. They didn't
need to play anymore. Tyre Salibert, No nothing, twenty points,
eight to fifteen for to three pointers. But moreover, the
Pacers held the Micks to a brutal, putrid, pathetic, stinky
thirty three percent performance from the field, from the field,
(33:31):
not just from behind the ark, from the entire field.
Anyway you size this game up, Indiana just simply dominated
every facet. It's very rare, very rare for a playoff
game to be decided in the first quarter with the
Pacers up by twenty after twelve minutes earlier Sunday against
(33:51):
the Knicks team that one of the things they've done
is they've perfected the Fred Sandford walk. They all looked
like a bunch of Fred Sandford's walking around. And if
you don't get that, google the Sanford and someone of
the great shows of all time. Sham on you. If
you don't know who Red Fox is, read a damn book. Okay,
I don't care. If you were alive, I wouldn't alive
during the War of eighteen twelve. Read a damn book.
(34:13):
They look like Fred Sandford walking around out there. The
Knicks are hobbled. But there's no other conclusion other to
come away with, and that is the Pacers just simply
dominated them. And it's not just that the Knicks were
dealing with injuries. The Pacers just took advantage and cut
them off with the knees. When you only score fourteen
points in the first quarter of a playoff game, something
(34:37):
really really wrong here. What happened, Lucy? The Pacers not
only that, were far more physical and this one of
the analysts said this halftime of game won that the
Knicks better watch it if they decide they're going to
try to run with the Pacers the entire series. Well,
(34:57):
the Pacers don't run like that. Old amc Pace are
back in nineteen seventy four. They're fast, Their transition game
is quite good. It's a recipe for disaster. It might
have been Sunday because the Pacers were not only more physical,
they ran faster. Oh yeah, by the way, they hit
more shots, and they were more focused. And did I
mention they dominated and executed better. The next just did not.
(35:21):
They had nothing in return for the Pacers. Nothing in
the first quarter, and then it continued throughout the game.
By halftime, the Patriers led by twenty eight. In the end,
the Pacers come away with a massive blow out victory
that really changes the dynamic and the storyline for the
two teams as they head to New York for Tuesday.
And I'm looking forward to that because the Pacers could
(35:42):
have easily won Game two and pissed it away. And
I know they complained about the bad calls. Nicks. You
can't call the must win because it's only three games.
You gotta win four. But I will tell you this,
you don't want to go back to INDI end if
you're the next down three games to two. Again, give
it up to Tyrese Halliburton. You know, the NBA does
(36:03):
a great job of promoting their stars. He used their star.
TJ McConnell also had a great game and he's coming
off the bench. And look it was. It was a
real team effort by Indiana and they just they didn't
even they weren't even breathing hard beating the Knicks. There's
a I guarantee you somebody will say the next didn't
show up because it did look like a bit of
a lack of effort or lack thereof and seemed to
(36:24):
be out of a character whose team has been defined
by their energy this year. But when when you're out
rebounded as badly as they did they were on Sunday,
you sort of have to question that situation. And if
you if you've watched the Knicks all year, uh, you
know they don't do anything easy. And I can team
a Turner man. They don't do anything easy, and you know,
(36:45):
I think they're worn out. I think they're worn out
because they couldn't get back in transition. The Pacers kept
beating him down the floor every time they could. The
Knicks were missing their defensive rotations, they filled the grab
loose balls, they were short in their jump shots. That's
tired legs man. Josh Hart's normal a badass. He looked
like he looked like he needed to drink ten Red
bulls just to get up and on the floor. So
(37:06):
the Knicks did not look like themselves Sunday, and they
finished in a way that usually is not very Nixian.
We'll see what they do Tuesday. Coming up. NHL playoffs
are raging. Do we almost have another Heidi Bowl? We'll
explain with Eddie. Keep it locked it's the Berney Frattle Show,
Ben ballor Show. Fox Sports Radio,
