We will get to that here momentarily.

Well, good evening to you, mister No. Yeah, everything's fine.
Thank you for asking. How are you.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
I'm good man, things are good.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
I've got some audio a little bit later in the
show that I think your wife would would be interested in.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
Too bad, she's not listening.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Well, I didn't expect her to catch it live.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
But you know, if it's if it's worthy, I'll pass
it along.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
I think her, being the Chargers fan that she is,
I think she'd be interested in some of the things
that Davante Adams.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Right, I did hear about this at home.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
I did hear about this so good. I love it.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
Yeah, well, being a proud Fresno State alone, just like
Davante Adams. Yeah, one of the bulldog greats. Let's put
it this way. When Derek Carr was the quarterback of
the Raiders, it made for a little friction in my
in my house because Derek Carr is also was a
you know, is a Fresno Stater and no longer with
the Raiders. But my wife hates the Raiders with a
(01:57):
passion of the Thousand Suns. So she would talk a
lot of trash, and then she'd bring up Derek Carr
and be like, oh, hold on, hold on, hold on.
You cheered for him when he was at President State.
Now and you can you can think what you want,
but be respectful to me.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
By the way, where did she go Did she go
there too?
Speaker 5 (02:16):
No? My wife, Okay, yeah, she went to school here
in Los Angeles.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Oh, okay, all right. I never asked you about that.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
But the thing that caught my attention, Eddie, is something
that this head coach said something that just you shouldn't
say this whatsoever. So this is Mike Gundhy.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Oh yes, I don't man, I'm forty.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
I have to look up how old Myke Gundhy is
right now. He's got to be past fifty at this point.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
I'm looking up for you.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, the man I'm forty rant was a long time ago.
He's up to fifty six. Wow, that that rant was sixty.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
I was doing the trouble of looking it up and
then you just you served me.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Hey, sorry, I was curious.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
We're faster on the on the keyboard than I was quicker.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
So the story, Eddie, is that Oklahoma State running back
Ali Gordon, who's a really, really good running back, he
was recently arrested for a dui and so they have
Big Twelve Media Days now. Ali Gordon was there on Tuesday.
He issued a formal apology on Monday for this dui arrest,
(03:25):
and then he attended Big twelve Media Days on Tuesday. Now,
his head coach, Mike Gundy also attended Big twelve media days.
So he was trying to explain why this star running
back Ali Gordon was not suspended. He's not gonna miss
any games for this dui arrest, now, Eddie. I think
(03:49):
Mike Gundy starts off pretty well. You started listening to this,
and you're like, okay, all right, he's level headed while
explaining why there's no suspension, and then it goes hard
left turn right off the ravine. Listen to what Mike
Gundy had to say as to why you started running
back was not suspended for a dui arrest.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
When I looked at it, I thought, okay, I'm gonna
be real honest with myself first and then make the
best decision for what I think is good for Allie,
our university, and our team. And then I start thinking
about being a parent. I have a twenty eight, I
have a twenty three and a nineteen, and first I thought, okay,
(04:32):
so I looked it up on my phone. What would
be the legal limit like in Oklahoma's point eight and
Ollie was point one. So I looked it up and
it was based on body weight. Not to get into
the legal side of it, but I thought, really, two
or three beers or four. I'm not justifying what all
(04:54):
he did. I'm telling you what decision I made. Well,
I thought I've probably done that a thousand times in
my life.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
So that's kind of the reasoning as to why Ali
Gordon was not suspended was because the head coach said, well, hell,
I've done that myself a thousand times.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
I just wasn't unlucky enough to get pulled over.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
So you know, lace them up, get ready Ali for
Week one college football action.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Good lord, what do you think of that?
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Yeah, well, very honest.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
He was honest.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
He has been you know, you know how long he's
been at Oklahoma State.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
It's been a long time.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
This is his twentieth year Wow as the Cowboys head coach.
And he's I mean, there's certainly a level of comfort
in his job apparently.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
I know.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Look, he's he's been very successful. I mean, they go
to Bolga. Maybe that's not saying that much, but you
know what I'm saying that that's I mean, I'm sure
Oklahoma State fans are like, hey, you know, at some point,
we'd like to win the Big Twelve at some point,
which I think he's done once. Uh, but you know,
he has a you know, gets ten wins a lot,
(06:07):
that kind of thing. But yeah, it's it's it's look,
when you have a player that gets arrested for a dui,
you have that's very serious and he needs to be suspended.
It's not that hard, right, And I don't know who
Oklahoma State's playing in their first game of the year,
but I mean, I don't even think anyone is going
to be outraged if it's you know, one or two
(06:27):
games against whoever, you know what I mean, and then
no one's saying suspended for the year or dropping from
the team. I think people are realistic, especially with a
star player. I mean we not just the way it is,
but that I mean, just some accountability that you know what,
this isn't okay, It is something we take seriously now.
And for him to just say, you know, well I've
(06:49):
done it, I mean he probably should say I've done
it and I shouldn't have done it, you know, I mean,
that's not he didn't get caught, is basically what he's saying.
Or or maybe he did and they were like, oh,
it's the coach in Oklahoma State, Well let it go.
I don't know, but come on, man.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yeah, it was really really poorly executed, because you have
to know that question is coming your way.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Well, I'll put it this way.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
When there's a follow up statement to the original statement.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
You know you really what statement?
Speaker 3 (07:21):
So the follow up statement was and this is even
more peculiar quote. My intended point today at Big twelve
media days was that we are all guilty of making
bad decisions. It was not a reference to something specific.
It sounded like he specifically said he's done that thousands
of times.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
I don't I don't know.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Yeah, yeah, sou not a well executed statement by Mike Gundy.
But to your point, Eddie, and this is the best point,
is most of these schools do not start off with
tough non conference games right out of the gate. There
are a few exceptions here and there, but for the
most part, they are not tough games. For Oklahoma State,
(08:03):
they're not even playing an FBS school. They're playing South
Dakota State.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
Oh my, that's funny. I was gonna say something like
South Dakota just just to be funny, and there you.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Go, Yeah, there it is.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
That's a They take on the jack Rabbits, who are
good at the FCS level, But when you go play
the big boys. It's it often doesn't go too well.
So if there's ever a game to suspend Ali Gordon for,
it's the first game against a team that's not even
an FBS squad.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Meanwhile, there's no.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Much right yeah, well and meanwhile there's no suspension, And
it's so clunky the explanation, like, well, I've gotten lucky,
I haven't gotten pulled over, so.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
So what what what? What are you getting at, Mike?
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Like Ali was just unlucky and now you're clumsily walking
through this, like you gotta have a better game plan.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
You're the head coach. You preach about being prepared and
all of that. He wasn't even close to prepare to
answer this question that was as obvious as it gets.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
What did Mike Gundy think was going to be asked
before Big twelve media days? You know, hey, what do
you think about that Jack Rabbits offense?
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Come on? Of course Ali Gordon was going to be
brought up.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
I think it was pretty clear he didn't. He didn't
think well that his response was going to be that
big a deal. He thought he was being honest and
you know, keeping it real and uh and and that
would be appreciated, but not so much.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Is this the old Dave Chappelle when keeping it real
goes wrong? Is that what just happened to Mike Gundy.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Yeah, I've done it thousands of times, and uh, you know,
I'm all right.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
I mean he.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
Could have said he could have said something like, you
know what, I've done this before, and I understand maybe
where it doesn't seem like it's a big deal, but
it is a big deal and I need to be
more responsible. He needs to be more responsible that kind
of thing, right, would that have been an except well
kind of I'm relating it to myself, but I'm still
showing you that this is this is serious and I've
(10:06):
learned something from this as well, you know, something like that.
I don't know there was a way he could have
kind of kept it real but also done the right thing.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Right.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
I don't think any any player get that gets a
d U I should go unscathed that. It's just like,
you know, there's got to be some kind of punish
with that.
Speaker 7 (10:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
By the way, I'm not one to comment on men's
hair too often, and this is radio. I watched the
Mike Gundy clip there where man that guy's got to
he should be doing hair care product commercials or something.
That's guys. He's got some pretty good lettuce.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
There, Yeah he does. He's had the uh, you know,
the longer hair in the back. Yeah, why Billy Ray Cyrus.
But along those lines, you know, the mullet going on.
He's had that for a little while.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
It's part of his uh, part of his stick.
Speaker 7 (10:54):
Now.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
I guess it's.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Still going strong. Yeah, still going strong, I think because.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Had the channel. Ben mallord there for a minute. You
can't say the word spear, he says, spear. Really, that's
the there's another word that he can't say.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Ben's gone. Nobody likes a snitch, Lorena.
Speaker 8 (11:18):
You just get stitches.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Yeah, I have a problem with you again exclamation. I
normally can't get it right the first I lazily. I
can't say, like the c you don't know.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
What it is.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
I've tried because I screwed it up so many times. Yeah,
I'm so aware of it now. Yeah, anything you screw
up there, Eddie. Besides, I get them all right, you
get it.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
There's there's no mistake.
Speaker 9 (11:49):
There's ones that Ben does that he's been like corrected
on before. But he still doesn't.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
There's another one. There's you think it's on purpose.
Speaker 9 (11:58):
Certain ones, like he says Brooklyn, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
You know what Coop schooled me on one thing I don't. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
I always thought it was the auto bond, and when
we were doing overnight weekends, he told me in a
very cool way, it's like, it's actually just auto bond.
And I'm like really, And I looked it up the
whole thing. But yeah, I would have still said auto
bond if not for Coop.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Oh wow, I don't. That must have been a long time.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
It was a long time ago.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Yeah, but you know those moments where you're just like,
oh shoot, I didn't even know it was one of
those moments.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
So I'll never forget that one. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
But yeah, Mike Gundy not well executed, not a good job.
And Ollie Gordon should be suspended against the jack Rabbits
in week one. That's the bare minimum. But I guess
he's gonna be suiting up. That's the case right now.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific, Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 10 (13:03):
Polly Foods Gohea with Tony Foodsco. Yeah, as everybody knows,
we're the hosts of the award winning Polly Antoni Foodsco Show. Yeah,
but instead of us telling you how great we are,
here's how Dan Packrick described us when he came on
our show.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
You don't interrupting our promo.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, he wasn't talking about you. You took those clips
totally out of context.
Speaker 10 (13:26):
Oh yeah, well after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Let me put this into context.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Shut up.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (13:33):
Anyway, just listen to the Polly Antoni Fusco Show on iHeartRadio,
Apple podcasts oherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
Yea, there's a hideous idea Eddie. While we're talking ball
of course meaning football. Yeah, Joe Burrow, Bengals quarterback. He
was on the Pardon My Take show, He was a
guest there, and he's talking about this eighteen game NFL
schedule that we're gonna have in the not too distant future,
(14:01):
and so he's like, why I got an idea? He's like,
how about we do this? How about we have two
bye weeks? That part makes sense and he says, how
about a league wide bye week around week thirteen so
we can highlight.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
The Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
That would be a pretty good idea, Eddie, this is
a freaking terrible idea. Why would we just stop football.
Nobody's playing in week thirteen and we're going to focus
all of our attention on the Pro Bowl, which by
the way, is a flag football game. Now, with all
these random events around it, that's the only thing that
(14:40):
would be going on in week thirteen. That's a terrible idea.
I'm all for two bye weeks, but not like that.
We can't have a full weekend with no NFL that'd
be crazy.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Well, this is shocking to hear you say something that
you don't like about the NFL, because usually you just
like anything they do, you think is the greatest thing
in the world. No, but I was at the we
were talking about like going to things. I was at
the last real Pro Bowl, which wasn't it was like
the first. It was the last one. They were in
pads in Vegas, and it was so awful that they
(15:13):
decided we can't do this anymore. We have to have
a flag football game instead. So yeah, I've never cared
for the Pro Bowl. I've never thought it was important,
although you know, most of the All Star games have
fallen on hard times. Even even baseball is not what
it once was. It's it's the closest thing we have
to having the you know, the legitimate game. But yeah,
(15:36):
I'm not I'm not big on the idea, to be
honest with you.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
No, it's what they would do is that I would
I imagine they would have two bye weeks because you
have to.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
It's too many. Yeah, too many damn games.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
It's a long season.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
And that's the thing is it'd be great for the
NFL because you could have the Super Bowl the day
before President's Day and then that's a day off for
most people. So that's been talked about quite a bit.
It'd be awesome if we had Monday off yet, Well,
you could if you have an eighteen game schedule and
just position it that way with the extra bye week.
(16:08):
Most people have Monday off due to President's Day, so
that would work. I just hate the idea of week thirteen,
We're just gonna have the Pro Bowl like that.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
That's hideous.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
There's gotta be a better way where they stagger the
bye weeks. They do it throughout most of the season
the way it is right now, right, Eddie, with just
one bye week, So you'd have to get a little
bit creative with staggering a second bye week. But it's
a better it's a better approach for the NFL than
just saying everybody gets week thirteen off. We just have
(16:41):
the Pro Bowl. Who's playing in the Pro Bowl mid season?
By the way, you know, no one wants to play
in that thing after the season. No one's playing mid season.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
No one's really playing in it now as it I mean,
it is, it's just there's running around. It's it's a joke,
it is.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
It's bad.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Have you seen, like I've made the mistake of watching
it one year because I'm like, I'm just curious.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
What they're doing.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
They're like catching a football from a helicopter, you know,
to it all this randomly, Eddie.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
It's so bad, so bad.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
They had like a creative catch, like you'll, I don't
know if they jumped from a trampoline, I'm not sure,
but they would jump up in the air and try
to catch the ball and fall onto a pad.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
It's freaking terrible, Eddie. It's awful.
Speaker 5 (17:32):
I believe you. I totally believe it sounds awful. You
talking about it sounds awful.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Yeah, but we're gonna just structure everything around that in
week thirteen, Like that's insane. Are you in favor of
an eighteen game schedule? Would you keep it at seventeen?
Speaker 5 (17:46):
I would keep it at seventeen. Honestly, I know it's
gonna be eighteen, and so it's I've kind of just
it's gonna happen. I know it's gonna happen, so there's
no sense in really getting too upset about it. But
I'd keep it at seventeen.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Yeah, it's gonna happen. I don't know how long it's
gonna take.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
I guess.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Peter King, he wrote about this a couple of years ago,
that it could take effect as soon as twenty twenty five, right, Like,
we might have this in the not too distant future.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
But it's happening.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
You're just hearing more and more and more about it
that it's just a matter of time until we get there.
But yeah, it's it's certainly gonna be a situation. Even
Mike Florio, he reported on this last month, Players Association,
they're already bracing for the possibility here's the thing for
(18:40):
the player's side. You gotta get something in your favor,
not just a second bye week.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
That's the layup part of this eddie.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
They've gotta be better at negotiating these NFL team owners.
They must look at the players and the Players Association
like these guys can't go ohiate to save their lives.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
They're just running over them.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
No, no, no, you're right. I'm sure Jeff Schwartz has
talked about this with you and the shows you've done together.
I know Brady Quinn on The Two Pros and a
Cup of Joe has said the same thing, and he's
talked about like universal health care for all players, you
know what I mean, past and present and future, something
really really big and substantial like that. And I'm like, yeah,
(19:25):
he's right, they've got I mean, you know, the league
and the owners want this eighteenth game, yeah, and they're
gonna get it. But this is your right. This is
your chance to really get something you want in return.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:37):
And if they don't do it, they're fools.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
I love the idea of healthcare for all the players.
That would be something significant, not just okay, we'll give
you a second by week, which they are probably gonna
do anyway.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
Yeah, that's the bare minimum. That's yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
The NFL probably wants that.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
It's like, oh, okay, we could do like the Sunday
before President's Day. Most people have the day off in
this country. That's a win. They probably want to do
that on their own anyway. But of course they're going
to act like, oh, we don't want to do this
at all.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
But if that's what it's gonna take, all right.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
And the players are like, hey, we got something, and
the owners are like, yeah, yeah, sure you did so. Yeah,
hopefully this is their chance to get something significant. But
I'm not gonna hold my breath that they will. You know,
they just should, doesn't mean they actually will come through
on that.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.

Oh? Hi, Steve.
Speaker 7 (21:33):
Hey, So I have a rocky relationship with my girlfriend's mother.
Oh and yeah, and the other.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Day she said something to me that I'm still kind
of upset about.
Speaker 8 (21:48):
Well what did she say?
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Well, she said, Steve, it's important for you to always
remember Aaron.
Speaker 10 (21:59):
Rodgers still like maybe powder is here bottom Yeah, no way.
Speaker 8 (22:05):
Never talked to her again. Like you probably should break
up with your girlfriend over that type of stuff.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Man, Max.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Does seem like a it's a bad situation right there.
Mike is in Vegas has some some questions for Loreena.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Mike, what is going on?
Speaker 7 (22:26):
Hello, Hell, Lorena, how are you doing?
Speaker 8 (22:29):
I'm good, Mike, how are you?
Speaker 7 (22:33):
I've never better than myself? And daggings if somebody still wow.
Speaker 8 (22:39):
You sound like you're having a great night.
Speaker 7 (22:42):
