(00:23):
Eddie had a few storylines going on in sports today
right or I should say on Monday. One of them
was Bronnie James. Now here's the deal. A couple of things,
painless points to make. First off, Bronnie James. He made
one shot. He was one for five against the Boston Celtics.
(00:47):
But the ovation he got he hit a shot Eddie
with about four minutes to go to trim the deficit
to eleven. Okay, the Laker were trailing by eleven points
after he hit this jumper with about four minutes to play.
But listen to the crowd. That's how it's undered on
(01:09):
ESPN to.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
James two on the shot clock.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
James, crowd appreciates it.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Loud ovation here Thomas and Mack for Bronnie James.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Pretty wild right again.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
It cut the lead to eleven with four minutes to
go and the crowd erupted, which, hey, whatever, they're behind
Bronnie James. That's fine, no issue with that whatsoever. My
takeaway is this, Eddie, Look, I think that you can
root for Bronnie while being real about Bronnie.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Like, if you point out that he has been horrible
in Summer League action. He's seven for thirty one from
the field, he's zero for fifteen from three point range.
To some it might sound like you're rooting against this guy.
You're negative, right, It's like, no, I'm rooting for him.
I hope he makes it. I hope that why because
(02:09):
he didn't sign up.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
For any of this.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
He didn't no, like he didn't want to what he
didn't sign up for. He's gonna be scrutinized for every
little thing he does. He's he's not a normal fifty
fifth overall pick. They showed us side by side picture, right,
That's what I mean is they showed a side by
side picture of Lebron's first Summer League game and he's
(02:35):
just surrounded by reporters. And then it showed Bronni's first
Summer League game a week or so ago. Surrounded by
the same amount of reporters. That's only because he's a
Lebron's kid. We all know that he didn't sign up
for any of that. He can't ease in as a
fifty fifth overall pick. He's going to be scrutinized and
criticized and all that stuff. That's why I don't have
(02:56):
any reason to root against him. It's like, yeah, this
is clearly nepotism, but again, that's not his fault. He's
just a kid trying to make it in the NBA.
I'm not rooting against him as far as that goes.
But I'm also not gonna hide my head in the
sand and act.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Like he's balling out here.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
He's all for fifteen from three point range, so it
can be both. Doesn't mean you're automatically rooting against him.
If you point out the fact that he's been bad
in four Summer League games.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Okay, but let's not make him out to be some
kind of a victim here. I mean, he's gotten He's
get so many benefits of bringing the son of Lebron James,
including having a job and getting millions of dollars, and
I'm supposed to feel sorry for him that he didn't
sign up for this.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Well, I'm not saying feel sorry for the guy. I
never said, but why would you root for him?
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Why would you root for someone who has a job
that he didn't deserve. You don't have to root against him,
but root for him.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Well, I think because he's facing this uphill battle that
other players battle.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
He's gonna be on the team. There's no uphill battle.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
He's serious right now, there's no uphill battle.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
He's gonna make the team. He doesn't have to do anything.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
What other battle?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
What other fifty fifth overall pick is facing half of
the scrutiny Bronni James is facing.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Who cares?
Speaker 3 (04:22):
He's on a team making millions of dollars, He's gonna
get scrutiny. Oh, no, scrutiny. Who cares?
Speaker 2 (04:30):
But that's what I'm saying. That's where you and IEM.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Sure, that's fine. Anybody would sign up for that. And
I'm not trying to make it sound like, oh woe
is Bronni Jake. I'm telling you why I root for
the guy is because he's facing criticism, negativity, all this
stuff just because he's Lebron's kid.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
I don't get it.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
He's also he's all please him, being the son of
Lebron James is one hundred times greater than any criticism
or any scrutinies.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Okay, but that doesn't mean there aren't any drawbacks. That's
the thing, absolutely, so like, don't act like there aren't
drawbacks when there clearly are.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
But when you're weighing the scales of the greatness of
being Lebron jameson to the the things that are against you,
the scales are tips on it.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
But this is the thing is it's tomato tomato, it's
this is my personal feeling. That doesn't mean it's wrong.
Like I'm rooting for Bronnie. You might not be rooting
for Bronni. That's fine. What did we have earlier in
the show where we were talking about painful defeats the
most bitter loss and there was a Lions fan right
(05:44):
and he said, oh, the sixty six yard field goal
that sucked, and that the NFC Championship game the second
half that was, you know, like the second worst thing.
And I was like, how could that be the second
worst thing? The sixty six yard field goal is a
regular season game. The NFC title games way worse. And
what did you say, Eddie, what did you You're like,
up to him, it's up to him.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Well, it's up to me too, And I'm rooting for James.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
It's up to me to call you out on it.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
How how can you call for rooting for Broddie James? Huh?
How for a lot of people rooting for Broddie j And.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Your reasoning for rooting for Bronnie James is because, oh,
he's under so much scrutiny. I feel sorry for him.
I didn't say I feel sorry for him. Then why
are you I just.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Told you he's facing scrutiny because other what other round pick? No, seriously,
what other second round pick in the history of the
NBA draft has faced as much negativity as the.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Other set has been guaranteed a job in the NBA
with millions of dollars, even though he didn't earn it.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Jannie's brother, then that the Kumba exactly. He shouldn't be
on an NBA roster. The only reason he is is
because he's Giannis's brother.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Maybe you're right, I have no idea. I have no idea,
I have no clue. So if if that's the case,
then he doesn't belong there either. But I'm not rooting
for anybody who gets a job for not being qualified.
Right in's articular, I mean, that's a dream come true.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
There are guys like you go back in the day.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
I remember when Rodman was playing for the Spurs and
Todd Haley he was like Rodman's buddy, and he was
on the roster because no.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
No, not Todd Haley. Todd Haley was a coach for
the Steelers. It was no, it was it wasn't Todd Haley.
It was Oh god, he played at U c l A.
I worked with him for Fox Sports. For God's sakes,
he's passed away. Unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
It's Haley.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Bill Haley, Bill Haley, Bill Haley.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Jacket, Jack ha Lee.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
It's got there.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
It is Jack, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
But right like they're from the same planet, right like,
like Jack Haley at that stage of his career, he's
just on a roster because a Rodman like this has
happened four.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
On a roster though, because he was like sitting in
street clothes like the whole time he was He's like, I.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Think he played it for a little bit there with
the Spurs when Rodman was there.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
I think there was a time he was just Rodman's
like handler.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
That's right, that's what I'm telling you. Like this has
happened before.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
It's not just a you're gonna root for him because
he's got all the headaches he had to deal with
the trying to keep Dennis Rodman in line. Oh, I
can't believe that guy.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
I root for thanasis like he's facing an uphill battle.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
But it's true, Eddie. You can spin it however you want.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
I'm not spinning anything. I'm just giving you the facts.
I am sill spin.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
I'm giving you facts. Where So you killed their second
round pick, but you half as much.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
But you can't admit that when you're again, when you're
weighing the scales, that that's nothing compared to all the
benefits he's getting from being Lebron James kid.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
There's no doubt he can't. Yes, he's benefited greatly. He
probably he wouldn't. He probably wouldn't have been drafted. He
wouldn't have been drafted, probably wouldn't have been drafted.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
No chance he would have been drafted.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Okay, he wouldn't be with the Lakers right now. So
that has worked out. But to act like there are
no drawbacks.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
I didn't see there are no drawbacks, but the idea
that I'm supposed to feel bad for him because he's
getting more scrutiny than any second round pick in the
history of the NBA.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I'm not telling you like that's what you've gathered.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
That's exactly exact the NBA.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I'm not saying you should feel bad for him. I'm
not saying I feel bad for him. I'm saying that's
why I'm rooting for him.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
It was wrong with.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
That, It's there's so many things wrong with that.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
No, there isn't nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
But what is what? What feels good about this whole story?
What feels good about this?
Speaker 2 (09:57):
What do you mean?
Speaker 3 (09:57):
What feels like you're saying you're rudy?
Speaker 6 (10:00):
All right?
Speaker 2 (10:01):
What feels good about this? A couple of things. One,
we've never had a father son.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
We've never had a father and son in the NBA
at the same time, let alone.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Be teams, and we still shouldn't have. Okay, But the
reason Ken Griffy Junior and King Griffach Senior was so
amazing is that they both are legit and major leaguers. Okay,
that was so cool.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
We've had other situations where there have been father and
son in the league at the same time in baseball.
That's not just if that was the only time ever
in the history of Major League Baseball and Ken Griffy
Junior was freaking terrible. I would still think that was
a cool story that they're in the dugout together.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
It's dad and lad. There's a cool aspect to that.
Is there nothing.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Cool whatsoever with Lebron and BROWNI on the same squad.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
No, it's anti cool. It's it's fit fabricated. It's completely fabricated.
It's way cool.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Thank you, Coop. Freeze it over here. Justin Cooper, Oh
my god, Coop.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Coop would want Lebron to do anything you wanted, as
long as you say, is he played on the Lakers,
He could rename the team. No, he could change the
uniforms whatever he wants, he says the other day, as
long as Lebron's happy, what do I care?
Speaker 7 (11:17):
What do I carry that look that Browny is on
the team. I wouldn't be okay with him changing the
name of it.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Why not? Why not Lebron happy? It's all about keeping
him happy.
Speaker 7 (11:26):
Changing the name of the teams around who the pick
number fifty five in the drag is. It's just a name,
no stop it that they're not equivalent. And also it's
objectively cool whether or not it's for my team or
or another team. It was cool when Ken Griffy Junior
(11:47):
played with Ken Griffy.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
That's what I just said. That was that was cool
because that was legitimate. Yeah, but Ken Griffy Jr. Was
a superstar and his dad was a legit major leaguer
for decades.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
But that's what I'm saying, Eddie, is even if Ken
Griffy Jr. Was freaking awful, like he was the equivalent
of Bronni James, I would still.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Know that if it was fabricated. And the only reason
he played on the same team and the Sattle Maris
is because his dad orchestrated it, because his dad wanted
the organization to do a favor because of all the
great things he's done for them.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
That's who can I don't know, if you're as outspoken
about so many other situations, are you hating on fanasas
I don't even know.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Years so much is because this is a.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Lebron The circumstances were that Jannie's brother got drafted and
is on the team because of his brother, Then that's
that's a bunch of crap.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Too, right, Okay, fine, but that's what I'm saying is,
where's the consistency if this guy, why aren't you on
the rampage about everything?
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Here? We're giving Lebron James' son updates, scores in the
update and in the show, doing the Nasas's store stat.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Line listen here here.
Speaker 7 (13:04):
But that's kind of Brian's point, right, is that the
Nasais doesn't have to hear all of these people talking
proud about him, and that he doesn't deserve it because
he's not the son of Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
He's just the brother of Giannis.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Absolutely, if we were pro wrestlers, I would have been
in the middle of the and I would be.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Reaching to tag in Justin Cooper.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Reach it right, argument, what negativity has the NASAs faced
compared to Browny. You don't even you're not even aware
he's on the bucks with Yanni's flow, I'm not aware.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Of about eight of the NBA players. So it's not
really a this is not really a revelation.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
But that's the point. Like this, you're the perfect example.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Like you don't follow the NBA, you don't, you don't
seek it out, like you just said, you don't find
it's no big issue.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
It's not your thing. It's like me with the NHL,
it's not my thing. I only know a little bit.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
You could still have an opinion. It's some superstar NHL
player told the team we got to have my son
on the team even though he sucks. Then you could
have an opinion on that.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
But that's the point, though, is this is such a
huge story and he's facing such scrutiny and such negativity
that you're fully aware of it, you know what I mean.
Like there are other examples where it just flies under
the radar, like the NASAs.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
I just think it's hilarious that you think the scrutiny
he's getting somehow is outweighs all the benefits he's getting,
and that that makes root for the guy him. Clearly,
that's more important to you than all the boloney that
he's that he's getting from getting a job and getting
a contract and taking up a roster spot of some
(14:53):
other guy who deserves it more than he does. The
scrutiny he's getting is that's a bigger deal to you.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
You want to root for him, Well, it's part of
the deal. I never said it was the deal. I'm
just saying that's part of the overall landscape with Bronnie James.
I didn't say that's the only one. Reasons, Well, that's
the main reason.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Was it.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
He's facing a ton of criticism that no other second
round picks ever had.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
The face.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Is the only benefactor of anybody else.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
That's better. He can get some counseling to be able
to try and deal with all this extra scrutiny is getting.
It must be awful.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
You're gonna hate this headline here, Eddie and I would
admit this is fully ridiculous. Some of the Bronny coverage
is totally over the top. So there was an alert,
you know, you get these video alerts and stuff, and
it said Bronnie James denies lob and the explanation was,
Bronnie takes on four Celtics in transition and swats aliup
(16:04):
attempt out of bounds. It sounds like he made the
winning play in Game seven of the NBA Finals. You know,
it's totally over the top. It's just a little alleop
attempt that he swatted away.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
It was a nice defensive play. It was nothing crazy, right.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
I'll fully admit some of the coverage is totally over
the top, and there are plenty of media members that
are trying to act like Bronnie James is balling out
there when he hasn't done anything. He's over fifteen from
three point range. He's been freaking terrible. I will fully
admit that. But at the same time, I have no
reason to be like for me, I hope this guy
(16:45):
fails miserably.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I hate this whole story. I'm just not like that.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Man.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
I know this is a ridiculous nepotism situation here, but
I'm not rooting for him.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
I'm rooting. I'm not rooting against him, Edie, I'm rooting
for the guy. We're not on the same page.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
On this one. Good I don't want to be on
your page on this one.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Are you a question for you, Eddie? Honestly? Are you
hoping that Brownni fails so badly?
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Right?
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Like, I don't have to hope for it, Brian, He's.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
That doesn't matter. Are you hoping for that?
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Are you if you were to watch a game like
the NBA season rolls around he spends a bunch of
time in the G League, but he gets called up
for a game or two. That's gonna happen when he
gets on the court with Lebron. Are you like miss?
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Just no, No, I don't have to because he's gonna
miss anyway. I don't have to root against him.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Question the question, I don't care.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
I don't care. I really don't.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
So how can you not care but then care because
I'm rooting for him?
Speaker 2 (17:45):
How does that work?
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Because it doesn't make my not caring means I don't
care about anything really that goes on in the NBA.
To be honest with you, I mean, we can discuss
all kinds of things just to have a fun argument,
but I'm not passionate about it. And I don't care
about the Lakers. So if he's their team and he stinks,
what do I care? So I'm not rooting against him
because I'm not getting anything out of it. You know,
(18:07):
he doesn't play on some other art some team. Like
if I was a Laker fan, I probably would be
rooting against him because I want him off the team
because I think this is ridiculous. But I don't. I mean,
why would I root against him. I just think he
is what he is. He's a terrible player. He has
no business being on that team or in the league.
And it's really it's just a joke. I mean, I'm
against nepotism, I guess is my big thing.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Hey, that's fine.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
It's just as funny to me that you won't root
against him. You're just rooting against me rooting for him, right.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
I don't understand your your rationale in this, I really don't.
It just doesn't. Like I said, is the scales on
this are so one sided that he's getting so much
that the little bit of negativity is like, who cares?
That's it's nothing.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
No, it's he's getting because you said.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
These headlines are acting like he's he's winning the game,
bl blah blah blah. There's war is the criticism? Where
is he?
Speaker 1 (19:10):
I mean, oh, Eddie, come on, man, there's plenty of criticism.
That's one thing.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
That's well, But everyone's carrying the water in the NBA
for Lebron, Like who who on national television is calling James.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
You'd have to go to social media. You're not gonna
get you. It's hardly anything real.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Then that's not real criticism. Anybody on social media can
say anything. There's so much nonsense on social media. Who cares?
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Kids are? That's the kid's hang out with social media.
If you just went it's not.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
The it's not the real world though they think it is,
but it isn't.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Well, it just matters what you think you know, and
there's some realness to it.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Like radio.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Listen, do you love when you check out? Let me
see what's going on with Twitter here today? And it
was just a steady stream of Garcia. You're the worst,
You're awful. Why does Fox even in deploy you? Blah
blah blah, right Lake hoping for that. I've never heard
that if that were the case, right, total hypothetical here.
(20:08):

Speaker 1 (21:43):
No. You know Eddie you talked about you made a
jet who Fled reference earlier in the show, right because
you mentioned Mike the Leprechaun. You know what would the
the Boston or the Leprechaun, the Irish Irish version. That's right,
the Irish version. I remember that. It took me a second,
it took the scene of crowd, but I do remember.
(22:04):
I would like that to be reflective on my my
resume there of remembering things Eddie every now and then.
Speaker 2 (22:11):

We do have our debate h Ran people away. I guess.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
I think it is huge for ratings. We do have,
I believe to Vermont, Yes, Tom and Vermont. You're on
Fox Sports Radio. What's going on?
Speaker 9 (22:54):
Hey, guys, thank you for taking my call. I would
just like to say, I'm one hundred Eddie's corn.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Yeah, Tom, why why did you bother calling in?
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Tom? Why?
Speaker 9 (23:05):
Because the kid hasn't earned anything. He doesn't doesn't deserve
a spot on an NBA roster?
Speaker 1 (23:12):
And are you riding against Let's keep it focused on
on on.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Let's hate on Bronnie as if he's the only guy.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
All right, you're not.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Let's hate on Brownie. Tom, why is the first of all?
Speaker 9 (23:28):
First of all, I like like Eddie. I've never heard
of Giannis's brothers, so he doesn't get the publicity.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
And all right, that's my whole point. It's my whole point.
Speaker 9 (23:40):
The nepotism is is you know, it's just like in
today's government. You know, you hate to go political, but
when you check boxes and put people in positions that
don't deserve it, this is what you get. And I'm
kind of glad that the Lakers drafted him because I'm
a Celtics fan and the Lakers are gonna stink on ice.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
I've always enjoyed that saying stink on ice. I don't
know what it means, but I like it. I like
it too.
Speaker 9 (24:07):
Yeah, Well it means because when you when you pre stuff,
there's there's no order to it, you know.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Okay, you think on it means you think I got
it all right, Tom.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
I question, Tom, is that more of like a Northeast
Do you think that's more of a regional thing?
Speaker 2 (24:24):
You know that makes.
Speaker 9 (24:25):
Sense, probably because you don't have any ice down south.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah, right, like you know, it seems to make more.
Speaker 9 (24:33):
Only in your freezers. But anyway, Eddie is always right,
except for the other day when you did food pitch
and uh, you know, uh what's his name from New
York Marcello? Yeah, Marcella. Yeah, he you know, marcell picks
and chooses who wins, and because Ben's not on, Eddie
got the wins.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
Well it's feels good for me because that Ben always wins.
I want to the other game, but I.
Speaker 9 (25:01):
Do always feel good for Eddie because you know, there's
something going on between Marshall and.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Ben, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Okay, Well, hey, thanks for checking in there, Tom, appreciate
great call. Yeah, he's lost me when he was like,
Eddie's always right, that's what he won me over. I
think that's the funny thing is you guys are like
the Nasais. That's not even a story exactly. That's why
(25:28):
I'm saying with Bronni, everybody is aware of it. Like
Tom and Vermont could be like, I don't even really
follow the NBA. It's like, yeah, but you're aware of Bronni. Like,
let's not act like you're not facing any negativity.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
We're in LA, he went to USC. We've known about
him since high school, right, so it's I mean, that's
how I know of him. Maybe if I lived in Milwaukee,
I know about Manassas or whatever the hell's name is.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
Well, even even a better example is a kostas Um.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
I don't know any of there's another brother, Yeah, yeah,
he was on the links as a lot three of.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Them, and two of them are in the NBA. Yeah yeah,
it's wild.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
All right, we'll get to the militia here in just
a couple of minutes. First though, Eddie Garcia, who Tom
says is always right. He's always right during the updates, right,
usually everyone in.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
A while, you never everyone saw what the other day.
I had one the other day where I said, uh,
Carlos Alcarez lost in the wimbled in like semis and
somebody tweeted like, no, he won.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
I was like, oh what, shoot, he's still alive.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
He's still alive and he went on to win it all.
How about that? What a story?
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Well mostly right during the most Thank You I'll take It.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
I did see this note from the NFL, and it
got me to thinking, did you see, Brian that Brown's kicker,
Dustin Hopkins gets a new three year, fifteen point nine
million dollar extension and he is now one of the
top five highest paid kickers in the NFL. So my
question is, and I looked it up, oh wow, who
(27:16):
are the who are the top paid kickers in the NFL?
Now he is, Dustin Hopkins is tied with the Giants
Graham Gano. They both make five point five million dollars
per year. There are three other kickers who make.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
More, well, I mean, Justin Tucker's got to be one
of them.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Yeah, Justin Tucker is number one. Well, he's actually tied
for number one. It's six million a year. There's another
kicker in the league that also makes six million a year.
Speaker 7 (27:42):
You're gonna throw one out there, And my only reason
is Is Matt Prater up there? No, I seem yeah,
he's kind of old now, but I that's a good question.
Speaker 10 (27:52):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Okay, so let's see who else is great at kicking
the football. I would I'd have thought Dustin Hopkins was
one of the top guys. That's a pretty good that's
a pretty good deal. Like Stone Cold used to say.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Huh, um.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Man, I don't know, Eddie, you know someone else? Harrison
Butker is a really good kicker.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
He is.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
I would say he's up there?
Speaker 3 (28:21):
He is, He's not.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Yeah, he should be up there. I know people ate
the commencement speech and all that. He's a really really
good kicker. Is our guy Cameron the kicker dicker?
Speaker 3 (28:34):
No? No, I thought I thought my guy Chris Boswell
would be up there for the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
But Mason Crosby.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Is he still be league? I don't know. At number three?
Is he's very happy because he is Matt Gay of
the Indianapolis Colts. Okay, he makes five point six million
a season. Huh.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
And someone got mad at me for a joke I
made about Matt Gay, which is just a play on words. Okay,
so Matt Gay missed the kid you said he wasn't
gay or something.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
No, No, I just said gay. Didn't kick it straight.
Someone was like, bright, so right.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
I'm like, bro, it's just the words. Nothing else than that.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Oh man?
Speaker 6 (29:26):
All right?
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Uh and and tied with Justin Tucker at six million
dollars per season, the Great Jake Elliott of the Wow
the Eagles, that is correct, of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 6 (29:42):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Yeah, that's some trivia right there.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Eddie, very well glad. I would have never got those,
nor would I had I not looked it up. That's why.
That's why I looked it up.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
No doubt.
Speaker 9 (29:53):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (29:53):

Tony the Paperboy has called back. Let's hear what Tony
the paper Boy.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Has to say. Tony, you're on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
What's going on?
Speaker 5 (30:51):
What's up?
Speaker 7 (30:51):
Man?
Speaker 5 (30:52):
I'm Mac and I don't know why this is great
to you? Brian, you're pretty intelligent guy.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Wait wait, wait, wait, wait wait.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
It's the only father son duo ever in NBA history
on the same team.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Yes, you're telling me it would be super cool.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Are you telling me that when Bronni after he's in
the G League, when he's with the Lakers and he's
on the court with Lebron James, even though you're right, Eddie,
this is unearned.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
You're telling me.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Tony and Eddie that if Lebron throws an alley oop
to Bronni or vice versa, and its father and son,
and like Bronnie scores his first points and he high
fives Lebron, even though totally unearned, not cool whatsoever. Not
something to root for, not something to feel good about.
Nothing good about.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
This awesome awful.
Speaker 5 (31:54):
Hey, Brian, I got tickets to see Barbie Part two.
If you want to go.
Speaker 9 (32:01):
What.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
Fabricated, illusional, delusional world are you living in? Brother? About this?
You're smart needs to get his own show.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah, So any nepotism, anything, anything that isn't earned, then
old fashioned way, do you automatically root for failure? Do
you automatically say there's nothing good about this opportunity that
wasn't earned initially, that was maximized, nothing good about that whatsoever?
(32:39):
If Steve Belichick goes on to be a great defensive
coordinator at Washington, you, Tony, you'll say, oh, he never
should have gotten that initial opportunity with the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
That's what you're gonna say.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
No, don't do that though.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Okay, I'm just asking.
Speaker 9 (32:54):
That's what it sounds like, because just get that fact
straight the books.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
Then he draft Giannis's brother, the Knicks did, Okay.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
The matter is what the Bucks.
Speaker 5 (33:06):
No, it's not like Giannis came in as as a
whatever he is. It said hey, I come with my brother.
It's there wasn't like that.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Oh I'm sure, the Bucks just scouted him and said,
there's something special about the NASAs.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Has nothing to do with Giannis. We need on the Bucks.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
It's a horrible comparison because nepotism in this situation would
be if lebron got him a job and the sales
the Laker sales department, because he would be unqualified for that.
These are the greatest four hundred players in the world. Man,
this isn't like a joke. This isn't These guys are
(33:46):
like playing for their lives. And this guy said women
with kneepads when he was twelve, like a little prince
even though his dad's not a king.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
You don't say, well, hey, Tony, we appreciate you. In man,
the reasonable minds can disagree. You know, women with knee bands.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
I don't know where he's going.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Is that like coming to America?
Speaker 1 (34:10):
And like, listen, you can hide your head in the
sand and act like, well, you know, a Nasa jitm
The NASAs was a fifty first overall pick.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Who's on the Bucks because of Giannis?
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Right?
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Like that's and.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
He's facing like he's facing five percent of the scrutiny
that Brony is facing because he's a Lebron's kid.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
You know, it's just it's totally different. It's not the
same thing.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
All right, Eddie, there's some championship audio that you are
a huge fan of. We will relive this right around
the corner. He's Eddie Garcia. I'm Brian No.

(35:28):
It's Brian No man Eddie. So we got it kicked
off in grand fashion at the home run derby you
know where ta Oscar Hernandez.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
He won and there was some drama. Bobby Witt Junior
had a chance to tie in the final round and
hit the ball to the wall. There's a little bit
of drama. But to me, the signature event with this
was the National Anthem where you had country artist Ingrid Andres,
(36:03):
who I don't know, she's got a couple of really
popular songs. But I don't even know if I'm pronouncing
her name correctly. But Eddie, it was not seamless. Okay,
it was not exactly how would you say in pitch
on key all that stuff got important in singing.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
There's a taste of how it ended here before the
home run derbyond.
Speaker 8 (36:30):
Of the.
Speaker 5 (36:40):
Of the.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Yeah yeah, it's it reminds me of guitar Hero, you know,
if you kind of screw up me you're hitting the
wrong notes. How it just sounds like that's kind of
like the singing version of messing up, like if you
strolling bro.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Well, she definitely got trending. I would say that from
from that you had mentioned Fergie in the first hour.
Oh yeah, but this reminds me of my favorite all
time National Anthem moment. I don't know if Loraina has
ever heard this before, but Lorena enjoy former Olympic gold
medal winner Carl Lewis singing the national anthem at an
(37:24):
NBA game years ago.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
And lash.
Speaker 10 (37:32):
The Boss.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Jaw through the n.
Speaker 6 (37:38):
That up Black was too.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
I'll make a four now, I know you won't to
say does that stars fang Fan yad Way.
Speaker 10 (38:01):
The line.
Speaker 6 (38:05):
For the lad the free.
Speaker 10 (38:13):
And I love the crowd man, the crowd is fantastic.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Oh man, that's good.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
You know.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
There was there.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
About at the up oh drop, I always play Lorena.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
That's from Carl who Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
There was another yes, yes, yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
I love what he says, so I'm going to make
up for it, and then he doesn't go ahead, Brian.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
There was another singer that tried to give Ingrid the
benefit of the doubt, and she was like, oh the
acoustics and globe life.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Never over there. It's like, no, she she just sucked,
you know.
Speaker 9 (39:04):
I
