Eddie Garcia. It feels like it's been forever that we've
hosted a show together. I'm glad to be back with you.
Everything good in your world? Oh, you're getting ready for
the NFL season here?
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yeah, it'll get here when it gets here. I'm not Uh,
it's common. I don't have to, you know, act like
it's you know, a kid before Christmas time. It'll be
here when it beat when it's here. I my wife
is the one who's like count the days really.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
And you're just like, eh, you know, Yeah, it's kind
of a little bit here.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Yeah, I said, I'm fine. When it happens, it'll be
it'll be great. But I'm not you know, not do
an a big hurry whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Okay, have you been into the Olympics at all here?
Speaker 4 (01:29):
I have been because of the job, but I haven't.
I haven't really watched much of it other than what
I see, you know, here in studio during during my shift,
which is a bunch of replays. Yeah, and I'm sleeping,
you know, kind of I think when it's really getting
going there.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
So yeah, it's not an ideal shift for the live action. Yeah,
like you're you're sleeping schedule is probably like the opposite.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
But I'm okay with it. I'm I'm you know, I've
gotten in my older age. I've kind of I've been
okay with consuming things that I'm kind of interested in in,
you know, highlight form, you know what I mean. Yeah,
i mean football, you know, I'm a big hockey guy.
Those things I'm gonna watch live because I really mean
to those but all the other stuff, I could watch it.
(02:17):
You guys go with the old YouTube, watch them highlights.
I'm all right with that.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, no, this is nothing wrong with that. I don't
find that to be a problem whatsoever. But there's a
new story here that caught my attention today, Eddie Garcia.
This is from ESPN. It's a story from Tim McManus
and Jeremy Fowler, and it's entitled Inside the Disconnect between
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts. And it's like, oh,
(02:45):
what's going on over now? They talk to many, you know,
sources with knowledge how that always goes, and they talked
about a fractured and unhealthy relationship last season, and there
are many theories as to why that started. And at
the root of the divide, according to the story, a
(03:07):
disconnect and offensive visions is what a team source described
as a lack of full respect for Sirianni's ex'es and
O's chops. So we've got a divide, Eddie. This is
not good. We've got to divide between the head coach
and the quarterback. And they both talked about it on
Wednesday at training camp. First off here's the head coach
(03:30):
of the Eagles, Nick Sirianni, on his what would you say,
fractured relationship trying to repair things here. Sirianni, the only
way to get better is to really look through the
things that you felt like you messed up and get
better at him, right, But it starts with the humility
to say I messed this up. Jane and I are
(03:51):
in a really good place. Every relationship that you have
needs work with everybody, and we've always continued to try
to work at that. Okay, So the first part of
it is admitting there's a problem to begin with, right, Eddie.
And it sounds like Sirianni did as much where he's like, yeah,
we were kind of, you know, butting heads over here.
(04:11):
And my question is this, before we go any further,
and hear from Jalen Hurts, why is Nick Sirianni still
the head coach, Eddie? That's my question. They kicked the
tires on the idea of hiring Bill Belichick. Why do
you bring Sirianni back? If you look at the resume here,
if you look at the bullet points, if you will,
The Eagles got off to a flying start last season
(04:33):
ten to one. We're thinking, oh man, look out. They
lost six of seven games. They got punked by Tampa
Bay in the wild card round. They got blown out,
and Sirianni's back in spite of having a fractured relationship
with the quarterback Jalen Herts. What are they doing? Why
don't you go with the goat? Why not go all
(04:54):
in and get Bill Belichick in there instead of running
it back with Sirianni when the team is tail spinning
and he's butting heads with the QB. I know it's
not perfect all across the board and Belichick once personnel
controlling it. There's stuff to work out. I'd rather have
Belichick for a couple of seasons than moving on with
Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Here, okay, but didn't they go to the Super Bowl
the year before with Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Hey, stuff changes fast here in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Eddie, Uh huh okay, I mean, wow, all right, what
have you done for me lately? I guess I'm not
saying this guy is the greatest coach in the world,
but I mean he gets no credit for the team
taking the team to the super Bowl the year before.
We're not five years ago. A year before.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Hey, hey, stuff, it changes.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
Wait wait, what's the last name? Belichick won a Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Oh it's been a fit while. But if you give
Bill Belichick. Okay, let's do this. Let's play a little game.
I want to play a game. You ever see the Saw.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Movies, Eddie, No, I hate those movies.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
I've only seen like the first one, maybe bits and
pieces of other ones. But there's a I'm sure you've
seen the I want to play a game. I'm sure
you saw those commercials. Let's play a game over here.
Let's put Bill Belichick in charge of the Eagles roster
and all that talent over there, and let's put Nick
Sirianni with I don't know the Patriots and they're bear
(06:13):
cupboard without great impact players or great depth. You think
Nick Sirianni's putting up double digit win seasons, You think
Belichick isn't with.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
England?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Well, that's the problem. Any you mentioned that Belichick the
GM Belichick is Belichick the head coach's biggest enemy right there.
I'm not gonna sell.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
You on take over the Eagles not being in charge
of everything as well.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
He's got Howie Roseman over there. Howie Roseman is the man.
He's the guy. We got him in place, you know, Sorry, Belichick.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Maybe Bill doesn't want that situation, but he wants to
go to a team where he'd be in charge of everything.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
He'd be a moron not I mean, he's got maybe
two three years left. Why not let Roseman do what
he does and take a look at them. You're a
know that you're not the be all end all with
personnel evaluation. You know, come on, Bill Belichick. I think
you could sell him on that. I really do.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Well, look, I'm kind of disagreeing with you just to
kind of disagree with you. But I mean, look, if
I still think though that we're a little too reactionary
in sports these days when it comes to quarterbacks, when
it comes to coaches, I understand them wanting to give
this guy another shot. Although when you blow out all
the assistant coaches, yeah, and you just keep him, I mean,
(07:33):
they must really like him. I guess to give him
another shot. But I don't know. I don't know if
Bill Belichick comes in and waves the magic one and
I need to see it. I look, when the Brady
Belichick split happened, I was on team Belichick and then
the Patriots did nothing and Brady won a Super Bowl.
So I was wrong. I was totally wrong on that.
So I need to see Belichick get another shot and
(07:54):
do something with another team before I believe that it
was all about him in New England and not more
about Brady. So we'll see.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Well, listen, I think it was more about Brady the
success the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Had then and Jalen is not Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
No he's not. But Belichick he was huge in that
whole ign as well. Like we're talking, if we're doing
like a percentage chart, it's like a sixty forty thing,
you know what I mean. It's not I mean, I
want to.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Believe, I want to agree with you, but there's a
part of me that's like, I gotta see it. Brady
did it without Belichick. I gotta see Belichick do it
without Brady.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Well, if you look at those first three Super Bowls,
a couple of those games they're grinders.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
You know.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It's not like the Patriots were prolific and putting up
huge points. They won a lot of those games by
the strength of their defense. If you look at the
game against the Rams, it's thirteen to three, you know
what I mean. Like, Belichick's fingerprints are all over that
defensive game plan. So he's got the coaching chops. Nobody
(08:54):
disputes that. And if you gave him a talented roster
like the Eagles, that's the thing. Yeah, I think this
boils down to sometimes safe is an illusion. I think
the Eagles are like, well, it's sort of the safer
thing to do. We're familiar with Sirianni. Yeah, he's got
some stuff to work out with Hertz, but we've been
successful before, Like you just said, we've gone to a
(09:16):
super Bowl. You know, let's run it back with siriana.
That probably feels safer than doing something drastic like bringing
in Belichick. I still think that would have been the
better move. I mean, look at you might not like
this comparison, but look at the Jets. Look at the
Jets bringing in Aaron Rodgers. I mean, do you have
to make some concessions for him? Yeah? Do you have
(09:37):
to change a lot of what you do to.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
A that's really the example you want to use. No, really,
but because it doesn't really work out well, I.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Mean he got hurt after four plays.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
I understand, but I like, I.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Like Aaron Rodgers with that defense man. If he's healthy,
I think he can do some things. But you understand
what I'm saying, right like, you have to change your culture.
You have to change a bunch of stuff to a
com I'm a date Aaron Rodgers. That's a mammoth change.
But his credentials, he brings a lot to the table.
And I think they're better off for doing that and
(10:11):
taking a big swing. I think the Eagles would be
better off taking a big swing instead of running it
back with Sirianni. It's like Kyle Shanahan said, Kyle Shanahan
of the forty nine ers tried to hire Belichick for
any role within the forty nine ers, right like, you
want to be the decordinator, you want to do it.
The door's open. And when he was explaining that, he said,
(10:32):
I can't believe that Belichick is not a head coach
of a team right now. I know what I would
do if I was an owner. And Shanahan's right, I
don't know why these teams, the Eagles, the Cowboys, and
so who's run it back with Mike McCarthy. Why get
them the hell out of there? Get Belichick in there?
What are you doing? But these teams are just like, oh,
it's too big of a risk. Lame. Lame is what
(10:54):
I say, Eddie Garcia. I think you take big swings
and get big results.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
I'm fine with that. I mean, I'm not going to
disagree with you. I'm just saying, you know, I'm not
going to assume that Bill Belichick is just going to
come in there and everything's going to be great, and
it could be probably probably be better than Nick Siriann.
I agree with that, but I still want to see it.
I'm not quite the Belichick believer I used to be
who I think.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
I don't know if you think this, but most people
think he'll be back as a head coach next season.
What would you say? What's your best guest? And I
know this is a very difficult question, but what's your
best guest? Just throw a dart at the dartboard. Which
team Belichick will be coaching in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
I think Bill is a type of guy that would
like to actually get back at the Patriots. So let's
say Buffalo Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Okay, I don't hate it. I don't hate that prediction
because he's also he's kind.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Of an Eastern East guy. Right, he's he wants to
come somewhere on the east, like when they were there
some rumors about him coming to the Chargers all like
that just doesn't seem right. I can't see him on
the West coast. Guy, He's gonna stay somewhere in the
east where it's cold and he could wear his hoodie.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Right, it's just miserable. It's raining sideways. You know, he's
got the scowl.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I hear you.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
And that's the thing. Sean McDermott. You could say the
same thing about the Bills and McDermott. Why don't you
swing for the fences and do something big, like try
to get Belichick in there. Right, we're going to run
it back with McDermott and we have a hard time
getting past the divisional round, you know, so you might
be right. Another step back from the Bills, they might
be looking for a head coach. I don't hate that
(12:36):
prediction at all, Eddie. How about how about your Steelers
Mike Tomlin goes sub five hundred, get Belichick in.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Yeah, there, they'll give Tomlin at least hit one losing
season before they make a change.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
That'd be crazy. But if they got rid of him.
Speaker 2 (12:51):

dot Com studios. Tire rack dot Com will help get
you there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road
hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack
dot com the way tire buying should be. I'll get
(13:51):
to the Battle for QB one in just a minute. Here, Eddie,
I'm fascinated by this ten k race in the number
two water didn't realize this where they drink during the race, Eddie,
like they're swimming. I didn't think they'd be drinking during this.
They just showed it.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
I saw that as well, and I exactly the same
as you. I didn't realize that they would somehow get
a bottle of liquid and drink it while they were swimming.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Yeah, but man, in the poopy water, that's a that's
a bold move right there where they showed one of
the girls. So she grabs just like the water bottle
or whatever it might have been gatorade or whatever in there,
and she just kind of does the backstroke and drinks
from this and then just throws what she doesn't drink
back in the river and they pick it up and
(14:40):
on with the race. I never realized they drank during
a ten k swim. Had no idea.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
I mean, I guess it makes sense, you know, but
I never, uh, I never thought about that either. But
I'm with you on that one.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
I don't know if this is a thing. This could
be me just being dumb, but show these like the
swimmers from overhead, and I swear it looks like the
leader is zigzagging a little bit, And I'm like, is
this like a NASCAR thing? Are they trying drafting? Yeah? Like,
(15:14):
are they trying to you know, mess up the draft
for the swimmers right behind them or right Like I'm
thinking it's probably easier to be right behind someone else
while you're swimming, don't you think probably?
Speaker 4 (15:27):
I would think so. I don't know, but yeah, I
would think so.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
I would think so too. It looks every now and
then like the leader is zig zagging. So they don't get.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
I swear they just they just swam by a sign
that said no swimming.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
I hope that's actually what it says. I really, I
mean it was. It was.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
It was a visual thing. It wasn't like a it
wasn't words, but it had a red X through like waves.
What else could that be? Don't yeah?
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (15:56):
Surfing?
Speaker 3 (15:57):
No surfing in the same could be sure? Yeah yeah.
Speaker 7 (16:01):
I was kind of thinking about just the bottom of
the boat's fellas, okay, because all those boats have been
sitting in the water for a long time, and you know, like.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
A toilet bowl.
Speaker 7 (16:10):
Let's think about it like that, and how it builds
up on the walls, Like do they go and clean
the bottom of every boat for like sanitation purposes or
are they really swimming in a toilet right now.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
I think they're swimming in a toilet right now. I
think that's exactly what's happening. We go from the toilet, No,
don't do that to what we hope for your sake, Eddie,
is not the toilet with the Pittsburgh Steelers here, huh
the quest for QB one?
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Right, So you've got Russell Wilson. He's not going to
play in the first preseason game they play on Friday
against the Texans, so Justin Fields he's going to get
the start. He's gonna run with the ones for a
couple of series. Russ says, Hey, I'm ready to play,
put me in, coach, but it's Tomlin's decision. We're not
gonna see Russ out there. But he's still QB one.
(17:02):
What's your rate on this, Eddie? With who's going to
be QB one come week one for the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Well, I don't think there's any question if he's physically
ready to go, which I expect he will be, that
it's going to be Russell Wilson. I mean, Justin Fields
would have to completely blow everybody away with his performance
in some preseason action to maybe get Tomlin to think
about it. I don't think that's gonna happen. I would
be shocked if it's not Russell Wilson again, if he
(17:28):
can physically go obviously, which I think he will be.
I don't you know. It's kind of like Justin Herbert,
you know, he's got the foot thing. They'll be ready
to go week one, once the bullets start really flying,
they'll they'll be ready to go. And they're just taking
every precaution, which they should because it's preseason. Who cares. Yeah,
and they're veterans. You know, if it was a rookie, right,
if it was you know, somebody else, Caleb Williams, maybe
(17:54):
I feel differently about it, you know, get him out there,
get him the reps. But for the veteran guys, they've
got some little this and that, there's no need to
rushing back out there.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
No.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
I see it the same way. The interesting thing with
Tomlin is to make certain comments about, you know, who's
out there and how much it means in the preseason.
Here's one thing that Tomlin said about the quarterback competition
between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
I think everything is an audition. Everything that we do
is an audition, not only for him, but for others.
Very much is a competition. What happens in stadium is
weighted heavier than what happens in a practice setting because
it's more game like.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Okay, so that makes sense, right, Edie, Fine, if you
want to weigh that a little bit heavier, Okay, I
get it. But Russ isn't going to be out there yet.
He's still QB one as of right now. So it's
sort of strange right where you're like, Okay, it matters
more that you're playing in preseason games, but Russ isn't
out there and he's still atop the depth chart. That's
kind of odd how that works out right now.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
I don't know. I don't really see it like that.
He's the veteran. You know, they went out and I
don't know, I think they their playing all along was
for him to be the number one quarterback, and then
they went, well, we can get this other guy too
for nothing, and why not just in case? Maybe he's
the future, but but the now is the veteran. It's
Russell Wilson. So I might get what he's saying. I mean,
(19:20):
every coach is going to say that kind of thing.
They want there to be competition. They want the guys
who are the two's to go out there and show
what they could do and feel like if the you know,
they've got a shot to compete for the starting job,
but keep them motivated. But yeah, I still think it's
definitely going to be Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah. I think that a lot of times as a coach,
the truth works against you and you just sort of
say stuff. You know, we just we're talking about Harball
last hour saying that you know that with Tomlin it's
a better example where if he said exactly what you
said right now, it wouldn't be a great message as
(19:58):
a head coach, right, And I think that you're on point.
He's like, Hey, Russell Wilson, he's the guy who actually
put up pretty good numbers last season. He's the guy
who we think is going to be our quarterback based
on not only what we think he can do, but
what he has done. He's been worlds better than Justin
Field's in in his NFL career. If he just went
(20:20):
out and said that and said hey, so despite him
not playing in the preseason and having the calf injury, yeah,
we still he's going to be QB one. He wants
to paint this picture at competition. What you do on
the field in preseason, that's going to matter more. That's
what he wants to paint. But it's really what you're
talking about. We're just not going to get that message
because he doesn't want to say that publicly. So you
(20:42):
had to read between the lines and you know, kind
of put to the side the coach speak because you're
not going to get the truth if you just go
by that. It doesn't add up. It doesn't add up
to be like, well, it's all about what you do
on the field, and Russ isn't on the field yet
he's still a top the depth chart. This is something
else that Tomlin had to say.
Speaker 6 (21:02):
You Russell is having that pole position and being ahead
of Justin and that you guys.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Saw the depth chart that I released yesterday.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
That is real. So yeah, Russell Wilson still listed as
QB one right now, even though he's basically on the
shelf and not playing in the preseason. How about this too,
Patrick Mahomes playing in the preseason, Eddie, he's gonna be
out there. Think about that. Back to back Super Bowl
champion quarterback Mahomes. He's got three rings already, playing in
(21:31):
the preseason, and you just said it a couple of
minutes ago. The Bears couldn't get Caleb Williams out there
for a series or two. That's crazy to be what
some of these teams are doing with young quarterbacks. Get
him out there, give him a little bit of feel
for what it's like.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
You know, it's give him a I would give them
at least a half. At least a half. Why not
because you're scared that something's gonna happen to him. They
need reps, they need game. Get him out there.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
I know.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
I know. It's like Caleb Williams is a rookie and
he's not out there for the Hall of Fame game.
And yet Mahomes, who I don't know that anybody has
been more decorated through you know, this early in their
NFL career than Mahomes. You know, if you did the
(22:23):
tale to the tape like Brady versus Mahomes, to this
stage like age twenty seven or whatever it is for Mahomes, right,
I don't know if anybody's more decorated than him. He's
still going out there in the preseason and the Bears
can't put Caleb Williams out there. That's crazy to me.
This is a little bit what Mahomes talked about playing
in the preseason.
Speaker 8 (22:43):
I'm extremely excited. I mean, obviously for me to go
out there and play with these guys in showcase well
where we have the ability to do, but to learn
from our mistakes too. I mean, you're gonna go out
there and play for real and play against someone else.
I'm tired of going to get spags and every defense
known to man.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Yeah, I'm sure he is tired of that. He's twenty
eight eight. By the way, Eddie turns twenty nine in September,
so he's this is his age twenty eight season. I
don't know how they do that, actually, right, if you
turn a different age during the season, I guess it's
what age you start out as in week one. That
makes sense. If he turns twenty nine in September, Right,
(23:21):
is this is age twenty eight season because that's what
he is in week one? I don't really know the
answer to that, but anyway, he's twenty eight right now.
My home's going to be out there. I think other
teams would be wise to get some of their players
out there. I'm a little surprised he might push back
on this Eddie because I know he's a veteran Aaron Rodgers,
and I know he's coming off of injury. But he
wants to go out there. He wants to get a
(23:43):
few series in the preseason. Robert Sower, I would too,
I absolutely would. He's got brand new teammates. Why not.
I don't know why we're acting like preseason games are
death defying stunts.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
I agree, always a risk in everything. You can get
hurt in practice. I mean, it's it's conceivable we're gonna
hold him out of practice. I mean, I just don't
I'm not a big fan of I get you want
to protect an investment, and you're yes, I know you're
paying these guys a ton of money. I get it all.
I get all that, but just the whole attitude. It's
not just football, it's even baseball too, with pitchers, this
(24:19):
whole attitude. And we got to put these guys in
bubble wrap and pitch counts, and I mean, we have
to protect them at all costs. You know, the what
is it in basketball? The load management? It's like, come on, yeah,
these guys are finally two professional athletes. Yes, things are
gonna happen. You can't avoid it. Get him out there, man,
that's what they do. Yeah, yeah, it's if it's if
(24:41):
it's a you know, like Patrick Mahomes. I I like
that he's that he wants to play, and I like
that Andy Reid listens to him, like, if he wants
to do it, and he thinks that's that's what's the
best for preparing him for the season. He's gonna let
him do it. I like that. But you know, he
doesn't have to get out there and play it like
somebody like that. I understand it. But young players, guys
come back from injuries when they missed the whole season.
(25:03):
Get him out there.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Yeah, that's the funny thing to me. Any argument as
to why it isn't smart to get him out there,
you could just say, then why are the Chiefs doing it?
You know what I mean? Like for anyone who's like, well,
I made the injury, concerned and are a couple of
drives going to be the difference between them doing well
(25:25):
this season or not? And it's like, well, then why
are the Chiefs doing it? Why are the Chiefs sending
Mahomes out there? This has got to be some value
to it. This is one other thing that Mahomes said
about playing in the preseason.
Speaker 8 (25:38):
I like playing the preseason, honestly, getting in there and
trying to make sure that we're doing stuff the right way,
and then getting out trying to keep everybody healthy, and
then playing the sport that I love. So I'm excited
for the opportunity.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Yeah, man, I get it, I get it. Kind of
a strange move. Jayden Daniels is going to be out
there for the Washington Commanders. He's a rookie number two overall.
I think that makes sense. I just I don't know
why the Bears were like, no, let's not play Caleb
Williams he hasn't played it down in the NFL yet.
Brand new teammates I work on some seasoning. They're kind
(26:12):
of strange, kind of strange.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Eddie, you think this is smart, a smart approach, We'll
take it to the world of the NFL. Here. Lamar Jackson,
he's slimmed down quite a bit. Raven's quarterback Rainy.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
And he was pretty fat as I recall.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Yeah, he said that. Uh oh, actually, no funny say
that because he said he lost weight after feeling fat
and slower. Huh is why he's lost this weight. Okay,
did you see a slow fat Lamar win MVP last season, Eddie?
Speaker 4 (26:52):
I did not.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
I didn't either. I don't understand this. The last criticism
you will hear about Lamar is that man, he's just
he's slow, right, I don't understand this approach. And look,
I don't think that having he had a little bit
more bulk last season. I thought that helped him. The
biggest knock on Lamar is injury wise. He's banged up
(27:18):
sometimes at the worst time. And then it's the playoff yips.
If he will, he hasn't gotten it done in the playoffs.
He hasn't had great success in the postseason. Those are
the knocks. It's the injury bug and it's the playoffs.
The knock is not being fat or slower. I don't
know what he's talking about right there, and I'm not
gonna say because he slimmed down, it's injury bug city
(27:42):
this season. But I don't know, Eddie. I think having
a little bit extra mass, I think it helped Lamar.
I don't think that it was. He lasted the entire season,
you know. I think having a little bit bulk of
bulk helped him. I don't think it hurt him. So
I don't know why you would down after a season
of being upright the whole year.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
But hey, I guess there's no harm in being as
fit as possible. But I think he needs to work
on his passing accuracy more than his dying or anything personally.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
But okay, yeah, yeah, that's okay, all right, interesting right there?
This is another one, Eddie where caught my attention. We'll
stick with the QBS Josh Allen Bill's quarterback. Every now
and then you'll see a headline and maybe they're just
looking for clicks. Maybe that's all this is. But the
headline was Josh Allen's Diggs quote. Right, He's talking about
(28:39):
Stefan Diggs and it says, Wow, he gave a really
interesting response when asked about does he miss Stefan Diggs
at all? You tell me, Eddie, is this an interesting response?
Is this like an eyebrow raising response from Josh Allen?
Check this out?
Speaker 9 (28:56):
At any point, d he can miss Stefan? I mean,
I think Steph's a great player and what he brought.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
To this team was was special. So miss is is?
Speaker 9 (29:11):
I don't know if i'd say miss You know, he
was a guy that was reliable. You can you can
look too. He's gonna have the juice each and every day.
I'm sure he's bringing over there in Houston. So definitely, yeah,
you can't say that you don't miss that. But I
am very happy with what we got going on here
and how hard the guys have been working, and yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Is there anything interesting about Is there anything like? Whoa?
Speaker 4 (29:33):
No, not to me?
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Nothing, right?
Speaker 4 (29:37):
I mean if he says yes, then he sounds like
he is not confident in his current receivers. That's how
they're going to spin it, right, you know, Josh Allen
not confident in his in his receivers without digs here
or something like that. So no, I had no issue
with that.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
I didn't either. I didn't think anything was eyebrow raising.
I think he danced around it pretty well, because that's
a tricky one. You don't want to be like, oh no,
I don't miss the fun at all. Stefan, who what's it? Diggs?
I don't even remember, you know, what I mean like that,
But yeah, you don't want to shade your current receiver.
I thought he did a good job with that. I
(30:13):
don't I don't think that was interesting at all.
Speaker 2 (30:14):

Speaker 3 (30:26):
You know, Eddie, you were talking about that crazy like
come from behind win from Quincy Hall. This is how
it sounded on NBC Lee Diffy redeeming himself. Remember he
screwed up the one hundred meter call, he messed that up,
but he got the four hundred meters call right on
the money. Check this out, Quincy. Goodness, that was a
(31:11):
pretty good call, right. Did you see the highlights of that,
Eddie where it looked like, yeah, it was like we
called it in high school booty lock or you hear
a lot like the piano is on your back, that's
what you look like. You look like. He was in
full booty lock slash piano on the back mode and
somehow like game ground on all the leaders and one.
(31:34):
It was amazing what he did right there. Shout out
to Quincy Hall. That was crazy.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Yeah, that was pretty cool. I have to say, in
all honesty, a lot of the play by play calls
i've heard, yeah, have been pretty crappy. Really Yeah, I'm
not been a fan of a lot of the broadcasters
over there at the Olympics that I've heard.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Yeah, well, this was the biggest one with the one
hundred meters with Lee Diffy messed this up, which was
dead wrong.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
You know, how could he make that call when it
looked like four guys all hit the line at the
same time. I mean, you just got to say photo finish.
I mean, yeah, who knows with that? But like there
was that. I still don't really know what happened, but
the the US one bronze and rugby and they scored
like on the final play of the game as time
(32:29):
inspired and the call was garbage. It was what is
going on with Like I remember back in the day
yet Al Michaels doing calls and Howard Cosell was doing boxing,
and you had like all these A listers. I don't
even know who any of these people are nowadays doing
these these calls. Yeah, I guess the swimming guys. Dan
Hicks I know him. Yeah, a lot of these broadcasts.
(32:52):
I don't know who they are, and they're not that good.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
It's a great point with the rugby call. I wish
I had that because it was it was an electric moment,
you know for US rugby. You even mentioned it where
there was like a four million dollar donation after that.
It was so inspiring, like and the call was just
like she breaks free and she's gonna score. Wow, it's
(33:22):
a great call. It was a terrible call. And I
don't know, man, I don't know how you screw up
the one hundred meter dash where like you said, it
was so close. It was five like one thousandths of
a second. That's what was the difference. How do you say,
look to me like Jamaica got this thing and it's wrong.
(33:45):
That's bad, man, that's a mistake right there, for sure.
