This is the best of the Ben Maler Show on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Man, you talk about an unexpected sweat that is on
the way. We're broadcasting live from the tierraq dot com
studios tire rack dot com. We'll help get you there
and on matt selection, fast free shipping, free roadhazard protection
and over ten thousand recommended installers tierrack dot com the
way tire buying should be. Man, Eddie, Team USA they

(00:55):
survive in Olympic men's basketball against Serbia. Was not easy,
my friend. They trailed by as many as seventeen points.
They were trailing by thirteen points heading into the fourth quarter.
They rallied, They rallied to pull it out. That was
a tremendous basketball game, Eddie. And I know some US
fans would be like, we didn't win by twenty five.

(01:17):
What the hell I look at Serbia. They shot the
lights out the first three quarters from three and so
US had to dig deep.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I know it might sound cheesy, but that was some
tremendous basketball on display on what my days are running
together on Thursday, right. That was a great game man,
and the US moves onto the gold medal game.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Not surprised it was competitive, but certainly surprised the way
the game went. I certainly didn't see the US being
down double digits late like that and have to really
pull one out in the fourth quarter. But you know,
got the job done. That's all that matters. And like
I said, I'm not shocked it was close, but didn't
see it quite going that way. But when it's all

(01:58):
said and done, they get the job done. Steph Curry
was amazing and now it's onto the gold against France
and Victor Wimbayama.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, that was the Steph Curry game. Thirty six points,
made nine three pointersz Eddi and Kevin Durant said it
after the game. He was like, Steph Curry has been
searching for his game during the Olympics. He hasn't been
very good in a lot of these games, and he
was unbelievable against Serbia with those thirty six points. This

(02:27):
that blows my mind. Serbia led for thirty five minutes
and twelve seconds. SETI. The US only led for three
minutes and twenty five seconds, but obviously led when it
mattered most. At the very end of the game. I
thought this was the biggest sequence of the game. This
is just under three minutes to go. Serbia had the
ball and they were up by two. And this is

(02:50):
how it sounded on NBC. Thret to shoot Yo kicks.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
She's gonna have to fade over the rand short rebound.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Ohmb couldn't collect it, pov Kanovich, O Rich, Oh damn knuckleball.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
You lot different pressure on those shots now, James, I'm
goin to pick a roll. Oh Curry to the lead.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
That was it, man. You always hear this in the
NBA Eddie, where it's a make or miss league. It
worked the same way in FEBA basketball, where Serbia had
a chance to go up by five points if they
made a three, wide open shot, guy misses it. Steph
Curry gets him back on the other end with the three.
It's a six point swing. Serbia could have been up

(03:35):
by five, instead they were down by one and we're
talking just over two minutes to go. That's what swung it.
And the three point shooting was the difference Serbia, Eddie.
They were on fire in the first three quarters fifteen
for thirty and then in the fourth quarter, oh for
nine from distance, Serbia cooled off and that's the difference

(03:55):
in the game.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Man.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
It was crazy, really fun though.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yeah, it's I'm obviously the lux the United States is
you can have multiple superstars step up at any point.
We saw Kevin Durant earlier, right, come up big. Now
it was Steph Curry's time. Who knows who it could
be in the gold medal game. You know, if you're
like if you're Serbia, and yeah, you know those guys
have played together, but you know you've got nicolea okicch
and it's about it. You know, France has a couple

(04:20):
of NBA guys, but there's just nothing that they can,
you know, do to compare the firepower. So you know,
it just that's that's where the US obviously has its
advantage and that's what they did to win the game.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
You know, it's crazy too, Eddie. Where the final call
from Noah Eagle. I love how he put everything into
perspective or he did a great job, just kind of
like I don't know giving the rundown of what just happened.
But listen to Dwayne Wade and Noah at the very
end of this call, this is great on NBC again,
Well dono it clutch?

Speaker 6 (04:53):
It up short in the United States trailing by as
many as seventeen to the.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
Gold medal game. Pardon, was you worried?

Speaker 4 (05:09):
No?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I was worried big time, Eddie, because uh, you know me,
every now and then there's a better two.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Were you worried because of some personal financial interests? Yeah,
there was.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
There was a There was a decent, heavy, decent amount
of heavy interest on that game when they were down
big like that, and I'm like, okay, they're not if
they lose this game out right, I'll just take it
on the chin, you know what I mean. Like you're
gonna miss some bets from time to time. But I
can walk away from Team USA with the talent they
have if they lost to Serbia and say, hey, man,

(05:46):
upsets happened. But yeah, I was invested in that one,
and I didn't know, Eddie. I honestly didn't if they're
gonna be able to pull that one out because Serbia
was tough man those first three quarters. They hit so
many threes and it was just a hard fought game.
But this is the other thing I started thinking about, Eddie,
where it gets beyond just the Olympics. I started thinking about,

(06:10):
you know, as we get older, sometimes you just outgrow stuff.
You know, where your kid in a sports fan like,
sometimes one team means a lot to you, or one
sport means a lot to you, maybe you just start
to outgrow it a little bit. But I'm like, I've
really never outgrown the Olympics and when a game is

(06:31):
close like that, especially in basketball sport, I really love.
I've never outgrown that. I was curious, if you start
thinking about your teams and the sports you love, if
you look at your list and things that you have
never outgrown or your love is strengthened over the years,
what would you say is on your list?

Speaker 4 (06:52):
I just think, you know, the football during the season,
I mean I kind of we talked about it yesterday
for Pea, but listen, then, you know I said, when
the season gets it'll get here. And the reason I
say that is is it's changed over the years. How
hardcore I am into it like twenty four to seven.

(07:12):
Now I wait until the season starts before I completely
am just immersed in it. Whereas back when I was younger,
it was just every day, you know, it was something
even even during the off season, there were you know,
it was always something to get into. Now I'm kind
of like, yeah, I'm going to enjoy my weekends and
you know, maybe watch some movies or TV or whatever,
and then but once the weekends start during football, it's

(07:35):
just all football all weekend long. I mean it's literally
watching three games in college football and then you know,
depending on if I'm at a game or or you know,
watching multiple games, three games most likely on the NFL.
It's like that's my whole weekend. I'm invested in nothing
but football. So that's that's not changed throughout my life.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Yeah, that's true man for me either. Right if we're
talking football season, I am all in, especially the NFL.
I love college football, but not like the NFL. It's
just look, man, some of these players have been in
the NFL for so long and you've seen their college careers,
and so there's just I don't know, you ever watch
a non sports series, right whatever it happens to be

(08:18):
Breaking Bad or if you're a Game of Thrones fan
or what like Game of Thrones was eight seasons long.
There's a whole history of the beginning of when they
were kids and now they're in this stage of their
lives and all that type of stuff. It works the
same way with the NFL, where you see these players
that have maybe been in the league for ten plus

(08:39):
years and you've seen their college careers and you know
all the history and drama that's led to this moment.
Yeah man, it just gets bigger and bigger and better
every season. And yeah man, you know me, I'm a
football junkie, so I think that's the number one thing.
We've talked about it before. I love the Miami Dolphins.
That's always been my childhood. I love the NFL more

(09:01):
than my favorite team, and a lot of people might
look at that differently, and that's fine, but that's how
big of an NFL fan I am. So yeah, man's
it seems like it takes forever for the season to
get here and now it's like, oh shoot, it's like
about twenty seven days or something like that. Before the
first game of the season between the Ravens and Chiefs.

(09:24):
It's here, man and man, I couldn't be more excited
for it should be a great season.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Yeah, you know, and I enjoy going to a lot
of games obviously, you know, through my wife Chargers season tickets,
and you know, I certainly try and support my all
my mater Fresno State by going to some games as well.
So I still I mean, look, TV is watching games
on you know, high death and big screens and all
that stuff. It's better than ever. But I still love

(09:51):
going out and checking out the games of person too.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
I do too, Eddie.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
I've got to tailgating too. It's a whole event.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
What's your best tailgating NFL experience over there?

Speaker 4 (10:01):
I mean, they do it up well. They're believe it
or odds. And I know some people are down on
the Chargers fan base, but they have a great you
know tailgating group. You know, they have a certain parking
lot that's like quarantined off just for that and they
call it thunder Alley, and it's just like pop ups,

(10:22):
you know, lined up together and you just go down
and everybody's in a good mood. And certainly having a
few adult beverages and willing to share whatever you got there.
So usually it's like the carnea, sada and brats and
all that kind of stuff and can't go wrong with
any of that.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
I've got two more stadiums to check off the list, Eddie,
and then I've been to all of them. I need
to go to Houston and Jacksonville. That's it. I've been
everywhere else. Rustive there's a little asterisk, right, there's there's
four actually, because I haven't made it to LA for
a Chargers game. Like I saw him in San Diego.

(10:57):
I saw him in the what was that weird like
Roku Stadium or what was it for?

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Well, I had a few names. It was a stub
Hub for a little while. Yeah, and then it was
like Dignity Sports Park. It might have even been another
name there.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
Yeah, it's a few minutes.

Speaker 7 (11:13):
Then it was Bank of America Stadium, and then I
don't remember that and now it is BEMO they changed,
Oh my gosh, and I will be going there this
weekend tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
What's what's going on there?

Speaker 5 (11:26):
A food fighters concert?

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Oh? Oh wow?

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Okay, yeah, not bad, you know. Dave Grohl is a
big fan of Slayer. That's a true story. Loves him
some metal, so.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Well, thank you for including that tidbit.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Yeah, yeah, I got sha.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
I'm sure he likes a lot of different things. He
seems like that kind of guy.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Yeah, he does seem pretty eclectic. Yeah, a lot of
respect for him as a musician, great musician. That's the weird,
like soccer, thirty thousand seat stadium, right, Yeah, that's talking.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
About home, A traditional home, I guess you would say
of the LA Galaxy. Yeah, they have a lot of things.
They have high school football state championships there. It gets
a lot of use.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Yeah. It's funny because I went to a game there.
The Chargers were playing the Bengals, and it said whatever
side I bought the tickets on. Might have been stub Hub,
I'm not sure, but it was behind the Bengals bench
and it said on the site it was like, your
view may be obstructed. And I'm like, what by what?

(12:22):
I'm like, they don't know what they're talking about. No,
there's nothing in front of you. We got to the game,
there was the Bengal sideline in front of us. We
couldn't see anything. You could see the field at all, Man,
you could see from like the twenty yard line to
the end zone. You could see like the red zone.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
That was it.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
If they're in the middle of the field, you could
see nobody. Literally, you couldn't even see them.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Yeah, that's kind of like when we were in San
Diego at the old Jack Murphy Stadium there, which was
the multipurpose stadium. Yeah. But so because of that, they
made the front row so low that it was that
it was that if you were down the first couple
of rows, you were walk by the by the players.
So everyone had to stand up. So we stood the

(13:04):
whole game. If you sat in the lower bowl, we
had really good seats, you had to stand the whole game.
I mean you could sit down, you know during commercials
or you know, halftime, but you had to stand if
you wanted to see. It was a domino effectcause those
people down there, they wanted to see, so they stood up,
and then everyone else had to stand up. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
It's kind of like the ten k last night, right,
the swimming and the Send River or whatever, right when
you're you got to be in the front. It's the opposite.
You got to be in the front road to see them.
Because if you're up top. You can't see see if
they're so close to the cement barriers, right, And I
have to make it to Allegiant. I made it to
the Coliseum right when the Raiders were over there, but

(13:47):
I haven't been to the new stadium in Vegas. I
would like to go there as well. So I guess
it's four stadiums I need to check off. Although I
have seen the Chargers and the Raiders before, I still
have to back them off in their new stadiums and
then it will be complete, Eddie, It'll be complete.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Well, who's on the list this year? Do you have
a list? Do you have two to check off or
one to check off? This coming season?

Speaker 3 (14:09):
I would I'd like to get to Jacksonville and Houston.
Especially Houston. There's so much better, right. Houston was brutal
for a couple of years, and now with c J.
Stroud and they they've got a real team. I would
like to go there this season. I don't know if
I can make it to Vegas, but if I could
check the Raiders off the list, that'd be a good

(14:30):
one too.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
But have you been to Allegiant, Eddie?

Speaker 4 (14:33):
I was there for the last Pro Bowl, the last
actual Pro Bowl before they said this is awful, we
need to change it. And then they went to the
flag football game, which.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Is is that the one where Mack Jones pancing?

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Yes, that is the one. And I've said this story
a few times, but I hadn't watched a Pro Bowl
in years because why I don't, you know, I think
it's worthless. But I didn't realize it had gotten that
bad back when I still watched it. They still tackled.
I mean, yeah, he was like, what is this really

(15:07):
not noting? This is terrible? They got it pay for
the tickets.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
It really was horrible. You remember, I know you do, Eddie.
Remember when the late great Sean Yes decleted a Bills punter.
I think it was Brian Mormon rush and at like
old school it was like Kevin Gogan and maybe Neil
Smith got into a brawl. They got kicked out of

(15:33):
the game. They tried to fight each other in the
tunnel like it was a real football game for a
long time. And I'm not, you know, moaning and groaning
that it's gone away. It's just it evolved into what
you're talking about. It literally was too ann touch. They
didn't want to tackle each other.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Yeah, I spent the second half just walking around the stadium.
I didn't even watch the game. I just want I
just wanted to check out the stadium.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
So that's what I did, man, I don't blame you.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
Be sure.

Speaker 2 (16:00):

(16:58):
buying should be so Eddie, the Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones,
he said there's no urgency to get a CD Lamb
deal done. And Cedee Lamb, who is a top wide
receiver in the league, stars for the Dallas Cowboys. He

(17:19):
just simply responded on Twitter. Lol what he responded with
Lamb didn't report to camp. He's looking to be one
of the highest paid wide receivers in the league. He's
not in camp, Eddie and Jerry Jones, Yeah, he's like, no,
no urgency, Eddie. I just I don't get it.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Man.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
It's one of these deals where unless the Cowboys when
it's all said and done, because they're going to resign him,
unless they get this huge mammoth discount, which they're not
going to. That's the only reason I would look and
be like it actually worked out. They agreed to a
very team friendly deal. That's not gonna be the case.

(18:04):
Ceedee Lamb is gonna make a boatload of money, which
he should because he's fantastic. I don't understand why some
franchises insist on drawing this out and working against themselves.
He's gonna make Ceedee's Lamb is gonna make in the neighborhood.
It's gonna make more than Amen Ross Saint Brown, the
Lions wide receiver. But the Lions didn't drag this out

(18:26):
throughout the offseason, and they're like, am and ROV's really good,
Let's pay him thirty million dollars a year. Done over
and done with. It was like an oh. By the way,
the Dolphins restructured Tyreek Hill's contract and he's making about
thirty million dollars a year. It wasn't dragging out. It's
not like Tyreek Hill is away from the Dolphins training camp.

(18:49):
I don't know why some teams, like the Cowboys the
Bengals are getting in their own way with Jamar Chase.
I don't know why they make it more difficult for
themselves instead of just paying a top player top money.
That's the going right, that's what it's gonna take. I
don't know why you just are like, I don't want
to write the check just yet, Let's wait until well

(19:10):
into training camp. It's just dumb. I think it's bad business.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Well, for some franchises like the Bengals, they're known for
being tight wides, so they're kind of on brand. But
for the Cowboys. Jerry always caves in anyway and gives
them what they want. So for them, I'm not really
sure why this is taking so long, because we know
he's going to pay him, so get him into camp

(19:36):
as soon as possible. I don't know if he if
he wants to put up the appearance of playing hardball
or or what it is. And you know this isn't
his first rodeo. I get that for Jerry, but he does,
in the end, always cave in, does he not. I mean,
he did it with Michaeh Parsons. He's gonna do it
with Dak. He did it with the offensive lineman whose

(19:56):
names escaped me last year. Held Out Martin was.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
A Zach Zach Martin, the Yssies guy.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
So just you know, I'm not sure what what the
hold it is.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Yeah, man, you look at Cede Lamb's numbers last year.
Eddie led the league with one hundred and thirty five
catches for seventeen hundred and forty nine yards and twelve touchdowns.
Those numbers are insane. We have been talking about Ceedee
Lamb a whole lot more, but our focus was on
Tyreek Hill for a lot of the season. All the

(20:26):
receiving yards he was putting up. We're thinking, is he
gonna get to two thousand. There was a lot of
conversation about that before he got banged up toward the
end of the year. But Tyreek had the most receiving yards.
Short of that, we were been talking about Tyreek Hill
of Cede Lamb. We would have been talking about CD
a lot more. But to have you know, one yard

(20:47):
shy of seventeen fifty that in the yardage department, that
is a ton of production. I get this, Like. The
only thing I can say is they're looking to these
three guys are up for huge paydays. It's Ceedee Lamb,
It's Micah Parsons, it's Dak Prescott. So that's the one

(21:09):
thing why you're trying to hammer out all of the
deals at once. Potentially that could make it a little
bit trickier, but bro work it out. I don't know
why we're approaching mid August. You know, we're a month
away from the beginning of the season. You don't want
to have training camp without your guy, Ceedee Lamb. There

(21:32):
You've seen this time and time, Eddie, where sometimes there's
a contract dispute and there's a holdout and then there's
like a soft tissue injury, maybe like Darrell Reevis with
his hamstring one year when he's holding out. I don't
know why you would want to drag this out, like
get the deal done, get the guy in camp. Look
at the Lions. They paid I'm and Ross Saint Brown,

(21:54):
they paid Penay Sewel, they paid Jared Goff, they paid
their top guys. They didn't drag out that was early
in the off season. I just don't get the cowboys
in the Bengals making life more difficult for themselves just
doesn't make any sense at all. I don't see where
the gain is. And then you get this also, Eddie,
where you have to negotiate through social media. So Cede

(22:18):
Lamb his Twitter bio, he has removed the phrase America's team.
Oh no, yes, and he has replaced it with eights
because he wears number eighty eight. So no more America's
team on the Twitter bio for CD Lamb right there.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
Well that's big, that is big. That is uh the
move these days? That's yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
Yeah, it's like a relationship status update.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
Yeah, what would be the equivalent? Lorena? Is it like
it's complicated?

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Yeah, exactly, that's exactly what he's saying. Yeah, maybe even
a situationship.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Mmmm, maybe you should have put that in his bio
instead of eights. Just it's complicated, you know, Maybe that's
the play. I don't know, but this is the way
it's gonna go. Eddie Ceedee Lamb is gonna get paid
a boatload of money within the next week or two.
And I'll say the same thing, why did it take

(23:19):
so long? Right?

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Like, is this Jerry just wanting to stay in the headlines.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
I mean maybe a portion of it is that he's
always he loves the limelight. We all know that about Jerry.
But dude, I just don't see how I don't see
how this is beneficial at all at some point. That's
the thing, man, It's not only about the headlines. If
Jerry really wants the Super Bowl, which I believe he does,

(23:48):
but it's like, then be smart about it. Don't be
a bone head and getting your own way time and
time again by dragging things out for headlines or whatever
the reason is. It's like, if you want it, then
just be smart about how you approach it, you know,
And there are far too many times the Cowboys just
don't do that. This isn't hard. CD Lamb's one of

(24:08):
the top receivers. Pay him top cash, that's the going rate.
I don't know. I do like what CD put or
it's just like lol, Jared, there's no sense of urgency.
There are some man Eddie, there are some players in
the NFL or it'd be a much different reaction. Can
you imagine if the team owner is like, there's no
sense of urgency to pay fill in the blank. There

(24:30):
are some dudes in the NFL that would not have
just kind of laughed at that situation, like CD Lamb
did think about. Remember Jamal Adams, the safety, he had
to play hardball, He wanted out of New York, he
wanted to get away from the Jets, and he had
to basically talk trash about Woody Johnson, the team owner,
right and he got out out of there, got to Seattle.

(24:52):
But there are some players like if Jamal Adams when
he was one of the top guys, if the team
owner was like, there's no sense of urgency, I don't
I don't think he would just go to Twitter and
write lol, you know what I mean? It could be
a much bigger deal. But CD, I think that he
did a pretty good job downplaying this whole thing. Just
not smart, just not a good approach at all.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
But well, I don't think CD wants out of Dallas,
So that's a little bit of a difference.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
No, no, no, no, yeah, I'm just saying if I know,
but I'm just saying how they would handle it. Like
the comparison isn't that CD wants out. That's not what
I'm saying. It's if Jamal Adams was up for a
huge payday and the team owner was like, yeah, there's
no sense of urgency. I don't think you would have
handled that very well at all. But I think CD

(25:38):
did right, just writing lol, like okay, all right, no
sense of urgency, all right, man?

Speaker 5 (25:44):
Cool.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
You know he didn't make this. He didn't add to
the drama, is what I'm saying. I don't think some
might disagree with that. I don't think that's adding to
the drama at all. I was looking I know it's
going to be shocking to you, Eddie, but I was
looking at the gambling numbers.

Speaker 5 (26:00):
I was talking about.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Pooka Nakuwa, which you know, I don't know if he's uh,
he's gonna put up Studeley numbers. Again. The injury bug
might be an issue this season, but I was looking
that up for CD Lamb and man, his numbers, it's
still high up there in terms of what's expected from him,
like receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns and all that. It's still
some of the top numbers in the league. And this

(26:24):
is you know, Vegas. These are the sports books that
are projecting this. He's at okay, Eddie, So I have
to get the CD Lamb numbers for you. But I
just thumbed through it and I'm like, wow, Vegas is
still very high on CD. So I don't know why
the Cowboys wouldn't be. That's kind of strange to me.
Don't get that at all. But hey man, that's uh,

(26:45):
that's the Dallas Cowboys for you. Every now and then
they just can't help it, can't help but get in
their own way.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
Another note from the NFL, form a Super Bowl hero
and MVP quarterback Nick Foles announced his retirement from professional football.
I think I heard they're going to retire retires number.
I think so yeah, are you serious? Hey, what super

(27:16):
Bowl winning quarterback, MVP of the Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Come on, Philly, you gotta be better than that. Is
that really the case? What was it? Number? He was
number nine right in Philly.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Number nine correct, Philly special?

Speaker 3 (27:29):
You want to go Philly, Philly. What great audio by
the way with Doug Peterson. You know, Nick's like, you
want to go Philly, Philly, and Peterson paused for like
two seconds. He's like, let's do it. You know, major Eddie,
we talked about me gambling. You know, there's nothing compared
to Doug Peterson's gamble there to go for two with

(27:51):
a trick play like that. That was That's why there's
a statue outside the stadium. You know that was an
outstanding But come on, man. Retiring the number.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
It says they're going to honor him September sixteenth against
the Falcons.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
So well that's different, right, I Mean they're like they
I would assume he's just come out, wave to the crowd,
come out to the stadium. The area is super Bowl
MVP Nick Foles. No, we're not retiring his number because
he's a one hit wonder, you know that sort of thing.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
Pretty good one hit though, it was a great.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
One hit, outstanding one hit. But he's the Baja Men
of NFL.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Quarterback's Come on now, no, who.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Let the Dogs Out? Nick Falls?

Speaker 4 (28:39):
We let the Dogs Out? Won a Grammy?

Speaker 3 (28:42):
What else has he done besides that one?

Speaker 4 (28:44):
I mean that's a big one thing though, also the
only one in franchise history.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
So it was who Let the Dogs Out? And we
can't under sell that was a tremendous song.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
No, you got to have a better pull than that.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
That was an outstanding one hit.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
One It was not as it's a terrible song, a
one hit wonder that won a Grammy. I'll go there, Okay,
let's it was not who let the Dogs? After God's Sake,
which I hear at the Fresno State football games all
the time.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
So, oh, how do you not love that?

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Eddie?

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Come on, it's very easy. It's very easy to not
love that. Tremid this song, this song, I'm gonna quote
Jonas Knox. This song sucks.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
Wow, this song sucks.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
It's fun.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
It's festive up beef festive.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
Yes, what what festival do you play this song at?

Speaker 3 (29:44):
I would play it that many?

Speaker 4 (29:45):
Really?

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Yeah, you're thanksgiving?

Speaker 1 (29:49):
What's a crowd favorite, like everyone loves letting the Dogs.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
You would not be invited to my Thanksgiving if you
tried to play.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Oh, here's a good one. Los Lobos with Libamba, the
biggest one hit wonders of all time. They want a
Grammy for it?

Speaker 7 (30:05):
Uh, who let the Dogs Out?

Speaker 5 (30:08):
Want a Grammy?

Speaker 4 (30:09):
Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Law that's awesome because of great music.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
For the best dance recording.

Speaker 4 (30:25):
Oh, come on, that's not real. That's not It's gotta
be like the song of the year or something.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Not start moving around when that thing comes on.

Speaker 7 (30:35):
It gained popularity after appearing in Rugrats and Parents, the
movie movie I Understand it now.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
I still have that VHS tape and it's orange. It's yeah, Nickelodeon.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
You know they You know they are not barking. They
are saying who who who? Instead of who let the dogs?
And who? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (30:56):
Yeah, man, I don't believe you, but well you can
listen to it again. You know that they're obviously barking.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
They're not.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
They're saying in a barking like manner.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
It's both. Yeah, yeah, they hybrided that thing.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Dogs don't say who when they bark.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
I mean that one son, But the Baja men do right.
It's a barking version of saying the word.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
It's so clever, it's amazing.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Eddie, you're becoming grumpy in your older age over here.
You know you can't hate on who let the dogs out? Man?
Oh I can I feel like that willow point for you?
You know this, this is a breaking point for you
in your surliness. You know.

Okay, it is that time for the one and only
Justin Cooper to let us know every thing that we
need to be viewing in the viewing world. Maybe a
better way to word that, Coop, But I did my.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
Best, Thank you, Brian. So we're gonna start off at
the movie theaters as we normally do.

Speaker 7 (32:14):
Now, there's a couple movies coming out this weekend, of
note one of them one of them is especially of
No for for not good reasons. The new movie Borderlands
is coming out now. This is based off of a
very popular video game, and they've got a big name
cast here. You know, you've got Kate Blanchett, Kevin Hart,

(32:36):
Jack Black, Jamie Lee, Curtis eli Roth is the director,
and it is just getting terrible, terrible reviews. It has
got a six percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Oh no, yea yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:53):
That's like straight to plane.

Speaker 5 (32:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (32:59):
So a lot of people were very excited about this
because it is a beloved video game franchise, and it
just it seems. I saw one review which just says
they sucked all the joy.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
It's wow, Well you see it anyway, I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
I was. I was I've never actually played this game.
Believe it or not. It was very popular, but I just,
for whatever reason, never got into it.

Speaker 7 (33:22):
But I was gonna check out the movies because I've
heard of the game. The same thing happened when the
Fallout came out. I had heard of the game, I
know of it, I never played it, and then I
was like, but I'm gonna check out this TV show
and the TV show was awesome, and I'm now playing
the old Fallout.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Games as we speak.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
So I was thinking maybe a similar thing would happen
with this, But with what I've seen from these reviews.

Speaker 5 (33:46):
I'm like, I'm not gonna waste my time.

Speaker 7 (33:50):
And it's not just like the audience like you know
normally when they're this bad, Like the audience score kind
of made the audience scores pretty bad too.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
They're wow.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Yeah, so just thumbs down all the way around.

Speaker 7 (34:00):
Yeah, we have another movie coming out this weekend.

Speaker 5 (34:05):
It's called Cuckoo.

Speaker 7 (34:08):
And yeah, it's a horror movie and it's stars Hunter
Schaeffer and I.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Want to see this one.

Speaker 5 (34:17):
This is what I told you about.

Speaker 7 (34:19):
Yes, it is about a seventeen year old Gretchen leaves
her American home to live with her father, who has
just moved into a resort in the German Alps with
his new family. Arriving at their future residence, they are
greeted by mister Cohen, her father's boss. He takes an
inexplicable interest in her sister. Something doesn't seem right. So
it's a suspense slash thriller. And that is in theaters

(34:44):
right now. Now, moving over to television, we're going to
start off with a message for Lorena.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
A star is born. It's available to stream on HBO Max. Well, gosh,
I do have that streaming service, shout out like Hermit.

Speaker 7 (34:57):
Perfect, So you can watch that on the now moving
over to I believe this actually came out last week,
but I did not notice it, And since then I
have watched it as a documentary on Netflix, and it's
called Dirty Pop and it is about Loup Pearlman.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
Do you do either of you do any of you
know who?

Speaker 7 (35:19):
So he was he basically started created the boy band.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
Craze. When you said dirty pop, I thought of in
dirty Pop. Yeah, that's yeah, that's what it's you kissed up.

Speaker 7 (35:36):
Yes, he was the creator of Backstreet Boys and and
Sync basically. And it turns out so he ends up
going to jail. I don't know if you know the story,
but he ends up going to jail for the biggest
like Ponzi scheme in the history of the country.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
Yeah, it was. It's a pretty interesting story.

Speaker 7 (36:02):
I know that he went to like I knew that
he went to jail just from seeing in the news,
but I didn't know all the details behind it. It's
a I believe it's a three episode documentary. It was.
It was really entertaining, especially for those of you that
are of my generation that kind of grew up through
that entire era.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
You know, Coop, I just started thinking about with poker. Right,
you don't want to be the bubble boy, Right, you
don't want to be the first person not to cash.
Think about who was like the sixth dude that didn't
make the Backstreet Boys cut. You know, there's got to
be that story out there somewhere. We're like, Yeah, this

(36:38):
freaking guy that you're talking about didn't choose me the
other It's.

Speaker 7 (36:42):
Kind of hilarious that you used that phrasing because one
of this this guy's scams was he was the sixth
member of Backstreet Boys and n Sync No, so he
was their manager. He was getting the manager cut, but
he was also getting equal payment to all of the
guys in the group in their contracts. He had it

(37:04):
as he is the sixth member.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
So I guess it'd be the seventh member.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
Wow, that's crazy.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
Yeah, it's wild. But it goes even deeper than that.

Speaker 7 (37:17):
The money that he got to start these groups was
also a sham.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
It's very interesting.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
I got to check that out. What's that called it?

Speaker 5 (37:26):
It's called dirty Pop on Netflix.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Dirty Pop? Okay, that sounds good.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
Yes.

Speaker 7 (37:32):
And then, last, but not least, I want to mention
a new Apple TV Plus show that is premiering on Wednesday,
August fourteenth. It's called Bad Monkey and it is a
comedy slash drama a drama y It is from the
from the creators of Ted Lasso and Shrinking, and it's

(37:56):
starring Vince vaughn as Andrew Yancy. When're Miami police detective
now demoted to restaurant inspector, okay, he finds himself drawn
into a case involving corruption and environmental issues after a
taurus finds a severed arm while fishing. Oh yes, I'm
Michelle Monague the.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Old severed arm while fishing.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (38:17):
Michelle Monaghan also stars in this uh and Zach Braff
is a guest star as well. So the first of
ten episodes. The first two of ten episodes stream on
Wednesday on Apple TV Plus. And that is Koop Scoop Undertainment.
