Speaker 1 (00:00):
Too close for a comfort. That is on the way.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
We were broadcasting live from the tierrack dot com studios.
Tierrack dot com will help catch you there and unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection no for ten
thousand recommended installers. Tierrack dot com the way tire buying
should be. Man, it was a nail bider. Men's US
Olympic basketball team USA beat Serbia.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Ninety five to ninety one. Eddie. It was not easy.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
US trailed by seventeen points, but they had the old
comeback in the fourth quarter. Trailed by thirteen entering the
fourth they outscored Serbia thirty two to fifteen in the
final frame. Really good game, really exciting. Kevin Durant think
about all the big games that Cad has been in
(00:55):
in his Career's a two time champion, and this is
what he said about how how great of a game
it was against Serbia.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Yeah, that was at the top. That was at the top,
one of the best games ever been a part of.
For the simple fact that we dug deep, being down
fifteen that late in the game, we barely called players.
We just played off of each other. Well, you know,
it's a lot of nonverbal you know actions out there.
Guys just knew each other were going to be on
both ends of the floor. It was special, especially to
be a part of Steph Curry. We talked about each
(01:24):
game somebody, it might somebody have to step up, it
might be a night, and he came and had the
best night out of anybody the whole tournament. So incredible
to watch him knockdown shots to keep US afloat, le
Bron playing extremely hard the whole game. It was incredible. Man,
Joel was insane to night. I just love what everybody
did there.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
You go, one of the best games he's ever been
a part of. And like you said, Eddie, Steph Curry
thirty six points, hitting nine threes, Lebron had a triple double.
First guy with two triple doubles in the Olympics, and
then Joel Embiid with nineteen points. He was eight of eleven.
So short rotation. But Team USA gets it done. No
(02:06):
Jason Tatum playing again, Eddie, no Halliburton. But they move
on to the gold medal game against France, and that's
going to be the fourth time they've played France for gold,
and it happened the last Olympics too. So they're running
it back a rematch, if you will, a little different
this time though.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
They are going to be a very loud I would
imagine Boasters Arena with the home country there trying to
push him on. So looking forward to that gold medal game.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, I am too. That's going to be on Saturday.
I think it's at three point thirty eastern. I think
that's the correct time. Yeah, three thirty eastern on Saturday.
And look, man, this is another funny comment from KD
again just talking about how high quality the game was,
and it really was.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
It was high quality basketball.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
And there's one funny part within this sound, but again
just talking about how how high caliber the game was.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I think this game is gonna go down as one
of the most memorable games for anybody. You see yolkis
on that end doing what he can't do, the will
this team the victory. Then you got you know, MVP's
on our teams. You also got to get the other
guys credit too, like the Bogies. And sorry if I'm
getting forgetting Number thirty's name, but he played a great
game for them as well, shooting it and their whole
team played extremely well. It was just high level basketball
(03:24):
that people could enjoy down to the wire. Its great entertainment,
but it was also great basketball.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, he's right. But this is the funny part though, Ddie.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
I thought, sorry if I'm getting forgetting number thirty's name,
but he played a great game for them as well.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I love that combent man. You know, number thirty, shout
out to him. Don't know what the hell his name is,
but he played great.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
It reminds me of a very classic and I'm old
because I remember this Johnny most call. Uh he was
the old old Celtics broadcaster.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Oh yeah, probably, Yeah, he was lays it in.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yeah, he was doing it a Celtics exhibition game against
like Yugoslavia. He had no clue how to pronounce their names,
and he would say, like he gets it over to
the lefty and number thirty. He's like, I'm having trouble
for these names.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
What was that was that? I missed it? Did you
say it's the Olympics?
Speaker 4 (04:22):
No, no, no, it was the Celtics had played some
like exhibition game against.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Oh okay, gotcha, and they had it on.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
The radio and he just was like, oh he did it.
Was not.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
The man that's so good. Ju gets it over that
number thirty two.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
The little guy gets it.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
The little guy's got it.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
The left he's got it now. Oh that's tremendous. I
wish he was on the call for some of these
Team USA games. If he was on the call, magically,
you know, against Serbia.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
That would be high quality. That would absolutely be high quality.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
This look, man, I thought Noah Eagle and Dwayne Wade
did a pretty good job on the calls of these games.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
This was a late bucket.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Kate Kevin Durant hit a nice little two like it
was a deep two to give the US a four
point lead in the final minute. But check out Noah
Eagle and Dwayne Wade on the call on NBC.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Pet your steps up there, he walks the io, he's
got to the ICEO, fought to shoot the calls, the song,
he's not the.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Rah fix it rain.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
I thought they did a good job.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
But man, I you know to picture, you know in
my head, like KD you know, the Junny bos, the.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Kday steps back. Hey had that, Hey had that.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Or however he would have called it, that would have
been just top shelf stuff right there.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
He was awesome, But I really enjoyed that game, Adie.
You know I was thinking about.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
This too, is Look, man, sometimes your expectations get in
your way. That's not just a sports thing, that's in
life also. Sometimes the death of happiness is high expectations.
And think of how higher expectations are for Team USA.
They're star studded, they have amazing talent, and I'm sure
(06:19):
there were a lot of US fans that looked at
that game and they're like, really, it was that close
against Serbia, what are we doing right now? And it's like, look, man,
it's a forty point it's a forty minute game. They
were hot from three, they made fifteen of thirty in
the first three quarters, and all of a sudden, Team
USA is in a freaking dog fight. These are feeble rules.
(06:43):
It's half football on a hardwood get away with way
more contact. And I don't want to make like all
these excuses for Team USA. I'm just simply saying, sometimes
you get too much of the silver spoon treatment, you
know what I mean, where it's like, oh we didn't
win by thirty, what the hell? It's like Alabama football
(07:03):
when they had it cranked up with Nick Saban, where
It's like we just barely beat Arkansas. It's like bro
Arkansas came to play today, you know, So to come
back and win a game with that pressure and those stakes,
I don't think you can just like shrug your shoulders
and be like, eh, I thought they were gonna win
by twenty five though, right, Eddie, That's how I see it.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Yeah, I would to agree with that, I think, you know,
I know, Charles Barkley had some critical comments about Steve
Kerr and how he's using the bench and things like that.
But you know, I think I think basketball fans have
come to understand and I think even casual fans. Look,
the international game is much improved. Look at all these
international players that are playing in the NBA now, I mean,
(07:47):
obviously Jokic and so it's not quite the same as
it was right back in the day. The world has
really come around, and obviously Joki is one of the
best players in the world. So I get that. You know,
the US should win that game, and they did, But
for it, I don't know. I don't think most basketball
fans are thinking we should win every game by twenty anymore,
(08:08):
you know what I mean. I just I just think
that's the reality of you know what international basketball is now.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, I would hope you're right, because you're you're on point.
International hoops is way better. Think about the original Dream
Team in ninety two and the competition that they faced
back then. Like these these international teams are way better
than they were in the early nineties. It's like night
(08:35):
and day, and yeah, I think that they should change.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
But you know how it goes, Eddie.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
You look at USA's depth and how many talented players
they have, and like Kad said right there in that clip, So.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
If I'm forgetting number thirty's name, but he played a
great game for them as well.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
You know, I don't mean I know he doesn't mean
it in a disrespectful way, but it's telling where it's like, hey, man,
get number thirty's name.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
You put a gun to my head. I couldn't what.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Its name is, right, Like, he's not in the NBA,
but he's capable. And I think sometimes you look at
all this NBA talent on Team USA, and you look
at other teams and they might have a couple of
NBA guys, but they don't have a full team of
NBA players.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
And the tendency is to think.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
What the hell, we didn't win by at least fifteen
We didn't cover the spread their favored by like sixteen points.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
And that's just how some fans operate.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I don't know, man, I look at it differently where
it's not as easy to win like that, just and
blow out fashion time and time and time again. A
team like Serbia led by Jokic, you know he's won
three or four MVPs. It's not going to be a
walk in the park every time. I don't think there's
anything wrong with the dogfight that you had to pull
(09:51):
out the way they did.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah, No, I agree, and I think that look, they
came up clutch when it counted most. You know, if
they would have lost. I'm not saying they shouldn't be
criticized for that. They should, but in the end they
got it done.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
And man, there's some soundbites too. They were replaying. This
might have been before the whole Olympics got underway, but
they asked Steph Curry, like, Hey, which game are you
looking forward to or which opponent are you looking forward
to the most? And he said, whoever we play in
the gold medal game. I'd like imagine if they didn't
(10:27):
even reach that game, Eddie, Like, think of some of
the comments that would have been thrown in their face,
but luckily that didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Some interesting by.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
The way, number thirty, if I'm pronouncing this right, probably
not okay? Alexa Aramovic, our.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Boy Aramovich, huh yeah. And he was four for six
from three point range. Our guy number thirty will call
him right, he had a good game, Eddie. It's amazing. Right,
they were fifteen, like I said, from three in the
first three quarters, oh for nine in the fourth quarter
(11:06):
from distance, and that was the difference. Right, there was
a big part of the reason the US came back.
And that's the thing. Man, that's like, think about that.
Think how pressure works. You know, the US they can't lose, Eddie.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
If they lose, it's a freaking disaster. And that's real pressure.
And they responded down thirteen entering the fourth quarter. If
you look at Serbia and they're hitting all these threes,
they're hitting all these shots, and then the pressure comes
in the fourth quarter, like, man, they can taste it.
There may be a big three away from winning this thing,
(11:43):
and all of a sudden, it's hard to hit those
open shots that oh for nine from three. Like credit
some of the US's defense tightening. But they had some
wide open shots. They just clanged them. You know, that's
pressure right there, Eddie. How about the uh little Olympic
trivia here? So I found this interesting Steph Curry his
(12:03):
thirty six points. It's the second most scored by a
US men's player in Olympic history. It's one shy of Carmelo.
Anthony Carmelo had thirty seven points against Nigeria in twenty twelve,
and Melo.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Was at the game. It's kind of funny.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Bogdan Bovanovic, Bogdanovic, My goodness, I'm pulling a KD here.
Bogdan Bogdanovic. He was given the mello. You know he
does the three to the side of his head, right,
the three fingers to the side of his head. That's
what Bogi was doing to Melo throughout the entire game.
(12:44):
Is they had a little back and forth going on.
So Melo has scored the most points in a single
game in US men's Olympic history, thirty seven. How about this, Eddie,
So the most points scored in a single Olympic game
on the men's side. This is our guy, Brazilian basketball
player Oscar Schmidt.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Oh yeah, I remember him.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
How many points do you think he scored to set
the record. I would have no idea, Eddie. I'm Alex Trebek,
the late great with the answers here. I would not
know this answer whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Fifty four points?
Speaker 1 (13:16):
So fifty five?
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Eh, great, cass he scored fifty five against Spain. That
was in the eighty eight Olympics. So our guy, Oscar Schmidt,
he has the single game Olympic record with fifty five.
On the US side, mellow with thirty seven. And then
on Thursday, our guy, chef Curry huh A lot of
love on social media for the thirty six he dropped
(13:41):
against Serbia.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
So there you go. There's your Olympic history. You feel
smarter right now, don't you.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
Eddie, Always when I'm working with you. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Oh wow, that's that's quite the compliment right there. It's
very nice.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
All right.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
We got a lot to do, Eddie.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
I've got a what some might consider a hot football take,
you know, hot addiction. Scorching hot maybe is a way
to describe it.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
I don't know. You might call it dumb. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
You might say that's just no. I disagree, that's dumb.
That's not gonna happen, you know, but I want to
throw it your way. Also, honesty is the best policy,
unless you're Jim Harbaugh and you just lie through your teeth.
But there is a guy who did the exact opposite
of what Jim Harbaugh recently did, so I find that
(14:27):
story interesting as well. We'll get you both of those
around the corner. Feel free to check in. Militia always

So I've got a hot NFL take. Okay, you might
think it's wacky. I mean maybe some people probably will.
But I've already bet this, you know, so I don't.
(16:41):
I don't know if this makes it any better, but
I've backed up my belief with money.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Okay, I am betting on a quarterback.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
That's not very good, but he just isn't this bad
for his season prop in terms of passing yards, the
low of the low is Daniel Jones Giants quarterback, and
he is listed at bet MGM. At least he was
the other day when I bet it at twenty six
(17:13):
hundred seventy five and a half yards. Maybe that's a
confusing way two thousand, six hundred and seventy five and.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
A half, Eddie.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
I'm not sitting here telling you Daniel Jones is awesome,
because he isn't.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
He's not very good, but he's not that bad.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
He threw for over three thousand yards as a rookie
in twelve starts. What are the chances I would love
to notice I don't have the answer, Eddie. How many
quarterbacks do you think suffered season ending injuries in consecutive seasons?
I would imagine the numbers fairly low, right, because Daniel
(17:51):
Jones suffered a torn acl season ending injury last season.
I doubt that happens again. I don't think lightning's going
to strike two seasons in a row the NFL. It could.
I'm betting that it doesn't. If Daniel Jones is upright
for at least twelve thirteen games, he could miss four
or five games. I still think he's going to get
(18:11):
to twenty seven hundred yards passing. He did it as
a daisy fresh rookie, why wouldn't he do it this year?
And he's got my leak neighbors as this rookie wide receiver.
So that's where my money is. I'm betting the over
on Daniel Jones passing yardage this year. What do you
think of that?
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Yeah? I looking at the numbers of who threw for
that many yards last year or who didn't. Yeah, you've
got justin fields. We mentioned him earlier. Oh gosh, he
almost threw for that many yards and he missed games,
and he missed a couple of games. So yeah it
Desmond Ridder did throw for just over that.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Oh my gosh, Richard did.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Yeah. I think I would say that Daniel Jones is
better than him. Yeah, so yeah, I think it's I
think it's a solid bet.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
There you go. I like it.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
This is crazy too, bo Knicks, he's next in line
the Broncos rookie quarterback. We don't even know if he's
gonna be the starter in week one, we don't know
that yet. He's in a duel with Jared Stidham. But
Bo Nicks is listed just under three thousand yards. He's
at two nine hundred and fifty.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
And a half. You always have to have the half.
There is that bet, MGM.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
So think about that Daniel Jones, who is in what
this is gonna be year six for Daniel Jones, and
he's like almost three hundred yards lower in.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Terms of that's insane.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Then Bo Knicks really, come on, man, Like, Daniel Jones
isn't that bad. I'm not telling you he's good. I
don't think he's good. He's not that bad. He just
isn't so it's to me, this is health. If you're
taking the under on Daniel Jones, you're banking on him
getting injured, because I think that's your only hope that
the under cash is if he's there for fourteen games. Eddie,
(20:06):
this is an easy, easy over. I think it's funny too,
because I'm already invested. If someone's like, hey, Daniel Jones
only threw for one hundred and five yards this week,
I'm like, did he get hurt? No, Well, we're good,
We're fine, Like that's such a low number in today's NFL. Dude,
as long as he's healthy, we're good. And by the way,
(20:30):
I was watching a little of preseason football. Yes, I
have a sickness at he I wasn't betting on it, though,
you'd be proud of me. But Drew Locke, who's the
backup quarterback for the Giants, he threw a disgusting interception.
It's like Carl Banks, who's on the call for the
Giant side. He said he threw the ball into a
team meeting bad and then he got hurt.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
I think it might have been the same play.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
It was either that or a different play, but he
got nicked up, so he threw an ugly interception. He
also got banged up. The point is Daniel Jones is
not getting benched for either Drew Locke or Tommy DeVito.
That's not happening. So it's just a health thing. As
long as he's healthy. We got to Seeddie. It's going
(21:15):
to be a cash for us. The only question is
where do we spend our money?
Speaker 4 (21:19):
You know, it's where do you typically spend your money.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
That's a good question. Food, the grocery store is a
big one.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Gas, gas and grocery store. I would say, are the
top two you anything else?
Speaker 4 (21:33):
That's something something like, you know, if you win a
big bet, you want to do something fun.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Yeah, you know, it'd be either be like a vacation,
maybe buy an item that's memorable, like a guitar or something.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
If you really cash.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
In'd be cool, like it's my guitar bet when Team
USA beat Serbia. You know, about five or six, I'd
say so more in that neighborhood five or six roughly.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
My nephew was in a band and he they'd give
him free he was a bass player. They'd give him
free basses all the time.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Really, yeah, who would.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
The bass guitar companies. They they would give him stuff
all the time. He had all kinds of different ones.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
So is this sort of a successful band they're hooking him.
Speaker 7 (22:23):
Up with that?
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Yeah, I'm in the genre that they performed in.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Yeah, yeah, that's pretty cool. It's getting free gear.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
Yeah, more than he knew what to do with. You know,
this is kind of just ridiculous at one point, you know, like,
what are you gonna do with all these bass guitars?
Speaker 1 (22:36):
And I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
They just point, yeah, yeah, make a buck on that,
no doubt. All right, Eddie, we got to get to, uh,
the opposite of an NFL coach here, actually a funny story.
I don't think it's going to be painful for you whatsoever.
We'll get to that. Well, every now and then I
(23:00):
have an opinion or an angle on things, and it's good,
it's good for radio. We see it differently, you know,
but I feel like every now and then one of
my one of my views.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Is just painful for you.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
Yeah, true, I hear.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
That's yeah, But I don't think this is going to
be painful. Who knows. We'll find out.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Ben Meler
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
This isn't an official question in terms of the NFL players, Eddie,
but Nick Foles from Arizona.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
There you go, look at that.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Did he play hoops too?
Speaker 1 (23:40):
I don't think he'd know. I don't believe.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Don't quote me on that, but I don't believe. So
is he supposed to be a basketball player.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
I don't know. Just kind of popped in my head.
I thought maybe he played for Arizona and basketball too.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Not that I know if I would like to know,
I've never really thought about that. Like the well known
guys of we just had Julius going to the Hall
of Fame. Yeah, of course he played hoops at North Carolina.
There are I'm sure there are some probably many NFL
players that played college basketball also that I have no
idea that they did.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
You know, remember, speaking of Arizona, Kenny Lofton remember he
played Yeah, sure, major League baseball. He played on the
Wildcats basketball team.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Yeah, it was big the artist formerly known as the Indians.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Right, that is that is correct?
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah, for sure, definitely remember Kenny lefty right, very good
left handed hitter.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Okay, So real quick. Yeah, more Nick Foles trivia. Do
you know what school he started his career at He
transferred to Arizona.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Oh, No, I don't know that. Michigan State really Oh,
because he was there with Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Played one game for the Spartans against UAB Wow, No, kidd,
and after the season he moved on to Arizona.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
That's great trivia. Now, I don't know this.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
He might have left because of Kirk Cousins, Like Kirk
was the guy there and he's like, shoot, I'm not
gonna play i gotta go to Tucson.
Speaker 8 (25:09):
You know.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
That might have been the case.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
I'm not positive about that, but I think they were
there at the same time.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
And no college troops for Nick Foles. That was college
was an error that popped in my head.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Isn't that pretty crazy? Where Look, I've got more more?
Speaker 7 (25:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (25:26):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (25:26):
He played high school football? Did Nick Foles with a
current kicker in the NFL who's probably going in the
Hall of Fame?
Speaker 1 (25:33):
So he played you said high football?
Speaker 4 (25:36):
Yeah, in Texas west Lake High School.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Man, I don't know there's a current NFL kicker. Yeah,
you said, yeah, that's probably going in the Hall of fame.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Is it justin Tucker?
Speaker 8 (25:47):
It is?
Speaker 7 (25:48):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Really? Wow?
Speaker 2 (25:49):
So that's crazy, that's insane. Think about this where Michigan State,
we don't think of them as like a Big Ten
powerhouse or a college football player powerhouse. And they had
Kirk Cousins and Nick Foles at the same school at
the same time. And look at what they've done, especially well,
(26:11):
Nick Foles is a super Bowl hero, you know, super
Bowl MVP, beat Tom Brady's team, the Philly Special, the
whole thing. And then Kirk Cousins been putting up numbers
for the better part of a decade. You know, that's
pretty good for a school who's not known for having
great college football success for the last you know, a
couple of decades or so. That's pretty good at Sparti
(26:35):
to have both those dudes there at the same time.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Yeah, not bad, not bad at all.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Because listen, there are some schools like Ohio State right
where Joe Burrow had to transfer and he goes to
LSU because he wasn't going to get the playing time.
But Ohio State has had a ton of success. You know,
they've been a lot more successful than Michigan State has
the last decade or two and but Michigan State had
(27:01):
that type of talent there at the same time. That's wild, Okay.
So here's the story, Eddie, of the anti Jim Harbaugh.
So we know Harbaugh is lying through his teeth saying, oh,
I don't I don't know anything about anything when it
comes to you know, the the cheating scandal and you know,
stealing signs and all that stuff, which is a joke.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
This guy, he told the truth.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
So have you heard about Australian field hockey player Tom Craig.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Well, of course I have. Who hasn't heard of.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
The Yeah, the Australia ausse field hockey player. Yeah, I
hadn't heard of him either, but I thought you might
have heard of this story.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
So he got sent home.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
At first he got taken into custody, yeah, allegedly purchasing cocaine.
And he was released and apparently the police broke up
a drug deal on Tuesday night. It was taking place
in the city's ninth district, for whatever it's worth. And
(28:07):
so this guy, he was released without a fine, but
he was given a warning, Eddie. He was given a
stern warning, like, hey, hey, cut it out with the
cocaine buying. Over here in Paris probably dealt with it,
but this was his statement here. Tom Craig, the well
(28:28):
known Australian field hockey player, said, first, I'd like to
apologize for what has occurred over the last twenty four hours.
I made a terrible mistake and take full responsibility for
my actions. My actions are my own and in no
way reflect the values of my family, my teammates, my friends,
my sport and the Australian Olympic team. I've embarrassed all
(28:49):
and I'm truly sorry. So I thought, huh, wow, what
do you know admitting wrongdoing? The opposite of our guy
Harbaugh over here, who's just lying through his teeth, said no,
I didn't know anything about stealing signs.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Stealing signs we were doing that? Really what I had
no idea?
Speaker 2 (29:06):
I do like because listen, Eddie, you could get these
lawyered up statements and I I.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Just know these allegations.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
That was a lawyered up statement. That sounds like one
of those typical When you read that, I thought, wow,
that's just a generic apology that any athlete says.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
I disagree.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
I think that the lawyered up statements are sometimes the
opposite where it's like the findings, you know, these are
false allegations. I did nothing of the sort. I will
be proven correct in the long run. YadA YadA, YadA, YadA.
And some of that is true, they were innocent, but
some of that they are lies and they are guilty
(29:48):
and they're just saying they're not. I'm just like, Wow,
he just owned it. He's like, yeah, I was an idiot,
my bad on that, right. Like sometimes you do get
the opposite statement where they say, no, I didn't do
anything wrong. He just said, yeah, I'm a bozo, my bad.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Okay, I didn't I don't know. I thought that was
just a generic whatever apology. I didn't think it was
anything special at all.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
I'm just saying that he'd said, yeah, I did something wrong, right,
Like a lot of athletes don't say that.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Okay, right, I get you say those all the time,
don't you.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
More In Michigan State trivia, okay, it was not Kirk Cousins,
but it was it was another quarterback who played in
the NFL that was the starting quarterback that year.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
I don't know who was it, Brian Hoyer. Oh so
Hoyer was there? Okay, So I'm getting my years mixed up.
Well I'm not you know who's who of Michigan State. Yeah,
I'm curious what the the years were like, right with Hoyer, Foles, Cousins,
(30:57):
Like what years kind of bled to gather if you will, right.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
It would take more of an investigation on my part,
which I'm moving to do if you like.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Okay, So how about.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
This two thousand and seven This that was in two
thousand and seven season.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Okay, let's check it out. We could do this real fast.
I feel like on the fly is better radio, you know.
I feel like on the fly as we stall, like,
all right, I'm searching Michigan mis Miami of ohaa.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Her Cousin's red shirted in two thousand and seven. Then
he played the next four years sparsely in two thousand
and eight, then took over as a starter in two
thousand and nine.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Wow, how about that?
Speaker 2 (31:36):
And Brian Hoyer, he was he's part of the Pats
preseason telecast that Thursday night.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Yeah, he was.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
They're doing kind of the Manning cast, Eddie. Did you
see about this?
Speaker 4 (31:48):
No, I didn't see that.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
They don't have a play by play guy doing the
preseason games for the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
It's just Scott Zola Boy, it's great.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
Is this the wave of the future.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
It could be, I hope, but it was Zolac and
he was there with the mccordy brothers. They were both
that all three of them were in the booth, so
they didn't have a play by play guy. They just
basically had three analysts and then at one point before
halftime they threw it back to the studio and Brian
Hoyer was in the studio. It was on the Patriots
(32:23):
telecast on Thursday. Man, do I sound like a loser?
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Eddy?
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Good? Lord? I just.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Check it out preseason action and you know that. But
it stood out to me, you know.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Yeah, No, they actually think that's interesting. Well good, I'm
glad and I hope that's not the future of broadcasting,
but I wouldn't be shocked if it is.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah, I think you're going to see more and more
of it.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Even though I think it's I don't think it's going
to replace the traditional right, I can't.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
I'll put it this way.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
I can't imagine big playoff games the Super Bowl where
it's a Manning cast format. I like the Manning cast, right,
but to replace the mainstream I don't think that's gonna happen, Eddie.
That's like when we had Gojira at the opening ceremony
for the Olympics, the metal band, and it's like, whoa,
(33:12):
look at this, this is different. Okay, that's not gonna
be the super Bowl halftime performance, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Unfortunately, we're not gonna have Lamb of God there.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Yeah, that's very unfortunate for one of us.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Very unfortunate.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Yes, all right, right around the corner, Militia, get on
in here. The weather is, the water is just fine.
Right you ever hear that? Like two call No, it's
just fine. Get on in here. If you want to
get in feel free to do so. We've got Coop
Scoops in the final hour. I want to ask Eddie
inject him with the truth serum of what would be
(33:50):
the best spot for this player that is on the way.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
He's Eddie Garcia.
Speaker 2 (33:55):

the top of the hour. Okay, we're gonna go with
the militia right here, because they are lining up and
they are knocking.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
At the door. And what do we do, Eddie, We
open the door. That's what we do.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
We've got Tony the Bay Area wants to check in here. Tony,
you're on Fox Sports Radio. What's going on? Man?
Speaker 8 (34:52):
Hey, Brian, you and Eddie are doing a good job.
Just one of that, you know. Neday, I called in
about a dog. I went to the Berkeley Animal Care
shelter and I guess they posted the name and his picture.
Speaker 7 (35:06):
They made them odin. They put him as.
Speaker 8 (35:08):
Affectionate athletic, curious, friendly, loyal, playful, oding is very friendly
and the great nineteen or run or ring buddy. And
he's also a famous dog under their mind, and I
appreciate that. And also I wanted to tie on the
quarterback's now playing in the preseason. I just think coaches
(35:31):
are started to possibly lose their season right after the
better get passed and looked like fouls and their cobeats.
I don't agree with it, but I know you can't.
You can't understand, you know, kind of.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
You know, yeah, I mean I hear you, Tony, and listen, man,
thanks for checking in. The cell phone is a little scratchy,
you know, but we appreciate this just a smidge, you know.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
But I don't know, Eddie, we've been through it, right.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
It's a push pole type thing. I think you get
certain guys some more reps. Bryce Young had the worst
passer rating in the NFL last season. I think you
should get him a couple of series. I get there's
injury concern, but at some point you got to get
him out there. And there's got to be a suck
concern as well, you know, like, hey, if we don't
get him reps, he might suck again. Why don't we
(36:22):
get him some reps? That's how I look at it, right,
It seems to make sense.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
I was looking for the suck drop here.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
Sorry, nice, awesome, let's think in Rick Nor we suck again?
Rick is in Minnesota. Got something for us here? Rick,
you're on radio?
Speaker 1 (36:40):
What's up?
Speaker 7 (36:41):
Bertie?
Speaker 4 (36:42):
Hi?
Speaker 7 (36:43):
Thanks for taking my carver? Right. I got some questions.
I mean I saw at one point I knew what
was going on with the Vikings. I mean at one minute. Yeah,
it could have went on, you know, like when all
these other quarterbacks for looking at different contracts. It could
have went on and got somebody like Pracamo and they say, oh,
well we're going to take Sam Dinard. And then of
(37:04):
course they have they got that J. J. Mccusey, And
it was pretty much set at one point that that
Dinard was going to get to start. Well now I
heard on the news today you don't know who he's
going to start.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Okay, Well, hey, Rick, listen, we're up against it, man.
But it's a two headed monster right now between dawn
shout out skull
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Right,
