Speaker 1 (00:36):

powerful microphones of fsre.

An onmatt selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Chip and the Queues
has sent roughly ten thousand messages over the years. Tirac
dot com, The Way Tire buying shot be so our
lead this hour from a football too looser on Sunday

(01:42):
from depending on where you are, from morning tonight or
from afternoon.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
To late night. Either way, our leave this hour.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Will you start in the lone star state Most Sundays
in the Mondays we start with the NBC Island Game,
Living the Island life and night football. CJ Stroud God's
gift to the quarterback position. I was told that in
the offseason the greatest young generational talent we've ever seen until.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
The next one. But CJ.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Stroud and the Texans getting the spotlight against Caleb Williams,
the supposed next big thing of the Chicago Bears. You
had Collinsworth there, t Rico. They were having quite the time,
quite the time. So I don't have you watch this
or not. Maybe you were worn out by the day
you lost your parlays. You got smoked like someone I

(02:32):
know against a penny. So see Jay Stroud. Now you
look at the stat line, he's that well, he's the headliner.
So he had two hundred and sixty yards, most of
that in the first half, also had the one touchdown
and then Kaemy Fairbairn. That is the hero right. I

(02:55):
mean that's the guy, the kicker, Fairbairn. I didn't have
to say the guys I know went to UCLA, But
I mean, when you're talking about your idiot kicker in
the headline, he had field goals of fifty six, forty seven,
fifty nine and fifty three four field goals. Yeah, not impressed.

(03:15):
Houston gets the win. They don't cover the number. Remember,
good teams win, great teams cover. They're not a great team.
They didn't cover. They didn't cover the spread Sunday night.
So Caleb Williams, we'll get to him in a second,
but let us discuss the question what do you make
We'll start with the team that's supposed to be right

(03:36):
there among all the elites in the AFC, the team
from Houston. So what do you make of this performance
by C J. Stroud and the Texans offense? So I've
got campaign headquarters, patio, furniture, and wagon, and we will
combine all of these things together.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
And we are going to give you.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
A giant migraine headache. If you give us ten minutes,
we'll give you my I'm kidding, all right. So a
the Malor report card after a thorough minute by minute
observation the Houston Texans offense.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
I give the Texans offense the D.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
I give him a D. I expected more. I expected more.
I was not overly impressed. Now we haven't we haven't
seen total domination. It's only two games. But that's all
we have. We do the show today. We don't do
the show at the end of the year. We do
the show now. We'll worry about the big picture at
the end of the year. We have to grade these

(04:35):
things on week one and week two. We're talking right
now at the end of week two with one game
left on Monday night, as we're doing this, and I
just did not get the sense that this is one
of those teams. I did not, despite adding Joe Mixon
and Stefan Diggs in the offseason, and even though they're

(04:56):
two and all, this was a grinded out kind of
a game.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
C J.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Strapp his MVP campaign, the campaign headquarters for the CJ.
Stroud MVP is in crisis mode at this point. They're
not clicking on all cylinders. Underwhelming. Underwhelming would be the
way I would describe it. Despite the two wins, Texans

(05:22):
were way too dependent on the kicking game and those
not just field goals, long field goals like long field goals.
And now before you call well yeah, but yeah, but yeah,
but yeah, but yeah, but the Chicago defense is pretty good.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Okay, Spyler alert.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
That is true, perhaps that the Bears do have a
good defense, but irrelevant to the conversation.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
And here's why.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Okay, it's relevant because if the Texans are high for
loutant and they're the real deal, right, they're the real
McCoy their top notch offense. Don't you agree with me
that it doesn't matter who they play, that they're going
to put up impressive offensive numbers. The opponent should not
matter and does not matter if you're truly elite. Now,
if you're good against bad teams, okay, fine, then you

(06:06):
can say they're good against bad teams. That's the Texans.
But the cream's supposed to rise to the crop here,
to the top of the crop. And that that second
half offense by Houston was atrocious, was absolutely atrocious. They
had the ball seven times in the second half against
the Bears, one field goal of fumble and five punts

(06:29):
and that's it in the second half.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Stroud after halftime averaged barely five yards per past five
point one yards per pass in the second half, had
a passer rating below seventy in the second half of
the game. And Joe Mixon overall the old Bengal Joe Mixon.
He had nine carries for twenty five yards. Whoopee damn
do well. How about Stefan dis Clearly Stefan Diggs must

(06:51):
have been the star of the show. No, he was
targeted six times. He had four catches and thirty seven yards.
Ho hum ho hum ho hum. Nico Collins was the
star of the show at the beginning of the game.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
It's some big.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Class pass plays. Now on the other side, the better
story is in the losing locker room. So, my guys
in Chicago, Eugene in Chicago, you fee me. You know
all you guys, you know you are right? Did there
content contributors to the show? My core group of people
in Chicago listen to the show. You told me this
guy's amazing, right, So how would you qualify this performance

(07:29):
by the rookie quarterback Caleb Williams of the Bears in
this game? So this is nothing to paint your fingernails over.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
If you know what I'm saying, right, there's nothing.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
You get all excited there and go down and paint
your fingernails. Because Williams, who was billed by the establishment,
the football establishment, being like patio furniture, No, what do
I mean by that? Build this patio furniture. No, as
simply required. Yeah, you pick it up, it's all built.
You don't have to build it. You know it's wonderful,

(08:04):
ready to use, right out of the box. Take him
out of the box and you're on your way. That
would be false advertising. That would definitely be false advertising
because he had a rude awakening in week one, and
I would say this is also in that category. Caleb,
he drowned against the Tennessee Titans. They won the game anyway, Chicago,
but I would argue he wasn't measurably better in this game.

(08:28):
I didn't see leaps and bounds of improvement. The Bears
offense finished the game with six punts, two Caleb Williams interceptions.
There could have been more one turnover on downs for
the Bears offense. Plus they did have a touchdown and
a couple of field goals. But you could have gotten
that kind of production from justin fields right or some

(08:52):
guy drafted in the third round, not the.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Number one over.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
I mean Kim On averaged four point seven yards per
past Kayleb Williams. Less than five seven is the standard
for average, so he's way below average. Both these quarterbacks
were way below average, at least in the second half
for CJ.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Stroud.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
The other thing I noticed is the plague of so
many quarterbacks in the NFL. Kleb williams internal clock appears
to be broken. What I mean by that is he
kept getting sacked. Many of them were because he held
the ball for too long, and you really gotta speed

(09:38):
up the clock. And if you don't, you're gonna get killed.
You're gonna lead the world in sacks. And that's no
way to consistently be successful in the NFL. He will
sack seven times in this game. And again it's like, well,
the Tuxes have a good defense, okay, you know that.
Going in you get rid of the ball, right, you
treat it like a hot potato and you move and

(10:00):
that's it.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Last word, Speaking of hot potatoes. We go to Colorado.
Why not? The Steelers offense did just enough to beat
the Broncos. As the headline here this is from Justin
Field's post game Now, Fields had another stinker at quarterback.
This guy sucks, Justin Fields, but he then had the

(10:23):
hutzba to say that the Steelers gave Russell Wilson a
quote petty game ball after the win over Denver because,
according to Justin Fields, Russ kind of got did dirty
last year. In fact, just to prove I'm not making
this up, we have the audio tape. Here is what

(10:44):
it sounded like postgame Justin Fields after the Steelers beat
the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Listen closely.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
I mean, I think we all know Ruscott kind of
did dirty last year. So I know he wish, you know,
he could have played today in this game. But it's awesome,
you know, getting a win for him. He got a
petty game ball, so yeah, he's great ging it debth
for ust for sure.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
What is the petty game balls that different than the
regular game balls, like a different color.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
I don't know. I've never gotten a petty game ball.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
So how does that one hit you that the Steelers
decided to reward Russ. So I understand the context that hey,
they're teammates and they love each other, their lovey dovey
and all that stuff, and they're fighting the machine. But
on this one, it's the Steelers whoever decided this is
what we're gonna do. We're gonna give Russ a game

(11:33):
ball here even though he did not play in the game.
That is akin to the honey wagon tipping over poop
on wheels, if you will poop on wheels. And Mike
Tomlin does not strike me as participation trophy coach guy.
So this I assume this came from somebody else, but

(11:54):
he had to sign off on it. I would think
now here we are, if Russell Wilson wanted any game ball,
then he should have played in the game. Oh he
couldn't play. Russ did not get the job done in Denver.
And this idea that somehow the Broncos were the bad
guy and that Russ was the good guy, Like, where
did that come from? Like what kind of alternative reality

(12:17):
is that the Broncos contacted the Better Business Bureau and
they're like, hey, there were some false claims made in Seattle.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Here and what's going on?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
And Wilson last seas I understand like low information fans.
There are a lot of dumb fans out there.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
There's a lot of morons that are, you know, meatheads,
football fans that think.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Well, what about the stants?

Speaker 1 (12:38):
What about the st okay, tell me you don't know
football without telling me you don't know football. The Broncos
last year Russell Wilson had some misleading numbers, and so
idiot fans amongst us, they're hiding amongst.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Us, they're like, oh man, he was was good.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Okay, but the Broncos had the twenty fourth ranked passing
offense with Russell Wilson starting the majority of the games
in Denver. So if you're twenty fourth out of thirty
two teams, how is that particularly good? I mean maybe
for you have low standards, but not for me, and
clearly not for the Broncos. I don't know any NFL
team if Ross was doing a good job, I don't
care how petty you think certain people are. You're not

(13:17):
gonna pay eighty five million dollars for the guy not
to play for you. If he's getting the job done
even a little bit. That should be a dead way,
dead the way, not exactly working out, not exactly working out.

Speaker 2 (13:30):

Come in the beginning of another hour of the Ben
Malor Show. We are in the air everywhere, bedfellows, as
we are your chat central coast, coast, border, the border
and beyond on the vast and massively powerful microphones of

(15:10):

Speaker 3 (15:18):
To your heart.

We're broadcasting live from the tyrack dot com studios. Tyract
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection over ten thousand recommended
in stars. Our guy, the mad clown that used to
call the show. He did some great show art back

(15:39):
in the day, likes that number. Tyract dot com the
way tire buying show be so our lead this hour
from Jerry's World. After a great opening act, a dominating
win over the Cleveland football team, Dallas return home big
favorites and then proceeded to crumble on home turf.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Now, if you were watching this game. You heard Tom.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Brady in the broadcast booth an old Tom, but maybe
you were not watching it. I did not watch too
much of this game. There was no reason to because
Alvin Camara, he was rumbling and stunnlers like he was
punching guys at a casino in Vegas. Four touchdowns, one
hundred and fifteen yards on the ground, and the visiting

(16:27):
Saints molly wopped the home standing Cowboys forty four to
nineteen in a game that wasn't even really all that close.
A domination situation two weeks in a row does one
thing to take down the Carolina Panthers that are a
powder puff football team. But these are the Dallas Cowboys now.

(16:48):
Jerry Jones was angry, Hey, he was angry Era after
the game, tried to bite his tongue. Tried to try
to spend this as much as you can, Jones telling
reporters after the loss on Sunday, Jerry Jones said that
it was extraordinarily disappointing. He added that we will correct this,
we will improve, Okay, so I guess they're not gonna

(17:10):
lose by more than forty four to nineteen in the
next gime so they're going to improve on that. But
that is the money quote. Let us discuss the question.
Jerry Jones says, the Cowboys loss is quote extraordinarily disappointing
close quote, So who gets the majority of the blame
on this? I've got the dessert topping, bathroom mirror, and

(17:34):
section eight ninety two. In section eight ninety two, we'll
combine all these things.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Together and we are going to.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Make a cotton candy because cotton candy would have provided
more resistance than the Dallas Cowboys defense in this game.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
And that is where we start.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
This is on the shoulders of Mica Parsons and the defense.
It's not my opinion, it is a fact. This is
the epitome of a team that was not ready to
play this set. Well, that's on McCarthy also, but specifically
the defense, all right, and Parsons in this game, when
when it mattered, when the game was in the bounds,

(18:15):
did not make impact plays. Michael Parsons was essentially ghosting
the game and the Saints did what they wanted. Dallas
defensively was disemboweled in this game.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
And how bad was it. I'll tell you how bad
it was.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Alvin Kamara and friends scored touchdowns on their first six
offensive possessions. Touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Now, Derek Carr, what's the book on Derek Carr?

Speaker 1 (18:44):
You get pressure on this guy and he starts sweating
like he's in a sauna, and it's a disaster.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
He's like a pig at a.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Traditional Hawaiian luau with pressure rotating around. No pineapple though, Well,
when you don't get him pressure, apparently he's all right.
He was only hit one time. He was sacked one
time by the Dallas defense. Inexcusable, inexcusable performance the Dallas defense.

(19:14):
They were a dessert topping in this game. They were
whipped cream is what they were for the Saints, and
they feasted on It's also a referendum. We were praising
Mike Zimmer, the former Viking coach who's now the defensive
googer there in Dallas. And life comes at you fast.
You look great one week, and then you come back
and it looks like you've never practiced together. Now are

(19:34):
the Saints the real deal? Back to back blowout wins
to begin the season, Derek carrz your MVP after two
weeks of the NFL regular season. No, I'm not ready
to eat that gumbo. You can have that gumbo. I'm
not ready to have that gumball.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
I'm not there. I'm not sold. I need to see more.
I'm not sold.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
The Panthers win to me is meaningless. That's a powder
puff football team. That's not a professional football team. They're
a joke and their quarterbacks as a disaster. And it's
yet to be determined what the Cowboys are, all right,
what are the twenty twenty four vintage of the Dallas
Cowboys in Jera's world? We don't know yet, all right,
Now turn to the page. So Dak Prescott, he had

(20:13):
a lot to say after the game. Dak Prescott said
that the Cowboys will learn from the loss. That they're
going to learn from the loss. So what exactly is
the lesson? What is the lesson for the Dallas Cowboys
to learn? Well, the obvious one is don't suck at
a time you cannot suck. But maybe like take every
opponent seriously. Also a reminder, I think the biggest reminder here,

(20:38):
and the Cowboys fall for this quite a bit, is
avoid the bathroom mirror at all costs. Like Dallas was
getting toasted by many of the pundits for that win
over a substandard Cleveland Browns team, and so they dominated.
It was the big game on Fox last week, and
Tom Brady's gonna call mostly Cowboy games because they get

(21:00):
the ratings. So there's Brady back in the broadcast booth,
and the first game, everything went wonderfully and all that,
and we suspect that the Cowboys as a whole were
guilty of shamelessly staring at their own reflection in the
mirror after they were basking in the glow of that
win last week, and they did not have the laser

(21:21):
like focus because it's one thing to lose, but you
don't get your doors blown off the way the Cowboys
did if you're putting an honest effort in.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
I truly believe that.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
I think I say the same thing about the Rams
the way they played against the Cardinals. If you're putting
effort in. The teams are not separated by that much.
The worst than the top teams in the NFL are
not separated by that much. You do not get blown
out if you're putting an honest effort out there. That's
just the reality of the situation. That's my belief, and
so no attention to detail. The other problem in going

(21:51):
back to what Jerry Jones said, Jerry's hitched his wagon
to the core of this Dallas team. He's fully invested,
He's all in. Jerri's essentially said that for the rest
of his life, Dak Prescott's going to be the quarterback,
and Dak was drinking out of a fire hose. Also

(22:13):
unable the Cowboys to keep up. And when the defense
has breakdowns, the offense has to pick up the slack,
and they were unable to do that as well. All Right,
final point, the story of all the games, the one
that blew me away the most, I would say would
be the Colt's lack of execution defensively against the Packers.

(22:40):
Because we all know that Malik Willis can't play quarterback
at a high level in the NFL. We know that,
and we knew that going into that game. The game
plan for Green Bay, like even if you have a
rudimentary knowledge of football, you knew going in that they
were going to play hide the quarterback. The Packers act

(23:00):
with the floor was going to be.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run,
run forrest run was going to be the offense.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
And for that performance by the Indianapolis defense, Okay, that
is a violation of the United States Code Title ten,
Section eight ninety two, Article ninety two. Dereliction of duties.
That is a dereliction of duties and one of the
most egregious that I have seen. These cats willfully refuse

(23:33):
to perform their duties. I don't know what else they
had going on. Maybe they had too many cheese curds
before the game, But my god, every man, woman and
child knew the way the Packers are going to approach
this game.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
They could not win.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
If Malie Willis had to throw the ball the Colts
had jumped out to a leade, they would have been
in a whole lot of trouble. And the Colts coaching
staff supposedly had a game plan that was to stop
the run, and they got redded like chicken treaded barbecue chicken.
How bad was it? Green Bay somehow rushed for two

(24:07):
hundred and sixty one yards.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
That is not a mistake.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Two out of sixty one yards, the third most the
Colts have allowed since the team moved from Baltimore to
Indianapolis forty some years ago, including two hundred and thirty
seven of those yards in the first half. I mean
it was mostly the first The Packers picked up fourteen

(24:34):
first downs, fourteen before halftime, and the Colts managed just
fifteen plays overall in that time.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
This was an.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Atrocity for the Indianapolis Colts. The way they played there embarrassing.
And Josh Jacobs had one hundred and fifty one yards
rushing on thirty two carries. That's a throwback game to
like nineteen eighties there, and the Packers to have fourteen
first downs, I keep going back, fourteen first downs before

(25:07):
the Colts managed just fifteen plays overall.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
It's insane.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
And let's not forget Anthony Richardson who added not one,
not too but three interceptions. Now what was at the
end of the game, So you say, who cares about that.
We'll give him the pass on that, but two other interceptions.
And Richardson who completed just fifty percent of his passes
in this game. And despite a decent running game, and

(25:32):
Taylor had over one hundred yards, had a couple of
big runs there for the Indianapolis Colts. Despite that, still
nothing in the passing game from Anthony Richardson, who was just.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Blah, just blah all the way around.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific. Here
we go, It's Mallard.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
Here we are, There we go. Trail Comelo.

Speaker 8 (26:03):
Dulphins head coach Mike McDaniel said on Friday that the
team plans to bring in a quarterback to compete with
backup Skyla Thompson. However, Miami only has seven point one
million available in cap space. Ben, who do you think
that they should target?

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Well, they can futs around with the salary cap and
figure out how to get more money. And I say,
you know what they need, Matthew Stafford is what they need.
They can have Matthew Stafford, call the Rams up, trade
some draft picks. Take Matthew Stafford. Knock yourself out, have
a field day.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Why not? That's the guy right there, Matthew Stafford. Next.

Speaker 8 (26:36):
Over the weekend, White Sox GM Chris Getz said, We're
not gonna be working heavy in free agency. We've got
guys on the field right now who need to improve
their game. Ben, what should White Sox fans take away
from these comments that.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
They are going to suck again next season, right that
the uh if, if you really cared, if you own
the White Sox, you're Jerry ryanstor if you say, okay,
this is embarrassing. And even if we're not gonna win
the Pennant next year, we're gonna go out and sign
some free agents and at least be a big league team.
Not an embarrassment, not a disgrace. But it sounds like

(27:09):
they're committed to tanking. That's what it sounds like to
me that the White Socks want to lose another one
hundred and fifteen games next year, one hundred and ten
