Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, what is going on? Welcome in happy Monday morning
to you.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Wow, our early morning is alive and kicking over here
as we dive headfirst into the Week seventeen NFL waters.
I guess Kawhi Leonard did score fifty five points for
the Clippers. You know, Big Ben would love to mention
that I'm imagining if he were on the airwaves today,
(00:25):
but he is not, So I'll tip my cap to
him and say, Kawhi shout out fifty five points. The
Clippers trying to climb back to five hundred.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Give them a month or two, maybe they'll see five hundred.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
But We're all about the ball over here, and I'm
gonna get to the militia. The militias, Hey man, The
militias lined up, and so we were going to power
through some entertaining callers here momentarily. But let me start
it off by just saying a couple of things. I
want to pay this off where there is a team
(01:00):
that I am happy, happy to bet against in Week eighteen,
and that would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now here's
the thing. They are facing the Carolina Panthers with the
division on the line. Right winner is in as bad
as Tampa has been. They've lost seven of the last
(01:23):
eight games. As bad as they've been, if they win
one game against Carolina, they are in. Tampa Bay is
hosting this game against Carolina. If Tampa wins, they win
the NFC South, they win their horrible division, they get
into the playoffs. They host a playoff game, which I
will rant about later on today, but keep it as simple.
(01:48):
As bad as Tampa has been, they still have a shot.
They control their playoff path. Have to win one home
game against Carolina.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
They're in.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Now Here's why I am so happy to bet against them.
I've already bet Carolina plus three. I've bet Carolina money line.
And the reasons are this, Tampa Bay. They are a
team that is just dead inside. Might go a little
bit too far. You know what the Tampa Bay really is.
(02:18):
Tampa Bay is a team with the weight of the
world on its shoulders. That's what's happening with Tampa Bay.
You could see it with Baker Mayfield on Sunday against
the Dolphins. They lost to the Dolphins. I love my Dolphins.
My Dolphins are a wreck this season. Okay, I said
this the other night. As bad as the Dolphins have
been think about their season. Right, They get off to
(02:41):
a hideous start. They were what one in Let me
get the record for you real fast. You'll only take
a second. They were one and six. The Dolphins were
one and six to start the season. Awful stinkage. Defined.
They go on, they beat a couple of bad teams.
You know, they beat the the Commanders, they beat the Saints,
(03:02):
they beat the Jets. You know, they won a couple
of games and their records a little bit more respectable.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Then they bench Tua, right, Tua's yeh as this guy.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
He doesn't give us the best chance to win. That's
what Mike McDaniel said. They go with the rookie Quinn Yewers.
They get rolled up on by the Bengals by twenty
four points last week. Just a disastrous season. Yeah, the
Dolphins have the same record as Tampa Bay after Week seventeen,
after Sunday, after the Dolphins beat Tampa Bay, same record.
(03:36):
As much of a greasefire of a season. The Dolphins
have had Benching their starting quarterback, same record as Tampa Bay.
And I'm just watching Tampa Bay and their season just
absolutely crater. And I'm watching Baker Mayfield and listen, it's
not just the physical toll. He took a couple of
(03:56):
big hits toward the end of that game on Sunday,
the loss to the Dolphins, but he's on the sideline
and you can just you can feel it's not just
the physical pain of getting knocked around. It's the emotional
pain of losing and losing and losing. There's a great
(04:17):
clip of Kevin Garnett when he was still playing in
the NBA. I love kg intensity to find love the guy.
But he was doing this interview and he's almost in
tears and he's like, I'm losing. I'm losing.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Like you can just feel how this is tearing him up.
And that's the deal.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
If you look at these NFL games, think about a
team like Tampa. So they've been banged up quite a bit,
suffered a lot of injuries. They started off great. They
had a great start to the season. At the best stage.
Let's see, they were five and one. They started off
They're like the anti Dolphins. Dolphins started off one and six.
(04:58):
Tampa started off five and one, and then the season
took a turn man after the bye week. Week ten,
they lose at home to the Patriots. They lose on
the road to the Bills. They get smacked around by
the Rams. That was ugly, and then it was just losing, losing, losing, losing.
They've lost seven of eight. And here's the deal. It's like,
(05:20):
you put so much into trying to win a game.
You prepare all week, you get your body right, you
get mind right, it's all right, let's go.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Let's get on the winning track. Loss.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Do the same thing the next week. Loss, the same thing,
the next week.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Loss.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
It's just mounting and that emotional stress, that weight is
just weighing on them. You can feel it, right. It'd
be like, you know how you hit like the squat rack.
I'm not a big squat rack guy, you know, but
you know what it feels like. You put the you know,
the bar behind you, you put the weights on the side,
(06:00):
you go down, you do your squats right. It's as
if Tampa Bay is walking around with the squat bar
like the back of their shoulders, back of their neck,
and it's never leaving every step they take. They're just
walking with the squat bar behind. They're walking with all
(06:21):
the squat weight on the squat bar. Right. That's how
they feel it's like their legs are buckling. They can't
take this physical emotional burden of losing and losing and losing.
And you know who hasn't had that? Carolina? Carolina has
(06:44):
not had that. Carolina is a weird team. They're psychotic,
but they're like win loss. So that's what they've done.
Let's see since Week seven, this is their schedule win loss,
win loss, win loss win by loss. They had a
bye week in between win loss. Looks like they're scheduled
for a win. If this is like, if this arithmetic
(07:06):
plays itself out, they're due for a win. But they
have not had this seven out of eight losing streak.
This stress that is just collecting and oh man, I
just I am happy to fade Tampa Bay. This is
one of these deals where you can get you can
get football deep, and you could be like, well, you know,
(07:28):
like Tampa Bay has this matchup, and well, these receivers
against these Carolina quarterbacks and all this stuff, all this
I love football. You can break it down football wise.
I would not break it down football wise. This to
me is Tampa Bay has just reached a breaking point
and they have been weighed down for so long by
(07:50):
so much losing. I don't think they can get out
from under it, even though they're at home, even though
they're facing Carolina, who's far from a juggernaut. Even though
Carolina be like, yeah, we're sucky Carolina today, I don't know.
It's either good Carolina, Great Carolina, or SUCKI Carolina. We
don't know which team's gonna show up. You could lay,
wait what if SUCKI Carolina shows up.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I don't care.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
I think Tampa's gonna suck worse. That's what I think.
I'm happy to fade Tampa I already have. We'll see
if that's the winning side. But Coop, I might put
sixteen fan confidence points on Carolina this week, just as
a straight Tampa fade man. They are a broken, cratering
team that I'll tell you. I'll get a little personal
(08:32):
for a second. Okay, we'll get to the calls. When
I was married, it was it was very stressful, like
we got divorced for a reason, and like, listen, I'm
not putting all this on my ex. I certainly had
fall I made a ton of mistakes myself. But when
we split up and we went our separate ways, I
(08:56):
didn't realize like I felt this like rests all throughout
my body. I felt this stress in my chest, you know.
And then we went our separate ways. And it's slowly
like a couple of days ago, by a couple more days,
a couple more days, a couple of weeks, and it's
like it felt like someone that was standing on me
(09:17):
was no longer standing on me, you know what I mean.
It was just kind of like, oh my gosh, there
was it was like the Gregorian chant or the Hallelujah.
It was that Oh it was beauty. It's like, oh wow,
I can breathe. It's like Tampa feels how I felt before.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
The split, right Like they feel more like the emotional
toll of the caging. I'm losing. It's killing them.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
They are near their their sports deathbed. They're near their
twenty twenty five NFL season deathbed, and it's not gonna
take much to just kick them off the edge. I
think Carolina is going to do it, man, I do.
I think Carolina is going to win the division. I
just think Tampa they're just a dead team walking now.
(10:10):
Watch them win by seventeen or didn't put everything together
and go ballistic. But I don't think.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
I don't see it.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
I'm betting against them, firmly betting against them. All right,
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox is your number.
Let me get out to the militia here. First up,
we were talking bills. Let me go to Paul. Paul's
in North Carolina. I believe Paul. You're on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Hey, Brian, good evening man. Hey listen, I'm gonna poke. Okay,
so I'm in North Carolina about him. Be born and
raised in Buffalo. I've been diehard Bill Sans since day one.
I'm forty five years old. I'm going to poke anybody
in the eye that suggests that going for two today
was the wrong call. And let me let me just
let me explain why pol was on there. Buffo was
(10:51):
on their third string kicker. We signed this guy last week.
If you're a kicker available in week sixteen, there's a
reason he already missed two pats in two weeks. And
here's the thing that Pat extends the game in overtime.
And if you extend the game into overtime, what would
you have to have Josh Allen to make a play.
So it's like let's just scrap all the bs. We're
(11:13):
gonna make Josh Allen on the two yard line one
player to win the game. And it was a wide
open receiver and he messed up. That doesn't make it
the wrong call. That's the poor execution and you and
you put it in out there. The lack of clutch
gene is a beautiful synopsis of this franchise entire history.
But that was the right call and he should do
it ninety nine times out of ninety nine, like that's
(11:34):
what should have happened. So it's just Josh Allen made
a terrible play.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
That's really what it is. Man, No, I respect it, Paul.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I'm glad you can see it and just cut to
the chase and say it because that's the truth.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
No doubt about it. Good call, man. Good to catch
up with you there he is, Paul.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah, And man, it hurts to say that, right, Like, listen,
the Vikings they lacked the clutch gene if you just
look at their franchise history. Good lord man, it's I
don't any Vikings fans mad or put him in a
bad mood. But it's just one thing after another. It's
you know, Gary Anderson misses a kick. How does he
miss a kick? He hasn't missed a kick all year.
He's gonna miss a kick? Really against the Falcons. We
(12:11):
got a trip to the super Bowl on the line.
It's Farve's he's thrown. Why do you even pottender a
pass right and throws laid across the middle. They had
the Saints, they're going to the super Bowl again until
they didn't have the clutch. Gen, I don't know what
it is. It's weird time and time again. Bill's the
same thing, dude. You could go on and it's uh,
(12:31):
it's Scott Norwood missing the Super Bowl twenty five kick.
It's thirteen seconds, got the lead against the Chiefs. It's
what you saw on Sunday. Josh Allen has a wide
open receiver. The pass isn't even close, not even close.
It's it's just wild man. But time and time again,
the lack of the clutch. Jen, it's it's a real thing.
(12:51):
All right, Let's fit in one more here real fast,
and we'll get to the others on the other side.
Let me go to I'm curious about this. I five Brian,
he's in Oregon. Let's talk some Seahawks. Shall we what's
going on, Brian? You're on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Hey, Hey, thanks for taking my call. What's up, Brian?
I do call in. I'm good Man. I used to
call in back in the day and we used to
talk Blazers. I used to call him with takes. Yeah,
I don't know if if you remember me. I know
you got a lot of people calling in. But so
I would be Rember.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
What would I say? Would I make fun of? Who
did I always make fun of?
Speaker 5 (13:23):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Gosh, what was it?
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Derek Jones Junior. All he does is dunk. It's all.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
I called him, Derek Dunks Junior. But I don't know
if we talked about him or someone else.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
Probably h Yeah, Derek Dunks. Yeah, I remember that. But
but yeah, I would be remiss if I didn't just
point out the obvious. Who does have the clutch team
mister Slam and Sammy d aka Sam Darnold.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Oh yeah, oh man?
Speaker 4 (13:49):
All right? So what what he needs to do? Uh
him being Josh Allen is give him a call because
he just showed us. You know, I'm Diehards Hawks fan,
I've been fan forever, and what he did the other night, Yeah,
there was some fluky things going on. I'll admit that.
You know, I don't think I've ever seen that type
of two point conversion, but you know, hey, it happened.
(14:12):
And but it's when it came down to it, we
went for two, just like mcdermick did. But you know,
we had our our guy say, you know what I'm
gonna put. I'm gonna put this into the ball into
his hands. Yeah, he throws some ugly pick, you know,
but you live with the pick, you do, because I
got a stat for people out there, and Rams fans
aren't gonna like this. This is just the facts in
(14:33):
his last thirty nine starts with four teams. Mister Sam
Darnold is thirty and nine and anybody wants to fact
check me on that can do it.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
That's just he's he knows how to win, you know.
I know you didn't see that at the end of
the year last year with the vikings. I know That's
why I gave people pause to include, uh, you know,
our new our coach a couple of years now that
we had coming in, you know, with Mike McDonald. But
he saw that he had the ability to win. And
now you're seeing it come to fruition, man, I mean
(15:09):
there was like everybody knew that he was going to
go for two and he hit the wide open guy
right right.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
And Josh Allen's great, man. I'm not trying to say
that Jock Donald's not great. But if you want to
just have it come down see the who has the
clutch gene? I mean that that's clutch. Is what Sam
Darl did and then of course gets in and you
know what everybody else did supporting cast for the Hawks.
But one other thing, if you allow me to say it, man,
(15:41):
is if you don't believe in momentum, just don't watch him. MLB.
The people or the teams that get hot are the
ones that usually get to the World Series. And I
don't remember the year. I'm a huge Mariners stan h.
Last year was a ton of momentum, right, and we
played well and it's unfortunate what happened that we couldn't
(16:03):
get past, you know, there at the end to get
you know, to get to the World Chairs. But we
got close, and I think we'll be back. But the
Rockies and I don't remember how many years ago that was.
I want to say it was Clint Hurtle was their coach,
their skipper at the time. They got hot and like
win like I don't even know, they won like almost
(16:23):
twenty games in a row something like that. They made
it to a little serious. So I mean, hey, mister
big mahler ill, I'm all about your takes and stuff
and how on at the moon man, but that is
that's just a bad take.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Yeah, no, I big.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Your comments off the air man, but yeah, I get you.
Catch it up and just take them.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
A call to night, all right, man, Yeah, good stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
There is I five Brian, Okay, a couple of things. Yeah,
if we're talking baseball, I'll give you one example. It's
I'm glad he went down this road with momentum. My Cardinals.
Now I get the years mixed up. It was either
six or twenty eleven. I'm not sure. Like it's sorry,
but uh, they sucked. Like the Cardinals were an average
(17:00):
baseball team. They're right around five hundred. Somehow they got
into the playoffs and like there was a squirrel that
ran by home plate while the game's going on. Yeah,
and it just it turned into like this good luck
charm and they they rattled off all these wins. They
got red hot in the playoffs. They ended up winning
the World Series. This team that's barely above five hundred,
(17:22):
and they called it the rally squirrel. They had this
freaking squirrel like on their championship rings, you know, like
they just got yeah, they got hot, and it was
this whole thing. But yeah, it can happen, like momentum
is a real thing. It's not just made up. And
like Looney always calls it fairy dust, it's not a
(17:43):
fake things. It's real. It can happen, like you can
have it and then you lose it, just like a lead,
just like a run. Right, just because you lost the
lead doesn't mean you never had the lead.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
The same thing with momentum. But the thing with Darnold
lists here's the thing. I'm not convinced.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Okay, like what he did against the Rams, I give
him props the second time. The first time, he threw
four interceptions all right on the road, and they still
had a chance to win the game. They had a
chance to kick a long field goal, didn't work out.
They lost by two points.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
He threw four picks, all right.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
So I don't want to I don't want to make
it sound like, hey, Donald, you know at home against
the Rams, he played great down the stretch. He had
the clutch touchdown pass, the AJ barner, he had the
clutch two point conversion to win the game right in overtime.
So he's here, He's arrived, mister icewater in his vain,
(18:44):
Sam Darnold, I'm not convinced where they are yet, and
I still think back to last year. I still think
back to this season. As I mentioned on the road
against the Rams, four interceptions. He was bad, he was bad,
and they still had a chance to win the game.
I just look, man, last season. It put such a
stain on a brilliant season. You could play this game
(19:07):
last year with the.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Vikings, they won fourteen games.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Thirteen or fourteen, I'm not you know, but they won.
I can't do the math at the top of my head.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Thirteen. It had to be fourteen, right.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Because it came down to the week eighteen winner take all.
So they had to have the same record as the Lions.
So like fourteen and three.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
That's insane. What a record you think He had some
clutch moments with the Vikings.
Speaker 6 (19:32):
He did.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
He had some great performances until the end of the season,
until it mattered the most and in Week eighteen against
the Lions, he was freaking terrible. I'll never forget wide
open receivers in the back of the end zone that
can't hit them. Next week against the Rams in the
playoff game, terrible, awful, holding onto the ball way too long,
(19:56):
taking sack after sack after sack. He was bad, bad,
And so listen, I can't wait for next week because
I think Sam Donald has a great, great chance to
head into Levi Stadium face a Niners team with a
non existent pass rush, a team that just got carved
(20:18):
up by Caleb Williams and the Bears. They gave up
thirty eight points, They had no resistance all night long.
It is a great opportunity for Sam Darnald. So I
think he's got a fighting chance to get the one seed,
go into it an opposing stadium, play much better, and
(20:39):
they're gonna be people that are like, oh, hey, Sam Donald, right, well,
he just he beat a team with no pass rush,
is what happened, right, But I just I don't buy that,
facing like real pass rushes, facing some real defenses, that
he's the guy that you can count on. And look,
their running game is fantastic on Sunday against Carolina, Zach
(21:00):
Charbonnay did his thing. That running game has not been
very good throughout the season. So you're telling me, come
playoff time, there's a team that just shuts down the
run and it's all on Donald to generate points and
you trust him all throughout the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
I do not do.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
I'll put it this way. This is the fairest way
I can say it. When you get a reputation, you
have to go above and beyond for people to change
their view of you. Okay, that's just the way it is.
If you have a reputation for being cheap, you're gonna
have to pick up the check time and time and time.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
You gonna have to pick up a big check. And
then people might be like, what's got into Brian Man,
what's right?
Speaker 2 (21:43):
They still haven't bought in. They're still beholden to what
they know most. And that's the way it works in sports.
And so for Sam Darnald to fizzle the way that
he did in Week eighteen last season and in the
wild card round against the Rams, he hasn't been able
to do anything since then. The stakes haven't been high
(22:03):
enough for him to do something to change that perception
and to change his reputation. So it's gonna take next week,
Week eighteen, on the road against San Francisco. Great performance
by him, gets it done, slays the dragon, exercises the deem,
all that stuff, and then playoff time, he's got to
(22:23):
do it, and he's got to do it again, and
he's got.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
To do it again, and then maybe people might be like,
you know what this is, Sam darnold guy? You know,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Maybe he's got the goods. It's gonna take that, but
he hasn't gotten there yet. And until he does, I
can't buy it. I can't buy it. But he's got
a real shot next week that Niners pass Rushes. It's
just nowhere to be found, nowhere to be fine. All right,
I'm gonna stop jibber jabberin. Let me get to the
militia right around the corner. And also a very very
(22:53):
quick take. Unbelievable. These two teams put on an epic performance,
and it is amazing just how low these teams sunk
just one season prior. I'll tell you about that. I'm
Prian though in for Big Ben Malor. Keep it locked

Play of the day.
Speaker 8 (24:27):
The bills will either fail on a two point conversion
of the Eagles will win thirteen to twelve, or the
Bills will convert to two points and the Bills will
win fourteen to thirteen.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Allen puts a man in motion. Allen looks, he's back,
he's firing, and it's incomplete thing.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
Egleses Thegleo's win.
Speaker 8 (24:49):
Now there's five stuconds on the clock, but the Eagles
are gonna win.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
He threw a pass for Shakir and it wasn't even close.
That's good.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah, compliments of Eagles Radio Network, Meryl Reese doing this thing.
You know, it's funny, Coop. I had a flashback to
you believe it or not hearing that clip. You know
how you recreated the Great Wall of DC doing your
John Wall shout out right there.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Your play by play chops were really good.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
I wanted to be like the make believe color commentator
after Meryl Reese explained that, and it's my turn to
kind of like paint the picture.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Of what just happened.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
And Meryl Reese is like, I wasn't even close that.
It's like my turn, you know what I mean. It's like,
oh my gosh, what a pathetic throat. What the hell
this is the Ragning MVP.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
The guy was wide over.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
What what was that? That was hideous? We'll take it. Hey,
we'll take e A G L E S Eagles. Let's go, baby.
Speaker 9 (25:43):
But I wish we had the call from the from
the bill side. That would have been interesting to hear.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Oh man, we don't have that.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
No, Oh, that's a missed opportunity, right, we got to
find that.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
That's I love. I love the dual calls, you know,
because what do you say, say you're the hometown call.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
You're supposed to you know, you get the pom poms
out and the whole thing, right, that's how you're supposed
to sound.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
But you gotta be honest at the same time, you know, like.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
How do you be positive and honest when Josh Allen
misses a throw that badly?
Speaker 1 (26:17):
How do you even ponder passing? I know, how do
you even ponder a pass that bad?
Speaker 3 (26:23):
You know?
Speaker 2 (26:23):
That's what was happening right there with Josh Allen. My goodness,
that was a rough one man, rough rough rough. All right,
let's get out to the phone. Let me do this.
It'll only take mm. I was gonna say it's only
gonna take thirty seconds. But this is me. We're talking
about I think I can. I can get it done
in one minute flat, one minute flat tops. Okay, So
(26:45):
the Sunday night game was an instant classic. Bears Niners.
Niners beat them forty two to thirty eight, got a
last second stop at the end of the game, and
they want it. Watching that game and I'm like, holy cow,
you know, it's crazy about the Bears and the Niners.
Do you realize this both teams in that game they
(27:08):
were eleven and four, and the Niners they've got to show.
They're hosting the Seahawks to win the NFC West and
to be the number one seed in the NFC playoffs.
Do you realize that's right? You realize that both the
Bears and the forty nine Ers were last place teams
(27:31):
just last season.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Last season, both.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Were in the cellar of their respective divisions, and now
look at them. Bears already clinched the NFC North. The
Niners have a chance to clinch the NFC West and
be the one seed. They were dead last in that
same division just one season ago. The Bears, They've been
(27:54):
dead last in the NFC North each of the last
three years, and here they are. They're atop the division.
That's what's so beautiful about the NFL. Like you'll hear,
I like baseball. I've fallen out of love with baseball,
if I'm being honest with you. But I have a
strong liking for bit. It's like I give it the
(28:15):
old you know, like you do the old college try.
You kind of do your arm like one of those.
I like baseball, you know, I love the playoffs. You
what what I gave up on baseball?
Speaker 1 (28:25):
You gave up. You're dating other people now. I like baseball.
They have hot dogs.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
See like we're all on the same page. We like baseball,
you know, but love is a different thing.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Yeah. Uh, I don't even know where I was going
with that. Playoffs. Playoffs, Oh yeah, yeah, thank you, Coop.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
The baseball fans like my guy Rob Parker will be like,
there's parody and I can't do my Rob. There's I
can't do a Rob. But it'd be like, there's parody
in baseball, and it's like, oh yeah, really, show tell
me the Bears and the forty nine ers of baseball.
Who are these last place teams that are all of
a sudden duking it out for like the one seed
(29:10):
who are they Where are they? When does that happen? Exactly?
Maybe you can point to a team or two, But bro,
look at the standings. I could pull up the standings
right now and we could play a little game of
how good are the chances of this team rebounding from
dead last to first place in baseball? And I'm not
(29:31):
I don't mean to crack on baseball, but it's not
even close. Like the parody in the NFL is a
real thing. The parody in baseball isn't even freaking.
Speaker 9 (29:41):
Close, like the like the Angels being.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
That's right or worse or worse? Dude, look at the Bears.
Let me get the record out what the Bears works.
I don't want to be wrong on them.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
We'll see this is this is.
Speaker 9 (29:55):
I like that you're mentioning these two teams because the Bears,
I mean, you can almost just automatically point to Ben Johnson,
right right? Uh the forty nine ers, though maybe you
say that just last year was a weird down year,
you know.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Right right, yeah right, they were down they had I
could get it here too, it'd only take a second.
We got all kinds of facts on the fly. Here
here you go. Here are the Niners the the two
seasons prior.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Oh shoot, it's the wrong chart right here you go,
bear with me, bear with me, live on the flight.
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
They were first place in the previous two seasons, right,
so last year they were in last place. The previous
two seasons they won their division. So you're right, Coop,
it was just this odd, weird, you know, injury ravaged
team and they bottomed out and they were in last place.
But if what's interesting is if you look at the
(30:55):
records here, okay, if you look at the standings I'm
looking for a okay, here we go. Let's go back
to last year. On it is taking way more than
a minute, I apologize, But if you go back to
last year, the Niners their winning percentage was three point
fifty three, right, so they won about thirty five percent
(31:15):
of their games. The Bears were their winning percentage was
two ninety four. They didn't even win thirty percent of
their games at five and twelve. All right, let's play
a little game of MLB. Let's see who had a
winning percentage under thirty. Well, that would be the Colorado Rockies. Huh,
what do you think the chances are that the Rockies
(31:39):
they rebound from last place and they take down the
NL West.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
They leap frog not only the d Backs, not only
the Giants, but also the Padres and the Dodgers. They
go from worse to first. Yeah, I'm banking on that happening.
Get out of here, Like, dude, Coop, your Angels listen.
They were eighteen games under five hunt. Their winning percentage
was four forty four. They won over forty four percent
(32:05):
of their games. The Bears didn't even win thirty percent
of their games last season. The Angels have no chance
to win the AL.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
West next season. That's not gonna happen, man. But that
happens in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
It happens in the NFL, does not happen in baseball.
So it's funny how we look at parody and you
could be like, hey, we haven't had a repeat champ
until the Dodgers just did it. We didn't have one
for a long time. We've had one in the NFL.
That's what Baseball guy likes to point to. It's like, Bro,
that's not where parody begins and ends. Who's your Bears,
(32:44):
who's your Niners?
Speaker 1 (32:46):
They're winning like.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Thirty five percent, thirty percent of their games one season
and their division winners the next. That doesn't happen in baseball.
Speaker 9 (32:54):
So you know this is this is coming from from
AI and assist from AI. So you know we have
to fact check it just to be sure. But you know,
I'm pretty confident this is correct.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (33:05):
The last team to go from worst to first in
Major League Baseball was the twenty fifteen to twenty sixteen
Boston Red Sox Wow, who finished last in the Al
East in twenty fifteen, then won the division the next
year in twenty sixteen. I want to see, you know what,
Let's go to twenty fifteen real quick, because I want
to see their record in their winning percentage.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Okay, their last place in twenty fifteen. Get this, coop.
They're six games under five hundred. They went seventy eight
and eighty four. Their winning percentage was four eighty one.
They won just over forty eight percent, almost half of
their games. Right, you're not even close to winning half
(33:47):
of your games. The Bears were five and twelve. They're
not close to five hundred like the Red Sox were
hovering around five hundred, and then they cranked it up
in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
And that's the last time. That's unbelievab. That was ten
years ago.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Yeah, so yeah, spare me on parody. Baseball guy. It's
not the same thing as it is in the NFL,
not even close. So I'm glad we dispelled that myth. Right,
we knocked that one right off the list. Yeah, that's uh.
I love baseball guy. Oh, there's parity in baseball. No, no,
(34:22):
not like the NFL, man, not like the NFL. It's
a completely different deal. There's a hard salary cap. Think
about that. There's no salary cap in baseball. Like, that's insanity,
just that alone, having a salary cap in football. All
of a sudden, Okay, you pay your quarterback huge money.
(34:43):
He was just off his rookie deal. Now we're paying
him huge money. And guess what, we got to cut
a bunch of corners. We gotta cut this guy, and
cut that guy and restructure this guy. We gotta get
rid of that guy. All of a sudden, your roster
isn't nearly as talented as it once was. That doesn't
happen in baseball. These teams like the Dodgers, are they
(35:04):
cutting guys they're looking to add. They're just adding guys,
they're like, we'll pay you in twenty forty five.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
It's fine.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
They're just adding and adding and they're not subtracting. You
have to subtract. In the NFL, there is a hard
salary cap. There is no salary cap in baseball. You
want to sit here and pretend that parody is even
like similar or the same.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
That is a sports take crime right there.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
To even suggest that parody in baseball is anything close
to parody in the NFL. It's not even remotely close, man,
not even close. All right, sorry, I killed the segment.
We'll get to the militia coming up. I probly I'm
not gonna tease anything. We're going straight to the calls.
My guy Poppy. You realize this guy Poppy, he like
(35:54):
a thief.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
In the night.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
He stole three hundred American dollars from me, That is right.
I was so overconfident in the Chiefs, who didn't even
smell a divisional crown. I know it looks like the
dumbest bed ever. I mean, they had won it nine
straight years. Call me crazy. I thought it was going
to be ten. Didn't work out, and I.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Gave Poppy looking back, horrible odds.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
But he's on hold. I want to hear what he
has to say. He's gonna do a victory lap. We'll
get to Poppy and the other members of the militia
right around the corner. No teases, no sports takes, no opinions,
just the militia that's.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
On the way.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
I'm Brian no In for Big Ben Malor. Keep it

my bad. I'm just programmed. I'm just a you know,
I'm a robot doing.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
This stuff over. Sorry, Sorry, different shift fill in all right.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
The crown is yours. I'll tell you what the crown.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Is Poppies as well, because Poppy he took three hundred
American dollars off me. You believe that, by the way,
real fast, before Poppy comes on and does his victory lap.
I gave Poppy horrible odds. Looking back, I don't know
what I was thinking. I was so overconfident. I'm like,
all right, here's the deal, Poppy. If the Chiefs win
the division, you owe me one hundred dollars. If anybody
(37:54):
else wins the division, you get three hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
That's a terrible suggestion me.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
I should have because the Broncos were a little better
than three to one and the Chargers were a little
better than three to one to win the division. The
Raiders were like eleven to one or something crazy. I
gave him all three teams at three to one. That's
a terrible job by me. Bad job by me. He
probably would have taken the Chargers and he would have
(38:21):
been wrong and the bet would have been wiped out.
But me, being the overconfident gas bag, that I am.
I'll give you the other three for plus three hundred. Poppy,
that's a terrible job by me. The chances are you
might have picked the wrong AFC West team and I
would have gotten out. It would have been a wash,
nobody would have won anything. But in any event, Poppy
(38:42):
is with us. What's going on, Poppy? You're on Fox
Sports Radio?
Speaker 5 (38:45):
Hi, Brian Offers. I want to say Mary Christmas and
happy do you to you and and everyone here in
the Mountain Militia and everyone to listening. And I want
to say a great show on the Sunday kickoff, Brian, Oh,
you know, a great show on maybe after you know
with the predictions that I'm ready to next season for
you to have me part of your squad and gave
(39:07):
me sports betting picked because I'm onto something. Uh you know,
I know what I'm saying. I have a momentum and
and the momentum is coming my way. And read you
let me know and I'll be there Sunday morning. Because
people people love hearing Poppy's picks. People love it right
here in the Mala Militia in the picks, and I
(39:28):
just wanted to say I did say the Broncos. Even
Coop was here. I said that I liked the Broncos
when you okay, so you.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
Might have gotten it right, Okay, take it back? Sure?
Speaker 4 (39:37):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (39:38):
And if you guys don't haven't heard of you, listen
back on the podcast when Briano was on there. Just
you won't say, hey, I'm live. But I wanted to
talk real quick about Briano about you were talking about
the Patriots, Yeah, and you know how you like them
and stuff like that. And I got one thing to
say for you. Momentum does exist. Remember when the week fifteen,
the Buffalo Bills were I believe twenty four to seven
(40:01):
of my memory.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Oh yeah, you're right, yeah, you're right, yeah on that one.
Speaker 5 (40:05):
And I just want to say, look, the Bill did
lose today. It's okay, but please guys, please put some
respect on Josh Allen, the MVP. Look when I got
a quick.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Story, real quick, hold on Poppy.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
We're up against it, man, like we got we got
ten seconds, like you know, we got ten American seconds.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
So I'm sorry about that. But you know what, that's
a good segue.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
It's a very misleading stat that is denying props for
one team.
