with the Rams.

We'll talk about that also.

Speaker 1 (00:19):

camp struggles of rookie quarterback Ty Simpson and staying in

roasted like a butterball Thanksgiving turkey. As Herbert starred this

We're here all night, every night, and our lead this
hour from NFL training camp. Date line La LA Land
date line La La Land. A long standing rumor, A
long standing rumor has taken a new plot twist. The
La Rams have officially logged a quote tryout for retired

(03:13):
defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Now, if you didn't see.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
This, perhaps not a little birdie was chirping that this
is not your standard run of the mill free agent
tryout because obviously this guy's a Hall of Famer, not
to be put in the Hall of Fame yet, but
he will be there, and was simply Aaron Donald getting

(03:38):
some football work in at the Ram facility. We are
told that Donald, who's in his mid thirties now, he
wanted to participate in some football drills and he wanted
to wear a helmet, and that is taboo. It's taboo
unless you have the proper approval. He retired in March

(03:58):
of twenty twenty four, ten year year run with the Rams,
eight first team All Pro. Remember, the Pro Bowl doesn't matter.
They play tic tac toe with the Pro Bowl. The
thing that matters is first team All Pro. That means
you're good, and he's good. Here's Sean McVeigh. I'm told
he is still the coach of the Rams, much duardess
May you were hoping you'd go off a new TV.
Here is Sean McVay commenting on the latest developments with

(04:21):
Aaron Donald.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
The NFL Transaction Wire had Aaron Donald working out with
the Rams today, which.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I guess had come across as a tryout. It did
come across that tryout that we've ever had. Okay, do
you think he could make the team? I think he
could make the Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
That was honestly our way of being able to get
a workout with him within the you know, parameters of
of what's necessary.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
But give Smith said it's the greatest tryout he's ever had.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
All right, what media are those pr people for the
Rams or those reporters they really like that? The man,
Sean mcmay very funny, who knew? All right, So that
is a good jumping off point. Let us discuss the
question what is the word? What is the word for
Aaron Donald's free agent try out with the Rams. I've

(05:09):
got Picasso, Original AI and Golden Retriever, and we'll combine
all of these things together and we are.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Going to go shooting. We're going to shoot. The breeze
is what we're going to do. We're gonna shoot the breeze.
So number one number stop. My word is perfunctory. That
is my word. What is the word.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
It's perfunctory as in the bureaucracy of football, the NFL's
red tape tango is what This is the perfunctory.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
That's the word.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
It's a show up. Well, you're not allowed to put
on a helmet because we have lawyers. It's a liability,
so you can't do that. So uh yes, sign, I'm
gonna clippard. Here's a pen sign and an initial three times,
initial three times, and then sign at the very bottom there, okay,
and then jog around the cones.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Okay, it sounds good.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
And then you're legally allowed to wear a ram helmet
without Roger Goodell sending the Gestapo in with a bunch
of cease and assist letters and all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
So call it what you want.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Donald as a permission slip and all that. He's not
technically in camp. He's camp adjacent Aaron Donald. It's token participation.
A Publo Picasso paint by numbers set a little appetizer
piecemeal set up here an appetizers sampler of the finger

(06:40):
foods available at training camp to Meanwhile, Donald also hired
an agent to get him some you know, some of
those no show media jobs where these meat heead athletes
get on television and radio and are terrible, but they
get paid because they used to play one of those jobs.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
I'd want one two of I was a pro athlete.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
It's great, just show up and they pay it for
sports cliches anyway, So Donald hired an agent to get
one of those jobs. And a couple of theories going on.
So the theory. One theory is that Aaron Donald is
gonna signed right after training camp. In fact, Sean McVay
has said that he said the arrow's pointing up and

(07:18):
that likely after training.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Camp that's when the decision will be made.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
There is a world in the multiverse where Aaron Donald
does not sign right away and is a little wishy
washy and then waits until the season plays out the
first part of the season, not wanting to play the
full season, and then ends up playing say half the
games or a little he can't play half because there's
an odd.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Number of games. But you get the point. You get
the point.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
So we could hide out at a halfway house doing
some bad television or radio and then.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Run off to the Rams mid season.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
So there's possibility that still plays out that all indications
are he's going to play. Whether he plays half the
year or almost half the year or the full year,
we will see.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
One thing we can agree on. He ain't into going.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
To training camp at the first exhibition game in the NFL,
not for the Rams, but the first exhibition game in Canton,
Ohio will be played later today, and so the let
the games begin, of course, a soft launch for the
NFL soft launch there.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Those exhibition games are a dime a dozen now.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Meanwhile, Page two, staying with Sean mcvay's team, there the
Rams quarterback Ty Simpson that was the number thirteen, number
thirteen overall pick in the twenty twenty six NFL draft
for reasons that no one seems to understand.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Well.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Some video clips of Ty Simpson went viral this week.
I don't know if you saw these or not, from
training camp, and it showed Ty Simpson, the former Alabama quarterback,
scrambling and then throwing a rap the limp incomplete past.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Now, that video.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Sparked a lot of trolling, a lot of trolling, which
is what you do, the only reason that social media
exists is to is to troll.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
And you know, people were saying, oh man, this is
bur this guy sucks and all that.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Well, Mike from Seattle sent me no less than six
email messages demanding that I discuss ty Simpson's poor performance
and said.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
If it had been a Seahawks, you would have led
the show with you. But you live the Seahawks. Are
you need to talk about it? Boom?

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Which a is not true because I don't really get
too worked up about on field performance in practice.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
I should be better for me, be easier for me
to sit here and rant and rave behind the bully
pulpit when somebody has a bad practice.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
I just don't really care.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
It's like getting upset over somebody playing bad in spring
training in baseball. I don't.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
It doesn't do anything.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
It does but to pacify, to pacify this guy, Mike,
I will address this situation, so the question.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Will frame it this way.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
How concerned should Sean McVay be with the LA Rams
training camp struggles of rookie quarterback Tye Simpson, so.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
On a malor scale of one to ten, level of.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Concern for the Rams based on Ty Simpson and his
apparently weak training camp, I am at a on a
scale of one to ten. I'm at a zero again,
scale of one to ten, absolute zero, Antarctic in February zero.
Anyone turning Ty Simpson throwing a wobbly pass like that's

(10:42):
some kind of State of the Union address. Just sit down,
take a time out, hydrate a little bit, take some
deep breasts. Here's a paper bag, and knock yourself out. Like, look,
we didn't care for the pick.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I know.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Mike wants me to be like a ram cheer, like
those people that were interviewing McVeigh that sounded like they
had their knee pads.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
On doing the Hawk Tour. But I'm not doing that.
I didn't like to pick.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
At the time, Simpson was clearly overdrafted. It was a
panic move by the Rams front office. And his ceiling
looks to be that of a game manager. And you
don't draft that guy in the first round. You can
get that guy in the fourth round or the fifth round.
You don't need to take that guy in the first round.
In the middle of the first round, and so he
had zero business being drafted where he was now.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Nevertheless, I get I.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Don't get worked up into a lather over practice reps, good.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Bad or ugly. A rookie looked like a rookie video
at eleven now.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Nevertheless, remember the gospel of the original AI that. Of course,
for you kids that don't know who this is, there
was a basketball player named Alan Iverson years ago. He's
pretty good, pretty good, and we talked about practice.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Not a gay, not a game. Not again.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I'm the star player we hear talking about practice. Ty
sims is a developmental quarterback. He is supposed to look
like a baby draft learning to walk in training camp.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
The Rams knew this.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
They drafted him to not play him, and Sean McVay
is not worried. He's cooking up spells in the sorcerer's
workshop right now, throwing the quarterback Ty Simpson into Hogwarts
with the playbook and Matthew Stafford, for better or worse,
is the straw that stirs the drink.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
We thought he wouldn't play last year because of his
bad back.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
He surprised us and went out and won the Most
Valuable Player of the Year award. And if it had
not been for a phantom two point conversion that was
illegally given to Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
The Rams would have won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Now without him, the offense of the Rams is water,
it is pond water. And so Ty Simpson, you can
send me every one of his crappy throws in training camp,
all the clips you want, and I get it.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
It's ammo for you.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
You want to attack, and you want to go on
the war path and all that. It just doesn't change
means the reality of the situation. This is essentially a
red shirt season for ty Simpson.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
If something goes.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Terribly wrong, he's going to play. The plan is for
him not to play, all right, final point to the
Electric Company. We go and right out of the tabloids,
quarterback Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert and his fiance singer Madison Beer.
Remember she's the woman that couldn't sell tickets on her
tour at the end there it was very embarrassing. So

(13:28):
Justin Herbert and his fiance Madison Beer went viral. Then
that went viral. What did they do well? It was
a fan video that showed the new It couple sharing
some affection. They were really enjoying each other's company. There
in the middle of Chargers training camp. Who goofed. I've

(13:51):
got to know. Now in the video clip, you have
the singer there, Madison Beer, Madison Beer stroking Justin.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Herbert's hair while they sat together on the field. Now
that PDA, Yeah, that's PDA.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
That sparked criticism, a lot of mocking of Justin Herbert,
suggesting that that public display is not a good sign
as the teams are supposed to be locked in getting
ready for the regular season. So the question, and keep
in mind, this thing went viral, it didn't get a
lot of mainstream play, didn't get a lot of mainstream play.

(14:26):
So the question why does Justin Herbert seemingly get the
kid glove media treatment when there are other quarterbacks with
his postseason resume who get roasted like a butterball turkey
on Thanksgiving? So this one's rather simple. The NFL media
elites protect Justin Herbert. You watch a Charger game on

(14:50):
Network TV, whether it's.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Aikman, Collinsworth, Romo the Drunk, I.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Guess he's not around anymore, Romo for now, any of
these guys, I guess Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
They have the mute button on with Tom's on because
he's terrible. But any of those guys, any of them.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
You know, they run interference, they give a little shoulder
rubs to Herbert, and they love them.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
They can't get enough of them.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
The other factor too, with the football media like Debate
TV or debate radio, the Chargers don't exactly get great clicks.
There's not a lot of engagement farming because they're not
really good clickbait. If you've ever been fishing and you've
had the wrong bait, the Chargers of the wrong bait. Nevertheless,
on this show, we believe in the fairness doctrine.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
We give no quarterbacks a pass. None.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
We are equal opportunity assassins of the quarterback position. And
justin Herbert just became the first quarterback I believe, and
you can correct.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Me if I'm wrong. I'll give out the number a
couple minutes.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
But we're pretty sure he's the first quarterback in any
of a history to get sacked by a public display
of affection.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
So that's that's what happened.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
And look we get that he's engaged, and that's exciting.
You know, it's one of those steps in life. You
think about the circle of life. You're born, you grow up,
you go to school. Uh, maybe you go to more
school college, maybe not your your first job.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
You know, you learn how to drive somewhere in there.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
You end up finding someone to spend your life with,
and then you end up maybe having a family, or
you don't have a family, but you live your life
and these things happen, and that's it. It's a circle
of life. And so this is one of those events
in the circle of life. And it's it's great how
he's at work. There are plenty of NFL players who
have dated hot people, hot.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Women, uh, married said hot women, famous women.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Uh. And I do not recall and again I might
be wrong with this. I don't recall any on field
canoodling during training camp. I don't remember this happening. It's
possible that Joe Namath before my time, Joe Namath had,
you know, a couple of hobbies out there at practice
for the yet I don't know. But the notes I have,

(17:03):
I mean, did Taylor Swift give Travis Kelcey a foot
massage at Chiefs training camp last year? Or I know
they're not together anymore, but was Cardi b rubbing Stefan
Digg's head mid practice?

Speaker 2 (17:15):
I don't have that in my notes. I don't so if.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
You haven't seen The Clipper, if you're blind, justin Herbert
looked like a Golden retriever getting his hair stroked at
the dog park.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
That's kind of what he looks like. I got a
laid back surfer dude.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
He has that persona the laid back surfer dude thing,
and just came across his tone deaf. I understand he's
already got allergies and he doesn't take his allergy medication.
The allergies flare up every postseason game he plays in.
And now you've got Jim Harbaugh kind.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Of okay with this.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
It would appear Jim Harbaugh the Chargers are turning their
training camp into a nineteen nineties rom com.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
And it just it's like, man, I know it was
only one moment in time and all that stuff, but
it's just like, whoa dude, what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Let's give the unseerious energy vibe is what he gave.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
But what do we know? What do we know?

He's hanging out right now with Sasquatch, and he told Sasquatch,

(21:19):
hold on, I gotta send this message in Sasquatch, what
I'm trying to talk to you?

Speaker 2 (21:23):
And No Straudena said, no, I'm trying to I'm trying
to attack Mallard.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
So leave me alone Sasquatch for a second. And Sasquatch
said okay. So No Stradinas writes in he says, I
really hope Aaron Donald makes a comeback, just so he
can also be disappointed when the Rams lose the division
to the Seahawks again. Well, you're gonna need more than
two points this year, no, studenus. You're gonna have to
get at least three points, like an extra field goal,

(21:47):
possibly a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
To beat the Rams. Now there you go.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Uh, that's it, Dan writes in he says Herbert justin
Herbert doing his best mallor PDA impression, just like his
days as a young lad, prancing around with his Juliet.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Yeah, that did not happen. I probably wanted it to happen,
but it did not happen. Dan, he can promise you.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Jackson writes and says Russell Wilson and Sierra were ridiculous
during Seahawks camp back in the day. I don't remember that, Jackson.
I guess I blocked that out or I didn't see it.
I did not see it.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Yeah, Yaphemi writes in says.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
What if it's all a con to advertise Aaron Donald's
new TV show?

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Hey, listen, anything is possible. I wouldn't be shocked.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
You imagine if we find out a couple weeks from
now and your Femi's right, and it's like.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Aaron Donald has got a Netflix.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Docu series on his come back to the NFL, and
then at the end of it, the last episode he
doesn't want to come back. Mister irrigation, friend of the show,
legend of the show, mister Irrigation from the City of
Houston or the Greater Houston area, says, I for one
am glad the Dodgers spent two hundred million dollars on

(23:14):
Kyle Tucker.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
They really should have paid him more. I agree, Just
pay him.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
More, more and more and more and more, more and more.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
And more and more and more.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Mister irrigation also says, is the Triple Crown dead?

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Will justify be the last Triple Crown winner in horse racing?
It's not dead.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
However, there's a priest and a rabbi and a shaman
outside and they're all talking, waiting to go into the
room for the Triple Crown. As you know, mister irrigation,
we live in the age out of an abundance of caution.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
So why would you risk.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Running a horse in all three races of the Triple
Crown races and you have to go from Kentucky to
Baltimore and New York. Oh my god, and what if
the horse gets hurt and you lose all that money?
And so, my goodness, ferg Dog rides in and he says,
I am so tired of people trying to drag mallards

(24:10):
teams down, saying the Dodgers are ruining baseball, taking shots
at an irrelevant Rams draft pick, and a podcaster fabricating
a Clipper scandal that's faker than Robbie's Canadian girlfriend.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Does Robbie have a Canadian girlfriend? Did I not? I
must have missed that. I must have not gotten that story?
What happened with that?

Speaker 1 (24:33):
We are on the phones at eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox and on X at Ben Mall. Let's
say hello to Aeny Meanie Money Moet's Hello to Anthony,
who's in Louisiana. Hello Anthony, welcome, Hey Ben.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Thanks for asking Anthony. I appreciate that that you You've
chosen to ask.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Me how I'm doing? And I'm doing okay.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
I'm not as good as you. I'm not Greenwood, Louisiana
like you are. If I was there, I'd be doing
much better. What's the number one activity in Greenwood, Louisiana, Anthony?

Speaker 2 (25:06):
What's the top temple?

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Dude?

Speaker 3 (25:08):
We have?

Speaker 1 (25:09):
We have g.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
You have what I haven't been.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
You know, gays and free by the animas off Loraina.
Can you help me on another? I think he said
he has gators as friends. Oh you you have a
lot of gators there is that right? Is it swampland
is it like or is it like a zoom type? Oh? Yeah, okay,
but don't you think you should know if there's gators

(25:34):
around you?

Speaker 3 (25:34):
You live there, you know, we haven't been to the park.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
I understand, I understand, all right.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Don't pet the gators, Anthony, Please don't pet the gators, Anthony,
don't pet him? How am I paying?

Speaker 2 (25:45):
How am I playing truck with Joe?

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Does?

Speaker 4 (25:48):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Let me see here? Uh trucker? Joe says he's doing
as good as some, better than most. That's what he
told me.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
All right, really, truck or Joe? What what about the
astrology insider?

Speaker 2 (26:00):
What about her?

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Say hello too?

Speaker 2 (26:05):
All right? Claire B? How about Claire B? You like
Claire B? Kathy and Madison? Yes, yell hey? How about
how about Eileen? I haven't heard from Aileen lately in
San Francisco. You want to say hello to her? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Yeah, hello too?

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Rebecca the ram fan, sure right, yes, yeah? Hell about
Jerry and Rhode? What what about Jerry and Rhode Islands?

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Come on now, hey, I'll sell Okay, I'll let her
know you.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Hey, how you doing you.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
Know, it's a good day, it's almost the weekend, getting
ready to drive up north.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
The ball.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
I definitely will, she she will. She will not say.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
That you're the best, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
That means as good as all the rest Anthony. But
thank you. All Right, there he goes Anthony in Louisiana.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
It's uh, you think he's like it right on the
bayou there, surrounded by swamps and all kinds of critters
and things that go bumpitty bumping the night out there.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
It's possible.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Never been there, I don't know. Now, have you ever
lived in a basement? Do you like living in the basement?
Do you enjoyed the basement? Well, it turns out a
baseball player that has one of those forever contracts appears.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
To like the basement. That would be Mike Trout.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Remember all those rumors getting clicks that Mike Trout was
going to go to the Phillies or the Yankees of
the Red Sox at the deadline and Mike Trout went nowhere?
Didley squat? Didley squat for Mike Trout? So one of
the toe licking Angel media people asked Mike Trout whether
or not the Angels unloading it was about thirty percent

(27:45):
of their big Lee roster changed his desire to stay
with the team. Did Mike Trout A say no comment,
B say I wish I had been.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Traded, or see nothing's changed the answer.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
See Mike Trout asked about the Angels getting rid of
a bunch of players, granted a lot of these guys
were dead beats, and he said, hasn't changed Anything's what
a great life, what a tremendous life that Mike Trout has.
You talk about living the dream, Live in the frickin' dream.
This guy spends six months a year, seven months a year,

(28:22):
I have more like six. In half the time, he's
in Laguna Beach, right on the Pacific Mansion, right there
in Laguna looking out at the mighty Pacific Ocean. And
then he spends the rest of his time in his home.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Territory there in New Jersey.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
He plays for the Angels, gets paid a lot of money,
and it's like being in the major leagues. But not
being in the major leagues, you lose every year. You're
in a market where you're not held accountable. You don't
really get booed, you don't get judged.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
You know, you don't.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
Get any of that because, as Arti Marinos said, the
owner of the Angels, the man in charge, he said,
they did market research and they determined that the fan
base there, the fan base is very excited to just
get cheap prices on the nachos, and they just want

(29:18):
a safe environment. They want affordable nachos. They would like
nice pretzels, soft pretzels, preferably, and that's all they want.
They don't need anything other than that. That's all they need.
And so Troud's very happy, happy there. So I thought
that that was amusing. And Trout's getting to the point
now where he's getting to the age where it's not

(29:40):
likely he's going to play anywhere else, at least not
while he's under contract, because no one's going to trade
for him or the Angels would have to pay the money,
and Arti Marino's not going to do that unless the
team's sold.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
So good luck on.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
That situation and ripping Canadian baseball. How about this the
gas man, Kevin Gossman, journeyman pitcher, good pitcher, but he's
bounced around, his pitched for a bunch of teams around
the major leagues. So he was just traded this week
from the team representing the blue the Toronto Blue Jays.
From that squad, he was sent from there to Chicago,

(30:14):
the North side the Cups. So Kevin Gosman gets to
Chicago and he was asked what the difference is between
playing baseball in Chicago and playing for the Toronto baseball team, and.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
He said the following quote.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
I saw this bouncing around. He said, it's the first
time my wife's been here.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
That's top right there. How is that possible?

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Gasman's been Gospin's rather been in the major leagues for
a very long time and never like these guys go
on family road trips, so they bring their wives and kids.
Every team does it. I guess Chicago's not a family
road trip destination. I know when at a buddy of
these work for the Pittsburgh Pirates and they'd come in
in italygue play they play the Angels, and they would
stay at a resort in Dana Point, South, Orange County

(30:59):
and have Disney trips and all that. Like there was
a family trip and a lot of teams do that.
A lot of teams do that.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
He never went to Chicago.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Chicago's a beautiful and during the summer, it's a top
five city in America. Chicago during the winter not so much. Anyway,
Gospin quote continues, said, you know, he said his.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Wife had never been there.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
After the first day, Gosman said, the new cup pitcher,
it's so different than Toronto. I was like, yeah, the
focus is baseball, it's real grass, it's outside.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Close quote.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
So he didn't mean to poop on Toronto. He just
pooped on Toronto where they play in the great indoors
in downtown on turf, and that's what they do. Although
I would argue that, and I've been to Wrigley before
and after they renovated Wrigley Field, and I.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Enjoyed it more before before they renovated it.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Now it's like downtown Disney, except instead of Mickey Mouse,
they have the cub logo. That's what they got going
on there at this point. That's just the way I recall.
It still beautiful and great and you should go and
have a fine time and all that. It just it

(32:18):
was when I had gone before, and this was a
long time ago, obviously, it still.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Had the essence of just a total crap hole. The visiting.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
I was doing stuff with the Dodgers and the visiting
locker room. You had to walk up a catwalk of stairs,
and the people down buying the beer and hot dogs
they couldn't see because they put tarps up on the catwalk.
They could kind of tell when people were walking, and
they would heckle and do all.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Kinds of things.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
And I have heard some stories about some of the
things that may or may not have happened.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
The debauchery that may have taken place in those.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Hallways at Wrigley Field before they renovated it back in
the day.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
The stuff of legends, the stuff of legends all right.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
Time now for the instad trivia, and here it is.
We'll keep it simple. You can answer this on X

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Blank the last player to win an NFL rushing title
as a rookie.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
That's the Insta trivia.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
If you know the answer on X at Ben Mahler,

On the mail bag, a bottomless pit of tremendous questions. Well,

But again check out the iHeartRadio app thank you in

(35:04):

live show. All right, we got mallarly third degree. We'll

of the seventy five minute delay that we have thanks

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Just trot down at Ben Malor.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Here is the insta trivia. Blank is the last player
to win an NFL rushing title as a rookie, as
a rookie won.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
The whole thing.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Oh see here Eke in Roseville, Minnesota. I've met him,
very nice man, He good guy. He's going with Willis
McGahee as his answer. Ferg Dog says first ballot, Weather
Channel Hall of Famer Mike Trout, Yes, King Rory says
slow Polk Rodriguez is the correct answer.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Who else do we have.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Mallard prop guys, says j z O'Donnell.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Is the correct answer. She's more of an offensive lineman.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Done.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Oh did you haven't seen it? Robbie? Didn't she move
out of America?

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Robbie the Mariner fan says Jim Thorpe is the answer.
Who else do we have? A specialist is going with
Barry Sanders? He says, the answer is b s Berry Sanders. Oh.
J Simpson from Analog Al JT the Wingman going with
Side Show Bob the Simpson's legend. Yeah, a mediocre kobuki,

(36:33):
says Chun Lee from Street Fighter.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Do you know who that is?

Speaker 5 (36:37):
No, that's the girl who wears the blue outfit.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Yeah, she's wearing a blu outfit.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
And in the thing that mediocre kubuki sent she's holding
it looks like a McDonald's cup.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
And eating a cheeseburger. And that's what that looks like.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Not blind Austin going with Jake Paul Johnny Cue says
Marcus Allen. Mister bean from Philler Up Phil is that
statue in Chicago? The bean is that is that it
don't look quite like mister beat. Eric Dickerson from Ryan
In Mexico and also Benny Boy.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
That was his answer. Who else do you?

Speaker 1 (37:08):
I have to see page down. Let's see if we
can skip over that. Kathy and Madison enjoyed Anthony and
Louisiana's called so much. He thinks the answer is Anthony
in Louisiana. Aj Prasinski from Shane in de Morne. That
great year he had running the football for the Cowboys.
All right, enough of that again one more time. Blank
the last player to win an NFL rushing title as

(37:31):
a rookie. As a rookie, Lorena, you're a big football fan.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Do you have an answer? I am. I'm going to
go with von Miller of the Broncos. Well, von Miller,
A lot of people don't remember he broke.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
In as a running back and they think that he
was only a defensive end edge rusher. So tremendous answer.
Unfortunately incorrect. The correct answer would be Kareem Hunt. Kareem Hunt,
Hunt Hunt. Cleveland Browns also played with Kansas City there
twenty seventeen, so that was the last time, and then
it was weird. In twenty sixteen, Zeke Elliott did it.

(38:05):
Then twenty seventeen Kreme Hunt.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Here we go here, we go. Right, we'll go here,
we go, here, we go degree go.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
Is one gets grilled.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Cool.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Bill's running back James Cook was asked about leading the
league in rushing last season. Cook said he doesn't like
to talk about last year and that he wants to
quote put last year behind me and just come out
here and do it again.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Yeah. Ben.

Speaker 5 (38:28):
Only two running backs in the last twenty five years
have led the league rushing back to back years, Derrick
Henry and Ladanian Tomlinson.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Do you think Cook can become the third?

Speaker 3 (38:36):
Well?

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Could he? Yes? I like that the instant trivia tied
into this coup, by the way, the synergy that we
have on this Yes, I plan that is amazing. Yes,
So can he yes? Will he know? For multiple reasons.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
Typically extreme outcomes are followed by more moderate ones, and
you also have the injury bug that is floating around
in the NFL. So I'm gonna go No, I'm gonna
go no, James Cook?

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Can he yes? Will he know? Next?

Speaker 5 (39:04):
Aaron Rodgers revealed that Mike McCarthy wants him out there
for thirty to forty plays in the Steelers' first two
preseason games. Now, Ben Roethlisberger said on his podcast this
week that he thinks it's a bad idea. He said
those snaps should be used to evaluate Pittsburgh's future.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Ben is he right?

Speaker 1 (39:18):
Yeah, No, they don't have a future quarterback on the roster.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
They've got two.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Players who, you know, just kind of look at him.
Maybe they might be good, maybe they won't be good. Now,
Rogers will go out there, he'll hand off. Let's say
he plays thirty plays, He'll hand off twenty five times
and throw five bubble screens, and then there'll be two
other plays he picks his nose on.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
That's what he's going to do. So, now, you.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
Don't play scared, you don't coach scared. I just I
hate that mindset.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Next Ceedee Lamb told reporters on Tuesday that he thinks
George Pickens should get all the money in the world.
Ben does a Lamb endorsement factor into the Cowboys decision
on a long term contract for Pickens?

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Yes, I think he should get the gross domestic product
of small c trees in Europe.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (40:02):
No, it doesn't who cares like it would be more
meaningful if he trashed him Like these guys always advocate
for each other. Which by the way, doesn't happen in
my business and radio, but in that business it happens
all the time.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
But it doesn't matter. There it is how do we
do kooboaloo? You pass this edition?

Speaker 4 (40:16):
Eh?

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Chicken, Chicken,
