Speaker 1 (00:00):
Boom! Shaka-laka. Mama, there goes that man. It's hour number two.
Hour two of the Ben Maller Show. So what do
you make of Yankees star Jazz Chisholm's very emotional response
for being called out as a stat patter by the
Red Sox radio guy? Also, how do you interpret the Dodgers'
(00:24):
plans for Shohei Ohtani? It sounds like they're going to
shut him down immediately. As a pitcher, no more starts
for Otani in 2026, according to Ken Rosenthal. We react
to that. And are you surprised that Quetel Marte went
radio silent when asked if he had a message to
the Diamondback fans who booed his ass all night long
(00:47):
last night as he somehow was allowed back to the
lineup by the toothless Arizona Diamondbacks franchise? Pretty pathetic. We'll
talk about all that and more right now. Here it is,
hour number two. I'll call him the card shark of
the Bronx. Welcome in the beginning of another hour of
(01:11):
the Ben Maler Show. We are in the air everywhere. Besties.
As we escape to an audio wonderland, coast to coast,
border to border, and beyond, on the vast and wondrously
powerful microphones of FSR emanating live. Do it live! From
(01:36):
the flood, the great flood of information, guaranteed human, from
the world-famous Fox Sports Radio Studios. Where Al in Minnesota,
who knows where all the good delis are, Chet in
San Diego, even Ohio Al, the legend. Boy, did he
kill it with our friend Dick and Dayton. Didn't see
(01:59):
Strip Club John, but he agrees that this show is
an express trip. And we say express. We mean express
employment professionals. If you work in logistics, you know nothing
moves without you. Companies need skilled people now, and express
employment professionals can help you find a full-time role that
fits at no cost to you. Get that gig you're
(02:22):
looking for. Visit ExpressPros.com. Get support. Get options. And get
to work. So our lead story this hour from the Bronx,
the Yankees head to the West Coast. They played the
Angels on Monday night, which meant that Anaheim was filled
with transplanted New Yorkers because nobody's going to watch the
(02:43):
Angels play. Well, I guess the moms like it because
it's cheap tickets, it's a safe environment. Not when the
Yankees are there. Anyway, Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr.,
Smooth jazz. Not real smooth, actually. Not real smooth. Sorry,
Jazz Chisholm Jr. firing back at Red Sox broadcaster Will Fleming.
(03:04):
This after Fleming ripped him. For stealing second base during
a matchup over the weekend, the Yankees got a blowout
win over the Boston Red Sox. And if you didn't
see this, perhaps not. So Chisholm said that he was, quote,
at a loss for words, adding, people show you who
(03:24):
they are. He defended the steal by arguing the unwritten
rules are not actual rules, Chisholm said, noting that that
Boston had previously poured on runs against the pathetic New
York baseball team in a previous matchup. Now, Will Fleming,
the radio broadcaster for the Red Sox, called Chisholm, quote,
(03:48):
Bush League. He also called him, quote, selfish and accused
him of stat padding. Hard to argue that he was
not stat padding. It's just kind of what was going on. Now,
Fleming also suggested that the Red Sox pitcher at the time, should, quote,
drill Austin Wells, who was the batter, and then get
(04:10):
into a Donnybrook fight with Jazz Chisholm. Now, Jazz responded
by calling Fleming unprofessional. But wait, there's more. He also
went on to say, Jazz Chisholm, that he said years
from now that no one will know who this person is.
(04:30):
But he's not going to be remembered at all. That's it.
Not going to be remembered. All right. So that is
a good jumping off point. Let us discuss the question.
What do you make of Yankees star Jazz Chisholm and
a very emotional response to being called out for stat
(04:52):
padding by the Red Sox radio guy? So I've got
Finger Lakes, Deadpool. And applesauce. And we will combine all
of these things together. And we are going to go
hocus pocus and extra focus is what we're going to do.
(05:13):
So we always start with number one. Number one.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Number one. Number one.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Number one.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Number one.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I said all right. So I had no idea that
Jazz was a two-sport star. Jazz Chisholm. Not only a
baseball player, he's a professional player. In the poker circuit,
I could see him at the Bellagio there, and he's
playing poker. And in this case, he's pulling out the card,
the victim card, from the bottom of the deck, just
like that. And I give him credit. He's got enough chutzpah,
(05:44):
jazz chisholm, to fill Yankee Stadium, calling someone else unprofessional,
while building a career which baseball people will say is unprofessional.
He's an acquired taste, jazz chisholm. He would be qualified
to do a radio show with Steve Hartman because he's
a loose cannon in many ways. And has he talked
(06:07):
the talk? Absolutely. Is he good for talk radio, jazz, schism? 100%. Absolutely.
But this season, he talked the talk in spring training,
talked about going 50 and 50, and then was cruising along. driving, driving, driving,
and right into a pothole the size of the Finger Lakes.
(06:29):
Just a big old.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Pothole.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Now, we guesstimate, using malware math, that the Red Sox-Yankees game,
I believe this was on Sunday. It was a good
weather day. Sunday, Red Sox-Yankees. It's fair to say, based
on a malware math guesstimation, that the only people listening
to the Red Sox radio broadcast... were friends and family.
(06:55):
That's it. That's it. Just a blowout. Why are you
going to listen to a blowout? Game's over. It was
like 7-1 at that point. Doing something else. So this non-story,
and it was a non-story that could have died on
the local radio airwaves in Boston, and that's it. However,
(07:15):
Jazz Chiz was like, well, no, no, no. Let me
get out my vintage 1980s boombox and And I'm going
to amplify this thing nationwide. Congratulations on hyping up Will Fleming,
who in a very odd coinkydink, I actually casually knew
Will Fleming. I worked at the station in Boston there briefly,
and Will was just beginning his sojourn. He was fighting
(07:39):
for scraps, Will Fleming, because this guy Joe Castiglione was
the longtime radio voice of the Red Sox, and they
knew he was getting close to retiring. And so Will
Fleming was one of the young bucks that they brought
in there to take over And so at the time, though,
he was not getting that many games, and it was
a whole thing. And so how do I know he
was not getting that many games? He had to do
a show with me at one point, I believe. That's
(08:01):
a sign that you're not getting that many games. Anyway,
so now we'll see what happens with Jazz Chisholm. And
I love that he just played the victim card. Like,
this is so emotional. So emotional. I'm pretty sure he
was not wearing with earbuds, not playing with earbuds, listening
to the Red Sox radio broadcast and had no idea
about this. Until somebody told him about it or he
read it online. But now the executives around baseball watching
(08:23):
Jazz Chisholm, second baseman for the Yankees, show everyone that
he's not getting paid. When free agency arrives, will he
get offered a qualifying offer by the Yankees? Will he
take the one-year deal? Will he sign a pillow contract somewhere?
The Monopoly board right now. There's not a lot of
that monopoly money right now. Plus, you've got the work
(08:44):
stoppage on top of that. Talk about a double whammy.
You have a ride on the vomit comet on the field,
and then you look at the offseason, and it's like, oh, boy.
All right, now, page two. To la-la land we go.
The Dodgers did not lose on Monday. They did not
play on Monday. The Dodgers increasingly appear ready to shut
(09:07):
her down. Shut her down now. We're talking about Shohei Otani,
the two-sport sensation from another nation who now it will
appear will not be a two-sport player anymore. They're going
to not attempt to have Otani pitch anymore. Ken Rosenthal
tells us the organization, wants Otani to focus on hitting.
(09:30):
He has not pitched since way back on July 3rd, today,
the first day of September, so you can do the
math on that. It's essentially two months away from the mound,
and they claim that he has lingering left knee inflammation
and a right bicep soreness. Oh, my bicep! Just like that. Anyway,
(09:54):
Otani did throw a bullpen session. I always love that,
the old bullpen session. through all of 20 pitches. Don't
overdo it. Do not overdo it. So 20 pitches in
a bullpen session last week. Dave Roberts, I really liked
him in that spot. Dave Roberts admitted that Otani is
not 100%, which is close to saying Otani is cooked.
(10:16):
All right, so Roberts says Otani's bat is hugely important
and risking it by pitching is, quote, not worth the squeeze.
Look how cool Dave Roberts is. So the question, how
do you interpret the D-O-D-G-E-R-S Dodgers and what appears to
be a shutdown plan for Otani as a pitcher? All right,
(10:39):
so I consider this. This is what I interpreted D-O-D-G-E-R-S.
The words, I used my Mallard decoder ring that I
got in a box of Cracker Jacks many years ago,
and it still works. And I've determined that this was
a CS situation, a concession speech by Dave Roberts and
(11:01):
the Dodgers. And they are congratulating Cubs outfielder Pete Crow Armstrong,
your National League most valuable player. By default, Otani's out
of the race today. And so I'm happy for Tree
in Chicago, Yafimi, all the boys there in the Windy
City that listen as they're driving around doing their thing
(11:22):
in Chicago. So your guy, how would Pete Crow Armstrong
not win the MVP right now? I know there's a
month to go, and the plan was always Otani's going
to come back. He's going to win three or four
games down the stretch, and he's going to hit seven
big boppers, and the Dodgers are going to win the
MVP with Otani, and that's it. Well, that's not going
to happen. It's not happening, so forget about it. He's
(11:44):
bowing out of the race. That's it. And the Dodgers
paid $ 700 million for Superman. And for the rest of
the season, they're asking Superman, listen, do not jump off buildings.
Stop jumping off buildings, will you please? Okay, fine. So
they spent several months trying to get Otani back on
the mound. They said he'll be okay. We're going to
(12:04):
get him back. Only to discover that they already had
plenty of arms. They didn't need Otani. And you don't
need Otani pitching when your starting rotation already looks like
an all-star pitching staff with great dental coverage and a
nice espresso machine, courtesy of your former Detroit Tiger pitcher,
(12:27):
Tarek Skubal, who came over there. And besides, they keep
calling Otani the two-way player. Right now, however, the roads,
both ways, both roads for Otani lead directly to the
trainer's room. And that's that. So his body is saying, no, no, no, no, no,
cannot do it. However, of course, like all big corporations,
(12:51):
any conglomerate, you have to have three meetings with the
medical staff. You have to have a bullpen session and
then need a translator code. A special code to figure out, well,
maybe we shouldn't pitch Ohtani the rest of the way there. Now,
since August 8th, they're talking about Ohtani's bat. Since August 8th,
Shohei Ohtani is batting a robust 207 with limited power. P.U.,
(13:20):
What stinks? Well, that's Otani lately. So unless the Dodgers
can go out, and we'll see if they have any
money left after the feds get done with the Dodgers
ownership group, they can go out and find some Deadpool DNA.
Get that Deadpool healing ability, that artificial regeneration, because you're
going to need it. It's time to pack up the
(13:41):
old circus train and say, no, no, no, we're not
going to put anything in the steam engine. We're going
to shut that circus train down and put away the–
human cannonball and retire the novelty act, at least for
the rest of this year. And there's a chance that
Otani doesn't pitch again, that this is it, that Otani
(14:02):
just settles in and he's at the end of his
athletic prime. Otani's 32. That's usually the time outside of
steroids that you slow down. So just have Otani focus
on hitting and that's it. And that's all right. Final
point to Arizona. And there was a special sound at
(14:24):
the Diamondbacks Phillies game last night. I don't know if
you heard it. .
Speaker 3 (14:29):
.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Just like that.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Why?
Speaker 1 (14:37):
It was Cattell Marte returns night. He was back for
how long? How messed up are the Arizona Diamondbacks? Holy
crap on a cracker, Batman. So, Cattell Marte, two weeks
after going AWOL and not showing up to a game
at Fenway without notifying the team, the gutless Arizona Diamondbacks
(15:02):
welcomed him back. I'm not kidding. Marte blamed it on a, quote,
moment of frustration. What is he, a child? They said
it was a moment of frustration, saying his knee hurt. Oh,
my knee! Boo-hoo-hoo! I can't show up to work! Yeah. Oh,
my God. And so he says he tends to withdraw
(15:26):
when things are not perfect, when any kind of problem
pops up. He does that, and it's not new. This
is now not the first, not the second, not the third.
How about the fourth straight year? that Quetel Marte has
missed at least one game when Arizona was depending on
him in a key late-season situation. And so four years.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
In a row.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Now, the money quote, which has gone viral because it's
so over the top. So Quetel Marte, prior to the
Diamondbacks-Phillies game, we'll get to that in a minute, but
prior to the game, he was asked if he had
a message from For the Diamondback fans. Now, I think
we can all agree that is a leading question. That
(16:10):
is whoever asked that question was expecting the layup line answer.
That is like going to Topgolf and just teeing it
up and you're at the driving range. And you're having
a great time. It's the easiest question. So, hey, Cattell Marte,
do you have anything to say to the fans? Oh,
(16:30):
I feel so terrible for the fans. Oh, my God.
Did he do that? No. Cattell Marte just sat silently
and shook his head and offered bupkis. That's it. So
the question, are you surprised that Cattell Marte went silent
when asked if he had a message to the Diamondback fans? So,
(16:55):
two words, hell no! Am I surprised? Are you kidding me?
Not even a little bit surprised. I would have been
surprised if he had said that. Quetel Marte was handed
the easiest softball imaginable. Underhanded. Anything for the fans. And
(17:15):
somehow he saw wing-bada-whiff!
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Whiff!
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Whiff! He whiffed. The guy had to memorize... The Sports
Apology Starter Kit over at SportsCliché. com. And something like, I
love the fans. I'm sorry. I'll do better. I apologize.
I know you work hard for your money and you
wanted to see me play, even though it was a
(17:40):
road game. But nonetheless, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Yeah,
15 seconds of corporate applesauce is all he had to serve.
15 seconds of corporate applesauce. And apparently even that was
too much work. Now, Marte asked his teammates for forgiveness,
(18:00):
but had absolutely nothing for the paying customers. So there
you go. Now, then again, he does not like to
always show up to work. And when he doesn't show
up to work, he often doesn't let anyone know that
he's not showing up to work. So there you go.
Why would you expect him to say, hey, I'm going
(18:21):
to send a message? And to be fair, like a
lot of those messages are kind of hokey anyway. But
usually you do it. You play the game. And so
it's clear based on a minutes-long deliberation of the available
information that Cattell Marte is a product of the Arizona
Diamondbacks incompetence. They have helped create the monster. Now, ultimately,
(18:44):
it's on Marte. However, he's certainly being supported by the
Arizona baseball team. Like, what are you doing? So when
you're 116, I think that's his contract, $ 116 million star
is unprofessional. Magically, when you're the Arizona Diamondbacks, that gets
(19:04):
rebranded as complex. It's a complex situation. That's it. And
a serious organization would not continue to enable this kind
of activity. Instead, the Diamondbacks are not a serious operation
because they're like, hey, if you want to come hang
out and swim in the pool, go knock yourself out.
(19:26):
And that's it. You can disappear during the playoff race.
We don't care. We just want you to come back
because we love you. We really care about you. I
know you screwed us over a million times, but we
love you. It's like a bad relationship, toxic relationship that
you've got going on here. So my advice to the
Diamondback fans, I'm very proud of you. My friends in Arizona,
way to go. Channel Dave Chappelle from Half Baked. Of course,
(19:50):
that movie more known for the memes than anything else.
And that famous Dave Chappelle meme. Boo that man!
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Boo! Boo!
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Boo that man! Boo!
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
So every trip to the batter's box. Let him hear
the soundtrack of accountability because the Diamondbacks are gutless and toothless.
They don't issue accountability as a franchise. They like to
get kicked in the nuts. So the fans have to
do it because the people that run the Diamondbacks apparently
don't have the balls to do it. It is the
Ben Maller Show. And we are moments away. We're going
(20:23):
to take some calls here. But we have Weed Man,
Ask a Weed Man, in the on-deck circle. So if
you want to send a question in, hashtag Ask a
Weed Man. He loves when Bozo... The district attorney sends
questions in, and pretty much anybody that sends questions in.
He just loves random questions. And he says he's going
to solve the world. Has he solved the world yet?
Speaker 2 (20:42):
No?
Speaker 1 (20:42):
We're still waiting for that? Okay, this could be the day.
This could be it. No, no, we're going to win
a Marconi Award. We're going to go to the Radio
Hall of Fame for this upcoming Ask a Weed Man segment.
It's going to be next level. So we'll get to that.
If you want to call in for it, 877-99-ON-FOX. Also
on X, at Ben Maller. That's at Ben Maller, if
(21:05):
you'd like to be part. So we'll get to all that.
We'll take your calls. Also, comments on X. And at
Ben Maller, hashtag ask a weed man. We'll get to that,
and we will do it! Next.
Speaker 4 (21:18):

Well, we're living here in Mallertown, where.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
The mayor of Bakersfield can be found.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Blair and Rachel tell me.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Sipping wine, calling the show, holding on line. The average
couple runs a liquor store.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Paula and James' wedding games with Snow White.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
The Ben Maller Show on Fox Sports Radio. A classic
Maller tune from Jay Scoop and Just Josh. Love these songs.
You don't have to wait for the Mallerpalooza. You can
send them in at any time. And don't forget, the
holidays are right around the corner. Now we're into September.
(23:00):
And then I'm told after September, October. And that means Halloween.
And then after that... flip the calendar into November, and
then there's this thing called Thanksgiving, and then we go
to December, and there's more Christmas music and Hanukkah, all
that stuff, New Year's. So it's all rolling along the
way it's supposed to, so we thank those of you
(23:21):
that have taken time over the years to make Mahler music.
We do. Appreciate it. We do appreciate it. Meanwhile, if
you want to be part of Ask a Weed Man,
he's coming up here in a sec. 877-99 on Fox,
on X, at Ben Maller, hashtag Ask a Weed Man.
Lorena is here, FSR Tech Queen. Hi, Bill. Don't talk
to me. And Koopa Loop at A Bronco Fan. That's
(23:42):
A Bronco Fan. And again, your comments can and will
be used against you in the court of sports radio.
So right to it we go. Hollywood, Florida. Hooray for Hollywood.
And we say hello to the man, the myth, the legend.
The one and only Weed Man Hippie. Now, Weed Man,
there were a couple of people that said, where's Weed Man?
(24:02):
I need, where's my guy? And I said, he's not here.
And then I even had to show a photo of
you to a couple of people. They wanted to know
what you look like. And they said you look just
like they thought you would look, Weed Man. That you
have the look of a guy that you would assume
(24:22):
would be named Weed Man Hippie.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
That's great. Hey, I saw Coop in Adventures of Ragtime.
He was like seven, eight years old. He was great.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Is that the one with the pony?
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
It's a miniature horse, Lorena. We just talked about that
the other day. I know.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Isn't that weird?
Speaker 1 (24:42):
How did you end up watching that?
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Wow, I just looked it on YouTube. There's a movie
that said Justin Cooper, so I watched.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
It's on YouTube?
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Apparently. Look at that. Oh, my gosh, I'm going to
watch it later if it's on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Stop.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
It's a terrible movie. It's really bad.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
How about that?
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Straight to YouTube. Did you enjoy the movie?
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Yeah, it was good. It was good.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
See, look at that. How much weed were you smoking
while you were watching?
Speaker 5 (25:09):
Plenty.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
I loved seeing Cooper. Yeah, of course.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
All right, well, here we go, Weed Man. Let's start
with this now. Many people say, well, you got to
ask Weed Man about Dijon Love. Do you know who
Dijon Love is?
Speaker 2 (25:21):
No, who is that?
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Oh, my God, Weed Man.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Who is it?
Speaker 1 (25:25):
He's my favorite 49er wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
No, no, this is the guy that pretended to be
a 49er wide receiver, and he got a bunch of
seemingly all-attractive young women to send him money. Wow, cool.
That's very cool. Now the story, we were going to
mention this earlier, but according to the New York Post,
(25:52):
they claim before he pretended to be a 49er wide receiver,
he used other fake athletic identities. He claimed to be
a professional basketball player overseas. Wow. That is so cool.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
I would do that.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Well, the only problem is he got arrested for it
because he wasn't these, and I guess he was like
sleeping with it. How about the women though, Weed Man? Wow.
I would think that, I've seen so many videos of
like seemingly attractive young women posting videos of, hey, yeah,
this guy, I, you know, talked to him. Like, wouldn't
you not want to let people know that you were
that gullible, that you fell for that?
Speaker 2 (26:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
It seems odd to me that they're posting videos.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
But that 1.6 million or something like that? Wow.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
1.3 million. That's like you make, right, Weed Man?
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Yeah. That'd be great.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
All right. Let's see here. Alf the Alien O'Piner writes in.
He says, Weed Man, have you ever tried Viagra?
Speaker 2 (26:51):
No, I wish.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
You wish. All right. Yeah, I did.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
That'd be great.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
All right. Yafimi, Chicago guy, says, if Mallor allowed you
to live at his house, would you move to California?
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Absolutely. Yes.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Well, Weed Man's got extra rooms, and I don't have
any space. Weed Man's, or Coop, rather, has rooms for you,
Weed Man, so you can live with Coop. How about that?
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Oh, that'd be great. I'd love that. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
It'd be wonderful. All right, Mark writes in, otherwise known
as Mark from Queens on the show. He says, ask
a Weed Man. Hi, Weed Man.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
I used to live in Queens.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
There you go. What three or more drug combo would
you do?
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Sleep.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
Yeah, there you go. What three or more drug combo
has made you pass out or black out for the
longest time, longest period of time? That's Mark from Queens.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
I never blacked out. I don't even sleep now. I
never sleep. I wish I could sleep.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
I'm sure there's something you could take that would. It'll
cause you to sleep. Jonathan in Delaware writes in. He's
dealing with some stuff right now, a little minor health stuff,
so he's with us on the overnight. Sorry, Jonathan. He says,
Ask a Weed Man is such a good segment. I
love that guy. Any advice to Jonathan from Weed Man Hippie,
Jonathan in Delaware?
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Feel better. Definitely feel better. I feel bad that you
don't feel good. Just....
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Feel better? Okay. All right. That's it. Andy in Lionel Lakes,
Minnesota writes in on Ask a Weed Man. Our friend Billy,
a man that sat on a lifeguard tower on the
beach in Miami during a hurricane.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
I did that.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Was that a cat four? What was that? I forget
how powerful it was.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Yeah, that was so bad. And I had to run
off the lifeguard stand into the hotel. It was terrible.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Made for good radio. Did make for good radio.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Andy in Lionel Lakes, Minnesota says, with Labor Day weekend approaching,
are you going to be celebrating Labor Day or are
you just going to call it another Monday?
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Another Monday? I've never had labor in my life, really.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Yeah. You've made it this far without having to really labor.
That's pretty impressive.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Very impressive.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
All right. Who's next? Analog Al says, pick one. A
great bowel movement. Fantastic make and whoopie or Acapulco gold.
You can only have one, Weedman.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Make and whoopie, definitely. No doubt.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
Look at you.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
What a stud. What a big stud you are. You're
a lover, Weedman.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Oh, man.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
I am. Ultimate ladies' man. Where's Lisa? Is she up
with us, Lisa? Is she there?
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Yeah, Lisa, you there?
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Hi, Lisa.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Hi, Lena.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Hi, Ben.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Hi, Lisa.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
How are you? Let's do a reality show, get you
guys back together. Wouldn't that be great?
Speaker 2 (29:46):
That would be great.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Reunited and I do think they have planes that fly
out of JFK pretty regularly to Miami. I think that's
not that. And vice versa. Bozo, the district attorney, writes in, says,
hashtag ask a weed man, of course. This is your
buddy Bozo Weed Man.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Bozo the clown. That's great.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
He says, if you could get a second chance at
life starting over, what would you change?
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Well, I still have the toy store, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
The problem with that, though, is there's not a lot
of toy stores left anymore. You know what I mean? Like,
that's the toys for us.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Yeah, I heard that.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Even Lisa's laughing. Even Lisa's like, you might want to,
you'd have to branch out. You'd have to get into
some other things. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (30:42):
So where do people buy toys now?
Speaker 1 (30:45):
This thing called the interweb. Amazon. Amazon, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Walmart. I wish I bought Amazon as a stock way
back when. That was the best stock. I would have
still been rich. That would have been great. I can't
believe I didn't get Amazon.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Or Apple. If you bought Apple stock in 1982, that
would have been good for you, too.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
All right, Late Night Drug Tester writes in. He says, hey,
Weed Man, how come we haven't come up with a
word that rhymes with orange?
Speaker 2 (31:25):
So what in the world rhymes with orange? What does? Orange, squash, squash.
I don't know. What word rhymes with orange?
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Well, that's the bit. See, there's nothing that rhymes with
the word orange.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Wow, really? I guess not.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
I'm thinking about it.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
And any solution?
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Nothing.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Nothing runs as far as that's funny. All right.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Fergdog says, Weed Man, did you ever figure out to
get Zoom on your phone so you can be part
of the fifth hour of mail?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
I'm still trying to get Zoom. I can't get it.
It's amazing. It never fully loads up.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Yeah. All right, well, we are efforting. There might be
some new technology. This gadget that I may or may
not have acquired that conceivably would allow you, Weed Man,
to be part of the show without getting the Zoom app.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Oh, that'd be great. I'd love that.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
I haven't tested it, though. See, I might have to
test it. You'd be my guinea pig. We'll see if
it works, you know.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
I'd love to do your show on the weekend. I'd
really love to do that.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Well, not every weekend. We've got Robbie the Mariner fan,
and we've got Dante in Vegas, JT the Wingman. Now,
we might start doing the round robin. We have multiple
celebrities pop up on the Fifth Hour Podcast mailbag. We
are considering that. We're efforting that.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
I'd love to do that. Anytime you could get me.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
To do that, I'll do it. You always answer your phone,
Weed Man.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Yes, yes.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
You never do that. Well, that one time you stopped
answering the phone there, but that... Well, forget about that.
When you were in jail, right? Because you couldn't answer
your phone.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
All right. Let's see. I saw... I'll.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Still try to download you, but I'll still try to
do it.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
No, it's not going to work. It's not going to work.
But anyway, a listener says, Weed Man, are you excited?
McDonald's is bringing back spicy McNuggets. I guess this is
only in Texas, though, I think, right?
Speaker 2 (33:28):
It doesn't do me any good.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Yeah, you're not.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
And there's not a McDonald's near me. I don't even
know where McDonald's is.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
What's your favorite fast food restaurant, Weedman?
Speaker 2 (33:40):
There's none over here. I go to CVS.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
That's your favorite fast food restaurant? What, do you get
Snickers bars over there?
Speaker 5 (33:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Yeah, all kinds of ice cream and frozen dinners. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
All right.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
There are three McDonald's in Hollywood, Florida.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Weed Man.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Really? Not near me.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
When Weed Man says not near him, it means within
a one block radius of his house. Right?
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Yeah. Yeah, I got the Weed Show right down the
block from me. That's good.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
All right, well, it's too bad. I saw Domino's is
giving away free pizza if you buy a Big Mac, Whopper,
or other fast food favorite. So you try to get
a free pizza, Weedman. But again, we learned that on
your birthday, you always have to get apps, and you
don't do apps. You're not an app guy, so it's
not going to work. And I'm also impressed, Weedman. You've
(34:38):
made it through the entire segment without mentioning a certain
person that rhymes with burrito.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Burrito, yeah. I wish burritos could be food.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
You haven't mentioned that, and you have not mentioned that
there's a weed shop down the street. So I'm happy
that you didn't mention that either. So that's good.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
All right.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Any other final thoughts here, Weed Man? Are we good? Yes,
we're good here.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
I love you, Danny.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
All right.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
You have to make the world a better place to live.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Yes, we do.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
You have to stop fighting around God. We have to
change the world.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Change the world.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Let's make the world better now. Let's love the world.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
All hug each other.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Put love in it. Make it better.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Yes. FergDog says, more Weed Man on the fifth hour,
less Robbie, please. It's time we class up.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
Good.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
That's great. FergDog and Robbie, the Mariner fan, rivals. What
is going on? I thought Fergdog loves everyone. He found
his rival.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
All right.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Thank you, Weed Man. There he goes, the great Weed
Man hippie in Hollywood, Florida. And we appreciate him. As
we press on, it is the Ben Maller Show. And
time now for the Insta trivia. We'll go to football.
Blank was a 12th round pick, became famous for playing
all seven positions in on his team's defensive front seven,
(35:59):
defensive end, defensive tackle, nose tackle, all four linebacker spots.
And that versatility earned him the nickname the Albino Rhino. Again,
Blank was a 12th-round pick, became well-known for playing all
seven positions on his team's defense on the front seven.
Defensive end, defensive tackle, nose tackle, all four linebacker spots.
(36:22):
And that versatility earned him the nickname the Albino Rhino.
That is the Insta Trivia. The answer. We'll get to it.
We'll do it. Next.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Ben Maler
Show weekdays at 2 a.m. Eastern, 11 p.m. Pacific.
Speaker 1 (36:39):

It's the reason we have all these freaking cameras and
lights in here, so you might as well watch the videos. Otherwise,
what's the point of wasting all the money on these
(37:01):
freaking lights and these cameras and all that? Thank you.
Time now for the payoff on the Insta Trivia. Blank
was a 12th-round pick, became famous for playing all seven
positions in his team's defensive front seven. Defensive end, defensive tackle,
nose tackle, all four linebacker spots. That versatility earned him
(37:24):
the nickname the Albino Rhino, one of the great nicknames
in NFL history. That's the question. What's the answer?
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Femi.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Going with Hulk Hogan. Alf the Alien Alpiner says Newt Rockne.
Who else do we have? Former Viking Jeff Simeon from
Areek in Minnesota. Alex Karras from Analog Al. Ross Perot
from Maler Propke. I didn't have that. On my bingo card,
the Rhinos, Arch Enemy the Hulk from Michael in Tulsa,
(37:54):
Larry Zonka from Dat Dude, Randy White, guest by Eek
in Roseville, Minnesota, Caitlin Clark from JT the Wingman, Chip
in the Qs, got it right. Shocker. Zach Thomas from
Mediocre Kabuki. Who else do we have? Jim Brown from
Steelers Nasty. The Waterboy from Filler Up Phil. Do you
have an answer, Lorraine? Going with Quagmire. Giggity, giggity, giggity, giggity. Oh,
(38:16):
it's Broncos legend Carl Mecklenburg of the 1980s Broncos. The
albino rhino. Here we go. Here we go.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
It's Maller.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
How about that?
Speaker 4 (38:27):
To the third degree.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
This is when Big Ben gets grilled. And to the
coop-a-loop we go.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Ben, yesterday you talked about Will Levis getting waived by
the Titans. Yeah. Well, he went unclaimed on waivers. He
is now a free agent. Do you think he'll get
a backup quarterback role with anybody, or is he headed to, like,
a practice squad somewhere?
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Yeah, at this point, usually what happens is they kind
of wait until the first week of the season, and
then they'll add players. And he'll definitely end up on
an NFL roster before the end of the year, no
matter how many negative plays he has, because, as you know, Coop,
There are supply chain shortages at the quarterback position. So
even bad quarterbacks keep getting jobs. Next! Well, college football
(39:11):
started over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
And the announced attendance at the USC Trojans with the
Coliseum was 51,144.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Apparently, it looked like a lot less than that. About
4,000 people were there.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Yeah, to the point where the USC even had to
make a statement about it.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
Some people were blaming the heat. Do you think that
was the problem, Ben? No, that's a cop. It was
really hot. Obviously it was hot. It felt like the
South in Southern California. However... The real issue here, Coop,
is they're playing a bad team, San Jose State, and
people aren't fired up for Lincoln Riley. That's the problem.
It's a Lincoln Riley problem.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
Next!
Speaker 3 (39:49):
So Jonathan Kaminga is now on a two-year, $ 12 million
contract after turning down a three-year, $ 75 million offer last summer.
His agent's getting a lot of heat. Some think he's
closer to the first contract worth than the second contract worth.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
What do you think he is? I think he's your
typical run-of-the-mill NBA player's marginal.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
How did we do?
Speaker 1 (40:07):
You passed this edition.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
I won!
Speaker 1 (40:08):
I passed! Hey, I passed, Andre. I passed!
