(00:23):
This is the best of the Ben Maller Show on
Fox Sports Radio. Well, all good things come to an end,
and the Suns have set the Clippers season over. We'll
talk about that well, come in the beginning of another
edition of The Ben Mallers Show. We are in the

(00:46):
air everywhere, as we prove stupid is as stupid does,
coast to coast, border to border in beyond on the
vast I'm powerful microphones of FSR M monating live from
the land. We're not at Disneyland, No, It's Radio Land,
an imaginary place where listeners dwell and hang on every

(01:09):
word the Fox Sports Radio Studio. So our lead this
hour coming from the NBA. The Suns in Clippers in
Game six of the Western Conference Finals, Phoenix leading three
to two, with another chance to advance what's taken them
so long to the NBA Finals. They scrappy LA team
trying to stave off elimination at Staples Center. Enough, you

(01:32):
didn't watch, You didn't miss much. We watched so you
would not have to. It was an act of kindness
here to the overnight radio listener that you are now
Unfortunately for yours, truly, Chris Paul woke up from hibernation
for a rare good game, his first good game in
the Western Finals with forty one points, and the Suns

(01:54):
pulled away from the Clippers in the second half and
get to win. So Phoenix wins the Western Conference Finals
four games to two. They were given two games. We'll
talk more about that in a minute. They now await
the Buckshawks winner in the Eastern Finals, which will continue
that coming up here. Obviously, in the next day, will

(02:14):
have another game between Milwaukee and Atlanta, and that will
be the matchup in what figures to be the lowest rated,
least interesting NBA Finals in history, the Suns against whoever
who cares snoozefest. All right, so let us discuss now
the question many of you seem to have asked, based
on the sampling of email that I got as the

(02:34):
game was ending here they lopsided margin of the Western
Conference Finals Game six, that that win. You wanted to
know if that changed my rather low opinion of the Suns.
That was the question that got asked more than anything.
So have I changed my opinion of the Sons? No?

(02:54):
I have not, in the least, not impressed at all.
So my thoughts on this. You've got playing cards, check
marks and Smarmie, and we'll tie all of these things
together and we'll make the Bubba ganewspen. We'll make the
Bubba Ganers. Now a listen, the Suns. The fact that
they had to go six games with a rag tag

(03:16):
Clipper team. You know what the word for that is embarrassing.
The Suns got outworked and out hustled by the B squad.
For the Clippers without three rotation players but mainly the
face of the franchise, all NBA player Kawhi Leonard. Down
three rotation guys for the vast majority of the series,
the Clippers were matching punch for punch. The first five games,

(03:40):
an undermanned Clipper team collectively outscored the Suns by seventeen points. Seventeen.
I'm supposed to be impressed with the Suns. Phoenix needed
intervention from the referees to win two of the games
they won. It's insanity what I'm seeing here the reaction.
The NBA made sure to stack the deck of playing

(04:01):
cards and they arranged them in the Sun's favorite, which
you'd think they wouldn't need that, after all, the Clippers
without Kawhi Leonard, but the Sun's absolutely got assistance in
game two. I've sent out the evidence on that. Everyone's
in agreement. DeAndre Ayton was allowed to grab and tug
at Zoobot's jersey to get open for a dunk that
should not have counted. Should not have counted in game two,

(04:23):
so right there, that's a gift. And then again, Phoenix
got a push from the officiating crew in the final
minutes of Game four when a ball clearly bounced off
campaign create defensive play by Nicholas Patum, and the referees
could not be bothered. They refused to go to replay
because it would have helped the Clippers hurt the Suns.

(04:46):
So in reality, and the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard, we're
going to have to beat the Suns six times in
the series to win this series, to me, Phoenix hasn't
proven anything yet. They beat a Laker team without Anthony Davis,
and Uggets team without Jamal Murray, a Clipper team without Kawhi,
Leonard Sergibaka and zoobots for the final couple of games.

(05:06):
So in terms of style points you get zippo none.
I mean people that have watched this series no, and
watched the Suns in the playoffs, They're not a very
impressive team. Now, part be this in terms of the
Clippers side of the ledger, and we have this thing
we call the glass test, and when you do the
glass test on the Clippers, the glass is half full

(05:29):
and you can say bubbling over for the people's team.
So many positive check marks for the Clippers here that
the fact where do we begin? TYA lew establishing himself
as a legitimate coach, not a product of Lebron James
riding the coattails. I had my doubts. He coached circles
around Monty Williams, who had a healthy team and a

(05:52):
team that had home court and all that stuff, and
the Clippers coaching wise dominated this series. Paul George had
a dominating playoff run, shutting up the haters. They're proving
how insanely talented he is, putting up numbers that are
reminiscent of guys like Dwayne Wade and Kobe Bryant in
the playoffs and Patrick Beverley. I love that guy. I

(06:14):
don't know if he'd be back or not. I don't know.
Makes some changes, but he solidified his reputation as a
great nuisance player. The glue guy, a mosquito who really
messed with Devin Booker's fragile mind in this series, and
the Clippers played with some moxie, They played with gumpshin
They had really a fearless approach considering that they didn't
have Kawhi Leonard in this series, but they did play

(06:37):
with some grit. And the progress that the Clippers made
when they lose their top player. You look at some
of these other teams and how they just meekly went out,
like the Lakers and the Nuggets, but not the Clippers.
That's baby steps. It's the first appearance in the NBA's
Final Four, and you can tell the Clippers are upsetting
the NBA because there's a lot of people that cannot

(06:59):
put up with this, and they know the Clippers are
going to be great for many years to come with
Kawhi Leonard coming back healthy, and nobody's gonna want to
play this team in the postseason anytime soon. And so
they established themselves also as the top team in Los Angeles.
They run la the Clippers at this point. And they
also did something which was pretty cool. They exposed the

(07:20):
Laker historians as douche canoes, these n INCOME poops so
uncomfortable in their own skin that they were triggered by
the success of the Clippers. And it shows you yet
again what frauds these people are. And the Clippers, the
working class team and their fans can hold their head high,
unlike the other team which absolutely embarrassed themselves. Now the

(07:43):
last word here going forward. All right, we look at
the landscape in the NBA. Here, I'm gonna declare right now,
right now on the microphones a Fox Sports rader that
whoever wins the Eastern Conference, I am throwing my support
behind to win the NBA Finals. Now, why is that

(08:03):
Chris Paul That's the real villain here. Chris Paul CP
three has that smarmy arrogance that makes him easy to
pull against. And I love when Patrick Bey I'm not
supposed to satist, but I love when Patrick Beverley shoved
him in the back. I feel like that was for
the Clipper fans who remember when CP three took a
ride on the vomit comet in Big Games and he

(08:24):
needed a paper bag because he was hyperventilating back in
the Lobb City heres and Beverley got escorted away. But
it was it was outstanding, and Paul's getting toe massages
by the NBA establishment media after his Game six performance
found it rather than nauseating. We believe in truth and broadcasting.
But for the bulk of the Western Conference Finals, Chris

(08:46):
Paul was not only a player, he was horrible. And
now that doesn't go with the narrative, right, doesn't go
with the narrative, and we go by facts over feelings.
Here now my evidence the Sun's coming in to the
game Wednesday night. The Sun's had a ninety seven point
seven offensive rating when Chris Paul was on the floor.
When he wasn't on the floor, they were at one

(09:08):
hundred and twelve point five, so they were better by
a wide margin when Paul wasn't playing. Keep in mind,
he missed the beginning of this series he was out
in the COVID protocols and in the first three games
Chris Paul played in the Western Finals. You know what
he shot this God's gift to basketball to point, God

(09:29):
is getting a manny and a petty. He shot thirty
one point six percent the first three games he played
in this series. So listen the Sons the way I
look at the Sun's very unlikable team, Devin Booker's Kardashian trash.
He's a lightweight. Jay Crowder is a goon who cries
all the time. And DeAndre Ayton, Like I don't necessarily
hate DeAndre Ayten, but the media hype, which he has

(09:51):
not lived up to. It's a little too much. Premature
would be the word for DeAndre Ayten. But the main
reason again, I will be throwing my support, which very
valuable on the Eastern comments, whether that's the Bucks or
the Hawks. So I gotta, I gotta figure out how
to go about that. But just we really need Chris
Paul to lose. He vanished at so many crucial moments

(10:14):
in the Lob City days. And we love to poke
at Doc Rivers and goof on Doc Rivers, but Chris
Paul was as responsible as anyone for that era of
basketball failing, and I like that people now are trying
to rewrite history. I find it amusing. And the reason
he had been such a failure in his career is
because of his poor play in big games and the Clippers.

(10:35):
Whoever wins these, whether that's the Bucks of the Hawks,
we'll find out, depending on who's the last team standing
with injuries. The blueprint is out on how to mess
with some of the frangile minds on the Suns. And
that's because of the way the Clippers approached this. And
so that's that's the story in a nutshell, all right.

(10:57):
It is the Ben Mallard Show, the Ben Matherer Show.
As we pressed on, we here all a night long.
Let's hear from some of the participants. And here is
thy Lu, the coach who impressed me. I was on
a wait and see approach with Tyler. I said, this
guy know what he's doing. He does. Here is Tylu

(11:17):
pointing out that the progress was made for the people's team.
A lot of ups and downs, a lot of injuries,
but our guys to stay of course, and we did
something customer this year. Even though we didn't completely we
wanted to complete. You know, I thought we did a
great job of just doing something special, doing something this
franchise has never done before. There, Yo, in the final

(11:39):
four the NBA, the Clippers better than twenty six other
teams out Here is Paul George, who put up amazing
numbers in the playoffs or the Clippers. Here is him
pointing out that he enjoyed his teammates. Very proud of
my guys. What we had to overcome throughout the year.

(12:01):
We had injuries throughout the season, obviously the injuries in
the close season. You know, we found a way to
fight through it. We found a way to keep going,
keep playing. You know, we just had each other's backs
all year. And one of the greatest locker rooms I've
been a part there. You go, good team, and that

(12:24):
team will be back and even better next year is
Steve Balmer. Will spend even more money and he's got
he's the richest owner in all of the NBA. And
we're a year closer to the taj from Ahaul opening
and the Clippers can leave that that dump, that cesspool,
that Staples Center is right there in skid row in
LA and moved to a palace in Inglewood, which will
make them even more attractive because they'll be far away

(12:44):
from that crap over there at Staples Center. Now, how
about Paul George also pointing out yet again, he is
asked about the trolls and the negative algorithms that attack PG. Thirteen,
and here is his response. He's not happy about it there.
Whatever I mean, not being in the post season player
or all of that is I never understood it. But

(13:09):
you know it's it's it's not much. I've been the
same person. I'm dealt with stuff you know, as y'all do.
Makes me no difference than the next man, But you know,
it is what it is. I came up short again.
I'm proud of what we did as a team. I
wasn't out to proof nothing to nobody. Yeah, I think

(13:31):
we recorded that with a ten keen in string. But
my advice to Paul George is just hey, through what
I don't get paid to be on Twitter, neither to you,
so just stay off there. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Ben Maller Show weekdays at two am
Eastern eleven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the

(13:51):
iHeart Radio app. It is a case of horseshoe happiness,
I guess. Welcome man. In the beginning of another hour
of the Ben Maller Show. We are in the air
everywhere as we go bonkers, coast to coast, border to
border and beyond on the vast and powerful microphones of FSR,

(14:15):
emanating live from inside your ear drops, providing marginal sports
talk radio all night long. Hanging out here at the
Fox Sports Radio Studios. So I'll leave. This hour comes
from the NFL. We are less than a month away
from the start of the NFL season. It's July first.

(14:38):
Later this month, the very end of the month, most
teams will begin training camp. Some teams start a little
bit earlier, but the NFL will be underway by the
time we get into August, and we have a chance
to do something we love to do. Parse the words
of an athlete, in this case, a quarterback who relocated

(14:58):
this offseason. I'm referring to Carson Wentz, who shifted from
the Eagles to the Colts in a move that got
a lot of publicity. There was a lot of attention.
Carson Wentz was an MVP candidate several years ago, fell
out of favor, got replaced because of injury, and the
Eagles won the Super Bowl without him, and he recently
opened up about his situation, and I thought it was interesting.

(15:23):
I don't know if you heard it or not, or
saw the quotes. Maybe not. Let me give you the
truncated recap here. Carson Wentz thinks that Indianapolis is definitely
a special place, he said, expect him to say anything different,
and he has been rejuvenated after some tough times there
in Philadelphia. Quote. I really feel like I have a

(15:44):
new passion for the game, Carson Wentz, revealing he said,
I've been high, I've been injured, I've been now benched,
I've been traded. I've kind of seen a lot in
five years. So whatever the game throws at me, I'm ready.
The money quote of that is obviously the middle part
a new passion for the game. Now, let's discuss the question.

(16:10):
You are a Colts fan, how should you feel about
Carson Wentz saying a new passion for the game. Now,
My response, and I have no skin in the game
here is skeptical. Show me. That's always my response to
these things. Now my observations, you've got kryptonite, the three
strikes law and runway and we will lock all of

(16:34):
these things together now number So we begin with this
when you talk about the Carter, the Carson Wentz saga there,
Carson Wentz hasn't done anything yet with Indy. He hasn't
had a chance to do anything yet with Indy to
warrant any kind of excitement at all. And it's certainly

(16:54):
not something where you can say you kind of new
passion for football. He's merely gone through the offseason program
that it's not exactly a hard labor camp. It's easy peasy.
It's almost impossible not to shine bright when you're going
against air most of the time and you're holding causual
workouts in shorts, and the Colts canceled a lot of

(17:15):
what their offseason work was supposed to be. Anyway, the
real barometer here is to see how Carson Wentz does
when he actually faces adversity, because that, as they know
in Philadelphia, is the man's kryptonite. When things go sideways,
Carson Wentz quickly becomes rattled. It becomes rattled. Obstacles are

(17:37):
designed to make you stronger. A lot of sports is
built on overcoming obstacles. Right. It's all the mindsets why
it's good to have kids play sports because you want
them to look at adversity and not run away into
the corner in the fetal position and starts sucking their thumb.
You want them to get past that and become stronger,
tougher people only the week allow themselves to be overwhelmed. Well,

(18:00):
Carson Wentz often allowed himself to be overwhelmed in recent years,
and that has got a change, or else is going
to be the same old, same old. Instead of wearing green,
he will be wearing white and blue, and he'll still
be puking all over the midfield logo, just wearing a
Colt's helmet instead of an eagle's helmet. Now the second finger.

(18:21):
All right, the Colts are a good situation, all things consider.
We've done some monologues in the past in other episodes
about Carson Wentz, but it's obviously one of thirty two
starting jobs in a much more forgiving town in Indiana
than in Pennsylvania. And this is the guy that Frank Wright,

(18:44):
the Indie coach, stuck his neck out to get. They've
had a revolving door quarterback since Andrew Locke up and
quit a couple of weeks before the season. Couldn't hack
it anymore and gave up on football, and they've been
rotating quarterbacks in They had Jacoby Brissette out of Desperate,
they had Philip Rivers in his last year before he retired,
and now another new starting quarterback for the fourth consecutive

(19:06):
year as they go with Carson Wentz. But when those
guys were together, and this is what the upshot is
for the Colts, as they say, well, when they were
together in Philadelphia, Carson Wentz was lighting up the scoreboard.
And that's true, no doubt about that. But there's a
clear point of demarcation, and some are saying that it's
Frank Wright. I tend to think that it's the injury

(19:29):
that settled in the career arc of Carson Wentz. He
is literally and figuratively Carson Wentz a one hit wonder
twenty seventeen, which is starting to get a little while
back now twenty seventeen, twenty twenty one, now midway through
twenty twenty one. But in twenty seventeen he was blown
to smithereens I was at the game. Is that the game?

(19:52):
There was a Rams Eagles game at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
And he has never been the same since then, Carson
Wentz has a losing record since he came back from
that in twenty eighteen. With pedestrian numbers, he's averaged six
point seven yards per attempt over his last thirty nine game.
Now seven is average, below average is a below average quarterback.

(20:13):
And he went all the way down to rock bottom
absolute misery in twenty twenty and guilty of the three
strikes law. You're out in Philly. Strike one last season,
the average six yards per attempt. That's embarrassing, that's absolutely embarrassed.
Strike two tied for the NFL lead in interceptions. Strike

(20:35):
three led the NFL in sacks and yards lost because
of sacks and all that collectively combined. Unable to adjust
his game to avoid pressure. That's the biggest sin on this.
Like he doesn't make quick decisions, at least not in Philadelphia.
He's got a very slow internal clock and always easier

(20:56):
to fat shame the offensive line and blame the offensive line.
But there are ways you can compensate for an offensive
line that's not great. Making quicker decisions with the balls
the first thing, and also not having legs that are
filled with concrete. That's another situation. I don't know how
you fix that. If you're the Colts together, having a

(21:18):
plotting style and moving around like molasses is a lethal
lethal combination. And that's why Carson Wentz is on a
new team. Now. The final point, so Wentz going forward here,
I'm a skeptic. The Colt should be skeptical. I know
they can't say any of that publicly. And Carson Wentz

(21:39):
is following all the proper cliches and things you're supposed
to say when you go to a new team. He's
got zero excuses, zero excuses. In twenty twenty one, the
runway has been cleared, prepare for takeoff. And if he
ends up stuck in neutral again and the plane does
not get off the ground, which is more probable than not,

(22:02):
then that's on him. And then when I say there's
no excuse, I mean, let me hold your hand here.
I'm gonna walk you through this, right. You know this
is a do your job situation. Personify like my evidence.
Carson ways, he's got his chosen coach. He wanted to
play for Frank Reich again. Frank Reich, they have a bromance.

(22:22):
He wanted to play. He wanted to coach Wentz again.
He's got a top notch offensive line. You look at
all the pro football offensive line grading websites and the
Colts are either one, two or three on all those websites.
Got a bunch of big meathead guys that are Pro
Bowl level offensive lineman. So you can't blame it on
the offensive line if you get sacked a bunch of times. Now,

(22:44):
I'm not a big t y Hilton guiding t wise
on the back back nine of his career, but he
is still statistically, in the eyes of many, a top
shelf wide receiver. Jack Doyle is a pretty solid tight end.
And there's a stable of competent running back that the
Colts have. They've got guys Marlon Mack coming back from

(23:04):
from some injuries, and Hines is pretty good. They've got
a combination tailors there, so they've got some different guys.
And on defense, assuming the Colts don't completely fall off
the table, Indianapolis had the eleventh ranks scoring defense in
the league. So and he's also far away. Carson went
from the pestering media in Philadelphia instead of the Colts

(23:25):
media is like, what you have for lunch? Oh good,
you had had eggs? Why do we eats eggs for lunch.
Why do I like eggs? But he also, more importantly
gets to go against a lineup of opponents that can
be compared to tomato cans and punching bags in the
AFC South. If you look at that division, this is

(23:45):
not the elite of the elite. Defensively, Now, we expect
Jacksonville to be better. We believe in urban Meyer, but
how much better are they gonna be? Jacksonville was the
thirty first ranked defense scoring defense, which is the most
important number. How many points do you give up? Jacksonville
was thirty Houston, which has gotten dramatically worse because their
quarterbacks on time out as he tries to keep himself

(24:08):
out of the crossairs of the NFL, which is eventually
gonna happen anyway. But Houston ranked twenty seventh in scoring
defense last year, So he got thirty one. Twenty seven Tennessee,
which you think would be better. They were not. Last year.
The Titans were twenty fourth in the Music City defensively,
scoring defense, that's cream cheese is what that is. And

(24:30):
those are all the divisional opponents. You win the division,
you make the playoffs, you win against your divisional opponents.
You put up big numbers there. Despite that, my expectations
are low. I expect Carson Wentz to run hot and
cold like a broken water heater, and I imagine that
by the end of the year, when we look back

(24:50):
at twenty twenty one, Carson Wentz will settle into being
a baseline quarterback, unexceptional. Right, He'll have the occasional good
game you run of the Mi Garden variety quarterback that
occasionally we'll like the scoreboard up, but not week the week.
You can't depend on the guy, and really nothing to
brag about. Right from a standpoint of consistency, which is

(25:12):
the thing that separates the guys that are the very
top and those that are in the middle and at
the bottom, I don't think he'll be at the bottom.
I would imagine he'll be somewhere in the middle because
he's got good players around him, better defense, and a
really bad division, which are all the ingredients to improve.
But how much, right, that's how much are you gonna

(25:33):
brag when I start handicapping NFL games when we do
Benny versus the Penny next NFL season, which is coming
right around the corner, Am I gonna be sitting there saying, boy,
I really want to invest in the Colts because of
Carson Wentz. I'm gonna go no at this point. Now,
you can obviously change my mind, but I'll believe it
when I see it. That's the mindset. Be sure to

(25:54):

(26:58):
These are actual questions submitted by listeners like yourself. We
will have a random selection of questions that we will read.
It's Ben and friends. You're gonna ask me anything at all,
Cooper Loop and Eddie and Roberto as well. We don't
normally do sporty ask men. There's more questions about the
show life, things like that, Cooper Loop, what do we

(27:19):
have the Master of Ceremonies And we're gonna start off
with a question for you. Okay, this is from Tammy
and Montana. Hi, Tammy, do you have any type of
comfort food that you go to when your teams lose? No?
I only eat comfort food. People think like my life
is built around where the teams I like win or not.

(27:39):
I don't like if the Clippers won the championship, it
would have been great and I would have been happy.
But it's not like I get any money out of
it or my life is better. It's you know, I
get to watch them play a few more games, but
they'll come back and they'll play again next year and
they'll you know, they'll try it again. It's not like
it ruins my life. And when the Dodgers lost the
World Series, it sucked for a couple days. But again,

(28:00):
it's not like when you come back and they're like,
oh man, it depressed for a month. No, not like
that at all. But I love poutine, chicken fingers. I
have the diet of an eight year old, so whatever
an eight year old would eat, I would eat. All right, next,
all right, this is a question for everybody. This is
from Manic Mike. What is your favorite style of pizza crust? Yeah,

(28:22):
I like a thick, hardy crust. I like it with bubbles.
In fact, if anybody knows how to get bubbles in pizza.
I make pizza at home every week, usually Tuesday or
Wednesday's pizza day at the house. I don't eat much
during the week, but I make a pizza pie and
it's very hard. I love the big bubbles, and most
pizza places do not want the bubbles. That's a sign

(28:43):
of a bad made pizza. But I want to have
a pie made out of mostly bubbles. So I like
a thick crust filled with bubbles. What is Eddie your
favorite crust thin, thick medium where? Yeah, I mean, it's
definitely the crust from the Chicago Deep Pizza. It's like
a pie crust really, it's very flaky, and I mean

(29:03):
usually my experience with with with crust is that it's
something you kind of eat just because it's part of
the pizza. You're not you don't really enjoy it. However,
with the Chicago Deep Dish, you actually look forward to
getting to the crust. That's where we part ways, Eddie.
I get off the highway there. Because I'm a crust hoarder.
I will save the crust as my dessert. At the end,

(29:24):
I will eat the piece and I would lay, especially
if there's a bubble, and then I'll at the very end,
when I'm done eating my pizza, I will then eat
the crust as a reward for a job well done.
That's true. Yes, I've done that since I was a kid.
But you would admit there are better crust than absolutely,

(29:45):
you know. Yeah, yeah, But most of the pizza I
eat these days I make so I kind of make
it the way I like it as much as I can.
But it's hard to get the bubbles. Like I was saying, well,
you really love that bubble. I'm a bubble guy. Bubble Benny,
what about you, Roberto the thin crust because I get
any more pizza, more slice. You know the math on that,
you're not really eating more because the thicker the pizza,

(30:05):
You're eating more pizza when you eat a thicker slice
of pizza. Yeah, but I if if I eat, if
I if I got a thick rust, I'm only gonna
have like more topping. Yeah exactly. That's like an old
Yogi isn't that a Yogi Bear quote? Like I can't
eat all that pizza cut, you know, because it would
cut it into too many slices. Never cut it, can
you know? Anyway? Yeah, Coop, I think I'm gonna have

(30:26):
to go with the the deep dish crust. I've never
had like authentic Chicago style deep dish, so I don't know,
misten out, come on, you got to eat authentic. Yeah.
If you know Chicago is on the on the bucket list,
I need to go there. Yeah, I mean you could
eat it. There's a place down the street from the studio.
It's a Chicago pizza place, but I want it is

(30:46):
it's a Chicago pizza chain. It's no, but it's from
It's the same. It's I've eaten. It's pretty good. There's
one in Vegas too, Coop. They have one that's very good.
It's a Chicago pizza, Loka Deep Dish Pizza. It's right
near Vegas in a couple of weeks, so you should
eat there. But the problem with the deep Dishes it
takes like forty five minutes from the time you order

(31:08):
to get the pie. It's gonna sit around for just
you know, plan on giving it some extra time. It's
worth the weight. Yeah, it's near right near Bally's kind
of there's you know that shopping center in Vegas. Yeah,
across the street from the Bellagio. There's like, yeah, it's
in there. Yeah, I forget the name of it. Oh
they had the Miracle Mile shops. Yeah. Yeah, there's a

(31:30):
location there and then there you see you see there. Yeah,
I'll look it up. I'll look it up. A question
for everyone from alex du Do you remember the first
time you shaved? Uh? No, I remember. It was a
big event. Teaching me how to shave. I remember that
I was a big event in the family. My mom

(31:51):
and dad. You know my mom, of course, Momo, your
dad's gonna show you how to shave. My dad didn't
really want to show me how to shave. He was
kind of on into it. But yeah, I remember that
that whole process. I don't subsistingly remember the first time
I shaved. I just remember it was like a big
event that I was about to shave. What about you, Eddie.
It wasn't like some momentous father's son bonding moment for me,
you know, like, come on, son, I'm gonna show you

(32:12):
how to shave. I did. I don't even really remember
the first time like you did. But yeah, yeah, I'm
so lazy. Now. I have like an electric shaver. If
it gets too bad, I'll just kind of trim it
up a little bit. But I don't actually use a
razor unless it's it's like a holiday or there's some
big family get together. It just I've got the perpetual
stubble going on. Yeah I do too. I have this stubble.

(32:35):
And actually when we moved, I'm living in a temporary
place right now, and we lost all of my shaving arama.
So I had to go on and buy something new
because I can't find it. It's like, I don't worry.
I'm sure i'll find it eventually. But it's I have
no idea where it is. Now, what about you, Roberto not?
I remember it wasn't a big deal either. No, and
I don't shave it. I don't use a razor. Whoa really?

(33:01):
You and Trevor Bauer have something in coming over the
what about you, coop Um, I no longer use a razor,
but I do remember. I do remember the first time
I want to say, I want to say it was
and nobody, nobody ever taught me how. I just kind
of it's kind of figured it out. Yeah, but yeah,

(33:26):
it was in like a ninth or ninth grade or
something like tenth grade. All right, there you go. Let's
pause for the cause it's asked Ben. Your questions are answers.
Keep the questions coming in usually hashtag ask Ben. Hashtag
asked Ben for the rest of the hour. Be sure

(33:47):
to catch live editions of The Ben Maller Show weekdays
at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific, And right back
we go it is ask Ben. Your questions are answers
for the rest of the hour, and over the Cooper Loop,
we go, Cooper, do we have you? All right? Ben?
This is a question for you. Okay, this is from

(34:08):
a Bronco fan on Twitter. Would you let Steve Balmber
grab your inner thigh if you were watching a game?
That's your account? Coop. No, that's from you, Coops that No,
it's not ask Ben from your account? Coop? How dare you?
Steve Balmber is a passionate man and he is very

(34:29):
emotional when he watches the game, and he likes to
grab and touch. You got you gotta grip. You gotta
grip to clip Huh the clip grip? Listen, so it's
called out the clip grip. Yeah, you guys are so jealous.
All right, what is next? What do we have? Al Right? Ben, Shane,

(34:51):
Shane and de Moine wants to know for everybody, what
is your go to food at a movie theater. He's
a nachos and pop kind of guy. The wife goes
classic popcorn. Yeah, I'm a classic. I'm a traditionalist. I'm
a purist. At the movie theater, big bucket, big as
they have with the refill option, and I usually go
M and M's, or if I'm feeling frisky, I'll do

(35:13):
peanut butter cups. What about you, Eddie? I never eat
at the movie theater. As far as buying stuff, there
because it's too expensive. No, you sneak the candy in,
but you eat the popcorn. Pop I'm not a big
popcorn guy. I will sneak in the peanut m and
ms occasionally or something like that, but that's about it. Wow, Eddie.
I mean, I realize you're paying, you know, fifteen bucks

(35:33):
for forty cents of popcorn. But it's good. I'll kill you,
but it's good, yeah, Roberto. Well, I get the large
popcorn and the large drink, and the popcorn's gotta have
lots of butter. Then I get the cheese, get the Halopaniels,
spice it up. Spice it up, yeah, Hallopaniels. Dip the

(35:53):
Hallopaniels and the popcorn and the cheese cheese. Yep. It's
hard to get the popcorn out without making a mess though. Pause. Yeah, okay,
all right, what about you coop a lot. I'm kind
of with Eddie on this. Uh, I'm not a huge
popcorn fan. What do you What do you do when
you open your soda? H Roberto? Um? Yeah, I usually

(36:19):
bring something into the theater, like and I'll even bring
a soda. I'll wait for a loud part in the
in the trailer to crack that open. But and or
I'll bring candy sometimes. But if I were to eat
like movie theater food, I would probably go more towards
like a like a soft petrol or petel bites or
something like that. It's not a bad decision, but I'm

(36:40):
a movie movie person, and I don't go a lot
to the movie, so when I go, it's like a
big deal. Especially, no, none of these the last couple
of years, nobody's been able with the movies that much.
So yeah, I like the popcorn. All right, what is next?
It's asked Ben. Your questions are answers for the rest
of the hour. I'm actually gonna do another question from

(37:01):
Shane and de Moines because I liked this question back
to back in Belly to Belly. That's right. He wants
to know, is there a food from your childhood that
you miss? Not a type of food, but like a brand.
Uh you know, it's still around, but it's not the same.
There used to be like a Hostess shop that was
just like a like an outlet store from Hostess, and
I'd go in there and man, oh man, fat kid

(37:24):
in a bakery. Holy crap, Oh my god. That was
and yeah, have fun members of that. But I don't
think those type of stories around what about you Eddie
anything in particular. I mean, I have not had breakfast
cereal in in years, decades probably, and I eat it
every night after the show, Yeah, every night. Yeah, I
just I don't know. I would love to just get

(37:46):
a box of something. And uh you know, yeah this
this aisle at the store, I know, I know, but
I just I just it's not a part I don't have.
I don't eat breakfast anymore because I don't either, So
I mean, I love breakfast. My wife hates it because
he loves breakfast. Time I eat breakfast when I go
on vacation or something. So yeah, I miss why would
you do we do an overnight show? Why would you

(38:06):
eat breakfast? No reason to eat breakfast? Yeah all right,
mine's easy. I said it many times. The WWF, I
scream ball that's a good man. I miss that thing.
Why do they get rid of that thing? Man? God?
Job by them. I'm I'm having troubled thinking of of
anything that's gone that I that I really miss. Um

(38:28):
As far as brand wise, uh yeah, I don't. I
don't know. There's nothing you're ol coup that you have
no answerable. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

(38:50):
the NHL Stanley Cup Finals right now? I'm not looking
like they'll last very long, Eddie. But we'll see what happens.
Not over yet, Yeah, it is looking like that so far.
We are two games into the Stanley Cup Final with
the Montreal Canadians facing the Tampa By Lightning. Montreal a
huge surprise to be in the final, having the worst
record and fewest points of any team to qualify for
the postseason. Of course, Tampa Bay, no surprise at all,

(39:11):
hasn't defending champs, so I guess it's no surprise. The
Lightning have a two oh series lead. They were dominant
in their Game one win, which was a five one victory.
Montreal did play a lot better in Game two, but
they still lost three to one. As a series now
shifts to Montreal. How are they getting their coach back?
Is their coach next game? He's oh, that's the difference
right there. They'll win because their coach is coming back.
I don't know about that. The Seattle Crackt, speaking of coaches,

(39:33):
have hired their first ever head coach, Dave Hackstell. He
was the former head coach the Philadelphia Flyers. Not mixed
back there in four seasons. They made the playoffs a
couple of times, but lost in the first round time. Yeah,
he should have hired George carl Well. That would have
been an interesting hire. Hackstell long time successful head coach
at University of North Dakota before finally getting a break
in the NHL. And Don Granado is going to remain

(39:54):
head coach of the Buffalo Sabers. He was the interim
coach after Ralph Krueger got fired. They played a little
bit better under him, but they were still the worst
team in the NHL. But he's gonna get a chance
to see what he can do as the full time
head coach in Buffalo. Good luck to him. And there
were reports today that the Arizona Coyotes, who are the
last team to officially fill their coaching vacancy, are gonna
hire veteran NHL assistant and juniors coach Andre Terigny. Never

(40:16):
heard I've actually I've never heard of him either. He
was former head coach of the Ottawa sixty sevens and
an assistant with the Avalanche on the Senators. I don't know,
it's like the forty nine ers. I guess there's some
reference to a gold rushing sixty seven. I will have
to ask old credit card Gordon there. Connor McDavid was
named the Heart Trophy winner as League MVP unanimous selection,

(40:39):
only the second time in hockey history that's happened, as
he was on one hundred percent of the ballots. Wayne
Gretzk the other player to do it. Mark Andre Floury
wins the Vesder Trophy for the top goalie, Adam Fox
of the Rangers, the Norris Trophy for best defenseman, and
Kril capriz Off at Minnesota it's the Calder Trophy as
Rookie of the Year. We had a lot of things
canceled this past season in the NHL because of COVID,
so the league announcing what's coming up for twenty twenty two.

(41:02):
Winner Classic will be in Minnesota, target Field Wild in
the Blues. We're gonna have an outdoor game in Tennessee
at Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans. That's gonna
be the Predators hosting the Lightning that's gonna be in February,
the Winter Classic as of course January the first, and
the NHL All Star Game will be in Las Vegas.
Coming up at team, Are you gonna go to Vegas
for the All Star Games? It's possible. It's possible. We

(41:25):
close it out with a scandal. I know how you
love the scan. Give me the scandal, Eddy, I love
a good scan. According to a lawsuit filed by an
unidentified former Chicago Blackhawks player, this is not a This
is not a kind of scandal. We don't like the scandal.
Brad is this Yeah, this is a this is not
a good one. Brad Aldrich, who is a former video
coach and the team, sexually assaulted the player allegedly during

(41:49):
the twenty ten playoff, runder the Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks
have launched an independent investigation into this. TSN and Canada
reported it last week that the players had reported this
incident to members of the front office of the team,
including current GM Stan Bowman, who's still there, and they
were advised to report it to the police, but they

(42:11):
claimed that never happened. That even more disturbing is that
they apparently, after dismissing bratt Aldrich following the season, wrote
him a letter of recommendation. He ended up getting a
job with a high school team, later a college team,
and he was convicted of sexual assault on a high
school student in twenty thirteen. He was sinced to nine
months in prison five years of probation. He is now

(42:33):
on Michigan's Registry of Sex. Right now, there's a bunch
of lawyers becoming bugeyed eddiet the amount of money they're
going to be able to get out of the Blackhawks. Yeah.
So you know, if they knew about this and they
didn't report it, that's bad. If they wrote this guy
a letter of recommendation, I allowed him to get other
jobs based on that, that's really really bad. So right,

(42:53):
that's your puck. The World Report
