the way tire buying should be well. Right now here,
we are Mike Harmon in the early part of the
third quarter Broncos and the Seahawks. We have seen a
lot of offense from Geno Smith. Yeah, we have what
a time to be alive, I'll tell you yeah, But

(01:07):
we have to ask the obvious question because it is
a hot take Monday, as it has to be overreaction Monday.
Whatever you wanna call it. How screwed has Geno Smith
been for the last eight years and how much did
the Jets hold him back? You can answer either part
of that. The Jets hold Geno Smith organizationally, yes, yes,

(01:31):
of course, but just that it never allowed him to
be truly his Smith. And now we've got first starting
eight years and he comes out here and I'm not
saying he's winging it out all over the place, right
because obviously when we look at the box score, if
you look at the end game box score, you want
to give folks an update on what Geno Smith is.

(01:52):
Sevent team for eight, team for thirty five for a
hundred and sixty four yards and you touched that don't
have to be thirty yard darts, right because we look
at you know, by way of contrast, you've got your
Russell Wilson world where you didn't hear from the wide
receivers and almost on queue I've listened to and heard

(02:14):
Kevin Harland say it, and then Troy Aikman on the
New Monday Night broadcast, Hey, he has a targeted wide
receiver yet and just like that, horribly played ball by
the Seattle secondary and it's the sixties, having yard touchdown
for Jerry Judy. It's almost like Russell Wilson was saying,
blank you Pete. I could have thrown to the tight
end anytime I wanted to. I just didn't watch Jimmy

(02:36):
Graham here, so I didn't throw to the guy, and
I ended Jimmy Graham's career. I ended that career. I
could have thrown to the title Look at these guys
I'm throwing to. Nobody knows who these guys are back
and the Bear still paid a lot of money Jimmy
Graham over the last couple of years. But I could
have done this. But here for Gino, it's like, look deepense,

(02:58):
gonna over pursue a little bit over the top screen
game working, get the tight end involved, as you alluded to.
I mean, there was a lot of opportunity so do that.
They don't need to be big time throws down the field,
just operational efficiency. And you've seen some great work from
the sr Seahawks. Up seventeen thirteen midway through the third quarter,

(03:20):
it has been a really good night for Russell Wilson.
He is sixteen out of one to five through the
air already end that long touchdown past to Jerry Judy
and but both quarterbacks have been playing extremely well. Didn't
have that on my bingo card now. And then you
just had a big goal line stand on a fourth
down play. They gave it to Gordon, couldn't get over No.

(03:42):
So now the Seahawks have the ball at their own ten,
up by four midway through the third quarter. But obviously
the story tonight is how was Russell Wilson going to
be received as he began this game, first game back
in Seattle after the trade. All the talk that's come
out the last few days about Russell Wilson was a diva.
He and Pete Carroll didn't get along. Of course, Russell

(04:05):
Wilson pushed for the trade they finally were able to
consummate a few months ago. How was Russell Wilson going
to be received by the fans when he came out?
I thought, you know, I get the hate, I understand it.
But the guy's the best quarterback in franchise history. And
he won a Super Bowl, and he was at the
second one and it really wasn't his fault. They didn't
win the second one, even though he did throw the pick.

(04:26):
He got the guy again, greatest quarterback in franchise history.
He won a Super Bowl. Yes, the drama behind the
scenes is the drama, but still this is what he's done.
And this was the reaction for Geno Smith. For Geno
Smith react for Russell Wilson. They cheered everywhere name dayway.
As soon as he threw that first touchdown to Disley

(04:46):
was Geno Geno'm like, what is happening in the world? Healthy?
Will Disley? See what it does for your offense? They're
just happy he knows what time it is good, but
make sure he gets he might have been there hours before.
What I get to the I just like Baker Mayfield,
he sleeps at the stadium, but he's he's a new
guy taking over that commercials. So this was the reaction

(05:08):
for Russell Wilson when he took the field. That's it's
just booing. It's just booing. Obviously we heard the Nats
sound and being able to lay out for it, which
was awesome. Uh that was not uh some booze sat No, No,

(05:32):
that was direct booing. That was not hey half and half.
Some people liked it, some people that No, No, this
was direct booing of Russell Wilson, which I I honest
Like I said, I was surprised because I thought that's
how the fans were going to see it. But the
crowd is extremely charged up, and and and I understand it.

(05:52):
I understand the negativity because now everybody is always mad
about everything, all right. That that's the thing now about
our country is where everybody, everybody wakes up for a
reason to want to be mad about something. I want
to be mad. Do you want to be happy? No,
I want to be mad. I want even so of course,
the fans coming to this game, I want to be
mad at Russell. I'm not coming to this game so
I could cheer Russell Wilson. I'm coming this game so

(06:14):
I can boo the crap out of him. Boo. I'm
so full of hate. I'm full of hate. I got
lightning coming out of my fingertips. I want to deal
with eight. So I'm gonna boo Russell Wilson. So I
get it. And it's kind of fun and it's insane,
and the atmosphere was unbelievable. So, like I said, I
get it, and it was fun. I'm just like, the
guy was the best quarterback you ever had, I mean

(06:35):
one if he didn't win anything, I get like, if
he was good and he felt short and the only
super Bowl they got to was the one wee threw
that pick you never want. We paid you all that money.
I can't believe, no, all the but the guy came.
He was the best and one at all and still
we're so glad we got radio. I get really surprised

(06:56):
that that was it, but that so we are we
want to boom out. Everybody wants to be mad about stuff.
I saw so much rolling in my timeline of the
incredulity of it, all of oh my god, how could
they do this? To that? To your point, and you
know what, they all were sycophantic media members. Okay, yes
he was a great but if you believe one tenth

(07:17):
of everything that came out about the last two years,
he won a super No, no but that. But then
he told us blank you we don't. I don't want
to be here anymore. So as a fan, you take
offense to that. And I can understand, sure, right, personal relationships,
do you just say, oh, that was a good run. No,
you're still pissed when they When there's a breakup, it

(07:39):
may be a short breakup. You might be mad at
yourself for staying long enough that you had to do
the breaking up. I'm still more mad at Pete Carroll
for not giving the ball to Marshall than I am
about Russell Wilson wanting up. There's no question, however, however
he could all by the way. He is a quarterback
with a super Bowl in his back. Good changes that

(08:01):
change the play. I'm gonna throw this and then dealt
with Pete later. The old man's lost it. Look, I'm
taking the ball and I'm going to do what I want.
It's it's people people want to be I just want.
I don't think it's about they wanted this, just wanted
to be mad. I gotta go to this game wise
so I can boo the crap out of Russian Wilson
and get out all the frustrations of what's going on

(08:22):
in my life. And didn't take it home, I will
get it out on And if they got it out
on Russ, that means they didn't take it home, they
didn't take it into the office. They weren't doing in traffic.
They got to lustily boo a guy while sipping a
drink at a football game. There's other things to do
in Seattle. Come on, man, Hey, come on man, going on. Look, Hey,

(08:43):
the Mariners just won a couple of really big games
this week. That's gonna end. Yeah, well, wow, we've seen
it before. You gonna say you can say, are you
gonna say with a team moving? Is that what you're
gonna say? Wow? Yeah, I thought you were going to
throw back with the exception of one run. How how
well playoff and divisions have worked out. See that was

(09:05):
your comeback and you didn't take it. Terrible job by you.
But but I understand this. I like I you could
have done the golf clap. That's fine and then boo him. Right,
all right, he gets the announcement, but once we're in game,
we boom. But you know what, how you gonna coordinate
that with seventy thousand people, sixty nine thousand whatever. Hey, guys,

(09:27):
here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna give him a
little bit of respect, and then once he really comes
out there, we're gonna let him have it once he's undersetting.
Not a hell with that. I'm glad they leaned into it.
Good for them. Yeah, but look, but even you look
when Brady, you know, Brady's whole thing was okay, all right, yeah,

(09:48):
but but he wasn't. There was no way you could
set him up. Is the bad guy Russell Wilson for
the most part, No, that's just believing who you want
look is. But that's what that's. But that's the pore believing.
I'm believing. I want to believe the narrative of Pete Carroll,
even though he surely has to take responsibility for half
the suffast. Look, even if it's a he said, he said,

(10:11):
you know, he lost all credibility in that regard when
he pled like a rat when things were going out
at USC. Okay, that's he's coming. Hey, hey, you know what,
the NFL has been calling me for a couple of
years ago. I always wanted to coach in the NFL.
And you know you don't gonna go wear anybody who
wants to hire me. I'll go anywhere, I really will.
I'll go. I'll go to Seattle, and you know I

(10:32):
will stay there and I'll stay there for a long
And now he's got a lot of power. Anybody else
might have been fired. So I'm buying the narrative of
it's all rustic and it's gets a pie chart and
who you believe or want to believe more? And who
are you gonna be more mad at? The nameless faceless

(10:53):
or the guy that said I'm done with you when
the game starts. The game starts and you're booing the
crap out him, And because it's about the front of
the jersey, not about but walking on the field, Guy's like,
oh dude, come on, I mean real, I mean, how
are you ever going to be happy? Because I think
about that? Think about that as a fan. How are
you ever going to be happy when the guy, Hey,
think about this, when the guy who brought you all

(11:15):
the joy you've ever had as a fan in the Seahawks. Right, Okay,
that's a long Sean alexanand that millennials don't even know
who Sean Alexander is. You gotta explain you, guys, playing
sweetche on Alexander Alabama for a guy who has given
you the greatest memories that you will have as a fan. Nope,

(11:36):
I want to torch those memories and boo them crap
out for the ride is what most. I want to
hate him, That's what I want to do. But what
about all those great things? What about the great thing? Hey, hey,
what jersey is he wearing today? When the game starts,
it's different when the game starts. Okay, that's when it's

(11:58):
about me versus you, and that's where I'm going to
kick your ass. Okay, I get it. But as a fan, it's, hey,
how are you? That's what I mean about. People always
want to be angry. You gotta find some kind of
joy and you got okay joy. But joy is an emotion.
So is hate. So is a lot of it. There's

(12:19):
to throw all the inside. There's there's there's anger and fear.
There's fear, and there's pain and sadness. Yes, and then
they brought in the cats at the end were just
standing on everything. There's all these so that it is
an emotion, but that that's as a fan, Nope. I
want to blowtorch everything I have and on the last
twelve years don't matter. I want to boo Russell Wilson.

(12:40):
So now winning the Super Bowl, I have a bad
taste in my mouth because I want to boot Russell.
It's like, come on, okay, Mr Helper, who gave you
the last two opportunities to be happy? As a Jets fan.
Joe Namath, no tryan and Mark Sanchez, because you actually
got into a conference time again. Stand it's been abject

(13:01):
failure time and I'm telling you got a coach that
you want fire. No, I'm hey, you know what you
got promoted above above your lovel of competency here, so
you're doing You've done the same thing you've done. Nothing
would knock that you With those guys, I'm telling I
follow the Larry David philosophy from curb your enthusiasm of

(13:23):
I've only enjoyed one season nineteen sixty nine is a
judge fan that in the one year partselves is a coach,
but every other year I haven't been able to enjoy
that's and the one year portselvesica. Uh yeah, no, no,
all of you are correct about all of that, but
Russell Wilson is different. Be sure to catch live editions

headed to the fourth quarter in Seattle, and shockingly, the
Seahawks are gonna enter the fourth quarter most likely unless
Geno Smith throws a pick six. Hey hey, sorry with
the lead as Seattle is up seventeen thirteen over the
Broncos here on Monday Night football. Geno Smith one out

(14:31):
of five for one and two touchdowns, Russell Wilson seventeen
out of twenty three to eight and to score. So yeah,
both quarterbacks both just like we thought. Both quarterbacks playing
great tonight. Two huge stops by the Seahawks thow at
the goal line. Joining us now on the hot line

(14:52):
Odyssey NFL Inside. A long time friend of the show,
you can follow my Twitter at Jason locking for It
is Jason locking for Jay. Are you surprised we got
the big booze for Russell Wilson the beginning of the game.
I mean, I I kind of him. Um, I don't know,
like I've spent a little bit of time in Seattle. Um,

(15:15):
I kind of feel like it's a somewhat progressive fan base.
And they had a decade with a guy who was
a third round pick right out of Wisconsin who they
gave at the time. I want to say they gave
Matt Flynn. It was over ten million dollars guaranteed, right,
it was. It was pretty big money at the time. Yeah,

(15:38):
it was like four years and ten millions something like that.
And I'll never forget. I was at UM. I actually
had lunch with John Sneiner, their GM in Denver, and
I went to the print and you know, I was
just I didn't know much about Russell Wilson, and he's like, yeah,
we're gonna play this kid a lot tonight, like we
think he's pretty good. And t O was actually, I'll

(15:59):
never get you was on the on the roster at
the time. And Russell throw an amazing ball like downfield,
like I don't know, I felt like sixty five yards
in the air. And again this is at Denver, so
altitude and everything else, maybe even seventy and it went
right through Tio's arms. But I'm like, damn, I see
what they were saying about this cat. And you kind

(16:22):
of walked out of the I had the same feeling
Dak Prescott's first game that I saw the l A
call seem like you walked out of there and you're like,
I don't really care where they drafted this guy. And
I know it's a preseason game, but that dude looks
like a starting quarterback to me. Like that, that dude's
gonna play a long time in the league. Now. I
didn't necessarily think he was gonna playoffs every freaking year
and you know, be a Super Bowl, m v P

(16:43):
and all that. But I was like, yeah, I think
Matt Flynn's in trouble because you could give Matt Flynn
three attempts and he ain't throwing the ball in a
dime as far as Russell just threw it, you know
what I mean, Like you could be like a Part
three chorus, like you could play frisbee golf with him
or whatever, and he still ain't getting it there, and
shame on to for dropping it. And I think they
dropped like I think they cut t o the following

(17:04):
Monday and like elevated Russ to number one on the
Dutch Chuck and the rest was history. So for all
he did there, I'm a little surprised to be honest
with you. Um, look, they didn't want to pay him again,
you know, and he's in his he's got two years
left on the deal, and he's got a seventy year
old head coach who just wants to run the ball.
And it had been coming to a head for a

(17:28):
while and I had chronicled it for a long time
and other people had. But I mean, it was a
great run. He turned their franchise around. He took them
to levels they've never gone to before and almost did
it twice. And he didn't make the play call. You know.
That's that's screwed him when they did lose to New England.

(17:48):
I mean that. You know, I understand he threw the past,
but Malcolm Butler jumped that thing. So yeah, I mean,
I guess a little bit. Um, But what a crazy game, huh.
I mean, I I don't know too many people who
I didn't know what to expect for this game. And
I told people lay out, I wouldn't bet fifty cents,
let alone fifty bucks on this one. Like I need

(18:09):
to see both these teams in my own eyes to
get a handle on them. That was a hell of
a half of football from Geno Smith though, that's for sure.
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon here, Fox Sports Radio,
Jason Locke and for Our Gas. Find him on Twitter
at Jason lock and for UH and Jason. Let's move
to Lamar Jackson and the massive day he had two

(18:29):
thirteen three scores beating down the Jets, then showing up
UH to read the children and hanging out at schools
asking them what they're gonna be when they grow up,
and then having some pretty pointed comments when asked about
the future and what's going on here with this contract.
I don't think I've ever heard anybody be nearly as fourth, Right,
what'd you take away from week one? Well, look, I

(18:52):
wish the owner here, like you know, like respect, it
understood the changing dynamics of compensating quarterbacks the way that
I do and most smart football people do. Otherwise this
would have been done when Josh Allen signed his deal,
you know, before the start of two seasons ago. Now, um,

(19:14):
but this owner doesn't and he won't, and like I
don't understand what I guess the end game is for
Steve Bishatti, because like I think, you know, it was
cute this thing he did with Flacco right this game
of chicken where they had a deal done with Flacco

(19:36):
and then it fell apart over like two million dollars
and unguaranteed money and like the fifth year of the
extension and his agents said bleep you. Ozzy said bleep you.
And the agent said bleep you. And he got in
his car and he drove back to Connecticut and Flacco
played it out and then he won a Super Bowl,
and then Bashatti, for a moment in time, made him
the highest paid player in the history of the league,

(19:56):
and then a bunch of people leap frogged him. But
like if that how Bashati thinks, like it's it has
to work. Like if he truly thinks, um, yeah, you
gotta win a Super Bowl from me before I pay
you what you're worth, he's out of his freaking mind.
You know, look at what Kirk Cousins got by playing
out the franchise tag, and Kirk Cousins is in a

(20:17):
fraction of what Lamar Jackson is. But you know, that's
what Patty said at the owners meetings, first time he
talked in like three years. You know, hey, I don't
think that's a good way to do business. Well, guess
what that That's how the Browns did business, and that's
how this quarterback expects you to do business. And if
you don't want to pay him what he's worth, somebody

(20:38):
else will. And if you want to give him twenty
three million fully guaranteed this year and then forty forty
four whatever it's going to be next year on the tag,
then if you tag him after that, you know, fifty
two and he walks, you could play that game. But
I think Lamar Jackson be traded before the draft next year.
I mean, he look thick like this doesn't happen. But

(21:00):
think about quarterbacks this generational guys who in their age
twenty two season were unanimous m v ps. I mean,
Kyler fricking Murray got paid. Did he get paid because
he's anything close to Lamar Jackson? No, he got paid
because he's better than Daniel Jones, and he's better than
he Just go down the list of Josh Rosen, who

(21:21):
they took tenth overall right a year before they took
Kyler Murray, and he's better than all these other guys.
And you only get so many swings at this. It's
it's mind boggling that it's got to this stage where
this kid who's done everything and more they could have
possibly hoped for when they took him thirty second overall,

(21:41):
is playing for peanuts again. Um. And yeah, there's a
risk on his part injury, YadA, YadA, YadA. But I'm
on enough to remember Dak Prescott getting hurt, barely playing
a season and getting eight million dollars a year more,
you know, in the long term extension than what Jerry
was offering before he got hurt. So you know, I

(22:03):
don't think someone who lives in this city and saw
what Ravens football was becoming before he got here. Um,
it's just a shame that Baltimore probably won't get to
enjoy Lamar Jackson for the length and breadth of his career.
But disowner who has been perpetually in the bottom ten
in the league and spending on payroll, and who just

(22:24):
got a six million dollar handout from the state of
Maryland to upgrade a stadium that he didn't pay a
g D thing for in the first place, to inherit,
he don't want to pay the kids, So whatever, Hey,
I'm with you on the trade next year before the draft,
and I'm I'm looking at the Jets. Just so hey,
speaking of quarterbacks, no Dak Prescott now for at least
the next six to eight weeks. Cooper Rush is going

(22:47):
to take over. There have been calls for Jimmy Garoppolo.
There have been calls for Colin Kaepernick, there have been
calls for Roger Stallback. What is what is the immediate
future for the Dallas Cowboys? All? What what are you
seeing after after the injury last night? Yeah? Um, look,
I'm enough to remember Jerry Jones blaming the news. Remember

(23:07):
Denucci and he crapped all over the kid like he
was the reason they lost. And then they moved on
and you know, uh did what they you know, whatever
they could do to find somebody else. He's not gonna
let Cooper Rush torpedo his season. Um and and in

(23:27):
his mind, I think that's probably how he's looking at it.
I would actually call the Baltimore Ravens and try to
acquire Tyler Hartley, to be honest with you, who looked
pretty good filling in for Lamar a year ago. A
year ago, looked great in the preseason this year. But
you might beat him next year. I don't know they
they might. It was I mean, it wouldn't be It
wouldn't be like the easiest trade in the world to make.
But you've building enough contingencies for how much he plays,

(23:50):
and you know it could be done. I mean, look,
I would go sign Josh Johnson off with Denver's practice
squad tomorrow. Um, Jimmy, he's not getting traded. Jimmy's will
be starting for the forty niners in a couple of weeks. Like,
I'm a little bit surprised Jimmy didn't come in a halftime. Uh,
they didn't restructure that whole thing to have protection for

(24:10):
this kid to save the season because they know Trey
Lance ain't really ready to then go trade him for
what afford to Jerry, so Jerry can have insurance for
half a season until that comes back. No, I think
you got to be more more realistic about what what
sort of the options are and and who could fill in.
But um, to meet Josh Johnson is a guy who's

(24:31):
kind of done this before. Um, if this had happened
in July, could I see Jerry trying to call Drew
Brees or something like that. I could, But there's not
enough time. Now you know that's probably back and again,
it's it's gonna be half a season, and to bring
somebody in from the outside who hadn't been in somebody
else's camp, who isn't already in shape. I just think
is is a tough ask, um. And even when when

(24:55):
when the forty nine is acquired Garoppolo, remember he sat
like a months before we played, just to try to
learn the system in the middle of the year. So look,
they weren't a very good team with Dak Prescott, that's
the reality. Uh, and they're going to be a really
bad team without him. Jason last one real quick coming
out of Week one. Obviously we got this game as

(25:16):
we were chatting about it the what's your what's your
biggest takeaway or surprised from Week one? Um, well, I
look at takeaway is the fact that so many of
these young rookie head coaches had some immediate success in
the league that where they usually get their heads torn off.

(25:36):
And I think a lot of that probably has to
do with the fact that they're so vastly different from
the guys who ran those teams previously in a lot
of positive ways. Um. I don't want to go crazy
about Week one stuff because Green Bays look like crap
in week one before, but like if you were to
tell me that this goes down the drain and Jordan's

(25:58):
Love ends up playing the last three week of the
year because they got to get a look at him,
and you know, Mr Peyote or what is his drug
car or whatever the hell he was to Hiawatha whatever Hiawaka,
I have right here. It's I Miste Adams. That's what
it is, exactly, exactly Tomato, Tomato. If you told me

(26:22):
he walked off, you know, into the sunset like kung Fu.
At the end of the year, they got issues. As
all I'm gonna say, I was, I love the futures
that Minnesota will win that division, and I don't want
to go crazy over one week, but Packers might have
to win a whole bunch of games. Seventeen fourteen, all
of a sudden, he's on Twitter at Jason lock and

(26:42):
for that is at Jason Lock and fora at work
right now on five thousand words on Garrett Trade or
potentially being the new Josh Allen. So I'll look forward
to that when you have been ready to publish that. Yeah,
it'll be sometime in seven. Thank you. There he goes, No, dude,
I'm telling you man, Garrett Traders, legit man, the next

(27:08):
bone up on the running back? What Sean Murphy is him? Uh? Hey, look,
the whole deal with with uh to go back to
Lamar Jackson with with this is that you know, we've
told you for a long time the Ravens aren't going
to sit around with an unhappy quarterback when clearly neither
side wants to commit to the other. Right, the Ravens

(27:29):
don't want to get into him for a long term
because how long is he going to have as an
elite quarterback until his body breaks down? Because he runs
the ball so much. We've seen the best of him,
and this is where we are. We're a decent team
that has a chance with him, But are we an
elite super Bowl team. We're not. So they're gonna play
it out and they're not going to continue to to
to franchise him. They see what the the ransom was

(27:51):
for Russell Wilson. Hey, look, we got first round picks,
we got players, we got we can restart this team.
That's what they're going to do. And they're gonna say, Okay,
rut it's gonna be the Russell Wilson Sweepstakes last year.
This is gonna be the Lamar Jackson Sweepstakes this offseason.
And we're gonna want more for him because he's a
younger quarterback. He's better. Now you're going to have to
give him money, a lot of money. So that's gonna

(28:11):
be part of the deal. But still, you saw what
teams are pulling up for quarterbacks knowing they have to
pay them. Uh, somebody's gonna say, yes, I'm desperate, we
love Lamar Jackson. We're gonna go get him. And if
you're smart, you're gonna say, hey, Lamar, instead of seven
years without, how about we're gonna give you like four
years and two hundred and fifty million years, will guarantee
everything for the next four years because we can't get

(28:33):
into a thing where in seven we're looking at deadcat
money just in case something happens, because you gotta be
realistic with your style of play. So if a team
wanted to do that, hey awesome. But yeah, in next spring,
it's gonna be the Lamar Jackson Sweepstakes. Yeah, we had
the report that he reportedly turned out a package worth
two hundred fifty million dollars but that the guarantees were

(28:55):
some hundred thirty three or they're about given. Even if
you want to throw Deshaun Watson's deal completely out the window, which,
as we talk about outliers on the high and low
Brady's contract, Deshaun Watson's in terms of operating for every
other team, one thirty three is still lower than the
last couple of guys that got paid who haven't done

(29:16):
what Lamar Jackson has done. Period. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports
Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harman.
Six and a half to go on the fourth quarter,
Seahawks lead the Broncos seven team to six team. See

(29:37):
what's getting the football back? Another big goal line stand
by the Seahawks defense has them with a one point
lead and hoping Geno Smith can bring this up. We
love more in this game coming up in a few minutes.
But with Week one of the NFL in the books,
great visit, Thank you from Jason Lock and Forest stopping by.
There's certain things we've seen that really stand out. One
of the biggest games yesterday, we watched a brand new

(29:57):
head coach become a legend. It can happen in one
week when you make calls like this to nineteen Giants
going for two. Jones in a shotgun set through the
receivers right, Barkley to the left of Jones. Jones and
James in motion. Jones takes the snap, rolls right, shovel
pass for Barkley. Barkley in for the two point conversion,

(30:20):
you know, a little shovel pass the Sake one, and
then he did the rest taking on defenders and the
Giants have the league one twenty with the one oh
six to go. That's playing the win there, Bob Hey, Jason, Yeah,
when's your apology to sake Kwon Barkley? Is one game?
One game for Sae Kwon Barkley. It's it's one game
he's really I really like seeing the explosiveness he's got

(30:43):
four years he's got explained. Okay, one game is won.
The Giants radio network on the call, the two point
conversion by Brian Dable helps win the game for the Giants.
One of the biggest marquee games yesterday, uh the watch
Bullock miss a field goal that could have won the
game for the tight and you know, I'm I'm, I'm
serious about this because you know it pains me when

(31:04):
I gotta sit here and go Now, I gotta watch
the Giants. I gotta watch the Giants be the talk
of the town again. Um. Brian Dable already is the
best new head coach in the NFL after one game,
because I know the guy can coach. So you know
a comparison is coming. I watch I've watched him the
last few months. Come in. Everything is new to him
as a first time head coach. Right. There was no

(31:25):
big additions to the team. If anything, it was how
long can you stick with Daniel Jones? How long can
you stick with Sae Kwon Barkley, who was gonna be
your receivers as Kadarius Tony even going to play as
Darling Shepard gonna be healthy. All they had was questions
on the roster throughout camp. There were no expectations. And
they go on the road and they win a gritty
opener against a good team. He's got a gutsy two

(31:47):
point call that's made him a legend already. He's dancing
with the players in the locker room after the game.
I know he's good. I know he's a good head coach.
Certain guys are made out to be head coaches. I
know after one game he's a head coach. And he's
someone that will that will succeed with the Giants and
then whatever happens, because you know, coaches don't stay with
the same team forever. He will succeed there, he will

(32:08):
succeed someplace else. Some people just get it. And he's
got everything. He has pushed all the right buttons. And
it's his first bleep in season, right, And I watched this,
and I go and I look across town to Robert
Salo today saying I'm taking receipts for everybody who says
the Jets stink. And I'm sitting here going, come on, man,
all I have is watch you show that you're not
up for the job, right, I gotta watch Robert Salo.

(32:30):
Over the past year. Now, all we're told was the
draft was so great for the Jets. Okay, hey, we're good.
All preseason long, we're good. We're good. We're a good team.
What did I watch yesterday? A bad offensive line there's
been fixed seventeen different times. All the new players that
came in, all the playmakers making mistakes, too many penalties,
players that had doesn't have enough fire on offense. According

(32:51):
to Joe Flacco, they would get past midfield and guys
in the hut will be like, okay, whatever, let's go
get points. I've I've watched this. I watched the team
that's not ready and continues to say the same things
we make. We we're killing ourselves with our own mistakes.
You know what, dude, that is on you. That is
on you. And I've told you. I've watched Robert Sala
and I say the guy is in over his head.
And every day I say the same thing. Every day

(33:14):
he gives me more evidence that he's in over his head.
Today I'm taking receipts. We made this mistake. Stop with
the excuses. The Jets haven't been good for ten years.
You're in the you're in the second party, your second year,
you had a whole year to figure things out, and
you got the roster you wanting. Still, it's mistake after mistake.
And I watched Brian Dable with a much worse roster
and a team that just stinks. Because the Giants stink.

(33:36):
That roster stinks, and they go on the road and
they win a game over a team that many people
predict could be a division winner or a playoff team
that is very, very talented. So I'll tell you, I
know Brian Dable is a good head coach, and I
look at my head coach, and I go, am I
waiting for the next head coach? Now? I really I
think I might be waiting for the next head coach,
which maybe this year and one more year because and

(33:57):
so it's almost like it's with Adam Gates again. To
be fair, we had this conversation in the off season
that this was likely going to be the case. He
just keeps opening his mouth and while adding on to
it from injury reporting and letting the cat out of
the bag on stuff uh inadvertently in press conferences and
wanting to fight the world. I like the energy I do.

(34:19):
That only gets you so far right, right, the ra
ra hype you up kind of thing, whereas you got
Dable on the other side, right, and day Balls of
Steel was the back page of course coaches gutsy two
point call and see Juan's monster day Spark Giants in shocker.

(34:40):
All right, well, you still gotta figure out what's going
on with the rest of those first round picks, Tony
and and what you did and paid all this money
for all these other guys. But if you've got a
guy that can run the football and you and you
want to lean in on that, and that's what he did, right.
He showed belief in his guys. All right, Joe Flacco
gives you what the feel of the locker room is
with his comments, all right, we're here, fine whatever the

(35:04):
first game, but he already exposed that team for what
it is going coming off the emotion of nine eleven,
and even John Harbaugh said, hey, we knew we had
to survive the first quarter against this Jets team because
they were gonna be flying, and they were. But what
happened in the first quarter they were winning three nothing.
I mean that that that's what we got. That was
that was surviving. Hey, we're winning this game. Conversely, every
big play during the game, long before the two point

(35:27):
conversion or any of that, any positivity, Dable was in
the middle. Hugs head slaps all of that stuff up
and down the sideline. I want to go defense. I
want to go for two. Are you okay with it? Yeah? Coach,
He's figured out he's figured out how to be head coaching.
One look and one thing that was great, and we
referenced it with Jason Lacker. Six head coaches, six new

(35:49):
guys won with Hackett hanging in the balance, here is
potentially lucky number seven. I mean, that's an amazing thing
to do, because you gotta give a little bit of
credit to uh the wess are down there in Miami
as well. Twitter at how about a fresca Mike gets
swollen doumb the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike.
You didn't even fire Matt rule. Yeah, well we have
