(00:23):
Smith Show with Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio. I
got your trumpet right here, yo, bitch on the way
God him swinging strack pray and the Braves beat the
Mets again, Braves one at Florida two. Then again. Here's
the thing you got mocked by Elton John in a

(00:44):
concert too. Here's the thing I'm never never going to
see him again? Blank him. It's here next month. Yeah no, no,
it'll be brilliant. Normally I would be upset about the Mets.
I'd be very upset, and it would be one of
those nights. However, I mean one of those nights for
the other reason. I'd rather have it be misery. However,
the Jets one in an incredible fashion. Fire Tom on

(01:07):
eight seven seven The Jets are ending the careers of
Mitchell Trabinsky and Mike Tomlin and everybody else in Pittsburgh.
After that win, Jets, Jets, Jets, and nothing else matters.
The Jets one. Zack Wilson had a career changing drive
at the end of that game. Jets when nothing else matters,

(01:31):
doesn't matter, makes no difference everything else. Yeah, the Jets
beat this weird ending careers every single week. Jets, Jets, Jets,
doesn't matter. Two and two on our way to fifteen
and two. Jets Jets, Jets, doesn't matter. Everything else, that's fine, whatever, Mets,
Louise Danta, Zack Wilson perfect on the final drive, Jets win.

(01:53):
Change a quarterback for the Steelers. You want to change it,
head coach. The Jets are ending everything. The Jets are enders.
We will end you. We are next week it's gonna happen.
They're gonna fire Mike McDaniel after the Jets win thirty
eight nothing. They're gonna cut Petty Bridgewater for his uh
ousting after Friday's breasts. Tyreek Hill is gonna say no, no,
I'd rather go back there. Even though there's lots of

(02:14):
taxes in New York why I signed with the Dolphins.
We are going to end careers every single week. We're
gonna end ten years, We're gonna end drop, We're gonna
end everything. It's a very Monday because a lot of
what you're taking out of Week four's NFL games is
whatever narrative you wanted to push if you wanted Kenny Pickett,
and how many times did you see it? I want

(02:35):
I would love honesty put Tom Linn and Matt Canada
and everybody on a polygraph that you were gonna put
him in the second half, right. That was that was
planned because you told us in the in all our
conference meetings, and which is why we kept showing him
and talking about him. But I riddle me this, batman,
if Deante Johnson gets his feet down instead of stepping

(02:56):
on the end up the middle, do we see Kenny Pickett. Yeah?
You know, here's the thing I told you about Kenny Pickett.
I told you the over under I'm not I'm not doing.
I'm not doing to you four hours. I told you
October one was the over runner for Kenny Pickett, and
I missed it by a day. But here's the thing.
I don't care because the Jets one. Well it was

(03:17):
I mean October because he didn't get his foot down
in the Jets one. No, no, but he didn't get
the narrative. And everybody, Oh, he threw a couple of interceptions,
but they were tip balls, like it was the one
that it was a terrible pass. Dude, I'm sorry. Mitchell
Trabinsky by the Jets, I'm sorry, it's happened. It's happened.

(03:38):
Let me explain. It's not a Mitchell Trobinsky thing. It's
just no, no, no, it's just the laughability of how
people want to do things to fit their narrative. If
anybody else, oh, it's off the hands, like, no, that's
the quarterback in this case. Well no, I mean he
can't fault to him. It was, yes, I can. If
you're gonna do it to that guy, you gotta be
fair and do it together. Zach Wilson balls off the

(03:59):
guy his hands. Whose fault is it? Although with his
headband wearing thing and run around and the inability of
the Steelers defense to overtake what is arguably one of
the worst makeshift lines in in football right now. But
Viva on the floor because Mike Tomlin and his staff
couldn't figure it out. Where's Dick Clopo when you eat him?

(04:20):
I got a narrative for you, Jets win, No, they did.
I got a narrative for you Jets win. You want
to talk about. You had the game in your Handts,
Zack Wilson has the ball. Your defense, which is your pride, right,
Mike tom On, defensive coach, It's time time to your
defense to make one stand. Jets Jets, Jets. Jets can't
get a stop because the Jets, because the Jets are

(04:41):
too good, because Zack Wilson is too I like watching
them run around. Chick didn't result a lot of stuff
in the half. In the second half of Like Extends
plays TV receivers. Eventually this could be interesting. You're gonna
live a lot off script, but you're gonna be fun
to watch. Now, I'm gonna tell you something. We'll get
to the rams in the forty Niners coming up in
a couple of no home runs by Aaron Judge tonight,

(05:03):
everything is fine. Uh, it was a This is why
I'm so excited, because yes, am I a little bit
overly excited. Yeah, but you know what, when I see
wins by my team. I want to celebrate them, especially
when we're five hundred in October for the first time
since Rex Ryan was one back to back road games
for the first time. I mean, look, you find your wins.

(05:24):
We talked about it all all the time, right, we
all have anniversaries. They're not always positive, but you you
take your lessons and you move forward and you you
take little victories. In this case, you literally got a
victory for your New York Football Jets, and I saw
an s in the rank. Weird, buddy, I'm telling you.

(05:45):
Although the Bets got voided that and avoided all bets,
people were looking. They were getting ready to lick those
bills and catch out. This may be as good as
it gets. Syracuses ran one. The Jets are two and two.
This is hi watermark for me. Yeah, who did the
Jets got? Next week, we have Teddy two Gloves on

(06:05):
Sunday coming to MetLife. Wow, his career is over. Next
week We're gonna we're gonna we're ending everybody's career where
and people are gonna be on the unemployment line, They're
gonna be cut. We're doing it to everybody. We ended.
We ended Trabiskie We're gonna end Tomlin. It's like it's
like a prize fight. Now I'm gonna end you. I'm
gonna end you. You're going to some don king stuff.
Now I'm gonna end you. Then you're gonna mummify them

(06:26):
in receipts. Don't come in here. Wait, well I'm gonna pay.
It's gonna be like you went into CVS and you
bought like four things. That's how many receipts you're gonna get.
What's all that on your wall? Receipts? No, but let
me just say this. It was a This is why
I'm so overly excited is that it was a career
defining drive at the end by Wilson against the Steelers.

(06:48):
It was he walks into the huddle and says, we're
going to get a blanket touchdown, and they get it
and he's perfect on the final drive. And it was
an ugly game, but the Jets went in. Now suddenly,
hey me, eb Zack Wilson is that guy where eyes
for the longest time. No, he's not, he's not. They're
forcing him into a bad system. And am I buying

(07:08):
too much into one game? Absolutely one, I'm buying too
much into one game, but I don't care. Two and
two Jets and we're ending career. We're gonna we couldn't
win and steal. We wanted Pittsburgh twice now in like
the last sixty years. No, Now, we're coming for everybody.
We're coming for all of We're coming for Dan Marino.
You watch we do to Dan Marino next week. You

(07:29):
just watch. You got the Dolphins at home, and then
you go on the road to Lambo. You watch Aaron
Rodgers take care of it. Wait, wait, and then you
get rid of the guy who's really terrible and his
team stinks. You're on the road at Denver. Here you go, Oh,
Nathaniel Hackett. That's the over runner for him getting fired.
Use the Jets in that game. They're gonna trade Russell Wilson.

(07:49):
After that, that's it, it's over. We're we're million dollar
guy was supposed to come in and help them for
we are. We are ending teams. Watch out if you
are on our list. But in all seriousness, going back
to Wilson for a second, there was a lot to
take from the game because he eat, he was under duress.
They can get to him and a couple of plays

(08:09):
he extended and smartly just got rid of the football
as soon as he was out of the tackle box.
That was footage that everybody should be watching across the
NFL because we see moronics sacks being taken by veteran
quarterbacks on the regular So for Zack, Wilson showed good
a field to wear and kept players alive. And you've
got speedsters down field, you've got a couple of guys

(08:30):
out of the backfield. As soon as Carter and Haul
can can catch the ball out of the backfield a
little bit, you're gonna have some big players. You're gonna
have a lot of yak opportunities. I just think you
gotta find five guys you can trust in front of
him lest he be broken in half. But beyond that,
man getting out gritty thing. Yeah yeah, well come on,

(08:54):
that was like but there was months a man, they
ran the Philly Special in Pittsburg. It's like a double
oh man that now we got Philadelphia. You know, I
didn't like when the Jets ran that play. It was
wasn't right. I had to go to Wawa for a
HOGI after because that wasn't right. And they ran that
play against us back in state and all it is
you know you were This is Penguins town, this is

(09:16):
this is this is not Flyers down, this is Penguins. Yeah,
we're hungry now, no, go go get hogies? Well get
yeah great? How how did they not have that out here? That?
And I need some BUCkies. He works on Sunday work
Sunday mornings at Bucky Brooks. Where you find him Fox

(09:37):
Sports dot com, NFL dot com. He's everywhere Jack Sideline,
Jag Sideline, of course, but um Bucky's is mostly in
Texas and and the surrounding states. But it is the
greatest truck stop slash convenience store, barbecue, you name it,
you can find it there. You're a trucker or you're
going cross country driving. You need to shower. Go get

(10:00):
a shower for a shower and go. Yeah no, I'm
gonna get a hog and then a shower. But they
fresh made sandwich. I need some sand sandwich. Sandwich is
to go. I want that horse radish cheddar cheese on it.
If you can put it on there for me, whiz
with give me some horse radish cheddar wit and horse
radish chitar without. I just had to watch the Jets

(10:20):
beat the Steelers. I'm not happy. This is not this
is not a good time for me. Right now. We
got Kenny Pickett. Now I'm I'm not excited about it. Jets, Jets,
get you. No, I'd fit right and they'd go that's
uh and the dead deadpool and Rob Mcalade. Uh. We're
broadcasting live from the tirect dot com studios. Tirect dot com.

(10:44):
We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirect
dot com the way tire buying should be So while yes,
a career defining and changing dry for Zach Wilson, I
am overly excited and I don't care right now. Niners

(11:05):
leading the Rams going to the fourth quarter fourteen to nine.
And uh. The big highlight of this game didn't come
while the game was actually being played. It was either
a gender reveal or a protest of some kind. Either way,
the guy got what he guy runs on the field
with pink smoke coming off him. Right, you don't know

(11:26):
his gender reveals at a protest because we've seen both.
And he runs on the field and he turns to
cut back up the sideline and Bobby Wagner comes off
the sideline and decks the guy, and the guy goes down,
Security gets him, and the video is insane. Bobby Wagon
or another player, okay, we've had it. So they come
off the sideline and and the thing is Bobby Wagner

(11:48):
kind of laid up a bit like that. He could
have really just done something to him, but instead he
just gotta hey, I'm bigger than you and I'm gonna
stand here and you're going down. And Bobby Wagner just
decks the guy. I'm running. I'm I'm on the field.
I'm on the field. Like, oh, that didn't feel so good.
Bobby Wadder is going to get another m V people
like he did seven years ago. We should have the

(12:10):
do we have the audio and that one? Real quick?
Do we have it? Do we have the here? If
you know, the Mannings got exclusive access to this one.
If we have it, and if we don't, we'll get
it like no, well, I think we're getting Later, Titsu's
gotta build grunts and he's gotta watch a little bit
of House of Dragon. It's with the Jets final call
that we've been on. Jets Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, jetst Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets,

(12:32):
Jets Sets. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harman weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific. Congratulations, it has been a long eleven
years since the Jets were five. It's been a long
eleven years. But the Philadelphia Phillies are back in the playoffs,

(12:52):
making that Steeler's loss to the Jets sting just a
little bit more. You know, now, I gotta watch the
Phillies make the playoff. I don't want you just now
do we better name Kenny pick it tomorrow or it's
not gonna The Phillies are in the playoffs for the
first time since eleven. They beat the Astros, and this
officially means that Josh Hayder trade did not work out

(13:15):
for the Milwaukee Brewers. I'm I'm okay riding the lightning
on that storyline, Mike Carmen, that is a hot take. Yeah,
we did not worry right there, did not work well.
You know you sometimes you shuffle it up, you need
a change in the clubhouse, Maybe you need a new quarterback,
Maybe you don't like the other guy. Maybe you never
liked the other guy, same thing here. Maybe you decided

(13:36):
Hayter it was time for a little bit of shuffling
of the bullpen. Been going through a little bit of
a rough patch before the deal never got right again.
M hm. And look, it's not that Josh Hayter was great,
because Josh Hayner was not. But something happened to the
Brewers after that trade, whether it was mentally that they
they wondered, what is this organization in it for? Are

(13:59):
we in to win this year? Are we not? Why
are we trading the most dominant reliever who just had
two bad games? Why are we doing this? Well, the
guys we got back, we had a return that obviously
didn't help. And it was one shore or or slow
circling the drain for the Brewers, who were a first
place team. Then they were in and out of first place.
Then they were out of first place, they were competing

(14:21):
for the wild card and now limited from the wild card.
A slow trip to the off season for Milwaukee not
to be fair when you look at say the St.
Louis Cardinals. So I'll just put it in context with
my squad um. Albert Pools hit seventeen home runs after
August one hit another one tonight. The White Sox leader
for the season had seventeen. Just kinda put it out there,

(14:44):
which means the offense woke up over there, they're hanging
around and they're able to to take over. And the
Brewers did finish just two games. Well, I guess we
still finished this series out, but there two games. But
you were to you you led the division by five
or six game games. It was it was a big deal.
And this wasn't like, oh the Mets led by ten
and ahow just gonna say this tonight because it's all

(15:05):
about the Jets. Oh, the Mets led by ten and
a half games. Well, the Braves had had the best
record in baseball. Cool little, Yes, yeah, it wasn't cool.
It wasn't cool. But it's not like the Mets have
been awful. The Mets pretty good. Stop with the shark,
don't don't stop. Don't do it, don't do it, don't

(15:25):
do it, don't do it. The Jets are five hundred,
that's what matters. Five hundred. But the Mets had a
pretty good record. The Braves have just been otherworldly. They
deserve it. It's not like the you know, but for
the Brewers, it's been spent a slow decline, just like
watching It's like watching someone age in like a in
like one of those time laps photographs see some of

(15:46):
the old yeah, yeah, spoiler. It's kind of like what
that's what you're watching. You're watching the Brewers. This is
what they're getting older, getting older, gonna and now they're
out of the Yeah. I mean, to be fair, I mean,
Devin Williams only blue two saves, right, but but I
mean the message you send is we're gonna send out
We're trying to win right now. We're gonna send out
our best closer. Why because we're gonna try to do

(16:06):
because we're smart, We're gonna maximize the return on him
while we're able to stay competitive. And it just doesn't
work that way. It does not work that way. I
don't know. Fifteen saves only two blown one nine three
e r A. It's hard to blame him. I mean,
if Hayter was the most popular guy in the clubhouse
and was buying everybody sandwiches and stuff, so suddenly they

(16:28):
were salty because the spread was bad after a game
like that, break up, like you think that anything any
time a guy could be a good guy. All he's
gotta do is buy sandwiches, Not like, is he a
good teammate? Is he someone who has you know, picks
up other players as he talked to them, as he
helped them through slumps. No, no, no, that's I love
that guy. The other stuff is all assumed that you're

(16:49):
actually part of the clubhouse. He's actually having an affair
with my wife, but by sandwiches every day. So I
kind of like the guy, Well, we haven't heard anything
about that. Now you're just putting that in the air
of it. Put that on the wi you know, they're
just what are you doing? That was? What was? What was?
What was Will Ferrell basketball player? Semipro? Semipro? When when uh,

(17:11):
the guy was dating more A Tierney and then he
was having she was having an affair with Woody Harrilson
and he's cheering them on. Yeah, But the point sandwiches. Look,
there's many ways to be a good or a bad teammate.
I nailed it down to the what works in radio.

(17:32):
Bring food or beverage. People are happy. I mean, there's
cupcakes that are probably four days old out there. But
I bet you when they first showed up people were
gluttonizing like there was no tomorrow. But my my point
was just that unless he was the glue in the
clubhouse and one of the guys wants to go on
record and say that that at that point, that was
really a kick in the teeth because that was our guy.

(17:54):
Has anybody done that? Will they do that? And maybe
maybe not, But at this point I don't have any
indication that he was some pivotal Hey put my arm
over your shoulder when you're in a slump and start like, hey,
let's watch a little video. Let's go through it. Let's
go through your swing, let's go through your your you know,
pitch selection. Let's let's do I haven't heard any of that.

(18:16):
That Suddenly, you know, there was a meltdown because this
guy was out of the locker roo. And maybe there was.
Maybe he was the emotional leader, the emotional buttress to
keep you from going said buttress to go into spirals, right,
because you gotta have a glue guy as glue girl.
When you gotta have a buttress, you gotta have a
glue guy, and you gotta have a buttress. You're not
gonna hear the word buttress on sports talk radio unless

(18:38):
it's elevated sports talk radio like this. If you don't
have a glue guy, you gotta have two buttresses. Gotta
make sure you have that. Well, you could use both
the other thing like the glue gun. Canna fix the buttress.
Here's the other part of this conversation. If if it
looks like the Josh he tre didn't work out, you
really like the us like, yeah you have. I haven't
heard Buttress in a while. Uh you triss that up?

(19:01):
Uh we gotta explain Buttress told it. So. If if
you could say that Josh Hayter trade didn't work out
for for the Brewers, I think it's okay to say
maybe it was Joe Girardi's fault in Philadelphia. Maybe maybe
it was Girardi's fault. Didn't we determine that at the time.
We determined that about two weeks after it happened, didn't

(19:21):
we and everybody seem a little bit looser and ready
to go. And here's the thing that scares me, you
know again, bring my own team in with Tony LaRussa
announcing his retirement today and them having their season ending
kind a media thing, even though no media was allowed
to broadcast that there's a lot of people calling for

(19:41):
Wildcat Joe to be the next manager. And I'm raising
my head, going all right, I get it. You want
a fiery guy and a disciplinarian perhaps, And that's what
Liam Hendricks and a few guys have alluded to, like
did you not see what just happened at Philly? Those
guys couldn't wait and they were happy. They were all
doing the gritty going up and down. We're so excited
by the had gritty come into the clubhouse. It's itself.

(20:04):
It's like seeing Lynn Drawson Leclair back on the same
line for the first time. Oh yeah, I got I
had my John Leclair jersey number ten award all the time.
Then I spilled some mustard on it when I had
a hoogi from Walwa, and I could never get the
stain out, so I put it away and tried to
bring it out, and then stain just got more yellow
over time and it just looks even worse. So and
I can't even wear that anymore. Can't wear my bring
to More jersey anymore. That's a tough one too. That

(20:27):
was pretty good. Can we bring out? Can we bring
the bees are out? While we're at it. No, you
know we're gonna bring out though, is What did it
sound like for the Philadelphia Phillies to make the playoffs
for the first time in eleven years? Dubon waiting on
the twelfth pitch and here it is, swung on popped up,
shallow center, coming on marsh on the run here for

(20:52):
the first time in eleven years. If you'll head back
to the post season and the end of the guy
it's I got broadcasting from his house with eight friends.
The guys on the on the couch just deaf. Yeah,
that's right, that's right there, right, It's like they're doing
the Jonah Hill rand pit high five and moneyballing. Come on,
come on, that is so great? Do you think my favorite? That?

(21:16):
That might be my favorite non Kevin Harlan call of
all time. It's the best. Play that again. Play that again.
That's the best. Oh, we gotta get that back again.
And I've just pitched all the guys. Now you made
me drop my HOGI but I don't care because we
made the playoffs, but we fell off the floor. I
gotta pick it up. Now. When's the last time you
cleaned your floor? Was it? Like? How how? How long ago?
Was it? Wait? Wait, did you did you use a roomba?

(21:38):
What did you? How did you do it? Would you?
How did you? Okay, so I can pick it up
and heat it's okay, okay, great, want to make sure
I can still eat it. I was going back and
watching Insecure and one of the episodes, get some Food
down the count. I just cleaned that couch. Oh man,
I'll tell you. She was just like channeling Tiger when

(21:58):
Marsh caught the ball, so excited. All right, So there
it is. There's your game winning call. I gotta be honest.
So I half expected it to be the final call
of the Brave sweeping the Mets. I I really, I
really was expecting Actually yeah, no, I didn't expect that
a little. I mean the Jets one. So, I mean

(22:20):
we couldn't run at one point. I could get the
Jets final call. Yeah, get a little get a little
bit of Breefe Hall on the shoe. I can get him.
You can get a little bit of that there. You know,
he was he's a good he's a good running back.
Review was really fast. Yeah it was a touchdown, Well
it was a touchdown. It was that was typical Jets.
If really did we fumble? And I was when I
was waiting for it to go the other way. I
was waiting for because Kenny pick it greater than Zach

(22:43):
Willson in the storyline, who was waiting to see. Yes,
it's a fumble. Yes, the Jets recover. Yes, it's illegal.
So the Jets lose yardage and we're taking ten seconds
off the clock. The game is over. That's what I
was waiting for a call. Whatever. Solids just body slammed
the official. You're not allowed to do any of that.
I don't care. The game is over. The game is over.

(23:04):
The Kenny sprinting off like the guy at a fireworks show.
He's got the suit. The official takes off a suit.
He's wearing a Kenny Pickett panthers. We did it. We
did it with the game's over. Game's over. That's what
I was waiting on. Uh So, it's that error right
now going on in Philadelphia. It's it's it's it's interesting,

(23:25):
you know, it's it's it's one. One side of the
state is up, one side is Dad is Jin and Yang.
It's no working now. Speaking of working, we talked about
the forty niners a few minutes ago, Niners win Monday
Night Football over the Rams at nine, and the Rams
defense O sorry, and the forty Niners defense looks fantastic.
It's easy to look at the Rams early season and say, boy,

(23:46):
they're not the same team. The Rams are in trouble, right,
and that is true in a in a in a vacuum.
No they're not. They got pasted by the Buffalo Bills.
Atlanta is just okay. They escaped them there. They've been solid,
but then they lose Cord Darryl Patterson. Get to your
fantasy waiver wires the I Want Your Flex podcast, we'll
talk all about it. Arizona is just okay. And the

(24:08):
forty Niners are one of the better teams in the
NFL and they got pasted here. So no, they're not
the same team. But here's the thing. Both the a
f C West and the NFC West are not nearly
as good as we thought they were gonna be. The
a f C West stinks and the NFC West is
just as bad. We thought we got great teams all

(24:28):
the TYMP No, every every each of those divisions is
exactly the same. The Chiefs are still really good. The
Chargers maybe could be good. The Raiders are gonna raider, right,
I mean that that's how it is. And the Broncos
stink all right, And you look at the look at
the NFC West. The Rams are struggling, The Niners look strong,
the Seahawks are two and two with Geno Smith, and
the Cardinals, who knows what kind of team shows up.

(24:50):
Both those divisions stink. They stink out loud. So for
the Rams, it's not doom and gloom. It's fine. There
is time for them. It's okay, doesn't look good now, No,
but oh it's no, it's not. It's it's going to
be more of an effort. And every team is different.
That is a defending champion. Some teams understand what it
is to defend the crown right away. Some teams it

(25:12):
takes a little bit going knowing this season is not
going to be like last year. We don't have all
the charmed things happening for us. We're not healthy everywhere.
It's just going to be different, and you have to
figure out how to play that year or the new normal.
So the Rams have to figure it out that to
figure out when Matthew Stafford's not at ten touchdowns and
three picks instead of four touchdowns and six picks. It's
Staffords starting out a little bit like he was last year,

(25:35):
except maybe a little bit more exaggeratedly so. But for
the Rams, again, everybody's two and two in the NFC West,
and right now Geno Smith is the best quarterback in
the division. The Rams are okay, Rams are gonna have
to figure out how to generate some level of run game. Uh,
to go along and give Stafford a bit of protection,
because neither Cam Akers nor Darrell Henderson giving you a

(25:55):
whole lot out of that position. The offensive line we've
talked about it going into the season went once Whitworth
decided he wasn't coming back. So I got close to
your wit. And without uh, they're not good with with
with without Wit. It doesn't matter. It's just it's it's
just a different season. Without Wit. It ain't good right now.
And you've got Cooper Cup who's got Tyler Higbee? Okay,

(26:18):
there's your second leading receiver. They don't really have anything
else right now. Allen Robinson has been a zero after
his acquisition. People putting him in the al right, is
he gonna have a target? You're gonna have prop bets
on does he have a target in the first quarter
the way things are going right now, and defensively, as
soon as Aaron Donald comes off the field, they get gashed. Right,

(26:41):
you saw it out there, Jeff Wilson thirtyr touchdown? Fine,
right where you would have been? Where was where? Where
was was Vonte Mack in the game for any of
those touchdowns? Look at that's when he got after he
spraining his ankle. That's when he wasn't he's gotten thrown out.
That's got when he got. Now, why why is he
getting stupid? Be sure to catch live editions of The

(27:06):
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show
with My base friend Mike Harman live from the tire
Act dot Com Studios. Early in the fourth quarter, it
is the forty Niners on top of the Rams seventeen
to nine. The Rams do have the football third and

(27:30):
ten from their own twenty one yard line. We'll keep
you updated on this game throughout the rest of the night.
Super Bowl champs again in a tough one, but joining
us now on the hotline. Fresh off of getting the
Syracuse Orange in the top twenty five and both the
AP and the coaches polls. It's a longtime NFL insider
odyssey Washington Post Jason lock and four. He's on Twitter

(27:53):
at Jason locking for What's up, Jay, What's going on? Yeah, Wagner,
that was a real barber. Hey, I thought Wagner was
a basketball schoared. I didn't Wagner had a football team. Hey,
they won like Division three championship in eighty seven. I
grew up on Staten Island. That was a big Well,
I'll I'll definitely take your word for that. I never

(28:15):
want to will or shall know anything about Wagner football,
but I know it was like the lowest attendance of
the carrier. Is it still be carried out? I don't know.
It's the j w A wireless. It's just nobody. Nobody
showed up for Syracuse Wagner. That's just a fact. Well,
the good news is that serious you didn't have to

(28:36):
worry about facing a big decision and going for it
on fourth and goal, throwing an interception and wind up
losing the game to the Bills. They did not know
Wagner had no such problems, and good for the Wagner.
I'm gonna call him the Wagner Wagners. Okay, I don't.
I don't know what their nickname is, but it should
be the Wagners. I think they should be the Wagner Wagners.

(28:57):
It's actually the Seahawks, but Wagner Wagner's is that well, Okay,
Wagner Wagers is better. Yes, Wagner Wagner Wagners is definitely better.
I like that there's a picture of Robert Wagner as
the logo for sure. It is yes, dr Evil with
the with the high patch that from what was the
What was the damn Show? He was hard to hear,
hard to heart? Yes, yes, the male like he it's

(29:17):
Stephanie Powers after Bounty O. Yes, hard to heart. That's
that should be there on their helmets. So it's are
you are you dancing? To stay away from the John
Harbord decision that that really is not very popular right now. Um.
I don't have a problem with them doing what they
did because Lamar Jackson is infinitely better to their defense

(29:39):
that has ranked thirty seconds since the start of last season.
My problem was with the play call um their left
tackle at that moment, as Daniel, who was a fourth
round pick as a developmental right tackle who nobody thought
would see the field this season, really like, I don't
think that was in the cards. And now he's there
starting left tackle because John James last and a half

(30:05):
and Patrick McCarry lasted a game after that, and Ronnie
Stanley hasn't played football other than one horrific game in
Week one of last season, since the middle of the season.
So you've got that going on, and your right tackle,
Morgan Moses is getting his lunch handed to him by

(30:27):
Russo or Millard, depending on who's on that side on
any given snap, and you decide to go empty from
the goal line on fourth in the game, and both
of those guys get whipped, and Lamar is not in
a position to run because it's straight drop, and by
the time he sees Devin DuVernay open in the corner

(30:47):
of the end zone, it's too late, and player is
already sprinting over in that direction because he knows Lamar
can only throw it to the right side at that
point based on where his shoulders are. You know that
that's a tough ask. You took away Lamar as the
potential um ball carrier. You took away any boot action

(31:08):
for Lamar like it. I didn't like to play call,
but I understood the decision because the defense is garbage,
and the defense has had a lot to do with
why they've lost five straight games at home, and the
defense has a lot to do with why they can't
be decent quarterbacks, let alone great quarterbacks like Josh Allen.
So Harball hides behind the analytics because he probably should

(31:31):
hide behind the analytics, because it's better to hide behind
some kid from you know, Stanford or m I T
who nobody even knows who their name is, than to
come out and say, yeah, we don't get stops in
the fourth quarter, and we haven't gotten stops in the
fourth quarter in a long time, and I don't trust
my defense, so I'm just gonna go for it right
Like You're never going to say the quiet part out loud,
But I think that's really what he's expressing when he

(31:55):
does what he does and makes the decisions that he makes.
Speaking of teams, I can't get a stop in the
fourth quarter when it matters. Let's stay in division. With
the Pittsburgh Steelers losing to the New York Football the
story as you wrote about, uh, and as it seemed
the broadcast had been tipped and tipped off on Kenny Pikett.
It was his time. A couple of touchdown runs and

(32:19):
no balls hit the turf. I guess is the big
headline that that comes out of it? The decisions made
and now we move forward? Uh? Is this Mike Tomlin?
I mean, I'm looking at him in hardball, both going
maybe it's time for change, but let's talk about Kenny Pikett. Yeah. Well, look,
there's like Mike Tomlin has been there so long, right,

(32:40):
and he's such an institution that we kind of feel
like he's seen everything. He's done everything, he's been through everything,
He's faced every sort of um challenge and hurdle and
adversity that an NFL coach could ever experience. But he's
never done this. He's never had to bleed in a

(33:03):
rookie quarterback. Right. He inherited Ben too. At that point
was an ascending player, but wasn't what we knew Ben
could become as the Hall of Famer, and I think
first ballot Hall of Famer, but he'd already won a
Super Bowl, you know, like he was clearly in trench

(33:23):
there and then the legs and breadth of the entirety
of the next whatever sixteen years. The only time Mike
Tomlin ever had to think about who is my damn
quarterback this week was like thirteen years in when Ben
got banged up, and it's like, are we going with
Duck Hodges or Mason Rudolph this week? Right? And that

(33:45):
was clearly only in a stop gap manner until Ben
came back. So this is uncharted territory for him. And
he's never had a losing season, and he's always been
in contention, and he always thinks will be in contention.
And he's a defensive ended head coach who has we've
come to think of as an elite defense, and when

(34:06):
t J Watt there, it's a it's an elite defense.
And maybe it's not without him, yeahs O seven without him,
so but regardless, Like this is new territory for tom him.
But when Trabinsky has played three and a half games
and he has two passing touchdowns and he has like
six interceptions, and now I has five interceptions, and he's

(34:32):
got the second worst quarterback ready in the league, only
justin fields is worse. And he can't push the ball
downfield and he's not creating anything on the ground in
the run game, then you got to try to do
something to beat the freaking New York Football Jets on
nine days rest. And so he did what he thought
he had to do, and it was what he had

(34:52):
to do. And yeah, he threw three picks. Pick it.
But one was like, he's coming in hot, he's playing
for the first time. We've seen that all the time,
you know, the rookie quarterback on his first drive forces something.
But the other two what was on clay Pool and
the third one was hail Mary. And other than that,

(35:14):
he's ten for ten and he runs for two touchdowns
and he does unlock a little something something in the
option run game, and so yeah, they're gonna go with him. Now.
I don't know they're they're fourteen point underdogs to the Bills.
Maybe they keep it closer than that. But it's time
to start developing Kenny Pickett for the long term. And

(35:35):
Tomlin will do that. He'll probably he'll announce it tomorrow.
I mean he he has to announce it tomorrow. There
really is no other recourse. And I strongly believe that
Mitch Drabinski will be traded by November, m Jason Lock
and forward. While that see your Fox Sports Radio The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen. Alright, so Drabinsky gets

(35:55):
traded by November. Another part of your bit out of
the Washington Post. I really want to see what happens first,
because you say that Christian McCaffrey is a name to
watch the trade deadline. Matt Rule could also leave to
return to college, or he could get fired before that happens.
That's a lot of stuff going on with Carolina. Yeah. No, Look,
this is luck that Matt Rule tried to get out

(36:18):
last year. He tried like hell to get out. He
wanted LSU, he wanted Notre Dame, he wanted USC. Unfortunately
for him, they didn't want him back. And his agent
at the time and Instill, his agent, Trace Armstrong, was
trying to get hired as the president of the Chicago Bears.
So there was a lot going on. Um, but that's
how it works, like that's you know, that's the business

(36:42):
of football. But he's got to get out now, and
he's not really that interested in Nebraska and understandably so.
And I don't know if Nebraska is ever going to
be you know, a program that people look at on
the national level again as a top twenty five program,
let alone a program that when I was growing up

(37:04):
was contending for national titles. And Rule might be done
with reclamation projects. But absolutely it's an abject failure. And
absolutely this owner is piste off and everybody in that
building knows that this is untenable. I don't know what

(37:24):
other jobs are going to open up, you know, Wisconsin,
I think probably would have interested him, but they obviously
went with Jim Leonard and that was a smart decision.
And I think he's a rising star in coaching circles.
But Rule is going to be back in college, whether
it's November, December, January. That thing there is so broken
in a million different pieces. And the problem is the

(37:46):
NFL community looks at David Tepper and thinks he's I
don't know, Like people don't want to work for him,
Like people don't know what he is. Like he said
I was going to build this practice facility. He can't
get it built. He says he's gonna improve the stadium.
Maybe he will, maybe won't, Like I don't know, man,
Like these these these owners have a deeper and and

(38:08):
and and lengthier learning curve than quarterbacks too. So he
it's an owner who has zero presence in the NFL,
who's never done a damn thing, who people don't know when,
who'll do a damn thing. Who's the quarterback? Go? You know,
we got Baker Mayfield and Sam Donald, but playing our
fifth year options, that's an abject failure. Like who are
blue chip players? Well, we you know, Brian Baker is

(38:31):
a good pass rusher, and you know Jeremy Chin was
good a couple of years ago, and like, you know,
so there's not a whole lot of there. They're like,
you can't sell the roster, you can't sell the quarterback.
Oh well, are you sitting on you know, this plethora
of draft picks because you've made all the chip No, no,
they got none of that, Like we can't sell that,

(38:54):
Like are you bad enough to pick first overall? Now
we're bad, but we might not be that bad. So yeah,
something's got to give, and something will give, and they'll
eat a bunch of money to move McCaffrey if you
can stay healthy for the next couple of weeks. Well
so that and then Jason, where's McCaffrey end up? As
he end up at Buffalo Bill. I mean I think

(39:19):
they like I mean, I think they really like Singletary.
It's but I will say this as well, that owner
is obviously Pagoa is all in like he wants to win.
He wants to win badly. He's already in the top
five in UH money spent on payroll. So yeah, I
wouldn't that would not shock me. Um that that would

(39:42):
make a lot of sense. Like even this thing with
the forty Niners, Like I know, you know they had
a thirty two yard rushing touchdown tonight, but like they've
had injuries to the running back position. They want to
be able to road grade people, um in the outside zone.
They're not really doing that now. And if Pagola is

(40:07):
willing to eat as much money as I suspect he'll
be willing to eat to move that that salary to
get as high of a pick as he could possibly get,
then there's going to be a market. He's on Twitter
at Jason Locke and for that is at Jason Locke
and for Odyssey Washington Post and clearly working on a
history of the Wagner college football program. They've been plays

(40:29):
the Wagner wagners are there taking easy money. We'll talk
to you next week. I have a good week and
