recommended installers. Ti irac dot com the way tire buying
should be. So. But I know you got cut off
little bit there at the end because we we ran
out of time. We're talking about Cole Beasley retiring today
from the It's a lot about Colve Easiley. He's going
to we'll get to Draymond Green in a second. But
you know, I wanted to finish because I know you
didn't have enough time there at then we're talking about
him and and retiring at thirty three from the NFL,

(01:08):
coming off of two years where he had eighty two
receptions and looked like he was still a great slot receiver,
couldn't find a gig, signs for a couple of weeks
with the Bucks. That doesn't work out. Now suddenly he
is retiring. Uh. The COVID situation did not help, in
which he was very outspoken about not wanting to get
vaccinated for COVID and there's going to be the the

(01:32):
and there already has been the CEE if he was
if he got got vaccinated, he'd still be playing, or
he didn't lose his gig and get blackballed from the
NFL and no one signed him. You know, why would
you not sign Cole Beasley was still a good player
because of his COVID stance. No, it didn't help because
this was someone who got fined repeatedly for violating the
COVID clause in the last couple of years and he

(01:52):
missed a game last year because of of COVID. He
didn't continue his career, He didn't get a new contract,
he didn't get someplace else or some believe in him
because he couldn't stay off of social media and make
his anti vaccination thoughts forefront many times during the season.
Right now, I've I've always said from the beginning, it's

(02:15):
a choice, right, if you don't want the vaccine, you
didn't have to get the vaccine when it happened. But
realizing sports, you have to go through and jump through
a couple of more hoops if you're going to play.
They're not telling you can't play, it's just well, you
need to make sure that you are doing X and
Y to play. But but why when other players only
have to do half of X or whatever, Well, because
they got the vaccine. This is the rules of the

(02:36):
NFL put forth. He was very outspoken and disagreeing with it.
And when you make headlines as many times as he
because there's no NFL player, we talked about more about
the the anti vaccine UH views that he had then
Cole Beasley, it's like you have four or five times
and in a year, it was guessing is what Cole
Beasley is talking about today? And he wasn't and he

(02:57):
and he wasn't holding back in how he out the
NFL a double standards about things. And I want more information,
I want this, I want to know why this happens,
and this isn't fair When that happens. What do other
teams say, boy, Cole Beasley is being a problem and
is he worth bringing in? I don't know. He's thirty three.
Do the bill still need him? They're moving on? Okay?
Maybe not if he kept his stuff off and because

(03:20):
not everything is made for social media, if he kept
his stuff off of social media, he probably still is
playing in the NFL. He probably either stayed with the
Bills or he wound up with a new team and
he's got a contract and he's playing, and he's you know,
catching six balls a game, which is what he normally does.
I mean that that's what Cole Beasley has done. The
best two years of his career have been the last
two years of his career. But this is what I

(03:40):
mean when I say social media is not for everyone,
because not every one of your thoughts should go on
social media, right You Either I disagree and I wanted
to meet me about choice, or I want to really
be at the forefront of this and tell you what
I what I know and what I think about stuff. Okay,
but decisions always have consequences. You can agree or disagree
about it, but they do, and you always you always

(04:03):
worry whether you're giving teams reason to move away from you.
You never want to do that. You want to make
sure to if I go sign this guy, I'm getting
a guy that I can believe in. It's gonna show up,
it's gonna be a great teammate, all of these things.
But how many teams see a headline four or five
times over the course of the football season going man
Cole Beasley? Can he just go play? Can he just
get If he doesn't want to get vaccine, that's fine.

(04:24):
Kirk Cousins doesn't want to get vaccinated. We don't kill
him for not getting vaccine. Other guys, Aaron Rodgers lied
about not getting vaccines, so that's why people are upset
about him. The guy misled everybody with it. But everybody
else there's lots of players who didn't get vaccinated. You
know what, we we don't talk about. Okay, it's fine
because not everybody feels I gotta go on social media
and make sure everybody knows what I think about this.

(04:46):
That's what happened to Cole Beasley. He couldn't control what
he put out on social media, and that's why he
doesn't have a gig, and that's where we were. We
were talking about it when when we got cut off
there so good, what do you have on it? Yeah?
I mean I think there's a couple of things that play. Yeah,
the the messaging could be could be a portion of it.
The other is he's thirty three. The other is that

(05:07):
he was making over seven million dollars in his last contract.
And while he may not have been able to command
that amount of money, you're also sitting looking around going
should we start developing young receivers in that role? And
he was a guy that was seemed prime if he
were to come back to go to a would be contender,
And that's exactly what happened, playing for what a base minimum,

(05:31):
veteran minimum at his age, and that's what he got
from the the bucks before he departs all the social
media stuff and and his comments on the vaccine. You know,
people were in a position where everybody was mad about
everything right, mad about quarantine's, mad about needing to sit home,
mad about constant testing whatever. And I mean that as

(05:54):
society and as a nation a world at large, and
for Cole Beasley decided he was going to be a
guy to to take and and speak on behalf of
probably not just himself but others in the locker room
and other locker rooms that he was talking to. And
there there always comes a cost because you look at
his production. It's not that dissimilar to the last year

(06:17):
of a guy named Terrell Owens when he was with
Cincinnati and still putting up numbers nearly a thousand yards
season and then he didn't come back. So you know,
there there comes a point where you where you do
hit that tipping point between production value and value in
two forms, right value on the field and then value

(06:38):
relative to what it's gonna cost to bring you in
with the contract that you're seeking, and then extra you know,
when we we've talked about this for you and I
as long as we've been doing this of when does
and and it's tail as old as time and sports
talk radio, television, etcetera. Is when does the talent and
value again capital v to it team get out weighed

(07:01):
by distractions, discontent, whatever. I don't know that that was
the tipping point. I think there's many factors at play here,
but it's certainly part of the equation that can't be dismissed.
Categorically and a guy that decides, all right, I'm done
and maybe today when you're looking at it, when you
got repped, you got the Buccaneers getting healthy. He doesn't

(07:22):
want to be the guy that's waiting around trying to
catch on somewhere else, because what was his role going
to be now that they're getting healthy in Tampa? Nothing right,
there's gonna be a guy hanging around either on a
practice squad or hey, we we've got your number on file.
We'll call you if we need you holiday help. But
remember Brady, Brady was the guy that pushed to get cope.

(07:42):
So I gotta think, okay, Brady's gonna throw in the football, right,
Like if okay he's saying, go get somebody, he's gonna
throw in the football, right. But but you had a
couple of weeks where you didn't have your options. Evans
got himself suspended god when it was hurt and has
been on the injury report with a big red uh
injury note for the first couple of weeks of the season.
So you're looking for a bodied guys, Well, you've hit
a point where you don't necessarily need that guy around anymore.

(08:05):
And he he fixed the glitch. We fixed the glitch.
We fixed the glitch. Twitter at how about a fresca?
Mike gets swollen down The Jason Smiths with Mike car
But the Cold Beast is a hot button topic, you know,
I mean, it's it's really interesting just to think about
how his career has evolved to the point where today
he just says, I said, I'm leave him going to
be with my family. Oh okay, okay, all right. Not

(08:31):
the headline I thought if you if you heard the headline,
Bucks player abruptly retires to spend time with family. Uh not.
Not the guy you think of would be Cold Beasley.
Not the first guy that would come to mind. It
would be somebody else. Be somebody else. Look at you,
be somebody else trying to play connect the dots here.
Let me say this. Let me say this now, from
Cole Beasley to Tom Brady The Jason Smiths with Mike

(08:52):
Carmen Live from the Fox Sports Radio Diirect dot com studios.
Tom Brady got today off from practice. He practiced last
ends day. He didn't practice today. He was with the team,
but he didn't get on the practice field. This amidst
all the reports of Brady's marriage issues and that potentially
he and Jazell Bunchen are getting a divorce because both
of them have hired divorce attorneys. This story is getting

(09:15):
dragged through the press every single day, and every day
it just looks worse and worse for Brady, who's taking
more time away from the team, who was getting more
and more frustrated. You know, destroying iPads during games. Doesn't
seem like the same guy he was right now and
you're hearing the whispers, this is it? Is he done?
Tom Brady? Tom Brady, let me just say this, Trust

(09:37):
me on this. We're not going to be having these
conversations in week ten. Right, This has been a very
difficult start for Brady. Whether you agreed with the getting
the time off he is or not, yes, it has
been a difficult time for him. He's away from the
team for two weeks in the preseason, now he's off
on Wednesdays. How committed is he? I get the questions.

(10:00):
We're not going to be having these conversations in week ten.
Brady needs a little more time. The team needs a
little more time to get together. I get it. They
need time to get their mojo back. This just where
you have to wait a few weeks. Tampa Bay has
never been an early season team where they where they
show up and they just show out and they're blowing
people out. Now that they're a and acquired. Over the

(10:21):
course of the season, we figure things out, the vets
all get together, the chemistry re revisits itself, and things
work out well. That's who Tampa Bay is. You can
see it coming back slowly. Even though they lost to
the to the Chiefs, Brady still was able to get
the football up and down the field pretty well. Trust me.
By week ten, it's gonna be the normal Tom Brady,

(10:41):
and we're gonna be back to Hey boy, Brady's got
the bucks near the top of the NFC again. Can
they win the Super Bowl? You just have to give
him a little bit of time, time to get through
what's going on personally, because we told you last night,
when something like this happens personally, yes, it drags over
into your professional life. It happen, and you need time
to find that new normal. So give Brady another month,

(11:03):
another five or six weeks. By the time we get
to just part mid season, watch what goes on. Look,
their schedule is getting easier coming up as well for Tampa.
There two and two they're not owing four. I know
everybody wants to shovel dirt on Brady now and say
this is it. He's done, he's done, he's done. Look
at this, he's walking away, he's quitting all these different things.
Trust me, By week ten, it's not gonna be Hey,

(11:24):
this is it for Tom. Brady's never around the team anymore,
hasn't practiced in five weeks. He just shows up on
Sunday to play the games. We're not gonna be talking
about this. Tom Brady is not going to go out
like this. This is not how he's gonna have a season,
no matter what he's at. I'm sure he's had other
seasons and the last twenty years that have been trying
for both personally and professionally, and Brady has always found

(11:45):
a way. Trust me. By week ten, everything's gonna be fine.
It's gonna be back to hey, can Brady win the
Super Bowl this year? And is it his last year
in the NFL. We'll be back to those storylines in
five or six weeks. Jason. Much of this is writ
in parallel with many years in New England. What have
we said forever about the Belichick Brady combination. September was

(12:07):
an extension of the preseason. What do we got, let's tinker,
let's figure this out. Do we have do we have
a need that we need to go find someone off
a practice squad? Change up how we're approaching things. Defense
was always going to keep them in games, and then
it all came together with the Bucks that are at
least from the star players, an older team, and even

(12:29):
where they don't have age, they've got guys that have
had injury concerns. When you look at guys like God,
when you know Mike Evans is in what year nine
of his NFL career? Uh for nets got many weary
miles on those legs. So now it's about being judicious
to Julio Jones comes in the same thing, same problems
that he's had the last couple of years. Can he

(12:49):
stay healthy when you need him? And you don't need
him till December because who's running away in that division.
You don't need to be playing your best football. Hell,
you don't need to be playing good football right now.
The best team outside of you is Atlanta, And nobody
wanted to believed Atlanta was gonna win more than what
four and a half five games? Wasn't that they're over
and over under coming in so well, they've played well

(13:12):
off the jump, and they've they've had a couple of
surprises for folks, and they run the ball well. We
talked about the fantasy angles of the post cour Darrel
Patterson era here for a while. The Bucks are in
prime position to just lie and wait because the NFC
doesn't have a lot of great teams. So get healthy,
bid your time, be ready to go the Brady talk.

(13:34):
You know, it's tough because this situation is, you know,
depending on which report you read, has been brewing a
long while, multiple years for parts of it, conversations, interviews given,
et cetera. But certainly in this you're finding whatever. I
don't like the phrase new normal, but that's where we're at, right,

(13:55):
separate houses, separate travel schedule to see the kids and
family and all that stuff. Stuff you're trying to do, uh,
and normalize it that that will come in in short order. Right,
You're never whole in those type of situations. I could
I could speak to that. Uh, it's it's never right,
and you do the best you can. And that's where

(14:17):
he's at now, trying to be you know what, whatever
he is now to Gazelle, to the kids, and and
to his team. All Right, you're trying to to keep
things moving and do your job, recognizing that maybe it
requires a little more from the folks around you, because
you're not gonna be able to do a percent all

(14:38):
the time as you have, at least for now that
you know someone's gotta there's gonna be a little bit
of meeting in the minds and helping to pick up
some of the slack, which I think Brady is so
used to having everybody on his back that you know
that that's also an adjustment, right, You're you're just so
used to things flowing. Goes back to the Kyler Murray
we conversation we had with the insane additions to his contract.

(15:03):
If you're used to flowing and you're dominating and suddenly
you're not, man, you gotta you gotta relearn some stuff, right,
you got you gotta take on some some advice and
a new way of doing business. And that's where Brady
and the Bucks are right now. Just wait, it's week four.
Just wait, We're not talking about this in week ten.
It's going to be back to where we're at with

(15:23):
Brady and Super Bowls and the Bucks. Just wait, Just wait.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with
My best friend Mike Harmon. And I already know before

(15:46):
you get into Draymond Green, I already know the Holiday
movie I can't wait to go see with Pam and Zoe.
Did you see the trailer today for Violent Night? No?
Oh my god, dude, trailer that sounds like one that
would be direct to video mat No, dude, to streaming.

(16:06):
It's one of those video It's one of those trailers
where you watch it and you think, first is this
an snl skit? And then you think, oh, is this
a streaming only? And then you go, I can't wait
to go to the theater to go see this. Okay.
David Harbor from Stranger Things plays Santa Claus and apparently,

(16:26):
you know, in this whole thing, there's a bunch of
Santa Clauses who were real and that's the whole hook
of the movie. And Um, it's called Violet Night because
as he's delivering presents, like uh, John Leguizamo leads a
group of people who keep these families hostage because they're
rich and they have all kinds of money. He wants
to rob them all on Christmas Eve and David Harber

(16:48):
is Santa Claus and he comes in he tries to
save the day. It's like die Hard, except you know,
he's Santa Claus and the and it shows him just
as Santa Claus and he's killing people and it's insane.
You have to see the trailer. I'm like, I can't
wait for this movie, Violet Night. I can't wait. I
can't I go. There's no way that Please tell me

(17:09):
this is real. Please tell me it's real and it's
coming out. And this wasn't something that was just hey,
we did this as a lark. It was kind of fun. No,
but Violet Night, I can't wait. I can't wait. Yeah,
I'm really curious now because may one you got John
lego Zamo is everywhere. Yeah, because he's gonna be in
that new movie with Ray Fines. That looks like that
could be fun. That's got a little bit the menu. Huh,

(17:32):
where they go to you know, this exclusive place for
those that haven't seen the trailer that one, and then
all of a sudden they're being hunted. No spoiler, it's
in the trailer. Uh. And then you've got this movie.
I do like that The Red Guardian is now Red
Guardian has Santa Claus in a violent movie. But yeah,
both starring John Lego Zama Man. I can imagine one

(17:55):
where the scripts going around and people are going, I'm
not touching that. I'm not touching that. David Harber says,
when else am I going to get to be the
star of a movie? Sure, I'll do it. And it
looks so, it looks like it's so much fun. I
can't even tell you. Well but that, but that's just
it for him. Right now, you just look at whatever's
coming in and you risk that quote over exposure to

(18:15):
hell with that. You're a veteran actor, you've had a
good run, You've got a lot of credits. But if
you can really start kicking up in a whole other
level and stacking chips, then you win. Well. Look, and
this shows you how easy you can be for Hollywood sometimes, right,
Don't worry, Darling gets all this drama and cast members
hate each other and they're spitting on each other. What happens?

(18:36):
I told you the movie was gonna stink, And the
movie came and went and Tiller Florence Pu. I'm sure
Florence Pu was good. I'm sure Florence P was No.
I thought the movie was fine. I just I'm sure
that a lot of the stuff in the background was
a work. Came and went, came and went. Don't worry,
Darling is here, came in went and here's this one

(18:57):
little trailer of Viola that suddenly it's gotten millions of yews.
That's a violent, violet, violet night. Can't wait, can't wait
to all you gotta do. Put out a good trailer
or something that seems like fun. And that's way better
than here's three months of Oh, so and so is
cheating on so and so, and I was here for that.
And here's a backbiting and the drama, and so and
so isn't talking to so and so, and we're spitting

(19:18):
and we're not spitting, and I'm doing interviews and look
at all this free publicity, and nobody went to see
the movie. It's just like big ball of brand. Oh
but LaVar Ball. You can say you want about LaVar Ball,
but look at look at all the big look at
all the publicity's got for a sneakers. Yeah, he didn't
sell any. Doesn't matter how how much publicity you have
when you can't sell any. They had supply chain issues
at a bad price point. So it really didn't didn't

(19:43):
work for him. Um, and then that pandemic came and
gave him an out. But David, here's the Rolling Stone,
And if you do a quick google on this Rolling
Stone headline quote, David Harbor, Santa Claus is all face
stabbing in holiday cheer in violent night trailer, I would say,
don't worry, darling. Was was actually pretty good. And smile

(20:05):
was fantastic. Okay, you like smile? Okay? And then did
you didn't make you smile? How many tiles does it
get on? How many smiles does? Is it a fourth
star a fourth smile movie? Is it a three smile movie?
I would I would go four. There are one or
two things that left me going no, that sucked. Otherwise,
movie is like a four star movie. That's like the

(20:25):
highest rating. You can know. It was strong, It was strong.
It really gives you a little bit of the overall
creep effect plus some jump scares. Uh, they mess with
your timing, you know, where you're anticipating stuff to happen
on beats it doesn't, and then they get you, you
know that kind of thing. I was watching my my
daughter with a couple of those. Maddie was with me,

(20:47):
and you just see the body would start to relax,
and the guys behind me that I mean, they really
helped make the movie. So you want to go where
there's a bunch of people in the theater because you've
got a lot of the oh no, you don't, oh
like just screaming at these different pieces, going on to
hell with this? And then at one point there was
a guy standing um you know, as you you would

(21:08):
go to leave, to go to the bathroom or back
to the concessions or leave the theater, who was just
standing there and you kept wondering if now he was
gonna be part of some rocky horror picture, like, hey,
he's not gonna walk by and smile at everybody. I
also did tell Maddie as a defender in soccer that
if you just started grinning at your opponent might make
them uneasy, might to your advantage and if you need

(21:29):
to rest, you don't need a need to run. Just
stand there and smile like that and they'll give you
a wide berth and it's just like you chased after them. Hey,
I'm not getting near that person. Go straight at the goal.
I can't you see that smile. I gotta go way
around here, man, I'm not getting called getting I'm not
getting involved with that because she would also wreck you
coming in with the ball. But now it's a good
movie time in in place, moon Age Daydream. I don't

(21:52):
know if you got to go see that yet. I
mean that was fantastic. So a good, good run here
of movies and looking forward to a bunch of new releases.
There you got a pop culture and sports takes and
and hot take nonsense and conspiracy theories. You got it
all here. There you go. There's the Mike Harman movie
minute for you here on the show. Uh So, the
big story of the day, and we've talked about this.

(22:15):
We got Rick Buker coming up in about a half
hour to break this down. Draymond Green is facing discipline
from the Golden State Warriors. Why because he got in
a fight with Jordan Pool at practice not one of those.
And no, he threw a punch at Jordan Pool that
connected and they had to be restrained and separated. After
the incident happened, Draymond Green was apologetic, Jordan Pool was okay.

(22:39):
He actually completed his work out before he left the
practice floor on Wednesday. And now the Warriors are checking
into this and it could be deemed worthy of some
kind of punishment meted out to him for escalating this encounter. Now,
we talked last hour about Draymond Green being the ultimate
wild card and he will ruin your season, lass ruined

(23:00):
his own team season. That's kind of what Draymond Green is.
When he feels like winning, it's great. When he doesn't
feel like winning, he's completely disruptive. This is what it
is with Draymond Green. But there's bigger fish to fry here,
because after this, I'm pretty certain this is gonna be
Draymond's last year with the Warriors, not just because of this,

(23:22):
but in the overall scheme of things. The Warriors have
a lot of stuff to figure out. Right. Draymond Green's
got an expiring contract coming up, He's got a player
option after this year. Uh. They also want to make
sure they sign Andrew Wiggins, no new news on that front,
Jordan Pool, who was on the cusp of getting a
big contract extension, and Clay Thompson. So the four of
them are all players at the Warriors need to feel, hey,

(23:46):
we we restarted our dynasty. These are the four guys
who identified we gotta keep them all. Wiggins, Pool, Thompson
and Draymond Green. Before this, Draymond Green was probably the
last out of the four that you were going to
a extend. Right, He's of all the four guys. Why
because Draymond Green's age and is he as Is he

(24:06):
as valuable as he once was? No, he's not. Is
he more valuable and stretches and spurts in the playoff?
He is, but he's not the player he once was.
So of those four players, yeah, Draymond would be fourth,
Clay's third on that list, you gotta extend Wiggins and Pool.
Those are the two guys you gotta make sure you
take care of. They're younger, they're more dynamic. So already
before this, Draymond was at the end. There's no way

(24:28):
they could extend all four of them. There's no way.
Now after this, I'm pretty sure, this is gonna be
it for Draymond, and they're gonna find a way out.
Either he opts out of his contract to go someplace else,
or the Warriors decide, you know what, we're gonna move
you and we can figure it out. So whatever you
want to do. Now, Draymond most likely is gonna want
to be a free agent because they want to pick

(24:48):
his next spot. And there could be teams that if
he straightens up and and and has a year where
everything is as good as it can be. Yeah, he'll
have teams that want him. He's he's the ultimate winner, right,
He's the tom. I'm gonna bring attitude to a team,
and I'm gonna bring uh something mentally that you guys need.
And I'm gonna be a leader defensively, and I'll be
someone who can fill the cracks and and be the

(25:09):
glue and and hold people accountable. Yeah, he's gonna have
some kind of value there. But the Warriors can't afford
all four of them. And now here's Draymond, who for
two years decided I don't really need to play basketball.
Then last year got rededicated. Why because Clay was back
and Steph was coming off an m v P type
here they made the trade for Andrew Wiggins. Hey, now
I feel like playing and guess what, Tonna they win

(25:30):
the championship. So yeah, the Warriors kind of no Draymond's
act by now. So this is just the This is
just the cherry on top of that Sunday that. Okay,
who are we looking to extend after this year? Yeah,
Draymond Green is now off that list. Let's see if
we can work these three guys and still keep the
dynasty going. But after this, yeah, I I don't see
there being anyway that. Hey, Draymond, here's here's a big

(25:53):
extension where we don't care. You're gonna be thirty seven
when it's all over. The Warriors are now starting their
Draymond Green exit strategy after this. Yeah, I mean you're
not paying him another twenty seven million dollars. I mean
that that's what he's on the books for for next year,
and that's the thing for twenty four. You still have
uh a year left for both Thompson and for Green,
so perhaps you start looking in the wheeling and dealing

(26:16):
or or you're just letting those get to their end game.
And with this kind of incident, with Draymond Green. You
keep seeing Jordan Poole's contract being brought up, So I'm
kind of curious what the hell is going on in
the background with that, right that that would suddenly be
the on the verge of this and on the verge
of his mass extensions like that? What's that got to

(26:36):
do with get things getting heated into practice? Other than
I mean, what did he say, I'm gonna be here
long after you, old man? Okay, fine, Draymond has been
in the league a long time. Those aren't exactly fighting words,
unless they are when you see your basketball and mortality
thrust in front of you like that. But in all

(26:57):
series is like when you get down down to the
the brass tacks. Draymond Green's the the glue guy in spurts,
like you said. But also, if if I'm moving forward,
that's the guy I think I can move forward without.
Right he doesn't do anything exceptionally at this stage in
his career, does a lot of things well. I guess

(27:18):
you could say he still passes really well and give
him an extra point. I don't know what his ratings
would be in any video game. Someone can tell me
that what he goes category for category there. But if
it's gonna cause internal angst and perhaps have a guy
like Jordan's Pool say beat it, I'm leaving, uh, then

(27:39):
then that's that's not where where your end game has
to be. Because you know, Steph's not exactly new to
the game either renewed the last year and a lot
to prove after you know, the injury that he had
had uh and back to the top of the game
and all. But he's also a decade plus in the league.
So you've got to start thinking about the future. Twitter

(28:02):
at how about a Fresca might get swollen down the
Jason Smiths with Mike Carmen. And that's really what it's about.
It's not just oh, Draymond Green through a punch at practice,
you gotta get rid of It's now this is now
part of a bunch bigger conversation in the long term picture. Yeah,
you're looking to make decisions, right, You're looking to make
this We gotta make tough decisions. Oh, this just made
that decision a little bit easier. Made a little bit

(28:24):
easier now because you had one guy who wants an
extension throwing punches at another guy who wants an extension
so I mean, that's what it is that you They
have to make choices, and you just made it easier
for that to happen. Be sure to catch live editions

Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Rick Buker
coming up in about a half hour. All the latest
on the Draymond Green Punch situation. But I have what

(29:31):
could be a franchise and NFL altering decision that could
be about six weeks away. Do you like that? That's
what you call a tease. That is what you call
getting people leaning in and excited, ready to tweet tweet,
tweet what do you got? On Monday Night Football, we
talked about the power Right if you did power rankings

(29:52):
for the NFC right now, I had Philadelphia number one,
the Niners number two, Cowboys number three. Right, got to
give Cowboys credit losing Dak Prescott coming back playing the
way they are. Yeah, I disagreed, but that's okay the Cowboys.
You can't, can't. He can't get Cowboys on everything they
needed to do right, everything they need to do to
their three and one They won without Dak. Cooper Rush

(30:14):
has been good. It looks like this week will be
too early for Dak to come back. He's still not
practicing with the team, and Mike McCarthy said, hey, we
want him to go through a full week of practice
before he comes back. So it looks like it's still
gonna be Cooper rushed against the Rams. Okay. Now, when
Dak Prescott is healthy, he gets the job back. Okay,

(30:34):
he does because they gave him forty million dollars a
year and the guy's a good quarterback. He gets the
job back. Okay, all this who stick with Cooper Rush.
He gets the job back. But here's your dark side,
because folks are disingenuous with their love of Cooper Rush.
But they will get to that in a minute. It's
it's not like Cooper Russia has thrown twelve touchdowns in
the last three weeks, and he's completed six of his passes.

(30:57):
Let's let's just got four touch downs. Let's slow the
role on say all right, it's not he's been. He's been.
Like cowboys have done what they needed to do. They
change their style of play, and Cooper Rush has done
exactly what they hope of a backup. Hey, when you
gotta play with your backup for three years so weeks,
this is what we want to happen. But here's your

(31:19):
dark side, because when Dad comes back, it's his gig.
If he struggles, this turns into an Eagle's Carson Wentz
nick Foles situation. And I always go back to Jay Glazer,
who was the point. I remember fully when he came
on and I said, why do they play better with

(31:39):
Nick Foles than Carson Wentz? And Jay said, I don't
know why, but for whatever reason they do, for whatever reason,
the Eagles play better with Nick Foles than they do
with Carson Wentz. Carson Wentz is a better quarterback. You
can do more things X, Y and Z, but for
whatever reason, they play better with Nick Foles. And this
is the dark side for the Cowboys because they've won

(32:02):
their three and one now without him. If Dad comes
back and he struggles, you're sitting here around week ten
and you saw a boy. We haven't played this well
with Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush is still there for
whatever reason. Even though Dak Prescott's a better quarterback, Dak
is not winning like Cooper Rush was, and you have
a franchise altering decision to make. Do you stick with Dak?

(32:25):
Do you go through if he's not playing well? Do
you go back to Cooper Rush, which would probably signal
the end of Dak Prescott and Dallason? Maybe Bill Belichick
has called it gone Well, if you don't want the guy,
I'll take him. I need somebody. They could be six
weeks away from a franchise altering decision, and you know
they're close to it because Jerry Jones already alluded to it. Well,
Cooper Rush is playing well. When Dad comes back, we've

(32:47):
got a controversy. I would welcome it. Uh, this is
not far fetched. Again, this is about five or six
weeks away NFL and franchise altering. Mike Harmon, look at
you trying to get a little bit of asked. Look,
that Jerry Jones thing was Jerry likes to hear himself talk. Yeah,
but the controversy was more the idea of, hey, that

(33:08):
means we're winning games, so hell yeah, I want us
to be talking about it because it means we're still
relevant in the wind column. So and we're keeping pace
with Philadelphia, etcetera, etcetera, And I can sell more Cowboy Bees.
But there there is that large, larger question, right because
with Dak Prescott, as much as they said they wanted
to pay him, they were reticent to do so, and

(33:29):
it took a while before he finally got his money. So, uh,
there was still some debate there. Uh, and it was
the better than situation. They've got it out after next year,
after next year. You know what, Let's continue on this
because I can give you a great scenario where the
Cowboys can convince themselves. We can go to Cooper Russian.

(33:50):
Move on, we got that, We got more on Draymond Green.
Keep it right here, Jason and Mike, this is Fox
Sports Radio.
