buying should be Well. Night two of the NBA, Night
too of Opening Night, Well, there's gonna be every single night.
We'll be Opening Night for the NBA for the rest
of this month. Had our fair air of thrills. We
had some big games. Phoenix comes from all the way
behind to beat Dallas. But the marquee game of the night,
(01:07):
I mean, well, there was the Knicks almost beating the Grizzlies.
Oh my god, that was so almost you remember today
as the day you almost beat John Moranz in the
Memphis Grizzlies. Cam Reddish hit that three and I was
a lunatic. Uh, you exploded. It was on the air.
It was exciting, It was really excit. It was really exciting, man.
(01:28):
I mean I remember the first hour talking, so we
have that coming up, gam reddis and three ah, and
then of course they lost in overtime. That was That
was actually a pretty good dramatic reenactment. That's exactly how
I yelled it. It was great. Scream. Gotta listen to the
the whole shows, the whole show. Now it's four hours
of oral greatness every night. A you are a l
(01:50):
aoral but yeah, but A you are, it's better. It's
a better use it because, yeah, it's better because that's oral,
because they're listening to us talking. We are speaking, So
it's it's or either way. If they interpret it the
other way. I'm not gonna blame him. I mean, it's
(02:11):
one o'clock east in the morning on the East. I
just want the midnight in Chicago listen. I want people
to know where your mind is right now, where my
mind is right now, and I want to make sure
people understand I don't care, because I could just doubt
because you said oral greatness like it just rolled off
your tongue. It's a great line. People celebrate that way greatness.
(02:34):
To use a big mac or yes, well, yes it is,
Yes it is. You know I haven't had one of
those in a while, Big Mac. Really it's probably why
you're doing so good. I could have feeling pretty good.
I could have picked on the way in I could
usually put powerful and attractive manage. Perhaps is shooting the
extra st just hook up on the big on the app.
But I could have got a free one I could have.
(02:55):
I could have used that. I could have brought me.
You're telling me you didn't actually use the free tell
me and then eat it. There's a reason three? Sorry, sorry, harm,
where's the big mat? I hate it on the way
I mean the one was one of the deals plus
twenty nine cents. Sorry, I well know they get you
to pay six bucks for a large fry. That's the deal,
(03:17):
and only dummies do that. I have no doubt. You
got guy. You gotta down. You want to You want
to hear a fun story real fast for so about
about eating someone's food? So the last time we were
in Michigan visiting Pam's aunt and uncle, you had some
squirrel No no, no. We were playing cards and Pam's
(03:41):
ant uncle are like in their late sixties early seventies,
and we're playing cards at night and Pam's uncle says,
you know, I really don't feel I got a headache,
and he asked, your wife, can you bring me a
couple of aspirin? She goes, yeah, yeah, sure, so okay.
So a few minutes go by, and like another forty
five minutes so go by, and um and he says,
you off for good. Could you bring me did you
(04:01):
bring me that aspirin? And she was oh, and then
she goes again and then we're like okay, yeah. And
then about a half hour after that, he goes, I
gotta get up. He just didn't bring me the aspirin.
I can't believe you do that. She goes, Oh my god,
what She goes, Both times I brought him over, I
took him. So she took four aspirins in like a
(04:22):
four going back for a third week, and she thought
she was gonna go to the hospital. She had four.
She goes, I gotta go again. Yeah, so I took them.
Why didn't you take them? I said, She goes, I
don't know. I go, but you didn't need you didn't
have a headache. Why did you I don't know. They
were in my hand, so I just took them. Yeah,
she was fine. Oh no, but just I'm not talking
about from the aspirin, but in general, which doesn't happen
(04:44):
with regular no, no, no, no no. This is just
the one time thing. But just where you had that,
did I take my medicine? Did I not? Did it? Was?
It was just like walking back with it and I
took it. I'm just saying yes again. Now I'm just
worried about your family a little bit. Be careful people,
you know. That's why they make a lot of money
on those things, to tell you whether it's Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday.
(05:07):
In terms of taking your pills. It's kind of a
thing with our family talking about that. Hey, Jenny, you
got me a couple of asperin, very funny, and then
it's a blank, you blank, you blake. I thought the
story was they were actually going back and they'd forget
about the aspirin because they were going back and eating
a sandwich, sorry sandwich came back and when wait, didn't
they never brought the aspirins. And really all you were
(05:31):
doing was there was some bit of food that you
didn't want anybody else to eat. Everybody's got someone in
their family that's done that, right, the last doughnut, the
last piece of cake, the last or whatever. And all
of a sudden, it's like, I've got an excuse to
go into the kitchen. I'm gonna go refill my water glass.
You start chipping away at the edges of said pastry,
or you go make a sandwich and you put the
(05:52):
aspirin in it, like like, look when you give money,
get when you got to give it to a dog. Here,
I'm here's your food here sages and and in the
middle of it is your medicine right there. So the
big game of the night that with the most shocking
outcome took place in Brooklyn where Zion Williamson back after
(06:13):
being away from the Pelicans last year. They beat up
on the Nets one thirty to one oh eight. It
was a big night for Zion. He was twenty five
and nine and thirty minutes brandon Ingram had twenty eight
uh k d At thirty two Irving had fifteen five assists.
The Nets show up at home after an off season
in which they had to deal with Kevin Durant wanted
(06:36):
to be traded. They wound up keeping him. Kyrie Irving
wanted to be traded. They wound up keeping him. We
got the debut of Ben Simmons as a Brooklyn Net
and in twenty three minutes he scored four points, five assists,
five rebounds. He was minus twenty six and he fouled out.
This was day one, so Ben Simmons a little rusty
to start things for the Nets um as well. I
(07:00):
I think it'll get a little bit better. But Pelicans first,
for you get to the Nets. You know, I picked
the Grizzlies to go to the NBA Games this year.
There might pick I would have loved to have picked
the Grizzlies and the Pelicans because the Pelicans one of
those young teams on the rise. And it's hard to
watch the games tonight and not think that this could
be a sea change year where the young stars really
take center stage over the older stars. It's part of
(07:20):
it your hatred of the Lakers because you want to
see Brandon Ingram do so well and that he was no, no,
I have no dog in that fight. No no, no no,
I'm divests sent away and now it's thriving in a
new environ. Now I'm happy. I'm it worked out for everybody.
Lakers won the title, brandon Ingraman's planning. He gets to
hang out with that terrifying mascot. Baby. Yeah. I I
(07:40):
worry most about the Knicks. That's where all my worry is.
But I would love to pick the Pelicans for something
really good, for for an advanced destiny. But it's going
to involve Zion Williamson being healthy and for a guy
that doesn't play and hasn't played a lot of basketball,
how many games is he really gonna play this year? Ye?
(08:01):
But what do you think the most games he's gonna
play is fifty five? Maybe? Is it really gonna make
it end? Now? If he does fifty five, he's on
par with what a lot of stars? Then is he
gonna have enough to be able to make it through
the playoffs and be healthy to help carry them all
the way to say, the Western Conference Finals? So I
(08:23):
can't pick. I can't pick the Pelicans because I don't
have the confidence he's going to be able to do
it this year. Doesn't mean he's never gonna be able
to do it. But when you don't play a lot
of basketball, suddenly he's gonna hit the wall at some
point during the season, and it's either gonna be production
or an injury that forces him off the court for
a while. That's just how it goes, no matter who
you are. When you haven't played in a long time,
(08:43):
you come back, you're gonna hit the wall. It's like
a picture that hasn't pitched in a year. And he
comes back and boy, he's great the first three months
of the season, and then in August he can't get
anybody out. He's got five miles off his fastball. What
is it? I hit the wall because I've go on
way too many innings. I'm not used to pitching this much.
That's what's gonna happen to Zion Williamson at some point,
and it's a shame. I'm just gonna enjoy every day
(09:04):
he's out there because he's so bleep and exciting. He's
the Shaquille O'Neal of the NBA. Now he's got that
it factor that Shack used to have when he played
that Zion, I'm just gonna enjoy when he's on the
court and when he's playing, because to try to think, oh,
he can lead them to something, I just know it's
not good. The season is too long, there's too many games,
and he needs to be able to be okay with
(09:24):
the rigors of what it means to be a night
and the night out NBA player, And he doesn't know
what that means yet and it's gonna take a while
from to get to there. Yeah, it's the curiosity right
going and going forward with Zion obviously a guy the
NBA would love nothing more than to see him star,
whether the Pelicans win or not, him healthy, him playing,
his personality, all of that highlight reels for days. We
(09:47):
talked about John Morant and what we saw, and we
talked about with Brick Bucker a little bit last our right,
the let's fly over people, let's fly around people. Zion
is the same thing you know, pogo stick when when
healthy and what he can do grabbing and snatching a
rebound and then getting right back up with it for
the dunk. And and we're all hoping to see a
ton of that. It's gonna be a little bit of
(10:09):
management and being smart about his body. Right, we talked
about what you're ingesting. We were just joking about late
night Big Max and other things and what that means
for you. He's in New Orleans, a lot of a
lot of potential to to put some bad food, not
that you can't get it anywhere. And I'm talking about
just going out to dinner. It's like food, oh yeah, sure,
(10:30):
oh yeah, but like a lot of this stuff and
now here's your jumb malaya, and you get a little
bit of everything, and then you can come in and
like a giant pool, a grease right off the top,
you know, that kind of thing. So for him, it's
about making good choices. But if there is something that
feels off with his body, not trying to play through it, right,
They've got to be smart, judicious, He's got to be
(10:52):
honest with the trainers to try to navigate this as
best they can, because you do have this lawsyear. Literally
it is a third of games available thus far in
three years of his NBA career, and a lot of
people sitting around hoping for greatness, right, because we're trying
to find that next class of superstars that are going
to take the league forward and and the hope is
(11:14):
that he's one of them, and for the Pelicans would
be fun. They've got a nice roster. You saw what
they did last year while he was injured, and you
think that being able to get him back in at
thirty minutes a night, all of a sudden, you can
take that next step. But it's incumbent upon them to
have that open communication and for him to recognize that
he's got to look long term and not just day
(11:36):
to day. I would almost do this if I were
the pellet. I realized this is very radical, But think
about this for a second. First Strategy with Zion Williamson, Okay,
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmen. We've seen, especially in
the MLB playoffs now, that it doesn't pay to go
all out on spending all kinds of money to sign
(11:58):
the best team possible because is you can easily go
out in the first round of the playoffs. Right then,
the Mets won a hundred games, and they spent a
lot of money, and they lost the to the Padres,
who couldn't even win nine. I spent a lot of money,
thought of money, but the Met But the Mets came
in and change their philosophy to spend your money. It
(12:19):
was we Steve Cohen commits that we have to spend money.
We gotta do this. Other team everybody's spent money. Hey, Dodgers,
spend money and games. Right, You've got two teams in
the NLCS right now that didn't even win ninety games.
So what you have to do is find a way. Okay,
we don't need to spend all that kind of money.
Let's save a little bit for the changes we need
to make in the middle of the season. If we're
a five d IS team, let's go out and make
(12:41):
a couple of trades. Let's bring in who we need
to bring in and go for it. Then I would
like to see the Pelicans sort of do the same thing,
and that is, Hey, you know what, after a couple
of weeks of playing, I'm gonna give Zion Williamson the
week off and you know we have to get we
play Monday and Friday next week. He's gonna get the
week off, so he's gonna get a good ten days
(13:03):
to just rest, relax and not have to worry about
putting stress on his body. I would do that a
few times during the season, and that's why I would
like to get to fifty five games. Hey, Zions just
played two and a half weeks. He's played every game.
We've played eight games in the last two and a
half weeks. You know what, you're sitting the next the
next eight days, we have three You're gonna sit those
games because we want you healthy. I would almost have
to do that proactively, and then I feel good about
(13:26):
let's keep Zion around as long as we're winning enough
to be in the playoff mix, that's okay. And then hey,
when the playoffs come, guess who's healthy and playing Zion? Well, yeah,
chart the national TV games because they're gonna be in
the rotation of bunch so long as he's healthy. Make
sure those are on the calendar, and then you work
from there. Why not do it right? Why not do it?

the nets from tonight before you get into the a LCS.
See that was a perfect drop that Alex tyshert was
(14:07):
it was very good. He just gets his own Spotify
account up and it's good to go. He's kind of
a big deal. Yeah, you can never quit Tie Shirt
because the music is is too valuable. I don't even
left it for the next Would you leave your Spotify?
Absolutely not. I hate to break it to you guys,
but that was outcast, not Tight Shirt, he went no.
But he with being able to have the access of
the songs as fast as everybody has access to Outcast.
(14:29):
No, no no, no, no, it's the it's the brilliance and
the operational efficiency that is the man known as Ti Shirt.
What if I left it for everybody? Would you do that?
Hell no? The tank top it's like that was like
harmon last night. I'm sticking tired of people doing power
rankings and Jets in the top ten. I can do
what out power rankings? Would you have the Jets in
the top ten? Oh yeah, the Jets are pretty The
(14:50):
point was no, The point was that everything And I'm
looking at your computer right now and what's on your
what's on your hoping you like that matters? Mike. Only
site that matters in the world of Jason Smith. So
you tried to do because the ESPN dot com had
them as the power rankings that that was to be
all and all. And I said, blank them, you've got
(15:12):
power rankings. I've got power rankings. That guy walking down
the street and I don't have power rankings. Whoever has
power rankings? And the Jets in the top ten, it
was more just and he went straight to them. Okay,
you went straight to them. They're no credible that group
of editors that put that together for somebody to read
(15:36):
all minds in the world, I think it's Joe Montana,
and it's Steve Young, and it's Joe Montana. There's a
lot of big names doing that. Well. The only thing
wrong with with Joe Montana is he's a Cup fan.
Otherwise he's great and Criminal Minds is coming back, so
I'm very excited about that. Him and Paget Brews during
the team getting ready to get after it. Um As
(15:56):
for the others, just because they know how to play
quarterback doesn't mean they know power ranks. Are they do
power rankings? Power rankings? Power at Jets in the top
Joe Montana is watching all these games. Yes, he's watching you.
He's watching the g's wearing shape ups and he's watching
the jets. That's what he's doing watching. He's walking down
at at least for the commercials he does. You know,
(16:16):
next time we when we're at Radio Row in uh Arizona,
I'm gonna follow him around and see what kind of chore.
But just really quick on the nets before we get
into uh the the nets kind of smacked by the
Pelicans one thirty to one oh eight. And I know
that we have heard many people say, well, the nets
(16:39):
are boom er bust. They could win the championship, that
could miss the playoffs. You know what Brick Buker was
telling us. Everybody said in the survey he did about
that's ridiculous. You know, nobody wants to feel like I'm
on the hook if I say the nets stink and
they wind up doing well. Oh, you're the one that
said you said the nets would be bad. Look at
you and the people are can to say things about
(17:00):
you on social media. No, don't give me a boom
or bust. Tell me if they're gonna be good, and
I'll tell you what. The nets aren't going to boo.
You know how building a customized floating flaming dumpster gift.
I know this because they haven't been good enough yet.
And now what they're going to do is they're going
to mail it in right. There's the only reason Kadi
(17:23):
and Kyrie are on this team is because the Nets
couldn't figure out a way to trade both of them.
They both demanded to be traded, and the Nets found
out that, oh wait, Kevin Durant isn't gonna bring us
the return we thought it was going to. Yeah, we
have to hold on to him now for a while
because we don't like any of those trades. That's the
only reason they're They're not there to say, hey man,
hey Kyrie, let's ride one more year, let's ride, let's
(17:45):
do it. No, they're they're they're gonna be playing passionless.
They're showing up and they're only gonna play until something happens.
And by that I mean the Nets figure out a
trade for those guys, or Kevin Durant becomes the head coach.
They're gonna they're gonna just gonna show up night after night.
They're gonna play. They're gonna punch a time clock and
they're gonna leave and they're gonna lose a lot of
nights because they just don't care. They're not in it
(18:07):
to win, They're not in it to try to prove
everybody wrong. They don't like Steve Nash, you know, they
don't like what's going on in the front office. Him
and Katie and Kyrie aren't happy. They're not going to win.
I have no problem easily saying I can't believe in
the Nets because the only time they've ever put it
together is for like two games in a row, and
it's like, ah, we've shown you now we're gonna go
(18:28):
back to being disappointing for the next three weeks. I mean,
that's who the Nets are. They haven't done it with
a good team when they were better the last couple
of years, and now they're not gonna do it now. Right.
Ben Simmons came back tonight and he was terrible. Yes,
he's gonna be better, there will be better days ahead
for him, But the Nets aren't a good team and
they're not gonna suddenly win in the East. That is
pretty loaded. So yeah, I'm not picking the Nets of
(18:49):
the third year in a row, Kadi and cut. No,
I'm not picking them because I've seen this act for
the last couple of years. I think your last point
was the one you triple underscore. The East is too
good for you to float. You might be able to
get in, but are you gonna consistently be able to play?
And what what is Ben Simmons? Really? That's the what
(19:09):
are they paying him? Like? What's his contract? Tens of
millions of dollars? Like that's the question you're asking here.
How how many games does he playing? We talked about
Zion and the over under of games. I'm impressed that
Simmons was back on the court. So good for him, right,
So that like that's one thing you can put at
least putting the positivity. Now his actual play terrible, could
(19:30):
move his feet, all the things that made him that
elite player in the past, we're gone. He's still not
gonna shoot, but he falls out right, So relearning NBA defense, space, etcetera.
He's gotta do it. It's gonna take time, but is
it's gonna is he gonna get the reaction from the
crowd that puts him in that same mental space that
(19:52):
he talked about to where he's not available, And yes,
they'll get Curry and Harris back. So there's some reason
for optimism and terms of the flow and the offense
and and what it could be. You know, you had
a smiling Kyrie irving after the game, and it's a
one game. But trying to say that this works for
eighty two plus the playoffs, I'm no more inclined to
(20:13):
pick that than I am to say, yeah, the Pelicans
are winning at all, because there's just too many if
sands and butts that have to go through. Not to
mention a coach that none of those guys want there, No,
that's why that unless Katie becomes player coach, that's what
he's I'm either going to become player coach or they're
gonna trade me. At some point. They're gonna figure out
a team I want to go to. I will figure
(20:34):
out a team I want to go to, a team
that is maybe me away from winning it all. Might
trade that extra player or two that the Nets want,
or the Nets will be so disappointed that if we're
gonna suck, why are we sucking paying Kevin Durant all
this money. Let's get assets and move them. They're just
waiting for something to happen and just got punching the
time clock. Hey Fred, Alright, Hey Fred, How you doing?
(20:56):
Hey Fred? How you doing? Alright? See you next week.
Have a good weekend. Actually done that the hard part
of trying to figure out the the off season, right,
because you have the leaks of trade demands and those
kind of thing. Everybody has that moment in their office.
Wherever you are, maybe you're driving a truck, maybe you're
on the third ship, maybe you're just sitting at home
sipping a nice cocktail and and having some big mac
(21:16):
uh and winding down. Uh. Well, at your job, you're
gonna have days where you say, man, I don't I
can't stand this that the other about it, and you
don't want to go back, right, you don't want to
do the drive you don't want to do and then
you shrug and then tomorrow is a better day. Likewise,
with Kevin Durant, I have no doubt he was kind
of salty, but did that dissipate then finally, like, you
know what, I'm in a good situation. We've got an
(21:39):
okay team. If we're ready to go back, they recognize
they can't get what I think I'm worth. And that's
the other part is what's real, what's imagined in terms
of your value, you're a little bit older, you're very
very expensive, and how many games are you gonna be
available and be ready to play? So like all of
those factors come in because you have had ten teams going, yeah,
(22:01):
let's inquire. It's like, no, come on, he's in his
mid thirties. What are we doing right? That's where that's
where we're at with with Kevin Durant. You gotta be real.
Sometimes you gotta look in the mirror and recognize it
just like everybody else does. Getting up and going to
work every day. You comb your hair, maybe you put
on a jaunty little hat, maybe grab a giant cup
(22:23):
of coffee, and you get out the door to whatever
job it is. Doesn't mean you want to go, but
you put your best effort forward. And Kevin Durant still
has to try to protect whatever is left of the
legacy that everybody's. He'll go and he'll score thirty points,
He'll he'll still show hey, I can still be that
guy because he wants somebody to make a trade for him.
But are you gonna go lead them to it? And no,
he's not, he's not, And that they're gonna stink and
it's gonna wait for that to happen. The Bills are
(22:45):
gonna remain the best team in New York's last New Jersey.

of the a LCS. The Yankees go down to the
Astros four too. Yeah. I kind of expected the Yankees,
(23:51):
coming off the emotion everything of last night, trying to
come out and play a little flat. You know. Aaron
Boone did some real weird things with his bullpen tonight,
I mean solo home run. Yeah. But the thing is
that I never thought we'd get. Think about this for
a second. The average baseball fan is rooting for the
Yankees to win this round and make it to the
(24:13):
World Series. Think about that for a second. The hatred
of the Astros and the cheating scandal is still so
fresh and never going away. That a team that all
of America rallies against in the playoffs all the time,
the Yankees. Every I want the Yankees to lose. Yankee
fans obviously want to win, but everybody else, why want
the Yankees to lose. I can't stand the Yankees and
(24:35):
when they laugh when they lose, I laugh, and I
go on social media and I type in l l
L L l O L and I put a jiff
up on the Yankees. Now. They're America's team now, and
they're the team that everybody is rooting for because the
Astros still and the cheating scandal is never going away.
This I don't want the Astros in the playoffs anymore.
I want the Yankees to win, to go to the
(24:56):
World Series. That's never happened. And to think about this
is like for young fans to think about it's like, okay,
you know, Baseball, I see what happened with the Astros
and the Yankees. But if you've been baseball fan, you're
like in your thirties or forties or early fit, whatever
it is, and you've grown up with the Every year
we're rooting against the Yankees. We're rooting for our team
(25:16):
and against the Yankees. And that's been ingrained in us
for years and years and years, and now suddenly this
year it's, hey, man, the Yankees gotta win. I don't
Yankees gonna win, miss man, I don't want the Astros in.
Come on, Eric Judge, get untracked, start launching them. Yeah,
I'm thinking about you know, if you're of our age,
right around our age either adopted them because they were winners,
(25:38):
and you just you know, started to grab onto the winners.
So you're a cowboy fan, you're a Dodger fan, you're
a Yankee fan. You're a Laker fan, right, that's kind
of kind of where we're at, maybe maybe a little
bit younger than you have the forty Niners get into
the mix. But the idea or you hated the Yankees
because you saw them all the time and they were
the team that was winning and and sending your team home.
(26:02):
And then you had the Jeter led Yankees, which you
were tired of seeing the same team. I think we
can all agree to that. But they weren't hateable because
at least just you could sell that home grown right
the four and here's Rivera and here's Posada, and there's
Tino Martinez that comes in, and there's a Bernie Williams
(26:24):
and of course Derek Jeter, and so you were able
to sell that. Then well they got a rod Well,
you know, two thousand nine, a whole other animal. But
then they have it won since. But they're always in
the consciousness just like I'm just not. I've already done
(26:45):
the rans. You can you can find the podcast for that,
but for for purposes of time, we'll move the conversation
along to the idea with this Yankee team, they're not hateable.
Most folks can't name these guys as true Yankees going along.
Aaron Judge is, as you dubbed him, the People's Champion
as we get ready for Black Adam to come out
(27:07):
and the Rock you know that little guy made good,
like Jay Glazer talked about last week, Um, it's the
People's Champion and everybody liked the home run Chase because
he's quote unquote clean and good and the all American
way and all that kind of stuff. All finding good.
But they're not hateable the Astros. I think the reason
it still resonates is that they nobody feels like they
(27:28):
actually got any penalty. Yeah, a couple of guys lost
their jobs, but did they really have any legitimate sanctions? No,
the trophy stood, it's you've still got L two VD there.
A lot of guys have changed out, but it's still
fresh and everybody's memory. And if we're gonna wag our
fingers about guys that did something thirty years ago, twenty
(27:52):
five years ago, whatever whatever timeline you want to put
on it, uh you you you all can decide when
the start and end date of that era is. But
if we're gonna do that, then yeah, you still have
to hate the Astros. You can celebrate and you know,
a commemorate a little bit of Verlander's career and you know,
Kate Upton uh and whatever else you need to do.
(28:12):
But the reality is they're still the uh, the Astros,
which means you have to cheer for the sheet and scumbacks.
Knew Wow, New York Yankees. I figured he was coming.
In dramatic pause. America's team, America's team, the New York Yankees.
I am a real Twitter it out about a fresca
(28:35):
Mike and swollen down. The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Harman coming up next. I can't believe what people are
saying about Tom Brady today. Plus, we'll give you our
picks for TNF is well, please watch anyway, Saints Cardinals,
Let's go. This is Fox Sports Radio and when do
I do pop Loony? Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
(28:59):
and the Hard Radio Lapp Fox Sports Radio. The Jason
Smith Show with my bass friend Mike Harmon. Sure we
give you our tn F picks. Yeah, this story today
just bothered me. Bucks Center, Robert Haines, he's been the
second year with the Bucks, first year starting, said he
loved the Tom Brady chewed out the offensive line during
(29:22):
their game Sunday against the Steelers. You know, Brady was
seen again on camera yelling at the offensive line in
the middle of the game, and he said, tonight, I
love that he did it. Quote. I know we all
love that from him. It might look weird on TV,
but that's football. No, I'm sorry, it's not. No other
quarterback in the NFL does that and has done that
(29:44):
to their offensive line and kind in the post and
whatever else. Well, that's right. Look at look at the
jackassri of Ben Roethlisberger and his comments of this week.
All right, we haven't addressed it yet, but here's did
opportune time to do it. When he's talking about he
plays like a guy that doesn't care like you did
for three years. Catch it, catch it a check like
(30:05):
you did all those times, especially last year. Are you
bleeping kidney that you're gonna bring that out and say, wow,
I wanted to play? No, come on now, Look, this
is Brady's act for twenty years. When things don't go well,
he yells at his teammates No other quarterback does this.
Russell Wilson doesn't do it. Patrick Mahomes doesn't do it,
(30:29):
doesn't do how teammates you're gonna have come to. What
I'm saying is as bad opinion. Nobody does that. Yet
Brady does it, and it's accepted because well, Tom Brady wins. No,
Tom Brady is looking out for himself because he knows
the camera is on him, and he knows it if
(30:50):
I'm yelling at my teammates, people don't think it's my fault, right,
And he gets huffy during games a lot. He acts
like a baby. As much as as great as Brady is,
he's a pretty immature forty five year old guy when
this is kind of his act for it has been
for twenty years. I'm gonna yell, I'm gonna get mad.
Nobody else does that. You think the offensive line they
think they really love it. Come on, man, they love
(31:12):
when the quarterback comes over and yells, hey, you're not
doing your job, dude, You do your job? Man? Are
you kidding me? If this was any other quarterback, it
would be look at what they're doing, that's the worst.
But because it's Tom Brady, it's well, he knows something
about it. He's won super No no, no, no, no.
Nobody else does this. He does this because he knows
the camera is on him and he doesn't want people
to think it's his fault, and because he loses his
(31:33):
composure during a game when things don't go well. It
happens to him all the time. Trust me, I've watched
him play for twenty years. I know what he does.
I know part of this. Watch to beat your Jets.
He's been out of a division for two years. You
said that was a long where the Jets were winning
(31:56):
and he would be yelling at his teammates and screaming
at them like it's there fun. The bottom line is,
look your TV thing. There's cameras on everybody and you
you're telling not telling me that you know there. Of
all the technological innovations, we don't always have something on
the quarterback. How many times do we get to see
the aloof Aaron Rodgers walked back to his to the
(32:17):
bench and sit down and fold his hands. Aaron's not had,
He's not yelling at anybody, but he's acting like a
petulant child over there. Russ walking up and down with
the justice phony. You want to talk about no, no,
but you want to talk about him yelling no. Come on, guys,
we got this. We got this. Run a pass, run
a pass. Help about help about? You said that's better
than yelling at guys. It's the same damn thing. But that.
(32:39):
But we're talking about Tom Brak. This is what I'm
telling you, As you said, nobody does this, and I'm
telling you the other things are just as bad. He's
not yelling at us, he's saying, hey, but they'll help you.
You can, you can, you can. In this case, this
is I'm yelling at you to do your job for
two years. Whatever works, you keep doing it. It's why
(33:00):
it's you. Look at Kyler Murray, You've had great success
with whatever your study habits will be in and then
they say, you know what, you need to work a
little hard. You need to do things a little differently.
Someone needs to teach you. Now, what how do you
go from B to C? I don't and your coach
ain't the guy that's doing it. Because kings Berry sucks.
I don't like that. I don't know that it works
for Brady as much as it's just something he does.
(33:22):
He wouldn't but he wouldn't have seven Super Bowls. He
didn't yell at his team say if it was that
big a deal, someone would have knocked his ass out
by Now, well, he's the quarterback and they win, So
what are you gonna say? I mean that the second
part of right. So, but I would like at least
this to be treated with, whether it's us in the
media or somebody on his team, to say, you're yelling
(33:46):
at guys on camera. You're not around man, you missed
walk through you, you're missing time with us, and you're
yelling enough to do. But media can't be the ones
he yell at. If if he's got a teammate that's
standing up for him and say think he's two years
I'm saying, oh, you know if he started for the
team like that, He doesn't. He doesn't even know him.
He doesn't know he's been around the team for all
(34:08):
of five minutes and playing with Tom Brady doesn't know.
You know him intimately. I know his act from twenty years. Yeah,
I've watched Tom Brady. If the guy in the locker
room is gonna put his name on it and say, yeah,
this works for us when asked about it, how am
I gonna question. That's a load of crap. They know. Yes,
I like when Tom Brady like when just at this time,
(34:31):
I'm gonna yell at you from now on about not
doing your job. Let's see how long you like that
I do that. I'm gonna yell at you for random
reasons when the cameras on, the microphones, when the microphones on,
I'm gonna come and yelling you do your job better. Harmon,
Justin Fields was right, Bears fans weren't carrying their Wait,
you guys, you're not doing what you need to be doing.
You're not putting the work in there. You go. Now,
(34:53):
I would put you into the category of hot take nonsense.
And I'll start listing all of those hosts that don't
watch a game and have their guys do it for him.
How about that. We'll do that while we're at it.
All right, Hey, I didn't name him. T NF Tomorrow
night Saints Cardinals. What do you think hunt? How many
touchdowns tomorrow night? For a lot? That would be a lot? No,
(35:16):
I'll take I'll take the same. I'll take the same
tomorrow night. Tyson Hill's gonna run play quarterback. Coming up next,
My buddy Ben Maller. This is Foxx
