Wait a minute, that did D need to be part
of that? Open the patient Mike Harmon thing is for
the Zoe open No, no, no, it's for everything. No no,
no no. It defines a nightly basis. Not Come on, man,
I've seen what is on your mind. Hang on for today.
(00:45):
I know what is on your mind to talk about
coming out of Sunday's games. Did I'm gonna have to
be patient? Did I? Or did I not buy you
in nine cent Arizona iced tea like fifteen minutes? Okay?
So now I think he gave it to the guys
in the back. You kept walking. I put it in
the refrigerator cause I don't know if you wanted it,
so refrigerator. I appreciate that about you. I bought several
(01:06):
lottery tickets in the hopes that well, it's not Happy Halloween.
The Jason Smiths Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
live from the Tire dot Com Studios. And I gotta
tell you before we get into this gay Oh my
goodness again this game. Uh, this is weird because this
is probably the first Halloween that I've worked in probably
(01:30):
a decade, well, since we've been doing the show. Yeah,
this would be you. You've been off pretty much every
year every Halloween because we always do something right, you know,
with Zoe would take her trick or treating, or we
have a party or something, you know, her for friends.
And this is the first year now being in eighth grade,
She's like, yeah, my friends are having a party. I
want to go to tonight. I'm like, okay, great, yeah,
(01:51):
what times a party? Like seven? I'm like okay, yeah,
oh oh. She loves her friends. She loves her friends,
and this is I mean, look, it's it was inevitable,
but it was. This is the first time where I'm like, so,
I think I'm gonna work Monday, and Pam said, yeah, yeah, yeah, work.
I mean I'm not gonna We're not doing anything I mean, well,
I'm like, say, hey, we should go out past bars speaking.
(02:13):
I mean Pam actually said, look, if you work and
I'll go to the movies by myself tonight and I'll
go see something. And I'm like, okay, So we're not
gonna do anything. We're not gonna do anything for Halloween.
We're not gonna do I can see it in here. Man,
this is a tough day. I mean, I haven't worked
on Halloween and probably a decade. Here's the here's the
beauty of it. Though. We will finish here early enough.
(02:33):
Now I have a podcast to record, and I already
told Bayer this one's going to be really fast, so
I can hit last call over at Pineapple down the
street here, so you want to meet and still have
a little bit of Halloween revelry. They have a really
good chicken parm sandwich. Ate. Well, but you know what
she said to me, Dad, could you pick me up
after you're done from I said, yes, absolutely, no, Mom,
(02:58):
she's she's she's helping uggling actor Dwayn Johnson. She's going
to see Black Adam tonight. Pretty someone will go see
that movie. Question for Happy Halloween, guys, Happy Hallow You're
lucky we didn't cancel it. But other than that, what
hurts more that so we didn't want you to go
trick or treating with her or Belichick destroying your Jets.
(03:21):
I knew that was coming, So I mean more disappointed.
Wold hurt more? Oh no, no, that hurts more because
I told you what did I tell you was gonna
happen with the Jets. Belichick's gonna make sure we can't
run the football and zactly they're gonna put the game
throw three picks. You actually said that, Jeff, we're gonna repicks.
You said they were gonna he threw three picks that
we lost. Again. No, I knew that was coming. That's
the only thing I guess you could say I knew
(03:42):
that was coming to But at the same time, the age, Yeah,
I mean she she wants to go with their friends.
And you know she went dressed up a school today
as Freddie Mercury, which she was very excited about all
msta Oh yes, she had the mustache and everything you could.
We could redone that whole um Brian and Stewie thing.
We got the money from fake mustad. She did what's
her favorite queen song? Uh does she not? No, no, no, no,
(04:04):
no no no, you know, on this date in ninety five,
Bohemian Rhapsody was released, but he wraps one of her
top three. She like, like me, I said, my three
favorites are Bohemian Rhapsody, under Pressure, and probably Hammered a Fall,
And she was like, oh, that's probably in my list too.
But she likes Somebody to Love, you know, that's one
of her favorite with Bicicle. But don't stop me. Now,
(04:29):
why is Queen's still on? Yeah, she likes to Uh,
she likes the same, the same, the same Queen songs
I do. But she but she's in a huge Queen
phase right now. Like Queen and David Bowie are like
her thing. So I'm like, well, we'll just listen to
under Pressure every time I come get you from school.
Listen to that song all the time. So she's I
want to go to Freddy Murrow Like yeah. So she
had the belt and the arm band and the and
(04:50):
the tank top and everything, and she went. She had
the mustache and she was really excited. And I'm like,
and I'm not gonna dress up as anybody. I'm just
gonna go into work. Maybe she went to live Aid tonight.
I'm gonna I've said I don't want to go in.
I'm gonna wear my new jets at I got, and
I'm gonna go as a total loser. That's me. I'm
just a loser. I'm wearing my jets at us are
(05:14):
still on your foreheads? Okay, that escalated quickly. I mean
he hasn't even been out and about in Los Angeles here?
What is that? Thirteen in a row? Yeah? Thirteen? Shut up?
But yeah, I mean that age comes right. My older
daughter as a witch, and they were gonna go hang out,
she and some of her friends. That's pretty good. Younger
(05:37):
one was going as Patrick Batman's dark man. Patrick's running
around the dark? Is she the one with the with
the chainsaw? No, I'm not sure. They were still going
to divvy up who had what responsibilities? Does she needed
was a dress shirt and a giant bottom of fake blood?
All right? Is she going around doing the Patrick Babe?
Huey Lewis and the news recorded sports and nineteens got
(05:59):
a couple of five one singles off of it, including
walking on a Thin line. Mind gets better than Rashad Bateman. Yeah,
he's out for another couple of weeks foot injury for
your Baltimore Ravens. You made a big trade an again,
Rod Kwon Smith from the Bears broadcasting live from the
tirect dot com studios. Tirect dot com will help you
get there and unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road
(06:21):
hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirect dot
com the way tire buying should be. So we'll have
more on Halloween throughout the night. Obviously, we gotta we
gotta give some therapy to our guys. Smith here, he's
tough man, it's tough, and you know what I was
helping to do that You could buy everybody sandwiches. I
think it would make you feel better. I could, I could,
I could be down for sandwich. Is absolu plorged enough
(06:43):
tonight on that Arizona can't And if it didn't say
ninety nine cents on the can, I maybe I'm not
buying it. Okay, it's still ninety nine cents because it
says it on the can, So no one plation when
it comes to Arizona. Do you know what? Never inflation
on that. But the other thing was without asking for it,
got a bag and a proceved. Was actually asked if
you wanted to receive the charge you for the bag. No, no,
(07:03):
they gave me the bag for like, you know, because
they just hand you the stuff at the liquor store
up the street. And it's not the black taking a
bag that you walk around and depending on the time
of day, people wonder what's in the bag. That's illegal?
You know that, right? I can't get what's in the
state of California not charging for a bag. Wait, wait,
it's illegal to know then to jail. Wait for not
charging me. Yeah, you just got you actually stole from
(07:26):
the state. Well, you know what, here's the thing for
the other hundred and fifty times where they just had
me take my stuff, all right, I'm getting even with
them for once. They never offered me a receipt or
a bag. It's like it's like, I'm like, I'm putting
them out. You know, shark here can I can I
get a bag in a receiver? Yeah? Sure, here, yeah,
take a bag in a shark or something. Great. Uh so,
(07:49):
And and then I thought, you know what, I'll go in.
We'll have World Series game. It'll be great that Monday
night football awesome. And then what happens. World Series gets
rained out and this game is absolutely craptastic. Eighteen nothing.
The Browns leading the Bengals and to throw insult on
top of injury number one. These are teams wearing predominantly
(08:12):
orange on Halloween. I'm sure that's why they put the
game together. It is and I feel bad because my
big bold prediction that I said last week that hey,
the Raiders and the Bengals are about to go on runs.
Watch out there. They figured things out. They're about to
go on runs. I laid it out. Hey, the Bengals
offenses X, Y and Z, and yes they'll miss your
(08:34):
mar chase, but they'll be able to figure it out.
The Raiders. Watch out now they figure no Raiders. Neither
of my teams have scored a bleeping point. I said,
they're both going on a run. Neither of them have
scored a point away from effectiveness inefficiency. In this case,
you had an early interception from Burrow. He's had a
(08:54):
hundred three yards on that night. He's been sacked four times,
been rag Donald a couple of times. I feel game.
I feel so much shame for that Joe mixing six
carry sixteen yards. There's a guy out there that needs
sixty three and a half yards to win a lot
of money. So he got engaged, So good for him,
but he'd like that money too. And right now there's
there's people on on on Twitter right now, I'm sure going, hey,
(09:17):
can Jamaar Chase win the m v P because clearly
they miss him. Wow, this is this is outstandingly craptastic
by the Bengals. It's not like the Browns were good,
because the Browns were terrible coming in. Yes, I feel
I feel so much the Bengals, I feel next man
(09:38):
up sling offensively obviously. They ride Nick Chubb fourteen carry
seventies six yards at a score, including a twenty one
yard run that helps set up on Jacoby for setting
running touchdown a little while ago. But it has been
an abysmal game. Even Kevin Harlan's had trouble getting excited
a couple of players. But otherwise, like what are we watching? Kurt?
(10:00):
I mean, I don't know if I curse both these
teams or if I mean I feel awful about this man.
I mean, I mean, look, the Raiders had everything called.
They could even get Davonte Adams the football yesterday and
now here the Bengals. Like, dude, it's the Browns. This
is like one of those Bengals Browns games from like
the nineties when the Bengals were really good. It's like, oh,
this is gonna be a rollover game. Joe Burrow has
(10:22):
been fantastic and now suddenly it's we can't even get
the ball past midfield. This is I mean Joe Burrows
stat line tonight. So far in two and a half quarters,
he's thrown for a hundred and three yards in a
in an interception. That's it. That's his stat line. The
Bengals have a hundred and three yards of offense. They
have a hundred yards of offense. This is awful, and
(10:42):
I feel like it's my fault. It's Halloween. My daughter
ditches me to go to a party the No World Series,
although I will say I'm excited not to see Noah
synder Guard pitch tonight and sit there and go. You know,
the last time Syndergard was on this stage for the
Mets back in and he only started the game. The
Mets have one at least. I don't get that, but
I still wanted a World SERI get that tomorrow. You
know that you're gonna get that. I don't know if
(11:04):
he's gonna illegal bats and we stopped cheating. We stopped.
I don't know if if Syndergard is going to pitch tomorrow,
he's only gonna go three inning tonight. So now maybe
they're gonna skip and and go back to a different plan.
They're hey, man, I'm gonna be a different team anyway,
why not go pitch here? So you know, I feel
(11:24):
like I was gonna get all those things and now
and now we didn't, and now I feel bad, but
especially this game, because you know what, in this country,
we have ruined a lot of things. You know, there's
things that are gone that are never coming back, like
New Coke, sup Plantation, you know, all these places that
I'm never coming back. Really nice to everybody can go
to the trough and get what they wanted. We have ruined.
(11:47):
You want to just eat bad pizza, pizza, it was
terrible pizza, chicken soup. You get one of My daughter's
just picky, so she could at least that, and then
she'd go and dredge out chicken from the chicken. But
what do your point? Yeah, I mean we've lost some
things in primetime football. That's the biggest one. It's been
primetime football. I mean, that's we that's you know, forget.
(12:07):
If this is what we need to concentrate on now
in this country, is okay, let's make primetime football better.
Let's let's let's let's say, let's get primetime football. Let's
try to get that back to what it was before. Suddenly,
Oh my goodness, nobody can score points. We need to
focus on that. Education, the economy, all the flat No, no,
let's fix let's fix this. Let's let's see if you
(12:27):
can get eggs back under three dollars, a dozen gas
under five dollars. Oh yeah, Now, if if you could
do it, it could work. I'm telling you I did
buy a giant tub of cookie dough. I told the
girls and says it weighs four point seven five pounds.
If we go through this in a week, I'm buying
no snacks for the next year. Yeah. We need to fix.
(12:50):
We need to get we need to get this football.
Bet uh. The Browns have just scored a Marii cooperi
four yard touchdown catch. The Browns are some being the
Bengals now extra point pending twenty four to nothing. I
feel like this is all my fault. Feller, I feel
like this is my fault. It is Happy Halloween, you
filthy animal. Be sure to catch live editions of The
(13:13):
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific. Are we just gonna get Ghostbusters the
entire night? I think so, We're just gonna get Ghostbusters?
You know. I did have a guy as I was
walking my dog earlier, but I wasn't able to get
my camera up and rolling, and you drove by. He
had a car that he made out to be the
(13:33):
Ecto Movi. Here it was full drive, the logos on
the top and everything. Wow, that's fantastic, and he was going.

gonna call? Apparently the rest of the night, we're gonna
be calling. I have another song, Jay, if you want it,
let me guess, Let me guess. Yeah, I knew it. Yes,
four and a half more hours. Let's go. Joining us
now on the hot line. Someone who's gonna help us
(14:17):
with a big plan. I know he has longtime NFL insider,
Odyssey Washington Post friend of the show. He's on Twitter
at Jason locking for It is the affo mentioned Jason
locking for a Jason, please detail and bullet form bullet
point form for us your plan to save prime time football.
(14:38):
They don't pay me nearly enough for that. Um, I
don't have any dog in that fight anymore? Are you? Guys?
Take a request though? If you are. I feel like
at some point tonight you should play Halloween by the
Dead Kennedy's and you should play Halloween by the Misfits,
and then maybe put up a poll and which is
the better quitt to Central Halloween song or Halloween by
King Diamond. See, we got them all together that I
like that except Alex tishert is gonn want to play
(15:00):
Christmas music because he's ready to turn the page to Christmas.
You go to Costco tomorrow. All the Halloween stuff has
got used to wait for Thanksgiving. But now it's it's Halloween.
Eventually Thanksgivings to be replaces a holiday. It's just gonna go. Yeah,
we don't need anymore. Yeah, we'll still get football. You
don't need it anymore. Thanksgiving. Oh, I like Thanksgiving, but
(15:23):
really there's no decoration. There's no We're just gonna Thanksgiving.
We're just gonna add two days to Christmas vacation, and
we're gonna go straight from Halloween to Christmas. That's what's
gonna happen. Think of you, think of Thanksgiving? Think of
Thanksgiving is like a bowl game that's seen. It's It's
like the cotton Bowl, right, think of Thanking. It's seen
(15:44):
its day. It was popular for a long time, but
nobody really started watching it. It's a cotton boy. Okay,
get a full week off. I think Thanksgiving a keeper. Alright,
all right, we'll see if you can find a way
to monetize it more. I'm sure stores will listen. We'll
keep it. I think the NFL is it's true black
Friday Thanksgiving. You think Thanksgiving going away, They're trying to
(16:05):
turn Friday into Holloway. If anything, Thanksgivings get expanded. Oh no, No,
we're it's it's gonna be It's not gonna gonna be
Black Friday, though, it's gonna be like it's gonna be
Black Week, like it's gonna be every day of shop,
every day, Thanksgiving Week. The Wednesday game don't be a
manning cast at the league office while they decide which
(16:28):
game is going to be played that Tuesday, they'll do
a manning cast of the selection process. I told you
it's only a matter of time before Al Michael's is
doing QVC like product drops during the middle of Amazon.
They'll pull names out of the half and everything. Jay, Seriously,
do you think this is just, hey, it's a run
of bad football or is this this is now the
new normal where because we don't get a lot of
(16:48):
preseason action and the short works teams are, we're just
gonna get bad football during the week. Now. Oh look,
I definitely have some series on it, and it's some
thing that in my conversations with general managers and stuff
reporting on the trade deadline the last few weeks, I
would sort of pick people's brains and I probably will
have a piece kind of laying some of this out
(17:11):
um for the Washington Post, maybe by this weekend. But yeah,
there's definitely a lot of theories, and that's one of them. Um.
They're they're people who would tell you that front officers
are more forward thinking than ever before. Right. And there
was always this perception back in the day that, well,
we don't write trades in the NFL because it's the
ultimate team sport and you can't just plug one guy
(17:32):
in and one guy out, and there's so much you
have to learn in schemes, and I would always poo
poo that, But I do think there's something in the
fact that so many critical um skill players change teams right,
more than ever before. I think we're also hitting a
quarterbacking crisis where the old guard who haven't already gone
away are going away sooner than we want, or somebody's
(17:53):
gonna ask them to go away sooner than they would think.
So you've seen some of the true high end UM
guys who any year you would put on your top six,
top eight list of best quarterbacks in the game not
playing that way. Um. We also think I have a
crisis of coaching in this league, and these processes are
not particularly efficient, right, And there are people who don't
(18:17):
look a certain way, who really aren't a part of it,
Like they sort of aren't game like on the fringes.
But it's it's ridiculously harder for African American candidate to
get hired over the Old Boy network and the chronism
and the nepotism. So that's a problem that leads to
inefficiencies and who's actually making these decisions and who's running
(18:39):
these football games and these owners chasing their own tail
looking for offensive play caller after offensive play caller after
offensive play caller have led to some dudes being way
out of their depths. And you know it is one
GM put it to me, like if you've got a
coach or a QB, this league is there's so much parody,
there's so much um. The margins are so slim that
you can hang around. If you of them both, you're
(19:01):
truly truly elite and and are almost a lock to
make the playoffs unless you just have horrific injury luck
And if you have neither, then you're completely aft and
you're going to get kicked in the head most weeks.
And I think there's there's something to that. And then
I would also tell you go look at the quarterback
(19:21):
class and you could make a case, or I could
make a case at least because I've probably seen more
of this guy than most people that the kid the
Ravens signed off the street at UH that year at
Arizona State or whatever, Huntley might be a better prospect
than the ten kids who were drafted. So this should
be the time when they're ascending, right, this should be
(19:43):
the time when you're like, Damn, Trevor Lawrence is coming
into his own. Damn Zach Wilson's coming into his own. Like, oh,
they kept Davis Mills around another year as a starter
in Houston for good reason, Like he actually looks like
he could be a thing. Just go look at those
ten names. You know, Ellinger got his shot on Sunday.
It wasn't for particularly pretty um, so you you look
(20:03):
at that, right, The young guns aren't emerging. The old heads,
the old guard are dying off. There's a lot of
coaches out of their depth. There's a lot of newness
all over the place, and nobody played in the preseason,
like you can you know like that, I'll buy into
some of that that that has something to do with this,
all right, So since you you know, open the door
(20:24):
and I'm cringing and what you're gonna tell me because
we watched sucks he was overdrafted. He's never looked the
park's there's no there there. I've never seen it. People
I talked to in the league who have advanced them
don't see it. And now he's gonna beeat out his
leg even more. I think because it's a really tough
(20:46):
spot against the defense that can rip his face off
without having to bring numbers to do it, which means
they're also going to confuse him on the back end
with the different coverages that Leslie Fraser is gonna play.
You know, he doesn't have to go man to blitz
this guy. He could play his own blitz for and
have him seeing ghosts. Yeah, I think he's in trouble.
Get on that before it gets on the other side
of fourteen. I was I can't believe you'd said that
(21:06):
about Josh Allen. That was a guy. It was, I
can't believe you'd say. But coming back, you know, look,
here here's the thing j is that Look, Robert Sali
had to say today that you know, Zack Wilson's our guy,
and after yesterday it was awful. I get that he's
taken it in the teeth right now. And I understand that.
But part of me watching you listen, knowing the Jets
(21:27):
as well as I do, I see they took a
guy whose skill set doesn't mesh with Mike Lafleur's offense.
And what he does is he's he's one of those
new school, big arm mobile quarterbacks. But instead there's a
lot of motion and there's a lot of misdirection. We're
gonna and that's not what he does, and we're trying
to put him in a box. And because they try
to put him in a box, I gotta make the
incredible play when I when I have the opportunity, because
(21:50):
I feel like I haven't made any place because they
want me to take the short throw. Here, here's a
throw for three yards. Here the throw for five yards.
That's not my strength. I can't cut through. I feel
like this is a This is both a Zach Wilson
and the Jets failure in that we took a quarterback
and tried to go scheme over player, which you can't
do that. I'm not I'm not going to defend the floor. Um,
I'm not going to defend him. And and I have
(22:12):
some questions about you know, some of the hires that
have been made there. But here's the thing that it
doesn't matter, because they're gonna break him, you know what
I mean, Like they're gonna break him, like he he
they're not gonna I don't think they're gonna sit there
and have a kumbai ya and all of a sudden
switched this thing up. I think he's gonna keep getting pounded,
(22:33):
he's gonna keep looking uncomfortable, he's going to keep being
out of sorts, and they're going to be in the
market from of the quarterback next year. It's funny then,
you know what I mean, because like eventually it becomes
a mental thing as well, right, and he doesn't feel
like he's the guy and I and the infrastructure is decaying,
I mean, the offensive line. They were never going to
(22:57):
get the five man unit that they originally hoped for
on the field to get other and and and it's
been diminishing returns since even that. And then you take
haul out of the equation too, it's like, yeah, I'm
not I'm not feeling it. Yeah, I was digging that.
You said la flour because you could have taken your
own adventure with either of those teams together. Yeah, we're
(23:20):
down seventeen against the best team in football. Let's just
run the ball. Let's just keep running backs like whatever. Man,
when when you have with the Dobs and something something
good happened, well, just just keep running it again. Like
that looked like the white flag to me, Like, I
don't know, man, that that. Yeah, but it was good
(23:41):
to see Rogers yucking it up with Dylan and Jones
on the sidelines because they had to show some positivity. Look,
he's he's okay. But let's let's go into the Packers
and other squads. We've had a couple of trades already
the last week, Jason. What don't we expecting any fireworks
before tomorrow? I mean, I see your Ravens, you know,
plucked another Jim from the Bears. Yeah. It's interesting trade though,
(24:03):
because they remember he's on a fifth year option and
they don't have an available franchise tag because they got
a quarterback they haven't signed yet. Who's going to get
the exclusive rights? So if that turns out to be
a rental and they do anything other than win the
Super Bowl, it would be a lot of questions asked
about that because if you're roll Kuan Smith, You're going
to the market. And then, like history would show you,
when guys are in the market, the Ravens don't don't
(24:24):
win bidding wars, like that's not how they roll. And
they drafted a guy who was supposed to be roll
Kuan Smith Patrick Queen in the first round, you know,
just a couple of years ago. So yeah, there'll be
more action though, Like I'm not, I don't believe the
Panthers are done, whether it's Dj Moore, I mean there's
lesser things, you know, cam Irving whatever, but like DJ
Moore or or the pass Rusher, I'm not. I'm not
(24:49):
convinced it won't happen. I still think Denver could trade Handler,
Judy or Chubb Um. The Texas will trade anybody. I
mean the Texas, I don't even know what they're They're
not even in the fu ball winning business there in
the asset of cruel business. Like they just like to
shift contracts around and dump contracts and pick up draft picks.
(25:12):
So like laremy tunsil, if you want them there, you
can have them, like let's talk, let's figure that out,
you know, Brandon Cooks, I mean Jerry Hughes Mario Addison
that I'd be shocked if the Texans don't move a
contractor too. And it's already been a more robust deadline
that them were accustomed to. Um, you know, could the
(25:34):
Giants get somebody that could they eat enough of goladays
contract that somebody says I'll bite. Um, you know, it's
not out of the Roman possibility to the Jets trade
you know, MEM's or more or something like that. Uh again,
you're not getting big return there, but I certainly wouldn't
rule it out. Uh So, Yeah, I think there'll be
(25:55):
some more movement. All right. Lastly, j let me ask
you this. Now, we watched the Boys on Sunday put
up a ton of points on the Bears. The Bears
have just embarrassed the Patriots on Monday Night football. Dak
Prescott came up and they said, hey, Dak, give us
a little bit this week. They still ran the football,
They still threw the football. I don't know, man, Dallas
is really dangerous. And of all the teams, you think, well,
(26:17):
if they figured it out, they look like a team
that's figured it out. Yeah, it's it's pretty formidable. Um,
They've got a really nice recipe going there. Now, I
think the defense is slipping a little bit. The defense
is a little banged up, and I think the offense
is going to have to carry a little more of
the weight. And they're not going to get to play
the Bears every week, so you know, I'm interested to
(26:38):
see some of that recalibration. But this Elliott injury, and
I hate to say this, but it's the best thing
that could have happened, because if he's out two or
three weeks, you know, Jerry Jones will eventually come around, right.
I mean, he was the guy was Romo Romo, Romo
Romo until he wasn't and it was dark time, right
and boy, he couldn't say enough good things about Cooper
(26:58):
Rush until it was time to go back to Doc.
And I get it. He's gonna keep talking Zeke up,
and nobody loves Zeke more than him. But they've been
playing the wrong back and the league has been whispering
about it for you know, the better part of one
and a half seasons now, and I think this will
be a blessing for them in the long term. Um,
(27:19):
I'm using a Cowboys fader. I don't buy what they're selling.
I usually I would tell you that they think they're
much better than they really are, but I think they're
pretty good. And in the NFC, I mean, come on,
I mean it's it's like who do you really who
can you really stump for? Like it's it's them in
(27:40):
the Eagles in a tier for me, and and then
it's like I still don't really buy Minnesota and the
fort Is are so jeckle and hide, Like I I
get it now people are trying to recrown them again
because they beat a team that they're built to beat
every single freaking time they playing except for the championship game.
Uh so I can't go crazy about that one either.
(28:01):
He's on Twitter at Jason Locke and four that is

(28:30):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon
I'm gonna eat that ass up. The Breeders Cup World
Championships are coming to Kona, Keeneland November fourth and fifth.
Don't miss the world's best thoroughbreds race for their share
of thirty one million dollars in person and awards because
a Breeders Cup dot Com to watch all the action
live on November four and five. So right now five
(28:50):
and have to go. In the fourth quarter of the
Browns are still dominating the Bengals thirty two to thirteen.
At least we've seen some points. That's good some of that. Um,
but let me just say this, my Carmen, because I
feel the needed to throw that out. There wasn't really
like right onto't tell it was two and a half
(29:11):
point favorite. Wow wow wow. I'm telling that's wow wow
wow wow. Um. Look, I hate to say I told
you so, but when it comes to one of the
big games, you actually that saw the over under get
blown by the Bears. In the Cowboys, Uh, the Cowboys
(29:32):
did exactly what I expected them to do. We're gonna
lean a little bit more on Dak Prescott. We didn't
run the ball so much more with Pollard because Pollard,
look he doesn't. He hasn't never run for more than
fourteen times in a game in his career. You can't
just suddenly give him the ball twenty five times. So
what did I say last week they were gonna do
is gonna be a little bit more a deck because
that's how the Cowboys are built. They're built for. We're
(29:54):
gonna run the football, play great defense, and when we
need to dock, you step up. We're not going to
rely on your arm every single week. That's not a
path to winning. Now, the Cowboys have figured it out.
And I'll tell you this if I'm if you're sitting
here saying what do the conference championship games look like?
Right now? Getting to the midway point of the season,
the a f C is pretty easy. Maybe the Ravens
(30:16):
can make a run at some point, But to pick
anybody but the Bills in the Chiefs, it's kind of difficult.
You're kind of stretched because they're clearly the two best teams.
But in the NFC, if you can pick it right now,
remember I told you before the season the Eagles were
going to the NFC Championship and going to the Super Bowl,
and look where they are. I would say we are
headed towards a Eagles Cowboys showdown. Because the Cowboys the
(30:39):
team I believe in the most. Like just a couple
of weeks ago, I was like, hey, with Cooper Rush,
you gotta realize what they're doing is legit, man. And
if you were doing NFC power rankings, they were probably
the second best team in the conference. And now they've
gotten Dak back and they almost put fifty on the Bears. Uh. Yeah, dude,
the Cowboys have figured this crap out, and it looks
like the Eagles and Cowboys are on that conference championship
(31:01):
game collision course. I mean for one of the teams,
most likely the Cowboys. They gotta go through the wild
card get but they're good enough because you look at
the rest of the the NFC. I thought the Niners
would be great, and they've been up and down. Right,
the Vikings, all right, they're all right, But it's it's
it's Philly. It's it's Philly, and it's the Cowboys. It's
those are the two teams. I can't believe it. But
look at the Cowboys. Finally their best to hear since
(31:22):
Doc and Zekee rookies now go back to balance always
work for balance and definition. It was a great mantra
underned by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the nineteen seventies seven classic
Pumping Iron, and it works in your football efforts as well.
Pollered with four teen touches right on that career mark, right,
fourteen touches, one, one and three, running exactly where Robert
(31:43):
Quinn would have been had he not been dealt away
from the Bears. How that works. Prescott making plays with
his legs. You saw that Mollie Davis with eight carries
and then a little bit of trickeration when you get
to Turpin and ceedee Lamb touching the ball. So yeah,
I think balances there and that defense is problematic, right,
and still have questions about the offensive line, but they're
(32:06):
playing better and you're finding holes and you have the
explosiveness of Tony Pollard. And as Jason lockanfora said, and
something that you know we were banging the drum on
going back early last year, Tony Pollard is the better backed.
You know, Zeke can still grind it out between the
tackles and occasionally, you know, bust one, but you're gonna
(32:26):
get the aggregation, right. He's one of those compiler kind
of guys at this point in his career, which it
still has its value, right because if you're busting up
into the line repeatedly, by the fourth quarter, you're wearing
teams down and then Tony Pollard can come through, find
a little bit of daylight and he's off to the races, right,
So it has that one to punch. But yeah, Dad
(32:47):
doesn't have to be world beating spots. Just once in
a while, just hey, just every every couple of weeks,
give us something, maybe every three weeks, give us something.
Most of the teams we play, we can beat this
with this style. We could run the football player. But
once in a while, we just put points on the board. Thing.
You can put points on the board on Sunday and
he did. But to get the two backs together right
(33:08):
when Zeke's healthy again, maybe they make a move. There's
some rumblings out there that they go and acquire another
running back to give Zeke time to heal, because that's
still Jerry Jones guy. But the reality is you've got
an opportunity here, led by Michael Parsons and that defense
to do some special teams as long as Jerry doesn't
screw it. Up. Well, we'll see. There's your line right there.
(33:28):
As long as Jerry does. It is Halloween. I had
to do that. He did to think about blind refs,
so why not. Hey is speaking of screwing up coming
up next to the tire dot Com studios. Oh my goodness,
one of the biggest NFL screw ups. This is Fox
Sports Radio.
