(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Our two for the
tire Rack dot com studios. What's going on? Let's Go
with Arnie Spanier on Chris Plank Let's Go. So did
Shay end up getting in the in the in the
game tonight? He was watching his funny play hockey on
his iPhone. The other goalie, our goalie got into a
(00:45):
fight in the shootout and he got thrown out of
the game. So Shay was on his way into the game.
But before he got into the game, we had one
more shot and we put it in and we won
the game. So had he missed, it would have kept
on going and then she would have been into the game. Oh,
so did he get to do all the warm up strokes?
(01:06):
He was? He was, no, he he did that before
the game, but it was like a last minute thing.
And you know what so funny is? I guess the
coach said, well, I guess there was a couple of
other kids on the other team. We're chirping him and
wanted to fight him, and my wife tells him, don't fight.
Your skin is so nice, Please don't fight. I'm like, oh, jeez,
are you serious, man? We need to teach Beth some
(01:29):
more comebacks whenever it comes to your kid is so nice?
Don't findly don't like uh man. I for those that
are wondering, because a couple of asked on the machine
known as Twitter dot com, where you can follow warning
at stinking Genius one. I'm at Plank Show and everybody
should be following us at Fox Sports Radio. Why aren't
(01:51):
you are alone on Thanksgiving? And it's because your wife
is actually on watching your son play. It is a
professional hockey league Watertown, New York, so it's about like
a four and a half hour drive. I'm home working
and taking care of the dogs. You know, it's just
hard for us to travel with with these dogs all
over the place. So she went to go watch him play,
and um, he suited up, so that was he got
(02:13):
the suit up for the game. That's a plus. Hey,
can I real quick you know I we we joke
about this a lot on our Sunday night show where
that's kind of Arnie's and my main gig care on
Fox Sports Radio. We get to, depending on how you
look at it, we either get to recap the weekend
or kick off the week your choice. Arnie likes to
kick off the week I like to recap the weekend.
(02:33):
Whatever it is. You can join us every Sunday night
from Tin Peter one a Central time here on Fox
Sports Radio. Uh, since get back to sports guy lives
like rent free in my head, I want to bring
this up quickly. Uh, I am definitely allergic to cats, Arnie.
It's just yeah bad. If you ever want to get
me cats. My my my wife and two daughters brought
(02:55):
home a cat tonight where they didn't know you were
allergic there one, no, no, no, it's it's a very
well known thing that dad's allergic to cats. Like, just
to kind of give you an idea, my my daughter
had piano lessons several years ago, and when she would
go to the lady's house, the lady had a cat.
And when my daughter would come home from being around it.
(03:16):
I would suddenly look like one of those people that
is allergic to peanut butter and eat peanut butter for
the TikTok, right. I mean, so I'm asking this, um,
is my family trying to kill me? We can go
around the horn on this and get your takes. But
when you know someone you think so, but what should do?
(03:37):
I mean, why would they bring home they cat if
they knew it was gonna make you sick and almost die?
Obviously they're like, hey, let's see how sick we can
get daddy. We'll bring up a couple of cats and
see what happens to him. U there are some deeper
ramifications that if I lay out the need for protection
for our chickens or either to try to keep armadillo's
(03:58):
out of our backyard, you guys would really really understand
just how trying to be country I truly am. But
at the core of this, Arnie, at the core of this,
I mean that's literally that's just like, hey, Dad, we
want you dead. We're bringing a cat around more. And
they're like, oh, it's not gonna be in the house
or anything. No, no, no, It's like a cat that
(04:20):
that's raised you know, I'm not gonna pretend to understand
what's going on here. I just know that there is
a stupid cat. So I guess my point is if
at any moment during this show tonight, like everyone should
be listening tonight, because at any moment, either a I
could start sneezing uncontrollably or b Arnie I could just
drop dad. So, I mean, there's a lot of cool
(04:42):
potential opportunities during this show. I thought it was weird
yesterday when my wife asked me to sign that paperwork
and she's like, I'm like, what is it. She's like,
it's just an extra insurance policy. Don't even worry about
when no, no, no, don't worry. This isn't something until
much later in your life. Right, So, we've got our
eyes while I prepare to pass. We've got our eyes
(05:04):
on a couple of college football games that are going
on right now. Florida State, who has moved into the
top twenty, is in a battle right now, with about
nine minutes to go in the game. They lead Florida
thirty eight to thirty one. It's been a fun game.
I've been watching this Fresno State Wyoming game Fresno States
out of the blocks, rolling sixteen to zero. Earlier today
Texas One, they took care of Baylor Lane might be
(05:25):
on their way to the Sugar Bowl. They beat Cincinnati
uh U c l A survived over Cow. But we
all know the big college football story today are Arnies
Arizona Wildcats care of Arizona State. I love that the
mascots were throwing down. That was awesome. I'm just like
cracking up. And they had to break it up too,
and they just see that the cheerleaders were laughing that
(05:49):
they were getting into it. And it really is a
hated rivalry, it really is. I it's the best rivalry, right,
It's the greatest rivalry in all the sports. Um. But
I've got all kinds of this football stuff. I'm trying
to save it until like our three on this show.
So we'll get you some key betting angles on Ohio
State Michigan if if that's what you're into for tomorrow's game.
(06:10):
I've got a couple of injury updates. You know, both
teams are down significant running backs and we'll see who
can go. Plus a couple of other storylines I'm working.
I got my show press what you want in that
game neither. Um. I want Perdue to win the Big
Ten Championship this year after Iowa blew its chance to
play the Big Tin Championship game. Now I've got to
(06:32):
pull it for Ohio State. I think they're a really
good team. They've they've battled injuries all year long. I
I do think Michigan is uh. If you can make
Michigan one dimensional, they're in big trouble. Right you take
away their running game, They're in big trouble. But well,
we'll get to it an hour an hour three and
I want to get your pick on a plus. I
wrote this down. Um, who to root for if you
want chaos is coming up in our three for the
(06:55):
college football playoff. But I didn't know what you're gonna
say that I told you, right, yeah, we did enough
of that, right if if you if you want to
do a soccer conversation, you have to tag me out.
And you watched I already doesn't watch wrestling. There's there's
like six man tag matches back in the day, and
(07:17):
there'd be two guys that are waiting. Alex Tyshert is
the guy you want to tag in if you want
to talk soccer if you'd rather know, I gotta kick
my feet up. But you want to do something funny?
Last night when I was filling in with vj Um,
We're on the air, and I said, you know what,
if you were really into it, if you're big soccer aficionado,
tell us you know who's going to win the game.
But the USA is a big underdog. I'm wanting do
(07:39):
we have any chance whatsoever? Or is this really gonna
be a blow? Might just being a homer because I
want USA to win, So tell me exactly why. Um,
you know England's gonna win or USA can keep it
close to win. I'm telling you there was not a
lot of experts out there. It was just a lot
of homerism. It was like USA USA, you know what
wasn't his um, you know, the big soccer aficionado like I,
(08:02):
Like I thought there was gonna be out there. You know. Well,
I mean, did you ask Alex? No, he wasn't working yesday.
But we don't want to ask Alex has anything really
to be honest, you know, I mean, I'm just telling
you if you want soccer XPC, you want to claim
you want soccer insight, But if Alex came in here
and started talking about the different attacking schemes. You would
start yelling fire, I'd fall asleep for crying out lads,
(08:26):
they quit asking for some sort of official breakdow. Yes,
we're gonna break Okay, did didn't we just catch what
just happened here? You complained that you didn't get enough
experts helping you out to break this World Cup down,
but then you openly admitted that if you did, you
(08:46):
would be bored. And it's not really what you wanted.
So what do you want that that's having this conversation
with my son the other night, What do you want?
What do you want? You just want someone to come
in and be like, yeah, we're gonna beat him because
we're faster. I mean, we're what you say out of
that right, And then you're mad because you're not getting
some sort of insight on it and analysis about you know,
(09:08):
striking and and and and being physical and first touch
and things of that nature and set pieces already be like, oh,
I don't want to hear about that. You're just talking
everyone because you're not hearing about it. And also I
I you know, I tried to pick a hatred on
the other team, and I'm like, you know, I'm watching
Harry Kane all this and he's he's a damn good player.
But I'm like, yeah, I need to do squad today.
(09:29):
We have them scorel as he did. He didn't do
squad today. You know I wouldn't really, you know, that
was not impressive today. Yeah, it's terrible. I just used
the worst. Could you imagine? Could you imagine if we
did like sports talk in England and I went on there,
I go, man that Harry Kane, Man, I need to
do squad today. This is the best you've got? What's
(09:50):
wrong with you? Guys? What do you think would happen
to me? What do you think the phone lines would
be like if I did that? Well, the same thing
that you would do whenever you were on in Vermont
in Boston and he would yell about how Tom Brady
Bill Belichick is overrated. It would be the exact same
thing when you were on here in l A and
you're like, oh, Laker fans, I mean they're passionate, but
they're not much more idiotic or you know how those
(10:10):
soccer fans aren't stuff every they'd be like cooligans for
grant out Loud. I go, come on, blokes, let's go.
Let you know, let's see how great your Harry Kane is.
And you didn't do squad against USA. I wouldn't be
able to go out in public if I did sports
talking in England. You couldn't go out in public when
you did sports talk in Los Angeles. Arnie, all right,
I want to prove something to you. All right, he
(10:33):
is alex high shirt? Are you on? Mike? By the way,
I don't know if he's running around at all. Hey,
give Arnie a good breakdown from the United States attack.
What what do you need to see about how the
United or what did you see today from how the
United States was able to stifle England a little bit
and not allow them to have an attack. So the
biggest thing that they did was honestly coming out of
(10:54):
the gate with their energy since they're super young. So
England I think was expecting a rollover or for US
to basically just say like, no, don't hurt us England,
in which they didn't. So I mean, like, the coolest
part about USA is that the goalie stepped up, the
defense was on point, and the thing I loved the
most is that policitch. He literally politic. He stepped up
and showed his ability to be a leader to guy
(11:15):
to put the presence on the field. This is exactly
what I was hoping for in the first game. So
now I know for a fact moving forward, if they
keep this energy and excitement and the position of power
that they found themselves in for freaking finishing mill mill
to England, they are honestly not only good in advance,
you could see them in the top four teams. So
there's a good breakdown, Arenie, wake up? The same thing,
(11:37):
the same thing. How were they gonna be? Yeah, come
on now, said the same thing. For crying out loud,
you said the same thing. You don't even know who
Christian politic is. Like I said, I watched and I
thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a good time watching it. Um.
I thought we had more chances to put that game away.
(11:58):
I thought we could have go ahead and just got
that one go. We we had a couple of good shots.
We had more chances than England, that's for damn sure.
And I do know that England is upset there. You
got to call him saying that they feel like it
was a lost US you know, there you go, there
you go. See. I just I know I'm parenting my
take a had earlier. I don't need some intense But
(12:19):
whenever I try to talk to you about the importance
of coordinators, you don't care. You're just like the quarterback
throw a touchdown. It's fine. You don't need that or
want that. I don't need to dice up the X
and os and you don't either, So quit acting like
you do. You don't care. You just want USA to win. Well,
I just want to like I'm official, you know what
I mean, Like I'm doing my job. This is my job,
(12:41):
you know. All Right, before we get a break, let's
stive into a couple of things, right Thanksgiving a day
games from yesterday. Let's uh, let's start a little bit
quick already. What did we learn from the bills and
the lines? I want to go first here real quick,
because I'm not trying to put even though I feel
like it's been a time pick on my shows, are
shows consistently for the last three weeks. I'm not trying
(13:03):
to put Sean McDermott on the hot seat. But I
don't necessarily know if the bills have fixed everything yet.
But I also understand they're not healthy, and I also
understand that Josh Allen is dealing with something. And in
the end, they're still winning games. So isn't there something
to be set for that? Because I don't know, man,
I just kind of expected a little bit more from
the Bills over the last few weeks. You expected a
little bit more because before the season started, everyone was
(13:25):
saying the Bills were a favorite along with Kansas City
in the NFC and the fact that Kansas City um
was their wide receiver and Tyreek Hill. People were saying
the Bills with the number one team. They already gave
Josh Allen the m v P. You did not not
even the he was like, I give Mike a beat
yesterday or yeah on Thursday forty two. Um, you know
he The team is just not jelling like I thought
(13:48):
they were gonna jel this year. All of a sudden,
I'm not scared of the Bills like I was earlier
in the year. I think the Dovins will will hang
with them. It's gonna be tough to still win the
division of the Bills have really such a I believe
in he's your schedule, but um no, the bills don't
scare me at all and really wish the Lines would
be able to get the episode yesterday. Can I add
one more thing that I think I learned um and again,
(14:10):
the bottom could fall out, And I know that Chris
Perfette are are buddying the Overnights is a Lines dude,
and he might vehemently revolt against this. But I'm not
trying to tell you that Dan Campbell is a great coach.
I'm not telling you that he's got things figured out.
But I feel, like Arnie, you know, the one thing
I've learned over the last few weeks. I think he's
(14:30):
gonna get another year at the least right right. And
I think he's starting to surround himself with good coordinators
and smart, smart young coaches, passionate coaches. So I'm not
trying to sit here and project that the Lions are
gonna go out and they're gonna draft Bryce Young and
look out, they're gonna be incredible. But I do think
(14:52):
that I do think that Detroit has themselves a guy
that you know, they that they can ride for a
little bit, and Dan Campbell I did, and I think
they're playing fun football. They're fun to watch you can't
draft a quarterback. The reason for that is you're on
a roll now. The momentum is building. Now, Um, you
go to a rookie quarterback, it's like taking a step backwards.
You either gonna stay with the quarterback you've got now
(15:13):
or go with another veteran. Um to go ahead and
continue going upward. If you go with a rookie quarterback,
next thing, you know, you're like, uh, you know, two
and fifteen, three and fourteen, and you're starting all over
from square one because he's got to learn, you know,
well a bridge, get yourself your bridge court. Maybe that's
Jared Golf. Maybe you can still draft a quarterback. Um,
(15:33):
maybe their eyes are on Will Levice. I mean, I'm
not seeing anything in Will Levice right now, but a
lot of people still are. I mean, I just I
think you can. Are you telling me that you're set
with Jared Golf for the next quarterback? I said, even
if you want Golf, you have to go with another
veteran quarterback. Uh and bring somebody in. But no, I
I just said, I guess you could draft a rookie.
(15:54):
You just can't play a rookie for a couple of
years because you have to see where this momentum has
taken you do. Do you realize how often you change
your mind on that take? Because literally, like no, I'm
just I'm pointing out because I listened to you, right,
I we do. We've done a show together for like
a decade. I listened to what you say. You literally,
like two weeks ago, said you gotta go get the
(16:16):
young quarterback. You've got him on a rookie contract. And
you get him on the rookie contract, you can go
get other pieces of your team. Now it's oh, you
can't go get a rookie quarterback. That's the Lions quarterback.
Why would that be any difference? Why would that be
any difference? The first time in a while that the
Lions act have some type of significance. If they would
have won on Thursday, that would have been four in
a row. I don't know the last time the Lions
(16:37):
have won four games in a row. They they haven't
gone undefeated in November since like the pre Thanksgiving Day games.
But Arnie, you're still talking about a team that's four
and seven. I mean, you're not talking about a team
that's you know, eight and eight and whatever. It's a
plus four, eight and three. You're not talking about a
(16:58):
team that's nine and two right now, there's four and seven.
So it's not like they're they're they're rolling. I mean, okay, well,
the Broncos, if they scored eighteen points in regulation would
be nine and one. Are we doing this now? I
see that's not now all over the place on Twitter
and I'm just laughing, and I'm like, okay, well, stick
to your three and seven records. That's what you really
(17:18):
are exactly, just like the Lions are four and seven
football team. All right. When we come back, let's talk
about game number two. This was my favorite game of
the day because the Cowboys welcomed back some major weapons
who I think showed that they've got a chance to
help them out down the stretch. Were brought to you

(18:02):
to get in touch with Arnie and Ice Twitter. I'm
at Plank Show. Arnie is a stinking genius one everybody
should be following us at Fox Sports Radio. It's not
going to lose Twitter. We're not gonna lose Twitter. We're not.
It had its biggest days the other day. Like, come on,
(18:25):
I like though, the panic. I like the people that
are panicking that Twitter is gonna go away, and they're
telling me about how Twitter is going to go away
while they're posting it on Twitter. So we're all doomed
on this platform. Meanwhile, here's my latest article that you
can find in the only way on Twitter. I'll I
will say this though, Arnie, I would be very bummed
because that's where I live about my life, right. I know,
(18:48):
I know we should get Elon Musk on the show.
Is he a sports fan? I don't even know if
he's a sports fan. Is he? Um? No, I don't.
I don't you know. That's a good point, that's a
good question. I don't think he's I've never heard anything. No,
I haven't a big space guy, so you can nerd
out space stuff with him if you want, but I
don't know about that. All right, so, Arnie, I want
to hit some tweets coming up here in just a bit.
(19:09):
But first, as we come to you from the tire
rack dot Com studio, let's go in depth on what
we learned from game number two. I loved this Cowboys
Giants game yesterday, and of course the big story today
is when the TV ratings come out and we see
it's the most watched regular season game ever in the
National Football League. So put the Cowboys on Thanksgiving against
(19:30):
a decent opponent. Everyone watches. But what's your biggest takeaway
what you learned from the Cowboys one over the Giant.
I don't even know why it was the most watched game,
considering it was a lead, so you think people would
have turned it off by then, and it said, okay,
well then Cowboys one. Usually only close games will have
those type of numbers. That's the first thing they ever two.
What I learned is something I've known for over a year,
(19:52):
just took you a while to catch up to me.
Was that the Cowboys are Odell Beckham Jr. Away from
being maybe the uh, you know, the number one team
in the NFC and make it a run at the
Super Bowl. They they really I mean that that Victor
Riguets Minnesota was absolutely impressive. If they did with that
Green Bay game slip through their fingers, I'm telling you,
(20:12):
I'd be thinking right now that the Cowboys are the
team to beat, even more so than Philadelphia. So um,
they need to go get Odell Beckham Jr. And I
really feel like they're gonna get him anyway, because I
saw the rotation of the UM visits and it's gonna
be the Bills, Giants, and Cowboys, So you know he's
holding the Cowboys for the for the last one. But um,
(20:32):
and also I learned that the Giants, uh, they're they're
they're not for real and they're gonna have a trouble
hanging out to the to the playoffs. At this point,
I'm curious to see how they're they're gonna finish out
the season. Can I ask you a serious question about
Odell Beckham Jr. Just just out of curiosity, because I
think he's fantastic. I'm with you, Do we even really
(20:54):
truly know how healthy is right now? No? I mean,
I've not seen him run routes or it is that
what you're asking me. Can't sit and run rounds or
anything like that. No, I just feel like every you know,
I know, you have what you seem to know everything
about where he's traveling and where he's going for visits.
So I just didn't know if you had the inside source. Um,
but I don't know how healthy is. And and it's
funny because I feel like everything that's involved, like his
(21:16):
return and and and him talking to cowboys are talking
to this team Arnie, I feel like he gets pushed
back all the time. I feel like, like two weeks ago,
he was supposed to start this process of visiting teams
and it was, Oh, it'll be this next week. Well
then here's the holiday. I mean, I again, you're saying, oh,
he's got to go sign here. But what if he
goes and they put him through the workout and he's
(21:37):
just not ready. Do you just go ahead and bring
him on anyway because you think he's cool or you
like his No, no, no, obviously you gotta be ready.
And you're right, it does seem like he's put it off.
But didn't we know that he was always going to
go ahead and side with somebody after Thanksgiving? Isn't that
what it was planning to begin from the very beginning?
So um, look, if he wasn't closed to being a
hundred percent and ready to play some football, I don't
(21:59):
even know why he go through the tarade of this
whole thing. So I think I think he'll be okay.
I mean, I've not seen him running any rounds, but
I think he's gonna be okay. Well, and again, with
the injury that he had, you know, you knew it
was gonna be a while, right, you knew what it
was gonna be a minute before he was able to
come back. That's you know, that's some serious stuff that
he was trying to come back from. But it's I'm
(22:20):
not disagreeing with you. I like Odell Beckham Jr. Quite
a bit, but I'm not focused on what they might get, Arnie.
What I learned yesterday is Dallas has two guys that
everyone has written off that I think can help contribute
to them. We're all praising Tony Pollard and understandably so,
he's been great, But Ezekiel Elliott looked pretty damn good
yesterday against a really good defense. He carried the ball
(22:44):
sixteen times ninety two yards five point eight yards per carry.
And that's the largest production from Ezekiel Elliott since Week
five of one. And you can go get Odell Beckham Jr.
And say that they're in Odell Beckham Junior away. But
I thought Michael Gallup loo pretty damn good yesterday. Eight targets,
(23:04):
five catches, sixty three yards. That's the biggest production from
Michael Gallup since Thanksgiving last year against the Raiders. Can't
go with you that. You can't bank on that matter.
You're baking on O'Dell Beckham Jr. Who's coming back from
an injury. That what are you talking about. You'll get
O'Dell what's he done, He's been out the whole year.
You get Michael Gallup, who gets this offense, isn't a
(23:26):
prima donna. And you're burying Michael Gallup being a potential
playmaker for this team. Get out of here with that. Actually,
the Bills, Giants and Cowboys see it all the way
I see it out there also that Odell Beckham Jr.
Um They feel like there maybe one guy away from
taking that next I don't want that. I'll be honest
with you, I don't want the Bills to get him
because I that's that'd be a shot in the gut
(23:47):
to the Miami Dolphins. I'd be afraid if the Bills
have another weapon like Odell Beckham Junr. I I wouldn't
want that at all. I'd be I'd be terrified of that.
Where's Odell Beckham Jr? Been a great teammate? I think
that's a better question for Eli manning him. And I'm
kidding about that. I'm just kidding about that. He's been
(24:08):
a great teammate one place, and that was with the
Rams and they were going to the Super Bowl, and
he still found ways to complain. If I were you
as a Dolphins fan, I'd be rooting like crazy for
him to end up in Buffalo, right, absolutely, Yeah, Arnie
Antonio Brown is a weapon, right And he did great
(24:31):
for Tampa one season, but what happened after that? And
he was great at Pittsburgh, But what's happened since? I
mean to me, you're adding a diva to a very
caustic potential. I love Stefon Diggs, but man, he seems
like he's a ticking time bomb ready to explode. I'm
telling you if I'm if I'm in your shoes and
(24:51):
I'm a Dolphins fan, or if I'm I don't know
Jets fans, do you still have hope. I'm rooting like
crazy for this dude to end up in Buffalo because
these are one of those things that sports radio guys
like myself and already go, oh, go get him. He
is awesome. I played with him on Madden and he
was incredible. But in reality, you get him in that
locker room and he has a couple of games where
(25:12):
you don't get the ball to him or you're throwing
it to someone else more and he thinks he's better
than them. Dude, the guy has been a disaster on
that front. He's your best friend away from the field,
but when he gets out there and he's not getting
a football, it doesn't always work out that well. And
the last year is a little bit dicey with the Rams.
No I'm not gonna deny that. I mean, so he
canna have an attitude, but they don't tell me didn't
(25:33):
help the Rams. You you bring up that point. Also,
he's still very good friends with like se Kwon Barkley,
so he'd still be a good fit with the Giants,
There's no doubt about that. And three, what makes me
think that he's completely healthy is because that he's gonna
be looking for a three year contract and a lot
of money. So people just don't throw out that type
of money for somebody that's still limping around and needs
to rehab it, you know. Be sure to catch live
(25:56):
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays
at ten pm. He's during seven pm Pacific. Um, I listen.
I get it. Everyone thinks Odell Beckham is the difference maker,
but is he really playing that kind of role with
the Rams last year if they didn't have an injury
like his? I just pulled up his his per game.
I mean he literally his most targets before they had
(26:17):
someone go down was like all his most catches before
you had someone go down was five in a game.
That's not bad, right, but it's five for thirty nine.
I think he was on his way to winning like
the m v P of the Super Bowl or or something,
had he not gotten hurt. So I think maybe that's
got something to do with it. And and how did
that go for him hurt and the team that he
(26:42):
was with he's not. He's not resigning with so I
don't know, man. You you Here's the funny thing is,
you don't care if the Cowboys get better. You really don't. Um.
You don't think Odell Beckham Jr. Is a superstar, But
for some reason, you don't believe in Ceedee Lamb and
don't believe in Michael Gallup. And I guess you don't
(27:02):
believe in Stefon Diggs or any of the young receivers
that they have in Buffalo right now. I don't blame
you for not believing in any other teams receivers that
he's in the mix on. But to pretend like he's
gonna come in and be this dynamic difference maker even
as a number three guy, I ain't buying it, man,
I'm buying it all. I think it's not worth the headache.
I just think he's a good compliment to see, do
you remember? And that's only going to help him. It's
(27:23):
gonna take away some of the UH coverage or you know,
some of the UH concerted effort to go ahead and
shut him down and and we'll help the run from
Odell Beckham Junr. What have you seen from Odell Beckham Jr.
That leads Arnie Spaniard to believe that he wants to
be a complimentary receiver. No, I meant like one A,
one B. Yeah, you're gonna bring back a guy off
(27:46):
a ruptured achilles or torn a c L or whatever
it is and make him a one B to a
guy that's been a thousand yard receiver for you. I don't,
I don't get this. In fact, you're not alone. And
I was like, oh, go get O'Dell Beckham Junior. I mean, yo,
put Madden a Okay, watch when he was he was
incredible during the playoffs, alright, but what was he like
whenever he wasn't getting the ball and the Rams didn't
(28:07):
have injury situations and wide receiver he was complaining he
was a problem. But no, we we forget all that now.
I will say, I will say there is a fair
point to be made here. Do you think the Buccaneers
win that Super Bowl with Tom Brady without Antonio Brown
even if they went and get somebody else, or is
it Antonio Brown or nothing? And that is what was
(28:28):
asking me. I mean, did I make it too complex? Dude?
But maybe if you don't get Antonio Brown maybe maybe
they go ahead and get somebody else that's just as
you know that that could help out, maybe not as much,
or can help out a little bit, you know then
But no, yeah, okay, then for literal Arnie, here we
go get mad at me for well did he step
(28:49):
with his right foot or his left foot? Whenever I
think the line of scrimmage, No, I I don't think
he was the reason why they wanted super Bowl. If
that's what drask, you know, I don't think so that's
not what I'm asking, Arnie Spanier. Do you think they
still win a super Bowl even without him? Not saying
he's the reason. He's pretty good during that playoff run
for him, and honestly, Oddell Beckham Jr. Was pretty good
(29:12):
during the Rams playoff run last year. So maybe I
can contradict myself and say I don't know if the
Buccaneers win that Super Bowl without Antonio Brown whenever Tom
Brady was there, Not to say he's the lone reason,
but what was he? Complimentary receiver, a guy who you
saw what happened when he couldn't be and stand being
that complimentary receiver. If you can keep Odell Beckham Jr.
(29:33):
From not losing his mind for about a seven game stretch.
Then he's great. I just don't know historically if you
can count on that without him being like the one
or one a guy and it's not anymore. You just
have to wait and wait from the make a one
handed catch and then you can see it a million
times on video. I'll look at that and the one ended.
It's just Americon. Look what he's doing. Florida State has
(29:57):
just beaten Florida by a final score of forty five
to thirty eight. Our in Trepid reporter who was following
this game for US, Jason B. Diamond, said that the
Seminoles want on a face mask that wasn't called awful
job by the I just happened to look over. I
thought they called. I didn't know. I didn't know they
(30:17):
didn't call that. He yanked out. That was blatant face mask.
I'm surprise it wasn't called. You know, would you say
overall it's been a pretty bad weekend for officials. I'm
sure that if we looked at the overall percentages. Oh,
they're storming the field. They're storming the field in Tallahassee. Um,
you had the missed what I thought was the mistouchdown
call on Henry and the Patriots game. Damn that that
(30:39):
played by Ceedee Lamb was pretty pretty close in the
Cowboys game too. But I just feel like the last
few days, aren't he it's this into this Florida State
Florida game. Don't feel like it's necessarily been banner for
your favorite things, the college football and NFL officials, Right Yeah,
I don't know if it's been like that over like
the majority of It's just that the one big call
(30:59):
that wasn't made Egg Bowl last night. You don't even
know what happened that. No, I didn't know what happened
at the Egg Bowl. There was there was a pass
that they thought was a forward pass and they called
it a fumble and everyone was kind of losing their
mind about SEC. I guess SEC officials are just god awful.
Speaking of god awful things from college football when we
(31:21):
come back. You know, Arnie, you have some hot takes,
you have some troll takes. You would even agree with that,
I think, But um, I think I've seen the worst
take in the history of the Internet. I I finally
found it, and it came courtesy of Dan Wilkin. From
USA today and when we come back, I'll share it
with you on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon
(31:43):
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. I bet
I'm probably outside of Ricky and Alex who have it
on in studio, I'm probably the only person watching Fresno
stayed Wyoming right now. You have to be the absolutely
absolutely I know you're not Ricky. Are are you guys
(32:05):
watching it in studio? Beautiful halftime lead? There see there
we go three zip Fresno State at the half. We
also have Arnie's favorite game on two, which is USA
in England playing again. What channel is that on? I
might go back one. Okay, let's go to nineteen. Oh
it's not on f F S two. I don't even
(32:26):
know where that is. It's uh, it used to be
like a racing channel. So two is what they should do.
I would like that they could see me in my
quirky ways, how I moved my hands around very awkwardly,
how I throw things and turn the mic off when
I get mad at you about things. And I'm here
(32:46):
for the candy. That's right, exactly. Everybody just wants to
see a little bit of Arnie. Now you know what
I'm gonna end up doing here this I'm done. I'm
sitting here bragging earlier bout Oh this college football is great,
this is fun. Excuse me, this college basketball is great.
This is fun. We got college basketball. I'm done with
college basketball, all right. I don't need to see another matchup.
(33:08):
You've had it on all day long. Let's go. I
don't need to see Purdue versus Gonzaga and another tall,
stiff big man, and that it's been in college for
fifty years, about graduated like five years ago. They'll be
games on when we uh signed off the air, I
know it'll be. I know. Yeah, they have these tournaments
(33:31):
in Hawaii, and obviously we've been watching the Maui stuff.
So yeah, I'm I'm I'm in. But it's like I
reached this point where I'm like, gosh, okay, I get it.
Can we throw a quick tweet out here before we
get too carried away with things, because we're getting a
lot of people wanting like, uh, why do you say
Azra Ben Azra Bin wants to get your take on
(33:51):
the mascots fight Sparky whooping Wilbur. How did you feel
overall about the performance of your wildcat mask today? In
the mini brawl before Arizona took out Arizona State on
the gridiron, they just broken up a little too early
because spark you landed a couple of earlier blows. But
I but Wilber was coming back. I I think they
(34:13):
broken up a little because Wilbur would have certainly done
some serious damage. Um, So I that was great. That
fight was great. And did you see the pitchfork that
Arizona on the sideline and they had like five turnovers,
but then we had four footballs in the pitchfork prong
for each turnover, So I thought that was pretty cool. Also,
I just loved it. It was awesome. Though Arizona's defense
(34:35):
was horrible. They couldn't stop the Arizona State you know, Yeah,
what was the number I had a little bit earlier,
Like he gave up thirty nine first downs? They had
the football for all They had the football for a
whole quarter more than you did, and you still won
the game. I mean, that's like impressive. I'm not even
mad about you being able to pull that off, but kudos.
Here's a here's one that's been hanging in the in
(34:56):
the queue for a while here, And as we always
like to say, the best way to get in touch
with the show is on Twitter. That's at Stinking Genius one.
I'm at five, I'm at Plank Show, and everybody, and
I mean everybody should be following us at Fox Sports Radio.
So we have coaching vacancies maybe getting filled. Right We're
hearing rumors about the possibility of Matt Rule being kind
(35:16):
of the target for Nebraska. So Paul at builds mafia
hits us with this. Auburn is the fifth best job
in the SEC, which is good, one of the top
fifteen jobs in the country. Yet they can't get Matt
Rule or Lane Kiffin because they're boosters. Are a bunch
of vultures. Imagine being so bad Matt Rule decided he
(35:37):
wanted to coach at Nebraska instead. I mean I would
even pull back from that. Imagine being in the spot
and Lane Kiffin's choosing old miss over trying to go
to Auburn right now, which I thought that TV guy,
I thought that TV guy told me he was resigning today.
Where is the resignation from Lane Kiffin. Did he quit
today as they had coach at ole miss You know,
(35:58):
my my thing is this the when you get fired
from a job like that, you get so much money.
I mean, what was like ten fifteen million dollar buyouts?
What did En Oseron get? I mean, he was just
laughing all the way to the bank out there. Why
would you be afraid to take a job like that
if you got such a big buyout, unless you think
that you're gonna be um, not successful. I don't know
why you don't think you'd be successful in Auburn. So
(36:19):
I think it's a pretty plum job to be honest
out two and and I'll just my my take on
this from talking to a few people, I don't think
he was in the mix for the Auburn job. I
think I think Auburn's trying to hit a home run.
I think they're working behind the scenes on a on
a home run candidate. Maybe that's Tean Sanders. Maybe that's
not considered a home run to some people, but that's
(36:40):
kind of it's kind of where I think they are.
And I don't think Matt Rule was ever really a
candidate for Auburn. But I did promise you something college
football related before the break, Arnie, And I know you
love your hot takes, and I think it's even fair
to say sometimes you feel like you have the hottest
of hot takes. I have one as hotter and maybe
(37:01):
even more ridiculous, because apparently if Auburn just waits, a
marquee premier head coach maybe available. Um. This is from
USA Today, Arnie, and I'm just gonna read you the headline.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day could be on the hot
seat with a loss to Michigan. UM throwing, throwing the
(37:24):
additional stakes. Saturday winner goes to the Big Tin Title
Game and likely the College Football playoff game. And this
might well be the game that makes our breaks. Ryan
Day's tenure. What are we? What are we? What are
we doing? I mean, I can insanity like be reinstilled
(37:45):
in college football, or in football, or just in sports
in general. Ryan Day has been incredible. The man is
despondent over like an eleven and two season from last
year they fired that they paid to a million dollars
to their defensive coordinator. Right, hey, there you go, there's
your next head coach at Auburn. When Ryan Days fired
at Ohio State, he'll go to Auburn. We'll talk Ohio
(38:07):
State in Michigan next with Arnie and Plank on Fox
Sports Radio
